five o'clock workouts, man, getting cook called ready for the season.
How are you feeling, man? Like, Please get some words
of encouragement. It's hard to get up at five o'clock
in the morning.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
And I feel better, man, I feel great about myself,
running on two miles every day, exercising, especially Waitlist with
my son Kick. He's been getting up early too. He does.
He thinks I'm a bad guy from right now.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
He's all mad and like this is dumb.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
But I told him at the end, you're gonna really
really feel it and in such towards the season, and
you're gonna I appreciate it more that you you got
up and I did the extra work.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Absolutely, And I think it just starts to be disciplined,
which is go to bed all time. Make sure you're
giving your body what it needs, which is you know food,
like think about food like fuel. Right what you're putting in,
you're getting out. And then you know, you made a
great point, which is you when everybody's tired and gas
in the third or fourth quarter, you're gonna have that

(02:12):
extra reserve to keep going because you put in the
work in the off season.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
You're gonna see the guys that put in the work.
You know.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
Yeah, absolutely, that's how you separate from the top. But
I'm glad that you're benefiting directly from it, not only
in his development, but.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
For you too.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
I mean, look, you're in your forties, you know we
all start to slow down. Yeah, start third We started.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
To wait as like you can think awaited so much
and when you're older than when you're younger.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
At least when you're younger you.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Can burn it out, you know, doing activities and stuff,
going cruising through it with your friends and stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
But absolutely your.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Forties from man, you gotta you gotta battle yourself. Man,
come on, get up, just get up this do put
in the work I wanted to.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Absolutely, man, I'm proud of you. And look for the
Big Island sports talk show listeners. We're here for you.
Got an agenda that is packed full. Of course, we
are literally right around the corner from football. That's crazy, right,
I mean, what's the thirty first? We got Chargers and
Lions man preseason football in campon Ohio Hall of.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Fame game starting off starting.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
To stuf good? Actually, you know because sometimes you know,
the NFL be giving us some Google matchups, you know
what I mean? And I don't when people are excited
about something, give me something, right, it's just preseason. But
for us, you know, the entertainment factor, we're excited about that.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
That's why. Yeah, not on the records, but.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
At least something to talk about. So yeah, so we
got NFL coming up here. We talk a little Steelers
and Anon Rodgers, aa Ron, maybe some Cam Morris, some
Shador Sanders looking good in camp, definitely, maybe touch on
the MLB All Star Game home run derby. And we
got some NBA action too. We got to talk about

(03:51):
some NBA movements. So, you know, without further a doo it,
let's get started, man, so again starting Canton, Ohio preseason football.
It's a big deal in the sense of, oh, you know,
the air is just cleaner. You just feel better what
football is in the air, you know, I mean it's
still one hundred.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
It's cooler.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Yeah, I mean, you know, you walk with a little
pep and you stay knowing on Sundays and Thursdays and Mondays.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Mondays.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Yeah, and then if the NFL had its way with
these Saturday too over reserving college football.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
But but for me, I mean we're bad.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
We started this podcast at the start of the draft
last year.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
You know, yeah, he was going number one and here
we are.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
Going strong over a year. But tell me, what what
are you excited about most this season?

Speaker 1 (04:39):
Well? I didn't see the new uh the new rookies
that come in. I see what they got to offer. Uh,
like take Camboard, uh, Sudar Sanders looking good. Uh, there's
a lot of battles in camps. It's the most exciting ones. Yeah,
I mean you hear.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Oh, this guy's doing good from from being into another team,
like uh, free agents and all that. You see all
they're doing with their with their team, getting good with
their new team, and yeah, it's gonna be exciting once football.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Starts, going to Super Bowl or what.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
I just want to make the playoffs first. The playoffs, Well,
the first goal is trying to win the West.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
Yeah, you get up the.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Shiest record in the NFL, but you win your division,
you're in, So that's the first order.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
You're right.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
No, they look what Eli Mann did, right, I mean
they snuck in right six and ten something like that.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
But no, I mean I get it.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Your hesitancy told me everything. I'm like, n C West,
stay away from them, don't bet them in that I'm
talking about my favorite team or my favorite coach in
the West, which is Shanahan, because his team ain't going nowhere.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
I know a lot of I know that's just predicting
them to win the West. So it gonna be interesting.
And I haven't heard I.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Heard a damn thing about it. Man, I mean fortys
you know, most of the times you hear everything in
the off season about him. This is their year, Christian
mccaffery's coming back. That you know, you're not gonna have
Brandon now, you which they gave a lot of money
to last year. But now you got Juwan Jennings, you
demanding the trade, wants.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
More money, us more money.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
And I'm like, hey, bro, take a look at Terry
Sterry Terry McLaurin. They can't even pay him with the
Commanders right now.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
So yeah, good luck trying to I say, pay pay him.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
He was there from the Donalds and falls and and
I said, he did actually pretty good, pretty decent.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
He did. He did turn some hands just last year.
Paid them. Ant I say, paid the man, show me
the money.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
I mean, look, you don't.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
I'm not gonna run gadget players with the ball all day.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Yeah, Debo's gone. You know what what, Uh, Ricky pursol.
I should hopefully you have a good sophomore season if
you don't get shot.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Oh, rick He's okay.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
You know, it's not a laughing matter, but you know
that's like and you know, I mean, look, we'll see
for me. Uh maybe it's a good thing. That they're
quiet in the offseason, because you know, when you do
a lot of chirping and you have no results like
the Cowboys do. Sorry, Dwayne, that's his face.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
And can we pay Michael Parsons to please?

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Oh? Yes, see, I totally forgot. I was like him
and Jerry Jones going at it.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
The fun there practice a little couple of days ago.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Look, the Cowboys should just withdraw for the NFL. Okay,
what they should do is start a reality TV show
and and just calling Jerry's World, okay, and then and
everybody will tune in. You'll still get ratings, You'll still
get you and we don't have to watch crappy football.
How about that?

Speaker 1 (08:03):
You know, Like I don't know.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
Now I'm excited. Dak Prescott looks good. Obviously they have
the addition a new wide receiver edition, which is George
Pickett's right here, Rickets and him and Ceee Lamb, you know,
arguably obviously they haven't done anything yet, but on paper
that's a solid one two punch, right, So I mean,
we'll see, we will see. As for me, as a

(08:27):
broad FEELDS fan, I mean, we finally signed our first
round draft pick. Oh thank goodness, you know, but we'll see.
I do want to say this though, so you know,
I'm at least a consultant, right, I work at an
apartment complex. I got to show it gains real quick
look at one of my my residents made for me.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Check this out.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
Just just gave it to me today.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Oh no, Derry gonna live it back, very very nice.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
I like that. But yeah, it's a real blurry. I mean,
I don't know. There it is right there, there it is. Yeah,
I've seen the first one. Nice. That's damn, that's sick. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
So just to describe it to some of the listeners, it's,
I mean, I don't know what he did. He did
some crazy artwork, right. So it's the Denver Broncos.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
The horse.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
There's two of them, kind of face an opposite way
as an American flag kind of in between both of them.
I mean, just crazy talented.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
I mean, this guy's nice.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Hey, match is gonna take a picture of it and
put it up on the Big Islands First Talk Show
on Instagram.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
If you guys want to go check that out and
give us a follow while you're there, you know.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
Absolutely, yeah, please give us a follow. We appreciate it.
We're worth it, all right, And no, it was just
I thought that was cool.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
You know, that was nice man. I dig that.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
I told my start getting loopterior and I was like, hey,
just make sure you pay your rent all time, man.
And I'm just kidding, but it was that made my
whole day. I thought that was really sweet of them.
And you never know, man, when you're kind to people,
you never know people. You know, blessings in the work behind.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
The stand and this go goes a long way.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
Man, Absolutely so. And I'm over here not being kind
to my team and Sean Payton because you know, you
know how I feel about him, a big honest.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
Sports I think they're gonna surprise you this this year.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
Look they better and look his thing because mister the
resident that made this thing for me, he's a Broncos fan.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
That's why he did it right.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
And he predicted that the Broncos would go to the
Super Bowl victorious over the Washington Commanders. And what we
saw last year, we know Washington was it was close.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Those closed. That was the game away from the super
Bowl game away.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
But you know what the problem with that prediction is,
we worked. I mean, come on now, like, yeah, we
had top ten defense and then you know, go up
seven zero against Buffalo and then the final scores forty
forty one to seven, like we got malin Wap bamboozle
take it to the barn, right what like.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
Oh they learned from that from this year. Yeah, we
had some.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
People that were green, that were raw, but look it.
Speaking of green, we got green law. You know, I'm
hoping everybody can stay healthy. But at the end of
the day, good pick up if the Bucks starts with
the quarterback.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
And the coach, you know what I mean. Yeah, but
it comes down to it balanced offense.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
We need to see development on you know, hearing good
things out out of training camp from the bron Phillis,
but everybody zero zero. It's good to be optimistic, but
I like to be realistic when it comes to my
team because it makes the disappointment a little easier to
deal with. Right.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
Yeah, you know, so I don't know.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Will they make the playoffs again? The better they should
if they don't. Sean Payton get.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
Off my team. I like the balls on this guy.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Get let somebody else in, right, Walmart, they got the money,
they'll get rid of them. But no, I'm I'm being facetious,
but I really am excited.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
I mean, you know it's just that might be baling
FC wes.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
Well, are they going to deep roll the Chiefs?

Speaker 2 (12:00):
It was close last year, I said, from a controversial
call that could have won the Chiefs.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
But even like the Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
All right, let's let's be real, all right, the Chiefs
even with a geriatric old man Travis Kelsey coming back,
you're getting Rashid Rice comeback.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
Patrick Mahomes, No, I think he might be suspended at
first four games.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
Oh what it's about time, because you know, nothing came
from no obviously him getting hurt, you know, missing the
majority of the season last year, but the man was
still involved in a hit and run. So I'm like, yes,
something gotta get right. Yeah, thank goodness, nobody was maimed
or killed, you know, like the Hindry situation. But you

(12:44):
gotta come down if you're in the NFL, right, you
gotta you.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
Gotta disappears, have some sort of discipline, you know. Yeah,
well look.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
Talking about discipline staying in the NFL. Justin Tucker finally
got his right. Now he's technically a free agent because
the Baltimore Reagans didn't release him, but he's serving a
ten game suspension if he ever does get picked up,
which I doubt he will.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Because maybe in the playoffs when they really need somebody,
really need a kicker, sometimes that team is like, maybe
we should give him a try, you know, I since
you're guy's struggling and stuff.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
You know, you never know, you know who I hope
picks him up Buffalo. And here's why, because Buffalo's got
a history of kickers missing going Why why right in
the playoffs? And I would love for him to pick
him up. And we know he's washed. Hey, justin take
your ball and go home, bro harassing people and molesting people,

(13:38):
you know what I mean. I know he's a kicker
and you're not a quarterback like Deshaun Watson, But this
made like under the radar, right, like just you know,
I just I can't stand him. And it's funny because
I didn't think that any kicker would be on my
more discust list than Harrison Buffer last year.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
You know how he felt about him. I thought he
was on the number one who knows.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
And it's funny because both of them were number one
back to back, Like who's the best kicker in the NFL.
Now they're number one on the.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
List, right, So yeah, like that's right.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
It just goes to show you life comes at you fast.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
No, it does, it does? It does?

Speaker 3 (14:12):
I don't know, man, I just it's it's just a trick.
But I mean coming back. So we mentioned Cam Warwick
earlier number one pick and this year's draft. I was
just looking on Twitter X whatever you call it. The
man is showing up and showing out. Man, this this
man is tearing it up. They showed this, this amazing
pass to Tyler Lockett, who is surprisingly still proactive and productive.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
And into the league.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
But man, the Titans might be scary good in the ANFCC.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
So yeah, what do you think?

Speaker 3 (14:46):
What do you just hope to see how cam Ward
this year?

Speaker 1 (14:50):
I think he might.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
I think he's going to turn that team around from
what was last year? Can any get any worser than that?

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Right? The number one pick hard to watch.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
They had weapons back there last year, but they just
had a quarterback. So yeah, hopefully now with a good
quarterback they can actually move the ball. Kelvin Ridley is
a good slipper in round four.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
Just listen to this podcast and he always asked, really, well,
so I'll be trying to get him Calvin Ridley.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
No, you're right, Tom Jay Spears. Calvin Ridley Compwell, I
think he's still there at the Talian position. Yeah, you know,
I think the Titans might be doing a little something.
I don't I think what I expect for cam Ward.
You know, I'm not expecting him to come out and
be a Cam Newton, right, but if he can be,
if he can be you know, seventy five percent of

(15:54):
that right, and you know, maybe do what C. J.
Stroud did for the Houston Texans a couple of years ago.
Maybe with a stroke of luck, do what.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Jadon Daniels did, j O Daniel.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
Yeah, and then all of a sudden, because who really
in the AFC sol is a threat.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
Let's be real, the jack this is pro. Maybe the Jags.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
All depends on what kind of quarterback play we get
from from Jacksonville.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
But I don't know. It's a wide open It's I
say it's a wide open division.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
I think so, And like, yeah, I would like to
see Anthony Richardson, you know, develop and take the Colts.
I always liked the Colts. I always liked him to
do well, but but I don't know, man like Tennessee
honestly could be sneaky good. Now, they do have a
tough schedule this year, and uh you know, I think
actually my Broncos played in first, so I'll get close

(16:46):
eyes on cam Ward against what are something.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
Wow, that's gonna be uh who, That's gonna be a
tough job against the Denver Broncos for cam Ward's Yeah,
opening day. Hey, now we're gonna see what he really
made of with with with that defense, that's a top
five defense right there.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
So I'm saying top three, but even look.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Top three, I'll even put that too.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
None of that matters until they start playing games and
we start getting some statistics to back it, right. So
I'm again I'm very much looking forward to see not
only that, but seeing the development. I'd love to see
bot vix not vacate clean pockets, right that offensive line
is stout. They protected him well last year, and I
would like to see the intermediate pass game developed. So

(17:35):
Sean Payton, hey you're listening.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
I don't care who it is calling out. And again I.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
Expect a lot. Fan is short for fanatic, and I'm
not gonna just buy in and just be like you
and my team's going you know, let's let's be realistic here,
all right. It's been on a long time since we
saw you know, just last year was the first time
we made the playoffs of ten years, like ten years ago.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
Where were you you know what I mean, Like that's
a lot of yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
So, but I was watching too because for your rams,
Aaron Donald, because you know, he's a workout machine, and
I sent you a video of him and Jared Verse
working out.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Jared Verse can't hang with him. He can't hang with
he said.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
He said he was called.

Speaker 1 (18:16):
He called my mom.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
That's what he told Aaron Donald's wife when he to
see him, like he caught the police.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
Aaron Donald's kidding nothing.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
He's making weights, you know, and it's a mean look,
it's that's what you gotta do. I mean, when you're
a tip top shape, you know. Obviously, we don't want
to see people get hurt. We've already started to see
some injuries come down, you know, for some key players,
and it's it's a war of attrition. Like the healthy
teams typically do the best playoffs. But we're a long

(18:45):
way from the playoffs, right, Like I need people to
get through training camp.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
Let let's get you preseasons first. Even though we're.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Talking about it, like, you know, the starters aren't going
to really play, you really want to see that second
and third preseason game for anything resembling actual NFL football.
But I also like to see the guys trying to
make make the roster. Like people are playing hard out there,
trying to make a name for themselves, right, so you
know we'll we'll see again. It all starts July thirties first,

(19:16):
that's upcoming on Thursday, and you better believe we'll be
here watching, we're reporting on it, and you know, ready
to consume as much football as possible.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
So I just want to play football, But I just
want to.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
Get your predictions Steelers. Aaron Rodgers finally did signed there?
Or was it you know, a little rocky, you know,
a couple of interceptions start, But I don't care about
interceptions and training camp. I think that's a good thing, right,
Steelers well known for their defense. What are your predictions
for Steelers? I mean, Aaron Rodgers might be his last season.

(19:46):
What do you think you think they're getting them over
the hump? Finally snapped that playoff win, drought.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
Oh, that's that's not an easy division to win in
in the beginning, you know, with Baltimore since he and
who else is in the division matter because it's the Browns, Browns, Browns,
that's right.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
Sorry about that Browns sir, Wisconsin. But you don't matter.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
They're not going to be in it, That's all right.
It starts to do or Dylan Gabriel.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
One or the other one of the other.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
It ain't gonna be flat on That's all I know.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
All right, we saw.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
But going back to the Pittsburgh I think that they're
built enough for make a playoff run. They brought Jamn
Ramsey in. Who else they brought in? They got d
k over there, now, Aaron Rodgers over there.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
They're they might they're gonna be there. I think. Battling
for the AFC and Art between Baltimore.

Speaker 3 (20:47):
Yeah, that's the division. They always kind of, you know,
beat up on each other. But I mean, if I'm
still looking at it, I still see that team as
the third best in that division. Right, So Raven's up top,
Bengals right behind him because they paid everybody on offense,
but who do they have on defense?

Speaker 1 (21:05):
You know? I hear the they didn't pay Trey Hendricks. Yeah,
I don't know the lead, the lead in sacks last year,
and he didn't get no love.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
No, I mean, Mike Brown, the owner did say he
deserves it, and they're gonna try to get it because
he posted on his Instagram that he was in Florida
and not in camp. So if you don't have a defense,
you got to at least pay for one man that's.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
Producing, right, Yeah, you gotta get him in there. You
gotta get him into camp.

Speaker 1 (21:29):
And then and then of.

Speaker 3 (21:30):
Course staying in that division. You see, I'm wanna say
JJ watt.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
TJ wattat just got paid, right. He showed me the money,
Show me the money.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
Yeah, he showed me the money, exactly one hundred and
twenty nine million dollars for the next three seasons. And
you know, at least for a season and a half
he's gonna be sitting there on the sideline hurt. So
you know.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
You got the money.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
So I'm not I'm not hating a little bit, just
what you got on that second best behind Baltimore, the
third best.

Speaker 3 (22:02):
Third best. And again I think I'm really hoping, you know,
it is competitive.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
I like this.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
I like to see the Bengals win it September. Like,
let's be real, they get.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
Off the sap, get Tree Hendricks the money.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
Because we saw it.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
And the thing is, Joe Burrow is top tier.

Speaker 3 (22:21):
Some say top three two to the top four, depending
on how you rank Mahomes, Allen Lamark Jackson. But the
man against the Baltimore Ravens in two games had nine
touchdown passes and they lost both games. So on offense, yeah,
it's gonna get shootout. That's cute for take the over when.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
Baltimore and the Yeah, when they play over, I don't
care over.

Speaker 3 (22:46):
Five points combined, take the over, Okay, But I'm just saying, well,
you can't stop anybody you put.

Speaker 1 (22:53):
The pressure on, you know, so your quarterback and your offense.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Cincinnati can just get off to a good start. Win
let me say two games in September. You ain't gotta
win all four.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
But it was right there.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
They've probably lost a lot of close games, them them
blowouts last year.

Speaker 1 (23:10):
Yeah, like they lost to Baltimore. I think it was
like about six points or something like that. But that's
the thing.

Speaker 2 (23:17):
But you gotta ready stopped the offense for when you know, yeah,
you'll put up all that points, but you cannot defense
of the other team.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
Yeah, I see what I see where you get or not?

Speaker 3 (23:28):
Well here I'm looking at it now. Their first game
of the regular season is against the Browns.

Speaker 1 (23:33):
Okay, you gotta be one to know. You have to.
You have to because that's the one that much talent
in that offense. They got to you have to.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
I mean unless Miles Garrett goes off and has eight
sacks and two strips and two of them go back
for touchdowns, and you have to. And then week two
against the Jags. We just talked about the Jags. We're
not expecting much proven season for Trevor Lawrence. Yes, we'll
see Week three, maybe a little tough JJ McCarthy comes
to town.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
Uh so another that's going to be a good one.

Speaker 3 (24:06):
I'm excited to see his development. I mean, justin Jefferson
is speaking high praise for him.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
Yeah, a lot of is talking like high praise, yes, sir.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
And in Week four against the Broncos, which that was
a shootout last year, we'll see how Bone Niggs is playing,
you know, getting getting his sophomore legs in there. But
ideally you can win three out of four of those games.
Nobody's asking for four and oh. But yeah, he absolutely
should be able to come out of the gate and
at least be two and out.

Speaker 1 (24:34):
Oh that's kind of yeah, at least at least yeah.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
And I'm not one of those that gets all giddy
about a schedule release because again, injuries play a part,
you know, and and we'll see, and of course I'm
not gonna live. We don't want to see that. I
want to see minimal injuries. I want everybody to be healthy,
be healthy. Yeah, you know, a legitimate champion. But we
will see, we will see. Let's let's transition to the MLV.

(25:03):
Take me out to the ball games, take me out
to the Crown before we take a commercial break. I
don't know if you tune into the All Star Game
or Home.

Speaker 1 (25:15):
Run Derby, but I was into it, man.

Speaker 3 (25:19):
I mean Kyle Ryland. We talked about him, the big dumper,
Ciel Mayor catcher having a historic season for the poor catcher.
Uh and he was this year's Home Runs Derby champion.
Controversial because you know, he advanced to the final round
by they said, what one inch like he That's when
analytic gets a little crazy, you know, sometimes, you know,

(25:41):
it's manufacturing. We get it, understand, you know mentioner's call.
We want the guy slacking home.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
Runs to win.

Speaker 3 (25:50):
But I thought it was exciting, you know, Neil Cruz
just it's an amazing to see a human that big
just just smacking that ball out. Jazz Chisholm. Yeah, very
disappointing showing. I mean I only had three home runs.
You could see the frustration. But happy they participated anyway.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
But yeah, I liked it.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
And then the All Star game star studied absolutely.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
Upton, Donalds and l Is winning. Then all of a
sudden it all catched up. Yeah it's a tight game,
and now we're doing the first ever soon away like
a mini home run to win the game.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
That was crazy with the big names involved too.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
So yeah, man, I honestly Baseball Atlanta shout out to
the at L you know where I was born, my hometown.
I don't know much about it, but you know, Ludacris
was there, you know Clark, you know everybody just you know,
the bands out there got great reviews, you know, showed
up and showed up.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
Stuckers there. Oh yeah, yeah it was a big show
and that's the way.

Speaker 3 (26:53):
It should be, right to one America's past time in baseball.
You know, we need baseball to be exciting right for us.
You know, it's a long season.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
What is it? What is it that? Yeah? So much?
Was that sixty? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (27:12):
Some we'll find out after the commercial break to get
that in here. But but I mean, I'm stoked. I
absolutely love what I'm seeing here. You know, shout out
to Justin Berlander. Giants pitcher, who's you know, Decrepit might
be older than Joe Flakoh, I gotta check that sixty
three career wins. You know, Raphael Dever's doing work. Yeah,

(27:34):
the Giants. I mean, I'm I'm excited, man, I mean,
how you how you feeling about your Dodgars?

Speaker 1 (27:39):
Man? Oh man, we've been living street that we lost,
lost seventh straight, then we got a win. Oh man,
it was brutal. You better get your stuff together. Man.
We making a play out front bro.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
Seventh straight with that talent. And the problem is you're
pitching too. I thought that was I thought that was
locked up. I thought that was solidified.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
Yeah, slowly they're getting your gloss back, and well what
else is he came back to Yamamoto or h.

Speaker 1 (28:14):
Oh Zuki. I think it was.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
As long as it's not Epe the interpreter for show
hand time, you know what I'm saying. I can only
imagine the conversation with Jay Roberts coming in, Hey, show, Hey,
we're paying you a lot of money. You think you
can give us more than two innings on the mound.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
At least, because we're really don't need you.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
You know.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
Yeah, I look, but he's been slumping, Wookie's been slumping.

Speaker 3 (28:44):
Bookie and Bookie don't even look right in the in
the outfield, you know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (28:49):
Why you're bringing up all stuff?

Speaker 3 (28:50):
I don't want to, you know, speculate if it's something
to do with his health.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
But again, it's a long season, and anytime you line
up with there where you're really struggling is you're seven
eight to nine, right, I mean yeah, it's like, I mean,
can we can we set show? Hey up? I mean
he's lead off. Yeah, but his RB they're down.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
Right, they're they're they're down down.

Speaker 3 (29:15):
And you know, the analytics, you get all the numbers,
sometimes more numbers than you want. But I don't I
don't know, man, I'm just just look, it's hard to
repeat because you know, champions don't repeat in the Major League.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
And that that's the reason it's hard. It's hard. That's
why I didn't have that much. That's why it's so
rare repeating in it because it's so much games, and
and it's tired. It's it's a thick too on you.
One hundred eighty games.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
I'm looking. Let's let me take a look here. I
just gotta see. Okay, Dodger's got the Red Sox tomorrow. Okay, schedule,
schedule gets rough because you got the Reds after.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
That right after that. Yeah, oh man, it ain't gonna
be pretty because.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
Well we get the Rockies, but we get that San
Diego thing, back to the back to the red then
back again with the Diamondbacks.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
It's gonna be a interesting haul.

Speaker 3 (30:21):
And I'm looking at the you know, we talk about
that seven game losing streak. It's like they're in every
one of these games. I mean, let's go next, Dodgers,
Brewers to zero, Dodgers Brewers eight seven, All right, Brewers again,
six to five, Like, okay, they beat the Twins by
to two, but then the Tens the Twins quin game

(30:44):
you lose by one. You win by three, and then
again you lose by two. They're in every one of
these games. So yeah, it's it's clutch time hitting, you know,
it's it's pictures being able to give you your your
starters right being.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
Able to but it's give him good fight innings at
least something.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
And it's just a rarity because you know, you used
to seeing guys in the eighties and nineties. He give you,
you knew they were gonna be on the mound for.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
Seven the whole day. They're gonna be up there all day.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
Yes, And so I mean for me and I understand,
there's more specialists nowadays. You've got different guys doing different things.
You don't want better seeing a guy three times because
the numbers say they're getting familiar.

Speaker 1 (31:29):
But yeah, you know, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (31:31):
It kind of takes away from the fan aspect of
seeing like a complete game, a perfect.

Speaker 1 (31:38):
Yeah, you know, it's just hardays. So I don't know.

Speaker 3 (31:44):
But uh, let's uh, let's take a quick commercial break
when we come back, let's talk a little NBA. I'm
gonna give a Venus Williams a shout out and uh
well and we'll conclude.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
Uh this brother Noel.

Speaker 3 (31:56):
Matt Parker here big on a sports talk show. We'll
be right back. I don't carry if I never go back.
So each root root fun.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
Gee.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
They don't win in shame.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
Oh lord, and it's one two strikes your out at
the fie. This is dumb.

Speaker 3 (32:28):
Are you tired of door to door solicitors come and
bothering you every single time you're trying to watch the game.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
You better get your stuff together.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
Hey, yo, man, I told you I don't care about
no free estimate.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
Get out of here.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
I like the balls on this guy, but don't take
it from me. Listen to these satisfied customer reviews. Yeah, man,
I had somebody trying to come and tell me that
my windows are old and that I need a free estimate.
I told them, get out of here. And then before
my blood pressure got too high. I remember I ordered
solicit Us not, and solicit Us Not came and handled
the business. Doubt I'll ever see that pushy salesmen around

(33:22):
these parts again. Solicit Us not really safe today.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
I was getting pestered on the daily. I was tired
of it.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
They came and took care of business.

Speaker 1 (33:33):
Thank you, solicit Us not old man George rolling up
and there in his wheelchair.

Speaker 3 (33:39):
You know, I was tired of people coming, and solicit

Speaker 3 (34:18):
Back Begon a sports talk show Brother No Matt Parker here,
episode thirty nine, Yeah, thirty ninety eight, and we're coming
up there.

Speaker 1 (34:26):
That's all I know.

Speaker 3 (34:27):
Man, Hey, it's twenty twenty five and Venus Williams won
a tennis match, like the Venus Williams right older sister
to arguably this player ever Serena got it done this
past week. I would open Twitter and saw that.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
I was like wow, like wow, you.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
Know it's and it's I mean, it's amazing because you know,
tennis a lot of change of direction, a lot of injuries.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
She has a lot of movement, a lot of Yeah,
that's a hard game.

Speaker 3 (34:56):
You ever pick up a tennis racket and try to
hit the balls out there?

Speaker 1 (35:00):
Always go over the fence, and you know they only
get me three or four in that little pack too.
Had all that I've been swinging like it was the
home run derby.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
Yeah, that's it.

Speaker 1 (35:10):
Just there you go.

Speaker 3 (35:11):
I mean, I think that thing will sail. But you're right,
it ain't much fun when you got to go chase
the ball down all right there.

Speaker 1 (35:17):
It's a technique and the way you move your hands
and it's crazy.

Speaker 3 (35:21):
Gott Yeah, you got to get the grunts in there.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
The timing right, So yeah, just.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
Shout out to benis Wayne's doing her thing. I liked
her joke about it. She's oh, she got came back
because I spent all his time in the doctors. But
I'm like, man, if a professional athlete in this country
is complaining about spending all the time a doctor and
how expensive it is, you know, the rest of us
is hurting, you know, But uh no, I just don't
give a shout out Jamal Adams local shout out the

(35:47):
Jamal Adams. You know, spent a lot of time in
his career in Seattle Seahawks with Pete Carroll. He's gonna
reunite with him.

Speaker 1 (35:55):
Here res.

Speaker 3 (36:00):
Raiders. That's all the signing. What did I think about it?
I'm like, all right, I thought the man Ben washed.
I thought what he should do is come down into
the box, like you know what I mean, like a
Ryan Clark.

Speaker 1 (36:14):
You know, just just be there, maybe a little like
a Steve Atwater kind Yeah.

Speaker 3 (36:18):
Exactly, you know what I mean, Like, you know, he's
coming on the blitz because the last thing I want
is you know, it's old and slow in the secondary.
But again, Raider's gonna Raider, you know. So I'm that's
the way I chalk it up. And they've been beating
up on my Broncos. But that's that's at least one
more win for the Broncos. If we can develop any
sort of downfield, you know, Marvin Vim's going deep, get

(36:41):
a good matchup. So but yeah, I want to transition
to the NBA. We had some movement. We have some
old players speaking of old reuniting with some old teams,
and that's want your thoughts on it. First off, Chris
Paul signing with the Clippers for season twenty one.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
What do you think old man George rolling up and
there in his wheelchair, going back back to Kelly. I
think those those missing that leadership last year. So I
think it's a good shot to signing.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
Yeah, he got a great coach. Obviously, Quips had some
success last year. You see the importance and having a
point guard. My Phoenix Suns absolutely.

Speaker 1 (37:20):
Did miss him.

Speaker 3 (37:22):
I'm hoping that he's got something in the tank. He
did well with the Spurs. You're not asking him to
lead your team. You're not asking him to run out
there forty minutes up, you know, like just smart basketball
limit the turn. Yeah, take the ball out of James
Hard and hand set Kawhi Leonard up at the elbow
where he likes to be. You know, they freed up
some room they got rid of Norman Powell said the

(37:45):
Norman Powell.

Speaker 1 (37:46):
I don't know, I don't mind.

Speaker 3 (37:47):
I'm thinking maybe a different power. Well regardless, I'm hoping,
you know, Para Luke, can you know, get that squad
where it needs to be. In my lifetime, I would
love to see Hi fiftlish championship and I mean, okay, special.

Speaker 1 (38:00):
One last year, So okay, see either get that okay,
see yeah, but.

Speaker 3 (38:06):
No, I'm excited. I'm excited. Another name that's coming old
space in a familiar place, if you will, is Dame Liward.
Now we know that he's coming off with the Achilles,
but what did you think about him returning to Portland.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
I think that's the only place that he that that
that he tries you all young, younger guys over there
didn't need a leader that entered and Johnnis wasn't.

Speaker 1 (38:31):
Doing was it mixing over there? It was a I
thought they'll be better with the addition of Yellen, but
it seems like it did. It wasn't he just didn't
play well with each other.

Speaker 3 (38:42):
And I don't know drust factor, if it was just timing,
but we had enough of a sample size to see that, yeah,
it just wasn't working. So you know, I'm excited.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
I know Dame again.

Speaker 3 (38:53):
It was more so in the leadership role off the
court as he does his rehab, which he should take
his time, right, we absolutely one of the take his time.
But I thought that was a really nice thing for Portland,
you know, if nothing else for nostalgia reasons. It's not
often that you see players come back and sign a
one day contract with the team that you know they

(39:13):
got famous with or had they're starting with. But you know,
I'm excited just to see if him finishing his career,
and I.

Speaker 1 (39:23):
Think we're going to see a better version of him
than last year. I mean, I hope.

Speaker 3 (39:27):
So I mean again, like we don't know when he's
coming back. If they make the playoffs, maybe he has.
But you know, the Achilles that's.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
No joke, right, That's no joke at all.

Speaker 3 (39:37):
Like to see him pulling up from thirty five feet.
But with the medicine nowadays, some guys they really do
come back, right, So.

Speaker 1 (39:44):
Some guys heal different. You know, no, they do. Well.

Speaker 3 (39:48):
I want to got to him to talk about NBA,
your Nakers. They got a couple off season additions. I
will say, you know, with Marcus Smart.

Speaker 1 (39:58):
I thought that was smart signing. I thought that was
smart signing. He got bought out.

Speaker 3 (40:05):
I think he was what the Pistons got bought out
or the Wizards.

Speaker 1 (40:08):
The Wizards, and I mean, you're getting a good three and.

Speaker 3 (40:12):
D guy, obviously, championship pedigree, a guy that elevates in
the playoffs, assuming you guys make it. But we'll see,
we'll see Marcus Smart a great pickup.

Speaker 1 (40:23):
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (40:24):
Yeah, a great pickup, live off the pressure off for
Luke up, bringing the ball down, setting up, setting up
this this team up.

Speaker 1 (40:34):
I think that was a good addition.

Speaker 3 (40:36):
Well what about DeAndre Aid.

Speaker 1 (40:40):
Role player?

Speaker 3 (40:41):
H Well, look, you know he was the Phoenix Suns,
was on that two thousand and one finals team. And
I can tell you this, I mean, looking at his
career statistics, he's a double double guy, right, But you
know stats can be misleading, and it wasn't the statistics
on paper, you know, final score, it was the effort

(41:02):
That's what really frustrated A lot of people, right, and
I mean yeah, asked the Portland Trailblazer fans.

Speaker 1 (41:07):
They saw it.

Speaker 3 (41:08):
I mean the guy he's sitting there watching, you know,
tip after tip, and it's like this guy's seven feet
tall and he's not gonna.

Speaker 1 (41:14):
Go get it.

Speaker 3 (41:14):
But you know, we'll see guys are allowed to mature.
He said, he's excited to play with Luca and there'll
be like a video game in his words. But I'm
just saying, mentally, prepare yourself for some headaches, some frustration, stress.
But the world's stressful place in La of course, there's
no exception, so you're unfortunately, I'm sure you're.

Speaker 1 (41:36):
Already used to it.

Speaker 3 (41:37):
But but this might be Lebron James last year wearing
the purple and gold or I mean, what do you
what do you think.

Speaker 1 (41:43):
Bench warming for Bronni I'm not a big Lebron fan.
But be a good thing. Yeah, it could be a
good thing, might be a bad thing.

Speaker 2 (41:56):
It's only Lebron to to show if are we gonna
get the digressive Lebron like before, or we're gonna pass
it off in the fourth quarter and try to get
somebody to take that crucial shot that was week Lebron, Well,
we know.

Speaker 3 (42:12):
Who has somebody's gonna see and that is want to
Luka Donches, right, Yeah, the franchise building around him. They
didn't even let Lebron know the you know, the plans
and the Lakers were being sold for ten billion dollars, right,
and so you know, there was a little speculation last
week about four teams calling, you know, of interest for Lebron,
and one being the Mavericks. Ironically, so he have reunite

(42:35):
him with Kyrie and Anthony Davis and Davis Clippers were interested,
and you know, I guess it just kind of depends
on what people give up, because you're not giving up
Cooper flag right, number one overall pick, who had some flare,
some highlights in the preseason, but they shut him down.

Speaker 1 (42:52):
Obviously, Kyrie is rehaving.

Speaker 3 (42:53):
He says in his own words, he's gonna take his time.
And Anthony Davis always damaged their street clubs.

Speaker 1 (43:00):
You want to call him, just put ice on him
and just put him on the side into tip off.

Speaker 3 (43:04):
Stick him in the side of the freezer, and then
check on him.

Speaker 1 (43:06):
Again to check out him on tip off opening night.
I don't want him to get hurt. Look he's gonna
trip on something he can get hurt.

Speaker 3 (43:17):
Well, I want to see of course, Like we got
to appreciate Lebron and his greatness. Wow, we can't like
the man be forty one think in December and let's
let's just enjoy greatness while we can. Like you know
how I feel some type Lebron can be.

Speaker 1 (43:31):
A little bit much.

Speaker 3 (43:32):
But like that that error, that age, you know, hardened
Kawhi Hurry, Russell Westbrook.

Speaker 1 (43:40):
They ain't getting any younger.

Speaker 3 (43:42):
That's it, Chris Paul again, like that whole era, a
whole air is coming to a close. So I'm like,
let's just enjoy it while we can, right, yeah damn so,
I mean we'll see. You think they're getting out of
the first round?

Speaker 1 (43:57):
Please the matchup, I hope.

Speaker 3 (44:04):
Honestly, Look, you guys got your Bubble Championship. It's all
good from there. No, I mean, I'm I'm excited again.
I definitely think it'll be better than my sons.

Speaker 2 (44:16):
The West is tough, man, The West is gonna be
tough again. They called it last year. Springs is gonna
be better than what there was last year. Uh yeah, okay,
Ce still yet over there, don't forget about Denver there
their team to be messing with.

Speaker 1 (44:30):
You know, Denver is nothing.

Speaker 3 (44:32):
They got way better. They finally got a bench. Bruce
Brown came back. You got Cam Johnson who's at.

Speaker 1 (44:37):
Three points, ye specialist.

Speaker 3 (44:39):
Yeah, you know, I don't know if Valentiuna is actually
signed because he was talking about going back home to
Europe to go play with that team. But you've got
obviously one of the best centers you know in the
game of k and then backup center. Finally, if they
could just hold water while he's on the bench, you know,
I mean, okay.

Speaker 1 (44:57):
See, you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (44:59):
So you know, we'll see, we'll see. I'm excited about
him right there, but I mean we're a long way
away from that. But you're right, okay, see signed up,
they're big three. Check Holmger got his money, James Williams
got his money. And of course the m v P
Finals MVP Sha Alexander they you know, got his money.
So good for them for locking up their core. I mean,

(45:19):
you might lose guys like lou Dort and you know Caruso,
you know, key guys.

Speaker 1 (45:23):
But Crucio Crusoe was very crucial last year for them.

Speaker 3 (45:28):
I mean calling the Joker killer, right, I mean he
locked down Yo kichin that seven games, so we'll see.

Speaker 1 (45:34):
He'll play him like another one year contract.

Speaker 3 (45:37):
I'm paying the man involved, saying, right, two time champion,
you're right, does the dirty work so that your star players.

Speaker 1 (45:43):
Don't have to You got right, So show me the money.

Speaker 3 (45:47):
Well, look, man, it's been a great episode. Just want
to wrap up with this. This one's kind of you know,
old news too. But you know, Shannon Sharp, somebody I
really appreciate.

Speaker 1 (45:55):
You know, follow you know in Hall of Famer, definitely
Hall of.

Speaker 3 (45:59):
Fame, Broncos, tight End Ravens, you know. But just saying,
according to the attorney Tony Busby, both sides reached a
mutual resolution and now agree the relationship was consensual and tumultuous.
So I don't know, I heard some of those audio tapes.
We're not playing any of it here.

Speaker 1 (46:15):
I'm just saying, somebody got paid. Show me the money.

Speaker 3 (46:19):
Jane Doe got paid.

Speaker 1 (46:20):
That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (46:23):
Nest and all this, and why is he involved with this?

Speaker 1 (46:26):
But like the show me the money. My goodness, bro,
I'm like with me.

Speaker 3 (46:31):
Look, there's good money and they're dirty money. But it's
all spins just the same.

Speaker 1 (46:35):
That's all I'm spins all the same.

Speaker 3 (46:37):
All I want to see is the man back talking
sports because I like what he brings.

Speaker 1 (46:40):
To the table. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (46:42):
He's honest, man, he's shoot well, he tell you how
it is. Yeah, there's no cutting corners with him.

Speaker 3 (46:47):
Make you just want to slide in somebody d MS
and see what kind of paid pay the right.
