on on the Islands. Man. So it has come to

my attention that three star quarterback, former Bishop Gorman High
School quarterback Micah Eugeno is returning to the Islands. So
he's gonna continue his career out there doing some good football.
I love seet quarterbacks coming up. There's been a long
list of w white quarterbacks coming out there. Look, Marcus Mariota,
he was my guy. I thought the roof was high

up for him. Cold brand, rest in peace. I mean,
who else comes to mind when you think about your qbs.

sixteen sixteen year NBA veteran Patty Mills why as a
general manager.

Yeah, so wow, nice, nice, I'm just reading about that.

That's dope, Patty Mills bringing all that experience, uh, and
hopefully they can benefit, you know, put the Rainbow Warriors
back on the map. General manager has a pretty big position,
so it is hopefully they give him some run, let
him do what he wants to do, and and we'll
see in the coming years.

Definitely, definitely, I kind of wait through what he brings
to the program. You know. Yeah, man, wait as an experience.
So like, just let the man do whatever he wants
to do this, give him free range.

You know, that's right. I mean, you know he had
the success with the Spurs and he's I'm Olympian, right,
so yeah, you know, hopefully, like you said, they out
of his way because what they're doing right now is
not working.

Olympics is kicking off in a while, So shout out
to all the athletes over there, all the volunteers with

your situation. People want to compete, right, were competitive by nature,
So everybody going out there to support them out there

to read about that kind of stuff. And that's when

Everybody can come together, no matter race, whatever, we can
just come together and compete, you know, and all the
big shout out through the athletes out there, go get.

I heard you've been getting up early in the morning. Yeah,
I have now the listeners about that what you've been doing.

I'll be getting up maybe about five. Me and my
son been putting on doing some cardio getting put them
on the treadmill for an hour. Right after that, I
have a like a rolling machine. I put them there
for another half an hour and we finish up with
wait for another hour. Not something you really want to
pat yourself on the back for, but yeah, so I'm

getting stamming up and kind of making them strong because
he's kind of on the bony end, you know, long
and slim. Put a little bit muscle on him for
for varsity ball.

Okay, this year is coming into varsity ball.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Yeah, and I just got word from one of the
coaches that it might comes to like with tiers one tier,
two tier, and a tree tier. We're in the second tier.
So I'm thinking we're gonna play or he Helo Vikings
or White Ko one of those teams, or we're gonna

start playing the D one Schools. Yeah, so I'm I'm
I'm telling them, man, you better bake up because this
D one Schools is gonna be playing. There's no choke, man,
there's a there're big schools. There's a lot of kids
in there that played from when they're all small. So
I want to buck them up a little, you know,

get his stamming up and hopefully he can get that
secure that uh that number one I'm running backspot.

Okay on varsity nights coming into his junior junior year,
right yeah, deal right there.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Yeah. I was like, bro, this is the time right now,
this is the time when you put in work. Yeah,
we're supposed to be putting work last year, but with
wrestling and all that, So I just let them be,
you know.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
Yeah, don't overwhelm them. That's good parenting, right Yeah. Proud
you for getting up with them. It's one thing to say.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
It's like he told me, Dad, if you're gonna if
I'm doing it. You canna do it to me too?
I like, oh lord, let's do it.

Yeah, No, good for you though, I mean you talking
about two and a half hours before most people even
get up to start their day. And I mean the
role machine byself is a lot. Now you're adding weights
after that and some carry up before. Like, no, good
your up hopefully yourself too.

I've been telling them for like years, all the way
down to my daughter, like the work that you put
in after practice or before practice, that's that's gonna help
you a lot. It's gonna benefit you, benefit your body,
gonna it's gonna benefit a lot. Like I told myself, like,
how many kids your age right now is waking up

this time and put it in work and or or after
after practice? Who who's putting in time? You know? The
guys that put in the time, that's the one that's
gonna shine. No.

And you gotta think big picture, right, don't leave it
to your senior year to yea work and go. You
always have that regret. Plus, you gotta be thinking about
the S word dollar ships. Right. You put in the
work right there, like that shows up not not just
on film, right, And you're talking about. He's a multi
sport athlete you mentioned yeah before that, and you know

him wanting to take home the state championship. But well,
you're not gonna do that rolling off the couch and
thinking you're gonna flip somebody on the map, especially not champions.

So, especially when when we grew up, I wish I
had somebody telling me for do this, what I'm doing
with my son, I would appreciate it more because I
didn't know what I was just like Greenharten, you know,
just playing sports and didn't know what I was getting
myself into. Never had that good good of a coach. Nowadays,
nowadays it's very advanced because of all the you can

go online and look up on how to get better,
how to how to crafty game better. And it was
way different from when we was growing up, just somebody
telling us what we're doing. But now you can do
it on your own, you know, put in the work
by yourself.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Absolutely, And I mean and looking back, guarantee, he's gonna
appreciate that. You think about ten years down the line,
having somebody in his corner, says you mentioned, not everybody
had that. You didn't have that, right, Yeah, I didn't
have that. We had we had some mediocre coaches, but
we weren't even sure following their lead. But right, I
mean you don't go and ten. Obviously they weren't playing

the game for us, but we were prepared. We have it.
It was instead of Wooster Colts who were the Wooster Doves.

Yeah, we had was this practice whenever, no film, no
all this stuff right now, the technology that they have
right now. Back then it was raw, like get in there.

I thought I thought the game film looking like scouting
teams for for us was pretty grainy. But I mean
if you had it back then, you couldn't make it out.
It's probably in black and white. Huh, you couldn't.

Yeah, there's apparently anything on that screen blur vision. Is
that bigfoot passing by?

Shut out to A. I can't wait to have him
back on, Like, please extend the invite. I know he's
got long days. The school is priority. I know that's
the kind of discipline you put in, so you know,
if he ever does half time he wants to jump
on for a couple of minutes, please extend the invite
to him because we love to hear the progress. Like
you said, you're playing the D one schools investor. Luck

good times, let's jump into the NBA Finals. I mean,
we have got some great games. I mean, on the
last episode, you predicted six games, okay, see right, and
I predicted seven seven and we are on pace, both

of us with a split series right now split?

Yeah. The Pacers taking game one one eleven to one
ten in an absolute classic, a thriller, right, that was a.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Triller to the end. I think ditrick to lead at
the end of the game when they won, it wasn't
their first lead.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
Zo point three seconds left, man and Tyrey Halliburton coming
off the mid range and just nail.

He was struggling too, don't don't forget that he was struggling.

And you saw me I posted on the Instagram page. Yeah,
here's the Reggie thing with his two shooting six points
at halftime, and then he came and bit me at
the end, like I look again, I mentioned it before.
I speak a lot on this podcast. I talk a
lot of mess but I'm gonna get on here and
say when I was wrong in Game one.

for the entertainment aspect, it was great. Like I was
watching Ohn at Sam's Club, like I was in disbelieve.
Valerie was looking over my shoulder like what is this?

He wanted to me. She's like that's really cool. Valerie
loves baseball or basketball. She's not really that much into football.
She likes it because I do. But she was watching
the last end of that game right there and she

some stats for game one. Again we talked about Tari's
Halliburton struggling, but he ended up with fourteen points, six assists,

and four rebounds. Of course, the two most important points
came at the very end. Sga thirty eight points, three assists,
and five rebounds, the third highest points for our finals,
first finals game. So I thought that was you know,
I love sports history. Only only two people above him,
you know these names. George Miken nineteen forty nineteen forty

nine had forty two points, and Alan Iverson against your
Lakers in two thousand and one had forty eight.

Wow the answer, baby.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
Yeah, So I mean pretty exciting stuff. Sga did everything.
He got some help. Lou Dort had fifteen points, Jayalen
Williams had seventeen, but chet Holger fell short with six points.
And he It's funny. In the fourth quarter, I saw
him in a fast break and he like missed a dunk.
He was at the rim. Thought he got fouled but
didn't go up hard enough. Yeah, think about how important,

A crucial That was a crucial miss.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Yeah, and it's like that they took their foot off
the gas as we said before, but very entertaining game. So,
I mean, what did you think coming off of Game one?
Did you did you think that okay See was in
trouble losing home court advantage in Game one? No?

Speaker 2 (13:56):
I knew Indiana was gonna be scrappy like that. They've
been doing that too long all the series, from the
beginning of the playoffs. You know, they're being scrappy like that.
They're being coming up from from the back from I
think it was from there, from the Cows game too.

Yeah, they ran everybody?

I like the way they play, but the way Oklahoma

I can't believe it. I was like, it's this the
same NBA I'm watching. Look like we got back to
the nineties where everybody's Troy hard falls and scrappy D play.

I was like, Wow, it just warms your heart, doesn't
it It does? It does, Like I can sit down
and watch this.

We talked about season long because it was We complained
on this podcast that it wasn't physical. It was nothing
but forty three pointers for every team up there some
team shooting two for twenty eight or oh for twenty seven,
like that Houston team against Golden State a couple of
years back. Yeah, it was hard to watch, but this
has been a very entertaining series. Two games already down

in the books. Just give you the score for the
second game that went final yesterday. Okay, see rebounded at
home evening of the series at one and one with
a one twenty three one on seven victory and SGA
again thirty four points. And here's the thing too, He's
got the most points through the first two games in
finals history, seventy two points total.

So we mentioned this game looks smooth man. I love
his game. That's mid shots, that's money.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
Gets to his spots, right, And uh yeah, I mean
seventy two points. Allen Iverson had seventy one and the
goat Michael Jordan was sixty nine totals. So uh, he's
making his claim for best in the world, and maybe,
if that's premature, at least justifies his MVP. It was
well deserved, right, especially Joker head up right, I think.

But yeah, I mean and a crazy stat too, okay
See seventeen and two following a loss this season five
to oh in the postseason. So I mean, Pacer fans
like you know me listening, those knees are knocking right
there because then you you poked the bear and now
they woke up, right, they got pushed to the limits.
Could argue, okay See should be up to oh right now.

But for the entertainment point, I'm glad that it's one
to one and we'll see you on Wednesday when Game
three comes down back in Indiana.

Yeah, I can't wait for that game. The I think
Williams and home Grin didn't do good in the first game,
but that did they did very good in the second,
and I think that was a two different of why

If those two guys can keep on rolling like how
Shay is, I think Indiana might be. They's gonna be

I mean, okay, see alone had forty two bench points.
They're bien worthy their top three.

just think, like anybody that's front running that that ain't
got nothing to show for it in terms of hardware rings.

I mean, same pitch, but you call it a strike
and the other one was on ball. That's that's inconsistent.
You gotta be professional because since they're with it, well.

this is something that's always going on. Every umpire has
got a different strike zone. Is that the case?

Yeah, Some some umps they're like it low. Some guys
like I'm a little bit high. It's all depends. So
I told my daughter as a picture, find that strike
zone that he is calling, and and and we're gonna
we're gonna pick it at that spots and a certain
certain pitches because all all umps is different. Some can

call them my eye, some call them low, some call
it where it's supposed to be, you know, but the
all depends on the ump. Well, but you gotta make
sure that they're calling it the same thing as the
other team too, not just on our team, you know.

Well, I mean that matters right there. And I understand
why batters get frustrated because you literally have, you know,
fractions of a second to react and sometimes you you
spend enough time in batting practice, you know where that
strike zone is for you anyway, you know where that
ship is, where the middle of your chest is. And
then now you're getting you're getting hosed at the plate,
Like I understand why some guys give that long look

At the same time, though, again, if it happens for

She was killing it though. She she the beast. She

and that she ran up against Coco Golf and Coco
for being twenty one years old, uh and absolute stud

cool and collected. Dropped the first set to Sabolenca seven
to six, and I mean really it was a battle

ever woman in tennis history to rally from one set

And a lot of the greats that became greats they
did they got pushed, you know, mom, and Ali got
pushed for being a good boxer. Kobe got pushed he
became a great basketball player. Jordan got pushed, samee.

Pushed around the pistons. H yeah, yeah yeah. So no,
I mean, you're absolutely right, and that's it's good to
have that to fall back on as well. And again
you leave by example, that's a huge part right there.
You're not just hawking. You're not talking to Adam, You're
talking with him. You're even will and that that goes
a long way. I'm telling you, I never knew my dad, right,

so I'm like, I have that coach mindset and really
just try to come from experience without having that yourself.
That's a big deal. That's where the heart comes in.
That's where that determination, that great that grind really solidifies
your mindset for when it's game day. So I'm proud

Yeah, my dad was the same. He never pushed me
to do anything. He was more of like a mechanic
kind of guy than wasn't involved in sports, so he
didn't know too much about sports. You never pushed me away.
I'm pushing my son right now because I know what

I've been when truing high school that was it was
so comedic. The way things are now, it's it's crazy.
So I'm glad I can see see what's the trends
to be a great, great athlete.
