Speaker 1 (00:11):
Good morning everybody. This is Sean Copeland. Today is Sunday,
August the seventeenth, and welcome to another brand new, life
changing edition of the ninety four x Kingdom Driven CEO.
Thank you, thank you all. So what a fun week.
(00:33):
So on Tuesday I got to be in Oklahoma City
speaking to a really really cool group of Christian business
leaders at kim Rae. It was all part of Cedargate,
which is a really really neat organization over there that
Brian and Marlt Hill run. And then on Wednesday and
(00:55):
Thursday I was in Frisco in Dallas, and Friday morning
meeting with mega churches, meeting with Christian schools, meeting with charities,
all about Regent Bank and kind of what we do
for nonprofits and churches. So that was super super fun.
(01:20):
And then on Saturday, well, Friday evening, had a real
fun at dinner with some good friends, and then Saturday
morning went over to Oklahoma State and watched my baby girl,
Kennedy join the same sorority as my daughter Emery. And
it was a precious, precious day. So got up this morning,
(01:43):
had taekwondo almost died. Now I'm here with you, and
I'm so happy to be here with you, a because
I did live through taekwondo, but also because I've got
a really great lesson for you today. And this just
came out of a conversation that I had had this
week with a friend of mine and he was talking
(02:03):
about evangelism and how we are all so scared of
evangelism but that it's not as hard as we think
it is. And he just made this comment. He said,
you know, the first evangelist was the woman at the well,
And I was like, what that made no sense to
(02:23):
me at all. But I let me kind of take
you through this teaching and I think, a you will
be amazed at her impact.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
And I think also.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
It will help us all to realize we can do this.
This is not rocket science. I believe there is an
urgency in evangelism right now as you look around. If
you don't know the people around you, your friends, family members,
co workers are believers or at least have had a
chance to make the decision to follow Jesus Christ and
(02:58):
ask him to be their savior. I think we got
to do it now, guys, because I don't think any
of us would dispute the fact that we are getting
closer and closer to the end days, and we just
do not want to have any regrets.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
So you know, some of us think we have to go.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
To seminary no Greek and Hebrew and have a preacher's
voice that sounds like James Earl Jones to be an evangelist.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
By the way, this is really funny.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
I met a new friend named Rich at the Oklahoma
City event and he said, you know, I listened to
the Daily Devotional, I listen to your podcast. You know,
thank you for everything that you do. But he said,
I just got to tell you your voice puts me
to sleep. So I'm trying to ramp it up here today.
I'm going to try to talk faster and deeper throughout
(03:48):
this edition.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
But we don't have to have any of that stuff.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
The first evangelist in the New Testament wasn't a preacher,
a missionary, or even a Sunday school teacher.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
She was a woman who just.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
Went to get water in the middle of the day
and had a bit of a complicated dating history. Jesus
has this way of turning the least likely person into
the perfect messenger. And I know you know the story John.
It's in John four four through thirty.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
But I want you to.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Think about the fact that Jesus goes out of his
way for one person. Now we have to remember Jesus
knows all okay, he knows what's going to happen. And
in verse four it says, now he had to go
through Samaria. Culturally, Jews avoided Samaria, but Jesus had to
(04:43):
go not because of geography, but because of destiny. That
means that our detours, our random encounters, might be divine appointments, just.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Like his was with the lady at the well.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
And have you ever run into somebody at Walmart and
you think, oh, oh, my goodness, I don't have time
for this, but it turns into a life changing conversation.
That is what we have to remember. Our detours could
actually be destiny. This has happened to me many, many times.
Many times in my life I have thought something was
(05:19):
an interruption and it turned into be life changing. So
I want you to think about the fact that the
woman at the well, her messy past did not disqualify
her from being a great evangelist. In verse eighteen, Jesus says,
you have had five husbands, and the man you now
have is not your husband. Most people would think that's
(05:42):
the last person that God would use. But Jesus didn't
shame her. He just revealed the truth in love. Now,
imagine the disciples faces when they came back from buying
lunch and said, Jesus talking to her.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Jesus, do you know her reputation?
Speaker 1 (05:59):
And Jesus said, yep, and she's about to be my spokesperson.
Your past does not disqualify you. It prepares you. People
listen to someone who has been where they are. Let
me tell you what I have learned. This was a
big deal with me early on, as we started the
(06:19):
daily devotional, the prayer team, faith in Business, the ninety
four X ministry, the podcast, all of these things. Satan
came at me head first and just said, hey, you're
not worthy of this. You have no business telling other
people what to do. And I thankfully the Holy Spirit
(06:40):
helped me power through and we've changed hundreds of thousands
of lives. But you cannot allow Satan to convince you
that your past disqualifies you to be powerful in your future.
Her encounter turned into her evangelism, and verse twenty eight
and twenty nine, it says, leaving her water jar. The
(07:02):
woman went back to the town and said to the people,
come see a man who told me everything I ever did?
Could this be the Messiah? She didn't wait to get
all of her theology in order, she just shared her
personal story. Evangelism isn't a sales pitch. Okay, you're not
trying to give your doctoral thesis at seminary. It's simply
(07:26):
an invitation to come and see. Think about how we
share restaurant recommendations, you have to try this place.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
We do that with.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
Tacos, but not only always with Jesus. The Samaritan moment
evangelized like someone who just found the best restaurant in town.
So how can we use her story to become effective
evangelists right where we are? So first of all, I
think you've got to start with your story. People can
(07:56):
argue with your theology, but they cannot argue with your testimony.
I would share a sixty second before Jesus after Jesus snapshot.
Now that might require a little bit of practice, a
little bit of thought, but that's what's going to change people.
It's not it's not going to be now. Ultimately we're
(08:16):
going to take them down the Romans road. Okay, but
it's not a book that is going to convince them.
It's your story.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Now.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Once you tell them your story and they want what
you have, then that's when the theology begins. You can
bring in someone who you feel might be more competent biblically,
but my experience is it's pretty darn easy at that point.
Once you tell them your story and what Jesus has
done to change your life and they want it, it's
(08:48):
pretty easy to get down the path of leading them
to Jesus Christ. So always start with your story. Number two,
see interruptions as opportunities. We talk about this, but the
woman thought she was just getting water. You might think
you're just getting coffee, sitting at your kids baseball game,
or scrolling social media. You never know when an interruption
(09:11):
will become an opportunity. Number three, Invite and don't interrogate. Okay,
she didn't say, Hey, everybody, you're all sinners just like me.
Come and see. She just said, you're not going to
believe what just happened to me. You've got to come
check this guy out. And that is what we are
what God is asking us to do as well. And
(09:33):
then remember that evangelism is teamwork. Verse thirty seven and
thirty eight says one sows and another reps. You don't
have to close the deal. You may be the one
that is supposed to plant the seed. The ripple effect
of one conversation is crazy. Verse thirty nine says many
of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because
(09:54):
of the woman's testimony. One woman's story reached an entire town,
and not only a woman, an outcast, her story reached
the entire town. You have no idea how far one conversation,
one prayer, or one invite could go. In conclusion, let's
(10:18):
remember that Jesus sees us. Okay, he knows where we are.
We are where we are supposed to be for a reason.
Number two, our past does not disqualify us. Number three,
Evangelism is simply sharing our story and inviting people to
meet Jesus. If a woman with five ex husbands and
(10:39):
a water jar can bring a whole town to Jesus,
we can probably invite our cowork at a lunch and
very naturally tell them what Jesus has done for us.
So let's take this on. It is important, you guys.
It is more important than making the next sale. It
(11:00):
is more important than making the monthly numbers. Let's just
and I'm not saying not to do those things. You
can do both. In fact, when people realize you care
about them, it is remarkable the way that they will
want to do business with you, want to refer clients
to you because they know you care about their heart.
(11:22):
So when closing, Tewod Corinthians five twenty says, we are
therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal
through us. We are Christ's ambassadors.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
Please bout with me. Lord.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
Thank you that you use ordinary, imperfect people to share
your extraordinary love. Give us courage to share our stories,
eyes to see divine appointments, and hearts to invite people
to come and see Father. Every day in our lives
we come across people who need hope. Let us just
(12:01):
share with them that you are our hope and why
and how you are real and how you are alive.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
We love you so much in Jesus' name.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Amen, and I want to thank you all so much
for joining this edition of the ninety four X Kingdom
Driven CEO
