Speaker 1 (00:10):
Good morning, everybody. This is Sean Copeland. Today is Sunday morning,
April the sixth, and welcome to another brand new, life
changing edition of the ninety four x Kingdom Driven CEO.
Thank you, thank you well. This was a wild week,
(00:33):
not only weatherwise here in the state of Oklahoma, and
you had the final four games last night. But I
spent from Sunday until Wednesday in Florida, and from Wednesday
until Friday in Kansas City and then finally made it
back home Friday evening and am so, so so happy
(00:55):
to be back home. But I had a wonderful trip
and it really leads into today's teaching, and let me
kind of explain. So on early in the week when
I was in Florida, we were meeting with our new
merger partner out there, kind of working through some details
of the merger. Then they had a conference kind of
(01:18):
a leadership training conference where they brought in a lot
of their clients and it was excellent and I get
to speak with them about culture and how we integrate
our faith into our business and that was super fun.
And then on Wednesday, mostly traveled and had dinner with
my CEO study group, which is a group of seven
(01:42):
bank CEOs from all throughout the central part of the US.
And then we spent a Thursday and half of the
day Friday helping each other with our businesses. And so
what was cool. I'm going to tell you just a
quick story from Florida, and then I'll tell you kind
of the gist of what I've decided on rediscovering our
(02:04):
purpose for today's lesson. When I was in Florida, I
kind of shared about the bank and a gentleman came
up to me afterwards, and he was from Washington State
and he said, you probably don't know me, but he said,
your bank changed my life. He said, about a year
(02:24):
ago he had a one year old son who needed
a bone marrow transplant and they could not find a match.
And his nanny, now this is all the way into Washington,
was somehow familiar with our bank and our prayer team
and said we need to turn this into the Regent
(02:48):
Bank prayer team. And so they did. They emailed us
their prayer request. I remember the request. We all prayed
for it, and he said two days later they were
actually able to find the per match for their son.
So that was so so cool. And then on the
flip side. I had multiple conversations last week with individuals
(03:09):
who have become very, very successful financially, but are now
struggling with purpose kind of in this second half of
their life. It's kind of like they've they've made it.
They're not no longer worried about, you know, making ends meet,
but they're just struggling. They just don't feel like because
(03:30):
some of them have turned their businesses over to someone
else to run, you know, and maybe, you know, maybe
they just realized that making money and having titles and
all that stuff wasn't quite what they thought it was
going to be. So I did some study yesterday on
rediscovering our purpose, and I want to present you with
(03:53):
seven of keys to to rediscover our purpose or to
find significant after success. I think you're really going to
like this. I was very pleased with what the Lord
led me to, So let's just start with number one.
Number one is we have to redefine success and begin
(04:16):
to define success from achievement to alignment. Success by the
world standards, status, wealth, influence, et cetera. Often fades in satisfaction,
which is what I've been finding this week. True fulfillment, however,
comes when our lives are aligned with God's purpose and
(04:39):
our scripture basis. If you look at Mark eight thirty six,
it says, what good is it for someone to gain
the whole world yet forfeit their soul? And that is
kind of what we're talking about here. It's great to
go out and God wants us to be successful. I mean,
he wants us to work unto him, not to man.
(05:00):
And if that leads to financial success, particularly when we
are able to share it, you know, and give it away,
that's all amazing. But what happens is a lot of
times it feels like we've climbed the ladder and the
ladder is leaning against the wrong wall. So now we
kind of need to step back and go, Okay, you know,
(05:21):
is my definition of success aligned with God's heart? And
what does obedience look like? In this season? A scripture
that continues coming back into my life is that obedience
is better than sacrifice. Yesterday, Angela and I Binge watched
The House of David on Prime Video and oh, my gosh,
it is so good. Some of my friends were involved
(05:43):
with filming it and funding it, and oh it is
just amazing. And in that movie, he discusses Samuel tel Saul.
Obedience is greater than sacrifice. So are we following God's
will for our life and God's purpose for our life.
Number two, we have to invest in relationships. They are
(06:07):
the foundation of a joyful life. Loneliness and surface level
relationships can really drain the soul. Investing in godly intentional relationships, friendships, family,
and community restores joy. And I would just tell you know,
one of the things that has happened to me unfortunately
is I have many, many, many friends, but I don't
(06:30):
have very many deep relationships. And so I am going
to go back and focus on really cultivating a few,
very very deep relationships. Ecclesiastes four nine in ten says
two are better than one. If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up. One. Peter one twenty
(06:51):
two says love one another deeply from the heart. This
definitely includes our marriage. I am making a very firm
commitment to spend more quality time with Angela and strengthen
our marriage back up. But it also is wonderful to
do a mentoring so you know, for those of us
(07:11):
that are later in our career, you know, it would
be really fun to find eight or ten young leaders
who need a mentor and began to invest in them
as well. So think about who truly knows us, where
we're being real supported and sharpening others. We need to
invest in deep relationships. Number three, return to or deepen
(07:36):
our faith. When success is quieted and the applause kind
of fades, the heart often turns toward what truly matters.
This is the time to pursue intimacy with God, not
just belief in him. Matthew six point thirty three says,
but seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well.
(07:58):
So forty two Verse one says, is the deer pants
for streams of water, So my soul pants for you,
my God. Are we living a life of true intimacy
and presence with God or just proximity? Are we building
something with Him or for ourselves? It may be time
for us to circle back and invest in our relationship
(08:22):
with God. And for me, that is going to mean
thirty minutes every morning period. I don't care what I
have to do in the morning, if I have to
skip my workout, I am going to get thirty minutes
of intimate time with Jesus Christ. Number four, We want
to live for eternal contribution and not just earthly accumulation.
(08:43):
At some point the question has to shift from what
can I gain to what can I give? Pouring into
others brings new energy, meaning, and eternal reward. Matthew six
twenty one says, store up for your self treasures in heaven,
for where your treasure is there, your heart will be.
Also Verse Peter four ten says each of you should
use whatever gift you have to serve others. So what knowledge, wisdom,
(09:08):
or wealth can you begin stewarding for the good of
others and the glory of God. Now this can include
obviously financial giving, but it also includes our spiritual gifts.
So if you have not had a spiritual gift assessment,
it would be a great idea to see how are
you designed? God made us all differently. We all make
(09:30):
up the Body of Christ together, and we're all We
did this through our discipleship group recently, and we're all
made totally differently. So let's figure out how we can
give back and live for eternal contribution things that will
last forever and ever. Number five. We need to create
margin to listen and live fully we can be productive
(09:53):
and still feel empty. Creating space allows room for reflection, healing, joy,
and de fine direction. So forty six ten says, be
still and know that I am God. Isaiah thirty fifteen says,
in repentance and rest is your salvation, and quietness and
trust is your strength. In this docuseries about David's life,
(10:18):
The House of David, one of the things that they
showed over and over was David just talking with God.
He's a shepherd, he's all alone, He's he's been neglected,
he's been kind of left alone with the sheep. But
he would just have these very honest, intimate conversations with God.
So think about you know, where is your life too loud?
(10:40):
And when was the last time you heard from God
in the silence? It may be time for us to
step back and create more space in our lives. Number
six And by the way, along those lines, obviously the
mornings are important. I also am working to spend Friday
ease up at our lake house where I spend the
(11:02):
whole day. I do some work, I do catch up, think, read,
but I also do a lot of prayer during those
days as well, and I've been missing those times number six.
Listen to your soul. It is the inner compass for change.
So if you are feeling a little bit empty, or
(11:23):
you know, maybe that you've kind of lost your purpose,
maybe this is a holy invitation. It's your soul knocking
asking to be heard. God often speaks through unrest, calling
us onto deeper transformation. Psalm forty two, verse five says,
why are you cast down, O, my soul? And why
are you in turmoil with me? Hope in God. Proverbs
(11:47):
twenty verse five says the purposes of a person's heart
are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them
out what your soul saying that your schedule or success
has silently what would it look like if you fully listened?
So I think this time for many people. You know,
(12:08):
there's a lot of unrest in our country. There's a
lot of change going on in our country. Stock markets
way down, a lot of the things that we've all
been leaning on is are beginning to change. Jobs that
look like they were certain are no longer certain. So
maybe time this may all be an invitation for us
(12:29):
to come back and center ourselves and listen to God. Finally,
let's stay curious, Let's keep growing. Let's keep exploring, Let's
keep becoming. We are not done. There is more to
discover about God, about others, about ourselves. Joy is often
(12:51):
found in exploration, creativity, and in new beginnings. Isaiah forty three,
eighteen and nineteen says, forget the former things, do not
go on on the past. See I am doing a
new thing. Proverbs four eighteen says the path of the
righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till
the full light of day. What is something new that
(13:12):
God might be inviting you into? What risks feel sacred?
Right now? It may be time for us to have
an entirely new chapter of growth, but different than what
we have ever had before. So you haven't missed your calling.
You're being invited into your true one. You were made
(13:36):
not to just succeed, but to finish well. The next
season can be our most fulfilling yet, not because of
what we do, but because of who we become and
because of who we follow. Remember Philippians one six said,
who began a good work in you will carry it
on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. So
(13:57):
please bow with me this morning to having me Father,
Thank you for all of the listeners that you bring
here to this podcast from all over the country, and
I pray that this would be very very helpful, building
to them, centering to all of us, that it would
(14:17):
give us the message that we need to know that
we are not done, that we are not done. We
are just entering into a new season of life. You know,
in certain cultures, life is divided into four quadrants. And
the second quadrant of twenty five years is about building
and growing and creating wealth. But the third quadrant is
(14:40):
about actualization, and it's about relationships, and it's about mentoring,
and it's about giving into the lives of others. And
so Father, help us to re evaluate and circle back
to you to determine our purpose at this point in
our lives. We love you so much in Jesus' name, Amen,
(15:02):
and I want to thank you all very very much
for joining this very important edition of the ninety four
