Speaker 1 (00:01):
That comic.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
It's time for that comic podcast to broadcast the long
last let me introduce you to this podcast. First the
spensey kind of optimistic, and off goes Moscow, like, yo,
baby Jewey, your features its usually a way more crises
than DC's kind of new witty, and last he said
an hour like he's at your g two. Welcome to
that college podcast you Hello, Lo, Lo, Welcome to that
(00:28):
comic podcast. I'm your host penty and with me is
always in my wonderful Sidecakes. First, mister Moscow, can I
kick it? Yeah? And then there's Pee Feature, Hello Internet,
sounded good?
Speaker 3 (00:40):
And then there's baby Hueye, what's going on?
Speaker 2 (00:44):
What's going on? And buzz Asaurus rex I was like,
he's gonna roar and I cannot wait. Beautiful, It's beautiful,
all right, Welcome to the best of twenty twenty four.
We're still on our vacation shows. We are recording back
(01:05):
to back, so we're gonna get loopier as these weeks
go on for you all. But as the night rage
is on for us, we're all gonna start to fall
asleep on our microphones. But before that happens, wow, Sorry,
the pewpew, pew, pew pew. That was the best out effect.
I hope you sleep like that. I really do hope
(01:26):
that's how you sleep. All right. But let's get back
into the best of twenty twenty four because we only
got a little bit of time here. I told you you,
you gotta keep me on track. We did good last week,
we got it out. We're gotta keep it rolling. We
got two morenies to go. So first off, best of
the rules. What we're gonna do here is each of
us are going to name are three favorites movies, TV shows,
(01:47):
comic books. At the end, based on what was said
the most, that'll be our favorites of the year, right,
So we will have our individuals and then we will
figure out what our favorites as a show is. So
I feel like it's only proper to start off with
move movies, seeing as how that seems to be. Although
I would kind of I might argue that comics this
year were part of the best, but I feel like
(02:07):
that's for last. Yeah, there you go, thank you, thanks
for getting me out of that hole. Let's move over
into movies and let's go ahead and start with Huey
because you spoke up, Hueye. All right, you're starting the
round robin. Let me get your three favorite movies comic
wil whatever, three favorite movies were talking about this year.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Well, of course, my number one is Transformers, Transformers one,
Transformers one is my number one. Number two of course
Deadpool Wolverine. And then for number three, I got Alien Romulus.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Oh wow, that's a good list. That's a good list.
I have a feeling our lists are all going to
be a little similar, different, vastly different. That makes me
very excited. All right, well then we're just gonna move
right on down the road here with Buzzy Soaurus Rex,
Sir buzz a lot, Buzzington. What's what do you got?
What's your three?
Speaker 4 (03:03):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (03:03):
For me, it was I mean I'm gonna double up
dead Pull Wolverine number one. Number two was for me
was Lisa Frankenstein, a little bit of an oddball one
but check it out you haven't seen it. And Alien Romulus.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Alien Romul two. I mean, definitely Lisa Frankenstein wasn't gonna
get picked. But now that Romuelo says too, that's shocking.
I wasn't expecting that one. Lisa frank stonin. I didn't
even hear that one.
Speaker 5 (03:25):
Yeah, it was actually directed by Robin Williams's daughter.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Really comedy.
Speaker 5 (03:30):
It's a horror comedy and it's it's really really good.
It's it's got a Tim Burton vibe all the way through.
I highly recommend it. It's not really an indie with
with with these creators, but it's an awesome movie. I
will will laugh out loud and you will thank me later.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
All right, all right, well, stay tuned until twenty twenty
five when I give you my review of Lisa Frankenstein.
But wow, okay, very cool.
Speaker 5 (03:52):
For people on it's a fun movie.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
P features. What do you got?
Speaker 4 (03:55):
Well, I'm definitely going to add on dead Pool and
Wolverine because there was way too much hype about that
and I was part of it.
Speaker 6 (04:03):
Of second, I would put Dune two.
Speaker 4 (04:08):
And lived up to that, looked up to all the
hype that I was hearing about it for me at least,
and in my third third movie, I'm I actually, I
want to say a quiet place.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
It was good. Yeah, there's nothing nothing wrong with that.
I feel like you're just grasping at straws here, but
you didn't feel sound very confident in that answer.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
You sure, I'm sure because I'm thinking about it. I'm
thinking about it in the sense of movies that I
really liked as movies like if there if there wasn't
a book attached to it at all, Like would I
go watch it again?
Speaker 6 (04:50):
Yes? The Quiet Place definitely.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Fitted that, but also cements it as a franchise because
it's more than just that singular story, now you know
what I mean, Like now they make the he makes
a lot more sense, and it's you're right, it's great, outstanding,
all right. The one I'm the most excited for.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
That I was gonna say, like, not necessarily in this order,
but it kind of is in this order. Done Too,
probably my favorite of the year. There are take the
movies for that are appropriate for the show. These are
those movies. There are some other movies that came out that, like,
I like Twisters, Like that was pretty fun.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
You can break up Twisters. I feel.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Necessarily it ties into this.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
I feel like there was a Tornado or a comic
book somewhere.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
That's a good point. Gladier two was kind of cool,
but uh, for the purpose of the show. Done too.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes really enjoyed that
and my number three, I don't care what anybody says.
I still enjoyed it better than some other movies. Joker Too, Wow,
(06:02):
Joker Too.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
This is the best is the best word.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Loscow. Losco just wants the internet clips. Moscow is like
he's gonna clip this personal preference. Well, hey, yes, you're
absolutely right, one hundred personal preference. Nobody's questioning that.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
We can edit this part of the show.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
No, no, no, I it wouldn't if anyone was gonna
say my Joker Too, it was gonna be Moscow. And
I completely understand why. It's a very much. He's the
target audience more than who we thought the target audience was.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
What do you mean by that?
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Was that?
Speaker 1 (06:41):
What do you mean by that?
Speaker 2 (06:42):
Well, because the people expected it to be for comic
fans and it was not. Yeah, it's more for for
for movie fans than it is for comic fans. And honestly,
if you take the name Joker off of it, no
one would complain about that movie. You take the comic
aspect away from it, take o, take it away from Arkham,
take it away from anything that we know of through Batman,
and it's an outstanding movie that is an homage to
(07:04):
The Joker. Yeah, yeah, none, no one can plain I
mean to the musical. Yeah, I mean the rest of it.
We would.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
Story is fine.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
The story is fine. All right, Well then I am
my first two are not going to be shocking diplomat
wolvery Number one a close second. Really had to go
back and forth on this one is Transformers one. All right,
Transformers one is the sleeper hit for me because it's
I've never been more excited about a Transformers project since
Transformers won the comic I welcome you. Yah. Yeah, I
(07:38):
might not get the names right. I might not get
the names right now.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
For the record, that is one I did not see,
so you should see it.
Speaker 6 (07:44):
You got to see it.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
It is streaming on Paramount Plus. Now go watch it.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
And since you know Moscow wants to you know, to
go out of the box here, I'm going to say
my favorite was The Crow. I'm just kidding. No, I'm
just kidding. It's the wrong list. I'm just I'm just kidding.
If I had to pick one, like I want to say,
Dune two is the best of the movies, but it
(08:11):
is a little slower. Oh, I probably gonna I'll go Dune.
I'll go Dune. I would have said it was tough
between Alien and Dune, but I'll go Dune. But dead
Pool Wolverine is still to win.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
Sorry, So dead Pool Wolverine is our number one. Sorry, Moscow.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
How many times did Dune to come up?
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Way more than I thought?
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Actually it would have been three. So yeah, it's still dead.
Speaker 5 (08:40):
Poeh've been watching the Dune show.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
And that's why dead Pool Wolverine is number one, because
even after Dune two, we were like.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
That, I don't really want to watch the next thing.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
I'm so backed up. I mean, I still.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
You can take some stuff for Moscow, made hew.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
I'm missing Yellowstone right now.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
It's a good show. Actually I'm not completely caught up,
but what I've seen is good.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
All right, Well, speaking of shows, let's let's move over
to TV. All right, Houston, let me hear it. What
do you got? What's your three?
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Well, since I mentioned in last week's last week's issue
supermana Lois.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
I get it?
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Okay, Yeah, all right, Agatha all along because I was
not expecting that to be as good as it was.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
Okay, and my number one, which I hoping assuming it's
gonna be on a lot of our lists. X Men
ninety seven, Oh wow, Penguin didn't even make his three shocking,
That is shocking.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
I might take one tally on this one because I
think it's gonna be all over the place.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Yeah, here we go. I'm already I'm already shocked. All right,
what do you got for me? Buzz a lot?
Speaker 5 (09:49):
I mean for me, it was Penguin Agatha Boys season four?
Speaker 2 (09:53):
Okay, I get that twice, Like, don't get me wrong.
I love Dagatha, but I'm shocked that that's up there twice. Okay,
all right, features, what do you got?
Speaker 6 (10:03):
X Men ninety seven?
Speaker 2 (10:04):
All right?
Speaker 6 (10:05):
Agatha all along? Wow, I listen. I love the Agatha
all alone. I thought it was great.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
And then.
Speaker 6 (10:15):
Okay, so I have a question. Didn't the Last of
Us come out this year?
Speaker 3 (10:20):
No?
Speaker 1 (10:21):
I was like two.
Speaker 3 (10:22):
That was like almost two year and a half ago.
I get it, though it feels like it should be
just stands you.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
Did you see a new trailer for it?
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Oh that hugs your heart? You know what I mean? Yeah?
Because that was but you're you're confusing it with Fallout,
which is the better show.
Speaker 5 (10:36):
That was my honorable mention.
Speaker 6 (10:38):
Was Fallout, Fallout was fire.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
Let's say Penguin features.
Speaker 6 (10:45):
I am going to say to Penguin, because I would
be a liar if I didn't.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
Yeah, that's fair. Still, I'm amazed that it wasn't the
first thing out of all of your mouths. All right, Moscow,
no controversy here, really?
Speaker 1 (11:01):
So number one Sweet Tooth, okay, okay, makes sense, that's
a Fallout okay. Number three Penguin.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Yeah, okay, yeah, that's all right. Controversy throw throw me
for a loop on that one, and then throw me
for loop. I mean Penguin number one, Penguin number one.
I would also say fallout. I would also fall out
so far I bought the game again. I'm now deeply
invested into Fallout four again because of that show. I'm
very excited for it to come back. So I would.
(11:31):
I'd have to go there. X Men ninety seven, Yeah,
that's probably gonna be my three? Am I missing something? No,
that's gonna be my three? Yep, that's my three. So
what are you saying, Penguin?
Speaker 5 (11:44):
Hi?
Speaker 6 (11:44):
I think it's X Men and Penguin at No, it
might be X Men.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Penguins, Penguin.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
I guess Penguin.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Yeah, wow, wow, and you know what, I need to
take a revote. I can't argue, all right, So here's
there's five of us we could real quick, all right.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
Here's the Here's the funny thing though, because you could
also consider Skeleton Crew and Creature Commandos in this. But
I look at it because it's not a full season enough.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
It's too soon, not enough and very well one episode,
two episodes in, so no.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Better than But.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
Mashka I said it, moshco Penguin or Agatha. Penguin features
Penguin or Agatha.
Speaker 6 (12:26):
Damn this tough penguin buzz.
Speaker 5 (12:31):
I'll tell my wife.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
There you go, Jeweye.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
Between the two, i'd say Penguin, yeah, damn right at
the beginning, Look all right, removed I removed super Superman
and Lois for Penguin.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
Yeah, because Penguin was just that good and Superman and
Lois is great. Don't get me wrong. From what I understand,
I didn't see it. But let's let's move over to comics.
Let's move it, because this I think is going to
be a weirder on because we were all over the
place and everybody was firing on all cylinders. Daredevil was
great this year. Captain America was great this year, you
know what I mean, like we had there, there was
(13:09):
books you wouldn't normally. Plastic Man was great this year,
Like this is we're all over the place this year,
and we already and we know we also have the
Absolutes and the Ultimates and is a Biggie. So top
three it's gonna be rough. I don't even know if
I'm ready for this one on myself, but we'll throw
it to Huey first. Huey, what do you got? All right?
Speaker 3 (13:28):
Absolute Batman? Okay, all right, of course I have to
go with this. Uh Power Rangers to return.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
I do not blame you at all.
Speaker 6 (13:39):
That was really good.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
Amy J.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Johnson killed that book, yes she did. And then right,
it's a toss up between, of course, Transformers and the
new Turtle reboot.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
Transformers one wasn't this year, right, that was last year.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
It started in October last year. Yeah, I thought, I mean, yeah,
not this year.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
No, the yeah, the current arcs of Transformers. But I'm
gonna go Turtles just because it's Yeah, I'm a little
more excited right now for the Turtle reboot than I
am for the continuation of the Transformers, even though I'm
still excited for Transformers.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
I get it. Transformers is still great, but it does,
very much like the movie, start to feel the same,
Like each issue doesn't like it's progressing, but it all
kind of jumbles together a little bit. Yeah, I'm oddly.
I think I'm enjoying g I Joe Moore. I like Turtles,
(14:39):
Moscow found the Buttons. Okay, so we got we got
Absolute Batman, we got Ninja Turtles and what was the
other one? Power Rangers, bat Paringers, All right, Buzzington, what
do you got for us?
Speaker 5 (14:51):
Absolute Batman? The new TMNT an Ultimate Spider Man?
Speaker 6 (14:56):
Oh there you go?
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Right? All solid? Can't say word about that features?
Speaker 4 (15:02):
Okay, so I am definitely going Ultimate spider Man my
personal favorite. Iheartskull Crusher and man, uh, I'm definitely gonna
say Absolute Batman because I it's just it's too good.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
I get that.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
I get it all right, Moscow, where are you at?
Speaker 1 (15:23):
Ultimate Spider Man? Daredevil? And then it's it's kind of
a toss up, and it all depends on I think
by the time the show comes out, the final issue
will come out, uh, and that will really determine whether
or not this book was any good is deviant.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
Yeah, that's kind of my.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Next I think it's like this issue, so that's kind
of the wildcard. But like all the G I. Joe
stuff has been awesome and the bulk of it has
come out this year. Yeah, it's like three and a
half I have.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
Uh, well, I mean, I guess it doesn't really matter
what my three are because Ultimate Spider Man wins. It's
Ultimate spider Man, Absolute Batman, but Absolute Batman didn't get
picked five times, so absolutely so Ultimate Spider Man wins.
I think my right, it doesn't really matter because it's
(16:21):
probably absolute. But uh, falling in Love Falling in Love
on the Path the Hell is really good. Beneath the
trees where nobody sees was really good.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
Down by the dock in the shed, I'm.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
Gonna go with so far. I really am enjoying Falling
in Love on the Path to Hell. I don't know
if i'd call it the best book I read this year,
but because it's the most frequent on my mind, like
I'm upset I didn't read it for last week.
Speaker 6 (16:48):
That's your personal faith, then, yes, but.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
It doesn't matter. Ultimate Spider Man wins. Yeah, we kind
of know it. We kind of know it. So Ultimate
Spider Man is the best, is I would say, our
comic pick of the year, then yeah, pull, even if
Moscow disagrees dead Pull Wolverine. It's our pick for movies
and Penguin his hands down our pick for TV. You
got two of three, Moscow fun all right? I think again,
(17:15):
hell of a year, Hell of a year. We had
a lot of really good stuff. I mean, the Predator
Versus series, I mean, well, Black Panther wasn't the greatest,
Wolverine was outstanding.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
It was definitely great well, and there's things to be
excited for there.
Speaker 5 (17:29):
Frankenstein was fantastic.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
Frank Is a creature from the Black Lagoon was really good.
Like the whole Monster Verse was pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
Captain America's coming back around.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
Captain America is it was really good in the beginning,
got fizzled a little bit, but then got really good again.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
So I think this fourth quarter gave us a lot
of like the best big story arcs as well, Like
Blood Hunt was phenomenal, war until it until it you know,
tapered off round it.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Until it wasn't. Yeah, that almost made my like the
initial five issue run almost made my list.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
It was good with that, really really good. Yeah, wins
all around and Power Rangers. Look, I know that's not
the most popular answer, but Power Rangers return really rad
That was good.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
You did that.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
We're proud of you. We're very proud of you.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
You watch was it something that I still continue to
read month after month? And that's that's where it was.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
They came out with a return to I'd pick it
up Powrangers.
Speaker 3 (18:23):
I think you know, for me, it was old nostalgia
of like actually Amy Joe Johnson writing it. Yeah, it
was just it was just a fun continuation of what
could have been from their original story.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
She was on something recently, like Entertainment tonight. They were
talking about something she was actually was talking about the
comic book, which that was kind of cool.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
That's great.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
Yeah, that's awesome.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
Well, I think that's that's our list, man. I mean,
we we obviously know there's there's plenty of crap movies
and crap books and crap TV shows that came out
this year.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
That's why we're making this one shorter because the worst
of is going to be about an hour long.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
Don't give them falsehood, man, We're keeping a time limit.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
We are. But look, look how about war came out
this year? Well games, well games, I.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
Know there are a couple of things I know we
didn't pre it's just planned on this.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
It doesn't matter though, It's just Spider Spider Man two
is the best Spider Man two game.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
I mean, we're in the midst of this Marvel Rivals thing.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
Yeah, but it's not better than Spider Man not not
not yet at least maybe, But there's no The story
of that game is that game has the same kind
of a lore around the story that the New Ultimates
book do. Like I'm excited to see where they're going
to take things. I want to see how they're going
to switch things up and how they're changing things, you
(19:40):
know what I mean, Like I I love what they're
doing with that world so much that I do truly
believe that should be the Miles Peters story moving forward.
Like I would rather get rid of continuity as been
as has been with those two and just implant the
game and just move forward as that was, that was
how it always was.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
Do you think it's a disservice that they are not
adding a DLC suspired on two.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
One hundred percent, a million, bazillion percent. I don't know
what the hell Sony or whoever's thinking getting rid of
the third game that was supposed to come out dumb.
Not doing a carnage story dumb, and obviously they set
it up for that. But I think what happened was
is the Venom portion of the game, as short as
(20:24):
it was, was so popular that they just went, screw it.
We're just going to turn the carnage thing into its
own game. They're going to do what to Venom that
they did with Miles, where Miles got his short in
between game. Venom will get a short in between game
before we move on to whatever the hell they're replacing
the Web of Shadow, whatever the hell was, Web of Something,
web of Life, whatever that game was supposed to be.
(20:44):
I think it is Web of It doesn't matter. It
would have been the greatest game. The amount of money
they would have made it sickens me. If you don't
know what I'm talking about. The Great Web, that's what
it was called, The Great Web. Go to YouTube type
in the Great Web trailer and b be amazed that
they dropped this game as completed as it was. Stupid,
(21:06):
stupid stupid. Now you pissed me off. I was all
excited and happy about the beast of this is good.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
I'm getting fired up. What's next? And everybody should stay
tuned for next week's episode. It's gonna be a good one.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Well, what are what are some runner ups? Then? Like,
what are some honorable mentions? Since we have a couple
of minutes to spare m because there's some There were
some really really good ones.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
Yeah, I kind of like that.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
Ntil the end, yeah, Echo, the last couple episodes Echo.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
Was was Titans great until the end?
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Yes? Yes, but Titans Titans repeated the same every season.
But no, the I I would agree the what's it called?
I'm losing it? What were we just talking about? I
just if they if they cut out the supernatural element
(22:04):
of Echo and they just left it be that story
of her and keep it more grounded, it would have
been a zillion times better. It was the trying to
connect it to the heritage, Yeah, the overhanded aspect of it,
because they still could have done all that. It was
just when they gave her powers, where her ancestors were
showing up and fighting with her, it just didn't translate. Well,
I don't think the first phenomena was that we.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
Think we're seeing her in Daredevil.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
Yes, she'll, she'll make an appearances. Daredevil's not showing up
at her show for her not to make an appearance
in his True And I don't think she's getting another
seasons Hawkeye this season.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
Make sure you walk watch Hawkeye. It's your Christmas show.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Yeah we did. We always watched the watched the final episode.
But Hawkeye is definitely that.
