Speaker 1 (00:00):
What I hear you ask, does Emma do? What possibly
could that company be offering people? Well, we'll find out
a little bit later on when Emma joins us, and
any questions you've got about learning Portuguese, another angle on
the language and.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
A special offer daily.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
Deal from a Bondie daily deal from Emma as well
this morning, So looking forward to meeting her, having a chat.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
And learning more Portuguese.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
Les make it practical this morning, folks, Please let me
know any questions you might have or put them to Emma.
And I think you have to keep going. You have
to make an effort. And it's also important to be
easy on yourself in terms of mainly finding the right approach,
the right learning.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Style for you. What have you found so far? What
are you missing?
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Let's talk to Emma about that at around eight twenty
this morning. If you were here right from the get go,
you'll have seen as Jackie was. Jackie was here before.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
The get go.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
This comment came up last night. Thank you Jackie when
you saw Emma was joining us. This will be well
worth watching.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Thanks Carl.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
This will be a huge help to anyone learning, no
matter what stage you're at. Its true coach Turner in
as well and Anesto a video from azuel Aesto and
a heat wave in the UK scorching eight degrees longish
walk for a coffee is on the cards. Enjoy your
hump day whatever you're doing. Absolutely cheers coach, thank you
very much. Yeah, well being then what you got? What
(01:18):
you got for the seasonal cold? Chicken soup dve days
And just as I'm suggesting, a good a good cure
or approach to having a seasonal cold is to take
it easy. See you at the storytellers for a drink
at lunchtime. I'm not going for the whole lunch, but
I'll be there for a drink. Looking forward to seeing
companies who are coming, some from all over the country
(01:40):
to be at the storyteller's lunch. Oh and lovely. Since
I've talked more about the event on the fifteenth, more
confirmations coming in. People are coming from all over the world,
it would appear, and not certainly all over Portugal to
be with us on the fifteenth for that party. We're
going to need a bigger venue maybe, I don't know.
Very exciting, gabbe good it a year, see you later
on right. First bit of news. And if you hear
(02:01):
from the get go, you'd have seen enough.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Called it rentals mental mate.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
And this is the Portugal news item twenty one people interested.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
You've got twenty one people to go.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Twenty one people interested in every rental property apparently on average.
Let's bring it onto the screen and take a look,
shall we. And this nice Nigerian gentleman who seems to
be adorning the screen as well, Hello, nice to see
you here this morning, and twenty one people interested in
every rental property. Demand for rental properties in Portugal remains
high despite increasing prices. I think they go together, don't they.
(02:37):
The high demand drives the prices, and people still need
somewhere to live. It's not like you can say, do
you know what, it's too expensive. I'm not going to
bother to live anywhere, Okay. At the end of twenty
twenty four, advertised homes for rent received on average twenty
one contact. Now I've heard of many more, and you
know you might be lucky you might meet the person
(02:59):
this is. It's lovely when this happens, isn't it When
you meet someone who says, yeah, I've got a rental
or I'm moving out of my place, you want to
speak to the landlord. It's all done and dusted very simply.
And I've been lucky enough to experience quite a lot
of that since being here in Portugal. But in the
traditional market and the ways, the traditional way of getting
a rental property, it's twenty one people on average. Just
(03:20):
find out to how they came to this figure, shall
we and see if they ask more than ten people.
At the end of twenty twenty four, advertised homes to
rent received on average twenty one contexts before leaving the market,
reveals data analysis carried out by Idealista. Idealista however, however,
there's a big however coming in here. Compared to the
same period in twenty three twenty twenty three, the number
(03:42):
of contacts per ad decreased ooh by thirty by third
at the time, they receive thirty two contacts on average,
which may be related to the increase in the supply
of houses in the Portuguese rental market. Okay, these numbers
reveal that the pressure of contacts and it gets to
the point in this article where we're told some of
(04:04):
the higher averages are is that right, is a mathematical
tortology Anyway, where do you think the greatest demand? What
towns do you think might be seeing the greater demand
at the moment you might guess Lisbon. No, I'm going
to tell you that where the most expressions of interest
were by the end of twenty twenty four as well
from this article, thank you Portugal News and it's written
(04:25):
by oh by the Portugal News. No byline on this
one and no comments, no angry comments yet. Anyway, it's
only been up a few hours.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
Of this decrease.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Reuben marsh from a Delista said, these numbers reveal that
the pressure of contacts for advertisements of houses for rent
remains high, despite having decreased in the fourth quarter of
the year. This decrease does not indicate that there are
fewer families looking for a house to rent, but rather
that there are more properties available on the market, especially
(04:57):
since the supply of properties on the rental market increased
by fifty nine percent wow in twenty twenty four. Now,
you might think with such a big increase that might
bring prices down a little bit, but no, apparently not. However,
prices remain high and out of reach for the majority
of Portuguese people. He concludes sadly, I would add, and
(05:18):
those places where they are experiencing more interested in the
average that the average of thirty seven contacts for each
houses in Santa Portalegre thirty five and Stubal thirty two,
the ever popular or increasingly popular STUBL thirty two below
average Braganza. If you want to go to places with
below average demand which might increase your personal chances of
(05:42):
finding somewhere to rent, Braganza, Laria, Ponto del Gada. In
outside of the mainland, Guarda Faru, Villari Albajia, Coimbra and
Coshe Dee la Branco with an average of less than
twenty contacts advertisement for houses to rent.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
There are the cities of Lisbon.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
There go Lisbon not so high more inventory and demand. Ever,
that's if you can take the amount of interest as
a particularly meaningful metric. I suppose, Evera Braga, Fundshal Vizio
and Aveado the cities that received the fewest contacts on average,
where you might be blessed with more availability than the norm.
(06:22):
Porto and Viagra de Costello. However, it should be noted
that the low number of contacts per house for rent
may be related to the greatest supply in these markets. Okay,
so you might get more supply, but not cheaper rentals.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
We shall see.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
I think you need quite long timespans, don't you to
judge what's really going on? And if you'd like to
make a comment about that, do so in our chat.
And if you want to make a comment about that
over at the Portugal News, you can do that on listening.
Wanting to you, Pam, see you in a little while.
Thanks very much to you Pam for introducing us to Emma.
And we'll see her in about ten minutes time here
(07:00):
as well. And yes, I'll bring my guard Schuva. I'll
bring my my quirky brolly from Calds. Shall I and
frighten the horses on the wave bondi Portugal from and
let's have a look at that weather then? Shall we
talk of eight degrees in the UK? Sent a beautiful video.
I've got some video, oh on a few pickies this morning,
some weather related video first of all. Then and then
(07:22):
we'll take a look at the Good morning Portugal.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
Spardan e Veggs.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
We're the great fun talking to Sarah yesterday and getting
her counsel on what's going on in the currency at
the moment, and then massaging our ears as you do
obviously after talking about currency, you give your ears a
massage from Marion Guerre Yes, Sody, thanks Marion for doing
that for us. So this video from John then I
(07:48):
think this is up there on the northern coast. Is
it still called the Green Coast up there? I don't
hear that that description so often, but certainly up beyond
I think Porto there is they call it the Green
coastally got Silver Coast, got the Gold Coasters in Australia,
(08:08):
the Silver Coast and the Green Coast up there north
not so much spoken about. But here's some footage possibly
from it, but certainly up north, some blustery weather depression
eva I think still making his presence felt.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
A hold on it. That's my my clip his Johns.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
You're a trapid a reporter reporting from the features of
crowds north of the there wire reports of seven eight
meters waves. This came to the case, so they're breaking
(08:53):
way out there.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
Could be.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
M hmmm, intrepid weather reporters. Rather Thanks John, that's great
and here's my effort. Not so much And what was
that we are there with your brolly and you were fake?
Was that sort of spumy snow? See snow coming in
off the water?
Speaker 2 (09:16):
Was that sleep? What was that?
Speaker 1 (09:18):
There was dry when I went up to Gralla inspired
by you, this intrepid reporting. Yes, from Pride to Gralia
and Samaria reporter's other beach.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
That's sorry there over there.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
S Yeah, some serious white water there quite amazing. I
think we might have a few people in from Emma's
community for our Portuguese language special this morning. Good morning
to you if you've not been here before on the
Good Morning Portugal Show. This is the Bondia Daily part
where we do a bit of news and whether language,
(10:16):
of course, will be giving over to the next to
forty minutes after about twenty past with Emma to learn
more about the language. And for anyone who said I
really must learn more Portuguese this year, this is it.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
This is your moment. Get those questions, you know.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Those question I really must ask about this, I already
must ask about that. So if you can attrol those
questions from the back of your mind and share them
with us this morning and Emma and Pam. Pam will
be talking about her personal experience and Pam is such
an inspiration because she really has taken learning Portuguese very
(10:50):
seriously and can converse very well with native people and
is a volunteer of course in a project in Alcabasa.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
I think you have to have every.
Speaker 1 (11:01):
Day Portuguese nailed and that you know. I think it's
a virtuous cycle, isn't it. You learn more Portuguese, you
expose yourself to a situation where you need it. That
gives you more on the ground tactical experience and vocabulary.
And she's done an amazing job. She stands head and
shoulders above us all, I think with her efforts. So
she is worth listening to about how she got to
that place with her grasp of the Portuguese language, as
(11:25):
has mister S. Mister S notable as well in enthusiasm
and application learning the language.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
So well done, mister S. That's a week of buying
for you.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
Yeah you go, you get one of those, Pam, You
get one of those, mister S and John saying yes,
that was prior to Careso where I was. It was
the rocky bit just one hundred meters south and it
turns into quite a nice speech. So they go another
one for the list, they're of nice beaches in Portugal
was spoiled for those, of course, pray up to Caesa
north of Vienna. I believe Mike, maybe see you later
on these story tell us I'll be poffing pop in
(12:00):
for a.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
Swift one a little bit later on.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
Yes, Gabby and hopefully arriving without getting soaked. Yeah, if
you're new to the show, please say hello. Let's have
a look at the weather with you. Now, that's what
we do every morning before we talk to our guests.
At eight twenty and eight forty, I'm going to go
to our weather pages and thanks for all the interest
actually in the Valentine's weekend. It's really great that how
(12:23):
people are responding to that. It's going to be the
first of many, I hope, right, So let's look at
that weather then and see what's going on. What I'm
actually doing is looking for when there'll be an end
to this rain and some sunny weather. Now, that was
looking like it was going to be the end of
the week. However, as I look at the screen, now,
yes it's been moved. Oh no, that was in Lisbon
(12:47):
a bit slightly sunny of the weekend. Saturday, temperature of
fifteen and Porto Saturday is sunny, queenb So that sunny
weather is on its way, but then a more rain
and cloudiness taking us into February. Yes, nearly February, folks,
and we've got a sunny day planned in Farrow. I
(13:10):
want to say, we weather, the weather people have fourteen
degrees tomorrow and sunny and in Furrow at the moment
fifteen degrees.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
It's mild, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
It's remaining mild, But it's that dampness when it when
the temperature drops to you know, around ten and below
and the humidity is so that's a special kind of
cold that no one told me about. That I couldn't
really have prepared myself for anyway, But I do not
like it very much standing in front of a electric
(13:40):
hot electric heater in those sorts of conditions.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Yes, there's damp cold. It's not nice.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
But sunny is on its way, folks, even if only
for a day or two. Across the country. Oh, Bragansas
looking nice, basual, Okay, sunny sunny from tomorrow. If you
want to get some sun, if you're prepared to get
in the car or jump on a bus or a
train and get some sun tomorrow. You can do that
and Bragan, Sabajia, kashiell Le Branco Eva as well Portal
gre Yes. So it's going to be a sunny day
(14:08):
for some tomorrow around Portugal, a sort.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
Of seventeen degrees.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
The high today still rainy though and in my data
a high of fourteen currently three with a few clouds
and a little bit of sunshine peeking out from behind
the clouds as well.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
So there's your weather.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
They're weather stations available on that link as well. I'll
pop that link weather stations on the Silver Coast. Thanks
Phil and in Central and Barrack. Thank you very much
for your correspondence as well. It's been great chatting to you.
I'm trying to find out more about what people want
from our community here, how they are enjoying the Portugal
Club or not. When you support the show, you become
(14:45):
a member of the Portugal Club. I might have time
to talk a little bit about that.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
In just a moment. JMC is here. I love that greeting.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Thanks for being on the munths in and the Geezer show,
which was great last night. I thought, gumpach oh, hold
on a minute, what's.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
Going on here?
Speaker 1 (15:00):
I was at Nazaday and at Saint Martino yesterday, very different.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
Yes, what to each other? And what's this?
Speaker 1 (15:10):
Do you want to learn about the how to use
cazo a caazo and portakazo sufash what a baja? Thank
you very much. I've start that up or Realdly, that's
really go thanks mister s Gunpa challenge project. Since Portugal
is mostly coastline, we should have a show your waves
local challenge.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
Go to your coastline and show us what your waves
are like. Well, me and you have done that.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
Anyone else want to take part in that? Nine one
three five nine zero three zero three wild weather in
Vizio today?
Speaker 2 (15:36):
For the kin you're doing?
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Hugh and Jane up there, Bondia Raasada.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
Thanks jmc good to see you.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
We have that cold for four months and you go,
I don't like it either, but is it the wet cold.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
There's a difficult See, I wasn't expecting it to be
cold in Portugal.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
Forgive me for being so silly, and then when it
is cold some days you just don't feel like you
can get warm.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
Now there are tactics for that in the UK. Are
They're like central eating.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
And you know how it comes around each year and
you can prepare for it a little bit.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
There's a there's a bone.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
I was gonna call it a bone probing coldness here
in Portugal on some days that's really I mean, you
need your thermals on basically, Jerry the expats Portugal a
therm will underwear. When's that coming out, BONDI from mister
s is that to GMC and Raji Klian is here? Hello,
good morning to you Bondia and so much better now
(16:32):
you better Now you won't be tracked and safer than
using chat GPTs.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
You can download it and no one is.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
Monitoring ha ha, very finely, Pete, that's a good one.
No one will be monitoring you. Awesome that deep seekers
revolutionized the industry and wiped half are trilling off the
big tech masters. Cheerful news from Peter this morning. Right,
hold on a minute, What else did I want to
show you? I think I might have to come back
to the Portugal Club changes. Maybe we'll make that the
news for tomorrow. I do have some lovely pickies to
(16:57):
show you as we're waiting for Emma to join us
this morning, let's just check what'sapp make sure everything is
is going okay for Emma. I think it is. I'm
guessing it is. It's just like a zoom call.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
Everybody.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Let's reassure Emma that it's nice and easy joining us
on the screen. Here a few pictures to show you.
Have I got some more video? I think I've shown
you all my video this one, yes, I do. I
wanted to show you some nice stills as well, actually
that have been lurking about. Here's here's what I like
to do as well. There's that thing, isn't there of
feed a cold and starve a fever. So I don't
(17:34):
need any further encouragement when I think I've got a
cold to eat more and lovely yesterday to make a
pan fried filet of Dorada with some wilted lettuce and
some good old you know, those really hard red Portuguese
potatoes with so much flavor.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
Some of them went black. Actually, is that a bad thing?
It doesn't look very nice on the plate. They weren't.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
They weren't blighted or anything when I peeled them, and
then some of them go a bit black them anyway,
But anyway, I've got pan fried direct from a filets
from Murca Donna.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
And what I really like is when.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
The butter crisps up the skin you've given, you put
plenty of salt and pepper on that, and then I've
got the When I take my filet out and plate
it up, I've still got that buttery sauce with a
few capers in salt on FGBP finely ground black pepper.
And I chucked a handful of spinach in and that
wilts and that goes on the top like that.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
That, my friends, was delicious.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
I don't know what missus m was preparing on the
other side of the countertop. We shall see what that
was all about, or maybe we'll never speak of this again.
I'm just sharing a few pictures, as Emma joins us,
isn't this a beautiful little I don't know, it's poetic.
In the kitchen in a draw I found some of
these bag closers, and they were in a bag themselves,
(18:53):
with an old school bag closer a twisty, and I
just thought, that's poetry. That's visual poetry.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
That is right there.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
That just says something about civilization, does it not? And
a certain way about how certain psychologists go about things
in the kitchen and a couple more from the deck.
I love seeing your pictures. Two nine one three five
nine zero three zero three. Talking of missus m we're
having a look at Celia de Porter and the other day,
having a little stroll on the boardwalk, she said, look
at us, take that picture and there we always that
a lovely shot captured there. That's out for a jaunt
(19:23):
of the other day. Very nice Celia de Port in
a sunny twenty minutes there and finally coming back through Oosh.
The other day, you know that great big octagonal church there.
This was the sun just setting later on in the evening.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
Isn't that lovely right there?
Speaker 1 (19:37):
I've not I didn't manage to get in the church
part of the car up, told the family I'm just
gonna go see if it's open. It wasn't, sadly, but
managed to capture that lovely shot there. We are moving
from the Bondia Daily into the Good Morning Portugal Show now,
whereupon we shall welcome our special guest today for an
extended language Jewistion session Q and A with the wonderful Emma.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
Let's give it a night.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
Hold on, she's ring it. No, that's the wrong raw
sound effect. Okay, hold on a minute. She needs a
rapturous round of applause and she's going to get one.
Here we go, Here we go, Applause for Emma, and
let's bring her onto the screen.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
All that car. Thank you for inviting me. Oh it's
so good.
