Speaker 1 (00:01):
Crad comic podcaster.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Hey, what's up everybody.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
It's Monday, October thirteenth, and welcome back to that comic podcast.
I'm your host Mashco and with me today are two
of the most wonderful and I say this every time
hosts that we have here on the channel.
Speaker 4 (00:21):
Mister p Features Hello, internets.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Hello, we usually do know No, that's somebody else. And
we also have Lance. It's just Lance today. It's not
Lance a lot.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
Or Lance in the pants.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Lance in the Pants.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
Well, we're gonna just dive right into things because that's
what we do now, you know, a little a little
less banter in the beginning. But this past weekend, last
four days or so, New York Comic Con was in
full force and there's a lot to cover from that,
but we chose at least for this show to cover
really just one and that's the Marvel TV panel, which
(01:03):
was really kicked off with a bunch of different things,
but really the wonder Man trailer came out. I know
we've been kind of waiting for that to see, and
so we're.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Gonna talk about that real quick.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
Daredevil Born Again season two, spider Man brand New Day
had some information regarding Daredevil Born Again season two, Little
X Men ninety seven leak that kind of happened.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Yeah, I know you guys are excited for that.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Yeah, a whole bunch of other things, Vision Quest, There's
all kinds of fun stuff. So let's just get right
into it with wonder Man. And who is wonder Man?
Speaker 5 (01:40):
Okay, so wonder Man is by trade and actor turned
superhero Simon.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
Williams is his name.
Speaker 5 (01:50):
He's gifted his superpowers when he was in Bue with
ionic energy, and he started off as a villain that
we're really a pawn under Baron's EMO to infiltrate the events.
Obviously that failed, he unlived and then they brought him
back YouTube.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
But wonder Man, wonder.
Speaker 5 (02:14):
Man is is, He's a He's a very unique character
and then at in that stance where he primarily is
an actor but he's also a superhero, and I think
it's yeah, it's it's really cool, but I think more
interesting enough with with this this trailer and how how
Marvel is choosing to treat the wonder Man show.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
It looks like they're just going to lean into him
being an actor.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
Yeah, yeah, that was that was So this was real quick.
I mean it's more or less a teaser, very little,
uh current day wonder Man. I guess you could say
a lot of backstory, the what the the Supreme Chancellor
of Bravia's if you notice that, Yeah, I mean it
will forever be the King of brav or whatever.
Speaker 6 (03:05):
It kind of had that vibe like Seth Brogan's show
about is it the studio I think it's called, or.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
The award winning Yeah, awards for.
Speaker 6 (03:18):
Right right, That's the vibe I kind of got from
this wonder Man trailer.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Behind the scenes kind of Yeah, it's like, yeah, the trailer,
it gives off that day.
Speaker 5 (03:31):
Like you said, they're they're treating wonder Man himself as
just a story, not a real actual hero. So yeah,
it does seem like we're going to focus more on
the acting. And I thought one of the funnier things
was it looks like the guy who played the Mandarin
or the fake Mandarin. Yeah, he's in it with him
(03:54):
and the guy at one point they go, he looks familiar.
I don't, I just can't place it. And the like
he was a terrorist.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
I mean, it's gonna be interesting to see where this
fits in. I know, I think they came up with
this I don't know how many years ago at this point,
and decided to just go through with it, even though
all the backlash from all the other shows happened.
Speaker 6 (04:17):
So this isn't a gun project.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
I mean maybe who knows. It's weird.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
It just seems kind of, you know, out of place.
I know they're I don't want to necessarily throw out
the diversity card on this one, but it's it just
seems like it's just out of nowhere. Like, yeah, a
very obscure character, at least to me. You know, I'm
always the just the normal guy, not the like you
(04:50):
guys like to say. But I guess my big question
is why should I care about this show other than
you know, hopefully it's entertaining.
Speaker 5 (04:59):
H Well, all right, so here's a here's a I
don't know if it's a little known fact, but there's
a fact about wonder Man. Uh his actual brainwave patterns
or what was are were designed or actually what what
visions brainwave patterns were designed as. So technically Vision is
wonder Man in a sense.
Speaker 6 (05:20):
Oh okay, he's still vision interesting.
Speaker 5 (05:22):
Yeah, it did like wonder Man has a lot of
a lot of backstory with the Avengers. So and like
I said, it'll be very interesting to see how Marvel
chooses to treat this character with this show. It's but
going off with things that we've already said. It's starting
to feel like this might not this might be bad
to say, but it might come off like she Hawk Okay.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
Okay, Yeah, like.
Speaker 5 (05:48):
It was Ali McBeal who could turn green and power
lift like one hundred tons, Like that's what she Hawk was.
But they still stay true to her comic book origins
if you know, you actually read the comic but wonder
Man and it's something they can really, I really kind
of take a little a little left if they wanted to,
because he's right, he's not a popular character like.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
That, right.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
I mean that's probably where they're like, well, we could,
we could sneak the show in. Hopefully it'll be good
and entertaining for you know, whomever, even though it's you know,
when you have the classic mcu fans, it might be
a tough sell. I think I've definitely read a lot
(06:31):
of things from people that are like, why are we
doing this?
Speaker 6 (06:35):
They showed us so little with that trailer that you know,
we could be completely all in from the next trailer.
This was just kind of a hey, we're making this
and you're gonna just have to deal with it for now.
Speaker 5 (06:50):
It is kind of funny too to notice how with
the shows they're giving us very little. But like with
these big major movie releases, you see like every.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
Rumor just popping out boom boom boom. We had hit
that daily both.
Speaker 5 (07:05):
Oh yeah, But like with the shows, I feel like
I feel like they want the shows to be like
that little surprise and delight, so they're like, yeah, here's.
Speaker 4 (07:13):
This thing, just a little bit of salt, don't worry.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
It's just so hard now though, because everyone's just really
turned off to the idea of Disney plus you know shows. Yeah,
I mean even again, the we can go back to
Fantastic four, we can go back to a brave New World,
the Thunderbolts. You know, not a lot of satisfied MCU
(07:38):
customers out there right now. And when this drops January
twenty seventh of twenty twenty six, in a few short months,
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (07:49):
I don't know, it could be interesting. It kind of
shows you where the MCU is at as far as
retention with the audience. So I think that'll be really
telling for that kind of gap between the last arc
and the Doomsday Secret Wars.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
Yeah, the acceptance of new characters in the MCU have
been pretty pretty bad. So yeah, you know, personally, I
hope it does well.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
I hope it's entertaining, and I hope it gets me.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Keeps me filled up until March of twenty twenty six,
when ye season two of Dared Devil Born Again comes out.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Yeah, I am super happy for that.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
So at the panel, there was a trailer that was
played for the people within the halls as of you
know whatever time right here on Sunday. Actually, well I
already said what day it is, but we're recording this
on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
So whatever the nothings leaked from.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
That particular uh trailer or panel other than people stating
what actually happened, So to give you an idea, you know,
there were there was footage played. You did see Kristin
Ritter as Jessica Jones. You saw Matthew Lillard, who's kind
of the new the new name of and he's playing
(09:19):
mister Charles, which I'm not familiar with. I just understand
he's the antagonist too or prote Yeah, antagonistic to Kingpin.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Correct.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
Yeah, and then also within this trailer, Foggy was shown.
So is that is it ghost Foggy or yeah, or
is it brand new Foggy or real Froggy.
Speaker 5 (09:44):
I think we're definitely getting Foggy back, and it's going
to be it's probably gonna be a little bit of
story whereverybody's like what I thought, so how but I
think that part of the stories is probably gonna be
like one of the bigger one of the bigger outside
of you know, the main storyline that's happening, and a
scene like that, the Fenders coming to come together.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
That's that's the hope, right.
Speaker 6 (10:09):
I still was shocked watching all the way through season
one that they kept him dead. You know, I thought
it was going to be like a dream or something
that you know that it is going to be like, oh,
just kidding.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
But that was a storyline that we talked about it
weeks and weeks and weeks ago at this point. But yeah,
I don't necessarily know if it's or I don't remember
if it's like a witness protection thing, but somewhere.
Speaker 5 (10:38):
Yeah, it was something like that, and honestly, I think
that that's the beauty of of of it being a
TV show like we've been We've been kind of used
to the timeframe of movies, but with TV shows you
can like extend things like that to like from one
to the next. So it's it's and I honestly I
think that is that is a draw. Like we talked
a lot about that.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
We're foggy. No, he can't hit die He's a man
can but you know.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Yeah, the I guess the big takeaway from it, other
than you know, knowing now it's it's definitely going to
be out in March was the Matthew Lillard announcement that, yes,
I think came a little bit.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
Before this actually happened.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
But you know, things happen, we forget things, and and
the stuff happens again, and it's like, wow, that's that's
we I know, we had like a side conversation or
somebody was I think it was in our text chain
of you know, him being I think it was meant
he Menty said that he should have got an Oscar
for his portrayal.
Speaker 5 (11:38):
Yes, Matthew is a super talented actor, and honestly, now
that I'm seeing him currently, I was like, you know what,
why didn't he get him to play uh to play
uh John a blank on the on the on the villain.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
Well, I'm about to call him news sorry.
Speaker 5 (12:00):
Oh oh yeah, I think he would have been a
great muse now and I'm thinking about it like again, Yeah,
all it takes is like he draws on like from
playing past roles, like when he was in Scream.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
Matthew Lillard is he's a phenomenal actor.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
When you think of him, you think of uh Scream obviously, right,
you think of him as a.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
Villain in a way.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
So for him not to be or at least we're there,
we're being told he's not a villain in this show.
But you know how politicians are.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
Right, he's not your your prototypical villain that we see.
Speaker 6 (12:42):
And then in the Comic Comic Con he came to
the stage like he jumped up on stage like it
was a wrestling ring, like.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
That was his old man knees. I get that jumping
a lot, no more.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
Yeah, he was up on stage. Christian Ritter, huge fan.
She was up there.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
I still love the fact that she filmed all this
while also doing Dexter and was a lible to play
off as if it was just Dexter's fantastic.
Speaker 6 (13:09):
Her Planner is killing it.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
Yeah, there were I think Burntal canceled last minute to
not be at nycc TO. I'm guessing either, you know,
go back to the Spider Man production. But I also
thought I heard that Dnofrio missed like two out of
four days due to filming, So I think Charlie Coxton too,
(13:34):
like everybody was missing a couple of days here and there.
Speaker 5 (13:37):
I wouldn't complain. That just means they're hard at work
getting a thing done that we want to see, right.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
But that's the big thing that we've now heard from
coming out of this Daredevil Born Again is that there
will be a direct connection between that and Brand New Day,
So and I'll Marvel TV boss Brad Winderbomb revealed that
the con and I quote, we are communicating a lot
(14:04):
with the team on Spider Man Brand New Day to
make sure that there's coherence there. He also said, we
don't want to spoil anything, but it very much exists
in the same world and it is very important. So
that's pretty awesome to hear because with Daredevil coming out
in March and then Spider Man in July, July thirty
first to be exact, that's going to be a nice
(14:27):
little little movie. We are, And I mean that explains
maybe why Burnhal and everybody kind of went to London
for so we think, yeah, so exciting, exciting stuff. Do
you guys hear anything new out of Spider Man?
Speaker 2 (14:44):
They've been pretty quiet.
Speaker 6 (14:46):
Now you're really quiet, like they're not releasing anything about that.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
Yeah, the initial other the only thing I heard was
Punisher won't you won't see Punisher killing anybody in brand
new Day, which I mean we kind of thought.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Oh.
Speaker 6 (15:02):
We also did hear Trump firmed that Tom Holland will
not be in Doomsday. I did hear that, Yeah, nice
is not Spider Man, but Tom Holland specifically.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
Yeah, and Garfield said, fuck no, I'm not going to
be in it, to quote him. So if we believe them,
then that leaves us with Toby, which we kind of
thought was going to happen, or we heard was going
to happen. Whether it happens, I think a little bit
of both.
Speaker 5 (15:31):
Because around the time we got the the We're going
over the rumor of the Anchor beings being a thing
about it, Toby Maguire Spider Man was said to be
an anchor being from his universe, so that would make sense.
Speaker 6 (15:45):
Yeah, yeah, interesting exciting stuff.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
I mean obviously Brand New Day isn't the part of
the TV universe, but I guess the tie in has
to happen if mister Cox is going to be in that,
I think you will plus Punisher chock full, you know,
huge year of stuff, and this is I don't really
(16:11):
care about this, so you can kind of understand or
if anybody who listens to the show and watches the
show now knows animation is a huge.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
Thing for me.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
But X Men ninety seven there was a huge leak
so all this stuff. So they showed the trailer to
this at the this Marvel panel that happened, But then
there was a secondary panel which was a Q and
A with I guess the producers of the show, and
somebody snuck in a phone and was able to get that.
Everybody can see it online. We're not gonna, you know,
(16:47):
show it here posted. That's you know, is what it is.
But did you guys get a chance to see it.
Speaker 4 (16:54):
I didn't see the panel, but I.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
Think, yeah, yeah, it looks like they're taking a different
path and it's going to be a lot more violent.
Speaker 5 (17:08):
I feel, like, listen, honestly, I with with the way
that it looks like it's going. It might have to
be to to explain some of the things that they
might the storylines that they're going to go through. Like, honestly,
from what I saw, if they are going to do it,
I am, I am. I'm on board. Like because Age
(17:29):
of Apocalypse, bro, if they have that in ninety seven,
I I don't even know. I can't explain the feeling
I feel right now, any excitement, because that's that's like
one of my favorite X Men story arcs, Like that's
the one Apocalypse finally wins something.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
Right, like he's taking over.
Speaker 5 (17:50):
Hey, listen, listen, Okay, Cyclops does not suck, and especially
in the Age of Apocalypse storyline, he does not suck.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
Where they're again. First season it kind of just passed
me by. Were there people or mutants shown that you
didn't see in the first season that popped up in
this trailer?
Speaker 1 (18:11):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (18:11):
Colossus right, Colossus cable.
Speaker 5 (18:17):
Cable show, Yes that Superboy went super super And I
think one of the in our chat, I affwarded one
of the photos of them prem showing the the X
Men that will be in the next season. Siloc was
actually there, she wasn't in the first season, so that
would be cool to see her too.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
And yeah, Bishop Bishop was.
Speaker 4 (18:40):
Bishop was in the first season, but he didn't have
a big role.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
Got it have a big role? Bishops cool?
Speaker 4 (18:47):
He's all right.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
Any I mean, any other takeaways from that. I know
they're like, there's a lot of fans of the show
out there.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
They you know, Oh, I.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
Do have a point. The I forget who the guy
was on stage. It must have been a producer or something.
But he brought up Bo Tomeo's name, thanked him for
his work on the first season and the direction of
the show. You know, we don't have to rehash that.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
Whole Yeah, no, no, no, we don't have to.
Speaker 5 (19:27):
That was a lot of I think, I don't want
to say, unnecessary drama, but more likely it was. But honestly,
them them themselves showing like giving him props for that.
I think that's big and I hope, I hope it
quiets him down, because we don't. Yeah, he's he's all
(19:48):
he's going to do is tarnish the thing that he helped,
like grow into something spectacular.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
And if he didn't have.
Speaker 6 (19:54):
A hand on hand in season two, right, like.
Speaker 5 (19:56):
Yeah, yeah, he so according to him, if I'm remembering correctly,
when we were going through all that, he he had
already they had already had season two, it was already done.
So I think essentially what they what they did with
it was kind of just changed a few things here
and there.
Speaker 4 (20:13):
But his hand is still.
Speaker 5 (20:15):
Very much on a large part of this This next
season that they're supposed to do now season three, that
that might be all INMS. So if there's a drop off,
we would kind of know the reason, which.
Speaker 6 (20:25):
They did confirm they're working on season three right now. Yes, yes, yeah,
it's still going.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Maybe they bring them back.
Speaker 6 (20:37):
Maybe if wrestling has taught us anything, never say never.
Speaker 3 (20:43):
Yeah, Like, I'm like ninety five percent sure Jonathan Major
is coming back as Kang.
Speaker 6 (20:48):
Like I'm with youut doubt. I believe that's gonna happen,
even if it's for a one off.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
Just oh no, it will be a one off.
Speaker 5 (20:56):
I I think he'll be back, and I think it'll
be as much as a prize for everyone, because I
don't think that's something they're really going to announce, like
we only see it as a rumor. So I don't
think Marl was going to confirm more Tony it until
the movie drafts. Everybody goes ooh or Legos does something
(21:16):
because they spoil.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Yeah, they'll see that little mini fit anyway.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
X Men ninety seven Summer twenty twenty six. That kind
of takes us then into the fall for another animated
series that a lot of people loved, Your Friendly Neighborhood
spider Man. Yes, there was a trailer for season two
that was wow. Season two trailer was shown at this con.
It basically introduced the new the Venom Symbia, which awesome. Yes,
(21:48):
Gwen Stacy Charlie Cox's Daredevil was in it. It also
showed the return of Norman and Harry Osbourne, as well
as Doctor Doctor Pus, Chameleon and Scorpion, and the emergence
of Nico Menora's magical powers.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
Okay, so all.
Speaker 4 (22:04):
Right, yeah cool, pretty much like a direct follow u
from season one. I'm alright with that.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
I mean, if you love the first season, you're gonna
love the second season.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
Man, we got fit him.
Speaker 4 (22:15):
Let's not let's not push the album might be asking
for too.
Speaker 6 (22:19):
I feel like that would be an opportunity to screen
family Neighborhood.
Speaker 5 (22:23):
I mean it would be it'll probably be easier as
a cartoon than then put him in a live action movie, right,
And I'm glad you actually brought that up with a
Daredevil Daredevil showing up in the season two of Friendly
Neighborhood Spider Man, and then it will be voiced by
Charlie Cox. And just to spin the block on on Daredevil,
we didn't mention the suit with both these on them.
Speaker 6 (22:46):
Come on, yes, yes, Philosopher.
Speaker 4 (22:52):
First off, pause, but he's got the double ds on.
I was like, how do did you do?
Speaker 3 (23:00):
A clawback to the stuff we talked about before we
even started recording.
Speaker 2 (23:05):
I'm like, how does that work into this?
Speaker 5 (23:07):
But I think again, we'll go back to how Marvel's
pumping out the heroes and how they're showing up in
these movies. I love the comic accurate suits, and I think.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
Right, well, there was a this is just coming back
to maybe this is what you were also implying. But
he does have the double d's on the suit in
Born Again.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
All right, we saw that. Yeah, all right, go back
to your text messages. Man, You'll see that.
Speaker 6 (23:39):
It looks great. It looks to be as fun and
dark as the first one, and yeah, hype all around.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
Yeah, yeah, this is his fall. So there's no actual date,
it's just the fall. I imagine it'll be three months after
X Men ninety seven. It'd be cool if they did
it back to back. That'll keep things kind of kind
of flowing. But the other thing that was also shown
the trailer for Vision Quest. Now, I know we've all
(24:08):
been kind of waiting on this because this was announced
years ago. At this point, they there was finally a trailer. Again,
nothing shown. I didn't even really read anything about a
breakdown of said trailer.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
I couldn't find anything.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
Guys.
Speaker 6 (24:25):
Yeah, I'm actually I'm so hyphed for this. I love
the saga, the Wanda saga that's going on. I loved
a at the Wanda Vision multi verse and Madness was fine.
But this is what I've been waiting for. They did
cast Tommy. It was also doing a speed I can't pronounce.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
Try I don't. It's fine.
Speaker 6 (24:53):
Yeah, I would only butcher it, but I am excited.
It looks like an older take. They're going to have
him maybe be older than that twelve thirteen that we
kind of expected. So it's cool to see what they're
going to do with that, and then there's supposed to
be actual physical versions of Edith and Jarvis and Friday
(25:15):
all living in in Vision's head and I'm I'm ready
for it. This is what I am most hyped about.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
The just to add to that, the other thing is
there will be a human form of Ultron played by
James Speaker, who did voice Ultron, so it'd be pretty
cool to see live action James Spader.
Speaker 6 (25:35):
Yeah, yeah, I guess the dude from the Blacklist right exactly?
Speaker 4 (25:44):
That is him.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
Yes, again, no real date on that, it's it is
coming out. I don't probably if you know, we plan
these things out the same way, which we should.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
Yeah, likes it.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
You know, October, November, that kind of thing. And you know,
that just leaves us with two other things for the
remainder of the year that are actually on schedule. There's
there's no date, but the Punisher Special will be out
at some point in twenty twenty six.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
You know.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
