By Danny Braiden. Danny is the dark haired boy in
a small furnished department on Chicago's South Side. Danny is
what is known in the trade as a solitary drinker,

(01:19):
and he's just made an amazing discovery. Your liquor goes
a lot further that way, Danny, Danny, what the devil
do you want them?

Speaker 2 (01:29):
I don't want to nag you, Darling.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Shouldn't be giving a down good imitation. I see who
that is?

Speaker 4 (01:35):
Sure, Darling?

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Just a minute, I'm coming, Yes, I'm looking for a
Danny Braiden.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
What do you want with him?

Speaker 1 (01:45):
I'm an old buddy. Here's from La. Just tell him
it's Jack Buck. Tell?

Speaker 3 (01:50):
What are you doing here?

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Hi? Danny? Good to see it?

Speaker 3 (01:53):
What do you want?

Speaker 5 (01:54):
Buck? Tell?

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Now? Is there any way to talk your little girl here?
I think you weren't glad to see me.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
She'd be right.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
That's gratitude for you. And I think the minute I
stepped off that bus, I made tracks right over here.
Shouldn't have bothered. There's no bother talk. How are you doing?
Danny Swell? You don't look it well?

Speaker 3 (02:11):
You know me? Buck, I never believed in being ocentatious?

Speaker 1 (02:14):
He is one hundred grand?

Speaker 5 (02:16):
Are you kidding?

Speaker 6 (02:17):
Jarling?

Speaker 5 (02:18):
Shut up?

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Where can we talk?

Speaker 3 (02:21):
What's the matter with this?

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Two things? One you haven't invited me in?

Speaker 3 (02:24):
What's the other? Rh both no problems? All right, I'm
gonna gona take yourself a walk.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
No, you're gonna get mixed up in something.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Don't you understanding? I make it a nice long walk
like from here to Evanston. Well, all right, Danny better
call me before you come home.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
I like a girl of her mind.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Sit down.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Thanks?

Speaker 3 (02:49):
You said something about one hundred grand.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Not so fast, Danny boy. There are one or two
things we got iron out first, such as I gotta
be protected. Okay, then sign right here. What is this
just a little agreement that we split fifty to fifty
on your income for the next ten years.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
You think I'd be stupid enough to sign this?

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Why? But you gotta lose? Well, if I went to work,
you wouldn't do a thing like that.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
I don't be so smart.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Let's not kid each other, Danny. I know you from
a way back. You've got no more intention of doing
an honest day's work than I have. Now. If you
want to sign that agreement, Okay, If you don't, that's
all right too.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Give me a pen, Daniel M. Breton. That's that. I
was fine. Now, what's the deal?

Speaker 1 (03:44):
You remember a little girl you were married to named
Gloria Mason. That's your idea of a gag? How long
has it been since you got killed in that fire?

Speaker 3 (03:53):
What are you a coming?

Speaker 1 (03:54):
He just you and me for a couple of minutes.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
With him six years ago.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
As I recall it, never did find her funny, nothing
left to find, just some silver bridgework. I bet she
can afford platinum.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Now what are you babbling about?

Speaker 1 (04:07):
She's alive, Danny.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
You're nuts.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
She started that fire herself. What why get away from you?

Speaker 3 (04:16):
What kind of crack is that?

Speaker 1 (04:17):
I tell you? Gloria is right here in town. Only
she calls herself Glinda.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Glinda.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Yeah, that isn't all she changed. She doesn't have that
red hair anymore. And she's married, married huh to a
fellow named Phil Stacy, Phil, the.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Stacy that owns the Belmont Casino.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Uh huh. I understand she's nuts about him.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
You must be out of your mind.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Well, there is one way to convince yourself.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Go up and see.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
And while you're at it, you might ask her for
a couple of bucks, you know, so you're canna afford
a cab back. I'm sure she wouldn't want her husband
to walk.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
Yes, well, what do you know what? I never would
have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my
own eyes. What's the matter, Gloria? Don't you recognize you?
One and only? It's Danny.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
If you don't get out of here.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Will you do? Scream?

Speaker 7 (05:25):
Yes and go right ahead Phil, Phil?

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Of course we both know he isn't home.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
I made sure of that I don't know who you are, and.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
Gloria, you couldn't have forgotten or we meant to each other.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
I don't know what you're talking about.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Well, maybe I know a way to show you. Does
that bring back fond memories?

Speaker 4 (05:46):
What do you want, Danny?

Speaker 3 (05:47):
I knew what would ring a bell?

Speaker 4 (05:48):
What do you want?

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Only what's mine? You know?

Speaker 6 (05:53):
Ah?

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Now you're my wife, Honey. You don't know how I
missed you.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
I'm sure you found someone else to beat up.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Oh, Gloria, Oh, I beg your pardon, Glinda, there never
was anyone like you.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Well, what do you say? You pack your bags and
I'll take you home?

Speaker 4 (06:10):
Let me go?

Speaker 1 (06:10):
Oh, come on, sweet? Do you love it once you
get used to the bugs?

Speaker 4 (06:15):
What are you after?

Speaker 1 (06:16):
I told you you?

Speaker 3 (06:18):
I only hope Phil won't be disappointed.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
You're not gonna say a word to him. I'll kill
you if you do.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Well, he's bound to find out, after all, he thinks
he's married to you.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
How much do you want?

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Now you think I came here for?

Speaker 4 (06:32):
How much do you want?

Speaker 1 (06:34):
I never thought of it like that, But if you'd
rather stick with Phil, I uh fire be it from
me to interfere with your happiness.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Let's let's make it five grand. That's a nice round figure.

Speaker 4 (06:49):
Don't be a fool. Where would I get it?

Speaker 3 (06:52):
It doesn't have to be cash, Honey, I'll take your check.
I'm sure you wouldn't stop payment.

Speaker 4 (06:57):
How do I know you won't be back again?

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Of course SI will, Glinda, you're my wife. What kind
of husband would I be not to drop by when
I'm in the neighborhood and I intend to be around
real often?

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Oh? I tell him? Man, how goes the battle?

Speaker 5 (07:29):
Who is this?

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Jack? Buckchell? Is Danny Aron?

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Just a second?

Speaker 1 (07:33):
It's for you, Danny?

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Who is it?

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Mister Buck?

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Tell hello?

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Hi? Danny?

Speaker 3 (07:39):
Fine?

Speaker 1 (07:40):
How'd you make out?

Speaker 3 (07:42):
How'd I make out?

Speaker 1 (07:43):
I understand you were up to see missus Stacey this afternoon.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Where do you understand that from?

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Oh? I got ways and means of my disposal? How
did we do?

Speaker 3 (07:52):
We didn't do?

Speaker 1 (07:54):
I don't get you, Danny, very simple?

Speaker 3 (07:56):
Buck, this isn't the right names. Well, I ought to
know I was married to him.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Don't try to hop me around.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
Never ended my mind. Sorry it worked out this way, Buck,
But maybe we can get together on something else.

Speaker 8 (08:08):
Sometimes give me a call if you get the ideas.

Speaker 5 (08:24):
It's some more coffee. Glinda asked if you wanted some
more coffee.

Speaker 4 (08:28):
Oh, no, thanks Bill.

Speaker 5 (08:30):
What's the trouble, baby, trouble.

Speaker 6 (08:33):
You haven't said two words since we sat down.

Speaker 4 (08:35):
Well, I got a slight headache.

Speaker 5 (08:37):
You want a right maybe if you ate something?

Speaker 4 (08:40):
Not hungry?

Speaker 5 (08:41):
You haven't been hungry for a week.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
You don't stop hicking on me.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
Sorry, honey, it's my faultfilling.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
I'm just on edge.

Speaker 5 (08:52):
I'm gonna call Doc Wilburn.

Speaker 4 (08:54):
I don't want you to. I tell you I'm perfectly
all right.

Speaker 5 (08:58):
And what's bothering?

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Nothing?

Speaker 4 (09:00):
Absolutely nothing, I swear.

Speaker 7 (09:03):
Look, Glynda, I promise when we got married, i'd never
ask any questions.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
I know that Phil and I appreciate it.

Speaker 7 (09:11):
But if something's worrying you and you want to tell Papa,
you'll always be ready to listen.

Speaker 5 (09:16):
Remember that.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
A Hello, Doris, it's Danny Bredon. Oh Hi, Danny, my
missus there? What Helma?

Speaker 4 (09:41):
No, No, she ain't.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
Oh I just got in a final note saying she's
going over to see you.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
Well, she left you ten minutes ago. I think she
had an appointment with John J. Malone. Who you know
that lawyer fella.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
What does she want with Malan?

Speaker 1 (09:53):
Well, I don't know, Dan.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
Oh gee, I shouldn't have told you. You won't say nothing.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
Don't you worry, Doroth, I won't breathe it to it.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
That's a second, had just a second.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
Yeah, I'm looking for John J.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
Malone to try.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
The Prescot Building. Understand, he's got an office there.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
His secretary told me he's never in, and then she
said if it was real important, I could find him here.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
Because she's just a great big blab of mount uh
huh skip it, come on in, missus uh.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Braydon selma brief, sit down.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
Well, you don't have to worry. I won't bite. I
left my uppers and my other head of Why I
don't try to figure it out. It's not worth it.
What's your problem? The problem? There must be an echo
in here.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
I'm sorry, mister Malone's just that I'm nervous. Why, Well,
I've never done anything like this before. Danny would kill me.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
If he knew, Danny, I'd take it as your husband
is a divorce. Oh no, what is it? Well?

Speaker 2 (11:04):
You see I married Danny three years ago after his
first wife died in a fire. Well, well, just for
the sake of argument. Suppose she didn't die, Suppose she was.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
Still alive, and she's still his wife. It doesn't, Oh,
not stop on my account, Malone. Didn't your mother ever
teach it on? Not lieutenant?

Speaker 6 (11:25):
She also taught me not to be noisy.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
That's a follo, Lieutenant. Thanks, I will look Brooks. I
happen to be very busy, and.

Speaker 6 (11:31):
You're going to be a lot busier before the day
is all the paint.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
No attention to him, Talma.

Speaker 6 (11:34):
I'm afraid she's gonna have to I'm with the police.
Missus Braden.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
How did you know her name was brad?

Speaker 6 (11:39):
Oh, you'd be surprised what I know about her? She's
thirty one, blonde and recently widowed.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
Widow. All right, simmy, what are you getting at?

Speaker 6 (11:46):
Her husband was murdered an hour ago.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
No, yes, you're lying.

Speaker 4 (11:50):
You're making this all up?

Speaker 6 (11:51):
Are you no better?

Speaker 1 (11:52):
Are you accusing her harm? Oh?

Speaker 6 (11:54):
No, no, Oh, I wouldn't worry, Thomas. Didn't they tell
you Malone was amazing? Why with them on your right
all you can possibly loses your life? Hain't that accompanying thought?

Speaker 1 (12:08):
You're listening to the amazing miss Malone? It's the Silver
Jubilee on NVC East and West meet as mister Moto
moves swiftly against those who would corrupt and destroy freedom
loving people everywhere on the national front, Martin Cain, Private Eye,

(12:29):
will find himself involved in plenty of action as he
becomes involved in whirlwind adventures beginning July. First, mister Moto
and Martin Kin two invitations to suspense, intrigue and mystery
over your favorite NVC station. And now back to the
amazing mister Malone. There's one nice thing you can say

(13:02):
for my apartments, it's convenience. Within a space of five minutes,
I had two visitors and both gifted conversation lists. The
first was Thumb of Braiden, the second Lieutenant Brooks, and
the dialogue was real scintillating. Then Brooks got started on
a monologue. That's when the party got dull.

Speaker 6 (13:19):
That's my duty to one you, missus Braiden, that anything
you say may be used in evidence.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
Why did you shut up? Can't you see she's in
a state of shock. Thumber, huh can you understand me?

Speaker 2 (13:30):
He said?

Speaker 1 (13:30):
I killed then you didn't mean it, didn't I look, Sidney,
use your head? Where's a motive.

Speaker 6 (13:34):
Oh, you're just talking the pad your part.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
Where's the motive?

Speaker 6 (13:36):
Why that husband has used to beat her like she
was whip queed. That's not true, are you kidding? The
neighbors told me cut your around regularly.

Speaker 5 (13:43):
I didn't care. And why were you consulting Malone?

Speaker 1 (13:45):
Well that's a confidential matter. How did you know she
was here?

Speaker 5 (13:49):
My friend?

Speaker 6 (13:50):
Mister Tody, you mean Durris, you're right now.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
Listen to me, Thoma, remember that matter we were discussing
before he walked in. But you know about this girl?
You knew whose husband thought you was dead? The girl
I knew that, the one who was supposed to be
burning that fire? What was her name? I can't think
you've got some Look.

Speaker 6 (14:07):
Is this a private game or can a strange and
take your hand?

Speaker 1 (14:10):
That's private.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
It's Stacy, Glenda, Stacy.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
Phil Stacy's wife. I don't know. Check you go along
with Brooks? Now you mean I can have it. I'll
get your hopes up, lieutenant. He's only for a lend.
I'll be back for after I look up another prospect.
I mean, oh, fell, Well if it isn't the amazing

(14:37):
mister Malone, come on in. Thanks, Hey, he's quite a place,
you know. I've never been up here like it? Why
shouldn't I didn't I furnish it?

Speaker 5 (14:47):
What are you talking about?

Speaker 1 (14:48):
I figure with the door I drop at your club,
I must have at least bought the drapes.

Speaker 5 (14:52):
Thanks Drake.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
What do you got Scotch? That's my boy? Say when
that's one of the whoop?

Speaker 5 (15:03):
Yeah, what about you? No, I'll sit this one out.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
Well, like they say, here's the crime.

Speaker 5 (15:12):
Hmm, all right, Malone, what's in your mind?

Speaker 1 (15:15):
You can't a man just drop around for sociable.

Speaker 5 (15:17):
Drink and not if you're other man?

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Well, I was kind of hoping to meet your wife.
I have heard a lot about her. She round. No,
unless you be back, I have no idea. And that
case suppose we have a little talk as.

Speaker 7 (15:28):
A concern Glinda vitally, then I don't want to hear it.
I don't discuss my wife with strangers. How do you
know I'm a stranger?

Speaker 1 (15:34):
Maybe Glenna and I have a big romans blowing Oh,
don't make me laugh. You know my reputation.

Speaker 5 (15:38):
Yeah, you're a sucker for a long shot.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
That's I supposed to me? Take it anyway you like? Look,
Phil I want to be on the level with you.
I represent a thelm of braid.

Speaker 5 (15:46):
I told you I wasn't interested.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
You ought to be because your wife's enough.

Speaker 5 (15:49):
Malone. I think you better go.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
You don't fail. You're a remarkable guy. There are not
many men around wh would trust their wives so implicitly.

Speaker 5 (15:58):
I wouldn't know.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
Well, I would thanks for the drink, and tell Glinda
I was sorry to miss her. Maybe I'll catch her
on the next round.

Speaker 7 (16:14):
And you, Glinda, Yes, Bill oh here may help you
with those packages.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
Thanks?

Speaker 1 (16:21):
How do you feel much better?

Speaker 5 (16:23):
Good? Would you like a drink?

Speaker 4 (16:25):
I'd love it.

Speaker 5 (16:26):
You sit down right over here and Papa'll take care
of Did you bring the evening papers?

Speaker 4 (16:30):
Oh? I forgot?

Speaker 5 (16:32):
It doesn't matter. All the news is bad, which reminds
me John J. Malone was up to see you this afternoon.
Who you know? Lawyer?

Speaker 4 (16:42):
But he's representing film. What did he want?

Speaker 5 (16:45):
I didn't give him a chance to say it? When
you want your drink?

Speaker 4 (16:49):
What did he say? Phil?

Speaker 5 (16:50):
I told you I wouldn't listen to him, but I
will do you.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
I don't understand.

Speaker 7 (16:56):
Look, baby, you know our deal. I never asked you
about anything, but if you're in a jam. I want
to know about it.

Speaker 4 (17:03):
Tell you everything's fine, darling.

Speaker 7 (17:08):
All right, Glenda, I want to be like you say
everything's fine and malone or no malone. Papa's gonna keep
it that way.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Come, mister Malone. That's right.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
I'm so glad to find you in.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
You don't know the trouble I had getting your address.
You shouldn't have bothered.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
Oh, I don't mind, all right, let's.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
Get it over with. I beg your pardon. Look, Junior,
this is an old story to me, though generally I
find him waiting inside. Won't you sent here to warn
me off? How in the world did you know that
I'm amazing? Besides that bulge in your pocket gave you away?

Speaker 3 (17:46):
Oh you mean this old thing?

Speaker 1 (17:48):
Hey, isn't that kind of heavy for a little man
like you to carry? But then that makes you a
big man, doesn't he? Definitely who sent you to Glenda Stacy?
And why would missus Stacey you want to do that?
Because we both know she killed Danny Braydon? Did she? Absolutely?
She was legally married to Break and he was probably
shaking her down, so she took the obvious way out.
See my point, Well, isn't there something you're overlooking. You're right, Pud,

(18:10):
I'd completely forgotten about her husband. Did Phil send you? Oh?
Why should he? Well, by his own admission, Oh, I wouldn't,
were you.

Speaker 9 (18:17):
I was just trying to get a cigarette and as
so you can smoke mine? No nicotine, thanks, And he
was saying.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
Oh, yeah, Philla do anything in the world for his wife,
would he? Well, that's what he claimed, And I see.

Speaker 3 (18:30):
No, wait a minute, don't tell me you thought of
something else.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
Yes, indeed, Danny must have just recently found out Glenda
was living. Would you believe I have no idea what
you're talking about? What? It doesn't matter. I was just
thinking out loud, your mind, not at all the way
I see it, Danny must have learned about Glenn in
the past few weeks. Otherwise this whole affair would have
been precipitated a long time ago. Now, how did Danny
find out?

Speaker 9 (18:52):
May I offer a suggestion, please do? Maybe he saw
her on the street.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
No, No, that's too convenient. There has to be another
party who's pried the information, does it. That's the only
way that adds up. Who could have tipped off Danny
that Glenda was alive? I had no idea. Well thanks anyway, friend,
you've been real sweet to let me run on like this. Fuck,
it's no matter, kid. Can't you take it down there? Yeah?
I know I ought to be ashamed of hitting anyone
smaller than myself, But you don't think a bully like

(19:17):
me would hit anyone bigger?

Speaker 6 (19:24):
See oh in see hey, sensman, how do you spell consensus?

Speaker 1 (19:33):
Don't tell him? Heck you're those tool vision.

Speaker 6 (19:35):
Oh no, make for the healthman.

Speaker 3 (19:37):
That man's here again.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
Look here, you don't want to talk to you.

Speaker 6 (19:40):
No speak at the end.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
I'm not kidding, Lieutenant, I got the whole thing figured out.
When I'm serious, tellma Braiden didn't kill her husband. I'll naturally,
it'd say that naturally, And I've just been with the
boy who can prove it.

Speaker 6 (19:48):
But why didn't you bring him with you?

Speaker 1 (19:49):
He was in no condition to travel, he had a gun,
and I saw no point in letting him use it.

Speaker 5 (19:52):
Coward? Who'll send him?

Speaker 1 (19:54):
Well, I wouldn't say, but I'd be willing to hazard
a guess.

Speaker 5 (19:56):
All right, let's see it.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
Try and stay with me. Who was blackmailing Phil Stacy's wife? Why?
Because she was really Danny's wife. She was never legally
married to Phil.

Speaker 6 (20:05):
And this couldn't possibly be as confusing as you make
it sound.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
If you think it's rough way to hear the rest.
Danny thought she was dead. Recently he learned she was alive.
Now that information had to come from someone.

Speaker 5 (20:17):
Who was it?

Speaker 6 (20:18):
Well, you tell me I'm the Schlemiel, remember.

Speaker 1 (20:20):
Okay, it came from the same guy who sent that
punk Junior great around and knocked me off. And who's
that Phil Stacy?

Speaker 5 (20:26):
Are you out of your mind?

Speaker 1 (20:27):
Well? Who'd be in a better position in all about
Glenda's background?

Speaker 6 (20:29):
Well, why would Fill want a blackmail his own wife?

Speaker 1 (20:31):
That's what I keep telling you. She's not his wife,
all right?

Speaker 6 (20:33):
Why do you want to blackmail Glenda? He's in the chips.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Where do you suppose that backroll came from? Originally?

Speaker 6 (20:38):
Glenda George?

Speaker 1 (20:39):
She must be the one who's loaded Phil's past is
a mystery. When Glenda left Danny, she must have waltzed
off with all of Danny's dog.

Speaker 6 (20:45):
This assumes he had money at one time. Yeah, and
let's see if I understand you, it's your theory. Phil
was blackmailing Glinda through Danny hooray.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
You caught on Well, I'll have to give you credit.

Speaker 5 (20:57):
Malone. You were right on one count.

Speaker 6 (20:59):
The information that Gwenda was alive did come through a
third party, Only it wasn't Phil Stacy. It came from
a fellow named Jack Buctell.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
But if Phil wasn't the one who supplied the information,
you were.

Speaker 6 (21:10):
Wrong on COUNTU. Yeah, but don't feel too badly. You
were fifty percent right and for you, that's a forty
nine percent proof.

Speaker 5 (21:17):
Keep it up, counsel.

Speaker 6 (21:18):
You don't find.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
You are listening to the amazing mister Malone. It's the
Silver Jubilee on NBC. They say there's a thin line
between the real and the unreal, a place where time
stands still, a land of silent mystery. We bring you

(21:47):
excursions into the unknown, journeys into the future, and through
the shadow filled corridors of the minds of men on
Dimension X, a program designed to bring you the unusual.
Tom Conway brings us back to reality as the deboneer
gentleman adventurer Simon Templar, who finds suspense and mystery awaiting

(22:09):
him as the Saint. And here's another program. Note be
sure to hear Martin Kain Private Eye, beginning on this
station July first, and featuring the well known screen star
Lloyd Nolan, Dimension X, The Saint and Martin kin Three
top programs designed for your summer entertainment over NBC Where

(22:30):
the Chimes are, and now back to the amazing mister Malone.
They say you can't keep a good man down, and

(22:50):
there're absolutely rights. Where Lieutenant Brooks thought he had knocked
me out with his haymaker, that Jack Bucktell supplied the
information of blackmail Glende. He was wrong. It was a
bad blow, all r right. But I picked myself right
off the floor and stepped into another.

Speaker 6 (23:04):
So Phil needed Glinda's though, Man, why you schmoe boy.
Phil's been in the chips since nineteen.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
Thirty, all right, So I made a mistake.

Speaker 6 (23:11):
It's nice of you to admit it.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
I can't help myself. Where's this Jack buck Tel?

Speaker 5 (23:14):
Now you know how to hunt?

Speaker 6 (23:16):
You ask that, and I happened to be prepared with answer,
Susman showing mister bucktoe never mind.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
I make myself listen, lieutenant, if you know what's good for.

Speaker 6 (23:24):
He'll be silly. If I know what's good for me,
I never would have been a cop. This is John J.

Speaker 5 (23:28):
Malone, so acting pressed.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
He's a big man. Buck tell, I want to talk
to you. I had nothing to say, Kenna. Could you
leave us alone for a couple of minutes.

Speaker 6 (23:35):
So you think it's safety outweighs you about forty pounds.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
Yeah, on second thought, maybe you better stick around. I listen, Buck,
tell how much would Danny give you? What do you
mean how much he give me? All the money he
blackmail from Glenda and he didn't get a dime from her,
so he held out on you. No, he did just
a minute. There was no split. That's because there was
nothing too split. He told me Glinda wasn't the right girl.
But you knew better. I knew nothing of the cop.
When you learned Danny double cross, you killed him. You
went to was a popm and you shot him in

(23:59):
the back. Crazy? All right, Brooks, what are you working for?
Do you hear him confession? No? Holy practically I didn't
hear you just haven't been reading.

Speaker 6 (24:06):
Between a lie and all a readon you've done must
have strained your eyes. He couldn't have killed Danny. Why
not because at the time of the murder he was
in Detroit he won. You heard me at the fly
suscman there this morning to pick him up.

Speaker 1 (24:17):
That doesn't make sense if he didn't kill Danny, and
it's barely possible your client did. Oh.

Speaker 6 (24:23):
Thanks for helping us out, Malone. I don't know what
i'd do without you.

Speaker 1 (24:39):
Yes, I bet you're Glendis Stacy.

Speaker 4 (24:43):
I beg your pardon.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
My name's John J.

Speaker 5 (24:45):
Malone.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
Didn't your husband tell you I was around earlier today?

Speaker 4 (24:48):
No, he didn't.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
I was. Unfortunately I missed you.

Speaker 4 (24:51):
What can I do for you, mister Malone?

Speaker 3 (24:53):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (24:53):
You can invite me in.

Speaker 5 (24:54):
I think that'd be a mistake.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
Oh, hi, Phil, I didn't see you.

Speaker 5 (24:58):
It's pretty obvious. Want Malone?

Speaker 1 (25:00):
Well, I just dropped bid to apologize? Apologize? Yeah? Uh?
Can I come in?

Speaker 5 (25:06):
All right?

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Thanks? This is a lovely place you have here, Glenda, Glenda, Well,
I feel I know you so well, after all, I've
heard so much about you.

Speaker 5 (25:16):
All Right, Malone, what do you want?

Speaker 1 (25:17):
You're much more hospital this afternoon. You invited me to
have a drink? Remember, what do you want? I guess
I have to buy my own. I don't know where
the money's gonna come from.

Speaker 5 (25:24):
Gee, get to the point.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
Well, as I started to tell you I represent a
Thoma Braydon.

Speaker 5 (25:31):
I think you better leave us alone. Glenda.

Speaker 4 (25:32):
No, I want to hear this.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
I don't blame you a lover. It's pretty good yarn.
You see, Thelma was married to a boy named Danny.

Speaker 5 (25:38):
You don't have to go into that. We read it
in all the papers.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
Not all fail You see, Thoma wasn't really married to
him legally, he was still Glenda's husband. What that's a lie?
I should have told him, lover.

Speaker 5 (25:48):
Look, Malone, what are you trying to hand me?

Speaker 1 (25:50):
Few folks have nothing to worry about what Danny did.
There's nothing to prevent you from getting remarried.

Speaker 5 (25:54):
I don't like those kind of jokes.

Speaker 1 (25:55):
No joke, Phil, But I did do you an injustice.
Some guns will come up to my apartment early this afternoon,
and like a fool, I jumped to two conclusions, one
that you sent him just hear me out. I also
came up with a weird theory that you were behind
a blackmail plot to shake down Glendon.

Speaker 5 (26:10):
Are you out of your mind? I must have been.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
Lieutenant Brooks told me you were the one with the money.
I didn't take his word for it. So I checked
with your bank. He was right. Where do you get
I know, I got my nerve. They told me something else.
But in the last month, Glenda here issued four checks
to Danny Brayden. I know about that, sure I did. Baby,
he's telling the truth, lover. He saw the endorsement. So
it's all being the kind of man you are. Naturally

(26:33):
it took steps, and all of them in the direction
of Danny Braiden's apartment. Then later you sent that punk
around to scare me off when you thought I was
gonna hang Danny's murder on Glenda.

Speaker 5 (26:42):
You're trying to say I killed him.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
I thought I did.

Speaker 6 (26:44):
Why you know he wants to slug made which I
hadn't come in so fast.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
Go on, you're too big a hand to miss a cue.
Now fool the public and act like a policeman. Hey, George,

(27:12):
how about little service here?

Speaker 5 (27:14):
What are you complaining about?

Speaker 1 (27:15):
My lord?

Speaker 6 (27:15):
We're getting as little ass bus.

Speaker 1 (27:17):
Oh, I don't know why I come here every week.
Everybody's a coming. Listen, listen, Malone, what do you want at?

Speaker 6 (27:25):
How did you know film killed Danny Brady?

Speaker 1 (27:28):
Well, it all came down to the process of elimination.
You had a cast iron alibi for Jack Budtell, So
so that took care of him. And as far as
Glenda was concerned, it wasn't in character for her to
commit murder, or she would have done it long ago.
Look what she went through to get away from Danny.
Then when he turned up again she paid him off.

Speaker 6 (27:49):
Well, maybe maybe she got tired of it.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
Never you know, the first touch is always the hardest
for a blackmailer. Once the victim kicks through, from then
on it's clear sailing. So that took care of Glenda
and left his phil.

Speaker 6 (28:01):
Oh why didn't he let on to Glenda that he
knew about Danny, Because.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
That's kind of a guy. Phil Is he was crazy
about her. If she thought she was keeping something from him,
he wasn't gonna let on. Nah, does that take care
of all your questions? Now?

Speaker 6 (28:13):
Now this is all well and good about the process
of elimination, but there's one party in this deal. You
will relook your client. Why couldn't thumb.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
Have been filtered because you made the paint? Well, well,
you were right last week, so now it had to
be my turn. After all, I'm the one who's amazing.

Speaker 3 (28:28):
Good night, Lieutenant.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
Never heard the story of a man who came up
with an interesting theory about life. Then one of his
friends shot at full of holes. As a lawyer, I
can tell you it was murdered. I'll put you in
on the gory to Tales next week, so when I
pick me up in my office the same time, I'll
be waiting for you. Good night. George Tree was starred
