mini camp was awesome that I went to the rounds
one that they had in Mali. The first night we
got there was on Tuesday and they had a practice
just for the Maui residents and the Lina Kids, the
Lion of Luna Kids.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
That was awesome.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
They went up to uh In doing into Lina. They
helped with the homes, real rebuilding homes for Lina and
they made them a whole new, brand new sports facility
for for them for for the line of school Lion.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
Yeah, it was. It was awesome.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Then the next day on Wednesday, it was for everybody
whoever wanted to come or had tickets to come, they did.
It wasn't wasn't cool pants. They showed up a half
hour late. Understandable was their vacation. There went maybe like
two hours of just working out, going through some routes,
going through the defense is going through their their thing,
(02:28):
and the offensive line running backs.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Yeah it was wasn't was this cool, cool experience.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
You can see, like literally right there is who you
watch on TV you know and cheer for.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
So yeah, it was a good experience for me. I
was stoked. I was really really stoked.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
That's dope, man. I see you get to see some
big names. You see stat Pafford.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
That's mister Stafford to you. But I like the balls
on this guy.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
Yeah, uh had Jammie had, Karen Williams Blake rum that
everybody Tyler Higbee.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Uh yeah, the old the old old ram just like
the last Saint Louis round.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
I don't care who it is, but his name.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Having seen he was there and uh old man George
rolling up and there in his wheelchair had jerk.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Versu and be young. Those two guys, Bro.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
They're they're pumped mad meeting just meeting them and seeing
them in real life.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
They're huge. There are huge human beings and they're.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Just was over there clowning each other, you know, slap
boxing with each other, playing games, meet each.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Other, tripping and tripping them off and stuff. Yeah, I
like to see that. The Camaradie with with with the team,
that's awesome.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
No, man, that is awesome. I mean you talk about
a great gip, right, I mean, shout out the summer
making that happen right there. I'm glad that she definitely
the radar so that you could go because, bro, like you,
how football is like these teams change up. Like Mats
Stafford almost didn't come back. They actually told him to
look look for another place.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
To be got rein.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
He's looking for a contract. But I'm just glad that
he came with the team. You know, show show some
team spiritite so so and I'm a boy.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
I was like staring them down and I was.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Like looking for twenty three. Keep your eye on them.
See if you do any you know works that you
never see before, so we can put that in in
your arsenal.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
And yeah, incorporated your own game.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Yeah yeah, he just was watching. It was like he
was he was.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
He was amazed what what they actually go through and
the drills that they go through.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
So yeah, I was happy for.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Oh man, I was hoping you were gonna say. Man.
They pointed them out in the crowd. They were like,
forget the first city ball man, come on, why don't
you play Scout team over here? We need some fresh night.
You've been doing those five am workouts And I was
paying off.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Man, yeah it does. I just want to play foot.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Oh I just got a cold plunge. Oh he does
not like that at all at in the morning.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Oh you're making him do that? Oh yeah, I would
be upset, but you too. I don't need no cold.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Plunge literally it is.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
But he feels great though, after after your showers and colding,
finally cools down his heart beat and cool down, and
you can feel the repressionists in his body and like
he's ready for another day. You know, if feel refreshed,
then the next morning we do that. So yeah, I'm
just trying to keep that any new tine.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
So where you go, kt A buy up all the
ice and put it in a barrel in the yard.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Man, I got those those note jugs, those one gotta dugs.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Over there. He's freezing his cold again, buddy, man.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
I like that though, Hey, what is that any song?
It's hard like.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
You make the way where where it is.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
You know you gave me. You just make what you get.
Whatever you get in the house, you make it.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
No, that's awesome. I love to hear it. And you
know one name you didn't you didn't mention it was Adams.
I thought that was your boy. That's saying. Yeah you
see him up there too.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Oh man, he they did something rolls that he did
nice clean rouse with Pokah.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
I got in the video. I sent it to the
Big Island Sports Show Talk So Instagram, you.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
Guys not following, please follow, please follow. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
I put on a bunch of photos and I think
a video that stop on it. Pukah and Levanky right
next man he grabbed that ball, he went up over
and he dunked it over the from the crossball, Like damn,
he got hops this boy.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
That's ten feet up there too to get up and over. Yeah. Man,
all right, So I mean based on when you got
to see what your own eye, I mean, what do
you think for his Rams team put it on record
right now.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
We're looking good.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Yeah it wasn't full pass, but they look good like Chris.
One biggest rind I was was bretandant Fist. He was
going to come back from his injury because he got
hurt in the playoffs early in.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
That playoffs game, and I just was talking to him.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
If you can see on one of those pictures, I
was talking to him.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
My son was like, what you was talking to him?
Planning while you was talking? You know, it's that that's
pretty fish man.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
He he was like tight second for the most pressures
in the NFL, next to the burse. So yeah, I
was talking about it. I was like, man, you should
have won that rookie depensive the year. You're like, no, man,
fits is just another animal. If you can just look
at him.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
All that, and I looked at him like wow, man,
this guy is.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
Huge like that you were up in the mix, bro
you basically.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Yeah, pretty much. I got to talk to someone.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
I also talked to Travis ferguson the number two pick
out of organ tight end.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Man.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
He's huge, man, he's tall and he's I was watching
his rolls.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
He look pretty crish, man, he's matches starfer has got
a new Man's.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Oone target if he can keep up the good, good
work and hard work that from from Oregon hopefully on.
Think about these rookies. You gotta find their step. You know,
in the NFL, it's it's hard. And what if rookie
does explode?
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Hey, man, you know he's put in in the work.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Well, I mean it's dope though. I mean you got
to see It would have been dope if you got
to see any team, but you got to see your team. Yeah, yeah,
up close and personal. You got to talk to some
of the players, like and you get to share that
with your son too, like, bro, Yeah, people listen to
this podcast. Jealous as hell right now.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
Man, Hey, there's a couple of guys and dob up
my son and my boy. Like, bro, that's an NFL player, bro, Like, yeah,
he was all stoked? Did that be up like, yeah,
bro good, I've just seen the smile on his face,
so all like happy I was. I was content, man
like like he was kind of starstruck, you know, go
(09:06):
like ten feet away from us.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
So it's like, come on with me. He can make
you sad. But he had to go. I was getting late,
so man just missed it. Davante to He also shook
Jimmy G's and my son was like, Jimmy G. Yeah
that daddy gave me. He shook my hand.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
He told one of my my my nieces, a big
Jimmy G.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Fan, she was like, bro, that is storious.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
She was all jay, but it's all in good fun.
But yeah, he got to meet a lot of flares here.
He was stoke about that. Yeah, like a little kid
in a candy shop.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
You know absolutely well, I'm watching you bounce around the room.
I'm like, who got more out of it? Yeah? Him
or you?
Speaker 1 (09:49):
But we vote had fun and.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
That's why I was telling you. You work hard, like
you deserve to have these kind of moments.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
Now.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
Just watching it, imagine going to l A and and
seeing that team play something. Yeah yeah, like that's that's
that's feasible, that's something for you. I'm gonna just keep
investing it until it happens for you. But thank you
for sharing that, because you did a good job painting
the picture of what it's like for fans and why
it's important for one athlete to get back to the community,
(10:19):
even if it's not a community that you necessarily grew
up in, but to the impact that it has when
you could have a fan interaction, like you'll be fans
of them for life. Right, They didn't snub you. They weren't,
you know, snotty and rude to you. They they made
time for the people. Oh yeah, that's a big deal,
you know.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
And they're super nice everybody I talked to that autograph show.
The pictures will be out there Star Show, Instagram. But
oh man, they're so humble and and and oh man.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
That was awesome. The good good people, good people, very
good man.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
No man, I love it. Thank you for us kicking
off episode thirty seven with that. Like I knew you
were looking forward to it.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
I was looking forward to it, man.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
It didn't disappoint. If anything, it exceeded your expectation. And
hopefully that can be a yearly thing you guys get.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
To do you know, hopefully they come back. Just said
that like they love it here. Of course, I was
talking to the defensive land. I was talking about Local
Moco and Mixed Plade and like a guy can get
used to.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
Were like, yeah, man.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
They're all doing the Ezekiel Elliott.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
Just feed give me that LOCALO for sure.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
Man, Kobe Turner, I got to talk to him. He
was he was at Kadiok Singing. I don't know if
you know he was on Singer Mass Singer. Yeah, he
was a part of that, and yeah he can sing
those at the kadaoke jabbing, you know, with the people
in the local spot. Yeah, just down to her guys.
(11:50):
But millionaires, you know, I.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
About to say, the only thing that separates us and
there not only the size and speed and athleticism, but
the pop books. What does that drop?
Speaker 1 (12:01):
Show me the money, show me the money.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
Well show but it also goes to show like you
didn't have to spend a whole lot to do anything crazy,
like you know, like you sometimes the right place at
the right time.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Yea.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
Yeah, it's different when you got these people up in
real life and look them in the eye and shake
their hand and be like all right, man, I wish
you guys well. I hope you do well this season,
stay healthy and and and go get another Lombardy like
some of the members on that team have one. They
were on that Sean McVay team that got the job done.
So I'm stoked for you man again. You deserve it,
(12:36):
so sharing it and thank you. We know we got
a great episode. I mean, obviously we got to talk
about NBA Finals. We're gonna wrap that up. We had
some news in the NFL as well, and we'll finish
with some baseball, so you know, without further ado, let's
get started.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
Man, Let's let's let's go.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
Let's let's let's talk about let's just keep it in
the NFL. Since we're here, we'll get We'll got plenty
of time for basketball. One of the things we did
the dress in the last episode, which was a kind
of a big thing that that kind of I missed,
was Aaron Rodgers finally signed and he signed with the
Pittsburgh Steelers. What are your thoughts about that?
Speaker 1 (13:11):
Raters, you think d K will be? Is DK happy
right now because they got weapons or whatever?
Speaker 3 (13:20):
Well they do.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
We got to see all good Rogers is you know.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
That's That's that's where I'm going with it, Like, I'm
glad that he signed with the team that he beat
in the Super Bowl, right yeah, So I think that's ironic,
and uh, it's just funny. The memes were coming out
saying Mike Tomlin's five hundred record is finally going to
be brofiaten by Aaron Rodgers because they don't think one
he'll be healthier too, he's got anything left in the tank,
(13:47):
So I look, I wish him well. I don't really
much care for Aaron Rodgers the person. Also don't know
him personally, but but he's a heck of a quarterback
and if he's got anything left in the in the tank,
I would like to see see what he's got dk. Obviously,
Kay's the never one target because George Pickens, who was there,
is not the Cowboys. So I'd like to see what
(14:09):
he's got left and and what what the Steelers can do.
Obviously they're in a very competitive division. Everybody in that
division got better, so we'll see.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
Oh yeah, but that that division looks scary with the
Bengals and the Ravens, and I don't want to see
what Schadur can do if he gets a starting job
over there in Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
Well, I'm glad you brought up I'm glad you brought
up Shadur because he was my next talking point, which is,
I'm start calling Shador, start calling speed racer. What's this
going one hundred miles an hour getting pulled over by
the authorities.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Not a good look, That's not it. You ain't getting
no freebieus, not it at all. Because they're looking up
for you know, kids looking up to you.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
You know, you got to show that role model, you know,
be be a professional about it.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
Absolutely, And you think considering who his father is and
the negative attention that he brought to himself from the draft,
and you know it wasn't all him obviously, like that,
we know the NFL, that underbelly of the NFL is
an ugly place, right, look no further than John Grugen's emails,
and you see exactly what I'm talking about. So, like,
you'd be a fool to think that everything was by
(15:21):
the book and everything regarding his draft situation. But this
has got nothing to do with the draft. This is
what was going on between his personal life, his personal life,
in between his ears and his own mind. So for
him to make that decision. And I know he's only
twenty three. I don't need to get on here scolding him, but.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
We make we make these stage about I hope he
can learn from this.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
I hope so too. And I'm just glad that it
wasn't something that was tragic, right, Yes, so many of
these times you hear, look look at look at Henry
Ruggs and his situation, yeah, rits, look at look.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
At even even more promise career down the drink.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
Well and someone's life, right, And that's that's what it is.
You're driving a machine, yeah, a one ton machine at
sometimes uncontrollable speeds like nobody. Nobody plans to get in
an accident. That's why they call it an accident.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
Accident.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
Yeah, so, you know, very disheartening to see that, but again,
you know, it's NFL offseason. There's things. He's not the
first one. In fact, the Cleveland Cavaliers, almost the Cavalaris
Cleveland Browns have a whole roster of players who were
speeding and pulled over, so he's just added to it.
And then I saw this side by side meme of
(16:36):
Lebron James right, Akron's own Cleveland's finest got pulled over
for doing three bills in a sixty so that lebron
at the same age they were bout twenty three. So
it's like, yeah, you can recover, you can learn from it.
I just think it was a bad look and it
was really really bad timing for the situation. This is
h This is when he was supposed to prove everybody like, nah,
(16:58):
you guys made a mistake, and he went he went
about it the wrong way. So hopefully Dione gave him
an ear fool. Hopefully, you know, hopefully, you know, the
coaches can really just set him down and kind of
get to him because I'd like to see him do well.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
You know, the talent is there.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
He's one of the most accurate quarterbacks in college and
you put that in a profession in the in the NFL,
and hopefully they he can pick up the game faster
and the talent is there. Don't get me wrong, the
talent is there. He can't make that team good, I believe.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
No, they've been building and and the thing is too
for us. In the entertainment, the quarterback is the most
coverty position, right, Like, that's one where if you get
it right, and you can really prosper, you can turn
things around. Look at C. J. Stroud and Easton Texans
a couple of years back. Look look one year ago.
Jane Daniels like, Yeah, like, I mean, it's amazing what
(18:00):
you can accomplish when you get that position right. So
I just hope that he puts himself. I was gonna
say behind the driver's seat, that would have been good,
you know, and the driver's seat doing the speed limit
with his seatbelt on and really just kind of just
takes takes that job. Like I listen, I don't want
to see Joe Flacco in twenty twenty five, Okay, like
(18:22):
I you know what I mean, Like, let him be
an advisory type role. They already got more quarterbacks than
any other position on the rock.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Yeah, using him as a coach player, you know, he's
a player, and he's a he's coaching the young boy,
you know, old man George.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
Rolling up and there in his wheelchair.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
Yes, I'm hoping that they can get right. But but yeah,
just just you know again, I'm looking forward to having
a good season. You know, it's fun to be talking
about NFL. This season basketball just ended. We're about to
jump into.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
The NBA right after this.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
Yeah, so, but it's a it's a good time to
be a sports fan.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
It is. It is.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
Well, let's let's jump over to NBA real quick, because
you know we got to wrap that up NBA Finals
just right.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
Well, he was right, you called that, well I did.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
I did say, okay, see in seven. But look, I'm
not happy about how I got it now. You know,
I've been on this podcast talking about Halliburton. I had
a new nickname. I didn't want to get in trouble.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
I got a lot of means from you about how Yeah,
but now I just now I just feel bad.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
I was gonna get on this podcast hoping that okay
Se could win when he was on the court, but
instead of Tyresse Halliburton, he's Tyresse Hella Harton.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Why are you bringing up old stuff? I just felt
bad watching them go down.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
And yeah, and it's just he knew already what was no, no, no,
he knew it.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
And yeah, I don't want to get on this podcast
and gloat and say I was right, like a lot
of people had. Okay, see seven, right, they were a
great team from start to finish. Last season, now, writing
was on the wall, but they were facing a formidable
opponent in the Indiana Pacers. They they took them, they
took them to the brink, and unfortunately they lost their captain,
their star. They're all NBA. You know, point guard went
(20:18):
down after having one heck of a start. I mean,
the man had nine points you know, in the in
the first five to eight minutes something like that. It
was crazy. He was he was he was gonna have
a yeah feeling, and and you could just see the
the sales the win get deflated from that team watching
(20:38):
him go down and having to get helped off the court,
and you see you see you see the slow motion
and you see that thing pop and you're like, I've
seen that before, and you know where it took me
back to that finals, the final finals, Like this was
when KD was still when he left, Remember he was
having the cas straight and cas straight and that thing
finally went. And so that's right back to that. And
(21:01):
I think like, obviously, yeah, these guys are millionaires, they're
uber wealthy and all this, but for the entertainment factor,
we don't get to see them at the at the Pinnacle.
We're in the championship where all the all the marbles
are on the line. And then you think about it,
same thing with Dame Lillard and Jason Tatum. You you
go down with an achilles, bro you're done for the
(21:23):
whole next season.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Yeah, oh through that time, the next time, that that
time you popped it.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
Yeah, we lose you for a good nine to ten months.
And that that recovery process. It used to be a
deal breaker. You used to have an acl or or
an achilles, and that would that would turn your career
for the worst.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
Speaking of Kevin Durant, somebody who came back for him,
you know strong, But that's not always the case. And
again from the entertainments perspective, mean you got fans calling
for shorter seasons, Get rid of the playing tournament, get
rid of the NBA nd season tournament, because it's just
too much on these guys bodies. When Haliberg went down,
(22:03):
he was making a routine.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
Move, you know, crossover.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
Yeah, and it just goes to show you, like, I mean,
these are world class athletes. It's not like he jumped
on the court. It didn't warm up, Like, but if
we knew that it was a possibility, and I just
hate to see it because even him at eighty percent
say that didn't happen. May have been enough for Indiana
to scare their first and only NBA championship, right they
(22:29):
won in the ABA.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
But nothing.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
Yeah, but let me what are your thoughts? What did
you enjoy the series? Like I know you had Okay, it.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
Was a good series. It was a good series. I
knew I had him.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
In six they got smashed and in Indiana by Indiana.
But going into game seven, I was like, ooh, it's
a toss up already. Indiana show him that they can't
win in that kind of environment in the playoffs, and
Halliburton took that least shot and when won it for them.
So and like you said, he got off nice and hot.
They they don't get me wrong. They played good into
(23:02):
the beginning of the third and it just went downhill
from there.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
But if allow Burnon was there, I think maybe he
would have made it a game.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
Maybe it'll be fighting back and forth, taking the lead
all the way through and just whoever get the last
the last shot was there?
Speaker 3 (23:19):
I think I was gonna say, man, we know who
was taking that last shot, which was Tart SEALABURNI and like,
you know, like I want to feel bad because I
mean I was talking all that smack about him.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
And he didn't like the man.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
And then and then they had to show his dad
up in the thing, and like.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
His dad admittedly he knew what was.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
And then and then of course you see Reggie Miller
just sunking. He just was just mad, mad at the
whole world. And I'm like, how can somebody so beautiful
be so sad?
Speaker 1 (23:53):
Man is Chris Mothery Jersey, Chris Jersey.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
He had came before, had Jaylen Rose. Yeah, yeah, Reggie
was doing his thing. I mean he could pull off
the jersey tucked in with the jeans and the things.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
With the big belt and the high jeens.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
I was I was dising Reggie and all that before.
But like like that was big of him to be
there in the tunnel, Yeah, letting him know, like obviously
he's been in that situation. He wasn't able to get
the title himself. So he thought, really this was the team,
and they really had a good chance.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
I had a good team that year, the Davis Brothers,
Rick Smith, McKees, Miller, Jackson had a chance fell Yeah, So.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
But no, big on him for being there. You know
that embrace he had with t J McConnell. And you know,
everybody just shoot tears because the year by golly, he's
a weasel.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
You're like QP head up guys, and he's right.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
And look, and that's the thing about sports, right you
thin about it, Like, yeah, these guys are super wealthy
and making all this money, but they're very passionate about
what they do and like you think, so.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
How they do their whole life, you know, yeah, and
as every little kid dreaming a backshooting five, you know,
I mean the NBA Finals Game seven five for a.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
Tree too, you know, as everybody's dream together.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
Like even though professional athletes when when they said when
when when they feel do come on, man, it's just.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
A kids sport. We're just here to have fun. Man
became you know, we had fun playing this at one time.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
You know.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
Yeah, yeah, they're really emotional about that, I said, because
all the hard work that they put in, the sacrifice
that especially the family, making their sacrifice for for their
for their for their family. And yeah, it's a lot
of wear in there. And with this what you said
about the playing whatever and uh that the what is
(25:55):
that the title the tournament in tournament? Yeah, I get
it all that, man, that's that's yeah, just kipping how
it was before it was doing good.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
I don't know. That's when NBA was at its finest,
most watched, and now it's they're putting all this stuff
on and nobody wants to watch that. Get rid of it.
Just stick to the old school and let everybody enjoy it.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
Then there was there was a lot of critique, I mean,
and one of the things I'd say that kind of
took away from my joy in the NBA finals because
you know me, I too did this is like the
most dedicated basketball I watched the majority of the playoffs,
Like I probably watched seventy five eighty percent of the
games that were available. And obviously we'd run this podcast
(26:40):
and it's different than just getting box scores and talking
about it. But I really got a feel. I got revival.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
Yeah, you're watching the game, you feel that, you know, like, oh,
maybe they can't turn it around in this game, or
if they if they win this game, they get chats
or yeah, a look good series.
Speaker 3 (26:57):
Well yeah, and then and then just thinking about just
in its entirety, like we were complaining before about how
the game has changed. It's not physical, but the Recks
were letting them play.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
Hey, there was letting no play. I was. I was excited,
especially for the Indiana OKC man. It brought me back
a lot of physicality, a lot of.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
Defense, Like there was those hacking at that ball man,
if they got a strip, nobody whistle, don't blow play on.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
I kind of enjoy the finals.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
And that's that's the thing too. Even going back to
the injury that Terry's Haliburton sustained, It's like there was
no physicality in that. That thing just went like I
hate to see the injuries. I don't like to watch
those slow modes of people getting hurt, Like I don't
need to see that. I mean that that could happen anytime.
You could. You could get out of your truck and
blow your knee.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
Out, you know what I mean, especially the non contact. Yeah, injuries,
that's the worst A c l achilles, you.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
Know, yeah mc l Well, it just it's a nice
reminder too. I mean, we are fragile beings. We are
fraction fragile emotional beings at our core. So like enjoy
when it's good, when you can go see your rams
and go do a little staycation when you can go,
you know what I mean, Like you appreciate the little
things when you go through some hardships. And I have
(28:19):
no doubt he'll be back. I think Dame Lillar will
come back. He'll be hungry. I definitely think Jason Tatum
will be back. He'll be hungry.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
And for the fans, I just hope that we continue
to get this high elevated play of basketball. I do
want to shift things here too, to the OKAC thunder.
The chance that that seam was that seam was special.
We were on this podcast talking about they were too young.
Last year, their immaturity showed, their inexperience showed. But this
year they are crown champions. And you got to look
(28:50):
at the the m v P shake Gilchris Alexander, not
only the regular season MVP, but the finals MVP as.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
Well VP jointure in the playoff game you train s
thoughts about was the highest points per game in the
in the playoffs. Yeah, and and through the finals. Yeah,
there was no doubt he was gonna be at and
his game is smooth man.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
I like him. Can we call him the smooth operator.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
He is smooth.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
Yeah, they run through the spot, pump, fake the mid
range shot. That's money.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
You know what I liked about his game and then
particularly in Game seven he struggled eight to twenty seven
for the field, still still got you know, he produced
and finally hit a couple of three pointers. But I
liked that he was getting his team involved. Like It's
like he took a page out of Halliburton's book and
shout out to him too. When Halliburton went down. There's
that viral shot of him going to check in, you
(29:49):
know and let him know. Like, you know, because at
their competitors at the end of the day, and I
like to see the best of the best going against
the best, and nobody at the beginning predicted a Indiana
Pacers OKAC thunder finals, right, like nobody wanted that. We
all were all pulling for the Knicks just to have
a big, a big market team minute. But but going
(30:10):
back to Shake Gilders, Alexander, congratulations to him, very humble.
This was a big year for him. I mentioned he
joined the Lead Company with winning the regular season MVP
scoring and NBA Finals MVP. So he joined the Korea
Kareem Jordan's shack and SGA. That's it. That's the list
(30:30):
of the history for winning scoring champion, m v P
and NBA Finals MVP. That's that's a huge deal. And
I was I was listening to the odd couple shout
out to f S one Fox Sports Radio, and they
were talking about OKAC and you know, it's known for
a couple of things like Timothy McVeigh and that bomb
(30:52):
that went off, right, So now they feel vindicated having
this championship because before then all you could point to
was younger US, young hearted and young KD. And they
went to the finals, but they one game.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
Yeah, No, that thing was special too.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
I must say Hardy coming off the bench, Yeah, that
was a special, special group.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
No, just shout out to them. I mean, I'm I'm stoked.
I feel like I got everything I needed to out
of this NBA season. It's been absolutely wonderful. Again, shout
out to the Pacers. Terry's Halliburton had fifty one made threes.
That's good for that's good for sixth all time in
Pacers history. Reggie Miller's up there at number two with
(31:35):
fifty eight. But aaron NEI Smith, who fouled out six
times in the playoffs, has the most fifty nine made threes.
I mean, he told me he couldn't get hot down
the stretch.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
Like may he could have.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
And you know, okay, see fans were clutching their pearls
because the Pacers were fighting. TJ. McConnell got that spark
at the third quarter. Yeah, well the issue was the
third quarter they had seven turnovers and just came out
flat like that's last man.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
We never had that energy like that in the first half. Yeah,
like like there was fighting for Hallenburton, you know, like,
no way, man, we got this, We got this for him.
You know. Then after the third quarter there seems like
nobody wanted to pick the shot. D Yeah.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
I think the weight of the situation hit them maybe.
I mean, the news had been confirmed that he wasn't
coming back then it was a lower extremity, and that
it was an achilles once his dad had you know,
mentioned that, and it just I think it just again
took the wind out of their sails and just it
put them in a bad spot. But I mean, you know,
hats off to them for competing down the stretch. You know,
(32:36):
they didn't get blown out by forty. They still made
it competitive. If they could have gotten anything from Pascal
Siakam and Miles Turner, it would have been close, you know.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
But I thought would have stepped up and then, you know,
be more aggressive. I came into the whole more, you know,
getting them into foul trouble getting back to the line,
making it, you know, like a scrappy guy, you know.
Speaker 3 (33:01):
And I thought so too, like the heart of a champion,
as you know, he was on that Toronto team. Yeah, so,
and I was looking. I was like, between him or
Alex Caruso. I would like to see both of them
be two time champions with two different teams. Like I
really wanted it go back to Pasco Siaka. If you
know that meme where it shows him like when they're
praying and he looks all crazy. You know, thought I
(33:22):
thought he was about to channel some some Sudanese demons
or something to will their way in to the championship.
But I guess they fell short. And so again, hats
off NBA. Great job this season. I'm really really proud.
I'm really glad that I got to see it. But
you know, shout out to Shay Gilders Alexander, the NBA
(33:44):
Most Valuable Player, NBA Finals, MVP Western Conference Finals, MVP
NBA All Start, All NBA First Team, NBA Scoring champion,
and got a new signature shoot deal. So like, this
man's on top of the world right here, this man,
this man put.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
In trade them away.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
Imagine that. I if you're Paul George watching this and
you see what they got a haul for him, that
make it look like the worst trade ever, don't it? No,
it is schell No, you know, Shae Gilchris Alexander, you
may average thirty two point seven points per game during
the regular season, the most in the title winning season
(34:24):
in NBA history, passing Michael Jordan, who averaged thirty two
point six in the ninety ninety three season. And and
why that stat is important, It's because remember, like with Harden,
like guys who dribbled, dri dribbled the ball score all
these points, but it never really translated to winning, Like
we hadn't seen that since the ninety two to ninety
three season for it to actually win.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
So for him to score champion and no winner never
come out to be a winn.
Speaker 3 (34:50):
Yeah, no, it doesn't. It doesn't really relate because We
know basketball is a team sport and you need everybody
to get into it. So I'm I'm very, very happy
about the situation and the fact that we have parody.
You have seven different champs going back to the Night
to the Raptors, right, so you had the twenty nineteen Raptors,
then your Lakers won the Bubble Mickey Mouse fake fake
(35:14):
ring right during COVID. The Bucks took my sons out
in twenty twenty one after they were down two. Oh,
Warriors got that ring that I think step needed to
win his fourth ring beating the young Celtics team. He
needed that obviously. We know the Nuggets, which now I'm
looking at it now three years of back Celtics obviously
(35:34):
won and then now the thunder we got to. The
NBA is looking a lot different than those twenty Warriors
calves going back and forth.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
You know.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
Yeah, it's changes turning to a deeper relief now with
all this young cats coming up, Sha and everybody else,
a lot of young ones that are coming up, Yeah,
and that making a big big change of changing of
the guard. Like Lebron guy's getting old, Curry's getting old,
(36:08):
and all his young books coming back. So Yeah, it's exciting.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
Is Lebron old? Is he?
Speaker 1 (36:14):
Is?
Speaker 3 (36:15):
He? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (36:17):
Is that old? Let me tell you, I'm just joking.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
No, we got to go on commercial break. But I
mean Lebron James, he just cracks me up. He just
is always putting himself in it and something. And I
saw somewhere where he was on board with shortening the season.
And I'm trying to find a quote, but it's like,
wait a minute, okay, so here it is all right.
(36:44):
So the tweet is totally getting it, but it says
Lebron James says the NBA should consider changing games from
forty eight minutes to forty minutes in adopting theva's goaltending role.
So sounds good, but when you really break down, it's like,
sounds like this man's trying to protect his record and
(37:05):
nobody else gets to him. You're talking about shortening the
game by eight minutes right here, Like, nah, this is
the USA, this is where you made your bread and
butter from the fever where.
Speaker 1 (37:17):
You cannot it's a cylinder. It's vaunting on the cylary.
Speaker 3 (37:21):
You can whack it right, Try again, Lebron, you missed
the mark on this one. This is coming from a
guy who made All NBA Second Team with a negative
thirty six rating, the only person ever do that. This
is coming from a guy who took the back seat
a little too late in terms of when Luka Doncic
came over and we saw it down the stretch right there.
(37:42):
This is coming from a guy who is the super
team aired.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
I mean, like his his legacy him went off the
super team would he win man?
Speaker 3 (37:51):
And it just sucks because again, like Lebron James is
second best player of all time basketball okay, without a
doubt behind his airness, But when when stuff like this
comes out, it's more like, like the only thing more
egregious that he said in the last couple of weeks
after getting eliminated in an embarrassing fashion is him not
taking any accountability saying, oh, it wasn't just me and Luca,
(38:14):
there's eight other guys. There's like, so, yeah, throw your
teammates out of the bus right here. You know you
should have started with your podcast partner j JJ reddick JJ.
Don't don't take any starters out Reddick. You know, I
just it just drives me nuts because, again, like Lebron
does it to himself, he diminishes his own legacy by
(38:34):
opening his mouth and the things that he could be
saying advocate for the game, and just I just feel
like it's like I don't know, it's just.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
He's just saying there's other guys, but like it's everybody.
You know, if he makes a mistake, everybody makes a mistake.
You Oh, it's not just you out there.
Speaker 1 (38:53):
It's a team. That's why you call it a team sport.
Speaker 3 (38:56):
I don't like it. I don't like it at all.
And again it's just it's like why Bron, Why it's unnecessary,
you know what I mean? Like I would have I
would have liked to see him do a little bit better,
go out on his old terms. I don't want to
see old man on the block getting up and getting down,
like like.
Speaker 1 (39:15):
Just just it's okay, go away, you're good, you got you.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
Got it, bro. And that's the thing, like, don't hang
around with your son. Yeah you got that, you got
that legacy. They like just take the winds now, I'm
gonna hold out wait till Bryce comes and it's like okay,
well that's how we're gonna remember Lebron James Like yeah, anyway,
(39:44):
it's like I don't want to. I don't want to
say too much on it. I said my piece go home,
bron it's time. What is that is that, Malcolm in
the middle. Mean the future is now old man?
Speaker 1 (39:57):
You know the future is now old man.
Speaker 3 (39:59):
Yeah, that's it. But yeah, let's take a quick commercial break.
When we come back, let's let's talk a little let's
talk a little MLB. Wrap this thing up. This is
brother Matt Parker. I got brother Noel here big on
ad sports talk show. We will be right back.
Speaker 1 (40:15):
You better get your stuff together back and we making
a playoff front brother.
Speaker 3 (40:28):
The beginning of the year can be a stressful time.
Everyone's flaunting their new year's resolutions and newfound energy. Are
you finding it difficult with the motivation?
Speaker 1 (40:39):
Oh? Lad?
Speaker 3 (40:40):
Introducing a company that knows that you're not getting anything
done without the proper motivation. A company that gets it.
Introducing resolution Busters. We specialize in busting other people's resolutions
so that you don't have to feel bad about not

Speaker 1 (40:57):
I like the balls on this guy.
Speaker 3 (40:58):
Do you have an over zealous friend that to run
a marathon? By golly, he's a weasel. How about a
sibling that's making you look bad by flaunting all of
their accomplishments. We'll even go as far as to expose
the people who claim they were at a thousand books
in a year. False you did not. Resolution Busters takes
pride in exposing over zealous people to make everyone feel

private citizens. Sign up now for a monthly newsletter. This
is domb all right, welcome back to Big Out in
Sports talk show. Brother Noel here having a good time. Yeah,
(42:03):
it's time for some baseball. Take me out to the
ball games, take me out to the Crown Pall playall playball. Indeed,
welcome well, I mean, look, I gotta say, when I
watch baseball tomorrow, I get into it. Man White and
(42:26):
night was just fun. Why you didn't tell me it
was this fun?
Speaker 1 (42:29):
I'll be telling you this whole time at you. No,
you did.
Speaker 3 (42:31):
You're telling me. You've been telling me, he said, just
you said, just be a Dodgers fan. I promise it's cool.
Speaker 1 (42:36):
As your life will be good.
Speaker 3 (42:42):
The Dodgers spent a lot of money. Well right now
it is. I mean, like I'm watching some good baseball.
I mean and like, like I literally watched Joel Tany
not getting his twenty seventh finger of the season earlier
before getting on beating up on the Colorado Rockies. But
who else doesn't you know what I mean, nobody does.
Speaker 1 (43:00):
Everybody does. Why can't we You know I'd be there
in our division?
Speaker 3 (43:05):
So yes, So you'll see him a couple of times.
You got a couple of easy wins, stack.
Speaker 2 (43:09):
Him, you know, stock them off. Let's go, let's get
their best record under the Tigers.
Speaker 1 (43:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (43:16):
I was gonna say, Detroit's like we have entered the chat.
We got something to say about that. But you know
the team that I was talking about, and there were
only several games above five hundred. I think they got
their forty first win. They're forty one and thirty seven.
But the Seattle Mariners, man, I really like the Seattle Marritters.
Speaker 2 (43:37):
Yeah, they're right there too in their division and they're
like what five games behind I think it was, they're
up there.
Speaker 3 (43:43):
And I mentioned Kyl Rawley last time, the big dumper
and the catcher leading the major leagues. He had hit
his twenty fifth home run. Well he's up to thirty
two now, and let's nice, let's hear how that sounded
right here? Well, the number.
Speaker 1 (44:08):
One games the first time.
Speaker 3 (44:17):
Or home runs consecutive games. Thirty two is a total.
And I was yesterday. I don't know if they played today,
he might he might have hit another one, but it's
really thirty two.
Speaker 1 (44:31):
Yeah yeah man.
Speaker 3 (44:34):
And like again, I mean, they're forty one and thirty seven,
nothing to write home about, but it doesn't matter on
the road. At home, this guy is smacking them and
it makes me it's really encouraging because not everybody can't
hit home runs, right, not a home run hitter. And
you know what I mean, Like before a couple of
weeks ago, I didn't I didn't know, Kyle Rally was,
(44:56):
you know what I mean, But you catch storyline, it's intriguing.
You're hoping they can continue it. And then to see it,
I mean when he goes up to the bad I'm like, well, shoot,
there goes another one right here, and like, I mean,
I know, it's like obviously there are other big name
sluggers in the league.
Speaker 1 (45:14):
Right we talked about show.
Speaker 3 (45:15):
Hey, we talked about Aaron Judge. You know, Raphael Devers
for the Giants hit his first home run two. You
know it's it's Ronald accoun Or Junior. I'm smacking him
like he was out with injury and it smacks the
home run in his first at bat. It's it's it's
really cool to see baseball in a healthy place. And
(45:37):
again as I as I watch more of it, I
really just have more of an appreciation. Still haven't been
in the bating cages though, but I definitely kind of
got knocked that out.
Speaker 1 (45:48):
Oh definitely you should get some stress out, you know.
Speaker 3 (45:53):
Man, all I said, that's assuming I can hit the ball.
My swing is terrible, but I mean I also don't
wanted to mess up my golf swing. So we'll see
how that what cross that bridge. Will we get there?
Because it's not like my golf swing is anything special anyway,
so they might need a little tweak. But but yeah,
I just want to pivot to your Dodgers man, your boys,
(46:15):
showy show Hey, seven hundred billion dollar man. Yes, it's
been on the mound the last.
Speaker 1 (46:21):
Two the last two games when he started.
Speaker 3 (46:24):
Yeah, what are you thinking about that? Like they obviously
did it out of necessity because.
Speaker 1 (46:31):
Yeah, you wanted to. Well, he's been Troy and he
is a pitcher. The last two audience he went.
Speaker 2 (46:37):
He looked good for the two innings that he played
for the last two games, getting back to form. I
don't expect them to use them him a lot. Maybe
toward birds the playoffs or getting towards the playoffs, they
might blive them in for more innings hopefully.
Speaker 1 (46:53):
And yeah, and he's he's doing good. I think so well.
Speaker 3 (46:59):
I'm mean for me, I'm just thinking it's so early
in the season, the fact that they're calling on his arm,
knowing what he's only a year or moved from Tommy
John right, so when the season started, and obviously they
walked away from Walker Buehler, who is having an atrocious season.
He is. He has fallen off. But but but the
(47:24):
pitching seemed to have been solidified at the start of
the season now has been rocked a few times. You know, Tazuki,
you can curseh of Curshaw is finally getting He came
back and being good. He showed up. Let's let's not
say he came back. I mean, he never really went anywhere.
(47:45):
But but look, I'm happy for him. If he hasn't
already gotten to that three thousand strikeouts, and.
Speaker 1 (47:53):
He's pretty close his.
Speaker 3 (47:54):
Next start, he should get it. I mean, we'll see
how it is, because if he goes you know two
words an he pitched and walks for people like I
don't think Dave Roberts. Yeah, and at this point, even
though the playoffs weren't really his strong suit, never was,
he did get over the hump. He did get the
ring and hopefully you know, got that monkey.
Speaker 2 (48:15):
He didn't play anything. It just hit last year. Yeah,
it was just swinging up out, that's it. It wasn't contruted. Well,
he was contributing a lot, but he got his ring.
Speaker 3 (48:26):
He was the one handed out the orange slices after
the game and the game, I'm just messing around well,
let me tell you this. I'm just to wrap up
with this. I'm gonna tell you his story because I
knowed you'd appreciate it. So I'm at my desk and
I'm hoping this gentleman comes in. He's like, oh, I'm
(48:46):
with the housekeeping crew. And I'm like, oh, thank you
guys for coming, because we utilized third party to clean
the apartment homes. To turn them right, they gotta be
professionally clean. And I'm just sitting here typing on my
computer and I look in the corner of mind. This
guy's just staring at me and he's like, bro, don't
take this the wrong way. And you know, when somebody
says that, I'm thinking, I'm about to take this okay,
Well cat what this man surprised the heck out of me.
(49:11):
He said, you know what he said, don't take this
the wrong way, but you look just like Mookie Bets.
I just started laughing. I started laughing.
Speaker 1 (49:22):
Bro.
Speaker 3 (49:22):
I didn't know what else to do because that's not
the first time I heard that, so I had to
look it up. I told him. I was like, look,
you know height and wait pretty pretty close.
Speaker 1 (49:31):
You know, he's literally there, man.
Speaker 3 (49:32):
It was pretty sure, five nine one seventy five and
I'm here five ten, one seventy two. And then, of
course I had just shaved my head, so my head
was bald and just got the chin strap, so it
was only added fuel to the fire. But I just
thought that was so funny. I was like, that made
my whole day. I was like, I can't wait to
tell brother Nola, because.
Speaker 1 (49:51):
Yeah, I sit here for the weekend, you know, and
I go back to LA on the weekdays.
Speaker 3 (49:57):
I just help people find apartments in my spare time.
Speaker 1 (50:00):
Big deal, you know.
Speaker 3 (50:00):
So I thought I thought that was so funny because
he was looking at me like he really thought.
Speaker 1 (50:05):
He was like, that's a good guy to be, you know,
a look alike, which you know.
Speaker 3 (50:09):
Well, it was so funny because I told my wife
and she's like, okay, let's send me some photos. So
of course I go Google and go, you know, look
at some images, and some of them, I'm like, I
don't see it at all. He just he's one of
those all brothers, like the same type of dudes. But yeah,
but then, but then I sent a couple to my
wife and she was cracking up. She's like, I can
(50:30):
definitely see what you.
Speaker 1 (50:31):
See them exam. You can see it. It's like if
you turned up the right way and like.
Speaker 3 (50:37):
Uh huh yeah, except I can't hit. I ain't got
pocketbooks like that, so I'm not a two time champion
different franchises, but we are about the same height and weight.
Speaker 1 (50:48):
So I just got that. That is awesome, man, thank you.
Speaker 3 (50:52):
I was like, it's not as cool as seeing the
rams and everything up close, but yeah.
Speaker 1 (50:57):
From mistaken for a supercar, I will think that. Ye
playing my ways in the restaurant Mooki for two.
Speaker 3 (51:03):
Yeah, it's on the house too, right, Yeah, it's catching
this huh the double local mocho right there?
Speaker 1 (51:11):
Yeah, yeah like that.
Speaker 3 (51:13):
