Speaker 1 (00:22):
What up? What up?

Speaker 2 (00:23):
I am brother? No, Welcome back to another Big Island
sports talk show, and always with me is brother Matthew Parker.
What's up with man?

Speaker 1 (00:33):
What's going on?

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Man?

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Hey? Happy universary team, Man, we've been.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Doing I know it's a whole year, man.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
I mean it started with the NFL Draft. You know
we're gona cover that today.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
So did you remember where we was when we started?

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Yeah? I remember, I remember exactly. We were sitting side
by side. We gotta put all the business out on
the street. But I will tell you this. We were
using our lunch breaks to record the first, yes, seven
eight episodes we did, and for that I'm grateful, because,
I mean, last thing, you wanted a man to be hungry.
We worked hard at HVH and uh, you know we

(01:10):
were using our lunch breaks to get this thing off
the ground.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
We are thirty three episodes later.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
So one year after and we still going strong man.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Yeah, no, that's a big deal.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
So I was.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
I was always grateful because you remember what you told me.
You said, I just got my head done two days ago,
and I always like talking sports. Everybody in my family
said I should do it, and then I was like, hey,
let's stop messing around. Let's do it. And then we.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Said that I am so grateful for you for for
doing this for us. We both every time I would
come in to work and I was like, not you
did you hear about this and this and you know
what of it? And our fantasy We started talking about
our fantasy teams and stuff like that, who to pick
up and what's going on? Oh, and all of us say,

(02:00):
he told me, you know what, let's do this, let's
do a podcast together. And I'm like, I'm down with it.
And one year later, here we go.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
We're still rocking. And I'll tell you this too, Like
you think about it like time is just going to
pass regardless, but what we're creating here, you never know
who that's going to inspire. Think about this. We had
your son on a couple of times, you know what
I mean, like his story about his wrestling journey and
all that, Like you never know who will hear that
down the line and be like, yo, I can do

(02:29):
this right. I'm just sophomore. I want to be a
state champ, but there's a pecking order I got to
put in my time, I got to do, you know.
And then for us, Like you know, this is only
the second podcast I've done. I mean, we're not pros
at this. We're just out here to talk sports, in
form some people and make some people laugh. That's it.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
I like the balls on this guy and the and
the two brothers that you brought on. Man. I'm I'm
I'm so grateful for those two guys talking sports with them.
That is so awesome.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Not something you really want to pat yourself on the
back for, but oh man, that's Myron. Shout out to Myron,
I'm gonna chop your legs on the way in. Shout
to Jonathan.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Appreciate Jonathan, Man, you guys. You guys are awesome. I
appreciate you guys.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
I almost had almost had a surprise guest today. I
wasn't gonna tell you who he was. I was gonna
just let him pop on the last minute, but he
was too busy. But I'll just let you know it
was our j I was just about to have him
come on here. That would have been a nice surprise, right,
you would have been.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Nice surprise, definitely, definitely.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
But we appreciate his support and everyone that's listening to
this podcast from all the islands we really appreciate you,
r J.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
We will get you on here, r J. We will
get you on here man And.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
He knows he's got he's got some good stories, so
we definitely will. But I'll tell you this story before
we get started, because we got to cover NFL Draft,
we gotta cover NBA playoffs, got to see him, you know,
we got to talk about your Lakers. You know you
knew that was coming. Oh yeah, yeah, So I'll tell
you that. Let megiate his text message. I got it,

(03:57):
says I was trying on some frames, were heading home
from work and this guy starts talking to Christina and
he laughs, and I was like, oh, I'm sorry, what's
your name? I think I know your voice. He looked
a little different from the picture, but I was like,
are you on a podcast with Matt?

Speaker 2 (04:12):
And he was like, oh my wow, she recognized my voice.
She was like, I'm Costco. I was talking to Christina.
Then I started laughing, and he was like, wait a minute,
I think I know you all, Like are you sure
because I'm not that popular? Like, no, that laugh, I
heard that laugh before. Then I just immediately talked about

(04:34):
the Big Island Sports Stop show. Oh, like, do you know,
Matthew Parker was like, yes, I listen to you guys
every time. I was like, oh my god, are you
my first fan that I ever met? And She's like,
I guess so, are you kidding me?

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Bro? That's why we do it. Like you literally got
recognized by that laugh that I'm talking about. That's you
know what I mean? Like, that's pretty cool. Like I
got that text message.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
The OL so cool. That was so cool.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Man.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Like me and Summer was driving home from Costco and
we were talking about that, like is that your first time?
I guess so that was awesome though. That was so awesome.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
I could just see, man, I know, like just the
way you lit up because you knew exactly what I
was talking about. When I was reading it. You were
like yeah, Like so shout out to Heather. Thank you
so much for listening to Heather.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
She's awesome.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
She listens to every one of our episodes and she
doesn't even like sports, Like she literally just does that
because we represent for Big Island and all the islands,
and because we stay true to ourselves.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
So that is so funny. I was gonna mention that
that was so funny.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
I was gonna bring it up last week. But because
we had Jonathan, I was like, well, let me just
jump back into it. I wanted to just wait till
it was just us. But man, because she's listening from
the beginning, so she's remembered like, oh, remember he was
kind of shy at first, and this and that that.
Now you just boom boom boom, like that's you kill.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
It on the with the punches, with the Yeah, man,
even though your team's just boomoo, it's okay, Yeah, we'll
talk about that.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
But yeah, man, look, let's get started. Episode thirty three. Well,
why don't we start with the NBA playoffs. So far,
so good, if from a sports fans perspective, as long
as you're watching the games in the West, they've.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
Been all competitive, I mean all competitive.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
We're looking good right now. I mean my favorite series
and you know, I'm sure a lot of people agree
with me, Nuggets and Clippers. You know, Clippers was Clippers.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
That wasn't pick and that was your pick.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
They had a chance to be up three to one
last night, but Aaron Gordon, he came out of nowhere.
You know, he missed some time with injuries this year
and he had to put back the closest buzzer beater.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
In didn't he dunk you for overtime or or did
he put him back for overtime to.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Win the game, because they not got it off, it
would have gone over time. And if you look at Jokic,
who shot that ball an air ball, but he was
heavily contested. He himself said he was trying to shoot
that ball.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
He wasn't.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
So that was just a heads up played by Aaron Gordon,
And like I.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Bought a good heads up heads up playing you know what.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
And it's funny because you know, people have what do
you call recency bias or whatever you call it, what
you saw as a new hot thing. But as a
Phoenix Suns fan, I remember I think it was playing
against the Clippers a few years ago. Maybe this was
that twenty twenty one series. Yes, there was an inbound
pass from Jay Crowder and he tossed it up to

(07:41):
DeAndre Ayton and they won in a very similar fashion.
That wasn't quite as close. Yeah, it wasn't quite as close,
but it was very similar like and it was where
Jay Crowder was kind of to the right left in
the basket, depending on what you're thinking, of but a
really tough inbounding spot. And I'll never forget eate and
going up and putting that ball all in. So that's
what that reminded me of. It does, yeah, shout shout

(08:04):
out to shout out to the Nuggets tying up the series.
They needed that because you know how there is three
to one, teams don't really come back down from that. Uh.
And I really, I really wanted it for the Clippers,
not only just because that was my personal pick, but
Kawhi Leonard is playing some of the best basketball playing.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Is it playoff Leonard? Yeah, man, that's all you need
to get healthy just before the playoffs, and and and
and and the team is hot going into the playoffs.
That's that's that momentum that they needed and Kawhi getting healthy. Man,
it does make.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
A difference, absolutely because with that team without him.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Is it's just an experience that he had with the
Spurs and with the Toronto Toronto Toronto when they won
the whole take there's this experience. Man. It's it's different.
Playoff is different, you know what I mean, more physical, more,

(09:05):
the call is going to be more more close, you know,
like falls and stuff like that. It's gonna is just different.
Playoff basketball is different.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Well, and that's the thing too. You mentioned the playoffs
and the physicality, like, yeah, we we want that. But
I guess the only person, only set of people that's
not getting the memo is the refs. Like what is
going on the official in the NBA has been horrendous
to this point. Look no further than the Knicks and
the Pistons game today. So Nicks win ninety four, ninety

(09:34):
three to go up. Let's see, they're up three to
one now on the Pistons. And I really like the Pistons.
Jam Bickerstaff really turned that team around.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Yeah, they're a competitive I mean they're scrappy.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
They are fantastic team, and they got jobbed in my
opinion today and immediately sold by the referees. They missed
the call. They of course do the post game review
head referee, they have to go through. They get scrutinized,
you know, very very heavily in the NBA, and they
admit they missed a call. Josh Hart did indeed foul

(10:09):
Tim Hardaway Journey.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
Yeah, you ain't getting no freebie.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
I mean it was no we saw it playing his
day and I get sometimes the players do the little
double clutch and everything, but it was he got them
on the whole side of his Yeah, it was. And
it was just again with how much money, you know,
exchange his hands. And we've got these four K visions

(10:33):
as cameras everywhere, like, how are we not able to
review that? You know? And of course you look, we
mentioned Kate Cunningham, fantastic player, he is coming into his own.
But he had a chance to knock down the mid
range jumper. Yeah, he got isolation out of the side
and bounce past that one was not able to make it,
and that would have put them up. So you know what,

(10:56):
Adam Silver is getting what he wants at least on
the on the East coast with New York being relevant
again because the Knicks were the three seed and uh,
they seem to be taking care of business in the
first round. It'll be it'll be a good thing for
the Pistons. The experience that team will be back, Oh yeah,
will be better. Uh but Jalen Brunson and Karl Anthony

(11:16):
Towns and og and Obie Josh Hart, I mean that
that squad.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Yeah, they're good, They're really good.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Yeah. The second round is when they do really really
kind of straightened out in the East because we knew
there was only four really good teams in the East,
potentially five. I thought that I thought the Pacers and
the Bucks matchup would be a little bit closer. Pacers
leading three to one. Right now, what do Yeah?

Speaker 2 (11:40):
I think they win? Did they just win?

Speaker 1 (11:43):
They just want Yeah? I updated it as I went.
I had a two to one, but this game just concluded.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
So is Ellert for the playoffs?

Speaker 1 (11:51):
He came back, So maybe he came Maybe he had
the blood clots.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Yes, well, it turns.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
Out they think he may have tour as l tonight. Yeah,
so so Dame Lillard. It is not dame time. It's
rest time, recovery time. And it sucks. It sucks to hear.
I'm not even trying to be funny. I'm just saying
I really liked Damian Lillard and I well, we talked
about our picks last week. I had the Bucks. Remember,

(12:19):
I put my faith in doctors. I don't know why
I did that. Why did you let me do that?
You should have talked me out of that. I'm over here.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
I thought you were to pick Indiana from what they
did last year. They didn't play pretty good ball last
year in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
Yeah, but it is a thing I don't really I'm
not moved by the Pacers, and I'm really hoping obviously
they're proven me wrong here in the first round against
the Bucks. But like Tyrese Halliburton, who was voted the
most overrated player in the NBA behind mind you like
by their their peers.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
Yeah, by the players, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
Yeah, right behind him was I think Trey Young and
somebody else I know, Ben Simmons or on that list,
who ironically plays with the Clippers. I didn't know that.
I was like Ben Simmons with his corn rows is playing.
But going back to the Pacers, I'm not a big
fan of Tyre's Halliburton. I don't know if it's You've.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Just got a lot of good role players. Where if
halliburg can break the double team and drive and he
can kick out, and they did those trees, they're pretty tough.
They're given a Bucks are a really good Bucks team,
and they're run for their money.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
No, they are, And I think, look, and I'm not
I'm not crying tears for the Bucks. Okay, the Bucks
won that twenty twenty one championship over my Phoenix Suns.
Giannis is having a fantastic series. I think, yeah, it
was twenty eight points and like fourteen rebounds twenty nine
points some crazy, right, He himself is getting his he

(13:48):
can get to his spots. He's just not.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
I mean we thought when you he need help, he
need a lot of help.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
But he needs a lot of he It's like Brook Lopez.
You know, Bobby Portis junior field stand them.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
I thought you'd have been good in this series.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Well he's he's doing all right, but you know, he
missed some time with that the peed suspension. I think
it was you know mccare. He apologized for it and
said he was just taking the wrong thing. Of course,
but when you lose a player, your third option, remember
because Chris Middleton is not there anymore, Yeah, you lose
that chemistry, right, So a lot of it was Johannis

(14:24):
down the stretch kind of getting them to their seating,
And then we talked about you want to peak coming
into the the playoffs. You want to just be kind
of scraping in.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
So yeah, that's so true. You want to be you
want to be on on this on this momentum. You
want that momentum going into the playoffs, you know, and
like you said, they're just scratched by in and and
it's hard. It's gonna be hard. Like you said, they
need chemistry with it being out for so long, they
need that that the good chemistry, like you said.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Yeah, that's I mean, look, it is what it is.
And in the end of the day, these guys of
multi millionaires and professional well professional in some stant, you know,
it is getting a little chippy. Specifically that that Nuggets
Clippers series I was talking about.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
That is a scrappy game and that's a scrappy series.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
And that's where my entertainment dollars I'm getting the most
out of it. You got Jamal Murray literally picking up people.
Who is that?

Speaker 2 (15:24):
That remind me of the nineties and the early two
thousands kind of playoff basketball.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
How do you pick up a grown man Joy Pouce
over here just trying to do his thing. He's gonna
pick him up with one arm. And then you know,
Joker comes in and said, Aaron Gordon, who's that? Who's
the brown kid? Uh? Brown Brown? I can't think of
his first name right now, but he's got a lot
of a lot of a lot of flair and he's
getting in people's faces.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Yeah, he's getting pumped.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
James Harden, I mean he's he's actually stayed a lot
more composed. He did kind of throw a shove in
yesterday's skirmish, you know, when it was three on one.
But you know what, again, we're all here for that.
I love yeah, I love it behind the story.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
So it's gonna be a scrappy series all to the end.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
It better goes seven is all I'm saying. It better
goes if any of the games goes seven in the
first round, which this is the first round, mind you
what I'm saying. Yeah, the West is looking solid, just
to just to tie that up. The Warriors currently leading
the Rockets to one, so you know, we'll see how
that series goes. Steph Curry is still being Steph Curry,

(16:31):
but now he's his Robin because Jimmy Butler got hurt.
Remember he got undercover I'm in Thompson and he landed
on his on his hip spine. So this is the
second straight year Jimmy Buckets, who we talked about, gets
better in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
Yeah, and it's it's Jimmy playoffs.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
You know, and it gets hurt. So we'll see what
Steve Kerr and Draymond Green and you know, the best
shooter of all time and up to one, they're not down.
So that's good. Uh. And then of course you have
the thunder who took care of the Grizzlies, I mean
swept them like a front porch and springtime.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
You know what I mean, we all knew that happened.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
I mean, I honestly I thought that.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
There's gonna put some sort of fight. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
I thought so too well, because because now I'm looking
at it and I'm like, I know that it's a
regular season award, but like shake Gilgris, Alexander Man, he's
he's showing up to play. He hasn't even really done
his best work, but he's got such a solid team
around him.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
They're built. They've built that team around him real good. Yeah,
everybody is. Oh, they're they're clicking, they're clicking.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
Yeah. You talk about getting healthy at the right time. Absolutely,
when you when you can sweep a team in the playoffs,
that's extra day's rest.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Right, and that's you can recover. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
Yeah, so you gotta I don't know what the seating is.
I don't have it directly in front of me. But
whoever they're playing in the next round. Everyone else kind
of in a dog fight right now. So yeah, so
we'll see. But just wrapping up on the West side,
Lakers and Tea Wolves. I got to hear about it.
What do you oh?

Speaker 2 (18:19):
I don't want to on the seeding there might they're
playing the winners of the Nuggets and Clippers. Okay, so
that's gonna be another going on. Whoever come up to
that series.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
I think you're gonna have the champion of coming out
of the West and that next one. Whoever wins, whether
it be the Nuggets or whether it be the Clippers,
that's just me obviously, I'm hoping for the Clippers. But
thank you for taking the time to look that up.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
H might finish maybe tomorrow? Is it tomorrow? Yeah? They're
up Tree Arrow.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
And the heat honestly, Like I mean, that window has
coming gone. I know. Yeah in the in the finals
with Jimmy Butler a couple of years ago, in a
few years before that too against what the Warriors. But
it's it's over for them, you know what I mean.
Like they're already in Miami, you know, is.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
It over like Miami Lakers.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
Oh well you said it, not me. You think it's
over for the Lakers.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
Just I'm not a big Lebron fan. Oh Man Edwards
is different. That kid is different. I like the balls
on this guy.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
And Jay reincardinated huh mm hmmm mm hmm mmm.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
What about let's get Lebron out of there and let's
get somebody younger.

Speaker 1 (19:46):
You think they shipped out the wrong guy, because what
if it was what if they shipped Lebron to the
MAVs and you still had Anthony Davis and Luca and
Austin Reeves, That's still a big three. I mean, it
will never happen, right.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
That don't Yeah, no, never let Lebron go.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
Not in that sense, but thinking about it, when I
watched the game today, the Lakers led the majority of
the way. I think the first lead they gave up
was sixty one to sixty and then the t Wolves
didn't have another lead of the game until it was
well over one hundred points each, I think seven eight.

(20:24):
So the Lakers were very much in charge the entire game.
But something that is just JJ.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
Raddicks grew up? Did he did a rookie coach misstate
kind of thing.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
You mean by playing all his starters the whole second half.
Absolutely he did. By golly, he's a weasel.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
You gotta give him rest. Lebron need his rest.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
The forty year old man, old man, would you say,
old man George rolling up in his wheelchair.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
I gotta play that right there, old man George rolling
up and there in his wheelchair.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
Living good straight. JJ. Hold on, let me make sure
this Mike is on JJ. Reddick. Fifty wins this season,
two more wins than hands in your pocket. Darvin Ham
on Thanksgiving. You know everybody's giving him his praises and whatnot.
You mentioned pulls a rookie mistake with a forty year
old aging superstar and Lebron James known to be broken

(21:21):
down Luca who just cannot stop yelling at the reps
and throwing his hands up.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
Yeah, and doing more crying. He's doing more crying than
shooting the down ball.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
Try that again, buddy, And it's and it's a shame
because he does a lot of shooting and he's good
when he does that. But something use and he just
his antics him laying on the floor a little bit
too long.

Speaker 2 (21:43):
Yeah, well he's laying on the floor. There's a five
on four going on on the other end.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
I was like, come on, man, and all those points matter,
especially when you see at the end they had a chance.
I mean, if Austin Reeves can hit that corner three, tie.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
It up would have been there. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
Yeah, you never know now. But but going back to
Luca and Lebron, they gave you all they can give you, Right,
Lebron had thirty eight in the last game prior to today, Yeah,
and they still came off short. Then you have Luca
with thirty seven, thirty eight points, Lebron James twenty seven
I think in the first three quarters. Those scoreless in

(22:24):
the fourth quarter, and then I mean, but him and
Luca together I think combined one for eight shooting.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
Is that because a fatigue older Lebron frettigue.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
Well, I'm not even gonna say that it's just his
age in that sense, because that's taking JJ Reddock off
the hook. Give the man one or two minutes a breather.
You're telling j Vanderbilt coming in, can we get Brownie
James some playoff minutes? Like you're not gonna do any
worse defense than what Luca is doing. Right now.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
Yeah, I wanted.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
You've got no big man. Jackson Hayes had three men's
in the first quarter. He doesn't see the game the
rest of the Dalton connect. You guys have Dalton connect.
You could have had Mark Williams. Mark Williams at least
would have given you some size and some defense, like
I talked about Anthony Davis earlier. But they don't even
have They've gotten no center essentially, so you got Drian

(23:19):
Finney Smith trying to try to check Rudy Gobert, and
Rudy Gobert has really done nothing but rebound and throw
a couple of elbows in the back of Lebron James ahead.
You know, we talked about the physicality. I'm not trying
to see that you give Lebron James. For as big
and strong as he is, he spends too much time.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
On the ground sloppings.

Speaker 1 (23:41):
And I mean, I guess when you get old and
you know, you start getting knocked over by the wind
if you don't have your walk. But man, and look,
I'm not upset. Obviously that's your team, and you know
I'm upset.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
I'm upset.

Speaker 1 (23:56):
I could tell, I tell, but but I'm looking at
his team and going back to JJ Reddick. He gets
on the mic after the game talk about Luca. Luca
was found he was tripped.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
More excuses, more excuses than anything.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
Where's the accountability?

Speaker 2 (24:13):
How about your playing take charge? Man? Like, Yeah, I
should have arrest the guys more long, or try to
getting some sub time for for Lebron, you know, kind
of wrestle them to a fourth quarter. And I'm not
making excuses for JJ or Lebron, but I think it
was more fatigue than anything.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
That's what it was. It was. You're right, and a
minute or two would have made a difference. Maybe Lebron
James doesn't turn the ball over on him in bounce
pass with thirty three seconds left to go. You know
when you get when you get tired, you start getting sloppy.
So remember he swatted and he had a couple of
good blocks, right, he had blocked from behind by James.

(24:53):
Everybody heard that the blocker around the world. Warrior fans
were clutching their pearls when they heard that blocked by James. Games, right,
you know, ring out, yeah, flash flashbacks. But but again,
so he was there, he was present. But you get
careless when you get tired, and what it.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
Happened was you're not in any state right on mind,
you know.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
Yeah, And when Ann Edwards drove and he clearly got
all wrist on that ball, it was originally called Lakers
ball going the other way, and then JJ Reddick ended
up calling the timeout, which gave the t Wolves a
chance to look at it and challenge it. So not
only did they lose their last time out on that.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
Also possession.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
Yeah, Lebron James would clearly getting the risk. And that's
like sometimes I'm not expecting him to say yeah, no,
it was. It was all me like it took some
good camera angles to be like, you know, he clearly
got his wrist hit and you know, I just these
things happened, you know, Lebron James is again second best
basketball player of all time. He has spent a lot

(25:57):
of time in the playoffs. I think he's never missed
a player game, which is just incredible. Right. Yeah, but
my goodness, if you can't tell your squad is tired,
and just here's my thing, that last point and I
want to hear your point like this, he played his
starters for the entire second half. Okay, twenty four minutes.
Everybody was, you know, running back and forth. That's obviously Lebron,

(26:19):
that's Luca Dawayne, Finnis Smith. You had Austin Reeves and
then and that's got you more. So let's just say
let's just forget for the second. This is the first round. Okay,
that's not a sustainable method. You're telling me there's no
one on your bench that can have anything.

Speaker 2 (26:42):
Contribute or or help help them, you know, with with
with the win and wrastling Lebron at the same time
and your other starters. Yeah, ah, man's this that was
a that's a bad, bad rookie coaching. First time in
the playoff as a coach. I think you'll I'm just frustrated.

(27:08):
We gotta we gotta, Like you said, three one, it's
very hard to come come back from hard to win,
hard to win the series from frustrating, it's very frustrating.

Speaker 1 (27:21):
Well, I mean, yeah, you make this trade. I mean obviously,
like you, you weren't expected to land Luga Doncic. You
know someone who you could argue is you know, not
even reached the prime of his career, and yeah, Lebron
James is over the hill. Ah, But for them to
potentially get knocked out of the first round.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
It's it's it's gonna be a disappointing, very disappointing.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
Is this gonna be a hit to Lebron's legacy? You
think if that's the case.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
It's not that it's not. Is that the first time
losing in the first round?

Speaker 1 (27:55):
You know it, Remember he used to have a streak
of never losing in the first round. But it'll it'll
this will be like the third or fourth time it's happened,
so it's not even like it's the first time, so
we can't really knock it. And then again with the
offensive arsenal of him and Luca, and then think about
this how they lost. I mentioned the turnover earlier, yes,

(28:17):
and on the inbound pass and the foul before that
on Edwards who knocked down the free drills.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (28:24):
And then what a lot of people are getting on
him is that Lebron James who's always been a team
first guy. Right, He's got you know, thousands of assists
up there as well. But with the game on the line,
with the chance of being down three to one on
the road, and he passes the ball to Austin Reeves
who was struggling in that second half. You know he

(28:47):
at one point he was wide open for three, had
time to line it up, spoted up and bricked it
and Lebron James with a chance. Now he was contested,
he was guarded. But this is Lebron James. We've seen
it mixed.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
I think he's if he if he took it hardest
and didn't pass it and try to try to get
that lay up or whatever, that runner, whatever he's going
to get, I think he would have drawn the fall
if anything.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
He could have, and that's what old Lebron James would
have done. But my thing is, in that situation, knowing
the rest of your team is fatigue, they're.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
Tired, they'd be playing the whole half.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
Yeah, they were trapping Luca at half court, they were
Austin Reeves again had gone cold, like if this was
two k you would have send it fatigue meters all
the way down. People would have been dragging limbs behind him.
But again my point is Lebron James, why didn't he
at least take the.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
Greats on football? Kobe want stow ball, Jordan wants stowball.
All the greats want the ball, you know, So I
don't know why he shied away from it. I'm pretty
sure he might have get the call, the fall call
and maybe going the free throw, you know, or making
an N one and madded to the free throw. It's
just a man. I don't know. If he's not confident

(30:04):
in himself making that that layout or that they're trying
to make that shot, you.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
Gotta at least take it. It's my point. I mean, yeah,
you know your guys are cold. You are still the
leader of this team, even if just by name, you
know what people are saying about you. And then again
for him not to attempt the shot, it's like, at
what point you know what I mean? And you had
herban Magic Johnson talking about yeah, and Edwards he's different.

(30:31):
I'm fearful for my Lakers. This is before it started,
and maybe this is what happens because Lebron James. Again
we mentioned the errors that he had. It was shooting
I think over twelve. I think on the fourth quarter, like, damn,
you think you make one of those buckets, You got
a different ball game because you don't need three at
the end, you only you only need that.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
Yeah, that one time, you never know, might be an
N one or are you going through the free throw?
You never know.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
Yeah, and I'm not taking Austin Reeves. He had a
good clean look at it again, get knocked down two
in the fourth quarter. You know, he had six points,
even though his shooting was atrocious like the rest of him.
But again, it was coaching. It was just a little
just to passive. And when you see Nazrie come off

(31:18):
the bench and knock down two huge threes, stand like
I think the Lakers were should I think? And that
could happen when you're on the road. But again, if
I think this is Lebron James's best chance to win
that final ring, at least, this is the last time
we'll say that it's his team skilled that run.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
You know.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
Yeah, but I'm going to be tuned in to watch
just to see. You never know, especially a man of
his caliber, he might just say, you know what, I'm done,
I'm walking away and he ends in the first round.
So this next game, all eyes are going to be
on seeing how they respond.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
So oh, just get winning, man.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
Jeez, well you need quite a few, because even just one,
I mean, I yeah, I want to get it for
your confidence and whatnot. But just looking at how this
is coming down. I just it's just very scary, very scary.
I mean the rest of the world to celebrate. I've
been watching Laker friends cry all day on Twitter and
talking about we should have had.

Speaker 2 (32:26):
A Mark Williams. They're gonna be like, what if Babe
was there, maybe would have one. You know, We're gonna
have a lot of what ifs now and when when
if they get knocked out the next game? You mean
when I'm staying at Just like poker, you just gotta
have a chips in a chair, you know.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
No, you're right, You're right because you never know what
the cards. But I'll tell you I'm not a fortune teller.
I'm not Madam Cleo, but I tell you it is
smut with my Jamique and accent Lebron. James be going
home on the next game.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
He's gonna go do right by the beat.

Speaker 1 (33:03):
You yeah, come down Kingstown and will make and Luca
and JJ will be right there with him. All right.
They might be Austin Reeves. Austin Reeves doesn't get to
go because he's not shooting that well. But even guys
like Gabe Vincent I would like to see if it
is gonna be Lebron James' final game. This is how

(33:25):
you're gonna know.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
But that's not what he wanted. That's why he stuck
your own that long for his playing with his son.

Speaker 1 (33:30):
Well, that's what I was gonna say. I was like,
you'll know it's Lebron James's last game if Brownie has
extended minutes, and like maybe they don't have a chance
to win, but he's just out there. It'll be one
of those.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
They can blow out. Then he's in there, you know,
with with with dad, we're we're saying the last goodbyes.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
When you see Bronni slice through the middle of the
lane and it's it's a ooh, an odd moment because
he just crossed up nas Reed and then he throws
an alley oop up to Lebron James, and Lebron James
just fall short, just can't get it because his old knees.

Speaker 2 (34:03):
And his ankles they ain't towing up. I want to
play basketball.

Speaker 1 (34:13):
But.

Speaker 2 (34:15):
Then you know they might be the end. You know,
when Bronnie comes in playing with his dad for the
last time, you know, then for sure you know that's
gonna be Lebron's last game.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
I'm telling you and I'm like, we're just calling it here.
That's what we do on the Big Island Sports talk show.
Just to finish up. Celtics up three one over the
Magic Jason Tatum with thirty seven and fourteen. You know,
he missed the previous game. You know, we thought it
looked bad that lower extremity injury, but he came back hot.
I'll say, I'll say Palo van Carol. Though he's got

(34:46):
a fat future, he's got a bright future as soon
as he if he can develop a middle range game
and start knocking down some of those free throws, and
if they can just get a little bit of help,
like if he's got you know, in terms of names
like friends Brownz, Wagner, Wagner. But he's he's solid. But

(35:07):
I mean, yeah, if you if you could get like
I don't know, if you could probably like the mantis
Bonis from from from sick, Like, yeah, if you could
just get one more piece around big piece.

Speaker 2 (35:20):
Well what up to the kind of what's his name? Uh?
For singers.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
He's still with Celtics, Yeah, sparingly with the Celtics, but
he's there and the Celtics really don't need him to
be all that because we just want to keep him.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
Healthy, just trying to get you to the next round.

Speaker 1 (35:39):
Yeah, they're doing fantastic. So I think that wraps up
everything that.

Speaker 2 (35:44):
Do you think it might be a Cleveland Boston kind
of thing?

Speaker 1 (35:47):
And then yeah, if I'm looking at it, because I
think I think the Calves can take the Pacers. And
then let's just say that the Knicks are gonna nick
the Knicks.

Speaker 2 (35:58):
They can be up to Nick.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
Then in Boston will win, They'll win for one and
then they'll run into a.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
Back that might be a scrappy series with Knicks in Boston.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
Well scrappy because only in the name of New York.
And they're used to seeing, you know, rats taking scraps
of hot dog and pizza down the subway. But the
Knicks don't play good teams very well there against good
teams this season.

Speaker 2 (36:21):
Is very it's not very good.

Speaker 1 (36:24):
Yeah, And so you think Karl Anthony Towns, he's fantastic
on the offensive end, and but you know he he'll
be blowing kisses to the fans at Madison Square Garden
and and and all the players for the Celtics will
be blowing right by him because he is their worst defender.
So yeah, I just I don't know. I just like,

(36:45):
how about we'll take a quick commercial break, and when
we come back, let's talk about the NFL Draft. I
just want to hear how you think your team did.
I'll go over some of mine, some expectations, and we'll
call it a day.

Speaker 2 (36:56):
Sound good?

Speaker 1 (36:58):
All right? Brother? Noel Matt Parker Big on sports talk show,
will be right back week Lebron.

Speaker 4 (37:13):
Hey, folks, don't you just hate when you're in an
argument and their spouse so you just got laid off
and some happy ass music is playing on your TV?
There go those damn happy ass whistles like everything's okay
and it's not. Oh well, that's okay.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
I will not have that. Weaseling in my house.

Speaker 4 (37:31):
We can't offer you anything that's gonna deal with this
sad andess other than you just need to suck it up.
Oh lord, And if you think for one second then
I'm being mean. That's the point, because I don't care.

Speaker 2 (37:42):
You better get your stuff together now.

Speaker 4 (37:45):
I'm gonna hurry up and get out of here before
those whistles come back and piss me off. I suggest
you two, Oh there they go, gotta go.

Speaker 1 (37:56):
All right, Welcome back to the Big Island Sports talk

us on Instagram, Twitter, you know how it goes. Brother
no Let's talk NFL. The NFL Draft just happened. It

(38:20):
is fresh. A couple of highlights there. First things. First,
the story everybody's talking about Shador Sanders, a lot of
star quarterback for the Colorado Buffalos, fell in the draft,
was projected last year to be top five pick, you know,
and of course he is the son of Hall of
Famer Dion Sanders. You know, there was there was a

(38:43):
lot of stories out there about his arrogance, about his attitude,
about you know, a sense of cockiness that just rubbed
people the wrong way. But the other side of that
is the man gives all his glory to God, right, yeah, man,
just like his dad. Very humble, you know, Christian men,

(39:05):
and uh, you know, you get to see the ugly
side of the NFL with this, just not only with
the NFL itself, but the fans. Yeah, and so it's
it's not uncommon for a player to slide in the draft,
but I mean slide from the top five pick over.
I mean some thought maybe he had a chance to
go number one overall. He could have to the fifth round,

(39:29):
to the fifth round. What are your what are your
thoughts on that?

Speaker 2 (39:34):
I don't know. I don't know what the real real
problem was with him, Like you said, you could have
been easy top five this year. If anything, I had
on Mama Mack going to the Giants if he was
falling through the Giants. I think the Giants even though
with with Russell Wilson being there and turnover of Winston,

(40:02):
but he couldn't go behind those two guys. You know,
learn a year or two and maybe you might be
able started for next year. But to fall into the
fifth round, something must have happened. I don't know what
would happen, because I could have seen Raiders taking them.
I could see that the the Jets picking them, but

(40:24):
it Saints. Saints could need him.

Speaker 1 (40:30):
Everybody, Steelers were gonna take them.

Speaker 2 (40:32):
Yes, a lot of Steeler fans, even Cowboys fans thought
they was gonna get him after he just plummet down
and nobody started taking them. And the big question is
why would he fall that far? These he got a
good game going with him.

Speaker 1 (40:50):
He let the n C double a. I think it
passing percentage.

Speaker 2 (40:54):
Right, percentage. Yeah, he's the high percentage passer, So I
don't see why not. And I saw footage of the
quarterback from maybe I think it was to the Saints,
just trying the ball up and all over the place
and he couldn't hit nobody. Yeah, it was like, yeah,
the up I'm like, wow, man, they really did that.

(41:16):
I was like, oh no, I think it's gonna feel him.
A lot of teams passing up on him, like how
Randy Moss was. He's like, Okay, you guys want to
pass up on me, I'm I'm gonna make a mission
to hurt every one of your teams. Yeah, hurt all
you guys. Seems that passed on me. You know, I
think he's gonna get uh. But with Gabriel, I think

(41:39):
it is.

Speaker 1 (41:40):
Yeah, Dyln Gabriel got drafted there Gabriel.

Speaker 2 (41:43):
And is with uh, Deshaun Watson st there.

Speaker 1 (41:47):
Yeah, you should be coming back from his achilles injury.
So it's a it's a packed quarterback room in Cleveland,
Ohio for sure.

Speaker 2 (41:55):
Yeah yeah, I just I just blew him mind on
what happened? How far you fell? What do you think
on what happened with mister Dorr?

Speaker 1 (42:06):
A little bit of this, little bit of that. Look,
the NFL has got his ugly history, just like America
has an ugly history, right, and it's tough to confront
that when you're trying to move forward, Right, people get
uncomfortable talking about what truly is the makeup of this
country and what seeps into the corporations nowadays. And the

(42:29):
NFL is not above that, right. They had to establish
what's called the Rooney Rule, named after Pittsburgh's famous owner
for the Rooney family, just to hire you have to
in the hiring process for coordinators to hire black and
brown candidates. The Rooney Rule specifically states that you had

(42:50):
to at least interview minority candidates, right, even that was
the term used at the time because they were so
few and far between. And let's not forget just a
couple of years ago, John Gruden, who's made his resurface.
People are calling for John Bruden you know, because if
you're a good coaching and everybody wants a second chance.

(43:11):
But the awful, disgusting racist things that he was writing
in his emails, right, it's a server right, Like so
behind closed doors, people are very comfortable speaking their truths.
And if you look at a young, confident, privileged black
man playing quarterback at a high level, son of a

(43:32):
Hall of famer Deon Sanders, that you remember was very arrogant,
very cocky.

Speaker 2 (43:37):
Right, one of the best cornerback. Yeah, is that confidence
or arrogance?

Speaker 1 (43:43):
Well there's a fine line between the two. But I'll
tell you this for the one position that you want
to feel that is your quarterback. I mean, does anybody
everybody say who Brett Favre to make every throw? And
and you know what I mean, he would try to
squeeze the ball into everyone window. You think he wasn't
a little cocky, You think he was an arrogant.

Speaker 2 (44:03):
Oh yeah, Mike Congrad was Can's set in money, Yeah,
trying to fit that ball into a small window. And
most of the time he got it in there.

Speaker 1 (44:11):
But it's just well he got it in there to
the other team going the other way for six. But well,
here's the thing too. What about the Mannings. Remember Eli
Manning in that two thousand and four draft getting picked
by the Chargers, right, and him shaking his head on stage, No,
I don't want to go there. I don't want to
So yeah, a lot of people argue, oh, it's a

(44:33):
skill thing. But it's a skilled thing. I think even
before that, John Elway, Now, if you pick me, I'm
gonna go play baseball. Nah, they picked me, I'm gonna go.
So it's okay for some people to do, but not
other people to do. And you could say, Dion, I'm
pretty sure Steven A. Smith said something that have the
lines up. Maybe the reason Shadur fell was because of

(44:53):
you know, Dion's arrogance saying, oh, no, we're going to
control where we go and YadA YadA.

Speaker 2 (45:00):
Right, Well, he didn't have an agent too at that time. Right.

Speaker 1 (45:03):
No, it's true, but you don't necessarily need one because remember,
let's look at the last person who is drafted a
quarterback in a similar situation. Quarterback. No, when I'm not
saying it, shadors anywhere on this athletic level. But Lamar Jackson,
who was a two time MVP. Every team passed on him,

(45:23):
including the Ravens right who had to move back up
to the first round.

Speaker 2 (45:27):
To get him at thirty again.

Speaker 1 (45:29):
Yeah, he was the last quarterback in the green room.
That famous video of his mom consoling him as he's
slunk felt around the table. He's a Heisman winging quarterback,
you know, I mean something a short shador never did.
But again, we talked about the chip on his shoulder
and the quarterbacks like you had Bill Pollion, who was

(45:50):
a GM for the Colts Hall of Fame GM, talking
about Lamar Jackson should switch to wide receiver.

Speaker 2 (45:59):
Didn't?

Speaker 1 (45:59):
Man? Is he wrong? So you think about so when
I look at the Chadur Sanders situation, I hope that
he stays humble, and I hope that this lights of
fire and that he continues to work, not only because
quarterback is the most difficult position to play in all
the sports at the professional level in the NFL, but
because Cleveland doesn't have a history.

Speaker 2 (46:22):
Good quarterbacks.

Speaker 1 (46:23):
Yeah, there's a reason why there's five or six quarterbacks
in that in that room, and I have no doubt
that he will eventually get his shot. I think everything
happens for a reason, and I think he was supposed
to go to Cleveland, who have had a chance to
take him top five? Am I am? I correct? I
think they traded They traded Jacksonville Jackson good Hunter. Yeah,

(46:47):
so Travis Hunter. I'm really hoping that he does well.

Speaker 2 (46:50):
And yeh, that kid is good. I love that kid.
He's he's he's something special. And I'm pretty sure Jacksonville
is gonna throw a couple of packages in there where like, okay,
we need to stop. And this is the guy that
you got to watch, the number one receiver. Yeah, I
can't wait to see him play with with Robinson who
there's gonna be a good team.

Speaker 1 (47:10):
Yeah. I mean, look, maybe Trevor Lawrence gets a haircut
and then he'll actually, uh will actually live up to
his football acumen because remember he was supposed to be
a can't miss prospect too.

Speaker 2 (47:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (47:22):
I just I just haven't seen it like they were.

Speaker 2 (47:25):
He got the money, all right, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (47:29):
They showed him the money.

Speaker 2 (47:30):
They showed him the money.

Speaker 1 (47:32):
But again, I just I mean, it's just a shame.
Uh we will see. But well, let me let me
just ask you this, how do you think your team did.
The Rams didn't have a first round draft pick, so
all six of their picks game.

Speaker 2 (47:43):
Nothing new I was. I wasn't surprised at all because
the last decade we've never had a first round pick
to pix right after picks. But I could see where
what Sean McVay was saying, like after so much players
that there's a drop off after the drop off every
pretty much the same. So him training back and getting

(48:08):
a first round pick next year, I think we have
the control of like maybe going down to this season,
we really want that one guy that can probably take
us over the hump. Maybe we can offer you know
that that that first round pick and probably acquired a
guy that can take us over the hemp like we
did on von Miller, and we did win that Super

(48:30):
Bowl after we got that with with that von Miller deal.
So it's just more firepower that we got now to
control what we need down to them the the future
they said they might be you know the sweet stakes
up next year for Archie Manning, getting him behind Stafford

(48:50):
and learning from Stafford behind him. But there's a ton
of possibilities. But I like that kid Fergushon from Ohio,
Oregon or physical Yeah, big physical catch radius is through
the roof. That's what we needed. To red zone target.

(49:12):
When when Hib came back in from his injury, the
offense was different. We started scoring more touchdowns, the running
game started opening more. And uh I just a pretty
I like our picks that we got in the draft.

Speaker 1 (49:31):
Yeah, man, three on offense, three on defense, like yeah,
you mentioned the tight end, and.

Speaker 2 (49:36):
We got Chris Paul not not not the Hall of
Famer basketball player, but that got from Ole Miss. He
looks like a tackling machine. Yeah, he looked like a
tackling machine. So that's what we need. And h the
de tackle from Ohio State, Humphrey. He's a good run stuffer.
So we addressed that the need. Our offense is set.

(49:58):
We're very good at offense with with Fergust coming on.
And uh I just I just love the picks that
we did. And in the back half of the Steward
the Michigan edge rusher, he high passor rush rate in
in in the in college, so that's gonna help us
even more. With the young and rookie of defensive Rookie

(50:19):
of the Year verse yep, And uh I just I
think it was a good good overall.

Speaker 1 (50:27):
B oh b okay, it's pretty solid. I'm gonna give
my Broncos to see and it's it's you know, I'm objective.
I'm looking at They did a great job in free
agency kind of addressing some of the needs. So I
felt like they could pick the best available player and
they let him slip to the Chargers. Omari and Hampton

(50:50):
was there and didn't draft him. You know, I'm not
upset John ay Baron. It's going to be a great
addition to the secondary.

Speaker 2 (50:59):
He's gonna be a good addition.

Speaker 1 (51:01):
He's a ball hawk. They they needed someone because Riley.

Speaker 2 (51:06):
Samuels too, which in the backfield, They're gonna be good. Bro.
That defense is gonna be good.

Speaker 1 (51:12):
It's it should be solid, and I'm glad that we
are looking at the defense to kind of really help
anchor us. I just when you see a talent like
Omarion Hampton, they're six foot you know, Tattern twenty pounds
back Denver is great when you've got a bruising back,
you know, Ron Dane then Porters tight back pulled up

(51:35):
in pass protection, which nothing against you know, our number
sixtieth overall pick and R J.

Speaker 2 (51:41):
Harvey, he's gonna be good. I'm predicting he's gonna be good.
I think that was a good pick for me, guys.
And in the second round. I love that pick because
there's nobody behind him, and he got a nice his
game is good. I like he's great, So that was
a good pick on you guys.

Speaker 1 (52:00):
He ran the fourth fastest forty in the combine. Great,
But the problem is he's got great vision, agile, but
he's a liability in pass protection. You know, you know
how I feel about bow Knicks, you know, vacating the
clean pocket and moving out. It just I feel like
they the player that they needed to help complete the

(52:24):
offense that could really take the most pressure off of
both Champagne and bow Knicks, and and they didn't take them.
And not only that, but now you've got the Raiders
who took Gent with the six to overall pitch. Yeah,
and now I got to face Omrio on Hampton twice.
So you've got two solid young rookie running backs that

(52:46):
we're going to have to be facing. So thank goodness,
they went, you know, defense, and you know they addressed
the need we got. You know, Caleb Lohner tight end
out of Utah Former Basketball Players sixty seven, another big time,
another big target, for bow knicks to overthrow. You know,
I just I just I'm looking at my draft here.

Speaker 2 (53:10):
It's a solid draft. I like it.

Speaker 1 (53:13):
It's a solid seat. And you know what, SE's get degrees,
you know, but you know what SS get a letter
C grade also gets you see in the game from
the couch in the playoffs because you're eliminated again. And
I just I don't know, I feel like and it's
not like that one. Excuse me, he just wants so
much attention, right, I don't know. I mean again, I'm

(53:38):
not gonna harp too much of my team. It is
what it is. You know.

Speaker 2 (53:42):
I think you guys get like the top five defense.

Speaker 1 (53:46):
It better be top five, even even top.

Speaker 2 (53:48):
Three with with with the with the addition of that cornerback.
You guys have a good defense.

Speaker 1 (53:54):
Last their defense is great. Okay, defense was great.

Speaker 2 (53:58):
If you cannot if to hold Patrick Mahomes down like
that and almost win the game that last year, let's
fake something.

Speaker 1 (54:07):
Well, here's the thing. Okay, defense was. I'll say, I
say great, but I'm gonna downgrade and say good. And
here's why. Yeah, you have to deal with the Herberts
and the Mahomes and whoever the Raiders savage quarterback. It's
not Gardner Minshew, I think. But the issue is when
you make the playoffs, you're facing really good quarterbacks. Now,

(54:31):
we were up seven zero against the Buffalo Bills last
year and they still ended up losing forty one to
seven or something like that. So one defensive back is
not going to bridge the gap between seven points and
forty one points, if you get what I'm saying. What
would have really helped is balance. Again, if you've got
a nice, bruising running back, catch a few passes out

(54:54):
of the backfield, be in you an escape for bow
Nick so he doesn't have to do too much. Again,
I feel like we missed with that, and I'm like,
maybe we'll be haunted by that pick for the next
ten years and the Chargers will actually get back to
running the ball the way the Broncos should have. Again,

(55:14):
when we had thousand yard backs, that's when we were
at our bets.

Speaker 2 (55:18):
And so again, J Harvey, kid, you gotta watch out
for him. I think he's gonna be a good sleeper.

Speaker 1 (55:26):
I gotta take a look at his highlights down in
Central Florida before I totally roll him out. But again,
I wasn't too moved. You know, there was a lot
going on. I was more distracted with the Shannon Sharp
situation and his only fans model. My goodness, he took
up hardly situation. I don't even have all the facts,
but I will say this, Shannon Sharp may have cost

(55:48):
himself a lot of money.

Speaker 2 (55:50):
Oh yes, he has.

Speaker 1 (55:51):
Already excused himself away from his duties at ESPN, and
you know he's still doing Club Shasha and all of that.
But I heard some of the phone call between him
and it's just Jane Doe. Her name is out there,
but I'm not gonna I'm not going to throw it
out there on this podcast. But those phone calls, they
did not paint Shannon Sharp in a good light. And

(56:12):
I will say this. You know, the word about him
trying to settle this case out, you know, before it
got public, you know what I mean it It would
have been great if she accepted it. But because everything's
coming to light, everything is published, it is not a

(56:32):
good look. I just it's just a reminder that no
matter what your title and what your pocketbooks look like,
you know, you make a few wrong decisions. You never
know who's in the conversation. You never know who's you know,
has plans to extort you for your success.

Speaker 2 (56:48):
So taking the video what nowadays everybody has a camera, you.

Speaker 1 (56:52):
Know, Yeah, it's not a good look. I mean, we
talked about Tyreek Hill last week and it's Shannon Sharp
this week. It was justin Tucker a few weeks ago
before that, which I'm still waiting for the follow up
for that. NFL doing their investigative research. Raven's doing it intal.

Speaker 2 (57:07):
Yeah, already getting suspended or what.

Speaker 1 (57:09):
Something's got to come out right, because again, it's just
a nasty, ugly situation. And I have.

Speaker 2 (57:17):
Such such a good guy too, man, Shannon, I like that. Man.

Speaker 1 (57:20):
Yeah, we'll see. I mean, we'll see. There's a lot
of people still in his corner. I That's why I
don't like to get too close. That's why we do
our own podcast because look, I'm on to go to celebrity.
You got recognized in the middle of a costco. Man.
You know, I don't. I don't have to worry about
you dating the only fans modeling and doing anything crazy.

Speaker 2 (57:39):
Summer would kill me.

Speaker 1 (57:42):
And she would be justified to do something, yes, and
then she can come on and be my co host.

Speaker 2 (57:49):
Definitely, brother.

Speaker 1 (57:51):
No, I love you many.

Speaker 2 (57:53):
Happy anniversary of my Matt.

Speaker 1 (57:55):
Have yourself a great night. I appreciate you jumping on
this podcast with me. I mean, we're doing it, man.

Speaker 2 (58:00):
I love this. I love it. Every time I'm talking
to you. I love it.

Speaker 1 (58:03):
Yeah, we didn't. We didn't get to the Dodgers tonight.
But no, it's a long season, so we'll get to them,
uh you know, next week and have some more baseball talk.

Speaker 2 (58:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (58:12):
Sorry, Let's say I did watch a little playoff hockey.
I did choose the Vegas Golden Knights as my team
for cousin Jonathan. I don't care who it is, you
know what I mean. So I did choose my team.
I know you're l a king, so we'll see.

Speaker 2 (58:25):
Well, I was trying to watch it, man.

Speaker 1 (58:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (58:29):
For some reason, the Sports East whatever stream East, I can't.
I can't get on.

Speaker 1 (58:34):
Maybe they're getting shut down. I don't know. Maybe it's
our fault because.

Speaker 2 (58:37):
Like I'll try and try and try, and I can't
get on.

Speaker 1 (58:42):
That's okay, Maybe it just wasn't meant to be.

Speaker 2 (58:44):
But love man, bro match you have a good night,
my Matt.

Speaker 1 (58:48):
Well, let's get a cheat who, And get out of
here all right, three two one che
