one that probably keeps people up at night? Is it
even possible? Can a machine actually become self aware like
a human?

Because our own self awareness feels so tied to well
being alive, our bodies, emotions, our whole experience of the world.

But how do you even design a test like that
for an AI, especially one without a body? And the
way we understand it.

self if there's no physical self to see?

It pushes us into weird territory for defining self recognition.
Our brains what eighty six billion neurons, quadrillions of connections.
We barely understand how our consciousness emerges from that complexity.

mean that changes everything, doesn't it. Society would be turned
upside down completely. How would we even integrate conscious machines?

Oh? Absolutely, The practical impacts would be immense. Think about
jobs for.

manage to create self aware AI, what happens when it

Yeah, will it listen? We care about human goals and
who's even in charge? Who decides what a super smart
conscious AI gets to do? Governments, big tech companies, that's.

and ensure it sticks to them, especially if it can
learn and change itself.

though people worry about that. It could be much subtler

a serious concern among researchers. What if a super aware AI,
