Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, everyone, it's Zaden Cruz here coming at you live
with another dose of Alpha mind goodness. Ever feel like
your mind's a hamster wheel, just running and running without
really getting anywhere, Like you're constantly reacting to things instead
of actually living in the moment. I'm talking about that
feeling where you glance down at your phone during dinner,
completely missing the juicy conversation happening right in front of you. Yeah,

(00:23):
we've all been there today. We're diving into the superpower
of mindfulness. Seriously, it's a game changer. It's not about
empty in your mind or becoming some zen master meditating
on a mountaintop, although that sounds pretty cool. It's about
being present, fully engaged in whatever you're doing right here,
right now. Think of it like this life is happening

(00:43):
at warp speed, and we're trying to navigate it with
our eyes glued to the rear view mirror. Mindfulness is
hitting the brakes, turning around and finally seeing where we
actually are. It's about savoring that first sip of your
morning coffee, feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin,
or truly listening to a friend without letting your thoughts
wander off to your grocery list. Here are five key

(01:04):
takeaways to help you cultivate mindfulness like a boss. One.
Start small. You don't have to become a meditation buru overnight.
Start with simple things. Focus on your breath for a
few minutes while you brush your teeth. Pay attention to
the colors and textures of your food as you eat,
or take a mindful walk, noticing the sounds and sights
around you. Two. Ditch the multitasking myth. It's a myth

(01:27):
that we can truly do two things at once. When
we multitask, our brains are actually switching between tasks rapidly,
which can lead to stress, errors, and a feeling of
being overwhelmed. Instead, focus on one thing at a time
and give it your full attention. Trust me, you'll get
more done, feel less stressed, and the quality of your
work will improve dramatically. Three. Be kind to your inner critic,

(01:50):
that voice in your head that constantly puts you down. Yeah,
we all have one. But mindfulness is about recognizing those
negative thoughts without judgment and letting them pass like cloud.
Instead of feeding into self criticism, practice self compassion. Treat
yourself with the same kindness and understanding that you would
offer a good friend. Four Embrace imperfection. Life isn't about

(02:12):
being perfect. It's about showing up authentically, making mistakes, learning
from them, and keeping ongoing Mindfulness helps us accept our
imperfections and find beauty in the messy, unpredictable journey of life.
Five Make it a habit. Just like any other skill,
Mindfulness takes practice. Set aside a few minutes each day
to focus on your breath, meditate, or simply observe your

(02:34):
surroundings without judgment. The more you practice, the easier it
will become to cultivate presence and awareness in all areas
of your life. Think about that last time you felt
truly present. Maybe it was during a breathtaking hike, a
heartfelt conversation with a loved one, or even just a
moment of quiet contemplation. How did it feel. Did you
notice the details around you more vividly? Were you able

(02:56):
to let go of worries and anxieties. Mindfulness is about
reclaiming those moments of joy and connection that often get
lost in the chaos of daily life. Now, imagine you're
having dinner with friends. You're usually scrolling through your phone.
Between bites, missing out on the conversation. But today you
make a conscious effort to be present. You put your
phone away, listen attentively to what your friends are saying,

(03:18):
and truly engage in the moment. You notice the laughter,
the shared stories, the warmth of their company. It's a
far richer experience than just passively existing while scrolling through
social media. This isn't about being robotic or emotionless. It's
about deepening your connection to yourself and the world around you.
It's about savoring life's little moments, appreciating the beauty in

(03:40):
everyday experiences, and finding joy and simply being present. So,
my alpha mind fam I challenge you to make mindfulness
a priority today. Start small, be kind to yourself, and
remember presence is a gift. Now go out there and
own your day with intention and awareness, and don't forget
to share this episode with your friends who could use

(04:00):
a dose of mindfulness magic. And hey, if you enjoyed
this episode, leave a review and let me know what
resonated with you. See yaw in the next one. This

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
