(00:15):
Hey everybody, and welcome to theLabor of Love podcast. We got so
much feedback last week that people weredying for Labor of Love podcast. Me
just like couldn't believe it dropped intotheir fees. Um, I'm just kidding.
Nobody asked for this, but yethere I am Haley Strong, back
again for another week of Labor ofLove. And I couldn't do this alone.

(00:37):
Um, so we brought in AngelaBloom to come talk about this.
Can we call it a show?Like? What is this? Well?
I don't know, but I wasasking for it to the podcast. So
you were you? Genuinely were youthe second the second the show started,
I said, I need to talkabout this with somebody because it is a

(00:58):
wild television and I'm loving it,you know what I am too. I
thought, this is like a prettydecent episode. Um, it's given me
everything I want. Yeah, Iwould say the tone is starting to bug
me a little bit every now andthen, like the Christie tone, but
in the Christin Davis tone. Sometimesit's like a little like the Christine I

(01:21):
cannot it's just a little scripted. At points, She's like, you know,
and if I don't do that, bah bah bah, and it's just
like, okay, we got it. Like there, it's a little produced.
I should just want to know, like who in the team meeting?
Was like what if we got Ijust Charlotte from City, Yeah, Kristin
Davis to come in here is thething. But is it maybe her like

(01:42):
thing though? Is was she?Like I thought of this great television?
So like very um what is it? Vanessa and um? Oh yeah,
were they like producers on um Loveis Blind? Yeah? I think it
was like there like Brainchild. Weokay, I'm gonna look, I'm gonna
look up. I'm pretty sure they'relike on the host too barely, I

(02:06):
don't remember. Also, kay,Labor of Love. We're gonna go into
this is excellent podcasting already. Youknow this is why they don't let me
do this by myself usually because Iscrew it up. You don't. Um,
shockingly, it doesn't give me anyany production staff. It actually give

(02:27):
this and Christi, Katsman, Christieand Kristen or not Cindy. Um,
so what do we even what haveeven happened at the beginning of I got
right into the woods. Yeah, well kind of I think that this episode
sort of started off by them sortof recapping the last episode and and then
yeah, it was like the menwere in the house and um, like

(02:53):
hanging out, I guess. Andshe said they basically were told to dress
to impress and get in their luxurycar and it was going to take them
on their whatever, their date, which they're not calling dates, they're calling
them drills, like it's like militarycamp or whatever. My favorite part of
this was Budge in the gym, just like on the floor like no,

(03:15):
I'm not I'm not calling like thisis stupid. I don't think so.
And we learned. We learned thatBudge is indeed a nickname, and it's
because his right little brother and sister. Little brother couldn't say or he couldn't
something about brother like little brother orsomething. And I actually really loved his

(03:37):
parents. I was like, oh, that's so cute. It's a shame
that that nickname has followed him intohis forties. Yeah, he's an awful
human. And we didn't even getwhat his real name is. No,
I have no idea. I'm sureit's online somewhere, but I just can't
break it, will not look itup. Maybe he changed it, lea.

(03:57):
Maybe he is a creative director. He's got have a unique name.
Thanks, But yeah, what didhe say? It was something about like
um okad. I wrote it down, but I don't have it in front
of me. Classic preparation one,no one or notes. I literally watched
this this morning and I still don'tknow what the Wikipedia page for it is
in front of me, only becauseI'm on Adam Maitland types computer and apparently

(04:20):
he prepared for me. I literallyjust opened up Chrome and Wikipedia is open.
Is he gonna listen to this?A babe? We'll say, I'll
text for ask. Hey, younever listened to this? Yeah, he
didn't seem impressed with the idea ofdoing anything. Um, which is pretty

(04:41):
much the theme of this episode ofBudge not wanting to do anything. So
yeah, he didn't want to go. And then we get to the camp
site and he says, I'm notdoing this. I'm leaving. He's like,
I'm just a regular American conservative gentleman, like, oh, oh,
do you not the time and place? Um? Did do you think he
said that one time? And theyjust keep using that clip or he keeps

(05:01):
sure, I don't think he keepssaying and I think that was like he
doesn't seem like very um in theways of reality television, should I say?
Mmm? But yeah, he's theworst. So they're gonna go to
the wild because parenting can be wild. Sure. Wait, I have the

(05:24):
quote. I'm just a traditional conservativeAmerican man looking for an American woman to
share my dreams with. Yoikes,Yeah, that's that's that is Canada?
Is she? I don't know. She seems Canadian well, because she's like
polite, I don't know her accents. I think it's because like Chicago accent,

(05:46):
like Midwest accent, much like Chicagoand Minnesota. Yeah, this grandpa
needs to go anyway, let's goto the wild looking for us. Spoiler
alert, he doesn't stay too muchlonger. We go to the wild and
the guys are all suited up.Don't worry, this was just a hilarious
joke. They all had to goin your jackets, just like, how

(06:08):
convenient for them our hearts and Patagonia'sno worries. Um. And then a
guy, a part guy comes andexplains to them, hey, we've got
lots of wild animals here. Thisis what you do. And they talk
about, you know, if abear comes, and then Kristin Davis surprises
Chrissy, like, guess what,GF, we have a faith bear coming

(06:29):
to p rank the guys. Christand Davis is super into this too.
She's very into this prank. Asthey got into it. The guy is
like practicing being a bear behind them. The guy in the bear suit is
just like his arms are up.He's like, ah, like pretending he's
a bear and the men are notthere yet. He's just staying the suit.
It is. Uh. Yeah.Christie was not really happy about this.

(06:53):
She's like, I don't really seehow that's like helping. I'm not
really much of a pranker. Butlike but then she's yes, like what
she was like, this is,um, this is going to give me
insight into how these men are goingto be strong and protective fathers. Sure,
she's playing the game, she's gettingpaycheck at the end of the day,
and her hair is great. Yeah, there was one date where I

(07:16):
didn't love her hair. Was itthe Dorothy ponytails? Because I love those?
No, it was something else.It was like just very very very
bloominous. M that's just not reallywhat I tend to go for. Um.
Yeah, so she they say thatlike in each conversation, this bear
is gonna jump out, um,and we see two conversations and we don't

(07:41):
see the bear jump out. SoI was like, oh, okay,
I think we just like they cutthrough a bunch of them, like the
figure after they did Matt and afterthey did Alan, and after they did
Trent who ran away, they werelike, we're just gonna cut these.
But we first we had Angelo whoto get a bear attact, but he

(08:01):
just kind of started in on likea budge doesn't want to be here,
and Alan doesn't know your name, and et cetera, et cetera. Um,
And if you listen to the Bachelorpodcast, you know that Amy and
I are um big proponents of don'twaste your time on your date talking about
the other people. And I thinkthat carries over to labor of love.

(08:22):
Um. Christy didn't seem to impressedwith it, but it did. It
ain't kind of threw her off forthe next guy, and I like that.
She said, I don't remember whowasn't it no Mario Matt that wrestler,
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, your own knows a man. It

(08:45):
is a male and he is overforty and she mentioned to him like,
hey, I'm a little thrown offright now, and I like her saying
that, and you know, he'slike, okay, like what's wrong,
Like let's figure that out. Idid like Matt in this episode. I
did too, And it's funny becauseI didn't like him in the first one,
and I kind of get like whenhe's with the other guys, like

(09:05):
I don't want to say a filmvibe, but like a guys guy type
of vibe, and I'm not that'snot something that I usually am into.
It's a very pro mentality. Butwhen he's with her, he's much more
um like sad Steven down to Earth. Uh and yeah, so she just
kind of talks him through it.And then this is the first bear slashes.

(09:26):
That was funny when the bear showedup. Yeah, so he you
know, it was like colleague ofproducers. It's like guys with guys.
I love the breaking of the fourthwall. And we saw when they were
doing like the demonstration too. Wesaw like all the cameras, we saw
all the producers yea, as ifit were like a safety meeting. Uh

(09:48):
yeah. So and then so thatgoes over well, and then we see
Alan, who Christie wants to havea conversation with she's her wild. He
doesn't even know her name. Doyou think it's a big deal that he
accidentally called her Cindy not to herface. No, not at all.
It's actually very similar to like Ifelt like when Angelo outed him. I

(10:09):
was like, he's saying that becauseit is so like off the cuff,
like it's not a bpl like hewas. I felt like Angelo was nervous
and was like, oh, yeah, like Budge says he doesn't want to
be here and all, and saidyour name wrong like ah bah blah blah
blah, like because it's not likeit was literally the day they met her,

(10:30):
and he said it like very like, oh, I said the wrong
name. I didn't like the wayhe explained it, though, I will
say it didn't come across grade.No. So he said that, oh
well, we were talking earlier abouta Cindy, and so that just kind
of came into my mind. Heshould have just said like, oh no,
I honestly just said the wrong name. It was weird and I did

(10:50):
it. I'm sorry, and likeCindy Christie, like I just know your
name. Also, I have threehundred million sperm sou but I did like
how Alan reacts to it. There. He was very protective of Christie.
He like, yeah, like kepther behind him and like when he went
down to like protect his head,he made sure her head was covered.

(11:11):
He like held on to it,even when the bear was like patting his
back. He was like, you'reif your head is down and you're not
looking like you don't know if thatbear is like it wasn't the best person
out right, like maybe just pickher up and go, But they said
don't run, so he was tryingto like follow the instructions. I guess.
Yeah, so he gets a goldstar for me and following instructions and
also for being you know, attractiveand handsome and having a great accent all

(11:37):
those things. Gold star. Um. I just just I have like a
recap up or whatever so I canfollow the lines um And then it does
mention in this recap that Christie isactually Canadian. Oh really? Yeah?
Oh no, it says the twistedOh no. They were talking about Budge's

(11:58):
weird voice over and they said, like he said the twists like Canadian.
So that's funny that you also sawthat. Yeah. I mean I just
thought she was because she kind ofsounded like, Um, she sounds like
a bachelorette that was a Canadian Julian. She sounds a lot like Caitlin m
h. Anyway, not important,No, it's important. Is like the

(12:24):
sex of your children? Oh mygod. Yeah. So she has a
conversation with Mario and she's like, you'd like kids, and she's like,
I want to. Like, don'tget me wrong, I think it was
a wild conversation and like very verysilly, but for like a reason to
send somebody home. But I didthink he was yeah, like what you

(12:45):
say in that moment is I don'tcare as long as they're healthy. Yeah,
it's just like what you say.He was. And he also cut
her off a lot too. Um. He was just like he just kept
like cutting her off. She waslike, I want kids, and he
was like I want boys. Iwas like, okay, sure, dude,
And I love I like that she'snot afraid to like tell them exactly

(13:09):
what she's thinking. She didn't reallydo it in this moment. Later on,
she was like, yeah, Ididn't really love that comment. So
that's pretty much where you're going,Bud. Yeah, then we can like
a nice super cut of all theseall of these men trying to protect her.
Do any of those stand out too, Just the one with um trench

(13:30):
because he was like what did hesay? He was just like, if
it's between me and the bear,I choose me, or something like that,
I run faster than Christy. Butthat wasn't confessional. Oh I don't
feel great about trans chances in thefuture if they're right. And I also
don't think that he from the beginninghas been somebody that is a good fit
for her. But he's definitely thatlike funny guy that the producer pick,

(13:50):
almost like it will go as soonas it gets down to like it not
being like it being serious because evenlike christ and Davis later, like he
was the one that was like sittingon the windowsill and she was like,
oh my god, you guys getinside. These boys are crazy. Like
these boys. Yeah, I don'tlove like the the connotations there. It's

(14:11):
like these are these crazy boys. It's like, no, they're like grown
men. And that's the point ofthe show is that they're all grown men
and they want to be Dad's.So we returned the house to the house
and we get dates we didn't Idon't think we saw dates like this last
week, right, No, Ithink she just did she even go on
a date last week? I don'tthink so. I don't remember the episode,
if we're being honest. So thefirst date goes to matt Um and

(14:37):
they go and drink and then lookat fireworks and then have some more beverage.
We're just gonna ask you what happenedon this date because I it is
no idea. I have no idea. I don't think it's anything that crazy.
They didn't go fun, they justoh no, she did tell him.
She told him like a pretty crazystory though out of nowhere, though

(14:58):
it was very we year. Shewas like, I do need to tell
you something in twenty sixteen, LikeI mean, okay, yes, I
get that that is a very traumatic. Yeah, traumatic and a life changing
moment. So she mentions that shewas a niece during the really terrible terrorist

(15:20):
attack that happened there. She Iguess she was like pretty close to it
too, um, and that reallychanged her way of thinking about life and
what's important. Um. And thatkind of was like how she came to
the show, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. That might have been stuff.
We didn't see it there too.Yeah, he must have told one of
his traumatic stories or something. Um. I did appreciate the way Matt handled

(15:43):
hearing this story. I thought itwas pretty um graceful, which is not
really something expect told her it waslike important to him too, like like
that was good. Do you thinkhe had ever heard of this? No?
Absolutely not, I really didn't think. I think he was just like

(16:04):
empathizing and like being um, likea good listener, you know, like
this is clearly important to her,So I now care about it as if
it's the most important thing in theworld. Like he's such a one of
those people that would probably make avery good partner to somebody that like her
who just like really wants that loveand that like family and that you know,

(16:26):
just like warmness, because he justseems like somebody who cares a lot,
so absolutely and nice on me too. I hope he has. I'm
worried about his prospects next week, but I hope he h Yeah, Well
don't know, Yeah, well we'llsee um. But yeah, they had
a nice cute kiss on the statetoo, and they go home. She
drops her off and it's very nice. Um house by house, It's that's

(16:52):
weird, but that's fine, andthen she goes on another date with uh,
Survivor Gabones Marcus, Yeah, survivefor Capones Marcus. Yeah. Mike
had to tell me that if we'rebeing honest, I didn't for him.
He was like, I don't survivor, and I was like, what,
I don't think I would have recognizedhim to be honest with you. Um.
So they go to a basketball game. I have a nice time.

(17:15):
I felt like the day for you, right, you felt like where you've
into this. I love this?Yeah, for sure, endless food.
The mood was like, I'm verymuch an The kiss cam was one of
the most awkward things I've ever seen. She he did just like a cheek
kiss kind of thing. I kindof liked it because the way he explained

(17:37):
it was like I like, honestly, just don't I am like a shy
guy and like that was like reallyuncomfortable for me, and like she kind
of seems like she's a shy girlabout that kind of stuff, like PDI.
So it was just like them likenuzzling. Weirdly, I felt like
this date seemed a little awkward, but they both seemed brillianto it. Yeah,
I agreed. He also gives hera kiss. At the end of

(18:02):
the night, he walks in,like drops her off in her house and
gives her a kiss and like,so we just got like some weird like
hidden camera angle and I thought itwas a cute kiss. I I get
like a little vestibule kiss. Yeah. Yeah, I think that he is
going to go far. He's almostlike and she even says it. I
think like she's like, oh,he's the on paper, the perfect the

(18:23):
perfect match for me. You know, he's like a doctor. He's great.
He's a doctor. Yeah, yeah, he's a doctor. He's handsome,
he's got the values like blah blahblah. He has also been on
reality television. Yeah, he getsit. He totally gets it. And
before these two dates, Christy actuallypulls budget aside to talk about you know

(18:44):
what she had heard. Um,yeah, I heard that you don't want
to be here. And he's justlike, it's not that, it's just
like I'm so used to like myhome in my life and this whole thing
is like weird, and um,I'm just I like things that are neat
and not messy and blah. Andshe's like, you know, I want
kids, right, Like a kidcomes out a mess and continues to be

(19:08):
a mess until they're eighteen and theneven usually later. Yeah, and he's
like, well, I just look, I don't know. I didn't even
I didn't even know what his answerwas for that. I felt like she
just said that. He was likehe said, you know, I come
from a family where everything was likereally really neat and clean and tidy,
and like that was fine, Andhe was just like, you don't have

(19:29):
to like compromise everything when you havekids, Like it doesn't need to be
messy, and like I'm a proponentof that, Like that's fair, but
like you also need to realize it'slike unpredictable and like things aren't always going
to go your way. You know, they throw up, they're a messy
you know, but like at theend of the night, I do clean
up, and like I backed himthe floor and I make sure everything's like
set for the next day. ButI also have OCD, and like I

(19:52):
don't know if I would necessarily picksomebody who at OCD as a partner,
you know, so I wonder ifuge and this is unfair of me probably
way to say this about him,but like, is Budge helping with that
cleanliness. Of course, I don'tthink so, because he I think his
values are very like based off ofthe parents. The thing that we saw,

(20:12):
I think that he was babied, like I think that he was like
had everything. His parents took amazingcare of him. His mom seemed super
warm and kind. I loved hisparents. Yeah, they seemed great,
but they also looked like, youknow, your typical white bread American family,
so like they probably like she Imean, this is assumptions, but
like maybe she didn't work, maybelike she was a stay at home mom,

(20:33):
like whatever. Well, and herehe grew up in the seventies,
right like when that was a thingthat was more conventional. Um, sure,
do you do you like the familyPoppins. Um? Yeah, that's
actually a really good question because I'mnot sure. I didn't like the one
about what was his name, WalterWalker, that's his name, the funeral

(20:55):
director, Yes, who who?At one point says, Angelo comes clean
to the room. He's just like, you know, I knew something.
I knew you wanted to say something. Because I'm a funeral director and I'm
really good at reading people's emotions.I feel like funeral directors most of the
time their emotion that you're reading islike pure and then the other times they're

(21:17):
just around dead people. So itseems like a weird thing to say.
But yeah, I enjoyed that one. But I found it was weird that,
like the mom was like, youshould not have said that about him,
like Uncle Walker doesn't make his bed. Like I thought it was cute,
the mom was like, that wasnot cute. He ruined his chances.

(21:37):
Yeah, and I think I likethe Family Poppin. Yeah, it
depends on the dimension. Yes,for sure, that's an extra dimension and
it's something that we really haven't seenbefore show. So I do like getting
their kind of perspective. I don'tknow's I wonder when they took those though,
Like was it something that like theydid after the fact and then cut

(22:00):
them in so like they already knowwhat happens, like they're like a little
bit you know, tuned into itor you know. I'm curious how that
works, because clearly it's like theyhad to do them all in one day,
you know, they weren't just likeyeah, like I wonder if the
beginning, maybe they did it atthe beginning. That would mean, yeah,
I would say, like they whenthey're I feel like the guys all

(22:22):
filmed like some sort of intro packageand they probably filmed it all at that
time. Yeah, like come tothe studio, bring your fam Yeah,
be a good time. Yeah exactly. Um So after those dates, they
go, well, we go intothe matching ceremony or whatever it's called.
This is when I started to blackout of it. I was just like,
I do I care. I didquite quickly to this too. I

(22:45):
felt like there should have been moreand then there wasn't. They like,
you know, I don't know, maybe I just we all blacked out.
But anyway, they all hate Iforgot. I forgot that Angelo did.
Oh yeah, they say like, hey, I'm the one who's he said,
actually I may have been the oneto tell her about Bud about It's

(23:07):
like, no, you either wereyou weren't you totally were. This is
where Stewart shined for me, LikeI really enjoyed him in the beginning too,
when he was talking about Budge andit was just like spelling out his
name is like music, her mudgeon. It was funny, her budget,
her Mudgeon. I felt like heStewart shined in this episode is like kind
of a fun fun dude, Ilike Stewart, how did you show?

(23:32):
So then the people she wants totalk to our Budge, Angelo, Matt,
and Mario. I sor how doyou feel about Mario? I mean,
I know it doesn't matter a lot. Yeah, I find I find
him to be a lot so toofor the he does. Yeah. So
she talks to Budge first and she'sbasically like, like, this isn't working.

(23:56):
I feel like she could easily sethim home at the end of the
conversation, but I think they likehaving the two and two like two people
to stay, two people to leavekind of thing. At the end.
Um, so we see him leave, uh, and then and who does
she talk to? Probably Mario right, yeah, and then she just says,
you're out. I want I justwant healthy babies. Yeah. And

(24:22):
then Angelo, right is the lastone because she they are expecting him not
to come back, and then hejust yeah. Because she could talk to
Matt basically just to say, hey, I like you, thanks for this
week. Yeah. So she thenhas a conversation with Angelo about you know,
hey, like are you here forme or what? And of course
yes, and she's like, okay, well, now I can't send you

(24:44):
home. So he stays, andthen, like they did at the end
of last week, it's like theguy who they're not sure about whether Christy's
going to send home or not. It's this weird little shady edit right at
the end. Yeah, like lastweek we saw Jason taking a shot,
this week we see him lait.I don't even remember what he said,
but it was it felt shady.Wait Matt or Angelo? Oh? Angelo,

(25:07):
Yeah, I don't know. Matt'sthe one that was like, this
is what it's all about, likepoints to the fatherhood sign because I'm exhausted
at that already. They Yeah, they keep you seeing it in all the
promos. But um, yeah, this is an okay episode, I guess
right. Yeah, that was quick. We went through it quickly. Um.
I also don't recall what is comingup for um next week's episode?

(25:30):
Do you recall? I just rememberMatt doing some light yelling. Well,
the title is ten Things Christie Likesabout You. Do you think? I
don't know? Maybe because the otherthe first one was Oh so they're all
I get it. They're all like, um romantic comedies. The first one

(25:53):
was fifteen first Dates and the secondone was crazy Stupid Bear m A you
Okay, I like that. That'scute, But I love a rom com.
I don't know. I'm like,I'm like really into this show.
But at the same time, nowthat we were gone through it, I
was like, oh, actually, wasn't like that exciting of an episode.

(26:15):
But it was still quality television.I still had a good time watching it.
I when I put it on,Ethan was still in bad He came
downstairs, saw what I was watchingand immediately went back upstairs. Oh really,
like immediately. Yeah, Mike seemsto be into it so far.
I think it's funny, but youknow, he watches a lot of television,
so not a tough far to reachfor him. Yeah. So,

(26:41):
um, that's it, I get. I don't know what waste all time?
What do you want to talk about? Angela? What's been up with
you? What's been up with me? Um? Yeah? So I am
trying to stay sane during whatever thiswe're calling this COVID nineteen quarantine whatever.
I started a new job like twoweeks ago, so that's wild, um,

(27:03):
And so I'm doing that while also, um watching a one year old
because his daycare's closed. So I'mready to jump out the window. But
you know if you didn't, ifyou didn't have an asher by forty,
would you signed up for a Foxreality show? No? Yeah, I
don't think so, are either.Yeah, I think that I if I

(27:23):
didn't have an asher by forty,I would have like six more lilies.
So that's a good trade. No, if it wasn't gonna if it's like
for us, it was like ithappened, it happened, we love him.
If it wasn't gonna happen, itwasn't gonna happen. Yeah, yeah,
I got that. I got that. Unless there's like a little baby
out there that I should adopt,Yeah, call angel if you if you

(27:47):
please, don't. I can't handleit right now. Yeah for serious?
Yeah, so I um, yeah, that's what I'm doing. It's not
terribly exciting, but again, II mean, I'm lucky to be employed.
Um, I'm lucky that I don'tlive in New York City anymore.

(28:07):
That is real good news. Um. And uh yeah, I'm happy to
be talking to you. I feellike, I know this is great.
We haven't done this in a while. I know, did you kind of
talk about The Bachelor with us thisseason? I don't think so. I
don't think so either. I honestly, I couldn't say. I don't even
know where I am right now,and I don't know what has happened in

(28:29):
one year early another for sure,And like our like time are like day
schedules have been totally turned up onend because like we cannot work if we
have to watch Asher, so wehave to take turns, and then you
know, at nighttime we both justlike sit in bed and like do our
jobs because you know, we dohave to do them, and then we
pass out. So it's a realparty up in the bloom house these days.

(28:52):
But in that time, are youfinding any time to check out any
new television or anything? Clearly Iwatched this, so yes, well we've
been watching a lot of things thatI feel like are appropriate to have on
in the background with the child, which I know isn't great, but like,
also, sorry, world, it'squarantine, it's a pandemic. Do

(29:14):
what you gotta do. I trynot to keep it on too often though,
because he just like does zone outa little bit sometimes, but he
notices the television now, so wedo have to like not put on like
things that are you know, overtlymature in content, So we're watching a
lot of Puppy dog Pals. We'rewatching a lot of m Mouanna. He

(29:36):
likes ma Wanna, so he justlike watches it over and over again.
Yeah, because he doesn't know whathe's watching, just like the music.
And then Puppy Dog Pals is likeliterally like a Disney Plus junior show where
he just really likes the theme songand they're just these puppies and then go
on missions and it's really cute.Um. I did watch All of The
Great on Hulu? Did you watchthat? No? What's it about?

(29:59):
It's about Catherine the Great? Um, it's really really amazing. It has
l Fanning in it. And oh, what is that guy's name? The
guy he was the main who wasleading Tolkien. Oh, it's gonna book
me. I don't know, let'slook it up. The Great. Um.
Yeah, it's the Great. It'sum like a drama, but it's
by the same people that did UmThe Favorite. So it's got this like

(30:25):
weird sort of like high Nicholas Hole. I like Michols Hole, Yes,
love him and there he's so funnyon this him and they're so funny,
and I do feel like it's umkind of got this weird, like sarcastic
sort of meta vibe to it,like they talk kind of in like a
modern way, but they don't existin a modern time. And it's it's

(30:45):
really good. So if you haven'tseen it, see I write that down.
Yeah, so whoa like, butit usually pops up elsewhere. Yeah,
I'm sure I'll have to. I'mgonna look for it though. It's
really good. I felt like itwas you know, like well produced and
all that too, and it's likea it's very complete series to watch,

(31:08):
like who knows if they'll be anotherseason and when that would happen, So
like you don't feel bad at theend of it. You're like, oh,
Okay, that was great. Youknow, I'm gonna check that out.
I do. I do think waslike, yeah, I was gonna
say, I think you'd like thisone. Um, what else have I
been watching? I don't know anythingand everything I've been you know, just
also just like laying there not movingand silent when he takes his naps.

(31:33):
Yeah, you're just like reveling inthe side. I'll go outside and just
like be be ground myself. ButI feel like I haven't been watching as
much television in this time as usual, because a lot of times when I'm
working, I'll have just like ashow playing, I'm not always like paying
attention to it. But like rightnow, while I'm not working, I'm
not like I'm not doing that.I'm reading a bit more. I'm playing

(31:56):
the SIMS so that I'm listening topodcasts than watching television doing that. I'm
trying to stay away from the SIMSbecause I think you need to stay away.
I think that because I used tobe super into it when it first
came out. Of course who wasn't, And like, I think that if
I were to download it, Iwould never get off. No, never
yet that's exactly what's happened to me. And I don't have a one year

(32:17):
old or a job, both thosethings, so it would not be okay.
Um. I've also been watching WhatWe Do in the Shadows, which
is another I think it's on FX, but we watched it on Hulu.
It's like a satirical vampire show aboutlike vampires that live on Staten Island and
they're like, oh my god,that's fun. It's hilarious. They're they're
like dressed in like gothic attire too, and they like are like Transylvanian vampires

(32:42):
and they're just like existing and it'skind of like documentarian. Yeah, it's
pretty funny. Um. The guythat originally made it is one of the
um like the Concord guys, andboth based on a series. It's like
the American version of that series. But it's a pretty good. It's pretty
funny. I kinda have to lookthat up. Those are two things that

(33:05):
I do think I would enjoy.Yeah, what if I even been watching
We've you know, we've been watchingold season the seasons of the Challenge this
recent season. This is the firstone. Ethan his scene. He's been
watching it along with me, heand he's been getting into it. And
then I was like, we've gotnothing else going on, let's start an
old season the Challenge under there forsure. Yeah, So we started with

(33:27):
free Agents and he loved it,like he was into it now. And
so now we're watching the first axesand that we just actually just finished xas.
So I don't know what you onewe're going to do now, but
Ye've been like that that's a greatidea. It's like when I was on
maternity leave and I watched the entiretyof Love Island's UK, like all of
the series, that's it. That'sthat's a big one because those are long

(33:50):
seasons. I get very daunted by. Yeah. I mean when you're home
all day with like a like aone week old that like literally you can't
do anything but hold the baby.Like that was all that kept me going.
As I tell Mike about it whenhe got from work, I'd be
like, what do you hear? What happened on this season? Like He's
like, okay, and off thedeep end with my wife. But no

(34:15):
worries, I'm back. We're allWe're yeah, we're all doing it.
We're all doing this, We're doingthe thing. Well, I don't know,
do we have anything else to sayabout this episode? Like I don't
think so. I don't think so. I mean I think it's a great
show, and I think like theshortest podcast ever, like I try,
wait, wait, how many minuteshas have been I've been recording for thirty

(34:37):
four? Yeah? Who knows? And like ante of that was like me
stumbling into the beginning of the podcast. Yeah, well, I mean I
could go get Mike, we gethit his stakes. Yeah, actually,
let's do that. Let's do that. Yeah, Okay, let's do that.
Yeah, and I don't have tofill the void by myself. Anyway.

(34:58):
I talked to my yesterday for theTop Chef podcast. That's been real
fun. Do you watch Top Chefwith Mike? No? Um, it's
actually really funny. Um he Wednesday, it's on? When is it on?
I forget? Oh? No,so he gets he gets the screeners.
Yeah, so Wednesday nights, Iforget that he has to watch the
screener. And he like gets likeafter January comes in the bedroom and like

(35:21):
puts on his head when he's like, I have to watch my screener.
He says it in such a funnyway. And then and then I'm like,
oh right, okay, guess I'llum, I guess I'll just like
watch something else. Anyway. Herehe is, Mike, Hello, what's
up? Mike? Hi? Howare you? I'm good? Long time

(35:44):
no talk. I know it's beenyou know, a good twenty four hours.
I mean it's such a good twentyfour hours, But twenty four hours,
any twenty four hours without you,Michael is a sad twenty four hours.
Oh. I feel the same wayabout you. Um, so,
what do you even think of alabor of love so much fun. I
grew up on these Fox reality showslike I see it too, and it's

(36:06):
unfortunate, I mean, unfortunately isa certain weird We are the broken people
we are today because of these.I'd blame Fox in VH one. Those
are really the two networks, likemy my network parents, that raise me
to the person that I am today. Yeah uh so, I mean Fox
has always put out just between likemy obnoxious boss or you know, yeah,

(36:30):
I want to marry Harry is alate Ladder of her day version of
that Joe millionaire. Of course, mister personality, the Swan. I could
go on all day with all ofthese cuckoo Fox reality shows. That being
said, this one is like classierin that regard, but it's still in
comparison to everything else. It isstill like putting a bow tie on a

(36:51):
on a bag of garbage, Likeit looks a little nicer, but it's
still a bag of gary. Makethem like, give seamen Jo a fancy
porta potty, I mean sort ofthe bathrooms we had at our wedding look
exactly. We're like a small stepup from the jomobile. I just don't

(37:15):
ever say that, all right,But then we used it the idea I
it's it's just I did not knowlike how far they would go, Like
I love how it does seem likenext week they're going into like the take
care of a baby or You're gonnafind out what birth is like type of

(37:36):
thing, but this week was likesave me from a bear man like show.
How how much of a protector youare? And all of these men,
I don't know, maybe they weretaking the advice of the clearly hired
actor that was the forest ranger, but like I would imagine they all would
have gotten eat just bar none. They would have dug into these like muscular

(37:57):
men, torn the flesh from theirlimbs, and then gotten on their day
tasty. Yeah, and Chrissy didn'tseem like that into the bare thing we
mentioned that, you know, you'reright, this does feel classier for whatever
reason, but it absolutely feels likea Fox reality show in every way.
Yeah. I think what it isis that, especially compared to other dating

(38:22):
shows, even outside of like TheBachelor, like You're Are You the Ones?
Or MTV other shows, I thinkit's that the guys are older and
are sort of for the most partsset in their careers, except for Trent,
who honestly like could be an alienwho beamed into somebody's body, and
just like it is trying to figureout what the ways of human life.
Everyone else is like they're in theirlate thirties, early forties, right,

(38:44):
They're like no understanding of reality television. They're just kind of like there.
Yeah, And I think that there'slike a nice groundedness to a lot of
these contestants, which, again Isay that with a bit of a grain
assault, because a lot of themdid decide to pursue the bear candid camera
task. Drill, I think it'swhat you call pie yeah, exactly,

(39:09):
Yeah, from the Amazing Race,a little Cambodian phrase that we have brought
into our home to make the elephantexactly. But but now it's to tell
the bear to go. But yeah, I think that like they're they're all
like genuinely like like Marcus, Iwas nervous. Again, I'm so used
to so many reality shows of like, oh my god, he didn't kiss
her on the first date, doesthat mean he's gone? But again,

(39:30):
these seem like relatively level except withexcept for Angelos. He's a damn snitch.
But everyone else stitches on reality show. He really is, Like he's
a thirsty bitch who lives for drama. And I don't know how I feel
about it. Is he's is hethe firefighter? Is he not the firefighter?
Firefighter? Because Matt is the Mattis the wrestler. But that makes

(39:53):
me nervous, Like if this manpursuing fires is like a bit of a
drama starter, he brings it intohis job. Maybe this is his like
vacation, His vacation is the timefor him to be caddy. Do you
think he's using all his vacation timefrom the fire department to be here.
I mean that's a good question, though, Hailey, Like people have to

(40:14):
take off, you know, knowingsurvivor contestants that like a month off their
jobs to go onto the show. These guys again have like careers. Do
you think Stewart the CEO, waslike, oh, by the way,
I'm leaving behind my shareholders for amonth to go on this reality show in
Georgia. Yeah, if you dolook at their jobs though, um,

(40:35):
like the one what was it budgetis a creative director? I think that
doesn't sound real. I don't know, I don't know how I feeled up
Budge as a creative director, consideringhow much of a conservative American man he
is that, I don't I don'tknow how much creativity he really has.
Yeah. None of these people havereal jobs though, like I mean,
except for I mean they do,but their jobs Marcus as an inn astition

(40:55):
in aentesiologist. Yeah, I meanI think that their jobs though, that
you could take off, like youcould easily find. Oh yeah, I
forgot about Gary the guy that madebaseball bats in his garage. What they
called Jeffrey Dahmer was the nickname thatmen thanks for thanks up, Angelo called
one of the guys Ted Bundy, and Kristen Davis was like she was offended

(41:22):
what he was upset? Because that'sthe other thing I think that's another good
facet of like Fox reality shows isthat it's hosted by like some rando.
So I'm like going back to theidea of mister personality. It was hosted
by Monica Lewinsky for some reason.I'm not sure why. Kristin Davis,
I don't know. Maybe it wasit like, was she on her way
back from filming that Netflix movie withRob Lowe and decided to like stop in

(41:44):
Georgia. For a hot second. Is it the Wild One Wild You you
saw it? The movie Lots ofAnimals, great holiday flick, you should
watch it. I will not bewriting that on my list of things to
watch that you told me about.I actually do think it would like it's
very much so like a rom comcall me, call me at Christmas and

(42:05):
we'll do it. We'll watch itover Zoom. Do you think Zoom will
still exist by December? I thinkZoom is gonna expand by December. I
think like once everything starts to gettingsettled down a bit, they're gonna like
expand and say like, okay, well now you like Zoom before, but
now Zoom They're gonna try to reallystrike while the iron is hot, when
the iron is ironically cooling off,And I think I don't know how that's

(42:27):
going to do for them, muchlike I guess Christin Davis in a way
of like, all right, Iguess I'm making my way into hosting this
dating show. And I was alittle sad there was a lack of her.
She like appeared at the very beginning, in the very end. That's
funny because we were saying we didn'twe were we had too much too much
Christin Davis. Well, like Ijust have I didn't watch Sex in the
City, so I have no nostalgiafor her. Yeah, I guess it

(42:50):
could be a thing of Like maybethe thing I'm not too fond of is
like her consulting with Christie. Imean, there is this weird ass thing
that's straight out of the circle oflike watch on this tablet uh, you
know, your love life on theline, and to have Christians sort of
like consulting with Christie about it,it's a little strange. But I guess
who else could she consult about it? No idea, maybe that sperm guy

(43:14):
from the firm. Yeah, Likethey obviously have her mom on dial,
like she keeps showing up. Yeahthat's true. I guess bringing her parents
or at least her mom. UhI has, I guess there has.
I'm trying to I was trying tocount how many dads have like talked in
any of those talking heads like thoseAnnie hall As Sally As talking heads,

(43:35):
They definitely don't talk. I thinklike two of them. There was definitely
who was it? There was onedad that we were talking about that like
there's very staunchly like I, ohno, it's Christie's dad, I think,
yeah, he was just sitting therestoic, like I cannot believe my
daughter is doing this right now.Neither of them were into it, and
there was one set of parents andI don't remember who it was, maybe
it was, but but his parentswere like, if he doesn't bring us

(43:58):
home a granddaughter, we're gonna bepissed, like they wanted a baby girl
like bad, unlike Mario who didnot Mike, do you I ask Angela,
do you like the family? Interstitialsoh? I think it's so much
fun because I think that you reallyknow who somebody is like, even just
aside from what they presented the camera, based on who their parents are.

(44:20):
Like that's always my favorite part ofLove Island. One of my favorite parts
of Love Island is when it getsto the end and like family members visit,
because you could tell so much abouta person, like when you meet
their parents, right, you're like, Okay, this makes sense, Like
I have the sum of the equation, but now I have the other variable,
so I can figure out exactly whatadded up to what to get this
person. And so I like thesesort of ways to get to know people.

(44:43):
Even though that little girl I don'tknow that. Little girl said that
Walker doesn't make the bed, andher mom basically treated it like her daughter
had said, like, oh,he has bodies in the ad in the
basement, like he might. Actually, well, he's a funeral director,
he probably does have Obviously he knowshuman emotion. That's always what they say
about funerals, said right, said, like, yeah, as a funeral

(45:05):
director, I think I can readpeople's emotions very well. It's very strong.
I mean, the one emotion isgoing to be sadness. I'm assuming
as a funeral director you're pretty goodat that. Yeah. So I just
thought that was interesting that this poorwoman was like so, like, I
cannot believe you revealed on national televisionthat this man does not make the bed,
Like there are much bigger skeletons inthe closets. I'm assuming of some

(45:29):
of these people concerning that they havetheir you know, in their late thirties
early forties, and they have foundtheir way onto a reality show where they
have to give a sperm count totry to date a woman. Like,
clearly this is not the big ticketnews item. Like, save your outrage
for when some really big shit hitsthe fan. Do you think that proverbial

(45:51):
shit is coming soon. I don'tknow. I maybe do you think it
would have come out during those campfirestories that were I thought we was supposed
to be scary, but they weren'tscary. I don't know. I just
don't know what to make of thisshow. That's the fun part though,
right Yeah, that like, okay, we'll see exactly what happens, because
again, like this week had nearlynothing to do with the parenting aspect.

(46:12):
It was more about the christy aspect. Next week seems to be entirely about
the parenting aspects. I don't knowif they're going to like trade off.
I don't know if they're going todo any crazy things. I'm assuming they're
gonna stay in Georgia the entire time. They're not going to do a bachelor
thing of like hey, let's goglobe trotting. I don't know when did
this film even it looks like twentynineteen. It says early twenty nine.

(46:34):
Oh really early twenty nineteen, inlike a year. I don't know that
we're wearing like furred codes. Itmust have been pretty cool last January.
Mr. Yeah, yes, soso I can imagine that, like even
during those times things were looking abit iffy. So and this is also
a Fox reality show. They're notgonna like go to uh I don't know,
like Meet the Nose for the finaleor well they could use the abandon

(47:00):
and h Lindsay Lohan Speach Club ifthey went to Micanos. Did they didn't
have to say that though? Ordid they have to like is it part
of the contracted the previous tenant ofthe beach house. I don't know.
I think only if somebody was murderedthere. Okay, well Gary's interests repeat,
Should we watch Lindsay Lohan Speach Club. No, we're not gonna do

(47:21):
it. We're not going to doit. I think I tried to watch
one episode one time and I waslike, you know what, even I
have some standards. So this isLindsay Lohan. It's like, I want
a beach club now in Micanos. So she just got a bunch of people.
Yeah, but it's like totally likedestroyed now, right, they just
like abandoned it. Yeah, andKayla from the Challenge was on it.

(47:43):
Didn't she get fired though? Orlike yes, because her and Lindsay Lohan
ate of each other. Okay.Interesting, I'm not sure whose side had
taken that fight. It's like abit of alien versus predator. Yeah,
Like the first thing on Google iswhat happened to Lindsay Lohan Beach Club.
Okay, so this summer, whenwe run out of things to watch,

(48:04):
we will watch that and we willpodcast about it. How do you feel
about that, Michael, Oh,yeah, I'm good with it. I
listened. I heard great things aboutit. When I got to talk with
Dina Lohan in exit press for BigBrothers Celebrities, I forgot. I just
like God, we know Lindsay Lohanbecause you one time talked to Dina Lohan
exactly and she not only that, she also plugged her daughter's show in the

(48:24):
middle of my interview with her justout standing work. So even though she
was so if she was in isolationfor you know, nearly two months,
she knew at least the day enoughto be able to plug her daughter's show
in the middle of her own exitinterview, which, look, Mamager is
pimping out. I suppose though,I guess all the good that it did
because it's done and apparently it's nowbeen gutted for people to move in and

(48:49):
sleep on the floor during Labor ofLove. They thought they were done camping,
but now they're actually going camping andMicanos. That's a big sounds like
a lot of fun, actually,And I asked Angela what other shows she'd
been watching. She told me thatI should watch The Great and also What
We Do in the Shadows. Mike, what else have you been watching?
What We Do in the Shadows? So I've been doing a thing where I

(49:13):
had never watched the like what's calledthe Arroverse on the CW before. I'm
not sure what the equivalent is inCanada, but it's like the Arrow Flash,
Supergirl, Legend that Tomorrow, allthat stuff. So we found like
a nice little handy dandy viewing orderand we are slowly but surely catching up
on that. I'm watching Star Trek. I actually just started watching Devs,

(49:35):
which is a freaky deeky AI basedsci fi show definitely not up your alley.
No, I was actually just watchingit before I came in here.
So my brain is nice and scrambled, which is fine because I feel like
that's like the perfect mental state totalk about this type of show. See,
my brain has been darting around allsorts of types of different things,
because I feel like, because weare limited in the activities we can pursue

(49:58):
outside, it almost like incentivizes youto be like, well, I want
to explore, I want to trysome new things, you know, when
it comes to my TV viewing,And they've been for the most part successful,
so I can't complain too much. But yeah, that's basically what basically
in quotations has been what I havebeen watching it. I would recommend at
all. There's not really anything Idon't recommend, except for devs. If
you were like not into like theex Mockina, first season of Westworld type

(50:22):
of pookie sci fi. Yeah,Like, I feel like if you,
if you've listened to me over thelast couple of years and you think you
have a good handle on what mytaste are, and you think they're similar
to that, your taste are similarto mine, probably maybe don't watch that.
Yeah, it would say, no, I have a very delicate,
terrible taste. Delicate and terrible taste, delicate and terrible at the same time.

(50:46):
It's not right. It's like anugly ice sculpture, delicate and terrible.
Exactly. I think that's a greatYeah, I think that's it for
the episode. Angela, what adarn pleasure. Yeah, this has been
great. I've been so happy tochat with you, and I'm glad we
brought in, um, you know, the true fan of the show,

(51:08):
my clue, I love this showobsessed. Um yeah, thanks. Where
can people find you on Internet?Um? So I am at apology on
Instagram, Twitter, all that goodstuff, so you can find me there.
I mostly just post pictures of mydog and my baby fair and reason

(51:29):
about Michael. You might as wellplug while you're here. Sure, I'll
plug of taking the given the opportunity, I am at a Mike bloom type
on Twitter and Instagram. I'm mostlyon Instagram just like re sharing her stories
about our dog him. If onehave our household is going to do the
work, like I don't need todouble up on the workfload. Sure.
So, Haley and I have beentalking about Top Chef for the past like

(51:52):
eleven weeks or so. As welike to call it toop shoof, you
do like to call it toop shoot. Josh regular like to call it top
chaff, which is a little strangeas well. I'm just full of mispronunciations
around me. But we had areally, really fun podcast talking with our
great friend Brook Williamson, who letus in on so many fantastic tidbits about
herself about the world. I wasnot going to tell you this, Angela,

(52:15):
because I did not want to putthis idea in your head. But
Brooke has three dogs. Yeah,I know, that's like Angela's goal in
life. So there is someone weknow who has that goal. She's maybe
regretting the decision a bit too.Sounds bad. Yeah, and she's also
allergic to them, so oh wellthat's a problem. Yeah, but she's

(52:35):
she's getting through. And Brooke wasa fantastic guest, as per usual,
doing a lot of Survivor stuff. We're recording on the twenty at the anniversary
of the premiere of Survivor, andI've been writing pieces all week long at
Parade dot com slash Tech slash Survivor, where I got to interview people on
the crew about their time on theshow. It was really enlightening. I'm
talking about some Survivor on the Band B as well, doing some lost

(52:55):
stuff with Josh Wackler, just awhole slew of speaking pure nonsense into the
microphone. So I hope people checkit out, especially in these as the
days grow longer and the podcast getsgrow longer as well. Check out all
the stuff that all of us aredoing on the rough as a podcast network.
Yeah, like Mike said, youcan hear me on the Top Chef

(53:15):
podcast. We've been having just likethe best time doing that, um,
and you can hear me here.Obviously, I think of a bachelor thing
is starting in a couple of weeks, so then we are going to like
combine talking about that with Yes,I believe it's going to be like a
like seeing a whole scene or whatever. Yeah, they're registractive, so that'll

(53:37):
be fun. Yeah, I'll lovea great time doing that. And you
can follow me on Twitter and Instagramat eight strong Underscore. You can check
out my block strong Takes dot cA, and you can follow Amy at
