Speaker 1 (00:20):
What is going on? Welcome back to the Big Island
Sports talk show. I am your co host, Matt Parker
here with brother No brother, know how you feeling today?

Speaker 2 (00:28):
We're back O god gut, I'm feeling way good now
since be back.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Baby.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
I'm sorry it's been a while. Listeners. Hey, I thank
you guys for staying with us. I just want to
let you know I am no longer.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
On the Big Island.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Oh yeah, that's okay though, because we're still here. I'm
in the Ninth Island. I moved to Las Vegas and
you're thinking, oh, you still gonna do the podcast.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Yes, we're gonna do the podcast. We've got too much
sports to talk about. We are in I'm not leaving
my brother, no hanging Thank you so much for hanging
around and you know, texting me keeping me updated what's
going on in your life.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
I am glad to finally get set up. I ran
into some issues.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
My monitor got cracked in the move, so I had
to get a new monitor.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
So I'm trying a different set up today.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
So my camera's way up here, my second monitors here
where I can see you thing. But I just it's
been so crazy, like we went to Denver, went to
the Usher concert, which was great for my anniversary, so nice,
you know, it was it was, It was good. But
it's been so hectic with just trying to get this
house put together and learn this new city.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
This this place.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Bro, people drive so crazy here, Like you know, Big
Island down the highway forty five miles an hour. They
got boulevards that go fifty you know what I mean
the highway. I was driving seventy miles an hour and
I was getting passed up by minivans.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Bro, Like this is crazy, you know, Like move over, Grandma.
Just how you grab up here? One hundred miles an hour?

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Yeah, somebody called me Anti. Somebody was hauling a boat
just zoomed right by me. I'm over here, white knuckling,
white knuckling, just holding.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
On, just like shaking me. I'm like, whoa, you know, Like,
but you know what, we got it in our hearts.
Maybe we're ready to rock. I mean we've been waiting
for this, man, We've been waiting for this.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Before we get into the NFL, though, I want to
know about your fantasy team, man, how.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Are you doing.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
One of of my tree teams is two and oh
and uh, the other two is one in one.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Okay, well, at least you have a win on the season.
I'm currently oh and two, so yeah, oh and two.
And you know what, I blame the tight ends.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Man.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
What's going on with the tight end position this year?
There's no good ones man, boo, there's no good ones.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
You know what I got.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
I drafted Jake Ferguson and with the Cowboys, and of
course he got hurt, so I had him, and then
I picked up your tight end for the Rams. Bro
they messed out and.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Don't throw him the ball or what? You got nothing?

Speaker 2 (02:52):
I think so because we don't have receivers no more.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
And that's why I thought, oh, Cooper Cuff is out
and the pooka the who obviously got injured in the
first game, so he was out. I thought, oh, for sure,
Matt Stafford is about to get his tight end involved. Wrong.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
So the reason why I'm ohing too is because my
lack of production of the tight end position. Between the
two weeks, they got me four point six points between
one point seven and you do the math.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Not good, but you know what, we.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Draft the team. It's still early. I much rather start
ohing too and then finished strong.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Finished strong. That's it.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
But I mean the injuries are piling enough for everybody.
I mean we mentioned Cooper cup and and Nakua.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
How is that for your Rams this early in the season. Obviously,
the first game they went to they went to Detroit, right,
it was the Master Jared Goff game, and came up
short in that game. But this last game against the
the Arizona Cardinals, I was not expecting a beatdown like that.
Talk to me how you feeling?

Speaker 2 (03:55):
It was crazy?

Speaker 5 (03:56):
Well, ever since the Detroit game, two of them last
two of my tackles was out on the line. Then
after that game too more went out on injury by
center and my left guard. So the line has been hurricans. Yeah,
if you don't give Matthew Stafford time, it's going to
be a long day. And just so happens in Arizona,

(04:17):
it was a long day.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
Now, I understand that, because you know, we always think
about skill positions. Obviously in fantasy that's who you draft,
right quarterback, skill positions.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
You want to make sure that's on lock. But you're
absolutely right.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
You need a strong offensive line that has some sort
of chemistry, especially in you know, division games like They
had won eight straight games against the Cardinals before that
beatdown was forty something like that, and I almost almost bet
on that game. I'm so glad I didn't. I'm thinking, oh,
this is a lot like the Rams.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Always I did.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
I was guarantee within, but as you know, in the NFL,
nothing's guaranteed.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
You know, No, you're right, well, some things are definitely.
It is the injuries.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
And one thing I will say though, that offensive the
injuries to your offensive line, it didn't have anything to
affect with Kyler Murray and his first round draft pick,
future Hall of Famer. I say, Marvin Harrison Junior, he
showed up and showed out. I mean he just looked.
He looked like Larry Fitzheron in his prime.

Speaker 5 (05:18):
You know, I guess yeah, So I like that kid.
He's a little bit bigger than his dad, more physical,
more strong. Route running is the same.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
It's just Junior is just more more physical. Now you
can just see it on on the field. His presidence
alone is it is crazy. He's gonna be a He's
going to be a star in this league. I like
the balls on this guy.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
Make make you feel like you wish you had a
Jalen Ramsey back there to shut him down. But nope,
he's gone.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
He's gone. He's in Miami.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
He's getting the money.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
They said, show me the money. Well, but not for
my rounds. A lot of injuries that's going around the league.
And it's crazy how much injuries there is, and the
just it's only what week two and so much, so
much injuries. It was just crazy. It's it's a weird
year to start off.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
I got a list. I got a list for you.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
I took some notes here, so we start with the
always hit hurt list, because some of these names you're
gonna hear and be like, no surprises there already knew.
Joey Bosa, no surprise, Nick Bosa, no surprise. I don't
know what it is with them. I'll take the wat
brothers over the Bosa brothers any day. And that's not
just because I think one of them a.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Little bit racist. No, that's one hundred.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
I got TJ. Wattwall just mentioned him. Keenan Allen, we
told you, hello, is this thing on?

Speaker 2 (06:42):
We told you we didn't imagine that before the fantasy drafts.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
We did, we did, and we also said he'd be
a big target he'd get looks he is getting open
before the injury bug went down. I think it was
a toe or heel or something like that.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
But then I've got names like Miles Garrett, right, that's
the defensive player of the year last year. Jordan Love
went down in that game, which Malik Willis did step
in the trade from the Titans quarterback came in and
got the win last week, which cost me one of
my parlays.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
I won't forgive them for that.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
By golly, he's a weasel.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
But I do think they beat up on the Titans tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
But I wasn't gonna touch the game AJ Brown, which
I benefited greatly from AJ Brown going down because I
do have DeVante Smith, so you know, he did nice.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
That worked out for you nicely.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
It was good even though they lost the Falcons game
or the yeah, the Falcons game Monday night football.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
That was a crazy game.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
So Ramadze had some issues to already. That's Caleb Williams,
you know, his young first round talent right there went down.
Mercedes Lewis is on this list, but look, I'm gonna
give him a pass because the guy is forty years
old oldest Lebron James and he's still out there. I
couldn't believe he was on the field. They put him
down blocking. Here's a big one.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
I haven't mentioned Christian McCaffery that most people picked him
number one in the draft, and rightful.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
A lot of people pack them number one in the draft.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
And his his achilles is hanging on by a thread.
Is it's a calf this, it's it's tightness, soreness.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Here might not be too like we eight and Dey'll say,
and you know what the.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Forty nine ers who are in a win now situation.
That coupled with Brandon Nyuk, who's still rusty, who's healthy,
he's not on this list. But his counterpart, Deebo Samuels
is who's going to be out right for a couple
of weeks. We just found that out. And now they're
saying George Kittle.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Is doubtful to play. Yes, you know I told you
about George Kittle.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
Almost I had to kind of eat it a little
bit because he did score a touchdown on seven catches
for seventy six yards in that loss against the Vikings.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
But man, do the Niners look pedestrian? Which is good
for you?

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Right? It was good for me.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
Old job about Kittle, Stay away from Kittle.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
I told you it's it's it's an every year thing.
You know. If you don't catch on by no, shame
on you. You know.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
And this is coming from two guys who had killed
right what not?

Speaker 2 (09:01):
Just I did? I had him last year. I didn't
want a piece of him exactly.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
And the thing is when you have a player like
him and Kelsey who is not hurt, but it's also underperforming.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
I don't know what's going on. Patrick Mahomes. Yeah, they're
winning their undefeated, but he's just not getting his boards ball.
But you can't take them out of your lineup because
they do have the potential to go for nine catches,
ninety seven yards and two touchdowns, right, So you can't.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
You're almost handicapped because you have those big star tight ends.

Speaker 5 (09:27):
So well, its kind of from last year. He was
going downhill, Travis Kelce, he wasn't getting the ball as much.
My brother in law had him last year, and yet
co co met on his bench while co Comet was
blowing up.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
He didn't want to play him. I was like, why
would you play co Comet's he's hot, He's on a
two game, scoring maybe fifteen to twenty points a game. Well,
don't you plumb me? He's like, no, my brother in law.
I was like, I put that's my up one pig,
and I bet you know him because I picked up first,
looked like an idiot if I bet him, man and

(10:06):
he blows up yeap. So it's a kind of hard
thing to do to put him in.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
It is whether they say pride cometh before the fall
and some people are going to sit on it.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
Now.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
I'm not in any survivor leagues, you know, when you
keep the players over, you know, do this.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
But yeah, these injuries have definitely got people stressing because brother, no,
I didn't even realize how much money was in these
kind of leagues, right, Like, I'm in one fifty dollars league, right,
I think the winning pot is four hundred, four hundred bucks,
four hundred fifty bucks something like that in our league.
But man, so many people put thousand dollars into their leagues.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
You know, that's crazy, that's crazy.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
Yeah, So I can understand, you know, people actively searching
the waiver wire and stressing this early in the season.
For us, again, it's the entertainment value, so you know,
you could rebound. You could search the waiver wire, you
can you know, coerce somebody to trade and you know,
getting a rebound. But in the real NFL times you

(11:03):
talk about surprise team starting zero to two, the Baltimore ravenings.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
What's going on? Oh as my quarterback too.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
There's a lots of readers there, lots two grinding me
sh oh lod.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
Yeah, yeah, and came back? Was it seventeen seventy seventeen three?
And let him come back?

Speaker 3 (11:22):
I thought Baltimore was supposed to have defense. Hey, ray Lewis,
can you come down and help these guys out right here?

Speaker 5 (11:27):
Because they can't give him a give them a speech
or something.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
Canson in the back. Ye, man, this is ever. That's
one thing. But yeah, man, my quarterback Lamar Jackson. Look,
I got his numbers right here. Let me just tell
you so he's currently ranked seventh out of the quarterbacks
right there, which for a two time and one time
unanimous MVP.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
You're thinking, okay, that's maybe a little bit down, yere.
I don't know where Mahomes is, but let me just
read it as numbers. First game, two hundred and seventy
three yards passing one touchdown, one fumble, twenty seven point
one point.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
You're like, okay, perfect.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
And then against Las Vegas two hundred and forty seven
yards good, one touchdown, one interception, eighteen point three eight points.
Now I drafted this guy like third right, so I'm like, Rah,
you've got to be getting me twenty five plus right there,
especially in the absence of these tight ends.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
That's that's not producing for me. So you know, I'm
I'm still hanging in there. I don't even like to
look at the projections and see where they're at, because
you know, I've got a solid team. B Jeon Robinson,
who produced this guy was averaging eight and a half
yards of carry against the Philadelphia Eagles, who can't stop.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
Nobody on the ground. You know, if they stopped giving
him the ball, and I see Tyler Algieer out there
buff and taking goal line carries away, I'm.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
Just like, my goodness. Like I mentioned Devonte Smith, I've
got Jalen Waddle, who you know, has a tough matchup
this week against against Seattle. They have two great shutdown corners,
so we'll.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
See Shattle's tough. They're these tough.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
I did get one. I'll tell you once. I think
I may have fixed my tight end. My twin brother,
who we talked about last I kept his identity, you know,
quiet because I thought he got fleeced the last time.
But it turns out he was right.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
He traded Drake London for Chris Godwin, and Chris Gotlin
has been going.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
Off, so is going on.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
That's that's Biggs mifeuse new best friend right there.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Yeah man, And to my surprises, the Bucks, Tom Brady
come back.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
They going to the super.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
Bowl and what.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Yeah, that's crazy. There's a lot of new surprising teams
coming up to be aware of.

Speaker 5 (13:36):
But it just has been Oh it's been a roller coaster.
It's only been two weeks and it's it's been a
roller coaster, not just for fantasy or for the NFL.
It's off too.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
Yeah man, No, I'm all for it because we like parody.
And of course, like I said, you got seventeen regular
season weeks, there's plenty of time. But we do know
if teams that start zero and two, the percentage goes
down for making the playoffs. Right, and Lamar Jackson is
the first MVP since two thousand and two. That's Kurt
Warner to start the season zero and two, right, they

(14:08):
blasted that right on him as soon as he left. Yeah,
I thought they had a chance to win that game.
But you know how I feel about John Harball.

Speaker 3 (14:14):
I just don't think he can coach.

Speaker 4 (14:16):
By golly, he's a weasel.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
I think he's over the hill, you know what I mean.
And then you look at his brother who comes in
with the Chargers to and oh.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
Seventeen, and he rebuilt that team, literally got guss Edwards,
got JK. Dobbins, Ak Dobbins going off, and j J.
Nobody wanted to touch him in my in my, in
my league. And now he was the hot waiver wire
from week one.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
That was crazy when summrsaults into the end zone the first.

Speaker 5 (14:45):
Oh, like I ain't touch you, to the music, He's
gonna fall on, break his a cl or crafting achilles.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
They even got rid of him, poor reason. You're right,
he definitely had the injury bug there. But now I'm
starting to think maybe it's it's something going on with
those Ravens running back, because I think everybody's surprised that.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
I think they're good. It's just I don't think they
should have went for Derrick Henry he's good. They should
have keep JK. Dobbins and Gus Edwards last year. Dude,
did they good with aut them.

Speaker 5 (15:15):
I don't know why they brought Henry, and I think
it's slowing them, slowing the pace down for them. I'm
not explosive on the run game as much as what
we used to seeing port the Ravens, but I like
the way Jim Harbor was doing it. Man, he's doing
old school, He's like, but he just can't do it.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
Passed the ball fifty sixty times.

Speaker 5 (15:37):
I'm gonna get my running back twenty five to maybe
thirty carries a game. Man, I'm gonna beat you by
playing solid defense and running the ball clock management, and I'm.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
Not a shape to show it. I'm not gonna run
it down the throad and it's just how are you
gonna stop me?

Speaker 1 (15:54):
No, that's a great point he said, mentioned clock management,
and I think that's what the other hardball John coach
of the Ball.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
Ravens does not have.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
Maybe he should be listening to his brother, because I
feel like it's just like.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
Oh, Lamar, go get him, you know. And I know
Lamar is now a veteran quarterback.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Like we mentioned two time MVP already. But the Ravens
didn't lack they just lack balance. It seems like you
said you mentioned JK. Dobbins and Gus Edwards. They now
they've other. Harriball has both of them. They could really
use that change of pace to hit them, hit them
and then play keep away. Right, have the option of

(16:30):
Lamar because Lamar slimmed down, he wants to be faster.
He had a little bit of an injury bug himself too.
But it's like you want to play keep away with
some of these teams, eat away the clock. That's what
Philadelphia was doing to the Falcons on Monday night. And yeah,
you know, nineteen minutes to nine I think was the
time difference for those teams in the second half.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
And now they're probably kicking themselves because of you know,
how it came down. But honestly, like you said, it's parody.
It's good for us to see up and down. If
we report back in two weeks and the Ravens right
the ship and the Chargers fall off, which they might
because that's the.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
History of them doing you never know, that's the good
thing up on sports, Yeah, never know.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
And Justin Herbert has a high ankle sprain right now,
which we know how detrimental that could be. That sometimes
is a multiple week injury. So they're not even sure
if he's going to play against the Steelers tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
So we'll see. But what about the Steelers, man two
and No, they beat up on my Broncos in a sluggish,
rubbish bone type game.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
That was a good game, man, that was a good game. Man.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
I was like, I look, I knew coming to the season, right,
I predicted what my team nine to eight missing the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
I might have to redact that.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
Man, we might be eight and nine because my team
ain't going nowhere.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
Oh lord, with.

Speaker 3 (17:48):
Sean Payton and bow Knicks.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
Man, I mean, I get he's a rookie and I'm
gonna give him all sorts of grace that I can.

Speaker 3 (17:55):
But some of the stuff I've seen is just fugly.
It's not even ugly, it's fugly, you know, the the
way he sees the field.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
And then I look at a guy like Jade Daniels
for the Commanders. He should have gone first, the way
he's escaping.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Now you say he hasn't a touchdown things, he's just
in the third and it's just like, Hey, I got
some news for you. Watch the kid play. He's seen.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
They're gonna be fine. Comando's gonna be fighting.

Speaker 5 (18:29):
The defense might not be fine, but the commanders will
be fighting now down the fire apart too. That that
that kid, Brian Robinson, Man, yeah, that kid is for real.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
Man.

Speaker 3 (18:40):
Who talk about somebody that's running the ball hard?

Speaker 1 (18:43):
Like if I could get a little bit more of
that from Derrick Henry.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
And you know, Derrick Henry gets stronger.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
As you go along, so he needs his touches. And
offensive coordinator Todd Munkin doesn't really seem to have caught
onto that, you know what I mean. I know he
came from Georgia and everything. It's his second year. But Brian,
and this man got shot.

Speaker 3 (19:01):
He got shot, he got shot.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
He runs the ball with attitude. Man, I love that
about him. I'm gonna I'm gonna run right in this hole.

Speaker 5 (19:11):
I want you to meet me in this whole and
we're gonna see who's gonna take yards away? Am I
gonna get yards? Are you gonna my money's yards for me?

Speaker 2 (19:20):
You know? But the way he runs, man, wow, man,
I just love the way he runs strong, low to
the ground, physical, explosive and once he hit that hole
and he and he breaks that one tackle off. That
kid can run.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
He's got speed to burn. And you're right, it's it's
old school Oklahoma drill. Like you said, meet me in
the hole.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
And I liked that. And you know, well back.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
When Washington then excuse me, Redskins team, that's what they
were built on, right, they were going.

Speaker 2 (19:49):
To run the hog Molly's York throat.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
Yes, And and I think for me that's the position
that got me into the NFL in nineteen ninety six.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
Terrell Davis.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
I'd love to see a running back break one for
forty fifty yards through the tackles, a stiff farm down
the sideline, out running safeties and linebackers with poor angles.
That's the kind of football I love. And I know
we're in a passing league now.

Speaker 5 (20:11):
As a matter of fact, if you still need a
tight end, Zach kurtz Man, that's a good that's a
good guy. Forget because Jenny Daniels is checking it down
and that's this guy that he checks down too. So
if you need helping a tight end, not you, we
think you should go take a look at that guy.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
Well, I would, and you know, he had a little
bit of an injury bug too, But I think I
got it. I mentioned my.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
Twin brother earlier, he dropped Brock Bowers, and I got him.

Speaker 3 (20:37):
I got him, So I should at least.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
Get more than let's say, five and a half six
points out of this rookie tight end. We knew he
was a generational talent coming in this draft.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
He could dig coming you.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
I couldn't even believe it. So yeah, I'm gonna just
take a look real quick. Yeah, so I got Brock Bowers.
He's got his targets for this season right here. He's
currently raped second out of the tight end position. Just
so you know, he's got fifteen receptions on seventeen targets. Okay,
so six of eight targets the first week eight point

(21:11):
eight points, so nothing crazy, but nine of nine targets
against Baltimore ravens ninety eight yards. No touchdowns yet, but
you know they're going to continue to feed him. He
works the middle of the field and he's draggon defenders along.
Just he looks like he's back at Georgia. So yeah,
so I just want to throw that out there, thank you.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
That's a big. That's a good score, man, that's a
good good score.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
Man, it's his physical He's fast though, don't get me wrong.
Like you said, a generation player is well, what he
did last week was against Baltimore for all teams cheering
right now?

Speaker 3 (21:49):
Yeah, dragon folks. And again, like you said, Gardner, Vin,
she was getting in the ball. You got quarterbacks like
Derek Carr.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
You think the Raiders obviously, I mean they're they're doing okay,
they back on Baltimore, But do you think they want
Derek Carr to come back?

Speaker 3 (22:03):
Like he's car right now?

Speaker 2 (22:06):
You know?

Speaker 5 (22:07):
Did you see the thing that they got from Dallas?
God geez, it's correct.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
Dak Prescott currently the highest paid player in NFL history,
looking like the same old Dakoby, you know, the same
old Dack. You know, CD got his money too, and
he's still losing forty one to seventeen something like that too.

Speaker 3 (22:28):
So I look, I'll just be bro I took.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
Now that I'm living in Vegas, I could say I
took the Ravens minus one tomorrow to beat the Cowboys
head in, because we I don't believe Dak Prescott is
ever going to Winnstuper.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
Take hot take ladies and genmen. You got a hot take.
I like the balls on this guy hot take.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
So hey, you got some extra money right there. You know,
somebody out of town in a betty state take the Ravens.
I bet you that line moves. I guarantee it probably
moves to two and a half three points over.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
Not two to tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
Yeah, I couldn't believe it was only minus one.

Speaker 1 (23:02):
Lamar Jackson had one of the best games he ever
played against the Cowboys on the road, and they're gonna
be in Dallas.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
I think it's good for them.

Speaker 1 (23:08):
They got embarrassed at home last week, so they need
to get on the road. It was John Harball's birthday.
I saw it on Twitter today. They got some T shirts.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
They're gonna play good hard for their coach.

Speaker 3 (23:18):
Now they're gonna play. I think it's gonna be the
Derrik Henyon.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
Derrick Henry just beat tire out Michael Parson so that
he's running side to side, and then Lamar Jackson to
Jay Flowers over the top.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
Trayvon Diggs got interception. Gotta turn off already this season.
Darn Bland. Who's their nickel? You know, excellent corner.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
These guys are great, but Trayvon Diggs guesses and Jay
Flowers is a speaster, so I'm thinking he's going deep
and Lamar has.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
Got he's gonna double move him. Go deep.

Speaker 3 (23:50):
The Ravens lose to the Cowboys and go oher to three.
John Harball should be on the hot seat, I think so.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
I think so. I don't care if even though he
has the VP from last year, it doesn't shows this
year though, like the Lost Patrick Queen, the lost Summer
of their d they can't stop the run, yeah, clearly
and then, and they're being known to do that for
years now. So it's going to be a crazy one.

Speaker 3 (24:15):
If I'm justin Fields and the Pittsburgh Steelers, who I
think locked up that job? I think Russell Wilson.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
I think, so hold his clipboard, get his money from
the Broncos, get his one point two million from the Steelers,
and just clap his hands for Justin Fields. If I'm
justin Field, I'm looking my chops at running the ball
RPO against the Ravens.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
Are you kidding me? Like?

Speaker 1 (24:34):
And you talk about a surprise two and oh for
those guys. Now they're winning ugly ball games, but it's
just to the point you made earlier, which is control
the clock, physicality. Meet him at the point. And and
Mike Tummlin does not get enough credit. I know he
only has to won Super Bowl and it was a
long time ago, but never had a losing record.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
The guy gets his guys ready.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
And he's one of the best coaches out there.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
Oh absolutely absolutely. And he you never hear his name mentioned.

Speaker 1 (25:01):
Up there, you know with the Sean Payton's Sean Payton,
I thought bow Nicks was your guy, man, what happened?
Oh yeah, we baited the Minnesota Vikings to get in
JJ McCarthy and now you got Boat Knicks over here
with the worst quarterback rating worse than Caleb Williams, which
Cayler Williams. I think now people are starting to understand
it wasn't Justin Field's fault. Chicago just does not protect

(25:23):
their quarterbacks. He has got no time to throw the ball.
But again, if I'm looking at my Broncos and I'm
seeing just this pissed, poor just offense just not getting started.
We can't run the ball, and now we're asking our
rookie quarterback to push the ball down the field.

Speaker 3 (25:38):
And a system I just don't think he has a
grip on and you know, watch him with your own eyes.
It's it's good.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
I mean, I wasn't predicting a you know, twelve and
five season and winning that division, sneaking.

Speaker 3 (25:51):
It from the from the Chiefs. But man, it's looking
ugly and I think, like Sean Payton, you better get
it right, is all I'm saying right there. Because Bronco
fans they don't like the boisterous running your mouth with
no results.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
Yeah, they need to learn.

Speaker 3 (26:10):
They're not putting up with it. So you know, I
know we're all over the place, but this is the NFL, baby,
and this is what we was waiting for.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Like I was, like I said, I had to get
in this episode before Week three starts.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
I had to get your opinion to make sure that
you were doing good, to make sure you're watching and
your fantasy team is doing all right. But man, this
is this has been one heck of a season thus far.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
It is it is. It's a crazy season. It's like
every year, it's a crazy season.

Speaker 3 (26:37):
Well let me ask you this, and this is more
on a serious note because you know, unfortunately the world
had to witness another to a concussion and it was
it was.

Speaker 1 (26:48):
It was pretty bad the way he kind of you know,
one thing you never do and I know you know
his son's playing the running back this year.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
Never put your head down into contact and.

Speaker 1 (26:56):
You know never besides that, and show him that video
and as to what not to do. But I'm really
glad in bravo to be a Dolphins for keeping him
out so that he can get through concussion protocol and
put him in an injured reserve. I don't want to
see him on the field after after two to three weeks,
but give him the full four weeks out reevaluate him then.

Speaker 2 (27:18):
But I say shut him down for the whole year. Yeah,
what hit?

Speaker 3 (27:21):
The question I was going to ask you is would
you like to see to it tongue Bloa retire.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
I want to see him to sit out this year.
I want the Dolphins to see him out this year
and see how he goes because seventeen games, it's the
NFL is brutal, man, it's a man's sport. I think
he should clear his head for one year. See the
way is that and if he's not responding the way

(27:48):
that you think that he is supposed to respond in
situation and stuff like that. I say, shut him down.
I think it's time to retire, because no man's life
deserves that.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
You know, we, unfort we have seen the effects of CTE,
and it seems to be happening not only more frequently,
but sooner in people's lives. Like I remember one of
the biggest cases was you know, Hall of Fame linebacker
Junior Say out right, the Patriots and the Dolphins and.

Speaker 3 (28:17):
You know the Chargers before that, San Diego. You know,
his his family they saw the change in it, but
they had no idea, right and of course you don't
really get to see these these brading scans until you know, unfortunately,
after that athlete passes away. I think, you know, technology
has got a little bit better now you have teams
using the guardian caps.

Speaker 2 (28:35):
Yeah, you know.

Speaker 3 (28:36):
Jabrill Pepper's safety, you know, wearing his throughout and I
like to see that, but you're right, I don't want
to see his quality of life go. You know, that's
why Teddy Bridgewater he came out and he's a high
school coach saying that's why he retired. You know what
I mean, He's like, I don't want the last thing
image for my kids to see me getting carried off
a field in a stretcher. And when you when you
talk about a brain injury, you mean, you're right. You're

(28:58):
so much more than just a football player. You're a
football player for five hours on a Sunday, right, that's
your profession. But you have so much more life. And
we talked about it.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
Life is not Life is more important than this game.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
I think, no, And I'm glad he got his money.
I'm glad that he did get his contract at the end.
I don't know what the buyout would be if he decided,
but he himself said he has no plans to retire.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
But I mean, plus he constantly keeps on having those
uh you getting knocked out every every time. He constantly
having those.

Speaker 5 (29:30):
It is game to the point that when when it's enough,
you know, yeah, and when when somebody's gonna step in
and say enough for ready? Because I know what the
last from last year he had like what almost four
concussions already.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
Yeah, and look, I've had a concussion before. I mean,
in folks listening, you think, okay, what's the concussion that
football players is a rough sport. A concussion is when
your brain is smashing against the inside of your skull.
Your skull is rattling around in your head. That's why
sometimes you get the disneyness to vomiting. That's why it's
so dangerous for you know, people to fall asleep after

(30:09):
And I remember being a sophomore in high school getting concussed.
I wanted to sleep so bad, and you know, the
people around keeping me awake, right, And it became a
big thing because the training staff didn't really recognize that
I was concussed. And I was actually asked by my
coach if I could come back in and I just remember.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
Looking at this man like I, I can't even find
the words to respond to you.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
And I'm very glad that he just told me to
sit down because I didn't know what a concussion was.

Speaker 1 (30:35):
You know, every you play football, you get your bell rung.
You just think, okay, that's it. You get a stinger
in your neck, that's it. But when I saw Tua
and the way he you know, put his neck.

Speaker 3 (30:43):
Down and the way it bent, like bro, like I
just I don't want.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
To see that. And let's think to what is not
a Lamar Jackson. He's not a He's not a scrambling
run around so and the game was a blowout. The
Bills had them handed down. So to see it happen
like that, and it seemed to me, and I could
be very wrong about this, that he was trying to
earn the respect of his team after making an agreed
just pick six error before.

Speaker 3 (31:09):
And it just seemed like was he concussed before, you
know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (31:13):
Fading back and throwing the ball far side of the field.
We know he doesn't have the best arm strength. He
could throw the ball deep, but that ball kind of
hangs up a little bit.

Speaker 3 (31:20):
And so yeah, see that, I'm just like, man, like if.

Speaker 1 (31:24):
If I'm his dad, his family, I'm I'm checking in
on him every day and just thinking like is it
worth it?

Speaker 2 (31:30):
I'll be there next to him. I'll be like, son,
we gotta really think about about your future here now. Yeah.
I don't want I don't want you to be leaving
me before I go, you know.

Speaker 3 (31:40):
Yeah. Yeah, And then I mean I don't know if
he's married or has kids or anything, but.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
They're gonna be taken care of, you know what I mean.
Like he can go go back, go back home. You know,
you got acred, you got farm, you can take care
of your family. Just you know, do the Marcus Mariota
thing and do the insurance commercials.

Speaker 3 (31:58):
You know what I mean, Like, I don't want to.

Speaker 1 (32:00):
He's a legend already the way he stepped in at
Alabama and won the National championship game. Like you know, guys,
guys have done less and have you know ritten?

Speaker 2 (32:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (32:09):
More so. You know when I wrote this down, I
was preparing for this. I just definitely want to get
your inside And I'm really glad we're on the same
page about this because it's entertainment and when I want
to tune into a national televised Thursday night game, that's
the last thing I want to see. And then you
got to get a Skyter Thompson back there, who you know,
backup quarterbacks we know is an issue. Just can't even

(32:30):
you know, move the ball, which is like.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
You know, I'm not gonna hit the right side of
the barn.

Speaker 3 (32:35):
Mike McDaniel is supposed to be this offensive genius and
he just looked like he wasn't having any fun, you
know after that, So.

Speaker 5 (32:42):
Well that shows you to run his offense, you need
you need a good, good, good quarterback. They can stick
it in into tight places.

Speaker 6 (32:50):
And and you got to be smart on his play calling,
and that shows you to us was he's special.

Speaker 2 (33:01):
Don't get me wrong, he is special. And I just
hope he can get his mind set and everything will
be all right.

Speaker 1 (33:08):
From yeah, I mean it's tough, and you know, look,
it's gonna take a quick commercial break and when we
come back, I just got some some WNBA to talk
about it and will close this thing out.

Speaker 7 (33:27):
The beginning of the year can be a stressful time.
Everyone's flaunting their new Year's resolutions and newfound energy. Are
you finding it difficult with the motivation?

Speaker 4 (33:39):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (33:39):
Lad?

Speaker 7 (33:39):
Introducing a company that knows that you're not getting anything
done without the proper motivation, A company that gets it.
Introducing resolution Busters. We specialize in busting other people's resolutions
so that you don't have to feel bad about not
completing yours.

Speaker 2 (33:56):
I like the balls on this gap.

Speaker 7 (33:57):
Do you have an over zealous friend that wants to
run a marathon?

Speaker 4 (34:00):
By golly, he's a weasel.

Speaker 7 (34:02):
How about a sibling that's making you look bad by
flaunting all of their accomplishments. We'll even go as far
as to expose the people who claim they were at
a thousand books in a year. False you did not.
Resolution Busters takes pride in exposing over zealous people to
make everyone feel the same, and for a small nominal
monthly fee, you can be included in that. Instead of

(34:25):
dealing with the stress of keeping up with your friends
and family, how about bringing them down a level so
that your confidence doesn't have to suffer. And and it's
only going to cost you a little bit a month.
But don't take it from my word. Yeah, my hearty
tordy fancy. Sister in law said that she was going
to start a business while I hired resolution Busters and
they exposed her. It turns out she's just sitting on

(34:46):
Facebook a resolution Busters used the approven process that will
expose even the most private citizens. Sign up now for
a monthly newsletter.

Speaker 1 (34:55):
All right, welcome back to the day on a sports
talk show. Matt Parker brother dol Here a lot of football,
But I mean that's our bread and butter, that's where
we get started. But I just want to say, the
w NBA season, the first one I ever tuned into
and watched, has come to a close.

Speaker 3 (35:10):
The regular season, and you know, I just want to playoffs. Man.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
We got the Connecticut son going against the Indiana Fever.
Caitlyn Clark, who is the face of the franchise, even
though they refuse to market her. You know, she set
a lot of records. I got to pull up a
list of records, but before I do, Asia Wilson, I
do think she will be a three time MVP. If
it hasn't already been announced, I believe it will be.

Speaker 2 (35:34):
So.

Speaker 3 (35:34):
She set the single season record for most points score
the first thousand point season and in NBA his w
NBA history, Wow, set the record for the most rebounds
in the season. The number I saw last time was
four hundred and fifty one, passing rookie Angel Reese. So
I just wanted to give a shout out to both
of those women who put it down.

Speaker 1 (35:55):
Kelsey Mitchell, which is Kaitlyn Clark's backpart. Mitchell average, I think,
just shy under twenty points a game. Just it's been
absolute joy watching the w NBA and I'm really glad that,
you know, it got as much attention as it did.

Speaker 3 (36:13):
Outside of the games. There's just some real nasty stuff,
like when I'm on Twitter and you click on it
and you see what people say about these women, and
it's just it's just so nasty. That's the ugly side
of sports. But I'm glad they're talking about it because
that's going to grow the popularity of the game. So,
you know, congratulations to all the playoff teams.

Speaker 1 (36:32):
I would be tuning in to see if the intensity
ramps up the way that the NBA does in the playoffs.
I'm really hoping that's the case because.

Speaker 2 (36:39):
I think it does.

Speaker 1 (36:40):
Okay, well, I'm gonna be watching, especially Connecticut Son and
Indiana Fever. I'm going to see if Caitlin Clark can
come in clutch when when it matters, because she is
the real deal. We've been given her praise. But if
you pull up an upset man, that would be something else.
Because the Connecticut Sun, you know, up there with the
New York Liberty. I think the New York Liberty got

(37:01):
the one seed as at the best record, you know,
and but I think that they're definitely going to get
a couple of games from them because the Fever started
the season, they played like eleven games and like I
don't know, nine days or something. I don't know, it's
something crazy to start. But once after that All Star break,
they got Roland and they started, you know, really, you know,

(37:21):
showing their team chemistry.

Speaker 2 (37:22):
They're jelling aflet through the season.

Speaker 8 (37:25):
You just don't start fighting, fighting about your your new
teammates and how you get jail and how you can
contribute to the team and look like they're clicking and
unfore svends man and.

Speaker 3 (37:38):
It's it's a wonderful thing to see. So I'm excited.
I want to just see here if I can pull
up some of these stats here, because you know, I
couldn't even believe when I was looking at some of
these things, like all the records that Kitlin Clark was
breaking right here. But oh, here's here's my list right here.
So this season league leader and assists per game, league

(37:59):
leader and three pointers the first points per game by
for rookie right there, first and field goals made by
a rookie. Assists per game by a rookie, steals per
game by a rookie.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
Read.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
She was third in rebounds per game by a rookie, nice,
fourth in blocks per game. And this is as a guard.
She's the first rookie with a triple double.

Speaker 2 (38:19):
Oh, lawd broke the single.

Speaker 1 (38:20):
Season assist record, broke the single season a single game
assist record with nineteen. We reported on that most points
by a rookie ever, most assists by a rookie ever,
most three points by a rookie ever, and most All
Star Game fan votes ever.

Speaker 3 (38:42):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (38:43):
You remember, but she just started in the w NBA.
She's turning the ball over. She couldn't couldn't hit nothing,
She couldn't hit no trees. She was kind of struggle.
You looked like the game was too fast for her. Yeah,
but after the All Star break, whoa.

Speaker 3 (39:00):
You know what she said, and remember she was not
on that Olympic team. She said that they woke up
a giant, right, And you know, hats off to head
coach Christie Sides for you know, honing her in and
you know, allowing her to be herself and naturally developed the.

Speaker 1 (39:14):
Leadership you know, for her team. Because we mentioned before
she's a rookie.

Speaker 3 (39:18):
It's gonna you know, gotta get your sticks and you know,
take take your beatings and then you know it'll come.
But I don't know if anyone anticipated you know this,
this this this.

Speaker 1 (39:28):
Huge record setting performance for this and and I'm I'm
going to continue to tune in, like I said, throughout
the playoffs and put it on my calendar.

Speaker 3 (39:36):
So I can say, Okay, I can see it. You know,
even if they get blown out and she shows up
and shows out and shows that she's going to develop
and get.

Speaker 2 (39:44):
I think she is. She's gonna a lot of critics.
I think she's gonna try to shout them up. Radire.

Speaker 5 (39:49):
Oh I'm I'm not good enough for her Olympics.

Speaker 2 (39:53):
Oh you think I was going to be this? Do
you think I'm I'm spoiled? You think I'm all this?
But I think she's gonna approve a lot of guys wrong.

Speaker 3 (40:03):
I'm looking forward to it. And uh, you know, I'm
like I said, this is gonna be we as entertainment
because none of us can ball like that or any
of these ladies in the league. Right, anybody is like
listening to this thinking girls so bluck though you don't know, man,
you it's.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
Different, right, That's great?

Speaker 3 (40:24):
Come on now, just stop right so Brittay and rescue.
She will be raining threes all over you at the park.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
So just to day you know.

Speaker 3 (40:30):
But brother, no, it's so good to see you.

Speaker 2 (40:32):
Man.

Speaker 1 (40:32):
I'm really glad we could jump on this podcast. Beigyond
Sports Talk Show is alive. Brother, Matt coming to you.
I'm brother Matt, Matt her coming to you from the
Ninth Island. I am in Las Vegas, so I'm gonna
be watching this in the sports books up close, trying
to get the inside knowledge and try to blow this
thing up.

Speaker 3 (40:48):
So brother, no, let's get a cheat who and get
out of here.

Speaker 2 (40:50):
Three two, one, oh baby, that was good.
