Speaker 1 (00:10):
Good morning everybody. This is Sean Copeland. Today is Sunday,
October nineteenth, and welcome to another brand new, life changing
edition of the ninety four x Kingdom Driven CEO. Thank
you fake applause people. Hey, it is so good to
be back with you guys today, and it's really really
(00:32):
good to be home. I had kind of a dream
week last week. I just have to tell you it
was amazing. I left Sunday evening, traveled to Destined, Florida,
and got to speak at the One Ascent Conference. There's
an amazing ria investment firm out of Birmingham, Alabama called
(00:57):
One Ascent. If you live in that area, I encourage
you to work with him. Very very faith based, and
they had an awesome conference and I was very honored
to be one of their keynote speakers. And then when
I was done, I traveled over to Lynchburg, Virginia to
be a speaker at the Liberty University CEO conference, which
(01:18):
has really been a dream of mine. Met tons of
wonderful people there and made tons of great connections, and
then made it back here by Thursday night for Finley's
football game, and then Angela went over to homecoming for
the girls at OSU and Finn and I went down
(01:41):
to Houston and spent Friday evening and Saturday yesterday at
a showcase that he was invited to for baseball. So
it went great. We got back early this morning into Tulsa,
and so here I am with you. It was just
(02:01):
a very very, very fun week. I want to share
with you today a very cool teaching around how God
works in our lives. Okay, a lot of times, and
I'm sure you can appreciate this, but a lot of
times I look back on my life and think, wow,
(02:24):
as everything turned out as it turned out. Maybe you
met your spouse because you just happened to sit next
to them at church, or maybe you found your calling
because you just happened to take that job you didn't
even want. And we'll say things like what are the odds?
But with God, there are no odds, only orchestration. What
(02:45):
we call coincidence, God calls providence. And today we're going
to look at one of the greatest as it turned
out moments in all of Scripture. It's the story of
Ruth and how God's unseen hand is always at work
even in our pain, are wandering and are waiting, So
(03:05):
let's go back to We're gonna go to Ruth chapter one,
and the story begins in Bethlehem, which actually means the
house of Bread, but at this time there was a famine.
So Naomi and her husband make what seems to be
a really smart move. They leave Judah and they head
to Moab, where they thought things would be better, But
(03:28):
it turns out to be a tragic decision. In Moab Alimelech,
Naomi's husband dies, her two sons, Mary, moabite women Ruth
and Orba, and then they die as well, so Naomi
is left with three graves, two widows, and zero hope.
(03:49):
She even says in Ruth chapter one, verse twenty, don't
call me Naomi, which means pleasant, call me Mara, which
means better, because the Almighty has made my life very bitter.
Now have you ever been there when you feel like
your story has gone off the rails, and when you
think that God must have forgotten about you. But even
(04:12):
in Moab, God was moving. So let's look at Ruth
one sixteen and one seventeen. Naomi tells her daughters in
law to go back home, or believes, but Ruth stays
and says the words that have echoed for thousands of
years in almost every wedding ceremony. And that is where
(04:33):
you go, I will go, and where you stay, I
will stay. Your people will be my people, and your
God my God. Now this is the moment that Ruth
steps into the story of redemption. She doesn't realize it yet,
but her loyalty becomes the bridge that God will walk
across to change history. Sometimes the people God places in
(04:54):
your life are part of his divine setup. You think
it's friendship, but he knows it is destiny. Ruth and
Naomi then returned back to Bethlehem. This in Ruth Chapter two.
Naomi is bitter and broken. She says, the Lord has
brought me back empty. But Ruth decides to do something practical.
(05:14):
Let me go to the fields and pick up the
leftover grain. Now this was allowed under Leviticus nineteen, which
commanded farmers not to harvest to the very edges, leaving
the rest for the poor and for the foreigner. And
here comes the phrase that changes everything. As it turned out,
she Ruth found herself working in a field belonging to Boaz.
(05:40):
As it turned out, now, that's not coincidence. That's providence.
Ruth didn't know which field she was walking into. It
could have been one of hundreds of fields available to her.
But God knew. And how many, as it turned out,
moments have you had or you were at the right
place at the right time. You made the call, sent
(06:01):
the email, met the person, and it changed everything. That's
not luck. That is the hand of God. Just then,
Boaz arrived from Bethlehem. Just then, I'll be darned. Bo
As the man of standing, wealthy, respected, godly, just happens
to show up just then. Timing is everything with God.
(06:25):
He's never early, he's never late, He's always right on time.
Boaz notices Ruth, He asks about her, He protects her,
he provides for her, and in an instant, Ruth goes
from scavenger to staff, from outsider to insider. Boaz tells
his men, don't touch her, leave our extra grain, let
(06:48):
her drink from the water jars. He even invites her
to lunch. God can flip your status in a single moment.
Ruth comes home carrying an enormous mount of grain, more
than she could have ever dreamed. Naomi, who had been better,
suddenly begins to feel hope stirring again, She says, the
(07:08):
Lord does not stop showing his kindness to the living
and the dead. Now, the word kindness here is much
stronger than our word for kindness. It was the Hebrew
word hessd, one of the richest words in the Hebrew language,
and it means faithful love, mercy, loyalty, and unfailing goodness.
(07:31):
Naomi realizes God never stopped being good. I just stop
seeing it. And maybe you've been through a tough loss
or disappointment, or seasons where you couldn't see his hand,
but he never stopped being good. Sometimes the field looks
empty before the harvest arrives. Boaz turns out to be
(07:52):
what's called a kinsman redeemer, a relative who can buy
back the land, restore the name, and redeem the family's fewture. Sure,
that's what Jesus does for us. We were spiritually bankrupt,
widowed by sin, and he stepped in, paid the price
and gave us a new name and inheritance. Boaz didn't
just rescue Ruth from poverty. He restored her dignity, her destiny,
(08:17):
and her family line. And from their line came David
and eventually Jesus. This all comes from one woman who
said yes to following God's plan. As it turned out,
God was writing a redemption story that would bless the world.
So here's what we need to remember. God is always
(08:40):
working Romans eight twenty eight says, and we know that
in all things God works for the good of those
who love Him, who were according to his purpose. Even
when life feels random, God is in charge. Even when
you can't trace his hand, you can trust his heart.
Naomi thought her was over, Ruth thought she was just
(09:02):
picking up scraps. But as it turned out, God was
orchestrating a love story that would literally change history. Maybe
you've seen this in your own life, God connecting dot
you didn't even know existed, that job you lost that
led to your calling, that breakup that led to your breakthrough,
that diagnosis that drew you closer to Jesus. Maybe you've
(09:23):
seen it in people in your life that like Angela
and I, who just happened to meet in a very
unlikely place at a banquet because I saw her in
the back of the room and just thought she was
so gorgeous, and we ended up being married. And here
(09:43):
it has been twenty seven years later. God's hand can
turn tragedy into testimony and hardship into hope. Every believer
as it turned out story a moment when you realize
God was working behind the scenes the entire time. Naomi's
story began with bitterness and ended with blessing. Rue's story
(10:06):
began with poverty and ended with purpose, and Boas's story
began with generosity and ended with legacy. And all of
it happened under the quiet banner of divine providence, the
goodness of God that works through ordinary obedience. So today,
if you're in the middle of uncertainty, hold on, keep walking,
(10:27):
keep gleaning, keep trusting, because one day you'll look back
and say, as it turned out, God was good all along.
Thank you so much for being here with us today.

all of us. Please let me close this out in prayer,

He is always working. Dear having Father, Thank you for

ones we saw and the ones that we miss. Thank
you that you are always at work for our good.
