The music world continues the mourn the loss of Joe
Louis Walker, who died on April thirtieth, surrounded by his
family and friends. He was seventy five. It was back
in January of this year the wbg o's Dave Popkins
spoke with Joe Louis Walker about his amazing career.

When I was a teenager, I opened up with Colonius Monk,
you know. I mean, I don't know how many guys
can say that, you know. And I got to talk
to him, and you know, and liked it. I liked
what I heard listening to rock and soul and fucking.
But when I heard Thelonious Monk, I liked him. You know.

could do that in the Bay Area. There would never

a huge highlight for you. You mentioned, you know, your

BB King growing up, and you played a fantastic tribute
for him at the Kennedy Center Honors with Bonnie Rait,
Edda James, Doctor John, Steve Cropper, Joe Williams got up
out of the audience and started singing every day I
