Speaker 1 (00:10):
Good morning everybody. This is Sean Copeland. Welcome to another
brand new, life changing edition of the ninety four x
Kingdom Driven CEO. It is so great to be back

(00:30):
with you all today. It is Sunday, July the thirteenth.
I cannot believe the year is already halfway over. In Oklahoma.
If you live in here or in the central part
of the US, we are continuing to be deluged by
tons and tons of rain. Finley and I literally made

(00:51):
two our in ten minute drives yesterday to ballparks thinking
we were going to play baseball, and both of them
once we got there, had torrential rain rainfall, and we
got rained out. So we're hoping for a little dry
weather at some point here in the summer. It was
a really great week for us, and I'm super excited

(01:12):
to be with you. One of the things that I
attended this week, one of the events was at the
National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. And at
that event, the event was for professional bull riders and
it was the equivalent of kind of their Emmys, if

(01:32):
you will. Basically, they were giving out awards to the
top bull riders in the world, and you know, some
had passed away. Some were kind of Hall of Fame
type awards. Some was for the Rider of the Year
and that type of thing. But there was an amazing

(01:53):
speech given that evening by a lady by the name
of Priscilla Palermo, and Priscilla was named the Wife of
the Year like that, I believe it was the Sharon
Shoulders Cowboy Wife of the Year. And Sharon Shoulders was
the wife of Jim Shoulders, who was probably the most

(02:15):
famous cowboy ever lived in Henrietta, Oklahoma, and his wife's
name was Sharon. She was just an amazing woman and
they named this award after her because it is so
hard to be the wife of a bull rider. They
just go through so many ups and downs. And Priscilla,

(02:36):
I want to tell you just a little bit about
their story. So Priscilla and her husband Robson, were born
in Brazil. She was a champion barrel racer. She got
a master's degree from Texas A and M. And was
very very talented. Well, she married Robson. He was a
very talented bull rider, and so they ended up moving too.

(03:00):
They felt the Lord calling them to move to the
US for him to compete here and so he was
very successful, but along the way he was badly injured.
She dealt with very deep depression, and she battled breast cancer.
And during her acceptance speech she was talking about he

(03:24):
was a world champion as well, so they've experienced all
of this. She said, they had a seven year period
where everything went right, they had about a seven year
period where everything went wrong, and they've had to learn
to deal with both sides of the coin. But she
said something that really stuck with me and I wanted
to share with you all this week, and that is

(03:46):
she said she stopped questioning God and started trusting him
and that was the turning point in her life. Okay,
pretty amazing. Now we'll come back to that, but let's
go back and think about their circumstances. So Priscilla and
Robson they moved to the US in two thousand and five.

(04:07):
They had no English fluency, they had no clear path
that they were full of faith. Priscilla had to end
up filling many roles. Okay, encourage her nurse translator. She
was the first one to learn English, cheerleader, student coach.

(04:28):
She had to be the rock whenever things were going
bad and when God calls us into the unfamiliar. What
can often happen is our doubt can creep in. But instead,
like Priscilla, we can choose to obey. Proverbs three five
and six says trust in the Lord with all your

(04:49):
heart and all your ways. Submit to him, and He
will make your pass straight. Much you, like Abraham, stepped
out when God called, Priscilla also left her homeland and
studies behind, trusting the road God would build beneath her.
Priscilla didn't rush for headlines or public acclaim. She studied,

(05:10):
She supported, She coached quietly but profoundly. Her influence shaped
not only her husband's success, but all of the writers
around them. Right now, he is the assistant coach for
the Carolina Cowboys, and so all of these writers that
they are impacting. They are encouraged and impacted heavily by her.

(05:33):
God often calls us not as leaders in name, but
as encouragers and purpose. He equips the humble to make
a lasting impact. Receiving Cowboy Wife of the Year wasn't
just a human applause, it was God's fingerprint on her life.
He honors a life lived in trust, partnership, and service.

(05:57):
This award honors wives whose face and service underpin their
husband's success. Priscilla now joins a lineage of women whose
spiritual groundwork shaped Western sports. And when you choose faith
and fidelity over questioning, God's affirmation arrives even through earthly commendations. Now,

(06:21):
let's address the doubts that can often haunt us. Okay,
why now? Why is this happening now? Because God's timing
is perfect? Why me, I'm not good enough for this
task that God has called me to? Because God fits
the unlikely for the task. What if I fail? Because

(06:43):
God refines us through every step, even in failure. Romans
eight twenty eight says, in all things God works for
the good of those who love him. So if you
look at Priscilla's journey from Brazil to the barn, from
studying to coaching, reveals God's mission in real time. The

(07:03):
award is a signpost he is good and goes before us.
Now here are some practical steps to live that trust out. Okay,
Number one, we have to pray boldly about uncertainties. Number two,
we have to obey faithfully small next steps. Number three,

(07:24):
we have to serve humbly, even in a hidden role
like Priscilla Number four. We have to rejoice in recognition,
whether big or small, it's God's nod to our faith.
So I want us to identify one thing that we
are resisting, something that we are questioning, where we don't

(07:45):
have enough trust in God, whether it's our health, our finances,
or our purpose, and act and trust over doubt for
the next thirty days. Priscilla's life is a testimony stop questioning,
start trusting. When things were going wrong in her life,

(08:07):
she said, all she could do was question God, why
are you doing this to me? Why did you make
this happen to me? And her path reminds us that
God values our obedience and rewards hidden faithfulness with visible blessing.
She said, one day she was watching some of the

(08:27):
other wives, some of the other cowboy wives around her,
and she saw how they dealt with challenges that you know.
The biggest challenge as an aside that Priscilla had to
face was when her husband got injured. So he was
at the top of his game and all of a

(08:48):
sudden he began to have significant shoulder pain. So he
goes in to get a operation, and the operation goes
very very badly, and he never really gets back to
his original form, okay. And so for years they struggle
and that led to tremendous challenges and depression and fighting

(09:13):
and all the things that can come along with scarcity
and struggle like they were experiencing. And then he got
a role with the with the Carolina Cowboys, and so
things began to look better for them. But at that point,
she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She lost all of
her hair, beg you know, had to go through chemo,

(09:35):
had to go through radiation, had to go through all that.
But she kept her chin up and right in the
middle of all that is when she realized, why would
I question God? And all of us can question him
by the way I've done it, even in the last week,
because of the terrible losses that took place in Central

(09:57):
Texas and because of the floods there, I've question him.
But then all of a sudden, when I was listening
to Priscilla speak, I thought, how in the world could
we question the one that created us and the one
that has saved us from eternal damnation. I mean, think

(10:18):
about it for just a moment, you guys, what we
deserve because we have all sinned and fallen short of
God's glory. We deserve eternity and hell, that's what we deserve,
but that is not what we are going to receive
if we have accepted Jesus Christ as our savior. Because
God gave his son, his only son, to die a

(10:43):
brutal death for you and me, how could we question
someone like that? When Job was going through all of
his challenges, which are going to pale anything you and
I will ever experience, he lost everything and he even
remote questioned God. It made God very angry. God said,

(11:04):
you know, basically, who are you to question me? I
have provided you with everything that you have? How could
you question me? And that is the same message that
I took away from Priscilla today. She said. In the
middle of all this, she heard one of the Cowboy wives,
Leanne Hart, was leading a devotional much like this one,

(11:27):
and she talked about the importance of never questioning God,
always trusting in him, and always loving him. So she said,
when she made that switch, everything in her life began
to change. So here's what I want us to remember
today as we close. Number one. If you looked at

(11:51):
Priscilla and Robson, what you would see is a beautiful couple,
a lot of awards, and a perfect life. Okay, we
do not know what people are dealing with. They have
not had a perfect life. They have had probably more
struggle than they have had success. So number one, let's

(12:11):
remember we don't know what people are going through. Number two,
of course, let's stop questioning and start trusting God. And
number three, let's remember that much like these cowboy wives
had an impact on Priscilla, we never know the impact
that we are having on others. Okay, when you were

(12:31):
just being faithful, when you are being kind, even if
you were not in some big, high level you know,
a high profile position, you too can impact lives greater
than you can ever imagine. So please close today with
me in prayer. Dear heavenly Father, help us to sow

(12:53):
our lives and trust. When doubt whispers, let us answer
with faith. Our actions reflect Priscilla's legacy of quietly serving
and boldly trusting in you, Father. It's not about the limelight.
I've had the limelight. It's not that's overrated. When we

(13:13):
can quietly encourage others, when we can quietly serve, when
we can, as Priscilla did, she basically put her dreams
and her goals on hold for her husband. When we
can do that, that is when we can make the
greatest impact in this world. So Father, help us to

(13:34):
do that, Help us to live for you, Help us
to never question and always trust. We love you so
much in Jesus' name, A man and I want to
thank you for joining this important edition of the ninety
four X Kingdom Driven CEO

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
