Speaker 1 (00:00):
Cheer to the Gallan Sports talk show. Everybody, thank you

(00:24):
for being here and joining us. Episode twenty one got
a great lineup for you, brother, Noel, you already know
football is here. I finally drafted my fantasy team, so
you know, I got to tell you all about it,
and I definitely want to hear yours. How you feeling
about your draft? Man?

Speaker 2 (00:39):
I feel really good being in the spot in out
of twelve.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Oh that's in okay, see went back to back. I
think we did talk about that last time. And that's
just the one league or you're in. How many leagues
treat leagues?

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Right know? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (00:56):
See that's the thing. I talked about it last time.
Only I didn't want to go against myself. So I'm
only gonna be in one league and put all the
focus in there, and that way, I'm not rooting against somebody. Right. Oh,
I need Marvin Harrison Junior to score a touchdown, but
I also need him not to score touchdown because he's
gonna blow my parlay. Like I don't want to be
doing that, right So, but I feel good about my team.

(01:17):
I'm just running down real quick. I took Lamar Jackson,
I took b Jon Robinson with my first pick. Nice
came back with Ittsi and Junior Jacksonville running back. He
scored a lot of touchdowns. Got Lamar Jackson with the
third pick. Davonte Smith, Jalen Waddle, Nice Ferguson Dallas's tight end.
Amari Cooper is my flex. I took Zia Zaia Franklin

(01:40):
my linebacker. He scores a lot of points forty nine
ers defense. And then Jake Elliott as my kicker. And
then I took a couple of long shots. I took
Nick Chubb, who I know is out to start the season,
but he was really productive for me last year before
he got hurt, and I'm excited to see what he
could do later. I wanted I wanted to get Jerome
Ford for somebody beat me to it. I took Blake

(02:00):
orm You'd be proud of me. That was mine.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Nice. That's a good pick. I heard good rapport coming
out of there.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
I feel like the Karen Williams thing. We're going to
see him being a punt returner and all this. I
think Blake Koram is too good to not see the field.
And this is when you really want to get the
most out of these running backs. You're not paying them anyway,
so this I want to run him into the ground.
He's got fresh, young legs. I also took who's also
out to start the season. TJ Hockinson. We knew he

(02:25):
blew out his m c L a c L towards
the end of the season last last year, he didn't finish,
but he's got a lot of good upside and I
feel like they're going to really need his services in Minnesota,
so I'm willing to sit on him for a little
bit in the meantime to finish out by bench. Cole
Comet tight end who actually was just hanging around there.
I think he's going to be a big target for

(02:46):
rookie Caleb Williams quarter definitely, Yeah, and then I finish
up with Jamison Williams. I think Alman Brown is the
top tier, and for the Lions that's Jared gos guy,
but James and Williams, who knows the easter out of Alabama.
He can get down the field and get going, and
I felt like there was a little bit more stock

(03:07):
in him in his consistency and hopefully he can catch
the ball because that was his problem, you know what
I mean? Versus like a Xavier Worthy, who I know
is going to be a Andy Reid gadget guy. But
I just I couldn't get too Worthy, So I was like, well,
let me just kind of hang in and make sure
I get some of my bi weeks covered with a

(03:29):
little bit. So, I mean, that's my team right there.
I'm rolling with it and I feel good, roots and harmony,
ready to rock, ready to be nice.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
What did what roum did you get on Mari Cooper?

Speaker 1 (03:40):
Oh late man, I mean he's one of those I
was saying. He kind of dropped off like Cooper Cup did. Right,
Cooper Cup having a triple Crown season a couple of
years ago to getting basically outshined by Hooka Nakua, which
he did get hurt before. Right, he was a dealer
with some injuries, Nick Knack injuries, and then all of
a sudden, you can get a Cooper Cup in the

(04:03):
eleven twelfth round. Yes, he was still there available, but
I mean we'll see. Matt Stafford has a lot of
report with him, so I think he might rebound. But
for Mark Mark Cooper set the franchise record for the
Cleveland Browns and receiving yards last year, so he definitely
has enough in the tank. And Cowboy fans listening, they're
still mad and Jerry Jones for giving him away for

(04:25):
a fifties, you know what I mean. So I feel
good about having him. My wide receiver's Davonte Smith, who's
just stud with the Philadelphia Eagles. Jalen Wattle Miami Dolphins.
They're his second. So I got basically two wide receiver
twos and then a Mark Cooper, who you could argue
if Deshaun Watson is good or I don't know, Jameis

(04:45):
Winston is there, put him in somebody can get the
ball to Mark Cooper because he had a great year
last year despite Poorker. So I'm excited, man, I'm excited.
You know who. I didn't draft Harrison Butker. Why why, golly,
he's a weez he weezl. I was gonna draft him

(05:06):
just to bench him so he doesn't score any points.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
At all or anybody.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Yeah, but I just yeah, I couldn't. Like I said,
I hope he misses all his field goals. I hope
all the bad things happened to him in football and
too and to him alone. And you're like, oh.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Man, you be like guys, it's karma. It's karma. He's
just gonna screw up on hisself.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
I gotta be mad at somebody, right I gotta be
upset at somebody. So right now I'm upset at him,
and I'm also upset just transition at the seventeen year
old who shot Ricky Pursall. Do you hear about that?

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Man, he's getting robbed. The mom said, I guess he
went true his chest and otes back. He didn't hit
no vitals. And I just heard that he might play
this this year.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Oh, he'll play this year for sure. I mean, he's
from first overall, he will play. I was just looking
up before we got on that he has been released
from the hospital and he's back in the forty nine
ers facility. So this guy putting in the work amazing,
and you know, just just a sad thing to have
happened to, you know, to someone that just goes to

(06:18):
show you you know, that can happen to anyone. And
of course he had to drip, and I guess it
was a droolry. It was an attempted robbery or something.
But you know, a young man threw his whole life
away over some bling and almost took the life of
a young athlete who's supposed to revitalize that San Francisco's offense.

(06:38):
Because you know how I feel about Shanahan. They can't
do nothing, and you know neither can Ricky Pursol. And
for the first at least four games of the season,
he'll be out, missing the first four games. And that
seventeen year old that shot him was charged with attempted murder.
And I say good because you think about seventeen years old,

(06:58):
what he's doing. You just trying to get through his
street class and and and make it to your senior
year high school, or make it out of your senior
or in high school. And then you got somebody running
the streets trying to put a gun on somebody and
actually pulled the trigger.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
That's crazy.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Well it went through the man. That means it could
have struck someone else, old lady or a kid anti somewhere, Like, Yeah,
it's disgusting, and I hate that because there is enough violence.
We hear about it enough and every day, Yeah, it's
it's it happens. Unfortunately, everything that's going on overseas, and
there's always too many wars and whatnot. But when it

(07:33):
hits the sports world and like how tragic would it
have been? It seems like every off season we lose
someone a basketball player or a football player in a
car accident before they were supposed to make it big
in the league or something. But gun violence, I don't know,
it just hits me different because it's like, when is
enough enough? Maybe rob somebody could have change that's not

(07:54):
going to be enough to retire on. So that means
you're gonna rob and shoot somebody else.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
That's a life you're giving up. Are good costs of
your life? You know?

Speaker 1 (08:02):
Yeah? And I just it just drives me nuts, brother, Nola.
I just I never understand why this infatuation in this
country with people in guns and turning them on one
another for for what I mean, you think.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
A blame or pocket change or something.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
I just don't understand it. I just remember just seeing
that getting a notification of just being grateful that he
was okay, because Heaven forbid he wasn't. And that's that's
what we're talking about to start our season, and we've
got to have a moment of silence for for Ricky
Pursaul and you know what I mean, And I don't want.
I don't want Niner fans to have any excuses.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Now.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Now you know you shot their first round draft pick.
Now it's gonna be like was in there. And but
one thing they're not gonna be making an excuse for
is George Kittle, because bro I told you in my league,
I think I told you the screenshot he was available
in the like eleventh round, tenth round, eleventh round, still available,
because everybody in my league know he ain't gonna do nothing.

(09:02):
In fact, I'm gonna get George Kittle tracker. I'm gonna
I'll put my money where my mantha is and I'll
make it. I guarantee he gonna have seven point nine
points to start opening. You know, like George Kittle, fans
are really hoping that Brandon a youth was traded so
that he can actually get some value. But Brandon nyuk is.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
He's the man, and he's great. And I had a
kiddo last year in my league.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
You never do squawking too how you got her then
then you blew up.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
And I'm just glad when he blew up, I.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
Trade him because he wasn't doing nothing for me last year.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
I'm glad. You know from first time experience. So I'm
not just and he's he's a Niner anyway, as a
RAMS fan, I know you don't really care about him.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
Well, it's just too much weapons over there. For for everybody.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
You gotta give the ball at least twenty five times
to McCaffrey. You at least got to touch the bar
on that that much. Maybe maybe you maybe get his
ten targets, then Debo get his touches on runs or catching.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
There's there's too much mouth to feed over there.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Well that's what makes them dangerous. And you know that's
why Christian McCaffrey went number one overall in our league,
as he did with a lot of people if he
you know, saw his production last year. So yes, he
was off the thing. And I told my homie Jamara,
I said, I wouldn't touch him or bet him to
score any time touchdowns until you absolutely guarantee that Trent Williams,

(10:26):
the best left tackle of the game, is back in
that building. And yeah, I checked today before. I haven't
seen anything. I didn't see if he signed or not.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
He did. He just did sign later this evening.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
Okay, all right, person, So I mean they go they
basically showed him the money, So show me the money,
show me the money.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
You know, I think they're going to be a little
bit rusty, not playing in camps or involve in voluntary workouts.
So I'm thinking in the Jets game, might be might
be a little rust there, or start the.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Season well more rust than Aaron Rodgers. I mean, his
his akiles, he's lower extremity's got to be all rusted through.
He hasn't.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
You don't have to have to pass and do nothing.
That said Panda ball off to pre So, I mean,
that's all you got.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
I mean, give him the man.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
The like and we'll be fine for years.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
This I was like, I was thinking Kansas City at
the time, I was like.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Home, I remember him just running over my broncos he
hit that hip. Yeah, you can change directions, but now,
I look, we will see. I understand exactly what you're saying,
and in theory it makes sense, but we know that's
not the league, right. There's a lot of evan flowed,

(11:44):
there's a lot of nuanced So I mean, well, look,
I'm excited. That's all I can say is I'm excited.
I can't even stumbling over the words just looking at it,
and I look down at my fantasy team, and of
course you want to feel like you're drafted good, you
got money on it, You feel good about your team.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
You got a nice team right there, Like I kind
of like it. You and b Jean first and the
sixth soul. That's a perfect five.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
And I had a chance to get either him or
brist Hall, and I thought, let me take bjeon because
this is not going to be like last year where
Tyler Algier is is snaking all his goald line carries
and we saw how athletic this guy. This guy, you
get the ball in his hands and he gets yards,
he gets touchdowns. He will produce, especially because Atlanta the

(12:28):
energy is going to be turned up. I predict Kirk
Cousins is going to be down by week four, week five,
Michael Pennix is going to come in and look back.
This is going to be another Brady blood Cell situation
where Kirk Cousins is going to ride off to the
sunset and get his one hundred million dollar contract and
Michael Pennix Junior is going to take over and be
this generation's you know, passing Michael Vick. I guess black

(12:51):
a better term you know.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
It will be the next up and coming Vick.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
He's got a way better arm and for it to
seeing him and Atlanta do well. Atlanta is just not
a good sports city, even though there's so much there's
been a lot of talent. Like what is it like
the Braves in nineteen ninety four, Well, yeah, okay, I
was only four years old. Yeah, I just you know,

(13:17):
I'm hoping that they do well. And so I got
Jean Robinson. I took him. I saw what he did
to me last year in Fantasy over Britall. I just thought,
if Aaron Rodgers goes down, which I'm not expecting it
and I'm not putting out in the universe.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
But don't be surprised.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
Though he can't shoulder the load the way like Jon
Robinson was a highly touted pick coming out, like everybody
knew it and we saw it. It wasn't like he
was bottled up a very similar way we saw Jamiir
Gibbs last year, but the Lions were intent on feeding
Montgomery instead of Gibbs. So I think he's going to
have a standout year two if they're not splitting the

(13:52):
carrieres as evenly. But the pick I'm most excited about.
And I know I'm really long witted talking about this,
and some people think he's just beusy football. We don't
want to hear all right, nobody can take my joy.
This is a very exciting time. But Lamar Jackson, my quarterback.
I'm excited to see his growth. I heard he's faster

(14:15):
than ever, has slimmed down, he's got the best running
back he's had in his backfield, Yes, Derrick Henry. And
you could say that might sneak some of the carries
away from him, but I think he's going to He's
going to try to blow the league away and show
them like now I'm a better passer than when I
came into the league three years ago, four years ago,
and now I'm faster than ever as well. And when

(14:39):
I don't run, you have to deal with this big
bruising back that is Derrick Henry. Which if he's averaging
yard to carry, you'll take it. This stage of his career,
he's got a lot body.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
And they're going to run the ball a lot over there.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
So better Todd munkin offensive coordinator, Hey, you listening, run
the ball. Their wide receiver corp is not as good
as the e Okay, it's not as good as the Bears,
it's not. Yes, you know what I mean. I would
put it on a part like Rashan Bateman and Jay Flowers.
A flowers last image we have of him is fumbling
into the end zone and costing his team with you know,
stupid penalties. So you know what I mean. You know

(15:14):
what I mean. So, yeah, proved me wrong. I left
him deliberately on the board. I didn't want him anywhere
near my team. Last year, my wide receivers was Calvin
Ridley and Jay Flowers, and now I'm looking at Devonte
Smith and Jaylen Wattle and Amari Cooper. So I feel
like I did upgrade that as well as my running backs.
But I picked six instead of picking twelve in a

(15:35):
twelve person league, you know what I mean. It makes
a big deal that skill. And then once my injuries
happened Nick Chubb, who's on my bench currently out, once
he went down against the Steelers last week, I was done.
Mike Williams went down for the Chargers the week after that,
and I was scratching his survive and barely made the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
You know, that's his Every owner's nightmare it is having
You're having your your team just disintegrate every week, but
every weekend, every week.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
And it's so frustrating.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
You gotta go on the waiver rize and find a
replacement for him.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Yeah, and brother, no, I'm a waiver wire warrior. I
don't I don't have any loyalty to the soil. I
don't care where I drafted you. If you're not performing,
you could ride the bench. And of course, you know
good players, you keep them. I don't want to drop
those guys, but they can sit the pine and I'll
put somebody else in that is producing. I don't owe
lower ty to any of these guys. You know, I'm

(16:26):
I'm I'm. If you don't produce, you added here.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
Out on the bench. All right, that's fantasy football. You
gotta produce.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
Yeah, come one now, because you know you're always hoping
for the next person up. Yeah, that's when we found
that what jeroon forward last year when Nick Chubb went down,
and we found that when you know, the Raiders going
through their quarterback shuffles and you're like Aidien O'Connell can
actually throw the ball. We don't have to have it's
a quarterback that for the Broncos. That was upset. He's

(16:53):
not a starter. I can't I can't remember he was.
He was mad because I think he finished third streaming
behind Zach Wilson, Stinham yared'st Didham. Yeah. Yeah, So it's
funny all these names and all this stuff that just
rattles around at our head and when we come talking
about it, it's it's just crazy. But I want to
talk about my Broncos real quick, and then I want

(17:14):
to hear about you and your rams for my team
predictions because before the season starts, it's just coming up quick.
I want to say my Broncos, I predict their team record,
and don't be mad at me, Broncos fans. I'm just
being real.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
Ninety eight oh lo.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
Eight but missing the playoffs. So I texted you originally
prior to the just but as I'm going through, we
play the AFC North and the NFC South, So I
was looking through. I ran through their schedule. Seahawks wins,
Steelers win because Russell Wilson is the quarterback, and we
know what that's gonna lot. Yeah, we already know. But

(17:56):
then we go two straight losses with going to the
Bucks that's a loss, and then Aaron Rodgers and the
Jets finally I think they get it going. So we're
at fifty five hundred four games in. We beat the Raiders,
which would be good to go above five hundred to
three and two, and the Raiders have had our tail recently,
but I think bon Nicks finally gets his sea legs

(18:16):
and starts whipping that ball around. Take a loss to
the Chargers. After that, will beat the Saints and beat
the Panthers for the NFC South, and they come back
with back to back losses to the Ravens and the
Chiefs on the road, come back and surprisingly beat the Falcons.
But I think that might be like Michael Pennix's first start.
So that's like Week eight, loose to the Raiders and

(18:39):
the Browns back to back. We'll beat the Colts and
the Chargers, with a loss to Joe Burrow and the Bengals,
and then beat the Chiefs at home at the final
game of the season. But that's because Mahomes and them
are already sitting their starters and it's just a moral
victory to go nine to eight. So again, Bronco fans,
you could say, you know, Louis didn't need to believe.

(19:02):
So I'm gonna say, listen, I'm just being real. I'm
looking at the skin, and you know, of course I
have faith. I did give them an overall winning record.
But I mean we'll see proved me.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
Right, If what's his name your quarterback, well, if you
can stay healthy your old season, that's a good prediction
for you team.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
And like you said, that's a winning season.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
A winning season for a rookie, the first rookie since
that's yeah, yes, absolutely, and that's something to build on.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
Build confidence, I think for the next season.

Speaker 1 (19:35):
Yeah, I know, a winning season is absolutely what Sean
Payton needs to keep his job because we said last
time i'm watching him, I want to see Sean Payton produced.
And he got the quarterback he wanted and I don't
want any excuses. We got two good running backs Javonta
Williams estimates toting the rock in the preseason. I want
to see some production. But again, I mean, I wrote

(19:58):
it all down here in my notes right here, and
I want to see what's going on. What about you?
What's saying you for about for your rams? What is
their record this season? And fix off in just a
few days.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
I'm gonna say ten and seven just making the wild card.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
Making the wildcard, Okay, So I assume you have the
Niners winning the division. Yes again, right, I mean we'll
see something waking a wild card. So Poka Nkua and
Cooper Cup both eat and have twelve.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
I think they eat Carrier and Williams we eat Coral
movie would be good.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
I think that defense what what we eating gone?

Speaker 3 (20:39):
I think we did good in the draft grabbing the
too Florida State's uh defensive end and tackle. There was
a defensive team last year in Florida State and they
had They had one of the best defense in college
last year. So picking those two guys up and in
the draft got excited. We got Trail White, we picked

(21:00):
him up off a free agent. So I'm happy with cornerbacks.
Williams came back for one of our corners. I think
we're gonna have a good defense that I think we're
gonna surprise Warrant and what other people think.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
Well, that would be good. You need it again, like
I said, with the firepower of the Niners have yes,
Zona getting better. This is a proven year for Kyler
Murray and now he's got a guaranteed bona fide number one,
even though he's never taken a snap by namesake alone
Marvin Harrison Jr. Which I wish I could have got him,
but I was trying to stay away from the rookie
wide receivers, learning my lesson from the hit and miss

(21:40):
and Zave Flowers last year. But he has a chance
to be something special in a way that I'm seeing
on the college level with Colorado Deon Sanders and his team.
I'm watching Jimmy Horn Junior, the son of Joe Horn,
Joe catch seven catches for one hundred and ninety eight

(22:01):
yards and a touchdow at North Dakota State, and I'm
just that's like, man, we're old. So you're telling me
Dion Sanders son is throwing the Sandals four hundred and
forty five pass yards and four touchdowns and and he's
thrown as a Jimmy Horn junior, who's who's just cutting
it up sixty nine yards score.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
And we're old? Where old?

Speaker 1 (22:21):
It was a great game. You know, I was pulled
for Colorado because you know all the hype and everything,
and you know, they they they scheduled these moneyball games
because they want to beat up on some talent. But
we know North Dakota State, they they produced talent. You know,
Carson Wentz went there, didn't you go there? Yes, and
these guys win. I think they're nine to four against

(22:42):
like Division one opponents. Like playing them. People think, oh,
we'll go book this the Bisons, and the Bisons come
to town and start whopping on some tail. So you know,
I liked what I saw. It Basically is ken Shador
Sanders stay healthy and upright in the pocket because their
offensive and defensive line are their weak points. Still, they
struggled with this inferior I say inferior in quotes air

(23:05):
quotes opponent and weren't really moving. So I'm anxious to
see how they play on Saturday against Nebraska. And that's
Matt Ruhle, who's the former Carolina Panthers head coach who
got fired because he wasn't doing nothing. So seeing him
complain and open his mouth against Dion and and his

(23:27):
squad and see what they do. If if Colorado is
given some points, and you're a betting person, I say take.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
Them, take it.

Speaker 1 (23:36):
Take So I mean, I don't know, do you follow
college football? Are you're a college football fan, you just
watch it when it's on. Do you have a team?

Speaker 2 (23:44):
I do Hawaii. They played a good, good U c.
L A team. They lost. They were sixty thirty the
whole the whole game goes up into the fourth quarter.

Speaker 1 (23:54):
And that's the thing about the Rainbow Warriors. It's like
he want to get down with him and everybody's happy
and proud, but they don't finish. Like do I got
to get Tommy Chang to come out of retirement? Yeah?
In fact, devon best at wide receiver. Like these guys
are geriatric right now and they can't even we can't
hold lead. UCLA came and were sloppy and and just

(24:16):
didn't look like they overlooked this opponent. And then maybe
they're catching word about what their crosstown ravel USC is
doing to LSU and beating them up. Yeah, maybe that's
what it was. But I'm like, I feel bad because
I want the Rainbow Warriors to to succeed. But you
have to beat quality opponents before people look your way.

(24:37):
Otherwise people are flying out here. Oh just going I'm
gonna go to a luau. I'm just gonna go to
the beach and then we're gonna beat up on the
Rainbow Warriors. Oh yeah, yeah, it's just it's sad to see,
you know.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
I was just but I think the main reason why
they came on sloppy.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
I think it was just a jet light coming to
him from California coming in.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
It's different.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
It's hot Ornion though it's not from It's not from
you know, Florida or New York, you know what I mean.
Like it's it's a little bit of jet lag. First
game of the season, jitters maybe, but regardless, the Rainbow
Warriors played well out to win that game until it
but it mistakes, you know, I don't know, you blame
the coach, you blame.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
The players, pennedies a lot of penalties.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
But I mean that's I want to see them on
the map. And it's like every time there's a good
squad coming out of here, out of these islands, then
they meet big boy competition and then our big boys
don't seem like big boys versus you know, some of
these big twelve sec cats. You know, yeah, you couldn't
even hang with the Organs and definitely don't what USC

(25:44):
You can't even take U c l A right, you know,
Like again, I'm just I'm hating because I'm sitting behind
the mic and have a platform, so I get it,
you know whoever I want to. But it's it's all good.
Like I said, it's just kids in the day, and
for me, I am happy to see meaningful football coming up.

(26:05):
That's a big deal. We're gonna take a quick commercial break.
But when we come back, what is going on in
the WNBA. Is the Rookie of the Year race already over?
We're gonna find out.

Speaker 4 (26:25):
Isn't it crazy how every commercial sounds just like this
when there's an action movie. Your entire life, it's been
the same guy that talks just like this, and then
here comes Lee and Neeson and taken eight.

Speaker 5 (26:38):
You've gone too far. You're entering a world of guns
just like you love because this is America. So keep
on watching because here comes an explosion.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
Oh yeah, oh lod.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
Explosion gun movie comes to a theater near you this Friday.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
Explosion gun movie is not a real movie. We're not
coming out this Friday, all right, folks, welcome back to
the Big Island Sports talk Show and your hosts Matt
Parker and brother Noel. Here. So twenty one, we are
having a lot of fun. It's w NBA talk, man,
A let me just read your stat line, brother, Noel
real quick forty one points, seventeen rebounds, for of which

(27:20):
are offensive rebounds on seventy percent field goals. Like is
Kareem come back and plays? He is? Bill?

Speaker 2 (27:28):
Is that Michael's daughter?

Speaker 1 (27:31):
Goodness, man, that's that's Asia Wilson man Las Vegas, and
I cannot wait to see her play in person. But
man against the Phoenix Mercury victorious ninety seven to seventy nine,
just putting it on them, seventy percent from the field,
the clear best player. She will be a three time
w NBA MVP at the end of the season. And

(27:54):
I don't even think it's close. But I just I'm
glad people know the name, and I'm glad we're talking
about it here on this podcast because the WNBA there's
some ballers, man, they are, But the real baller is
Caitlyn Clark. Rookie of the Year or injuries? What do
you think?

Speaker 3 (28:10):
That's a tough one. I like Clark, how far she came.
I was so how much she grew to get to
this point. Like the beginning, you think though the game
was too.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
Fast for her.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
Then it looked like she is slowing down for her,
and I wouldn't be surprised if she did get it.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
Absolutely. I mean, she's already making w NBA history. Twelve
double doubles is the most by a guard in history
WNBA history. The Fever have a winning record the first
time since twenty sixteen, so that's a big deal. She
just passed the most three pinners by a rookie, passed
Ryan Howard with the eighty five made in the season.

(28:49):
And it's just and this amazing thing to see, like
from the range, the skill set you mentioned, the game
is slowing down for her. She leads the league and assists.
It's I mean, it's an amazing thing. It's a good
for the league, and I'm glad. You know, there's always
going to be some drama. You hear Chryl swoops and
you know they're just they're just there's always going to
be something. When you're the best at your game, the

(29:11):
best at your craft, there's going to be people taking
shots at you. So to me, I say, just keep
your head down and I hope that we continue to
see just wonderful play out of her. Yes, it is
really cool. To see one of these days. Don't get
the money that they deserve as long as the viewership
is going. But got a quick segment of showing me

(29:33):
the money we were talking about earlier. Brandon Ayuk finally
got paid by the forty nine ers four year extension
one hundred and twenty million dollars seventy six million dollars,
Oh guaranteed.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
Show me the month, Show me the month.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
Ceedee Lamb agrees to a four year, one hundred and
thirty six million dollar extension with one hundred million.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
Dollars million dollars.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
Dollars, show me them money, show me the money. And
then Steph Curry signs a one year extension with the
Golden State Warriors. Sixty two point six million dollars for
one year. My goodness, the money is crazy, man, crazy
working on my fundamentals more man, that's well here working

(30:19):
on vodcasts and I should have been working on dribbling
with my off hand. But I gotta ask. I just
saw this for preseason basketball. I know football is about
to start, but I saw On October fifth, this is
reported by ESB and Honolulu that the LA Clippers will
be taking on the Golden State Warriors out here in

(30:39):
the Islands at Simplify Arena. How about that?

Speaker 2 (30:43):
Oh nice?

Speaker 1 (30:44):
I mean, I know it's just preseason basketball and you know,
starters man't even see. But how cool is this Like
the first time since twenty seventeen that this is this
is happening. And I'm like, how cool would it be
to jump over, you know, a few islands and go
see to say Paul George but he ain't there no more.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
You know, no mo, no mo, no mo.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
Bro Jackson, you go see an old James Harden with
his walker going up the court and his gray beard
why Leonard getting his knees ice, that's all on this,
all on this you can watch him because you know
Steph Curry ain't playing, and now you don't even get
to see Klay Thompson. Oh you'll probably will get to
see Draymond Green trip that old James Harden and then

(31:26):
pretend like you didn't do anything. So Stephaniah, I just clowned.
But I just think it's it's pretty funny for me
to see. It was pretty cool to see the LA
Clippers and the Warriors coming all the way out here
to the Islands for preseason ball. I mean if I
had a son or daughter that was interested in basketball,
I would go take him over just to just to

(31:48):
go see the experience, you know.

Speaker 2 (31:50):
Oh yeah, definitely.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
I do have a question once, jup, back to the
fantasy thing real quick. Do you do trades in fantasy football?
That's do you just draft your team and you just
stick with them, or you waiver wire or do you
propose trades and accept trades? What do you think about that?

Speaker 3 (32:08):
Well, for me, I can try and work the wave
of wire as much as I can. But if I
see something like that's on somebody's team, I'll propose trade.

Speaker 1 (32:21):
Are you going to give a fair trade or are
you just trying to swindle them out of their their goods?

Speaker 3 (32:26):
Oh no, I'm trying to give them whatever they can.
I can they want from me to get what I
want from them.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
Okay, So it's more so about saying I've got a
good team, I feel have a good feeling about this player,
and I'm going to just roll with that and hope
that the trade goes through. Yeah, let me ask you this.
Here's the trade that just went through in my league
last night.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
Oh, let's share it.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
One of our players traded Chris Godwin for Drake London.
Did that person? Did that person do good? Did somebody
get fleeced in that?

Speaker 3 (32:59):
I think London, I'll get him a little bit ranked
higher than than Godwin.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
But it's pretty close. It's pretty close there.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
I thought, I thought he got pleased. I was like,
wait a minute, somebody just gave up Drake London for
Chris Chris Colin. I mean, remember he's throwing the ball.
Tom Brady's not coming back, but we got Baker Mayfield
throwing him that ball. And Chris Godwin, who when he
is there is productive but it gets hurt and London
is he's wasn't he in that Garrett Wilson, Chris o'lave draft? Yeah,

(33:31):
Like I'm just saying, this is the second third year
for these guys to come up and and really make
a name for themselves. So absolutely, I think so.

Speaker 3 (33:39):
I think Drake London got some proving to do. He
didn't do good the last couple of years. Well he
did good, but I know you never did great, you know,
And if Kirsh Cousin can make him great, then then
yeah it was. It would be an unfair trade. But
I gotta see it from my own eyes.

Speaker 2 (33:56):
I just I.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
Just can't say God, because God in putting some work
and he's proven I got it.

Speaker 2 (34:02):
He would give you at ten points.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
Let me just take a look, well ten points. What
I'm saying a Drake London is somebody that can give
you sixteen to twenty points and they do well. I mean,
all we're talking about is seventy eighty yards and a
touchdowns as a wide receiver one. Isn't he wide receiver one?

Speaker 2 (34:19):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (34:19):
You know what I mean. So, and of course you
went and got Kirk Cousins, and of course I mentioned
earlier Michael Pennix Junior sitting behind him. So I would
like to see him, you know, go on.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
You think this is Drake London's breakout year.

Speaker 1 (34:38):
Yeah, I would take him. When I saw that trade
go through, I was just like, well, wait a minute,
what's gone. I would definitely take him. I think somebody
got fleeced in that sense. But let me just let
me just give you Chris Godwin's career stats five hundred
and twenty nine receptions for six thousand, six hundred and

(34:58):
ninety yards. That's twelve point six yards and thirty four touchdowns.
So I mean, you're it wasn't like it was Julio Jones.
They being back in his thing right here. Chris Godwin is, Yeah,
he's been in the league for several years. But I

(35:19):
don't think that I don't think that that that was
a fair trade. So I'm looking here Drake London. Yep,
he's had two full seasons. He's got one hundred and
forty one career reception, so he's already outpacing Chris Godwin
seventeen hundred and seventy one yards, so he's had two

(35:42):
close to one thousand yard seasons, but not quite there.
Their average is the saying, and he's scored six touchdowns.
So Godwin with thirty four, I guess he's got his
gout of way. But that just shows me with that
final number that the majority of Godwin's touchdowns are behind him.
Where has a lot of upside. I mean, he was
a beast at usc SO, but I don't know, we'll see.

(36:05):
I just to bring that up. But I appreciate you
taking time tonight. Thank you for doing this podcast with me.
Episode twenty one is in the books. Thank you for
all our loyal listeners. We're going to try to make
this thing grow. You know I cannot wait to see
what's to come, and let's get it. Chee who and
get out of here, brother Noel three two one. I

(36:44):
think he's a weasel.
