Speaker 1 (00:21):
What up?

Speaker 2 (00:21):
What up?

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Guys, Welcome back to another Big Island sports talk show.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
I am brother No and oh it's with me, my
main mat not you Parker.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
I'll just man, it's going good here on the Ninth Island. Man,
I'll tell you what I miss you. I'm glad we
get to do another episode today. We got obviously a
lot to talk about. Somebody somebody on this podcast had
a team that won the World Series.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Take me out to the ball game, Take me out
to the crowd.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Uh, but you know we're gonna get into that, and
we definitely gotta cover NBA has started the that's a
big deal for us. Of course we're both basketball heads.
You're currently where the Lakers at, so we're going to
go and yeah, man, we got the NFL, which they
might have a quarterback problem developing problem, but I think
it has a refereeing problem. So went off proses. Let's uh,

(01:16):
let's get started at the top. Man, I want to
hear how are you feeling right now about your Dodgers.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
It was crazy.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
I thought maybe even when it in LA like Card predicted,
I will say it'll be like in Game seven. Yeah,
I thought it was going but they just drop the
ball literally, judge and judge.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
And now we knew he was struggling with the bat,
but I was not expecting, especially in a closeout game,
he had to drop up a routine you know, pop
fly right there. You know, maybe he was sick. Let
me catch this and try to turn a double. He's
got a rocket for an arm. We've seen him throw
people out at the home plate. But because of that error,
not only were they were allowed to get extra base
out of it, but it took the wind out of

(02:03):
the sales for those Yankees that that whole stadium went
quiet after that.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Yeah, both be trying an error to turn base dropping
the ball to over there. Oh like wow, they're they're
actually gonna give us all this. They're gonna actually get
us back into the game. And we started hitting and
we didn't look back from there.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Well, you know, I love sports history and one of
the things like we got to witness in that game
five close out Dodgers were down big. You're talking about
five runs. Yes, what's the biggest comeback in World Series
history in a closeout game?

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Wow, didn't know, doubt nobody.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Was ever down more than five runs to come out
in the close out and win. Yankees had it.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
It was all you had it. I thought there was winning.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
I was like, oh man, maybe we can go back
into La maybe winning in six or seven.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Yeah, but you know what, they weren't hungry, you know what,
and the Dodgers were. They just took it. You know,
when you got a little dog that's got a big
old steak and then the big dog comes over, it's like,
ye ain't gonna eat that. Let me get that from you.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
It just takes it.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
That's essentially what happened. That was a little kid on
the playground who had the lunchable, and then the bully
was just like, no, no, no, no, no no, it's
exactly you eat the uncrustable mond. No. I was happy
for you, obviously, I mean you heard the voice midmo
and sent to you. I knew you were having a

(03:27):
good time. I was just hoping you were being safe,
because you know how it is, your team wins the championship,
you start getting buck wild, and you know you have
a few more drinks than you probably need to. So
I'm glad. I'm glad you were safe and had a
good time. Now tell me about it. Where you're watching
comfortably at home. Were you watching it with family? You
like to isolate yourself when the game's on? What do
you do?

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Oh? All? Was that actually at work? Oh?

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Lord boom? Yeah, so you're watching it workuse you're supposed to.
You're supposed to be on the cloud grinding, and you're
just like when you hide in this corner and watch this.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
Yeah, I'm gonna part great here, I'm gonna watch it Letter.
Then I'm gonna start doing work again. Then watching Letter.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
You know, you know, my golly, he's a weasel.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Well, you know, we published these episodes. I don't want
to put you out or anything, but somebody's gonna hear.
But look, I was like two weeks ago already. You know,
they can't let you go sounds struggling anyway, So I don't. No,
that's good, and you know what, Look, just to recap
for those of you listening here, the La Dodgers going

(04:36):
against the New York Yankees. They closed the series out
for to one in New York after taking the first
three games. Uh, and the history was on their side
after going up three. Oh, there was a very low
percentage for the Yankees to come back, but as we
mentioned earlier, they did. They had it on a te
up five runs in that game five and they were

(04:57):
stifling the Dodgers who are struggling with their pitch. But
you know, it's really, really, really cool to see the
Dodgers get that World Series bug off their shoulder because,
as you know, twenty twenty, a lot of people don't
count that. Right. It's like the Like and Lakers. They
call it the Mickey Mouse Championships.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Because of COVID, right, that COVID year.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Yeah, yeah, But for them to be able to get it.
For Walker Buehler, of all people, to be on the
mound coming back from two Tommy John surgeries and if
you guys don't know, you're not familiar, that is a
debilitating surgery for a pitcher to have. So for him
to not one but two and be on that mound,
for Dave Roberts to trust him to close out that game,

(05:39):
it's huge, huge.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
He did good in New York the first game that
he pitched in New York. His his his mechanicals was good.
His breaking balls was breaking. For our in judge couldn't
hit those breaking balls, and I he get he's used
to pitching in the cold, so why not you know,

(06:04):
and he did. He did real good and to shout
out the game to close out the series.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
No, and the excitement was there is something to behold
for sure, especially for homegrown talent. You know, Dodgers drafted him.
You know, he he's no you know, he's used to
being a champion. He won the twenty fourteen College World
Series in twenty fourteen with the Vanderbilt Commodores, right, and
that we last episode we had, we were talking about
a certain ex Bears and Broncos quarterbacks from Vanderbilt getting

(06:33):
the duy and gun charges. Well, this guy champion coming
out of there, right, and so for him to get
now his second World Series title with the Dodgers, you know,
credit to Dave Roberts, who you know, as a Dodger fan,
was under a lot of heat. Right, But we're now
we're talking about eight NL West titles. Right, that's four
World Series appearances two times. Coming out of that, he's

(06:56):
got a he's got a point six two seven winning
percentage for the regular season and now fifty six career
postseason wins. That's sixth all time. So Dave Roberts has
solidified himself as a great manager. Some would say up
their top ten all time and it shows his team
shows Yeah, seeing that the camera pan to him when

(07:17):
Buehler got that final out, because I'd never seen him
so alive, right, he mostly the reserve, So it was
really really cool to see. And you know, baseball is
a hard sport. Most professional athletes would agree hitting a
baseball is one of the hardest things to do in
professional sports. When I look at Aaron Judge and his
hitting slump, you know that battle was between the ears, right, you.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Go, that's a mental those a mental challenge for him
to get back hitting.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
And he did.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Yeah, yeah, woke up the bear, you know, and he
kind of sit on that breaking bar and he took
your yard.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Yeah, it's good to see for him, But obviously you
know what's gonna happen. I know, you don't really care
what happens with the Yankees roster, but guys like alex
Erdugo and and you know, Opie Soto, they should have
given him a blank check when it was when it
was viable. Maybe he was just one of those pickups
for the year they wanted to win and they were

(08:16):
gonna get off him anyway. But it's I mean, you
still got big bats. Everyone's expecting Aaron Judge to rebound.
Jean Carlos Stanton is gonna come back. He actually had
a phenomenal World Series. Uh so you know, Glavor Torres
probably not going to be back with that team. We'll see.
The thing about it is there's no salary cap in baseball,

(08:36):
right if they if Stein Brennan wants to pay all
these guys.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
You can, right, he's gonna he's gonna.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
Yeah, you got a seven hundred million dollars man on
your roster. Who who did struggle? Right, show him?

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Yeah he did.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
He actually did struggle was Mookie and the rest of
the Freeman Freeman was hot.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Freeman talking about Freddy Freeman, who said a World Series
record with consecutive home runs in games? Is it four
or five games straight straight?

Speaker 1 (09:03):
He hit a homer.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
Yeah, so you're talking about and it's I know we
were We thought it would be show heal time, especially
with the momentum he came in, But it was that
shoulder injury when he was sliding into second. It was
Game three or Game four that really kind of took
the wind out of his sales. But even then he
was still out batting. Aaron judge right, so right, you know.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
But Freddy Freeman, man, he was struggling all true the
playoffs in the wild card, I mean all through the playoffs,
and I was like, man, is he's in a slump.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
And as soon as the World Series came around.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
They walked, they walk Mookie through all the bases to
game game one, to win, to actually win the game one,
and he took it yard and I was like, wow,
if this kid, if Freddy can get us, get us going,
just give us the trophy, us the trophy.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
He never looked bad, never, Yeah, that grand slam, that's
I mean, you're talking to the best way a baseball
game can end.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Like every kid's dream.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
Yeah, right bottom bottom of the night, two outs, game winning,
you're the game winner at that and you took your yard.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
Grand slam that. I still looking, still get the chicken
skins just thinking about it. Yeah, it's amazing to see.
I remember I was sitting there watching on the phone
in the car before we went somewhere, and I'm really
glad that I had eyes on that to see that,
not only because it was amazing to behold, but that
was the first time in World Series history that that's
ever happened. We always you know how much I love

(10:33):
sports history. To see that live, that's one of those
moments where I could say, wow, I remember that, and
against the New York Yankees of all of all teams, right, yeah,
that was an amazing thing. And I was looking back,
I'm like, that's never happened before, like and all the
baseball movies, you know, all the thing. You know, I
grew up with Samlott and.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
All this like that.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
You naturally, yeah, that things would happen, you know, like
that would have happened before, but that was not the case.
So to see him, especially as you mentioned, he was
in a slump. He didn't even play the last series
against the San Diego Padres of the raid was dealing
with the fingers, the hand and whatnot. So it just
goes to show you when you get hot at the

(11:15):
right time, you will be rewarded for it. And it
was a great thing to see. So it was it
was yeah, man, well look let's see if they can
run it back next year.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
You know, it's right, there was a big target on
them too. It's like he got all the potential all
stars on one team. It was it a win or
bus and I'm glad. We I glad we got to
win and shut shut down all the name shares that
was saying that they're too much, they're not gonna win
every No, there's no way to win it. And I

(11:45):
was just happy to see him win.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
They did it, man, and I'm glad you're still glowing
about it. I love it. But that's the thing when
your team, some people, they go their whole lives and
never see a championship. You think about it, Yankees last
championship was two thousand and nine. Okay, I was a
freshman in college at that time. Some there are people
alive who have not seen them prosper. And the Yankees
have the most titles.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
The most titles, thing something like that.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
So it just goes to show you how difficult it is.
And it means even more when the team overcomes what
you know, what happened with Mookie Betts, when those fans
try to literally rip his arm, the the ball out
of his gloves.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
Sorry gloves man, you just.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
Pulled a Michelle Betty right there, Beatle. We're going to
talk about that in a minute, oh on. But but
it's it's it's crazy and for you guys, don't know.
We're referencing in Game four, this is when the Dodgers
are trying to close out the Yankees in Yankee Stadium.
Is a pop fly out to uh right field where

(12:52):
Mookie Bets goes, jumps up into not into the stands,
but oh reaches over into the stands and he's able
to snag the ball. But you have two Yankee fans,
one of them who literally grabs his glove trying to
rip the ball out of his hand, holding him so long.
Another fan is able to reach over and grab his wrist,
and like you think, first of all, don't want to

(13:13):
injure somebody's important. As Mookie bats, which congratulates for him,
he gets his third World Series title, second with the Dodgers.
But two, when you have knucklehead, dumb dumb fans like
that who just feel so entitled, so passionate, as some
people want to say, you can't have that, all right.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Kat, What if he put out his arm or something,
or or hurt his wrist or something. Yeah, that'll been
big Man changing the.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
Series.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
Yeah, we know it would have, because didn't he hit
that sacrifice fly ball to give them the lead? That
he hit that ball? He was fist pumping. He hit
it deep enough that was going to drive in or
run from third, And so I'm not even gonna mention
those dumb, dumb fans name on this podcast and give
them any more recognition. Apparently they were allowed to come

(14:00):
to the next game again, because.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
What I thought I thought there was Ben Man.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
Lifetime ban is what I thought too, because it was
so egregious. But you know, they say fan is short
for what fanatic?

Speaker 1 (14:11):
Right, fanatic?

Speaker 2 (14:12):
And so if Yankee fans, even my boss is a
Yankees fan, he was like, I get it. If me
and Homeboy were here, we probably would have did the
same thing. Yankee fans are crazy. And to his point,
it did spark that team up, and they ended up
getting the victory that day, right, but the air was
out of the balloon for the next game, so you
could say it was karma for Aaron Jearma given you

(14:34):
exactly people were looking at Steve Bartman. Steve Bartman was
a Cubs fan. I don't remember what year this was,
but he very did a very similar act. His wasn't
as egregious, but man, he got and his whole life
was just just toard apart.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
That could have made them go through the worst series maybe, yeah,
you never know.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
Yeah, And that's the thing when it comes to fans, uh,
you know, you pay for that seat. People feel so
entitled they can say and do whatever they want to
these athletes. But you're dealing with people, right and we're
emotional beings. So you know, you know, to anyone out
there thinking I'm gonna go be a jerk, be out
of line at these games right there, slow your roll,

(15:17):
you know, recompose yourself, get yourself a Dodger dog. It's
cost you eighteen nineteen dollars, and just enjoy yourself, you.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
Know, yeah, and just just enjoy the game the way
it meant to be enjoyed, you know, as a fan perspective.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
Just enjoy it.

Speaker 3 (15:32):
You know. Well a lot of a lot of yeah,
fans that never did go to a ball game before
and just ruing it for them.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
You know, yeah. Yeah, and then we're not talking about
the game. We're talking about tweetl d and tweedled dumb
you know. And I don't I don't want that, right,
but that's all the airtime I'm gonna give them for that.
I don't carry if I never go back, So root
root funnel. They win.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Shame, oh lord, and.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
It's one, two, three strikes her out at the I
want to move into the NFL real quick, you know.
As you know, I went to the Niners Cowboys game
a few weeks back. I believe that the nice product.

(16:28):
It was great in TV, but in person, it was
a great atmosphere. Shout out to Heidi and Myron are
our friends from the Big Island. Myron was working like
sixty days straight just so that he can make this
trip happen. You know, he's a Cardinals fan, so it
was cool for him to be there and experience that.
And you know, not have any skins in the game,
just to enjoy the game.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
And I will enjoy the game.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
They do a great job at Santa Clara. That stadium
is beautiful and it was It was a good game.
It was actually the Sunday night football where's national attack.
So we got to see Kittle doing his thing and
the Cowboys, you know, their offense is just boring. But
I'm glad I got to see party versus Dak Prescott.
Even giving all the injuries that the Niners had, was

(17:10):
a great game. Uh. And I have to say, sitting
in the north end zone.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
I won it maybe a little more time under who knows,
you know.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
Well, either that or a little bit more Shanahan because
he almost blew you know how I feel about. He
was trying to Shanahan the game in there, and it
was amazing to see in person. Man like Niner fans
were crunk all day long. And then as soon as
Shanahan started doing what he does, which is overthinking throwing
the ball when he's not supposed to win, just came
out of that stadium. Bro I was looking around.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
Like again not again.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
Yeah, Well for me, when I saw Perdy take that sack,
I'm thinking, here we go. Like he fumbled that ball,
it would have been a scooping score. They're lucky Michael
Parsons wasn't playing that game because that would have turned
the game. But I got some great shots, you know,
I like to get some good videos. I have to
post it on our Instagram page and and see that
that shot of Debo with a seven yard touchdown. It

(18:07):
got called back because of beholding, but I got a
great shot of that nice and it was, like I said,
it was a great venue. I absolutely love our friends.
I'm glad. Valerie came and the four of us just
had a really really good time going.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
That's awesome.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
I can't wait for you to get and get to
a Rams game and uh, you know, get that experience
of having a live game. It really is, it really
is a different, different experience, especially Sunday night football.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
Yeah, one of our cool guys that worked on at
first seasons, she's gonna go and go watch some Monday
night game against Miami when she was stunning about it all.
So I.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Want to go, But bro, you can just stow away
just you know, get her an extra extra alert suitcase
and you just crutch and then you know, you just
ride on the plane for free. Hey, I told you
a couple of I would do it too. You work hard.
You need to make this happen. Okay, Like, don't be
putting this off and think that it's so out of
the realm. It just all it is is you're making sacrifices.

(19:14):
Maybe you're not buying beer for a couple of weeks
right there, and you're putting that in the NFL fund.
And the thing is too, like I said you, you
as time passes this stuff, it seems more of a
distant Oh I can't do this because this comes up,
and this comes up. No, you work hard, go live
your life. You want to double up and seems game
in the Lakers game. Make it happen. Bro. If you

(19:36):
start listening to some of my partl bets, you might win.
Let me tell you about some of these bets I
got right here, hold on, let me look at them.
This week's hot picks. I have the Lions three and
a half favorite points, so they got to win by
four points. This week, I took the Cardinals plus one.
I think they're playing. I'm not even sure that the Jets,
oh they are, Well, there you go. I feel really

(19:58):
good about that beat, considering the Jet ain't going nowhere.
Love to see.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
Aaron I got devant. It's different now.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
Oh yeah, it's worse. And if it's worse, I'm looking
at him like you know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (20:13):
I don't. I didn't even think they needed that trade
or or should have done that trade.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
Look, Aaron Rodgers is gonna get what Aaron Rodgers wants,
but he's gonna get his karma right everybody he points
his fingers. This guy got more fingers than than I
don't don't even know, man, I don't even know what
would say. But all of them are pointing out and
they say, you know what happens when you point one
finger at somebody that's right at three at least three

(20:40):
got you? And that's it. Aaron Rodgers, Hey, you listen
to this podcast. This is on you. Okay? When are
you going to be that leader? Right? Like? Obviously you
can tote the rock. You're four time MVP. Uh I
think it's four time at least three for sure. You
know he won consecutive, you know, yes, years ago. But
when are you going to take some accountability so somebody

(21:00):
else's fault and now it's you know, we can't who
loves out teams? And you know I don't want to
hear it, okay, And and you know I'm gonna get
on my Broncos later. I'm gona finish this bet right here.
I've got the Bills and the Colts. I took the
over forty six points, forty six and a half points.

(21:21):
Here's why the Bills are gonna close. They're gonna cover
this all right. I've got them in another ticket. I
think they're only four and a half point favorites. But
I think the Colts with Joe Flacco at the Helm
are still better with Anthony Richards Richards Yeah, I just
think that he can get Josh Bawns down the field,

(21:41):
Alec Pearce, who's a great downfield threat. I just feel
like they have they can move the ball a little
bit better. It's more balanced than Richardson, who you know
is going to make an egregious mistake most of the
time in the red zone. I feel like he's just
doing too much of that young Cam Newton stuff, and
I just I would like to see him and learn. Obviously,

(22:01):
you know somebody's listening to this saying, did you see
Joe Flacco play on, you know, against the Vikings on
the other night. Yeah, it wasn't his best outing. The
guy looked all of thirty nine and a half years old.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
But don't forget Minnesota has a good defense.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
Exactly, I'm starting them in fantasy. They got me twelve
points right there. I knew that he was going to
throw a pick. I knew that they were going to
rattle the Colts. The Colts really aren't that good of
a team. They're not that that vision is just okay.
We saw what the Texans looked like without Nico Collins.
They's getting him back. But I just there's just a

(22:35):
lot going on, and I would say this, I want
to hear about your rams and then I'm going to
tear into my Broncos real quick. So tell me what
you feel about your team. They got a good victory
against the Saint Minnesota Vikings. What a couple of weeks
ago where there's a bad face face mask that wasn't
called on Sam Darnold. But Matt Stafford is dealing.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
He's dealing. He got his receivers back.

Speaker 3 (22:58):
Our line is getting to be healthy for Monday night,
So I'm excited.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
Karen Williams is being Karen Williams.

Speaker 3 (23:08):
You know that that that kid is there is a
bowling ball and he got moves for it too, So
I'm excited for him. Don't be trying no fistfights and
getting you kicked out of the game, because I really
needed you last week from my fantasy.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
But it was all gi But we got to see
a win over the Seahawks.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
And that was crucial too because in our division everything
is really really close.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
I think everybody got four wins. I think yeah, and
it's going to be a.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
Rat race all the way to the end. So and
any win we can get in the division is a plus.
So I hope we can keep on going on Monday night.
So let's keep on rolling.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
It's good. You're right. You mentioned about the division being tight,
and it really is, especially you know, Cardinals winning some
games like the Niners dropping some that you would expect
them to win. That's what I call a Vegas trap game,
right where you're like, no, no, no, the Niners are better
than everybody. They're going to beat the Rams wrong. They're
going to beat the Cardinals wrong, you know. And that's

(24:14):
the best part about these teams and the familiarity between
them is that you kind of know it's going to
be a close game. It's basically, which team is going
to make the least amount of mistakes is going to
win that game.

Speaker 1 (24:26):
And especially a divisional game.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
You built that your team to beat the team in
your division, so it's you know it's going to be
a tight, tight game, regardless of the records. You can
show the records out. A rivalry is a rivalry. Nobody
want to lose to the rivalry, you know, And that
was makes rivory games special. You can never count the
losing team out, you know a.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
Chance, absolutely, and it's honestly, it's a wonderful thing to
see because for us, like I say, it's entertainment value.
We want, we want competitive games. I don't want to
sit there and watch a blowout. In fact, I won't
sit there and watch a blowout. You do have the
circumstances where a team back, right, we did see that.
Let's see who was I watching? Somebody almost gave the

(25:11):
game away after being oh the Eagles, no surprise, they
are up twenty two zero against the Jags of all people,
and allowed them to come out. They didn't cover their spread.
Final score was twenty eight twenty three. Mick Sirianni going
for two three separate times and not getting it.

Speaker 1 (25:28):
Those those blaming him, like, why would you go for two?
Just kick that extra plate?

Speaker 2 (25:33):
And I dropped Jay Gelly at their kicker a long
time ago because I felt that. I felt like, Okay,
this this is a team that's gonna score touchdowns anyway.
He's struggling, they're going for He's not struggling. He's just
not getting the opportunities. His coach is making him struggle.
You know, I'm struggling like a justin Tucker from the
Rain Ben who is he's got the yips ever since
that run in with the tight end Travis Kelce, Yeah, pregame.

(25:55):
He just he just has not been the same. But
that's it with kickers. It comes and goes.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
But hey, but did did you see that sequin Barcady?

Speaker 2 (26:02):
Well, you mean the hurdle, the backwards hurdle, the hurdle.
I had to post it on our Twitter handle. I
couldn't believe it. And that's another one of those things
I'm glad I saw live. It was one of those like, wow,
did you see that?

Speaker 1 (26:16):
It was so walling that that the drug testing He.

Speaker 2 (26:20):
Said it right after, Yeah, it was. It was something
else man, And then to see it didn't just come
like it was just luck. He set that move up.
It was a swing. Yeah, he swung somebody off of him,
spun out of a tackle, and then and then right
into a backwards hurdle. Like we've never seen anything like that.

(26:40):
But this goes back to what we talked about. They
want to devalue the running back position. They want to
treat them all as if they're the same buckets. Look
at a guy like Derrick Henry. Cowboys didn't want to
pay him eight nine ten million dollars a season. You
think they could have used him his talents this year.
We the Giants are looking stupid right now that they.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
Changed the foot right now, like, what the hell we
just did? Yeah, they were just let go one of
the best running backs in the league.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
You drafted him top ten I think it was fourth overall,
and you're not gonna pay him his dues. Yeah, he
did have some injuries, but he was sixty five percent
of your offense, keeping that team afloat. Nobody was watching
the Giants for Daniel Jones and a dried up raising
Eli Manning at the end, nobody was watching that. They
were watching for Saquon and and so to see that.

(27:30):
I'm glad they got their karma when Saquon took it
to him and almost scored his career high, but he
was let the rookie spin. So good on und and
my baby love. She has Sequon, she's got him and Kamara,
Alvin Kamara, and they've been going, Oh might be like
she's six and three. I think she's leading her division,

(27:50):
and which made me happy because I requested for the commissioner.
We've been in the same division the last two years,
and I was like, please, please, like put us in
separate divisions, because.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
Did you get tired of her beating you up?

Speaker 2 (28:02):
And yeah, I think I posted on our page that
was her kicking me. She was I was layer and
that that photo getting kicked. I knew she was gonna
be smacking people up, so I did not want to
be getting extra butt whappons. I'm over here trying to
climb back in it myself. I basically I'm four and five.
I basically need to win out and I need the
three people ahead of me to lose because the one

(28:23):
guy leading our division, Miles, is our commissioner. He's undefeated,
which I've never seen anybody seven eight and oh in
fantasy football. So and he's our commissioner. He does a
great job, but you know he's it's the luck of
the game, right show up. So she just said in
the background she doesn't know anything about football, so if
she is a top of the division. But but look,

(28:45):
I just want to transition to this because I know
we got to. We could talk football all day. My
dinver Broncos, well, Bronco fans may be listening to this
and think he's not a real. Listen, I keep it
real because I'm watching closely. Okay, I'm on Sean Payton

(29:06):
every week, getting on here, and every reason he get
every week, he gives me a reason to get on him.
We're playing the Baltimore Ravens. He's one of the most
explosive offense offenses in the league. And you're gambling, going
for going for fourth downs and shorts, tossing the ball
six yards behind you and trying to pick it up,
losing challenges in the process with a young rookie quarterback.

(29:27):
Give your team a chance and put points on the board.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
Yes, you have.

Speaker 3 (29:31):
You have a good enough defense for you know, playing
field position. Don't be going on fourth or making bad decisions.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
It's terrible.

Speaker 3 (29:43):
Baltimore is just too They're good. He can't be doing
that to them. No, you see this, that's Thursday night.
You can't go go for it on them that much times.
And the Bengals lost because of that.

Speaker 2 (29:59):
Yeah, and he you talking about a coaching hot seed.
He might have his seat might be hotter than Nick
Sirion's right now. And you know Cincinnati they've battle had it.
You know they're four and six. Jamar Chase is playing
top of the top best wide receiver in the league
right now. Joe Barrock is absolutely on fire, you know,
and they would be in MVP contention if they had

(30:21):
two or three more victories, which they should have had. Ye.
But going back to my Broncos, I predicted weeks ago
on one of our episodes that their record would be
nine and eight to finish the league. And I just
want to run through this real quick, because I went
back and found what I wrote. We did this episode
on September third, all right, So I said Seahawks week

(30:43):
one they would win, and they lost. Okay. We two
was the Steelers. I said they would win and they lost. Okay,
so I was zero for two on those. Then I
said we lose to the Bucks and the Jets week
three and four. They ended up winning those, Okay, so
we're two and two, right Raiders. I finally predicted one.
I said we'd get that win, and we did. And
then the Chargers week six, we get that loss. Okay,

(31:06):
I'm not This is where people want to get on
me excited when I see them beat up on the
poor Saints. They beat up on the Saints thirty three
to ten. Oh yoah Sean Payton's old team. Of course
they wanted to get that win for him, But the
Saints at that point were the Aints. Okay, there's no
Derek Carr. Alm Kamara is the only star. You had,
three no name wide receivers, like you just pulled off

(31:28):
the streets or off a bout from Hurricane Katrina and
threw them out there. And then the next week they
run up the score on the lowly Panthers, which your
son's high school team could probably beat up on the
Panthers right now. So I'm not not impressed with those
two wins. Then they go against the formidable appointed in
the Ravens and they get waxed forty one to ten.

(31:49):
And here's what I'm saying. You're not going to be
seeing the Panthers and the Saints and Raiders in the playoffs.
You're not. You're going to be seeing the Chargers, who
who's now leading us we third in our division. You're
going to be seeing the Chiefs who were coming Chiefs.
And I have them penciled in as a loss, maybe
a close game and a loss, but a loss, you know.

(32:11):
And I'm looking at this schedule. Here got the Falcons.
After that, I've got them predicted as a win. Raiders lost,
Browns loss because well, we'll see now with the Browns
because now that Deshaun Watson went down, Yeah, and it's
back to a turnover machine. But then you finish off
with the Colts, Chargers, Bengals and Chiefs. You could finish
off with four straight losses and put us right at
that record of nine and eight. And I'm being realistic

(32:33):
in what I'm seeing. You've got a gambling head coach
who is putting his quarterback in bad spots. One of
those fourth down calls we talked about was a deep
shot to a wide receiver in which bow Knicks overthrew him.
Now bow Knicks has the heat is good. He's a
lot more mobile than than you know, we would have
given him credit for. I still think that he hasn't
had a firm grip of that Sean Payton offense, even

(32:56):
though he was in I don't know if he won
or was in contention of Rookie of the Month, But again,
it matters who you play. Yeah, every snap, other teams,
better teams are getting film on you and seeing what
you don't do well, Because anytime I see him scrambling
up there for twenty one yards and great, I'm thinking, Okay,
how come we still can't run the ball. Yeah, we're

(33:17):
not consistent in getting into the targets right now, and
the throws that he should be making he's not.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
And that's a rookie's best friend. Like we said that
before and early in the season, the running game. Run,
run the game and play tough d And yes, I
have a pretty good defense over I'm pretty I like
the defense that you guys have. But run the ball,
make them short yardage where he can make easy decisions

(33:46):
instead of kind of like you said, Seans Payton's playbook,
you know, yeah.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
Yeah, and even if you need to simplify it, do
the things that works. Okay, keep some of that hidden
for when you play a good team like the Ravens,
who you know you're going to be in a dogfight
with head so much, he gambled so much. He put
our defense in a bad spot, like it's coming off
of a win beating down the Panthers, and everybody's saying
I think he was running up the score.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
Well. J C.

Speaker 2 (34:15):
Horn, which was their star cornerback, confronted him after the
game and said he was running up the score on them,
and and he might have been right trying trick plays
in the fourth quarter up. Oh yeah, two to three scores.
That's what that is, right, But that's a character thing,
like if you want to run up the score on
the bad teams, but you don't show up against the
good teams. Uh, what's going on, Sean?

Speaker 3 (34:36):
And you look, that's a bad look. You know you're
running off on good un shady keems. But he can't
barely win the good ones.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
Yeah, and now Sean Payton obro has a bad record.
If I'm Russell Wilson, I'm looking like, see told you guys,
wasn't me, it was this guy. Yeah, And so look
and again.

Speaker 1 (34:54):
Russell Wilson is in a good predictament right now.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
Yes he is. Yes, he's got coach Tomlin. Yeah, he's
got coach Tomlin and he's gonna do right by him.
And he's got a dual balance running scene with Najee
Harris and and and Jayden Warren like and so look,
I see all that's to say this when Lebroncos do
we I'm gonna give him credit, but show me something.
I'm not gonna get up here and just say my

(35:18):
team's getting winning record right now? What is the season
not over? You don't know. It's nine weeks into the
season and looking at this schedule, I'm being realistic about
what I'm watching, and I feel like if more fans
could be more critical with their teams, hold them to
higher standards, you might you might get more out of it.

Speaker 3 (35:36):
That's all we're doing. The Big Island Sparts Talk were
keeping it really, you know that's right on sugarcoated.

Speaker 2 (35:42):
Look, let's take a quick commercial break before I go off.
But when we come back, Michelle Beatle is trending on

All right, welcome back to the Big Onland sports talk show.
I just need a little pause right there, you know,
because what I'm what are you about to hear? Folks?
If you got little kids, cover your ears, you will
not like this. Brother, No, I played this for you
right before. This fifteen second clip is about to get ugly.
This is Michelle Beadle on the fan duel Run It
Back with Chandler Parsons and Lou Williams. Listen to this

(37:45):
the Nuggets to try and get me on that they
won't have to break up the team, loom, Are you
buying that this is the last chance? Oh lord, Now
it's hard to catch right there, but she was talking
about Denver Nuggets and ended up saying the Denver Ninja.

(38:05):
You know that's what We'll abbreviate it for you right there.
These Perordian slips happen, but they come from somewhere. Okay,
I don't know Michelle Bide. I'm not going to get
up here and pretend like I know her credentials and
even if I watch her show, but to make a
mistake like that on live TV and then just to
be laughing about it from her body language, and Chandler
Parsons and Lou Williams look up the clip. They knew

(38:27):
immediately she messed up, and she knew immediately that she
messed up, So to say, drop something like that and
then kind of just laugh about it. She continues in
the clip, saying, I don't even like that word, or
don't try to get me on that. Girl. You said
what you said, and you might have something hot coming.
You know, the country is already tense right now, given

(38:48):
the fact that it's election week, you know, and or
you know, finishing up election week, So for something like
that to come out, you know, people are split. Oh,
she didn't even say it, she said nu gets And
then other people are saying, she says that word all
the time when she's not guaranteed, you know. And that's
the way it kind of came off because it wasn't

(39:09):
an er, but it was an a. So he's like, my, my,
anybody up in the salon or the spat be dropping
that word. So again, you know, folks said, got kids,
and you know you heard that, you know, introduce them,
let them know that that that is a word that
has a lot of history behind it. That is a
word that you could argue is okay for some people

(39:31):
to say and for most people not to say. But
it is a word people do throw around. Right. You
could blame hip hop and rap music for making that
okay for some people to feel comfortable saying behind closed
doors and occasionally on live TV. You know, so uh
that I just wanted to play that right there, because
you know, we like to stay with relevant times, helps
us timestamp. We will follow up and see what comes

(39:54):
from this. Uh my guess is she's a white lady
in America. Probably nothing. Slap on the wrist and uh,
we'll just keep it rolling. But but uh, look, we're
gonna roll the NBA because there are some things that
are happening in Phoenix that I'm just way too excited about.
And one of those things is that we are eight

(40:14):
and one after defeating the Mavericks one fourteen to one thirteen,
with the only loss on the season. Comingto that hat
that you're wearing on top of your.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
Head, Yeah, did you get lost?

Speaker 2 (40:26):
Yes? You over here flexing, bro, I'm looking at the
record right now. Your Lakers are currently five and four. Poopy, Yeah, Poopy,
that's the eighth seed, my guy. So you can say
who do you want? But they are right where they

(40:47):
have been, trying to sneak into the pleeoffs. Even though
the season is quite young. Things can turn around. JJ Reddick,
I think a good job energizing his team. They might
just have to start Brownie. I don't know, do you
what do you?

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (41:01):
Don't?

Speaker 1 (41:01):
Don't don't start him? Put him in the D League?

Speaker 3 (41:04):
Please you already you already got to play with his dad,
and you already got to score a point and score
the basket.

Speaker 1 (41:12):
So let's get me to the D League.

Speaker 3 (41:14):
Though, Let's develop him first before we start putting him
in game situations.

Speaker 1 (41:19):
You know, I'm just getting real. I'm just hey.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
I got to give a shout out to my coworker,
Alex Man. He's so cool. He I told him about
the podcast while we were in training, and I told you,
I heard your voice in the parking lot when I
pulled up. He's listening to the Big Island sports talk show.
So we have a presence out here at Alex, you're
the man. He'll walk, thank you. Yeah, he'll just do
this drop. And I just love it every time. So yeah,

(41:44):
shout out to alex But going back to my sons, man.

Speaker 1 (41:48):
They were looking good, man, they're looking really good.

Speaker 2 (41:50):
Most games. They are getting it done. And and right
now to be tied a top of the Western Conference. Uh,
they're tied with OKC Thunder which both of us we.

Speaker 1 (42:00):
Wen that OCS going to be there.

Speaker 2 (42:03):
Yeah, and this is what al Shay Gilders Alexander, who
was an MVP candidate last year, not playing his best ball.
So it's absolutely phenomenal to see. If you're not tuning
into the NBA, it is overwhelming. There is a lot
of games at the beginning. A lot of people don't
really get into it until Christmas time or you know,
I was one of those that used to be watching

(42:23):
when the playoffs are coming because I just want to
see the best of the best. But there's some exciting
stuff going on. You want to jump to the Eastern Conference.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are ten and oh Donovan Mitchell, Jared
Allen of all people, is in MVP contention doing their thing.
They're doing their thing. The Celtics, who are the current
WNBA champions, are eight and two right now. They got

(42:45):
a close victory over the Nets last night, and then
it basically drops off after that. They're cannibalizing each other
because the Knicks have the third seed at four and four,
and then everybody else is below. But I will tell
you this big surprise for me, Doc Rivers and the
Bucks two and seven out the Doctor's Effect. And I'm

(43:07):
looking at a game here where Jannis Atenakupo has thirty
four points, sixteen rebounds and nine assists. Dame Lillard, Dame
Dalla if you will, forty one points, nine assists, shooting
shooting ten of fourteen from three point land, which is
crazy afferent. And they lost. They lost that game, so

(43:31):
you know it's Milwaukee.

Speaker 1 (43:33):
They're too good to be that too and seven record.

Speaker 2 (43:36):
Yeah, I'm not gonna feel bad for him, because I'm
still mad at them for winning that twenty twenty one
victory against my son's Oh you know, but but it
goes to show you, man, basketball is a team sport.
You can have two superstars doing their thing and still
not get the job done. So you know, it's an
amazing thing. Uh you know, I just I just want

(43:57):
to say, tune into these. It gives us something to
talk about. Absolutely love bringing these podcasts episodes to you guys. Brother, No,
I'm proud of you. Congratulations for your Dodgers and their win.
Relish it in it. Just take it, you know, boy,
you never know if it'd be the last one you see,
so just enjoy it. Flaunt. I would I'd be wearing

(44:19):
the Dodgers hat instead of that Lakers hat because right now,
there you got. They got the Shannon, They got the
Shanahan right there on the top, and it won't be
long until they fully get exposed. But man, great episode.
Thank you for your time today. I said we're working
to let it go too long, and I ended up
letting it go too long. But we're doing this for
our listeners, right we haven't dropped an episode on the

(44:41):
We're doing it for you guys. We love you guys.
We're gonna get some more big Island news. You know,
I'm gonna tell you go get your eyes checked. You know,
I'm gonna tell you to get some ConA crack. I
still got half a bag that I'm working through. That
little seal that she puts on the top is wonderful.
It keeps it nice and fresh. Yeah, go take care
of yourselves, Go work out this time of year. It's
not too hot. The humidity subsides. Go take a walk, right,

(45:01):
Go take care of your mind.

Speaker 1 (45:03):
You know, the other day, me and Summer was playing pickleball.

Speaker 3 (45:06):
Pickleball, and my legs are burning.

Speaker 1 (45:11):
It was a Wednesday. We played and it did hurts.

Speaker 2 (45:15):
Listening to you man forty six years old.

Speaker 1 (45:18):
I've been using muscles that I've been using high school.
Well goodness.

Speaker 2 (45:25):
You know what I'm gonna have to do is get
another free throw contest. I'm gonna see if we can
get a few more participants, maybe throw in like a
gift card or something for the winner. This time, it
can't be me and it can't be you. So you know,
if your son wants to win it, get one of
his friends involved. I would love to see some competition,
but all I want to do is see people active. Brother, No,
let's get a cheeho and get out of here.

Speaker 5 (45:44):
Three two, one, sh get your fingers off my phone.
