From the studio to a in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is the Big Bucks
Podcast, presented by Game Show battleRooms. Look online at gameshow battle Rooms
dot com. Game Show battle Roomswhere you're in the game show and now
here's your host, Jake. Allright, thank you, Ricky che Welcome

(00:51):
to an abbreviated version of the BigBucks Podcast. We're gonna call it a
quickie as Yes, it's been acouple of weeks. Yes, I am
very busy. Summer is a verybusy time for me. So we're going
to see fewer episodes of this showin that time. Don't worry, I'm
still around. But big news breakingtoday and we had to get it out

(01:11):
there. Wheel of Fortune has alreadyannounced their host. It's going to be
Ryan Seacrest. Ryan Seacrest will bethe new host of Wheel of Fortune in
the United States now, pat sayJack has yet to film his final season.

(01:32):
He's going to have an entire seasonremaining. Ryan Seacrest will take over
in the fall of two twenty four. And that's big news considering the ordeal
that other shows like Jeopardy went through. If you remember Jeopardy, and it
wasn't a disaster because the ratings didn'ttake a big hit, but they had

(01:53):
a bunch of guest hosts. Executiveproducer Michael Richards ended up taking over.
There was issues with what he hadsaid in a previous time, and ultimately
they just decided to go with twodifferent hosts. Ken Jennings, who did
a very good job, and ofcourse Mambolic who is there. We are

(02:15):
talking Wheel of Fortune here, andhonestly, I think this is a great
choice. Ryan Seacrest is no strangerto hosting anything he has. He's done
seemingly just about anything you can dothat involves a host. I mean,
what do we know him from?Obviously big work on things like American Idol

(02:38):
started in two thousand and two asa young lad twenty years ago. He
was twenty five at the time. He's how old is he forty eight?
I want to say he's forty eight. That sounds about right. So he's
done well. He's now Live withKelly and Ryan, which basically he was

(02:59):
replacing Regis Philbin in that regard. You know, American Top forty on the
radio on air with Ryan Seacrest,Dick Clark's New Year's Rock and Eve.
He's been doing that since two thousandand six, if you can believe it.
And he's done hundreds of other thingsthroughout and now he's gonna take over
for Pat say Jack on Wheel.I love it. And Ryan Seacrest he

(03:21):
had a quote today he has andI'm just gonna read this as it reads
quote. I'm truly humbled to bestepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat
say Jack. I can say, along with the rest of America that it's
been a privilege and pure joy towatch Pat and Vana on our television screens
for an unprecedented forty years, makinga smile every night and feel right at

(03:44):
home with them. Pat, Ilove the way you've always celebrated the contestants
and made viewers at home feel atease. I look forward to learning everything
I can from you during this transition. Many people probably don't know this,
but one of my first jobs washosting a little game show called Click for
MERV Griffin twenty five years ago.So this is truly a full circle moment
for me, and I'm grateful toSony for the opportunity. I can't wait

(04:09):
to continue the tradition of spinning thewheel and working alongside the great van of
White end quote. Look, asfar as choices that could have gone here,
they could have gone the comedian route. They could have taken Jane Lynch,
Whoopie Goldberg, they could have gonethat route. And I'm gonna be

(04:31):
honest with you, it's not thefit. It's not the right fit here.
When Drew Kerry took over the PricesRight Man, that was controversial,
it was truly controversial. Some peoplestill can't get behind it, and it's
been more than fifteen years. Idon't see any controversy here. Again there
is. It's hard to find amore professional human being in the world of

(04:59):
hosting than Ryan Seacrest. And youcan say, oh, he hasn't not
any mainstream games. Why don't weget someone that's done them. Who are
you gonna find? Who exactly doyou plan to find that can do that?
It was announced yesterday that Tom Bergerondid not want to do it,
and he's getting up there in age. He would have been a good fit,
I agree, but he didn't wantto do it. The question now

(05:20):
goes, what about Vannah White?Maybe, I mean, there aren't many
people who know the show better thanVanna White, but is she a good
host? Would be the question. And I feel like you'd be putting her
there just because she's been involved withthe show and for no other reason.

(05:45):
So my thoughts, great choice.I think it's great. I'm looking forward
to it, and will a fortune. I'm gonna tell you right now,
the ratings are going to be skyhigh for this season. Can they match
Jeopardy is the real question this year. Maybe people are gonna be watching to
tune in to pass say Jack's finalseason, And you can say what you

(06:06):
will about Wheel of Fortune. Youcan say what you will. And I'm
gonna talk about this in a futureepisode when the time comes, but it's
for another time. But I reallyhope Wheel of Fortune has a massive overhaul
when it comes to the game itself. I've made no bones about it.
I think Wheel of Fortune itself isa little stale, and by a little

(06:28):
stale, I mean very I thinkit could use a lot of tweaks.
I think it could use a lotof things. Again, the prize puzzle
round is fundamentally broken. That needsto change. Will it change? Though?
Because past say Jack is going isunder contract to be a consultant for
the show for the next three years, so he's going to have his input,

(06:53):
and he certainly had his input fordecades when it comes to Wheel,
so we shall see. So congratulationsRyan Seacrest starting in fall of twenty twenty
four on the Wheel of Fortune. Now, the next question becomes, what
of Vannah White, because let's notforget Vannah White has been heavily in the

(07:18):
news for the last week or sofor a different reason. She has not
received a pay raise in eighteen years. Now. I have conflicting thoughts on
that. First off, eighteen years. That's a long time for anyone to
go, no matter who you are, to get a pay raise something when

(07:40):
you've been involved with a highly successful, arguably one of the three biggest game
shows on television now, okay, maybe four. It's hard. It's hard
to separate Jeopardy, Feud and Pricesright from that top five. Let's just
say it is definitely a top fiveshow right now. For sure. She's

(08:01):
sixty six years old. What isshe going to do going forward having not
gotten a pay raise? It seemslike she is in an not a great
spot right now. Because here's thething. Her deal ends with Sony.

(08:22):
Her deal ends at the end ofthis season twenty three twenty four season.
Her deal ends when Pat Sajak retires. Will she be brought back is the
real question. It seems like ano brainer because she and Pat are synonymous
with the Wheel of Fortune brand. They just are. She makes three million

(08:46):
dollars a year, and again, she's made three million dollars a year for
the last eighteen years past. SayJack makes five times that, which is
absolutely crazy. It's a lot ofmoney, and I would argue that they're

(09:07):
both worth that money. However, three million dollars eighteen years ago is not
the same as it is now,and with inflation rising again, you're essentially
taking a pay cut. Now.Look, I'm not one to sit here

(09:30):
and defend millionaires when it comes totheir money. I'm not, I assure
you. That is for a differentconversation, for a different time, for
a different show. But having saidthat, three million dollars is still pretty
good for essentially doing nothing. AndI'm going to get a lot of pushback

(09:50):
on this, my guess, JKsays Radio at gmail dot com, at
big Bucks Podcast, on social media. I'm expecting some pushback here, and
I'm going to stay this very boldly. I don't believe Anna White actually does
anything for the show. Nowadays, everything is automated. There is literally no

(10:11):
reason to have her there. Itis more an esthetics tradition than anything.
When the chow first started, asyou know, you needed someone there to
turn letters physically, that's fine. When they went to a video screen,

(10:31):
it is no longer necessary. Andlook, I will listen to arguments about
her being part of the show.I get it. That's fine. I'm
not suggesting you get rid of her. I am suggesting that she is not
necessary and hasn't been for some time. There is a difference find it now.

(10:56):
Look, if they would like topart with Vanna White, I'm fine
with that. If they don't,I'm fine with that. But here's the
thing. What I believe is goingto happen, and I truly believe Vanah
White will walk away after this season. I really believe that. I don't
believe her and Ryan Seacrest will willwork together. That's my prediction. I'm

(11:22):
not saying for a fact one wayor another, but my prediction is that
she has done when Pat leaves, and I believe that Maggie say Jack will
take over that rule and they willuse her for what pay. I don't
know. I'm not a big fanof Maggie Say Jack. I find her
less. I don't want to burnany bridges. I don't have any burges

(11:46):
burn bridges to burn with Maggie Sayjackor wheel if I really don't. But
I'm not a big fan of hers. I think in the age of social
media, she is your prototypical socialmedia person, which call me old,
but I find super annoying. LookI'm forty one. I don't consider myself

(12:09):
super old, but I find herannoying. Like all, not all,
most traditional social media people that puttheir face on social media and and do
their thing. That's what I find. She's a typical content creator, and

(12:33):
that's okay. It's not for me, it's not for a lot of people.
There were also suggestions that she wouldbe the host to kind of circle
back to this, that Maggie SayJack would take over his host. I
find that would be a big mistake. I really think that would have been
a big mistake. As a letterturner or a screen press or whatever you

(12:58):
want to call her her role takingover Anna White, I'm actually a little
more okay with Let's be honest, she would have an appeal as far as
visuals go with some people, shewould nothing against Vannah White. Vana White
looks great, she looks fantastic. She's sixty six, and I assure you,

(13:22):
she looks fantastic. I'm not evensaying that for her age. She
just does. So we'll see whathappens here. There's a lot going on
in the world of Sony and Wheelof Fortune. But congratulations once again,
Ryan Seacrest, Vanna, good luckwith you. You're a national treasure.
And I assure you, I'm notsaying anything here that is attempting to discard

(13:48):
you at all as a person, because look, Wheel of Fortune needs some
work, and that's not the areait need work. It needs work,
it doesn't. Again, all I'msaying is it's an unnecessary part of the
show. But we shall see.We will talk in the future about the
overhaul of Wheel of Fortune, andhopefully that happens in the twenty twenty four

(14:09):
season. But when Wheel debuts inSeptember of this year, we will have
a nine month long salute to past, say Jack, and hopefully we can
do that for Vanna White as well, or maybe she'll Stickerman. I don't
know, but we're gonna find outbefore the season is up. So thank

(14:31):
you so much everybody. That's aquickie. We're gonna get that out here
right away. Thank you so muchfor tuning in. We'll see you next
time. We're gonna have a fullepisode sometime this week, but we needed
to get that out there right nowbecause this was breaking news, folks.
