Speaker 1 (00:01):
Right Comic Podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Welcome back to another issue of that Comic Podcast. I
am your host, features joining my other co hosts. First,
we got the Enigmatic, the host of Horror Bustle.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Halloween's over, but the chainsaws are still out there. We go.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
And then if you heard that laugh, you're hearing the
laugh of none other than Lando the Panda. Come on, man,
you gotta change that, all right. He doesn't suck. He's
about to have his own book next year. You know
that it's going to be fire, all right? X men
talk aside. We're here today to discuss episodes one and
(00:51):
two of Welcome to Darry. Should I say, should I
call it it welcome to Darry or we're just welcome
to Darry.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
Good welcome to.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
You know what? That that actually might have worked out
a little bit better. I don't think they thought that
went through. Oh okay, So first, first of all, let's
let's let's establish to the general audience, who, if they
don't know, are not aware what it is that is
so funny. I think I want to said that a
few times. But it is a Stephen King novel focused
(01:26):
on the character Penny Wise, who we know that as
it is penny Wise the Clown, and with this new show,
Welcome to Darry, you're pretty much learning the origins and
how he came to be in the town of Dry which,
Oh my goodness, I think I've been waiting for this.
I I'm old somewhere, yeah, forever, it's the pride. I'm
(01:51):
old now. I've been waiting for this for a long
time because I'll.
Speaker 5 (01:55):
Tell you, watch that first one on TV when it
came out, right, Yeah, that's how I remembered it.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
So that's the funny thing. I feel like the people
who are drawn into it now, the newer fans, they're
being spoiled because they got like all this cool cg
and everything. We had Tim we had we had Tim Curry,
not Tim Currey.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Curry is the man.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
Yeah, Tim Curry, and he was awesome. He scared the
hell out of me as at the clown. Uh listen
so much so. And I tell this too to my
auntie one time.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Was talking about it.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
I was like, he stuck. I was like, I watched it.
I watched it in pieces, then I watched it one
whole time, and I was like, I could never watch
it again, like unless it has like a certain amount
of time has to pass by because it's still there's
certain scenes in there that still get to me and
I'm like, yeah, no, I can't do that.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Yeah, he's brutal, He's still it still holds up a
little bit.
Speaker 5 (02:50):
I mean a lot of people I know my age
are scared of clowns because of the Tim Curry penny
Wise and ironically, you know it. It premiered in the
nineteen as a television serial, so it was basically a
movie broke down into a TV series and now we're here,
we are watching a TV series on it's just kind
of heading back that way.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
It's sweet like it. It looks amazing and all of
the different forms we're getting it right now, and I
never know what's going to pop up to scare me next.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
And yeah, I'll be honest with you.
Speaker 5 (03:26):
I've seen a lot of stuff, and I've seen some
stuff that people said.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
Was scary and it wasn't.
Speaker 5 (03:31):
And then I watched first in the first episode and
was like, damn, okay.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
I'm going to work. Tell my boss like, yo, man,
you see that new episode. He's like, is it good?
I'm like, just go watch it.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
Yeah, Like that's that's all you can do you don't
want to spoil it for anybody?
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Now that's that good, right?
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Sorry? So now so we're here now, so I'm going
to ask you, guys, we'll rend robin first episode, episode
one of Welcome to Darry, How do we feel about it?
Speaker 3 (03:57):
Lance?
Speaker 4 (03:57):
I stopped up all right.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
So I wasn't super blown away by the first episode,
like it had the gore, it had the scares and everything,
but it did feel like a lot of fan service
in it, and I thought that was the direction. They
were going to go a lot of Easter eggs from
like different Stephen King novels and movies and stuff, and
I'm like, okay, is this is its entire show going
(04:20):
to be fan service?
Speaker 4 (04:21):
But by the time it ended, I.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Was like, all right, I want more, but I'm not
as excited for the first episode.
Speaker 5 (04:30):
Okay, Well I was going to say, too, man, You're
not wrong for mentioning the fan service, because if I'm
not mistaken, when it was announced, they basically were leading
into the idea that they were going to do a
King universe. So you know, a year or two, I
don't know how many it was leading up to episode
one drop, and you know, you kind.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
Of knew you were going to get it.
Speaker 5 (04:48):
You knew you were going to get your little things
because much like the Marvel you everybody's got there. You now,
you know, I got enough material you can do a King.
You you know, they just wrapped Carry the remake. And
so yeah, you're not wrong for the fan service comment
because it is kind of being done on purpose a
little bit, I think, because you're trying to do this
Stevin King universe rightfully.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
So and you know what they should they should one
hundred percent. Like if people understood how connected like all
of Stephen King's books actually were, I think will blow
people's minds. I think I think it really blew his minds.
Speaker 5 (05:22):
Oh yeah, I mean, you know, the decades of writing them,
how prolific each one was as they you.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Know, premiered in novel form.
Speaker 5 (05:29):
My first job was in a library, so naturally I
was organizing the horror books first, and that was my first.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Exposure to his stuff.
Speaker 5 (05:36):
And you know, I didn't read like everything, but the
concepts conceptually, like each one being different but similar also
just as twisted as the last, and like almost it's
kind of like a cult following, I would say. Over
the last thirty years, you know, or more forty years
really you.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Know, or more absolutely yeah, you know what, I would agree,
even though I only I've only met like one super
King fan. But like the way he speaks about the books,
you go like, Brian, yeah, you're you drunk the cool league.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
I know.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Yeah, it sounds like it tastes really wonderful, and I
hope I can get into it.
Speaker 5 (06:12):
But I have a buddy that's a King fan and
his life is defined by it, like everything right into
and creates his Wow.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
I bound some commissions for him because of it, and
it's pretty neat to see.
Speaker 5 (06:25):
I actually learned a lot about, uh, the connectivity of
the material from a friend who's just a die hard
fan for years, like before you know, the remake of
it and stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
Yeah, my dad was a big, big Stephen King fan,
like that caricature type of Stephen King fan, and and
he just handed me down the novels and I was
just reading them left and right, and you know, I
was reading goose Bumps at the time, and then going
from goose Bumps.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
Just there's a bit bit of a shift.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
There, right right. My thoughts though on on on episode
one was I won't lie. I felt like it started
off a little slow and it almost took me out
of it. But then.
Speaker 5 (07:16):
Yeah, I was like, all right, three quarters in, it's
a car wreck.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
It happens out of nowhere. And I think the best
part about it, I mean, we're two episodes in. We
can spoil things at this point, and I don't. I'm
not gonna worry too much about that. But I think
the most brilliant part about it is we haven't actually
seen penny Wise, not.
Speaker 5 (07:44):
To what the last of the second episode, the glim
the glimpse, Yeah, yeah, Like it's always cool to leave
out the big battie right away. Like the longer you
don't see it, the better the anticipation is. It's kind
of like a kill scene, and seeing it all play
out in front of you is horrific.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
Not seeing it, your mind fells in that gap.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Yes, yea, and.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
Sorry no good Christmas?
Speaker 5 (08:11):
Ye oh yeah, Black Christmas is phenomenal. I just watched
it the other night with my wife, and you know,
you can take.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
Her eyes off it.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
I think I think Welcome to Darry does a well.
It doesn't for me. It was a great job, but
I was say, an okay job at at bringing people
in and making you feel like you're a part of
the town because you're you're you're experiencing these things happened
with the people like they If if I can look,
(08:41):
if I can think back to like how how it
was when I was watching it, it felt almost like
I was a third party to everything.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Yeah, put you in the seat, you know, with with
the character.
Speaker 5 (08:50):
You get to know them, right, You get to know
like their idiosyncrasies and their daily life, right, and then
you start to like go down the spiral with them. Yes,
a slow start, you know, kind of leads you that
best that way. You know, if it opens with a
chainsaw attack, you know, you're kind of like already pushed back.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (09:11):
So you know, if you want to feel bad for
these kids getting like diced off easily, man, you get
to know them first and hang out with them, and
then when you lose them, you're.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
Like, what.
Speaker 4 (09:24):
Just so so aggressively.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Yeah, the craziest part was the way they the way
they got you into these kids' lives. You, like you
said it was, you felt for them, right, you were
with them the whole way through, and then the moment
you see them getting just execum men to coddle off
the screen. You're like, wait, I thought these were main characters, right,
(09:48):
what are we doing?
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Like? I think it? I think it.
Speaker 5 (09:52):
You know, it brings a brutality, right, there's a brutality
to it, so it's not pulling any punches.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
And if it pulls pulls punches, they get discs for it.
Speaker 5 (10:01):
So it's not pulling any punches, so people will do
what talk about it, you know, not to get off topic,
but like you know, Shane getting shot and walking dead
got people.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
To talk about it, so you kind of have to
do this stuff.
Speaker 5 (10:14):
You have to kill off a main character right away,
and that gets everybody chatting aboutance doing.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
Now, I would like to ask, would you guys have
loved this scene like more gore or horror in the
first episode than what we got again? And I'm not
saying that it wasn't enough, because it definitely hit when
it was opposed to.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
Write them out.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
Yeah, yeah, I do too. I think it's a good balance.
Speaker 5 (10:37):
If you're gonna do a Stephen King universe, you're basically
gonna do like a dairy universe, you know, North England,
New England universe. Yeah, I want you to give me
the backstories, give me some of the downtime stuff, so
I feel like I'm there, you know what I mean,
like Walking Again with Walking Dead, they did it too.
(10:58):
It was like you're hanging out and Alexandria and all
of a sudden, like they build to a problem. But yeah,
so I think, like you know, and also like Alien Earth,
you know, it's kind of like pull you into the world,
put you into the world, put you into the seat
with everybody, and then you get to experience the drop.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Off of the ride.
Speaker 5 (11:16):
So that when I saw the the behind, it was
like a clip of all the episodes, like like a
two minutes of like spoilers if you will. Oh yeah,
And I was like, oh man, like we might even
get twelve episodes.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
I was like, this is gonna be a while, like
we're in we're getting into a lot of stuff. I
think we're getting eight, which is solid, but.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
You know, yeah, it was already for a second season.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
I think.
Speaker 4 (11:43):
I don't think I mentioned a third season. Star videos
they're going to.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
Be in Yeah, there's no way. Yeah it's not.
Speaker 5 (11:52):
I don't think it's the kind of show with the
kind of fandom where they're like we'll see how season
one works right, Yeah, like everyone dresses up like this character.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
So go to the the second episode because I enjoyed
it way more.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
We will. There is something I want to address about
the first About the first episode. Uh when when that
little baby winged thing bust through the screen and it
starts ripping the kids, the streads Uh, Now, there was
there was one child who seemed to.
Speaker 4 (12:29):
Be uh taken out.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
Yeah, like they they just like left them alone, like
and there were there was that was like there was
that one scene she was reaching for the other girl
under the seat, but notice like the thing just it
comes where she is. And then when the lungs is down,
you know, of course they drop out and they're like,
all right, we'll see your next episode. But then when
it comes to we find out the other little girl
(12:57):
got taken away.
Speaker 6 (12:58):
Hm.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
So I've seen I've seen some clips where and it
kind of makes sense, especially if you know like the
some of the lore Stephen King's it. So she had
on her charm bracelet the little turtle, which is supposed
to be which is supposed to be the representation of
all things good from the same dimension that it comes from,
(13:20):
or pennywise comes from. So right, so some people are
speculating that it was because she had that charm on
her bracelet and he probably saw it and that's what
made him stay away from her, but got everybody else.
Speaker 5 (13:34):
Yeah, I feel I feel like it feeds on fear, right,
So right, that's what the military guys were saying.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
So the other kids were probably more fearful of.
Speaker 5 (13:43):
It, and so to become like easier snacks, right, and
so they go after them, you know what I mean.
So I love your charm like Easter egg, but it
relates to how it praise, you know what I.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
Mean, that's not as entertained by its when it's not
a phrase.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
It's it's power comes from the fear of.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
It, right, Okay. So m hm no, and I okay,
I get that because and you're right, even if you
look back at the at uh the first movie, not
you know, the more recent ones. Even at the end,
he plays around with him before he even starts to
get serious as far as like taking them out. So yeah,
(14:25):
he said he is.
Speaker 5 (14:26):
The entity works that way, you know it's working. Obviously
goes after the kid in the beginning.
Speaker 6 (14:33):
He's spiritually Philip, he's spiritually weak, so he's an easy target,
you know what I mean, Like he got picked up
when with the family, like the main girl is like
not not a chance in your life?
Speaker 3 (14:45):
Like back up, you know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (14:47):
Right right, it needs a philip.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
It's it's fear meters so that can release its ultimate ability,
you know.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Alright, So let's so let's uh, let's let's picked up
with episode two because right where we left off with,
you know, with the whole string of events happened at
the theater. You have the one child who was actually
locked in the in the real booth and she had
to bang her way out of the door with the hammer,
so she survived, and the other girl survived, and that's
(15:18):
the only two.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
So now.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
Episode two, it gets rough. It gets rough and still exciting,
but it gets rough. I would say, definitely, Lance, I'm
probably with you. Episode two is it was I want
to say, leaps and bounds, but it definitely is better
than episode one, which I appreciate. It completely dodged the
sophomore slump. But episode two I think gave off way
(15:51):
more exposition and yeah, I don't want to say that
enough horror, but yeah, but it was a lot more
of a blaming and there are some things that that
I think we're good about it that exposition because it
leads it's definitely leading into the next episode, which I
can't wait, all right, But I feel like good.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
A lot of character development. We got a lot of
more based story of what's going on in Darry. You
got to see what's going on with the military compound,
and it really leans leans into that fear factor of
it and why you know they chose the person they chose,
and like, I just really feel from a character and
(16:34):
story development, it really made you excited to watch more
rather than the first one where it was like, Okay,
this is this is Stephen King episode and the second
episode is welcome to Darry.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
Mm you like that?
Speaker 3 (16:50):
I mean, I can see what you mean. Yeah, you
probably see that.
Speaker 5 (16:53):
Throughout the the rest of the series, I feel like
each episode is going to hit us over the head.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
Oh you don't know if.
Speaker 5 (17:02):
There's a lot of writers on this and creators on this,
and so I think that there's like it's almost like
it's gonna shoot for that like stride that you know
covers all the bases really really well.
Speaker 3 (17:16):
Yeah, you're you already have.
Speaker 5 (17:19):
Four or five storylines going on right, prectors who are
unrelated in the same universe. I mean, I saw a
bit the other day that you know, uh, the military
character Hollerin.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
Is connected to Yeah.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
Yeah, It's like, yeah, they're they're they're building big.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
The whole episode had a thousand Shining Easter eggs, Like
this really didn't feel like the Shining Tribute episode, right.
Speaker 2 (17:45):
Right, But you know what, and this this goes back
to saying like the these are the little nuances and
easter eggs that if you are even the slightest bit
of a Stephen King fan, you'll you'll recognize those, recognize
those things, like, oh my goodness, they're doing it, They're
creating And again, I'm excited. I want the Stephen King universe.
I think that will. I think in terms of buzz
(18:08):
you can jump in on this. When I think in
terms of the horror genre having an update at Stephen
King Universe, I think, yeah.
Speaker 5 (18:18):
I mean it's their first time doing it. You know,
people who are die hard fans of stuff see the
connections before they're really publicly made. You know, it was
happening between Blade Runner and Legend and and everything that
really Scott's doing and he was like, yeah, I'm glad
people are finally catching it. So I think this is
(18:40):
like it's awesome because it's deliberate. Now it's deliberate, you
know what I mean. And King writing the stuff like
I'm sure might not have been like, you know, a
pre plan something that he was like, this is what
I'm gonna do.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
But I guess as.
Speaker 5 (18:54):
You're creating it, it sort of all does like take
a little piece from each recipe and like twelve course
meal that has a little bit of all of it,
and it all is like similar.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
You know, in aesthetic and so yeah, I mean, I'm.
Speaker 5 (19:08):
For a horror universe. I'm for a horror yeah, King universe.
I haven't read a lot of the material. I've read
some of it, so I'm excited for it in TV format,
movie format, you know, let's see what they can do.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
I'm sure they're gonna nail it.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
We got in the supermarket scene, they showed the baking powder, yeah,
and the training like six different times.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
You get this clip, get this, get this.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
Right.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
It was cool seeing all the different kids faces on
the cereal boxes and then the cereal boxes below had
clowns on them as well, and it was just like, Okay,
it's like this is this is doing this exposition right,
you know, because you're getting those easter eggs, but you're
also developing that story with those easter eggs.
Speaker 5 (20:01):
It makes me watchable, It makes it really you know,
there's things that I've watched. I'm like, nah, don't need
a second viewing on that.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
I got it. I told my wife the other night,
I'm like, you want to watch part two again? You know?
Yeah again, because like I'm sure I miss something.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
You know what I mean, Yeah, listen, I definitely have
to rewatch part two because, like again, like you said
at the end, when they chose one, let's let's let's
let's Also, I want to acknowledge I don't know who
all they are, who they all are, but the writers
on this show, I hope they are Stephen king Fins
because it does seem like they are getting a lot
of this information right and piecing it together very well
(20:40):
and a very good clip too. That's two episodes where
you are are not disappointing at all and are very
very aligned to what we know already and as far
as bringing everything all together, but them having like, for instance,
uh will againness, what's his name, last name, the the heir,
(21:00):
the army, the army guy. He's the grandfather of the
one guy in the in the version of Stephen King's
that we do know from the first film, So he's
the grandfather and it's it's crazy now like knowing that, well,
we don't know, but at some point we think that
he's going to experience dealing with with whether it's going
(21:24):
to be known as penny Wise or where they'll mention
it by another name. But you kind of see the
dead lights and he was like, oh, They're like, yeah,
we just want to make sure you aren't scared. He's like,
I mean, you could just ask. And I think that's
highly interesting because like even in the original adaptation of
(21:45):
Stephen King's It, at some point people go like, there
is something wrong with this town, and people acknowledge it,
but they don't really say what it is.
Speaker 5 (21:55):
It's funny because whenever I travel, I'll say to my wife,
this feels like a Stephen King town.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
Like Ponta train.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
Wow, yeah, but you know where they're going to go
from here. I think is probably even more interesting because
I have no idea what it is. I want to
tap the minds of of like mos some why but
by my Lord Heavy King fan guys, like.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
What are they going to do?
Speaker 2 (22:25):
What part of the origin are they going to take
it from here? Because it I haven't I've never heard
of it based around the town. I've always I've often
heard of the story of Pennywise the Clown through Pennywise
the Clown.
Speaker 5 (22:41):
Didn't they release a map and they had like Dairy
and all the other towns on it. It was like
maybe like a year ago or something when they.
Speaker 4 (22:48):
Announce I want to say, yeah for that promotion.
Speaker 5 (22:51):
Yeah, like a like a King Universe map where everything
happened all the different books.
Speaker 4 (22:58):
I don't know that I've seen it wrong about.
Speaker 5 (23:00):
That, but I could have swore I saw like a
map at some point that showed you where Dairy was.
It showed you where that scontary story was told. It
kind of had them all marked out.
Speaker 4 (23:11):
But that's pretty cool if that exists. I want one.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
Yeah, I don't know I'm a physical item. As much
as I saw it as a post.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Somewhere you know what you probably you probably did see
as a post. I just googled it real quick. But
there's a lot of like the like Reddit posts when
they have like the welcome and dairy sign and then
you can see where it's located at in the map.
So that's that's actually pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Yeah. I feel like I.
Speaker 5 (23:35):
Said, like I said earlier, I feel like like they're
you know, it's almost like running Dungeon and Dragon's campaign,
Like the more work you do, the better of the adventure.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
Yes, Like the more work that that's why it takes
a while to make this stuff. You know, you wait
years for this stuff.
Speaker 5 (23:48):
Yeah, because it's like the more work you do, like
realizing it, like it's good to wait.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
You want it to be good. You know.
Speaker 5 (23:55):
It's like when they press out a video game like
right away and it's got all the buds. Yeah, it's like,
take your craft, it make it great so that way
it's rewatchable, you know, and you can talk about.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
It for every time. You just put a thought in
my head that that true horror has patience. And if
somebody doesn't believe that, look at how Michael Myers and
Jason Boord he's operating, right, they watched.
Speaker 5 (24:20):
Like, yeah, outside those original movies, you know, they get
pretty shaky. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
I really like the direction that the show is moving
in with the with the military digging up what looked
like like a mobster car. Yeah, like one of those
old timey like twenties cars with the mobsters in it.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
And I'm trying to figure out how that, you know,
is going to tie in to what makes it it?
Speaker 4 (24:52):
You know, Yeah, because that way their car is. Oh
that's that's a solid point. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
Oh see, now I got I got you forgot about
you know what I mean?
Speaker 5 (25:08):
Like Dode, there be something on a piece of paper
on someone's desk in a scene, and it probably matters.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
Yeah, I'm telling you, like.
Speaker 5 (25:16):
I've never really made a movie, but I've looked at
the inside of movie making. Nothing is what it seems.
Everything is placed. It could be like decre for the era,
or it could be because it's gonna lead.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
Like that's what they're doing to you right now.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
They're putting it all around it you're watching.
Speaker 5 (25:34):
Yeah, and then the other ship happening in the background
is is the is the connection? It's like like Alice
in Underland in a lot of ways.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
Have you seen the newer Twilight Zone?
Speaker 2 (25:46):
Not that So.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
There's something that happens in every episode that is consistent.
And they pointed out at the end and it's just like,
oh crap, you know I missed that the entire time.
It was surely there.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
I have to check that out.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
Yeah, Oh my goodness, this is I mean overall right now,
I would say episodes one and two. Me personally, I'm
what's a good rating system? Do we want to do
like one? Ten?
Speaker 3 (26:19):
You can do like stars if you want.
Speaker 2 (26:21):
Yeah, And I'm giving it a five star rate personally
because I think the writing has been phenomenal. I think
we've gotten a healthy dose of horror and exposition because
you have to know, you have to understand the story
because other than that, and you're just watching for blood,
guts and gore, and if you don't get it, then
you'll be disappointed. So I again, true horror takes patience,
(26:45):
and I think they're hitting it right on the nose.
And as far as making it a connected universe, so
on board for that sidebar. If you, if you, if you,
if you remember in Stephen King's it in the remake
the house that that uh at Pennywise the clown appears
(27:06):
in and the neighborhood that same house they use in
the Dark Tower or the Gunslinger story, so you get connected.
Stephen King universe it is, yeah, man.
Speaker 5 (27:21):
And you're not making like a universe out of hodgepodge
characters like this is being it's in its inception rights.
It's being idealized, like.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
Like layered, like layered over each other.
Speaker 4 (27:35):
Layer is a great word.
Speaker 5 (27:36):
Yes, you have the same creator, right, so it's not
hard to do right right when you add in all
these other creators and we're gonna do this with this
guy and then somebody else comes in, it's like it
starts getting convoluted.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
It's the one creator, you know, mm hmm.
Speaker 4 (27:52):
You can tell there's passion behind it.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
Oh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
And if there wasn't, I think I think the response
to it would would would would would show that. But again,
they're they're doing a phenomenal job. And so I want
to ask you, guys, I wanna on a one to
five's gust star rating, like how do you scale this? Uh?
Speaker 1 (28:15):
I would give it the first episode like a three
and a half out of five, and I'd give the
second episode of four and a half like it's not
quite perfect, but it's it's hidden.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
Okay, Okay.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
I feel like I'm like right there with Lance, you know.
Speaker 6 (28:31):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (28:32):
I would like to say that I think, like, you know,
these things start slow and then they build the momentum,
and that's so that when it hits that high note,
it's worth it.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
And I feel like that's what this is gonna do.
Speaker 5 (28:47):
And I don't know if we'll really get like filler
episodes with what they have planned. There's a lot of
story to tell. Yeah, I think we're gonna leave us
hanging in such a good way. And I hate to
be left hanging, but it's such a good way, you know.
I keep feeling like this is the show to cap
off the year, you know what I mean, Like this
(29:07):
is there's a lot of good shows that came out
this year we've loved y'are still talking about, but this
is going to be the one that I think is
going to keep everybody guessing, keep us talking, and keep
the conversation open about what's next. And I feel like
a lot of people are gonna maybe catch on to
it late too. They're like they're maybe not giving it
a chance quite yet.
Speaker 4 (29:25):
The buzz will pick up the views.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
Oh yeah, without question, because if they're not watching it now, somebody,
if they're not watching now, somebody's got to come along,
Like dude, have you checked out. Welcome to day.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
That's exactly how this is going to go.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
I'm high from I am excited. I do think it's
appointment viewing.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
Now I wouldn't have said that last week, but yeah,
I think it's appointment viewing for me.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
