sixteen oh one thirteen KOs Omar Trinidad. What's going on, Omar?
Speaker 3 (01:48):
What's up?
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Man?
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Thanks for having me, man, Yeah, no doubt.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
So listen, before we get into any boxing type of stuff,
what has life been like for Omar Trinidad outside of
the ring and some of the things that you've been
working on, because obviously, you know your life isn't ninety
nine percent boxing. Obviously there's room there for training out
of person. So just kind of give us a peek
(02:13):
behind the curtain on some of the things you've been
working on a more personal side.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
No, nothing much, man, honestly, it just lay uh my
last fight in January and then after this one, I
just been what I do best, man, just been at
the gym working, uh, picking my picking, my my coach's
brain a little bit, you know, watching fights every weekend,
spending time with family, with friends.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Man, just just enjoying life.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
I out of the gym, but nevertheless, I'm still at
the gym working regardless.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Okay, all right, and listen, speaking of that fight in July.
Right as you're climbing up the ranks and as you're
you know, getting more fights, you know things are going
to get a little more difficult. You know, you picked
up your sixteenth point against Victor Slovenski. I was there.
I saw I was there in person watching the fight.
It appeared to me, at least outside looking in, he
(03:06):
was a little tougher than expected. I saw you headhunt
a little more than uh then breaking down his body.
Was he tougher than expected? And after you watched it back,
did you feel like you were head hunting a little
too much?
Speaker 4 (03:22):
Uh? We knew he was coming strong, man. We knew
he was a solid fighter. I've been knowing him for
a while now too, and we knew he was durable.
It was a it was a it was a tough
guy to break down. And yeah, man, somethimes, yet a
little bit too excited going to the head. But uh,
my thing was I I never really hunted the body
like I always like like go through maybe maybe perround,
(03:43):
maybe like six seven bodies stots, but always very accurate.
But I know I need to pick up on I'm
bringing down my opponents body first and then the head
will fall. But yeah, I did watch it back and
they see that I got to trigger happy with the
head hunting.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Yeah all right. And then this is the third time
you're fighting this year. How has fighting frequently helped you
or affected you? I mean because it could it could
have a negative effect too, depending on who you are,
on your growth as a fighter, and on your personal life.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
Honestly, man, it's been pretty good. I can't complain. Man
like staying active, been working with wonders for me, man,
staying staying relevant, staying in rhythm, no building, no Russ,
staying freshman, staying alert, you know, and it keeps me
in the gym, you know, like kiss me in the gym,
kiss me busy. And you know it hasn't affected me
at all. Man, I feel like it's the I'm learning
(04:37):
how it balance it up.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Okay, good good, And now you are number twelve with
the WBC and number thirteen. With the IBF, you're facing
Hector Sosa seventeen to two and with nine KOs who
he last beat Keenan Carbo Hall. I believe it was
(04:59):
a guy who went rounds with Leo Santa Cruz. What
do you think you have to do on October twenty
six at the Commerce Casino to crack the top ten
on this next fight?
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Well?
Speaker 4 (05:11):
When when this fight, you know, no matter how I
went in, it was a distance and it goes to
a knockout.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
I'm ready for whatever, man.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
And I've been working at the gym and I've been saying,
I've been studying, I've been I've.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Been doing what I gotta do to come out victorious
October twenty.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
Six, And I know I just got to be smart,
patient and coming collective man, and pick my shots right
and just find the opening and take advantage of.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
It all right, and then barring anything crazy for this
next fight, will this be the last one for you
this year? Or or is there a thought in your
mind that you may want to try to go out
one more time before the clock starts hits twelve on
December thirty.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
First, I feel like from what it's looking like, I
think this will be the last part of the year.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
But I mean that they caught me back at getting
right away.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
I mean be open to it, okay, all right? And
then what should fans expect or I should say, what
should fans come away with on October twenty sixth when
they see you fight, whether it's the first time they
see you or whether they've seen you fight before. What
what should they come away with after watching you fight?
Speaker 3 (06:18):
Well?
Speaker 4 (06:18):
First, man, I always appreciate people that show up and
show support, man, and people that seen me for the
first time, They're gonna leave with a treatment that I
always tend to put a show.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
And and I have respect for the people that come inspectate.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
Because I like to give them them money's worth every
time they purchase a ticket.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
And the night they're gonna walk away with like a
new see me with a new rinkle.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
Man, they're gonna see something new that this fight and
and that they haven't seen before. And and other than that, man,
I problemised them a great show, all right.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
And then last three, yeah, no doubt that's And lastly,
what's your twenty twenty five vision look like? What does
how does how does next year look for you? With
guard to your career roadmap and and and where you
want to be when when it's all said and done.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
Uh, from what the plans we have staying active while
you're along again getting top names. But for me, Man, personally,
I already feel that I'm not that far away from
a title shot. You know, I'm not out that fight,
especially after this fight. I will be After I win
this fight, I will be number two ib F. So
whoever has the crown on the ib F Man, I
know Angelolo has it now, but whoever has it at
(07:31):
the moment when I'm ready, Man, I'm ready to face them.
And if if I get the call, be ready, I'll
go to their house or we could have way in
Vegas or where they want it.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
Man, I'm ready.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
And not only ib if any belt A B C,
W B A W B O, Man, I'm ready.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
And and you mentioned Angeliah, but any of the other champions,
which one specifically you think you match well that it
would be a great fight, not only for yourself but
for the fans who you know who would be tuning in.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
Honestly, Man, I think anybody in anybody's the champion, and
even there's other guys under like like what kind of
like well, man, where they're not champions either, and there'll
be great fights. But I mean me, well, those guys
are climbing up the ranges like I am, will meet
down down the road for a belt man to make
to make it make sense. But now as all their
champions are, they have the crown. Now I think anybody, man,
(08:20):
I like honestly Vargas, Brandon, Nick Ball, Espinoza, uh.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
Angelo, Leo. Man, I think all those fights are great.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
I feel like maybe just because I mean, I think
me and I'm gonna will make a great fight.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
I think that style fights clash for sure. Man.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Yeah, yeah, no, that that would be a great fight. Well, listen, Omar,
I appreciate your time. I wish you the best of
luck on the twenty sixth of October at the Commerce
Casino UH in California for those that are looking to go,
or if not, they can catch it on.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
UFC Fight Pass, Fight Pass.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
All right, well, listen, best of luck to you and
we'll talk.
Speaker 3 (09:03):

of Us Shouts show now
