Speaker 1 (00:02):
For everyone.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Welcome back to another episode of the Apex the Podcast,
Ladies and Gentlemen. I am in my car, I am
at work, and I am on my lunch break, but
we are still ripping a pod here for day one
of E Sports World Cup aka the mid season Playoffs.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Here for a LGS.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
I'm here with Dawn, and I just wanted to get
something out real quick because the timing in Saudi is
a lot different than the timing that we typically have
with a lot of these events, so it's gonna I
didn't want to wait till I got home record something,
then put it out with only a few hours left
before we get into the next day. So we're gonna
rip one right now. It's not gonna be the same equipment,
(00:45):
it's not gonna be as high quality, but I just
want to get the information out there for everybody who's
looking for it, because there's a lot of people like
me who were at work who I was lucky enough
to be able to watch at least games four through ten,
but a lot of people can't.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
So so let's get this information out there.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Don Let's kick it off with our winner of the day,
and that was TSM.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
They ended the day with one hundred and seventeen points.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Second place was Falcons, third was NIP, and fourth was Fanatic.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
And then unfortunately, we.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Have our three teams that are exiting us or exiting
the tournament, I should say relatively quickly. That was movie
Star Coy, that was Edward Gaming, and don my thin
cuts out at the bottom of the last team.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
The last team was zero Tenacity, zero Tenacity.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
There we go. That was the one. Those were the
teams that are going home on the first day.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Brutal set up for them because they flew all the
way out here just to play that one day and
they don't get a chance to move on.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
But that is the reality of the tournament.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
So that is where we stand right now as we
move through the first day, and I guess we'll kick
it off with TSM first because kind of weird, it
wasn't like they had any point where they were always
kind of hovering within that top seven. He didn't really
think that they were going to threaten for first place
though until basically the very.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
End, but they were impressive from start to finish.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Dawn, I mean, you bring in a guy like Panic
and I think, you know, he's kind of becoming a
star in a way, and that interview at the end
was so funny that he didn't the ACE because he
was like, he was trying so hard to play it cool.
But you can tell he's kind of starstruck right now
because easy On tweeting like, I can't believe I'm here
and I'm so excited for this, and he deserves it, man.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
I mean, overall, they played great.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Duplex and Jent definitely played their asses off as well too,
but they had a lot of placement. I was listening
to the broadcast and snipedown and said something along the
lines of I think their average placement was like four
and a half, so they were consistently getting top fives
throughout a ten game set. Really impressive, really cool. You
(02:52):
what surprised you the most about TSM today?
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Yeah, I mean I think I was Panic played great
as a dupe call amazing, But I mean Gent was
unreal today. He ended up being the kill leader with
twenty five kills, which you know, was one more than
hol which when you're doing anything more than how it's
pretty damn impressive. I would say.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
So.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Gent was just a steady rock the whole day. Damage
led them with Panic led them with damage with eleven
point three k but Gent was right there just under
ten k and again with twenty five kills. Just absolutely
insane day for Gent, another staff for people, along with
what kind of what snipedown said, their worst place in
(03:35):
these ten games with ninth So you go throughout all
these games ten games. It's hard enough to do that
in six games, right, you go ten games and you
don't finish lower than ninth place, I think that's gonna
set you up to be pretty damn good. And especially
when you go into these last two games on Broken Moon,
where things are a lot more open, teams are a
lot more desperate trying to pick up the extra points
(03:56):
to qualify into losers or or you know, miss getting
or just mis getting eliminated or qualifying the finals. You know,
whatever their situation was. There was just a lot of desperation.
And they did such a good job of just keeping
focus of getting a lot of things right and doing
a really good job of resetting when they needed to,
because that was a big thing I thought they did
(04:17):
really well today. It was they definitely got a knock
a decent amount of time of the time, but they
reset so well today that it was just, you know,
it was just a force that I just don't think
anybody really was like fully prepared for. Because again we
had talked about the Falcons and the Nips and some
other teams and TSM we knew could probably make finals,
but not really win it in the way that they
(04:38):
did this this this set. So the only other thing
I'll say is that, hey, the jersey curse might be broken,
is all I'm going to say. Because I had a
TSM jersey on today and they won the day, So
we might be in some better times for the POD.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
It might be some better times for the Pod for us,
So that's real big for us.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
So going through the top sepment teams that are already
going to be making it to final Sunday, I already
said the top four, which was the TSMS, the Falcons,
the NIP and Fanatic, but the remaining few teams that
are going to be there Sunday, we got Keena Trope,
we got Wolves, and we've gotten Navy, And I think
we expected the Navy. We expected the Fanatic and the
(05:19):
top three. I mean, you could have said that and
that would have made sense. You look at Wolves and
you look at Keena Trope. I don't know if we
had them in that spot there, don like, I don't
think we had them that high when we did our
our our tier ranking list yesterday. But they're here and
they played great, man Like, honestly really impressed with Wolves today.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Yeah, hand up, that's on me. I have them getting
eliminated the first round, so that is uh, that's my fault.
I'll take that one. But no, they definitely played exceptional.
I was, like I said, my biggest worry with both
of these teams, I just wasn't sure their play style
would convert over to Land as well. You know, Keina
Trope definitely rely a lot on Yuka Predator for a
(06:03):
lot of their kind of leadership and role. But Voles
was insane. He had eighteen kills almost ten k damage
again kind of really piggybacking off of his performance during
a back North Pro league where he finished off fiving kills.
And they did such a good job today. They took
a lot of fights. They had forty kills, which is
very solid number. I think it was a tied for
(06:25):
fourth in the lobby, So big shout out to them
and Wolves again. You know you had talked about where
they weren't at the Open and they you know, there's
a lot of questions about this roster, you know, and
I just wasn't sure again that they would be able
to translate things over to the land. You know. It
wasn't like they really dominated a Packs South Pro League
or anything like that. But you have no name that
(06:46):
comes in and gets sixteen kills twelve point seven k damage. Again,
just a very exceptional performance from a roster that I
don't think a lot of people expected to qualify directly
to finals. But you have to give them their flowers,
you know, they did such a good and it's again
I always tell people I love to do predictions because
as much as I love to get stuff right, it's
almost just as fun as getting stuff wrong because you
(07:08):
get to see cool stories you weren't expecting. So it's
it's always cool to see and absolutely amazing job by
both those teams to uh to get in directly into
finals and they can get a little bit more more
of a relaxed land than maybe they're used to.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
So now we move on into some other storylines here
and just just weird things in general. And one thing
I noticed really don when it came to these ten
game sets is that you cannot just win a game
and coast yourself into the next round.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
And we found that with AGG. They win the first
game and it was pretty dominant.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
They get fourteen kills and the win to kick it off,
and then after that they just never found their footing
ever again. I believe there was one game where they
got kind of late deep into the game. I think
they got like a fifth place. I don't have it
up with me right now. I don't have like my
computer or anything, but they just never got back into it.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Man.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
And the same thing with Furia has a win and
they dropped down to eleventh, AGG back there at ninth.
So it's like with these ten game sets, you can
have good placement, but this is what we were talking
about yesterday on the stream. You cannot just rely on
one win or getting good placement to move on into
the finals. For Esports World Cup, you're going to need
(08:19):
to get some kills, and a lot of teams just
couldn't find their footing after initial great starts, and and
that kind of happened.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Now Furia did have something weird go down.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Keon had like a weird moment where they had to
basically kick him out of the game.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
They paused the entire set for a little bit.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
We were trying, We're hoping he was okay, which he is,
thankfully he was, just he just hadn't eaten and his
body was going into like a like a state of
shock according to him. But they weirdly enough, when he
goes down and they restart the game, they got a
bunch of kills. At that point, they were sitting tied
I think for eighteenth they were sitting in the elimination zone.
(08:56):
And then Madness and Keon go get a bunch of
kp and I think they get second place overall in
that game. That ends up solidifying them keeping them in.
But don I mean, we saw it with a lot
of different teams today. You need more than just one
good placement and pro league it works.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Here's not going to Yeah, I mean all gamers, I
think definitely is like the epinomy of kind of like
that sentiment, right, you know, they they come out, they
have an amazing first game, you know they're right, and
the high of having some of their you know, the
fans and I believe some people from the Ork, you know,
in the crowd and they're feeling good and you see dropped,
you know, hyping up the crowd, and then you just
never really heard from them for four or five games.
(09:31):
I mean, I think if I do the math right,
games two through six, they got five points after getting
twenty four in the first one. So you take yourself,
you know, from first place, and now all of a
sudden you're down, you know, in the range of six, seventh, eighth,
and now you really have to like put the put
back in the work, and they just never seem to
find their footing again, and the lobby, you know, like
I said that, like you mentioned, I think they had
(09:51):
like one maybe two okay games after that, But when
you get twenty four points in game one and then
you get you know, just doing the quick math, trying
to do this off the top of my head, and
I'm definitely gonna get the math wrong. I think it's
twenty eight. They have twenty eight points throughout the last nine.
That's just honestly, it's probably really for them, it probably
feels inexcusable, you know, like it's just it's not something
(10:12):
that can happen if you're gonna be a team that's
gonna threaten to win a land and you know, you
go from game one and they're not really be able
to do what you need to do Games two through
ten again, you know there's gonna be some circumstances that
maybe like someone entered them or there was a bad
fight or whatever, but like you know, with dropped and
skittle and zap, like, there's probably gonna be no excuses
(10:33):
that 'll be like, hey, we just have to be better.
So that was definitely a tough storyline to watch as
that unfold.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
We had talked about this before Dawn too, like we
had said before that agg has done this in the past.
I remember when we were doing pro league stuff. It
was like, oh, they always start with something good and
then they kind of just coast through the rest of it.
And I don't want to say the word coast meaning
they're not trying or anything like that. It just seems
like maybe a switch gets flipped and it they just
(11:00):
don't get into those same spots that they're expecting to
get into, and then they have a situation like this
and I feel like this is the epitome, Like this
is the worst feeling you can have in that situation
because starting off as strong as they did, and ending
as bad as they did, just the contrast is gonna hurt,
and knowing that you had the opportunity to just automatically
make a finals on day one is something that you
(11:22):
don't want to forget and you don't want to squander that,
and unfortunately that is currently where they are at for
this one. So agg comes to mind. But probably the
biggest storyline for struggling teams out there had to be
al Katzia. Yeah, me and you talked a lot about
them yesterday. We had hyped them up a ton. Chat
was hyping them up a ton, and everybody's really excited
(11:43):
about al Kadzi and then what do they do. They
come out there and they were flirting with death basically
the entire tournament until the end, essentially just right there
at the end, and when they.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
Needed to, they got a crazy fight on Broken Moon.
There was an engagement with like the bottom like four teams.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
Yeah, they had sentinels inside, they had movie Starkoi and
they were just able to come out on top of
that one and basically secure their spot.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
But it was weird from mel Kadzia. All day long,
they were just struggling.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
Yeah, I mean like you mentioned, like, well, just touch
on the moment again. I was, I was streaming the
games and I was able to kind of see it
when they went to the map, ye know, I was like,
oh shit, al Kasia, movie Star coy Z ten, and
Sentinels are literally all having to go through the same choke, Like,
how are we getting this scripted of a story to
where only two of these teams are going to make
(12:35):
it through and they're literally having to fight each other
to figure, you know, figure out what those spots are.
And you know, like you mentioned, you know, it's just
a single point here, single point there. You know, Sentinels
able to pick up just enough points to us make
it through while I was to get to that. But
al Katsia, I mean, I think just their experience there
at the end, you know, I think that they you know,
took that three B three. It was a little bit
(12:56):
longer than they probably would have hoped for because obviously
Sentinels was resetting after the fight with then we Star
koy But Sentinels, to their credit, definitely stalled out long
enough to get a little bit more of a fair
three D three. But ultimately, you know, Alkatia, I think
with their experience. You know, Price, he was able to
hold his head a little bit a little bit better
and was able to kind of lock in and get
those final pieces they need to kind of solidify their
(13:18):
their place. But I'm gonna be very curious to see
where their mindset is at because I already saw the
strafing Flame and tweeted that, you know, and again I'm
not sure if they'll actually follow through with it, but
he had mentioned that Price He's going to IGL the
rest of the rest of the tournament, which is not
something that you obviously want to see because I think
very highly straightening flame. I think you do as well.
He's been an IGL that really helped kind of transform
(13:41):
the game when they did so well out of Landslide,
And you know, he had the interview with Jayhawk obviously,
just kind of going through the Blackhand story with him
and player K and Easy Flash and just listen to
him talk about Apex, just being like, hey, the POI
is no excuse, Like, yeah, you should be able to
figure out a way to play out of any POI
if you want to be great in this game. And
you know, you kind of see, you know, he's had
(14:02):
some really good performances at some other lands. Obviously last
year's EWC, he pulls off one of the craziest resets
that you'll ever see. It extends that matchpoint finally even further.
They were one of the best teams in the group
stages outside of Falcons. You know, they were the second
best team in their group, So it really felt like
the recipe was there for them to repeat that performance.
But unfortunately, whether it was you know, if Straight and
(14:25):
Flame feels like it was some bad macro calling or
some you know, bad three three fights where the case
is their biggest thing that they know is hey, we're
at least still alive, and that's sometimes just all you
can do on a day. You're not gonna have your
best stuff, but if you can at least guarantee yourself
one more day to kind of rebound and get to
the next get to the next stage, you know, that's
all they can do. And for them to clutch it
(14:47):
up at the end, I think it shows the pedigree
that this roster can bring. And now they're gonna have
a clean slate and a team of the cleaton slate
that that's that is that good is a scary team.
So I'll be very to see what version we get
on Saturday.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Yeah, and I feel like with al Katzia, and I
could be one hundred percent wrong, but this feels like
a situation where you got this shit scared out of
you like early, and then from here you can kind
of just focus on your game. And I see them
still making finals. I think that that's just one of
those times where remember we saw this with them in
Pro League too, they were just like kind of I
don't once again, I don't want to say the word coasting,
(15:23):
but they were almost kind of just not in the
same zone as they were when they were at the
Open and maybe just to kick this off, maybe they
didn't expect the format to affect them as much as
it did, or maybe they just, you know, this first
time kind of being back together at this land sometimes
it takes a little bit to lock in here.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
But I think they're going to end up being okay.
At the end of the day.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
They did what they needed to do to win it,
and they went into an area with a bunch of
teams staring into the precipice of death, and they came
out alive. And that's what you have to look at
right now, if you're al Katzi, you can't look at
all the other bullshit because if you do, it's just
to piss you off. Is You've got to focus on
the fact that you walked into a building with three
other teams that were all staring into the same chasm
(16:06):
as you, and you came out on top of it.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
So that's all the matters, right, That's all the matters.
That's all they got to focus on. They move on.
That's when you're talking about your day at this point,
you just say, we moved on. That's it. That is
all the.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
Hey, boys, we we are somehow playing Saturday evening. We
play probably the worst apex we've had in weeks. So
you take those, you take them.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
One of my favorite things going into this tournament and
one of my favorite things going into game ten. After
game nine, there were four teams at the bottom of
the leaderboard all tied.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
To twenty eight assist thing. I mean, when you when you.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
Talk about moments where you're like, holy shit, this is
gonna get wild, and then we get that fight to
follow up on top of that, absolutely insane. I am
sending a bill to Sentinels Riley Loader, and I'm sending
Riley Loader and Carter and Carter, I'm sending all three
of them a bill for the heart attack they gave me.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
At work today, literally a.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
Customer walked up and I just straight up ignored him
as I was watching the fight. I was just watching
the fight, ignored him and pretended like I was grabbing
something until it was over. And then I thought it
was I thought it was done. I thought it was dusted.
They were eliminated, and then I found out that there
was still that one last team.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
That if I think it was Deer to Nasty, was
it not.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
Uh So, Yeah, the first team that they fought was
movie Star Koi, who were there tied on points with
z Ten was kind of holding the building on the
other side of the choke that they would have eventually
probably had to fight. But yeah, I mean they were
all within probably one hundred feet of each other. And
again you just you see movie Star koy Is walking
up to the building and you're like, oh shit, like
it's about to get real, Like we're about to see
(17:47):
some crazy stuff because you know, Qad is just around
the corner, and they're gonna want to fight to take
these kills and Sentinels. You know, they get the first
initial knock and movie Star Koy, movie Star Koy responds
and it turns into a TWOV two and then from
there since as absolutely clutch up, which again for a
team that doesn't have a ton of land experience. Yes,
it was a very bad day, and like you know,
(18:09):
I saw some tweets too of like we're somehow still playing, which,
like again you kind of just have to chalk it
up and move on, but like for them to clutch
up that moment and be able to at least get
themselves an opportunity to hopefully qualify. The obviously were still
waiting for z Ten's outcome to you know, officially know
what was going on, But to even just give yourself
a chance when you're playing the worst apex you've played
(18:30):
in quite a long time, it's it's it's a huge
kudos to them because they could have easily given up
on this day. They could have easily chalked it up
and said, hey, we have no shot, but they fought
to the end, literally fought to the end, and even
that last three B three against al Kasia, there was
no business for Sentinels to win that and the fact
that it came down to a one v one again,
(18:50):
I think it speaks volumes to what what Sentinels can bring.
And I know my chat was all begging for Sentinels
to qualify. So we have a very happy chat over
at a dk Don and AX pod to say the least.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
So dude, I mean, and this is this is one
of the situations where you just kind of think of,
like you mentioned, experience and also probably their expectation, right,
Like their expectation as a team was like, we don't
want to be fighting for the bottom here at the
end of the day though, that was just the reality
of what it was like. Sometimes you get put in
(19:23):
those spots where you never expected you to be as
low as you were, but you just have to battle
through it, and they did. You're You're living to fight
another day. You have to focus on the next day.
It wasn't what you wanted. Actually, kind of the last
few weeks haven't been what you wanted because even in
the regional final didn't go their way. But it is
what it is, man, they did it, they moved on
(19:43):
and I'll be excited to see what happens with Sentinels
moving into into the next day. But I'm looking over Don,
I'm trying to see if there's anything. Oh Fanatic, I
want to talk about Fanatic real quest and they are
the Kings of Stormpoint Yanatic. I think this was the
Fanatic we were expecting to see, y'all pro league long.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
We did not see them. They show up. Now, what
a great time for it. They looked fucking incredible.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
Yeah, I mean I was. I was freaking out during
those games, dude, Like you know, we have talked about it,
and I brought it up a few times, like fanatic.
I just feel like it's all about timing with this
roster and when was the time that it was going
to click for these guys to where it's consistent. And
I think we definitely saw on Stormpoint the version of
Fanatic that can challenge to be one of those teams
(20:28):
that maybe not the first two or three that get
the match point, but one of those teams that can
definitely get there in the right situation. And yeah, those
games on Stormpoint, it was game six, in game eight,
just you know, a twenty one point game, a twenty
five point game, and just did a such a good
job with not only the team fights that they were taking,
(20:49):
but just their positioning too, because there was a there
was a moment on when they were playing by the
cannon just underneath storm Storm Catcher and they had end
up taking a fight against Keenu Tree and Keenan Trup
obviously been fighting very well most of the day and
Fanatic again really hadn't had like that big pop off
moment yet. And they do such a great job of
just putting a ton of pressure on a key and
(21:10):
Trope forced them down the hill to where they eventually
clear that side of the cannon there, and then eventually
they just start shepherding teams down the hill. They start
pinching teams, and it's just such classic textbook apex of
what the best teams of the world do and just
putting pressure on every single team possible to where you
force your way into the best spot. We see it
(21:31):
with Falcons all the time, we see with Alliance all
the time that they're not a team that waits for
an opportunity. They create their own opportunities. And I think
that's what Fanatic did today, and I think if they
continue to do that, we're going to see the best
versions of this roster, because again we already know what
Yuka f can do. He's been one of the best
players in the world for some time now. But I
think we'll hopefully see the best versions of Libel Lace
(21:52):
and Colonel Garcia as we continue to move through this
tournament into finals, and I'm very excited. I really hope
they're able to back it up up because again, I
think there's a ton of upside with this roster and
they are definitely looking to kind of reclaim their you know,
kind of their area of being the best team in
a back north right now. So I'm I'm very excited
(22:12):
to see it, and I'm so happy for the boys
over there, because a good fanatic is it makes ALGs
what it is.
Speaker 1 (22:19):
Yeah, it does.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
You want to you want to see fanatic in there,
and it looked like these things these I guess you
call him group state and it's pool play, but these
group stage moments you were seeing uk F absolutely pop off,
like very excited with their wins when they were when
they were winning, and so you can tell that this
means a little bit more and maybe from the past performances,
(22:42):
not really happy with where they were at as a team.
Now you can tell he can feel it kind of
start coming together, and that's where that's where fanatics at
right now.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
Last thing, and I well, I was just.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
Gonna be I was just gonna break it up real
quick too before he jumped to uk F. Just in
terms of his stats, it was not even his best
day by any means. He had six kills and forty
six hundred damage. Courl Garcia and libel Ace both had
seventeen kills. And like, if you get your two guys
that are the inexperienced parts of the roster, you get
YUKF clicking in a finals, Zobby bro Like this team
(23:13):
could steamroll if everything goes that way. So like, I
just wanted to shout that out because Courl Garcia and
libel As def it deserved their flowers today, did a
very good job in their own right. And again at UKF,
I think taking a little bit more of like that
leadership role where he's kind of making a few more
calls maybe versus always being the first one in the fight.
So I'm very excited to see what they can do.
But who is your who is your last team? You
(23:34):
wanted to talk about my.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
Last thing because we never talked about them all season,
And once again we kind of just neglected him the
whole time, going in It's Ninja's in pajamas, and they
had back to back wins.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
At one point, they were leading the day pretty pretty heavily.
I'm pretty sure.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
I don't know for sure because I missed the first four,
but they were dominant.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
Man, they were. They were really really good.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
They fell off towards the end because the final points
when TSN one seventeen Falkins won to afford them ninety,
so they kind of did fall off at one point,
but it felt like they were always in the late game.
It felt like every single late game they were there
doing something, at least from what I watched. You know,
I missed the first four, but when I was sitting
(24:13):
there watching them, it was like and I felt like
they were always fighting, like a TSM or something like that.
Sentinels fought them, i think two games in a row,
but they just always seemed to be there.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
And I'm really happy with this roster.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
Man. I'm really excited to see what can happen with Nip.
And I'm happy too that sometimes when you look at
a pro league and you go into the subsequent land,
like right afterwards, sometimes those teams that surprise you don't
really perform as well as you like them to see
in the land setting. This one, I was really hoping
that they were going to prove people wrong of being like, Okay,
(24:47):
well maybe people didn't talk about it because there wasn't
a whole lot to talk about. No, there was, and
they proved it and making it to a final Sunday.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Again. It's awesome to see Vane back in the finals. Man. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
And and kind of to your point, you know, those
first couple of games, you were actually kind of on
the nose that like they didn't really have like the
greatest of starts. I know, you didn't get a chance
to see it, but like they really picked it up
in that middle portion of the ten games. They had
a game three where they had started out on E
District where they had a thirteen kill fourth place game,
and then they followed up with a twelve kill win
(25:21):
on E District, followed by another twelve kill win on
E Diistrict. So, like you're talking about a team that
is hot on the right map at the right time.
I want to bring up these stats real quick, just
because I'm curious what their performances were like on E district. Beforehand,
they were one of the top ten teams coming into
EWC in terms of performance on EED district, so they
(25:45):
definitely took advantage of that map. They did such a
great job, you know, getting those couple of wins, and
I mean just looking at their numbers, I mean they
just absolutely put out some kills. They got a sixty
kills of their ninety seven points, Krev leading with twenty
one and there were twenty Mcleven there with nineteen. I mean,
if you're a coach and you talk about wanting an
all round performance from your trio, like that's the numbers
(26:07):
you want to see, is that everybody's getting involved, everybody's
getting you know, feeling good about themselves. You know, the
lowest damage of the team was Vain with eighty eight
hundred and then he had Karev with ten one hundred.
So like they were all right there together, fighting well together.
And it's it's fun to watch a team that you know, yes,
like in their own rights, they're all individually really good players.
But when you have a team that is just so
(26:29):
well coordinated together in fights and they fight well together
and you know they are they're able to put up
numbers like this. You know, it's it's a special thing
to watch and I'm again a very excited again. Mcleven
has just been another fun piece that's come out of
America's this pro league. Obviously, correv is just his stardom
has kind of continued to rise as time has gone on,
(26:50):
and we've just seen the resurgence of the vein after
you know, him taking a break. You know, we saw
what he could do with oxygen and now he's just
basically repeating the same thing here with an ip. So
it is it's another fun storyline. And again, like we
we have to not have this as the last storyline
sometime we have to start with them sometimes because like
it always seems like we're forgetting it over. But they
(27:11):
we'll figure that out for finals maybe. But yeah, it's
just such a good performance. Again, it was such a fudge.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
I think the day overall was really fun. I've always
said that my favorite tournament that I've ever watched was
the first Sports World Cup, and so far, so good
with this one. Lots of storylines that final game. This
is what I love about their format versus the typical
ALGs format is first day, you do have a lot
riding on these games, like and I do kind of
(27:40):
like the idea of getting I feel like sometimes the
group stages gives you more opportunity to really figure out
the good teams from the bad teams, and this one
maybe not as much.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
But I don't think you could.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
Say a whole lot about the teams that were eliminated
early versus the teams that weren't right.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
I feel like you would.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
You could see an argument for all three of those
ones going down. And I do like the fact that
the first day that you're watching, there's already a lot
of drama, So I enjoyed that a lot. And something
else you mentioned you talk about the resurgence of McLevin
and or like him coming onto the scene, same thing
with Karev.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
I think that's the other part of this tournament that
I'm really loving right.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
Now is I've been wondering for the last year, So
what's gonna happen when some of these older players or
players who've been playing for a long time. You look
at a suite he decides to retire. It's like, what's
gonna happen with the scene with someone of the big
names go away? Like who's going to follow into those footsteps,
and I was kind of worried about it because you're
just like, I don't know who's going to come in here,
like who, like who knows? And then you look at
(28:39):
this tournament and you see like a panic sitting atop.
Speaker 1 (28:43):
The entire list.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
You've got the Mclub and you got the Crab, and
then you have a bunch of other players in a
bunch of other regions that are starting to break out
as well that fanatic roster. So it's like you look
at all this and you're like, Okay, we have some
up and coming players.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
We got some players who can fill those roles. We've
got some players who can fill those.
Speaker 3 (28:59):
Spots, and we still got a ton of personality.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
Man. So I'm really excited.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
Man. I cannot wait for tomorrow. I think the one
other thing about this day was that a lot of
the top teams soaked up a shit ton of the points.
I think I saw a stat from Genome that he said,
like thirty percent of the points went to like those
top teams. I might I might have gotten the person
wrong who said the stat I saw. I thought Genome
said it, but maybe he was somebody else. But thirty
(29:24):
percent of the points go to those top few teams.
That meant when you were going into game nine, there
was a gap, but it wasn't a big one.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
It wasn't a big gap at all.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
Yeah, it was again you just you gotta come down
to Like we mentioned earlier, you had four teams for
two spots that were all tied on twenty eight points.
Like you don't get that that often where there's that
many teams like tied, you know, and like and then
on top of that you have the layer of holy shit,
they're all rotating through the same choke at the same time.
(29:55):
Like it literally felt like a script. Like I'm sitting
here like freaking out on stream, just being like, dude,
like what is going to happen with this? Like I
have no idea who's going to come out because it's
not like any of those teams were like popping off
at that point, right, So it was just like who
just has better timing at one point? And you know,
Sentinels do a great job of getting to that building
first so they can kind of see movie start Koy
(30:16):
coming and again they end up winning that fight and
Alkotsu does a good job thirty in it, but you know,
even Z ten, you know Z ten had it end nope,
going up against al Kasia and ALKOTSI just happened to
have the better shields at the time, and we're able
to unfortunately eliminate Z ten from the from the tournament.
But yeah, there's just so many storylines, you know, I've
talked about on stream. I do prefer like the traditional
(30:37):
ALGs lands just because I think it allows more stories
to be built over a longer period of time. But
you can't pass up like the drama we get off
the bat day one, having three mews to go home.
You had seven teams going directly to finals, and they
got ten other teams that are go sweating their ass
off in an LCQ, we're only the six bet you know,
(30:58):
the six top teams instead top ten end up making finals.
So they've definitely done it right with the format in
terms of like the excitement from day one, and again,
I just can't wait to see what stories developed because
a lot of people have said that Poolbee is the
tough is the tougher of the two. So we already
had this much drama today, Like what are we gonna
see tomorrow?
Speaker 2 (31:19):
Like?
Speaker 3 (31:19):
And I'll define get it more than to that later
tonight when I stream a little bit. But like, I'm
so excited to see what's gonna happen because it's it's
it feels like it's hard to top this, but you
almost as soon as you think that it's gonna top it,
so it's yeah, it coulda be a good time.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Yeah, So we'll round out this pod for right now
because I still got to go eat and like go
back to work and stuff like that, and uh, and
Don's gonna get ready for the stream tonight.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
But speaking of the stream tonight, we.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
Are going to preview tomorrow, talk a little bit about
today probably on streaming, and preview tomorrow, go into what
we think is going to happen, and then after tomorrow
might do another lunch break.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
Pod h to get all the drama ready for the weekend.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
And then after the weekend we can have a more
traditional sense i'be have a more traditional pod because you know,
obviously I won't yeah work, but yeah, so go check
out Dawn stream. It is DK don zero six. It
is on twitch. You can go find us there. We
did one yesterday. I think we went live for about
three hours talking about the tournament leading up, all the
storylines leading up to it, the teams, and then also
(32:19):
did some fun stuff, did a tier list, it did
some jersey stuff. Tonight, we're probably just gonna go over
Pool B for the most part, probably won't go as long,
but don't forget to tune in and thank you guys
for tuning in as always, Ben, don do you have
anything else before we round this out?
Speaker 3 (32:35):
No, just appreciate the spot on stream so far and
definitely feel free to tune in later today, tomorrow, whenever
it's community convenient for you. And uh yeah, we're just
excited from where to come and is always appreciate the support.
Speaker 1 (32:47):
So okay, all right, boys and girls, we're gonna send
you guys on the rest of your day. Get ready
for Pool B tomorrow. Thank you guys for tuning in
as always. Fay y'all,
