(00:15):
Hey, everybody, and welcome toThe Bachelor Greatest Seasons Ever plus Labor of
Love rap up him maybe here asalways with the lovely Haley Strong Haley.
We need a better title. Whatare we at this point? I don't
know, Like I feel like we'vegot through so many transitions in the last
like six months, five months.Even we were the Bachelor wrap Up,
(00:39):
then we were the Bachelor Presents Listento your Heart wrap up. Then we
were just the Labor of Love wrapup. And now we are the Bachelor
Greatest Seasons of All Time and Laborof Love wrap up. So that's a
lot. We're really we're happing upeverything we are watching at this point in
time. That's somewhat related. Yeah, we're having a good time. I'm
(01:00):
actually looking forward to seeing some ofthese old seasons. I had a good
time watching watching the episode last night. One thing that was very noticeable I
think was going to continue to benoticeable as we go through the rest of
the seasons we're going to see andsomething that has been a very relevant topic
(01:25):
in the sphere lately, and thatis how white the Bachelor is and how
few black people and people of colorare on the franchise, especially in some
of these older seasons. So thereis a new campaign and we believe it's
run by Brett Vergara on Twitter atBrett s Vergara. It's called the Bachelor
(01:49):
Diversity Campaign and what they're trying todo is get a black lead for the
Bachelor, something we have been sayingforever. Well, yeah, we couldn't
been saying more. We could havebeen more vocal about it. And this
is the campaign behind it, andit's awesome. It's getting a lot of
coverage, it's getting alums of thefranchise um supporting it, signing it.
(02:13):
We've signed it. Um. It'son Instagram probably on Twitter as well at
Batch Diversity. Um is that compto follow? So? So yeah,
part of their petition petition, wowis that a weird word? Petition?
Um. Part of their petition isa campaign for anti racism in the Bachelor
(02:34):
franchise. So some of the thingsthey want to see and to me reading
these, they're all completely reasonable asksthat should have happened so long ago.
So cast a Black Bachelor is aseason twenty five lead. Cast season twenty
five season, there has been twentyfive men to lead this franchise. Yeah,
(02:57):
they say one of their tag lines, forty seasons, twenty four guys
to lead the franchise. I guessif we're counting Brad twice cast b IPOC
for at least thirty five percent ofcontestants each season. Hereafter, give equitable
screen time to BIPOC. Contestants activelysupport BOC casts, including providing mental health
(03:21):
resources specifically geared to helping them navigateBachelor Franchise experience, as BIPOC equitably compensate
and hire more BIPOC employees in allparts of production, casting and filming,
publicly pledged to vet contestants more thoroughlyto ensure those who have promoted prejudice for
example, ablism, racism and sexism, white supremacy, religious intolerance, homophobia,
(03:45):
transphobia are not cast. And there'ssome more, some more stipulations,
and I think they're all wonderful. So you can check out their website Batchdiversity
dot com and you can sign theirpetition. Like any said, we have
both signed it. We will continueto ask people to sign it. I
think this is really important. Likeyou said, we have been talking about
(04:06):
this, we should be saying itevery episode. We are going to continue
to talk about it and it's obviouslyvery very important, So please sign the
petition. That would be fantastic. We would love that. Yeah. I
saw a recent post from Charlene onInstagram and she was something she said it
was kind of like how I hadbeen thinking about it was just more like
(04:29):
I think I was just like,oh, just kind of optimistic, like
maybe I'll get to it, andkind of taking their talking points like oh,
it's about ratings, and it's likethat's not acceptable, like lose your
audience if you need to, becausewho gives a shit? Like I remember
them. I remember talking about howRachel's season had the smallest audience out of
(04:51):
you know, however many which andthen they were free to go back to
a black woman and it's like,do you really want those people watching?
Right? And they haven't come outand said anything like about the Hannah Brown
controversy, and so they haven't saidanything about what's going on right now in
(05:11):
the world and respond to this campaign, and Rachel Lindsay has come out and
said I'm going to disassociate and she'shosts of podcast from that's produced by The
Bachelor's Bachlor Having More, the officialpodcast of the show. That she will
not no longer be part of thefranchise or associate herself with it if they
do not make changes. And youknow, we've always celebrated what she that
(05:36):
she's still vocal, but also onthe same side, why is it just
hurt that why does it have tobe Rachel and Rachel by herself talking about
these things. It's so unreal thatwe were sitting here six years into our
podcasts and we're still saying the samethings we've been saying for so long.
(06:00):
And we're going to continue to notbe quiet about it. We're going to
be even louder about it. That'sour promise to you because it's something we
both completely believe in. And I'vereally enjoyed listening to Rachel's recent coverage.
She's been written blog posts and therewas one line that really stood out to
(06:21):
me that it was just like Iloved it about explaining why and she was
talking about this show the greatest seasonsever and was like, make sure you're
tune in on Mondays for all thewhite reasons to watch Batchelor Greatest Seasons ever,
as it will weekly highlight the verything that was wrong with this franchise.
(06:41):
And we saw that sewn season like, yeah, we didn't profile any
black contestant because they didn't make itfar enough to even you know, be
remembered on the show. So youknow, they made some progress with casting
in recent years. And then whatRachel has brought up is you can't use
the excuse of no one's made itfar enough to be memorable, because we
have had condessance make it far enoughand have been memorable. And he made
(07:05):
it to like week four and theyright, so that wasn't even ext We
have so many wonderful black men thatcan be chosen as the lead. Um
let's even look at last season. We were both so disappointed that Mike Johnson
was not chosen as Bachelor and saidPeter was and look how that turned out,
(07:30):
right, it's just like the worst. Yeah, uh, nobody was
clamoring for him. He disappointing thatannouncement, and we had a ton of
movement behind people supporting Mike, wantingto see him. And then when he
was on Bachelor in Paradise, hewas hardly shown as well. And so
then we and we recently had listento your Heart, there was a black
contestant on their first night. Wenever heard her sing, we barely learned
(07:55):
her name, we didn't know anythingabout why she was there. Um So,
just in how they represent them oncethey are cast, it's just so
unfair. M We agree. Andeven there was this post from Calvin Gidici
last night who or from two daysago, and she obviously spoiler alert one
(08:18):
Shan season, so she said tomorrowor season of The Bachelor ree airs in
a condensed three hour episode. WhenI was originally cast, I was very
flattered, but somewhat grounded by thefact that I would be one of the
faces that represented people of color.I knew that one of the reasons I
was probably chosen was because I wasFilipino. I counted myself out to be
his fiance because of what I assumedSean liked. I thought I was there
(08:41):
just to check a box, butI ended up with so much more.
So she said some more about that, But even Catherine knew back then.
She looked around at who else wasthere, and she was like, I
am checking a box here. Youmight not even want me here, right,
Yeah, And that's a feeling thata lot of um Our contestants of
(09:07):
color have said throughout the years. That they stood there and looked around and
went, Okay, I get what'sgoing on here. Yeah. And another
thing Rachel has brought up is asbeing important that she's been asking for is
that the leads and find people whoare open to dating people of other races,
(09:28):
because some of these people are countedout just depending on who they cast
anyway, Like, if that's somethingthat they haven't dated outside their race before,
they're not open to that. Um, then how are those people going
to advance? You know? Yeah? Yeah so um. And then it's
interesting to see like Hannah Brown beingchosen as the bachelorette. She placed six,
(09:54):
I think, and we had Tasiain third place. So they're kind
of like conveniently making you know, choices to benefit you know, for their
reasons and not making this a priority. Or we would have loved to see
Eric as a bachelor. Um,and we got Ari right that who came
right? Yeah, we got Ari. We I think Eric would have been
(10:16):
a fantastic lead. And obviously withRachel's season, there was a lot of
there was more black people and morepeople of color than on any other season.
Um. We've talked about We've gotour first season that we covered talked
about Mark well and we got crystalsinstead. Look back at us. Oh
(10:37):
my gosh, gosh, we reallyhave been at this for a long time,
haven't we. Amy? Yeah?Um yeah, so please please please
please sign this petition. You canfind it batch diversity dot com. Um,
I've retweeted it. I think Amy'salso retweeted it. If you were
in the Rob has a Podcast patrongroup, you can I put a post
(11:01):
in there about signing it too,So uhat diversity dot com please sign up?
That would be great. Let's getthis going. Let's let's see a
black Lea for season twenty five.I think this is a good opportunity.
We can see this if Claire's seasongets delayed. Um, we have a
lot of men we could choose from. Yeah. Do you think they would
(11:22):
almost be filming simultaneously. I haveseen that rumor that they have to pick
from not from Claire's season because ofjust being delayed. Um, and people
are bringing up Mike's name again.Yeah, bring up the Mike's name.
Mike would be so fantastic. Iagree. All right, So we are
(11:45):
going to cover in the show theBachelor, Greatest of all Bachelor, Greatest
of all time, seasons, greatestgreatest seasons of all time something like that.
They need a better title. Yeah, and we're also gonna be still
keeping up with Labor of Love, but we're going to reap all into this
podcast. So h yeah. Lastweek, I don't know if you listened
to the episode of Media Angela. After like twenty five minutes, I was
(12:09):
like, Oh, Mike, whatcan we what does he think of it?
We just call on Mike Bloom whenwe're you know, we get to
half hour mark and we're like, okay, what else can we say?
Mike, go laugh on it fora bit. We're done. Did you
know Sean season was going to bethe first one they showed. No,
I think it was recently announced.I saw an ad where they're like,
(12:31):
you asked for it. I'm like, I didn't see a pole go out.
I don't know if they want to. Maybe they just want to start
on a high note. And thefact that it was a successful season,
that's what I'm thinking. I wouldI would agree that's why they started there.
Um, and you're really brought backhow much I love this season.
I think Sean was a great Bachelorfor the fact that he was earnest and
(12:54):
he was there for love and hereally wanted that. He took the process
very seriously, but he had alot of fun along the way. He
was fun and funny and bright andwarm, and he really cared about the
women who were there and internally reallycared about him. I thought his cast
of women was really fantastic. It'sactually this season I still follow the most
(13:18):
people from on Instagram, Like Iwanted to keep up with the people from
his season, which is interesting becauseit was kind of like early social media.
Yeah, it was, and Ifeel like I've been like so the
three people I still follower Catherine,Leslie, and Sarah, all three of
which were highlighted in this season, which was which were in this episode,
(13:41):
which was cool. I just yeah, it was a great cast of women.
They all seemed to be to likeeach other. I forgot Ashley was
on this season, yeah, becauseshe did not get the most put together
edit in her season of Bachelor andParadise, so I kind of forgot that
she was pretty down to earth andcool and had had a pretty interesting backstory.
(14:05):
So that was that was interesting tosee. Yeah. One thing I
remember about um his season was justkind of it was surprising that Catherine was
kind of not who I thought hewould end up with. And I think
back then it was the edit wasmore unpredictable too, like you wouldn't always
(14:26):
see the winner be featured as much. But I think that was also how
it was sort of true to thatthat particular season was that he didn't have
a front runner right away, butI think a lot of people thought it
would be Desrate or Ashley Um andthen also Unda was Yeah, Lindsay was
(14:48):
the second and she had one ofthose we like the most wacky interns.
You thought she'd be eliminated the firstnight. So it kind of brought back
those memories of like, yeah,he had a really good cast and a
lot of great contenders, and soit was one of those like unpredictable,
exciting endings that I didn't know whereit was going to go. I really
(15:09):
had no idea who was going topick Catherine, like until Lindsay stepped out
of the limou honestly, like itwas that that was probably one of the
last seasons where we really didn't haveany idea what was going to go on.
M Yeah, so that's always fun, but we were happy with any
with like I feel like, Ifeel like I really really liked Catherine,
(15:30):
so I wanted him to pick her, but I liked Lindsay too, And
watching this episode, I really likedLindsay. She was a lot of fun.
She was really bubbly and bright, but like in a really nice way.
She didn't seem to get involved inany of the drama in the house.
And you know, there were somany scenes where Tiera was like doing
something and you just saw Catherine inthe background being like, what is going
(15:52):
on here? Right? And Iwas bummed that we did not get a
reunion with Tierra, Like she seemsto have totally separate herself. But I
think it would have been a goodchance for characters like that to come back
on laugh at themselves or you know, explain themselves or something. It would
have just been fun to see whereshe's at. Yeah, I'm super disappointed
(16:14):
we didn't see her, you know, and hey, get it, she
like you said, this wasn't likethe heyday of Bachelor's social media, But
I'm there were some I remember tweetingabout this season. Um, and I
feel like Tierra probably didn't get alot of love that season, And why
would you really want to come backand talk to talk about it. I
(16:36):
feel like I would maybe just comeback just to be like hey, like
l I laugh about it. Now. I still have Parkle Look how great.
Yeah, I've got this eyebrow linecoming out eyebrow products or something like.
She could only market this because Ithink, like, um, it
just is more like fun now, like to look back at her antics,
(16:56):
whereas like back then, I thinkpeople took it early serious, like this
girl is the villain, like she'snot there for Sean. Yeah, like
remember when like that was the villainin the season and not racist Lee who
was literally racist, Oh my gosh. Yeah, which reminds me. That's
another point that Rachel has brought upthat her like the show did not say
(17:18):
anything about Lee, they made hertalk about it, and even on Peter's
Women tell Out, they made Rachelcome in and read these horrible comments that
the women on Peter's casts were getting. And it's like, Okay, you
can't just have Rachel as disappointed, like I'm going to come in and talk
about racism, you know, likeenough is enough with like just relying on
her to do it, like takeyour own stand on it. So yeah,
(17:42):
and why cast someone like that,Like that was horrible and they probably
could have easily found out, ormaybe they knew and they still were like,
oh this drama, that's even worse. Like I really hope that's not
the case, right, but yeah, right, but yeah, Tiera,
that was fun. That feels likesome really low stakes drama. Yeah,
(18:03):
so what do you think her issuewas, Like, were any of those
injuries or legit or was this justlike her way of getting attention. I
don't know, I really, Ireally don't know. I can imagine you'd
get hypothermia from jumping in the lake. Um, I've fallen down the stairs
at time or two, right,But then it was like all of a
sudden, she's like, no,I don't need to get the next ray.
(18:25):
Do you say she was a prototypefor Kelsey Chris Soul season. It's
very similar looking back, like shedidn't have the like sad backstory, but
it's a similar She didn't her husbanddied. No I mean didn't. Oh
yeah, yeah, exactly right rightright? Oh my god, remember how
awful it was when everyone tried tosay that Kelsey killed her husband. How
(18:49):
I haven't seen Tiger King, Butis that like a similar interesting saying about
that. It's the only headline I'veseen about that um to Love is blind
and too hot to handle for myNetflix singes that we did. Um that's
another one. Who I could seeKelsey not returning, but there's no way
(19:10):
that Crystal season has one of thebest ever. So yeah, So I
saw that Caitlin's season is airing nextweek, so I can only assume that
they're just going to hop, skipand jump right on over Chris's kits.
And then Benz is next, andthey haven't announced the others, and I
can only assume that they're because wetalked to Dez tonight. We're not seeing
(19:33):
the season either, right. Yeah, they really were just like, oh
yeah, you guys are happy,But they never trot them out as like
a big success stor. I don'tthink they were that excited about that season.
I thought it was interesting at thebeginning of when the show started,
like this clip show, they wereshowing like clips from Colton season. They're
showing clips that weren't in any ofthese other previews. It's like, are
(19:53):
they trying to make us like thinkthat they're going to show these seasons like
they showed um Rachel season and Isaw something from Reality Steve that he said
that hers is not going to beone of the ones. Oh really Yeah,
so I hope they changed their minds. Yeah. Very disappointing that it
was one of our favorite seasons, right right. So, Um, I
(20:15):
can't imagine they would show Colton seasonlike it was so recent. Oh please
don't make me yeah. Um.So I don't know if they're just trying
to keep like just have an excitingpromo that just shows like all these different
seasons they brought up. They showedAlex Michelle, Like, I just can't
think that they would show his seasonas one of the greatest ever. So
(20:37):
maybe it's just that they're weaving inthese little updates because we did talk to
Peter, Um we did you know, hear from Desiree. So maybe that's
how they're like accounting for it,like yeah, we're like going back and
checking in on this and checking inon this. But I can't imagine that,
um, they would pick that season. Um. One thing that starts
(20:57):
to me, I know I'm jumpingaround, but you know how there was
all that controversy about Ben Higgins sayingI Love you to two women, but
then Sean Lowe when he was breakingup. Yes, I love you too,
Lindsay, Yeah, that's a that'sthat's a tough that's a toughie.
Uh. There's no reason already brokeup with their Yeah, but that didn't
(21:18):
get any controversy that I recall soum, and it reminded me of one
of my favorite bachelor moves of alltime. And I've loved Lindsay for this
for a long time, and that'sonce you get broken up with, just
take your shoes off, you're done. Claire did that too, right,
Um, I don't remember. Ithink she did. I think she was
(21:41):
holding her shoes and like pointing outa like I would not want my children
to have a father like you.So do you think they'll show one Pablo
season they have to write because ofClaire? I would think, because they
did say, like you know what, I wonder if they're grouping these because
when they did the promos and itwas like the ones you love, the
(22:02):
ones you love to hate, orthe ones you hate or something like that,
So maybe they'll batch together on Pablo, Jake, Velca, Brad or
something like that. I don't thinkthere's any bachelors that are like a love
to hate Ctuory, so thanks,so they're a lot more successful. And
then I could see like them notdoing Ashley's and JP's season, but just
(22:25):
like checking in with them on anotherepisode, like let's check in with a
happy couple or something. I wouldlove to see there because I didn't watch
that season, so I would loveto see it. Yeah, that would
be good. It looks like we'regoing at Ali's season for sure, and
Joejoe, so they can only showso much, but really interesting to see.
I'm really excited for Caitlin's next week. I don't think they're showing Nick's.
(22:49):
I think they're gonna bring Nick onto talk about Oh dang, I
would like to see next too.Yeah, talk about Caitlin so um yeah,
oh let's see who what other characters? Oh? I also saw something
else from reality Steve that because nowlike there's no spoilers right now, so
I feel like I can like safelylike go to his page. Um,
(23:11):
and he had said that Chris Harrisonand Ashley Frazier dated for a little bit
and then he also dated Selma onthe season, who didn't show at all.
But I thought it was interesting thatwhen they showed Ashley, like she
was the only one that they didn'tlike, say, what are you up
to now, like, and she'smarried and has kids. But with everybody
else that they brought in, itwas like, oh, like, let
(23:32):
me meet the boyfriend the husband. So yeah, I change surprised from that
too. And I don't know ifI'm just reading into it because now I
know that they dated, but likethey seemed extra flirty on camera. Interesting,
I don't know, good to seeyou again. Yeah, well um
oh, and I also found outthat apparently reality Steve is dating kat Done
(23:52):
from Big Brother right now. Yeah, that's interesting, definitely. Yeah,
she was on the same season asa former guest and our friend Kemmy.
So now we are like four degreesof separation from a reality seat. I
guess so we've always wanted, rightas long as we don't get the spoilers.
(24:15):
Yeah, so that's interesting. That'sall the updates I have from him.
Let's see, so we saw checkedout with Ashily. I don't think
they showed as much as they couldhave from her. They kind of skipped
around, like her getting eliminated, which I think she was really heartbroken about
that, and they kind of wentfrom like I don't know, what did
you think about how they structured andshow the season. I was expecting it
(24:37):
to be a little more like chronological. Yeah, a little more chronological.
Chris Harrison want to introduce each onefrom his home studio. Is a lot
like Jeff Probes in his garage kindof thing. Yeah, it's like I'm
broadcasting here. Look at my sonbehind the camera. Yeah, the sun
behind the camera one time. Funnyfortieth time. I was like, okay,
Chris, we got it right, right. Um yeah, I kind
(25:00):
of wish it was a little morechronological. I get why they did more
like highlighting of people than um reallyjust kind of going along with the story.
Um. I thought it was interestingthat they talked about Sarah but didn't
really show her elimination, which Iremember pretty vividly because he like pulled her
aside before before the actual rose ceremonyto say like, hey, I have
(25:26):
a lot of respect for you,so I'd rather do this in private.
Um M, I don't know.Interesting, but I love Sarah, so
I was excited to see her.Yeah. Yeah, Instead of like showing
more of a Leslie's story with him, I was just like, let's actually
watch this uncomfortable Guinness World Record kiss. We literally watched the whole three day
(25:48):
yeah. Um. So obviously thiswas Ethan's introduction to that. At the
beginning he was like, no,this is so cool, like you get
to be in the Guinness World Bookof Records as okay, and then by
like minute one and a half hewas like, I can't watch this anymore.
This is so brutal. I waslike, yeah, imagine living it
well and then didn't it What doesCarly and Evan do? Didn't they try
(26:11):
to like they had kiss? Okay? Yeah, so that was worse because
we got to see like try yeahum yeah. So it was interesting how
they showed and then like the tierthing, they're like, we're gonna show
this and then this in the entiretykind of let people judge for themselves.
Um. But then they kind oflike set it up as if like we
(26:34):
don't know who the winner is,like which wins? So weird because especially
in the some of the shots youcould see like the family photo of like
Sean and Catherine with Chris Harrison inthe background right, and like the most
romantic proposal. I feel like theyshowed it before so um. But then
again they were like, who isPeter webberd eating now? Like hell for
(26:56):
the first time. I mean,I guess he could have annoyed him and
he could have shown like brought outsomebody totally different. That would have been
more exciting. But yeah, yeah, anybody else that like stood out at
any other moments like the Desire familyvisit that that like I forgot how bad
(27:18):
that was. Yeah, I reallyforgot how how bad that was. And
he handled it really well. Yeah, I think like that was the deciding
factor, Like she was really thefront runner at that point, seemed like
so I remember just thinking, likethey are so similar, like it just
makes sense. They looked like hetogether. Um, and yeah that was
very awkward, but it all workedout for the best for them. So
(27:41):
yeah, um, I think whoelse and that still holds up I think
as the most awkward family visit themost memorable for being so bad. Yeah,
we saw a lot of kids thisepisode two, and it did nothing
for my uter shutting down in perpetuity. Um, there was. They were
(28:06):
just just a lot of screaming andrunning. Yeah. Not too exciting to
sit and talk to Chris Harrison forthem. No, But I will say
Sean and Catherine's oldest son. Samuelis the cutest kid I have ever seen.
Oh my gosh. He was soadorable. And the way he put
the little headphone and said hi misterChris. I know that was the only
(28:30):
time I was like, Okay, well that's not that bad. Yeah,
And then when he ran away toget a car, I was like,
Okay, I see it. Isee what's going on. Yeah. I
loved when Chris was like, hey, Samuel, Hey, Mia, where's
your I was like, oh no, It's like they dubbed in the word
Isaiah. Later. I can neverremember Isaiah. Yeah, it's funny for
(28:56):
metal child. Yeah, definitely.UM trying to think, like I guess
on all, I'm happy with howthey did. It could have been a
lot worse. I was worried thatthey wouldn't go and check in with people
and it would just be clips. So I like that we did get to
see people, and I wish wehad seen more, Like I don't think
(29:17):
we saw anything that wasn't shown onthe show. I was there, like
here's from the last footage, likethis happened, or you didn't see this
moment with Sean and Catherine or somethinglike that. Or like replayed the bloopers
from that season, right, Yeah, but I was kind of expecting it
to be a little more like yeah, sequential and like, well, at
this point, Sean was really liketorn between this. I thought there may
(29:37):
be more of that narration, butthey just kind of let the clips speak
for themselves and then Chris would fillin the gaps, like after Leslie and
Pierre were eliminated, then it wasyou know, he had this connection with
Desiree and we love to watch that. And I think it's fine with that.
Um, yeah, I don't.I don't really know how they could
(29:57):
make it better chronologically, So I'mfine with them kind of highlighting stories.
M Yeah. So I think it'llbe interesting with Caitlin's to see you when
Nick arrives, and I think they'llshow like they'll bring in Ben, they'll
meet his fiancee, they'll bring inobviously Jared and Ashley. You know,
oh my god, I didn't eventhink of that. Yeah, do you
(30:21):
think we'll we'll talk to Sean. That's interesting, Like I'm sure they asked
him that. I could see himsaying no, you know, like yeah,
I wanna because then they'll have obviouslyCaitlin and Jason on m HM.
So yeah, it'd be interesting.Um, should we switch over to Labor
of Love? Or we have questionsfor this episode? First? Yeah,
(30:45):
we have a few questions. Muchthank you to Justin Feinberg, who once
again did my job by putting thepost of the questions in the Rob has
a podcast speaking group, so obviouslyyou can ask questions there where you can
send us an email up actually reapoft gmail dot com. Let us know
your thoughts about the seasons in threehours, like if you've seen in the
season before, like if any ofthis isn't surprise to you anything like that.
(31:08):
It was. It was kind offun. I did appreciate that they
left it hanging who he had picked. He kind of kind of kept a
secret, like so Ethan didn't knowwho won. So that was yeah,
so that was kind of fun.At least I can keep the final two
a little more of a mystery forsome of them. And let's see.
(31:33):
Justin Feinberg asked, did Chris Harrison'sson really need to hear his father say
the words twerk and selfie? Howmuch do you think Young Josh Harrison silently
cringed while hearing his father say thosewords. I feel like it was.
I feel like he cringed a lotbecause like, Josh is even too young
for those words, right, Anddo we really need to like the year
(31:55):
was twenty thirteen, Twerk and Selfieentered the dictionary. People were excited about.
Man, it's like it wasn't thatlong ago. It's very very Jeff
propsty. But I will say Ido remember watching this season in my dorm
room in my final year of university, so that I felt really nice.
I don't know, it did makeme feel like, yeah, yeah,
(32:16):
I remember watching um Ben the firstBen his season, like in my dorm
room with like I was in rand watching it with my like the girls
in my building, and I hadan all girl dorm, so we would
all go to the lounge and watchit and I had a great time.
(32:37):
But those are just some old ladymems. Pretty sure, Um, what
was the best the stuffs from justin? What was was the best? Chris
Harrison wore during the Sean and LeslieWorld record on screen kiss date More or
less awkward than a three minute, twenty two second kiss on a first date.
I cannot imagine anything more awkward thanthat. Kiss, and like Chris
(33:00):
Harrison walking around to all of thepeople like asking them about it and then
showing a clip of other people kissingwhile watching the kiss. I don't Yeah,
they had like a split screen, like why do we need to see
like another couple, you know, kissing. So I'm sorry, So I
just had to google this the longestscreen kiss and a TV show. I
(33:22):
said, the longest on screen kiss. Right now, it's three minutes forty
seven seconds. So somebody speeding therecord. It was achieved by David and
Amy Barger on the Valentine's Date episodeof Good Day Tulsa and Tulsa, Oklahoma
on February fourteenth, twenty thirteen. So it was quickly they quickly beat that
(33:42):
record. They probably like we're watchingThe Bachelor and we're like, okay,
let's do this on our morning show. Yeah exactly. Oh my goodness.
So all right, whenever this whenClaire season starts up again, they have
to make three minutes fifty seconds newdate idea, bring back a retro because
if they're filming on like a closedresort or something, they're gonna have to
(34:04):
think of things like this. Ohmy god, no, you don't give
them those ideas. I would loveif they just like did it and close
down Disneyland. Is Disney opening up? I think Florida was opening up.
I don't know if California, whereit's located, you know, Californias has
more stricter measure to some place,I think. Yeah, yeah, so
(34:24):
I would like that too. Therewould be more options, kind of fun.
I'm not even a Disney person.I think that would be a little
fun. Yeah, if they could, it would be cool. I've got
that's in Florida to have like goto the different country. They could travel
and it would be the other one. No, there's just some California adventure.
(34:45):
So it's just stuff, right,I've only been to the one.
Yeah, and I was never likea big Disney person, so I was
like happy to go, but thenhappy to never have to go again,
right, just get the experience.Yeah, Jenna Rodolphski, how do we
feel about the fact that Chris Harrisondated Ashley after the season? Okay,
(35:06):
so she found that out too,That's that's I don't know, it feels
a little weird and crazy. Yeah. Wait, it's Chris Harrison divorced by
that point, so then or atleast thank yeah, that must have been
his divorce here, because it waslike if he did two women from the
season, and I think there arerumors about him with Emily as well,
but I don't know. And Andyhmm, yeah, wow, okay,
(35:29):
Chris Harrison, Wow, really gettingaround. I guess like if I yeah,
I don't know. Yes, justmentioned already in the Big Brother group.
But surprise news, regality Steve wasnow being kept done for maybe twenty
one. Please react to this jawdropping plot twist. I was relating together.
I was really hoping you hadn't heardthis yet, this question and be
(35:52):
like are you serious? Right?I know, I don't know how I
stumbled on that. I just happenedto be like, oh, I'm just
curious, like what seasons they're comingup? So I thought if anyone knows,
it would be reality Steve Um.That was just strange. I mean,
I guess they're in the same area. He has a podcast, but
you know, quarantine makes a doweird things. I guess, so yeah.
(36:15):
So, and she's got as youngas I thought she was. Right,
she's thirty, so I thought shewas like twenty four dating this kind
of like older guy who was likepopular in reality TV, but she is
a little older. Yeah. Ishe an improvement from Nick from her season?
Probably? Yeah? He has youknow, he's self employed and has
(36:37):
made this into a career. Yeah. Yeah. But then it's rumored that
Big Brother is All Stars this timearound, and so I could see her
being someone that would be back inthe house. Do you think so?
I don't know if they would lastafter that? Yeah, yessum, Emily
(36:58):
huck Given that this is the onlyback season to have a successful final couple,
where does this season rank for you? Do you prefer the sweeping romantic
search that ends in love or theformat breaking bachelors we have now? Sean's
is hands down one of my favorites, and watching it again made me mismade
me nostalgic for the traditional bachelor journey. So I'm wondering if you felt the
same way now that Ari, Coltonand Peter have taken the show's format a
(37:19):
bit off the rails. So Idefinitely think it was exciting in the first
couple of seasons that we were gettingsome off the format kind of things.
But I really I really loved, sorry, I really loved watching Sean season
and it did have that really likewonderful romance that I think is the reason
(37:43):
you and I fell in love withthe show to begin with. We were
soccers. We love that kind ofstuff. I like Sean as a lead.
He's done a he's done a he'sdone a good job, like remaining
kind of cool and down to earth, and in the stretch since then,
him being with Catherine still I thinkis obviously like a benefit to that.
(38:06):
I really like Catherine. I thinkshe's a wonderful pick. It just it
felt warm watching this, and itmade me happy and I smiled because I'm
a loser, and I just Ithink I'm ready for some some people who
are genuinely serious about about finding amatch, right, which is why we
(38:28):
were excited about Claire. I thinkPeter's season really put me over the edge
where I'm like, no more ofthis, Like we need a break from
this, Like that wasn't even youcouldn't even follow it, like you couldn't
we couldn't recap it because it wasjust like where what even happened? Like
what's going on with Mattie? Andnow I feels so pointless. Yeah,
because because he's with Kelly, whohe obviously liked, and I feel like
(38:51):
there was some sort of manipulation goingon behind the scenes. Um, you
know, it was interesting how shesaid last night's episode, like, oh,
it was all my fault because likeI would talk about my shoes and
he wanted to talk about deeper stuff. Like yeah, I don't believe that
was the reason he's having her home, because she on some other podcast I
saw her quoted as saying like shewould get locked in the closet. I
(39:12):
mean like she was using like figurativelanguage there by like she would be kept
away from going to talk to himkind of thing. Like and that's something
that producers have a hand in.They can't they keep you in your itms
for too long and you miss outon talking to him or whatever it may
be. So and if yeah, and it feels a little pointless because he
met her before, right, Yeah, it's like why do we watch this?
(39:34):
So you ended up with a girlyou like, what do you want
for me? Exactly like Chris tryingto be like, oh can we claim
this, Like yeah, why notlike this success story at this point?
Yeah, even like next season, like it didn't work out in the end,
but like following that season, youcould tell like he really loved Vanessa.
They seemed like a really great matchand you know, ultimately they weren't.
(40:00):
But it didn't seem phony or youknow, there weren't any like trickery
going on. You know, there'sa drama early on with someone he had
hooked up with before, but thatwas like in the past, and like
when it came down to the finals, you were we were really invested in.
I know, we were so excitedabout Rachel being announced as a bachelor,
(40:22):
but the one annoying thing was thatthey announced it before, like she
had gotten eliminated because I was reallyrooting for them as well as a couple,
so that was strange. But yeah, I do miss kind of those
seasons where you're like, Okay,I think this person does want to find
love. Um, that's it forthose questions. So, speaking of people
(40:43):
that want to find love, let'sswitch gears and talk about Christie in her
search on Labor of Love. Whatdid you think of this episode this week?
I feel like episodes could almost behalf an hour. Well, you
(41:04):
didn't think the search for Trent's stuffedcat was like riveting, Like must you
know, must include ten minutes ofhim looking for his cat? No,
I guess no, I don't thinkso. And and the date the date,
like the group date felt very bachelorasque and to take a test like
a general knowledge quiz and then hadto go up a bunch against a bunch
(41:25):
of preteens to see who's smarter.Yeah, it seemed weird because there were
no real stakes in it though, because it was like, okay, Marcus
one, he didn't win a dateor anything, right, So then they
did the I like that rapid firequestion Like that seemed like it had more
effect on the guys in the housewhere it was like she had to respond.
(41:45):
Did any answers stick out to youof like who she might be leaning
towards. No, I don't evenremember, like because they went so quick,
I almost didn't have a chance toretain any of what was being Yeah,
the only thing that the guys reallypicked up on was that she named
Pyle twice. And we haven't evenseen her really talk with him, so
(42:07):
I don't know if maybe she isreally interested in him, or if she's
being strategic with her answers to likenot give things away. But it did
cause a little bit of drama. But yeah, the guys are kind of
pretty like calm. They're older guys, Like it's not like a season in
The Bachelor where there's tons of dramaand fighting going on. Like I think
(42:28):
they fought on this episode about likeone guy was talking when another guy was
supposed to be talking, and thatmade Keith really upset. And it makes
sense, like it just seems reallylike there's it's a stretch of trying to
put something on TV to make likethe lad Hour. I agree, yeah,
so yeah, and right after thatthey had like a little uh she
(42:50):
went back to their house to hangout with them. We saw Jason,
who had a rough first episode andbeen kind of was under the radar last
week, came back this week andI thought, was like pretty brutal um,
you know. She he pulled heraside, which she liked, with
some keiche. How often do youeat keish um? You know what Costco
has some frozen keisha. So everyonce in a while it's like I'll get
(43:14):
that, mum, and there's aspot near me that has it. But
it's a little rich for me,Like it's not like everyday thing, but
I've had it fairly regularly, maybelike once every couple of months or something.
About you. Keish kind of freaksme out. Oh really, I
don't know why. Um, someegg things, I I'm I'm weird with
(43:36):
Like I don't like looking at doubledeggs. I don't like looking at hard
boiled eggs. I'll eat an omeletand so I don't know why keish is
any different than an omelet. ButI don't know it's it just weirds me
out a bit. Ethan loves kiche, so he has when he can right,
um, and my mom and mygrandmother will often um get me to
make him broccolan shutter Keith because she'slike, I got all the supply for
you to make Ethan keisha has agreat, wonderful I can't wait. Um.
(44:00):
I thought it was like an interestingfood to be drawn in with.
Somebody else said like, I thinkI would use a glass of line said
it keish, but you know,to each other out, Yeah, I've
never seen it before. I don'tthink so maybe that was really exciting.
I'm surprised you could pronounce keisha honestly. So then they got downstairs and like
(44:21):
play a drinking game. I thinkthis is not great for Jason's like luck
trying to get him to seem likenot an insane person, right, Like,
wasn't it like, oh, Iwas just nervous the first night small
town, so I just drank toomuch. But now it's like she was
like, oh, so you reallywant your first kiss to be at the
drinking game, and he got reallyupset that she asked her a kiss on
(44:42):
the cheek, which is kind ofthe kiss of death. Thought the show.
I thought, I thought he reactedpretty grossly, honestly, like he
seemed like pretty mad, you know. I guess it was in the confessional.
It's like, no, that wason the mouth or on the chick,
and that that's the only place toall except kiss up. That was
Yeah, that was horrifying. Like, um, I feel like she probably
(45:05):
has like a pretty good judge ofcharacter because she did send him home at
the end of the episode. Yeah, she sent everyone that she called back
home, which that surprised me.I thought somebody would get to stay because
that's kind of in the pattern. It's like fifty percent stay, fifty percent
go home kind of thing. Butyeah, she's doing it in her own
way. And then she had twoUM dates one on one dates Stuart and
(45:31):
Walker, so Stewart just had thedate where he we liked these dates on
The Bachelor, cooking at the house, not going. I love this date.
I thought it was a perfect thing. Um. I do kind of
like how she relates a lot ofthings, being like, hey, when
we're parents, like we're not gonnabe able to go out a law,
(45:52):
so we do have to kind ofmake do with what we have here,
and like in making do with whatthey had, there was like a beautiful
house, so or all do thatanytime? Walk me in there? Yea.
Um, but I love the relaxedeight casual a cloute. Yeah,
let's just like have dinner, let'scook together. I love that. I
think that it's a quartet in thebackyard, just like yeah, I was
(46:14):
having your parent, right, I'vehad a few quartets. And then it
kind of led to the ability tohave a little bit of drama having the
guys from next door come and likecrash the date. I thought it was
pretty rude and if I were ifI were Chrissy, I probably would have
sent Trent home immediately after that becausea big part of the episode Amy Trent
(46:37):
couldn't find snookers. Sorry. Thatwas a huge part of the episode and
you know, we were never evenintroduced to Snoots before this, So yeah,
Snoots is Trent's stuffed cat. Now, I a twenty eight year old
woman, cannot judge because I havea stuffed slough. I sleep with it
(47:00):
everything. I have a lot ofstuffed animals. I love stuffed animals.
I like soft things and I likecushy things, so I love them.
Um, So I cannot judge, but Amy you absolutely can. Well,
I mean, would you go andinterrupt someone's date to be like, did
you take my sloth? I don'tthink so taking my sloth a lot of
(47:24):
the times if I can't find them, Like he's just like slightly under a
blanket. I'm like where where whereare? That's what I like when I
like can't find my eyemask because likeI have to sleep with something over my
eyes. Where is my eyemask? You took my eyemask? Like I think
(47:45):
it's just slightly more under your pillow, just under the covers somewhere. Wake
up in the middle of night, like where is this? Like you're a
plug and it's like like find itunder me the next day. Well,
I hate that that one grows.Yeah, And I mean I was glad
to see nothing like malicious really happenedwith Smooth. He was like down in
the like they showed a shot ofwhere he ended up, like on top
(48:07):
of like the Age of Fatherhood orwhatever. But I guess they think the
date was pretty not okay. Ithink that's why they had to show it,
because it was like, okay, they interrupted the uh date? But
really all she didn't get so madabout it. But I liked Stuart's reaction,
so it gave us a chance tosee his reaction where he was like,
(48:28):
you know, I could like blowup at them, or I could
just be like, you know whatthey kind of told on themselves, like
this is how they act, andyou know, I'm just gonna let it
roll off my back. So Iliked his reaction there, and I just
liked them as a couple. Ithink they looked really cute together. Yeah,
a lot of nervous energy. It'slike very down to earth and like
seems very grounded, which I thinkis nice. I find her very grounded
(48:51):
as well, So I like Ilike their even energy. Yeah, I
think did she tell him about beingdivorced and you know that really well?
Um? And then the next dayI was surprised it was with Walker Walker,
I hardly know her. Yeah, and he is the funeral director,
but apparently he has all these sidebusinesses as well. He travels a lot
(49:15):
for work, um and stuff.I don't know he makes a debit cards.
I don't know why you would needto have solid called debit card,
like I would worry about losing that, um. But so she was like
you could tell she was not comfortablewith the funeral director thing like do I
want to raise kids in that? But also she didn't like that he traveled
(49:37):
that much. So it just didn'tseem compatible lifestyle wise. Yeah, And
I think I think that was fairand honest, and I UM, I
appreciate that Christie is honest with us, telling us like I just really weirded
out by the funeral director thing like, yeah, I like being able to
have that context. Um. Idon't think they had a lot of chemistry
(49:58):
in the dates, so I don'tthink. I don't think I would have
been surprised to see him eliminated rightafter that date. But I like that
she gave us some contacts as towhy it's interesting to her dates. It
doesn't seem like produced like the Bachelorwhere it's like I couldn't see someone like
Walker even getting a one on onedate on the Bachelor. It'd be like,
Okay, I can kind of rulehim out. It seems like they
(50:21):
would pick kind of more the frontrunners or something, or I thought maybe
she would eliminate him on the datebecause I was like, you haven't seen
him at all. And with Jasonshe kind of gauged at their lifestyles wouldn't
match either. He didn't want tolive in a city. She lives in
Chicago and wants to stay there,it seems like, so it seemed like
with Walker she could have kind ofdone the same thing, like just had
(50:43):
a few side conversations with him andmaybe given the date to you know,
seems like she's really into Alan, like why hasn't he gotten like when she
want him for the overnight date orKyle she answered twice about so maybe she's
getting more dates than is typical andso she's saving them for later on or
always feel already feel sure about him. But it's just kind of interesting.
I was like, I would nothave picked him out to get one of
(51:05):
these dates to begin with. Iwas going a good date overnight Heibby Islands.
Yeah, it was cute and funand you know, we love a
travel day. Um. And sothen we have who she eliminates. They
all get chosen for we need topack, and she eliminates all of them.
She calls back Walker, Angelo andJason, and they all had kind
of different type of reactions too.Can eliminate. I thought, Angelo's well,
(51:30):
who was worse? Angelo or Jason? Angelo said she was a four
at best? And I date,God, how rude are you? Like,
Oh, I'm so glad to seehim gone like through that. Yeah,
it's just so gross and rude, like we don't need you. It
makes it like it makes him lookso much worse. Like Chrissy looks like,
you know, shining coming out ofthat right, and that she has
(51:51):
a great instinct. And then Jason, like he had kind words at first,
but then I was like when heleft, he was like, all
right, Carolina, I'm coming home. And then he peed on the house,
so that was not great either. And she saw that and she was
like, well, I made theright decision. And then we see her
say goodbye to Walker, and thatwas obviously a lot tougher for her.
(52:13):
She got really emotional and I thoughtthat was almost nice to see because she's
been almost a little robotic to me. Yeah, so it's nice to see
that she does kind of have likesome emotional stakes here. And she said
to us that Walker really feels likethe first guy she's actually breaking up with.
He took it super well, heunderstood. And you know, I
(52:36):
like that too because, like, like you said about her being a little
more straightforward, because you wouldn't reallyhear that on the Bachelor bastarette because it's
like, oh, everybody they're breakingup with, you know, like but
it's like, no, the otherguys like she wasn't really serious about and
just as going through the motions likethey were not serious contenders. But you
know, maybe there was something withWalker that we didn't see beforehand, and
they were forming a connection, andso yeah, I felt like somebody she
(52:58):
was really dating I had to breakup. So yeah, that was interesting.
Still enjoying the show, but Iagree, it's like I wish there
was a little more meat to theepisode. Like I pick up my phone
a lot during the episode. Yeah, and I don't find myself like feeling
the need to rewind if I thinkI've missed something. Right right, Yeah,
(53:20):
and I don't even remember what wasshown like for next week, like
it doesn't like stick with me.No, I really I really can't tell
you either. Yeah, it's funfilling up our Thursday with something kind of
similar and I, you know, listen to you and Angela and Mike talk
about like it. It just doesbring me that reminder of like the shows
we watched FoST reality, like maybewhen we grew up with or you know.
(53:45):
So it's like comforting in that wayfor some reason. It's familiar and
yeah. So and it's funny becausehere both Labor of Love and The Bachelor
on City TV. So a lotof times I'll see Labor of Love commercials
during The Bachelor. Interesting. Yeah, it's like they know their audience as
(54:07):
you, Haley. Yeah, They'relike, Haley, here's what's going on
this week. Enjoy? Right, thanks, City TV. Free. Yeah,
so that's where we're at with ourviewing of these shows and what we're
hoping with changes for the future.Um. Yeah, I'm just really curious
(54:28):
too to hear like when filming mightbegin, like hearing these rumors about Big
Brother but not really knowing when that'sbeginning, but just anxious to get some
new TV back for us. Yeah, I think they're that's our greatest seasons
ever. It was a smart thingto fill in the gap a little bit.
Yeah, I think it's a prettybrilliant way to do this. Honestly,
(54:51):
Um, I'm gonna I'm gonna watchevery episode. I mean, I'm
like obviously gonna watch every episode,But like I I do think it's a
good way to fill Mondays three hours. Yes, of course it's so long
for me. We did watch thethird hour earlier this evening after watching the
first two hours last night. Butyeah, yeah, it seems like it
(55:14):
would it went like two hours andthen they kind of brought in the Peter
thing or so. It seems likemaybe they devote two and a half hours
to that show and then like anhalf hour to some other type of content
to fill in the gap of thatand the seasons that they're not covering.
But yeah, I'm interested here, like if Ethan continues to like it,
(55:34):
because I think it could help peoplethat haven't watched it but just kind of
want a little context, like oh, I've seen this person referenced before and
people refer to them or their season, especially with you know, if Paradise
comes back. Yeah, familiar withsome of these people and past seasons.
And I'm going to text Dub tooto see if he's watching these Oh yeah,
should because he was not into watchingListen to Your Heart for some reason.
(55:58):
Oh okay, I'll ask about it. We'll see. Yeah. Even
Listen to Your Heart feel so longago? Oh my god, doesn't it
ever? Yeah? Everything feels likeforty five years ago. But weeks are
going by in one second. Iknow it's so strange. I agree,
Like, it does not feel likeit should be June right now. It
feels like you're stuck in March.Ohay's saw happen? Um? So you
(56:22):
have some other podcasts like I juststarted listening to you were on a nap
recently, So don't spoil it forme. I won't, I won't.
Um. So, yeah, Iwas on an episode of Robin and Keep
An Eat a podcast, um andit was the Robin and Keep Our Pointless
episode. So so keep us ledinto my DMS like you know last week
and said, hey, would youand Ethan be interested in being on like
(56:45):
a nap episode? And I waslike yes, of course, like I
was. I made sure it wascool with him. So then I then
I message in later and said, hey, so, like what's the format
because that night in bed we weregoing over, um, what our Newlywood
game? I answer would have beenright because he thought that's what it was.
Yeah, It's tough because Ethan haslike no favorite thing. So I'm
(57:06):
like, what's your favorite movie? He's like, oh, I don't know,
Like what's your favorite food? LikeI can't, I can't pick one
anyway, So I messaged Kiva andhe's like, yeah, have you heard
Like I don't know if you've heardof it, but it's like this British
game show Pointless, Like it's reallyinteresting. And I was like, a
Kiva, I love Pointless. Ilove it Like I genuinely watched it for
(57:30):
four months every single night before bed, like that's what I would fall every
night. I love Pointless. SoI was I would and I would I
watch these episodes being like why wouldI do if I was ever on releeless?
Um? So I was like,I was genuinely so thrilled to be
on this episode. We had areally good time with Shannon and her husband
Peter and Zach and Navi and nbecause I was listening to that um through
(57:57):
a Wheel podcast and I was like, yeah, so upset. I'm like
I want nav to be picked.Like I was just rooting for her because
I was like, oh, liketechnical difficulties are so like frustrating and so
yeah, like I love that, like this was the way she could come
back. And it was kind offun that she has heard with Zach because
I was like, oh, whois that? Like it was like I
thought it was like a couple thatlike just didn't look together. That was
(58:19):
really clever. But yeah, thefact that she listens and doesn't even watch
the Baser yeah type of listener syNavy and then Jacob and Lydia, and
Jacob messaged me saying that like himand Lydia were going to watch these Bachelor
episodes and listen to our podcast. So hi guys. M that was a
really really fun episode to be apart of. Shannon and Peter made me
laugh like so hard. They areso funny. So it was just a
(58:43):
really fun podcast. It's a longone, but like listen to it.
You can watch the video. Youcan see Ethan's really great quarantine mustache if
you're proud of it, as Ias I am as well, and then
I'm still doing Top Chef podcasts. That is so much fun. We love
doing that every week. Um,I do think you should well, like
I do, I think everyone shouldwatch that show. It's just really good.
