Speaker 1 (00:10):
Good morning everybody. Today is June the twenty second. It
is a Sunday, and welcome to another brand new, life
changing edition of the ninety four x Kingdom Driven CEO.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
I am so glad everybody is with us this morning.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
Last week was really a great week for a couple
of reasons.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
For me.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
One last Sunday, after I shared with you on the
Kingdom Driven Ceo, our baby boy got baptized. Finn Copeland
is fifteen years old and had accepted Jesus as a
savior but got baptized.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
That had a church pool function that we had, so
that was awesome.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
And then I turned fifty two years last week and
had a super fun time with our family. We've been
playing a lot of baseball this week, took Friday off
and so it was a really fun week. While all
this was occurring, of course, there is all kinds of
interesting things going on with our world. The Israel Iran
(01:22):
battle is ongoing, the US got involved yesterday. So all
of these things certainly show us that we don't know
when the end is here, but the end is drawing
closer and closer, which makes it even more important for
us to prioritize our spiritual life. So today what I
(01:42):
want to visit with you about is the idea of
being Jesus in disguise.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
At your work. How can you live in a way
where you do excellent.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Work exactly as God has called us to do it,
working under Him, not unto man, but really to be
kind of a missionary at work that is almost undercover.
So and I want to tell you kind of where
this idea comes from. Years ago, my buddy Mix Skubnek
(02:16):
and I had this calling and kind of this leading
that we wanted to launch what is now ninety four
x our Faith at Work Ministry.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
And we had heard about.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
This firm in Lubbock, Texas called Beaten Beau Homes who had.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
A ministry called Kingdom at Work.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
And so we traveled out to Lubbock and we went
to kind of see how this firm integrated their faith
into their work. And it was very, very cool, and
I'll never forget. They had this video where they featured
this dentist who is a local Kingdom at Work member
(02:58):
who was there in Lubbock, was talking about how he
kind of brought their faith into their work. However, the
thing about that video that I still remember to this
day was not really the dentist. It was one of
his dental hygienis. And I'll never forget this, lady said.
You know, before we began bringing our faith into our work,
(03:20):
I thought I was fixing and cleaning people's teeth. I
thought that was my job, was to make their teeth better.
And then once we changed our focus and began to
focus on Jesus, I began to realize MY real job
was to fix their soul. And I just happened to
do it. While I was fixing their teeth, I was
(03:44):
constantly looking for opportunities to minister to others. I would
get to know them more deeply, you know, ask how
I could pray with them. And it led to all
kinds of amazing spiritual encounters at her work, which made
her happier at work, and it just changed the entire
dynamic of their workplace. So I'm going to visit with
(04:05):
you today about the concept of being Jesus in disguise
and bringing Christ to work without wearing a big Jesus
name tag. So We're going to focus on a few
key scriptures here, Colossians three.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Twenty three and twenty four.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Whatever you do work at it with all your heart,
as working for the Lord, not for human masters. Matthew
five fourteen through sixteen. You're the light of the world.
Let your light shine before others, that they may see
your good deeds and glorify your father and second Corinthians
five point twenty. We are, therefore Christ's ambassadors. So he
is calling us to do this, and let's talk about how.
(04:45):
So let me ask you a question. If Jesus had
a nine to five job, what do you think he
would do. Do you think he would be a full
time preacher?
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Maybe?
Speaker 1 (04:58):
But what if he were an account int, a teacher,
a banker, a nurse, a manager, or even a barista
at Starbucks. The truth is, Jesus wasn't a full time preacher.
For most of his life. He was a carpenter. He
worked with his hands, he got splinters, he dealt with
difficult customers. But even in that, he was God in disguise.
(05:22):
And you and I we have got the same opportunity
to be Jesus in disguise wherever we were doing excellent work,
loving people deeply and looking for divine moments to bring.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
His hope to them. So I just want to leave
you with a few points.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Today as we think about how to actually live this out.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
And what I'm not talking about. I'm not talking about.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Being weird and going around and forcing the Bible, Bible
thumping and pointing out everybody's sins and trying to baptize
people in the bank lobby or anoint their heads with
oil while you're doing loan closing. I'm not talking about that.
I'm talking about living in a way where it's as
(06:05):
if you were on a spiritual scavenger hunt. Like when
you begin the day, your focus is, okay, where is
the Lord at work? Where can I minister to someone else?
Where can I comfort them? Where can I just be kind?
And those moments often lead to spiritual moments. So let's
(06:26):
talk first of all about working with excellence. How our
work is our witness. Colossians three twenty three, as we
said earlier, says whatever you do, work at it with
all your heart as working for the Lord. I tell
our team at the bank all the time, if they
don't work for me, I am not the audience that
they need to be focused on. They have an audience
(06:48):
of one, and that audience is Jesus Christ. Your job
isn't just a paycheck. It is your platform, whether you're
whether you're managing a team, cleaning a floor making business,
do your work. Ethic preaches a louder sermon than your
words ever could. Jesus didn't start his public ministry until
(07:08):
age thirty, but he was faithful in his work for
years before that.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
So was Daniel in Babylon. So was Joseph in Egypt.
And guess what.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
That's where they earned the trust of people and eventually
saved entire nations. They did rise to those levels, but
first they had to prove themselves with excellent work. There's
a story about a janitor at NASA in the nineteen sixties.
When asked what he did, he replied, I'm helping to
put a man on the moon. That is excellence. That
(07:41):
is kingdom vision. You're not just filing papers. You're doing
it for the Lord. And when people see how seriously
you take your work, they start asking what's different about
this person, and that becomes your open door. Now on
the flip side, when you are not excellent and when
you are, and when you don't work hard, whenever you
(08:03):
are cutting corners, whenever you are gossiping, whenever you have
a bad attitude. Nobody is going to be drawn to
Jesus through you. Point number two is we have to
love without a megaphone. We have to be Jesus without
shouting it. Matthew five point sixteen says, let your light
shine that they may see your good deeds and glorify
(08:25):
your father in heaven. Not everyone at work wants a sermon,
but everyone at work needs hope, and that's where we
come in.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Being Jesus in.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Disguise means encouraging the coworker who's going through a divorce,
showing patience when your boss is unfair, bringing donuts and
not expecting applause, Praying for someone privately even if they
don't know it, speaking life when gossip is flying around.
A businessman once said, I never preached at work, but
(08:55):
I was kind. I help people, and I listened. Years later,
a coworker came to me and said, you're the only
person I've ever met who made me believe Christians might
be real. That is Jesus in disguise. You might not
get a pulpit, but you've got a break room. You
might not lead worship, but you've got a cubicle. Let
your kindness do the preaching point number three. We want
(09:18):
to look for divine appointments. God is in the interruptions.
Tewo Corinthians five point twenty says we're therefore Christ's ambassadors,
as though God were making his appeal through us. Every
job has interruptions, an unexpected phone call, a frustrated co worker,
a last minute meeting. Don't resent the interruptions. Sometimes they're
(09:41):
the whole point. Jesus was interrupted constantly on his way
to heal a child. A woman touched his robe. On
his way to rest. He fed five thousand people with
just a few fishes and loaves of bread. On his
way to Jerusalem, he stopped for a blind beggar. Those
interruptions became the most powerful moments of his ministry. What
(10:02):
if your next divine moment is hiding in an annoying coworker.
What if God puts you at the job not just
to make money, but to be his messenger. Start your
day with this prayer, Lord, open my eyes today to
who you want me to love. Show me your divine appointments.
He'll answer that prayer, often in very unexpected ways. Finally,
(10:28):
you're on mission. Even in a conference room, we think
of missionaries as people who move to Africa or Asia.
But the truth is you're a missionary in disguise. Your
mission field is your zoom calls, your lunch table, the classroom,
the sales floor, the er. You don't need to have
a seminary degree. You just need to be available. You're
(10:49):
not just a teacher. You're bringing light into a dark world.
You're not just a CEO. You're shaping culture with your values.
You're not just a delivery driver. You're delivering peace and
away with every smile. Jesus is walking the halls of
your workplace. He just looks a whole lot like you.
(11:09):
Who are you really working for? Every email, every meeting,
every interaction is not just business. It's eternal business. So
go ahead and be excellent, be joyful, be kind and
ski and keep your spiritual eyes open. Because while the
world sees you as a teacher, a banker, a barista,
(11:32):
a manager, Heaven sees you as an undercover agent for Jesus.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
You are Jesus in disguise. So thank you.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
So much for joining today's edition of the ninety four
X Kingdom Driven CEO.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
I think it's so.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
So important that we prioritize our spiritual awareness. Today, more
than ever, people are living in fear. We can be
the one with confidence. We can be the ones that
maintain a good attitude. We can be the ones that
are different, and when they ask why, we can turn
(12:09):
them to Jesus. So please bow with me as we
close out this week. Lord, I thank you for the
calling us into the world to be lights in this darkness.
Help us to see our jobs not as distractions, but
as divine appointments. May we be excellent in our work,
kind in our words, and alert to every opportunity to
(12:29):
bring Jesus into the lives of those around us. Use
us this week in disguise for your glory.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
We love you so much.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
In Jesus's name, A man and I want to thank
you all so much for joining this edition of the
ninety four x Kingdom Driven CEO. God bless you, God
bless our world, and God bless the United States of America.
Thank you and have a wonderful week.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
E can't interact, even interact
