Speaker 1 (00:01):
But it is what Ado is cyber World, it is
your girl, the one and only Ash Brown, and this
is the Ash set It show. Over two thousand episodes
since twenty fourteen, half a million streams around the world.
None of this is possible without you, guys, So I
appreciate all of the love, all of the support. Today,
my very special guest is the twenty twenty two PBR
(00:25):
World Champion himself, Dalen Swerringin.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Hey, Dylan, Hey, thanks having me on today.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Thank you so much for having time in your schedule.
I know that you, you and the rest of the crew,
the Carolina Cowboys, you guys are getting ready to step
out in Atlanta. So we're looking forward to that.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
Oh yeah, for sure we are too. It's our second
event and we're ready to go at it.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
All right, sounding good? All right? So Dyalen, given your
incredible twenty nineteen season with the NAIRA and the PBR
Canada Championships plus qualifying for both the PBR World Finals
and fr what was the biggest lesson that you learned
(01:11):
about perseverance and dedication.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yeah. I think for me it was, you know, like
kind of in the beginning of that summer, like you know,
I was going to a rodeo every day and it
was just tiring, you know, And so I really had
to look to pursue past the tiredness and know that
there's gonna be an outcome that's gonna be something that
I'll have forever. You know. It just had to keep
(01:39):
going and keep believing in it, and it's all gonna
work out how it's supposed to work out. Yeah, And
I think that's what it was for me.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Yeah. Now, after achieving the pinnacle of becoming the twenty
twenty two PBR World Champion, how do you maintain that
intense drive and focus to pursue the second gold buckle,
especially with all the demands of the team.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Oh yeah, I think that's definitely been a learning deal
that I've definitely had learning for sure. Definitely live on
a sport.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
That you know, is all on our.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Own and now we have teams and then you go
back to being on your own and then go back
to the games. You know, it's kind of a tough,
tough deal and kind of everybody's still learning it. This
is our fourth year. I've been thankful to be on
the Carolina Cowboys for four years, and I hope. I
don't go anywhere, but I love that team and love
(02:40):
everybody on it, and they kind of pushed me to
be better and it's kind of a new outlook for Borden.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
Yeah, I would definitely say so, you guys. I mean,
just the sport itself has come so far so now
you know, we've got television shows and I definitely want
to talk a bit about as a first round pick
and a key member of the Carolina Cowboys, what do
you see as the most important role in helping the
(03:06):
team secure uh, the PBR team's championship.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Yeah, I think you know, it's not just I'm not
just riding for myself anymore. I'm running for a lot
more people, other bo riders that got a family to feed,
h and a great organization. You know, there's just so
much more than just me now. So you know, I
just got to stay doing what I need to be
(03:34):
doing and just bring it every time that I'm not
in my head for the Carolina Cowboys and for myself
in any matter, you know, with at any boyride, you know,
just bringing every time.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Yes, definitely, and the ride the docuseries on Prime Video
showcase a bit about your journey what was it like
having that level of public exposure are so to speak?
And how do you feel that it impacted fan perception
of you and the sport of bull riding.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Yeah, I think it.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Definitely helped the sport of bull riding. You know a
lot of people don't know are living you know, uh,
and you know, we show up every weekend and fly
to these cities and pay for our own hotels and
our flights and everything, and we don't make no money
unless we do good, you know. And so the teams,
(04:31):
it was kind of a I mean, they did that
the first season of the team, so it was kind
of new for everybody. But I think it just kind
of showed, you know, all these bull riders true and
the stuff we have to overcome on the daily to
(04:52):
make a living and provide for our families.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Definitely being one of the most active writers in PBR.
How do you find balance in the physical and mental
demands of competition?
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Yeah, you know, that's definitely tough. Definitely. You know, when
you're younger, you know, you're like older briers, like one
another's four and all that. And now I'm kind of
like in the middle of my career in twenty six
and I'm definitely feeling a little older every day. And
you know, you it's crazy how your body works now,
(05:30):
Like is this a young man's or news got to
stay young when you know, just stay driven and uh,
you know, getting on bulls like I'm kind of a
one of the bigger, stouter bull riders on tour and
I'm so I got to really stay up on my
flexibility and kind of keep my weight where I need
it and uh, but I think it's just all all
(05:55):
part of the job. You know, everybody has to overcome obstacles.
And you know, I love this sport and you know,
sometimes it could be a good weekend and you not
walk out with any bumps or bruises, and then some
of you know, the bulls get the best of you.
It says, it just depens.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
Gotcha. Now, as you're out here in Atlanta the event
July twenty sixth of the twenty seventh, are there any
are there any meals? Are there any places that you
guys are going to make sure that you stop in
any of your favorite foods or anything that you guys
are going to make sure that you have while you're
here in the city.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Oh yeah, for sure. I have this. It's right by
the We kind of stay right there by the arena,
and there's like a I.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Don't know if it's the seafood place, but to have
like this seafood online and it's the best thing I
need normally go Last year, I think I went ate
every meal there.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
I got the same thing.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
We got some good food down here, Dylan, you already
know that. Oh yeah, I love it. Oh wow, Danlan,
thank you so much for coming through. Let everyone know
if they want to follow you on social media, if
they want to find out more about your journey, where
do they need to go? Where do they need to follow?
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Oh yeah, you can just follow me on Dan on
swearing and on Instagram and Facebook. That's pretty much the
only two platforms I'm on. Follow the Carolina Cowboys, n
They're always posting cool stuff. We went to Australia a
couple of weeks ago. It's just it's a great time
(07:36):
out there on the board and trail and make sure
y'all are there in Atlanta. I used to live in Cordial,
Georgia for a little while, so I'm kind of like,
so I got southern roots.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
I'd say, awesome, awesome, songs. Thank you so much, Dylan,
and much more. She says, I know that you guys
are gonna go ahead and come out here and collect
the title. We're putting that out there. We know it,
we see it, we're claiming that. And I definitely want
to say thank you to each and every one of
you guys for supporting the movement, which is the ash
(08:10):
Settu movement. Keep in mind, anyone to tell you that
you can't do what you want to do, you look
them square in the face. You tell them, don't believe me.
Just watch watch what I do. Watch me make it happen,
Watch me make history. That's what we're doing this for
the history books. Social media is nice, but real life
is so much better. Until next time, you guys,
