here's your host, jak Well. Thanks, Ricky Gee, welcome to the
(00:47):
Big Bucks Podcast. We have anotherquickie here for you, and we're gonna
do a few of these, probablyover the next couple of weeks or so.
I will get back to regular showsonce summer in baseball season kind of
winds down. I've got a lotgoing on there, so it has been
tough to get into our studio hereand sit down and record actual thirty forty
(01:10):
fifty minute show. So it willbe another quickie today. Thank you so
much for bearing with that. Ifyou know what you want to talk about,
hit us up on Twitter or Facebookat Big Bucks Podcast. You can
also email the show JK Says Radioat gmail dot com. That's JK Says
Radio at gmail dot com. Let'sget right into it. Last time we
(01:30):
talked about the van A White situation, and you know, Pat say Jack
retiring and what to do with VanahWhite. Well, she's made it very
clear that she wants to get apay increase, and whether that was brought
on by her or pressure from otherpeople to you know, that kind of
exposed how little she was making comparedto Pat might have been the factor.
(01:55):
I don't know, but she wantsroughly two hundred fifty percent pay increase,
and last time on the show,I said how worthless her job is in
the first place. However, Iget that she is a huge part of
Wheel and has been almost since thebeginning. But here's the thing. As
(02:16):
of recently, she's now a littleworried that she will be replaced. She's
actually very worried about this. Nowhere's the thing. If Vanna wanted to
go one more year at three milliondollars, go out on top with pass
Ajack, that would have been perfect. In my opinion. Ryan Seacrest will
be taking over starting in fall oftwo twenty four. Now sounds like the
(02:42):
fight between Van and Wheel executives mayhave definitely taken that turn for the worst.
Many sources are claiming that negotiations andare under or rather that White is
under the impression that executives think she'squote replaceable because of her lack of clout.
As I talked about before. Ihonestly, you're saving a lot of
(03:06):
money and time by not having someoneturn letters. If a game show,
if Wheel of Fortune had never existed, and you made a show that is
basically Wheel of Fortune. Now,like let's just say we invented Wheel of
Fortune. Now, would you havesomeone turning letters or touching a screen?
(03:29):
My guess is no. My guessis no. So do we continue to
adapt to the times and take awaysomething that a role that is essentially meaningless,
or do we stick with tradition getVan of the money she deserves.
(03:50):
And she is a big part ofWheel's success, There is no question about
that. As I said Laura lastquickie, I'm not saying that at I'm
saying her role is not significant tothe show, whereas her being there has
(04:11):
been significant to the show's success. There is a difference there. So I
am conflicted here personal opinion. Ithink they should pay her the money for
at least one more season and say, hey, we're gonna give you this
what seven and a half million dollars, and we want you to retire with
Pat say Jack, and then there'sa decent chance Maggie Saygeck's going to take
(04:35):
that role starting with Ryan Seacrest.I don't know, but it's getting heated
and they're gonna have to figure somethingout soon because Vanna said last week that
she's probably gonna hold out until shegets this money. So this is going
to be a very interesting scenario becausethey do begin taping pretty soon for the
next season, So keep an eyeon that. We'll keep you updated here
(04:57):
on the Big Bucks podcasts and concerningat all. Right, good news on
a few fronts here, and wesaw TMZ taking video or rather I'm sure
they took a video, but we'vegot pictures of Jamie Fox, the host
of Shazam, who has been inthe hospital or what we know hasn't been
(05:20):
seen for a couple of months. He was out in public briefly. TMZ
has some footage of and I've seenpictures. I haven't seen the video of
it, but he's riding in aboat on the Chicago River and he apparently
looked great. He was waving atpeople on the show. But here's the
big question. We still don't knowwhy he was in the hospital. We
(05:41):
have no idea. The best wecan come up with and take this with
a grain assault. Our best sourcewas Mike Tyson because you know, that
sounds that sounds good, right, seems legitimate. Mike Tyson said he probably
had a stroke, but again, that's not really a legitimate source. And
(06:02):
I'm never going to take Mike Tysonat his word because he's you know,
Mike Tyson, so why would you. But it does make sense, It
really makes sense considering what he wasaway for and the suddenness and all that.
So you know, that's great. He's actually set to be in another
show with Karrin, his daughter Karrinn, another musical game. It's a Fox
(06:28):
show called We Are Family. Idon't know a lot about that, but
it's going to debut during the twentythree twenty fourth season, pending the writer's
strike, which is affecting everything rightnow now. Beach Zam has been struggling
significantly, mainly mainly because Nick Cannonhas been hosting it. Nick Cannon,
notoriously not a great human being, has been hosting for in place of Jamie
(06:55):
Fox, and he actually was partof a million dollar win which we highlighted
about a month to go. Butthe show has actually hit just over one
million viewers, which is essentially aseries low. Not good news. For
Beach Shazam. But if Jamie Foxonget back on there before you know it
gets canceled, perhaps that will bethe ratings boom that it needs. Good
(07:17):
luck, Jamie, we want youto because because Jamie's a cool guy,
we want we want Jamie to comeback strong and hopefully get back to hosting
Beach Shazam. Speaking of game showsthat are coming back, here's Celebrity Feud
and Pyramid made their debuts recently,Celebrity Feud hitting their new season, Pyramid.
I do believe these are a handfulof episodes that haven't been aired yet,
(07:41):
so we are getting new episodes ofboth Celebrity Family Feud and The one
hundred thousand Dollars Pyramid. Caught abit of Pyramid. Not impressed. Look,
we've talked about the one hundred thousanddollars Pyramid on this show. I've
talked about it on social media foryears. That the show's good, it's
fun, it's nice to have aniteration of Pyramid. But I still have
(08:05):
a big problem with judging. Thejudging is inconsistent and airs too leniently in
my opinion. The the blatant useof prepositional and description descriptional phrases in the
winner circle is beyond degree. It'sbeyond degree just and it is irritating.
(08:26):
Maybe it's because I've been on akick of watching Dick Clark Pyramids. But
my good lately, but my goodness, it's that was a finely tuned machine.
And you go and watch the MichaelStrahan version. Michael Strahan is great.
It is. It's a little it'sa little rusty. It's a little
rusty. The celebrities are very hitor miss, which is too bad because
(08:52):
some games, you'll get celebrities where, hey, we're gonna have a twenty
one twenty game. In the maingame, you're gonna win, go to
the top of the pyramid, whereas you have other celebrities where the final
score might be thirteen to twelve, and that is a bad look. You
should have celebrities that know how toplay the game. I don't know why
that's so difficult to figure out,and you're gonna get that one. It's
(09:13):
a weekly show, whereas the DickClark Perramid was a daily show. So
you had the celebrities staying on longerand longer weeks at a time because they
could tape four or five episodes ina day, and they'd be around for
that time. Here you don't havethat luxury, and that's kind of the
(09:33):
downfall of having prime time weekly gameshows based off of previously daily game shows.
They're different. I talked about CardSharks recently how much I despised the
prime time version but adored the oldJim Perry shows. It's the same concept
here with Pyramid. For me,the celebrities are bad, the judging is
(09:56):
very off its game, and therules are a little different when it comes
to the tiebreaker. For me,the tiebreaker is the worst part of that
show. And if you know anythingabout Pyramid, the original show, you
had a tiebreaker, they would breakit by giving one team words that start
with the letters or whatever letter, and the other team and get words that
(10:18):
start with some other letter. Here, they just very and I get it,
it's a time thing. But whatthey do here is basically take the
team that got the most right inthe shortest amount of time. It's lazy,
but it's a time thing, andI totally get it. They got
(10:39):
to do something, but I justdon't feel like that's the right thing to
go. All right, and thenfinally this is out of the Blue.
Remember Scott Rogowski, You remember HQTrivia, You remember that app? Remember
that app that was the Boom AndI want to say twenty sixteen, twenty
seventeen, maybe even later sounds aboutright. That thing was big for like
(11:03):
a year, maybe two years.I remember playing it. I am a
I don't remember how many times Iwon six, six, six or eight
times, and I think I wanta total of like three bucks. But
it was fun. It was afun daily game. It was live.
Well, Scott Regowski is gonna bedoing another internet app based game show called
(11:26):
jack Pocket Live now. This iscourtesy of Jackpocket, a local or a
national lottery courier which you can,you know, buy powerball tickets through jack
Pocket and they help you out.You can buy it online, so basically
a form of gambling online that getsaround going to a store to buy a
ticket. We're gonna have Scott Regowskihosting, and we don't know a lot
(11:48):
about this show, but it's gonnabe online, and Scott Regowski is a
funny human being, so I'm goingto definitely watch this or play it or
whatever you're doing, Scott at whenI've got a quote here courtesy of bonus
dot com. You're ready for thegreatest thing to happen to your phone since
well, Jack Pocket. I'm soexcited to be a part of jackpockets expansion
(12:11):
into live streaming content and for folksto try the new game when it hits
the app this year. We're gonnahave some fun, win some cash,
and feel good doing it. Soit sounds like it's coming in twenty twenty
three over the next few months. That's great. We'll keep you updated on
that. And I'm very excited tosee Scott Rogowski back on my phone.
Whether it's daily or weekly. Idon't know exactly what they're doing, but
