Speaker 1 (00:10):
Good morning everybody. This is Sean Copeland. Today is Sunday,
November the ninth, and welcome to another brand new, life
changing edition of the ninety four X Kingdom Driven CEO.
Thank you so much to the fake applause people, Bear
and I appreciate it. I've got my trustee sidekick, Bear Copeland,
(00:33):
our Golden Doodle here beside me, and we are excited
to bring you a really great teaching today. This has
been a super super fun week. We started the week
off with our first Community Advisory Board meeting here in
Tulsa amazing group of leaders, super super fun. On Wednesday,
(00:55):
I flew out to Florida. I got to meet with
our new team members out at DLP Bank in North
central Florida. That was awesome. Got to attend a legacy
conference put in by my put on by my new
business partner, Don Winner and his team at DLP Capital.
I got to speak there alongside of Tim Tebow, which
(01:18):
was super super fun. Made it back Friday and time
for the district championship football game and my son's team
won and he had a touchdown on a really good game.
And then yesterday we got to go to Oklahoma State
University for a pretty exclusive camp where some younger players
(01:40):
have been invited in to learn all about the OSU
baseball program. And it was really kind of a dream
come true. So this has been one of the best
weeks that I can remember in a long time. And
along the way during this week, I picked up a
teaching that I'm very very excited to share with you,
and I'm just going to expand and on a devotional
(02:02):
that was led by Jenny Manganero. Now, Jenny is the
daughter of one of my very good friends, Pastor rich
Manganero here in Broken Arrow, and she is amazing and
she taught on a book called as We Forgive Those
And as you might recall, this is a part of
(02:23):
the Lord's Prayer, which is in Matthew six twelve says
forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass
against us. And the theme here is about the importance
of forgiveness, but also how hard forgiveness is. It is
(02:45):
just such a difficult thing to do, but it is
such a game changer. And I can attest to this
because in going through some coaching slash counseling with Pastor Ridge,
he took me through a forgiveness exercise that was really
really a game changer for me. So, you know, every
(03:06):
Sunday and all throughout every sports game, we recite this
Lord's prayer. Okay, but the question is do we think
about the fact that true forgiveness really releases Heaven's healing.
It's not so much for the other person, it is
(03:27):
for us. What if God took those words very seriously
and what if He forgave us only to the degree
that we forgive others? Now, really think about this. We
all want forgiveness, but it's hard for us to forgive others.
In this book, as we forgive those Catherine Claire Larson
(03:49):
tells true stories from post genocide Rwanda, stories that show
what this prayer looks like when it becomes real. A
nation torn apart by hatred, neighbors who slaughtered neighbors, families destroyed,
and yet years later, victims and perpetrators are finding peace
through forgiveness that can only come through Christ. So today
(04:11):
we ask if God's grace can heal Rwanda? Can it
heal the wounds in our hearts? Romans three twenty three
says for all have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God. And this book opens with darkness, unimaginable pain,
women who saw their husbands and children murdered, men haunted
by what they'd done, in rage and fear, entire villages
(04:35):
living with invisible scars. We like to believe our grudges
are smaller, the coworker who betrayed us, the parent who left,
the friend who lied. But sin always breaks relationship with
God and with each other, whether it's genocide or gossip,
the result is separation. Unforgiveness is just sin. In disguise.
(04:57):
It feels righteous, but it poisons our soul. Picture a
small seed of bitterness. You water it with your thoughts,
fertilize it with your anger, and one day it's a
tree that you just cannot uproot. Jesus is calling us
to something radical, not revenge, not justice on our terms,
but reconciliation on his terms. Luke twenty three thirty four says, Father,
(05:22):
forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.
On the cross, Jesus looked down at the very people
killing him, and he prayed for them. That's not human,
that is divine. And in this book, as we forgive those,
we meet Rosaria, a young woman who saw her sister
murdered by a neighbor named Severe. Years later, Severi comes
(05:46):
to her trembling and confesses. He weeps and asks for
her forgiveness, and Rosaria says, something only the spirit of
God could make possible. Because I am forgiven by Christ.
I give you That moment didn't erase the pain, it
released it. Forgiveness isn't forgetting, it's entrusting the debt to God.
(06:10):
You stop being the judge and let God handle justice.
You trade the right to revenge for the gift of peace.
Ephesians four thirty two says be kind and compassionate to
one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God
forgave you. Grace always costs somebody something. When Jesus forgave us,
(06:30):
it cost him his blood. When we forgive others, it
costs us our pride. Forgiveness doesn't mean pretending nothing happened.
It means you refuse to let the wound define you anymore.
In Rwanda, there are communities where murders and victims now
build homes together. One man said, we're both free now,
(06:52):
he from his guilt and me from my hatred. You see,
forgiveness is not weakness. It is warfare. It breaks generational curses,
It stops pain from reproducing itself in another life. I
can't think of anything stronger than forgiving someone else. Colossians
three p. Thirteen says, forgive as the Lord forgave you.
(07:15):
Here is a simple roadmap from both scripture and larcen
stories for how we can learn to forgive. Remember, God
forgave us first. We can't give what we haven't received.
Number two name the pain. Honestly, God doesn't heal what
we hide. Forgiveness isn't denial, it's exposure before grace. Number
(07:39):
three release the person to God, say out loud, they
owe me nothing. God will handle justice. That's not weakness.
That is faith. Number four pray blessing instead of bitterness.
You can't stay angry at someone you're sincerely praying for.
And number five repeat as needed. Forgiveness is not a
one time event. It's a daily decision until peace becomes permanent.
(08:03):
John eight thirty six says, if the sun sets you free,
you will be free. Indeed, when we forgive, we experience resurrection,
power life from death. One Rwandan woman in the book said,
when I forgave, it felt like I could breathe again
for the first time in ten years. Imagine what your
life could feel like if you laid down that burden
(08:24):
you've carried for so long. Maybe you're not in Rwanda,
maybe you're setting in church smiling but carrying betrayal, rejection,
or family wounds. God's word for you today, Let it go,
Give it to me. I will take care of it.
Jesus didn't teach us to ask for forgiveness and isolation.
(08:44):
He tied it directly to how we treat others. Forgive
us as we forgive. That is not a coincidence. That
is a covenant. If we want revival in our hearts
and our homes and in our nation, it starts with forgiveness.
Because revival doesn't come through louder worship or better sermons.
It comes when God's people release what's killing their peace.
(09:09):
And I'm going to close and tell you guys a story.
There was an assistant coach for the Oklahoma City Thunder
whose wife was killed in a tragic, tragic automobile accident.
Literally imagine this. A semi truck crossed the line unexpectedly
hit her head on. She died. They were so in
(09:30):
love and at that eulogy, which was attended by online
and in person by literally millions, he prayed for forgiveness
for that person, and he prayed for that person the
killer's family. Now, guys, there is not much on this
earth that shows Jesus like forgiveness. It is the ultimate
(09:53):
because it is so counter cultural. So today I want
you to really search your heart and please think who
do I need to forgive? Is it a parent, is
it a friend? Is it ourselves? Is it a business partner?
Who do we need to forgive? And let's just pray
(10:14):
and turn pray to forgive them and turn it over
to God. Today. Please vow with me as we close, Lord,
teach us to pray these words with sincerity. Forgive us
our trespasses, and we forgive those who trespass against us.
(10:35):
Not just as, but we will do it right now. Father,
heal our hearts, restore our relationships, and set us free.
We love you and thank you for forgiving us in
Jesus' name. A men, guys, I want to as we close,
I want to thank you all so much. We had
