Speaker 3 (01:31):
You can easily find it in the description below. Ye,
how's it going.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
He's good seeing you again, just trying to figure out
how's uh, how's life been for you since March?
Speaker 5 (01:46):
Life's life is good? You know, honestly, I can't complain.
I think the Lord every single day once we wake up.
Family is good, guys are good. I feel healthy, got
my two hands, I can still go to a gym,
I can still run, I still feel But that's every
single day, you know. They you know, yes, we got
we got a couple of money in the bank. And
(02:08):
that people might think that solves all the problems. It doesn't.
Think the Lords is Jesus Christ says everything. Says the
fact that if you look at the other side, you
see some people might be struggling, and you look at
your kids, and you look at you look at life,
you say, yeah, we're good at We're okay. You know,
so I feel good. I feel blessed, to have another
opportunity against and I'm taking advantage of it and going
(02:31):
with everything. I can't complain about life, can't complain. I
feel blessed have this opportunity.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
That's what's up and and you know it's it's funny.
Earlier this year, right, I had spoken to.
Speaker 6 (02:44):
You at the at the Sinisi Yoka Valley press conference, right,
and when we spoke, you didn't feel like you were
thirty three.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
And uh, you know, you incorporate a meditation because when
you hear people sharing, you know, you want to give
them what you know, what they want. I saw more
of a composed fighter in you against Liam Wilson. Did
you feel like some of the things that you incorporated
in your lifestyle kind of all came together that night?
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Yeah? I did. I think.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
I think also the hard work, the way was put.
You know, we work hard for every each and every fight.
But that's that's why every fighter says and of course
because they do. We do fighting, we do give it
our best. But reality, you know, once you start realizing
that this won't be forever, start enjoying everything, every little
single moment, every this right here that we're talking about boxing,
(03:39):
you know, I'm going for a run, eating house to diet,
enjoying a coffee, joining the spying sessions, enjoying every single moment.
You just started enjoying everything, and I enjoy the fight.
You know, you appreciate everything, and I think the life
gives you abundance and the album answer. It's just like
you just start seeing everything better. And I think that's
(04:00):
that's for having that fight. I started starting enjoying the
moment of a fight because you never know every single
time I step in that ring for a fight, it
could be the last fight of your career because it's
the only sport where you go in there you don't
know if you're gonna come back alive because fighters literally
risk their lives inside that ring. Fighters general and a
name boxing, So we don't know we're going to come back.
(04:21):
You know, there's been there's been several tragedies during these
last years where fighters, you know, don't make it. So
but that being said, you just got to appreciate every
single moment every time I'm going to step up in
that ring. You know, I call the wife because you know,
you know, if you want to tell you to tell
the kids, I love you, and the kids because you
never know, those better be my last words if it
goes south. But I think the order has always gone
(04:43):
wells my rivals and for me, and as that mindset
that we go into it.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
If I with Leon Wilson, which is a.
Speaker 5 (04:50):
Happy moment, happy moment that we want to fight, that
we got another ticket for another opportunity for another fight,
especially for the world title fight like this one.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Yeah, and and come you know, fight night.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
It'll be almost I think sixteen months since your first
fight with him. How do you feel knowing that you
have the opportunity to right the wrong?
Speaker 3 (05:11):
As they say, I feel great.
Speaker 5 (05:13):
I feel great this opportunity because now everybody gets the
second opportunity. You don't get a second chance, especially a
fight like that, because I know, I know it was
a one side of fight, and once when they're one
side of fighters, people don't want to see a rematch.
But my last performance and started hearing a lot about
the possibility of rematch, and I said.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
Wow, of course I'll take it. It's a blessing. Let's go.
Speaker 5 (05:38):
And you know we took the fight immediately. You know,
I've never been a type of fighter who thinks about it. Yeah,
I'm gonna take this wrong and take that. Well, let
me think about it. First fight move, let's go almost
and you know, and again I talk about looking at
as a blessing. So now we're back in the gym,
training for a second opportunity, looking at what we did wrong,
looking at the fight, looking at the film, and okay,
(06:00):
we did.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
This wrong, with that wrong? Was this this that?
Speaker 5 (06:03):
Now trained smarter, trained to that. So now that's what's
been different. But I just feel happy. We're going for
an opportunity, taking advantagement, all.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
Right, and then there's another fight. Anybody knows. So in
your corner, you know, as part of your team, I
would I wanna ask, how's your relationship evolved from the
time that you added him or you joined him, however
you want to look at it to now fighting for
another world title.
Speaker 5 (06:32):
You know, it's been good. You know, me and they
have a good relationship. He's a great guy inside inside
the ring, inside the gym, and outside. You know, it's
a person who just constantly talks about boxing. Was constantly
talking about game plans. He's talking about this fight and
that fight, and he goes way back to the when
the sixties and talk about fighters from those days. So
(06:53):
there's always something to learn, you know, especially in boxing,
you can learn so many things and so many game
plans and and you know, strategies, a lot of repetitions
to perfect them. Maybe that's straight jab, straight right hand
and as fighters, maybe we got that ego, so we
know we already know how to throw a jab. Keep
on working on it. Just work on different things, and you
(07:14):
always stick to work with that jab jab jab or
right hand, right hand up up and to try to
get it right. So, yeah, a relationship with EDI's it's
been good. You know, he's he's just a great guy.
And I already always think him because we know he's
got he's got to face a bus and that could
take a lot of play, especially somebody like another who
(07:35):
who was always in the jam and once that attention
from his training because it was his training fight before
it was mine. It's always got to respect that. As
far as let's go over here, let's go training, so
when they go, I go, as far as you go
to lake talk and I'm there some day, well I'm
there some day. So it's just been a great relationship.
(07:55):
You know, you you you learn, and I just think
it's very unfair when you know, when you lose, I
see a lot of people criticizing the trainer, but when
we win, I feel there's there they're the least person.
We actually get some credit. So every time I get
the chance, I always thank Eddie for for helping me
get these victories. At the end of the day, we're
inside the ring. But you know, boxing is a one
(08:17):
man sport, but I consider a team sport because you
you do gotta cut man, you gotta training, you got
a straighting, conditioning coach. You got somebody who's with you
twenty first seven named my cousin Bubba Huro was always
helping me out here and there, So you know it's
it's it's a team sport.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
Yeah, for sure, for sure.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
And you know, going back to this rematch, do you
see it playing out any differently stylistically than the than
the first one? Or should we be expecting kind of
something similar because everybody loved the first fight, regardless of
how the outcome you know, played out at the end.
Speaker 5 (08:51):
Yeah, you know, you gotta got I gotta go back
and and rethink everything, and we have we gotta, we gotta,
we gotta expect some way different for sure. One hundred
better footwork, smarter fighter inside the ring general, So simple terms,
just be the smarter fighters, how they work hard, smart
for this fight. And that's it because I know, I
know what, I know what to expect. The first time,
(09:13):
I didn't know, you know what inn in and I
realized inside that ring why he wins, why it's hard
to hit him with those lupis shots. So now did
I know that, you know, go back and we trained
for that fight specifically.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
All right, and then.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
Are you but for whatever reason do you think that
you know, being at this stage of his career, this
may be a last shot out of the title.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (09:42):
You know, my last fight was I ghetto.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
The question was asked.
Speaker 5 (09:45):
He heard a lot of people retired and we wanted
to fight with with with Wilson. I know Wilson's not
a ghetto, but it was for a title fighters entertaining
and it would have been if w I leave the division,
we would have been the champion of the division. So
it just shows me that you know, staying disciplin all
side of all side of camp, staying keeping it this
(10:07):
type of lifestyle education education more of a healthy body,
of working hard, of avoiding cern, you know, of avoiding
the sexist parties and excessive you know, whatever is out there,
txes out there are going to expand your lifespan, athletic lifespan.
So you know, I don't know, I never I've always
(10:30):
want to, but don't don't ever come me out because
I put in the work. I always put in the
work for for for a good night of boxing.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
Yeah, and and you know what should people going to
Phoenix to see this fight, whether they've seen it on
their tablet or on TV, what are they going to
come away with on the summerset when it's all set
and then a.
Speaker 5 (10:49):
Good night of boxing, that's for sure, Because I always
I never promise a knockout of a year. I never
promise a knockout in general. I have never a promise,
you know, fight of a year something, just a promise.
None of that to my fans. But of what I
do promise every single time I'm inside the ring, give
them one hundred percent, giving my best, leave my blood, sweat, tears, emotions,
(11:10):
everything inside that ring. And every time I do that,
you know, which is most of the times, you know,
it's a good night of boxing. Well, at least the
people who are around me, or people are like the
Fanda addicts. They always tell me they enjoy the fight
and if they win, the good night of boxes. It's
almost like if I win, even though I lost, because
when I lost Abou Kettle, I was heartbroken. And then
when I was back home and serious on people walking
(11:34):
up to me and telling me thank you. You know,
it was thank you. That's the first time I got
to thank you for losing. Thank you for giving that effort,
because we could tell you were giving your badforst oh
right man, that's a I could take that as a
win as well.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
You know.
Speaker 5 (11:49):
I appreciate and I appreciate to all the other people
out there who really enjoy every time they said that
inside that ring, because I was I was a little
kid once and I was inspired by great fight and
every time anyone will fight, I will I will screaming
at a TV and every time they won, I won,
(12:09):
and I was, I will go to bed happy with
a smile on my face.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
If I could do that to my people.
Speaker 5 (12:15):
Who has a drink contrue, all.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
Right, that's what's asking listen. I appreciate your time. I
wish you the best of luck in December and uh
I we'll talk, So thank you.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
All right, all right, ladies and gentlemen, thank you for
tuning in to the Boxing Rush Hour show Fights at
w dot com.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
My next guest gotta fight.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
Coming up, but not a traditional fight. It's gonna be
on the b y B Extreme Bare Knuckle on December sixth,
called Brawl in the Pines. I can only be talking
about one man. His name is on his shirt and
he goes by Robert durand Junior.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
How's it going.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
I'm good, Chap. Thank you for I mean, you know,
for having me on your on your show. I appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Yeah, no doubt.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
You know, it's funny because I spoke to you some
years ago when I used to work in uh, when
I used to work at New York Fights dot com.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
So I think I remember, Yeah, it's been it's been
a little bit.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
So you know, I've followed your journey for a little
while now, but you know, I kind of wanted to
know what's been life like for you just outside the
ring in general. You know, people haven't really heard from
you in a while other than those that follow you
on social media, so just kind of get them up
to speed on what life has been like outside the
(13:38):
ring for you.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
You know, life is life, man, you know, working, taking
care of my kids, you know, making sure I'm good,
making sure I'm able to get to the gym, you know,
just regular basic things that you know, us Homer people
go through. You know. You know, like if you said
you've been following me for a while, you know, I don't.
(13:59):
I don't really do too much on the social media.
I'm not really out there like that. You know. I'm
just trying to focus on myself and being better every day.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
Yeah, no doubt.
Speaker 4 (14:10):
And then you know, listen, I'm gonna only say this
up front and not because you know it it matters,
not because it matters for for anything that we say afterwards,
but just to kind of get it out of the way.
Obviously you're the son of a legend, right.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
And that's Roberto Duran.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
There was a time where you guys weren't really on
speaking terms, if I remember correctly, and I think that
I think that now you guys are in a much
better place. How has that been for you? Seeing it
from one extreme to another kind of thing?
Speaker 2 (14:51):
It's like, like I tell everybody, you know, me and
my father were very very distant you know, I didn't.
I didn't grow up with it. But thanks to my
older brother, you know, Robin. You know, shout out to
my brother Robin. He kind of plugged us back in,
you know, and that and that really took a toll
on me mentally, you know, because you know, it's a
(15:13):
good thing. At the end of the day. I don't
hold no crudges against my posts. I don't. I don't
hold anything against my father, you know what I mean,
because I know how it is. You know, I'm a
grown man. I don't said tears. But ever since me
and my possible kindo man, it's just been like, how
do you say it, like a fresh breath there? You
know what may not may not been like an every
(15:34):
day I think between me and my pops, but at
least it's something. You know, we're starting somewhere, so you know,
I thank God for that.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
That's beautiful.
Speaker 7 (15:43):
Man.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
All Right, we're gonna go right into your stuff. Your
last boxing match right was in October of twenty twenty three.
If I'm not mistaken, in Rio Saudi Arabia.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
I don't even get me started on that fight. This
is me off man so much.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
Now, you know, obviously you know you you uh, you lost.
You were stopped in the one in the second round,
I think it was, but not really so much emphasis
on the fight itself.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
How did it go.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
From being competing in the boxing ring to then signing
a deal with BYB, you know, a few months later.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
So how that played out after that fight? You know,
there's a lot of there was a lot of I
don't really want to curse, but there was a lot
of shady things going on the build up to that fight.
You know, that was a fight that was in my
hands that I could have easily won. You know, things happened.
(16:49):
You know, it happened already. But to elaborate a little
bit on that, is that I had a chance in
my hands and it was taken away from me. You know,
I didn't it's opportunity to to keep fighting, which I
was good. It was a simple knockdown, and then the
ref waved it off on some bullshit, you know, excuse
(17:11):
my language, but that's just what it was. But it
is what it is. So after that happened, I already
seen that damn boxing is not what it used to be.
It's a lot of politics, a lot of favoritism. You know,
so if you're not with these people, they can care
less about you, you know what I mean. So Ever,
since that incident, I'm like, you know what, it's time
(17:32):
to look towards a different direction, you know. And then
I found my way to byb.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
Okay all right? And then you know, you had your
first fight.
Speaker 4 (17:43):
I think it was in May, so you signed the
deal or they made the announcement in February. You had
your first fight in May against Javon Wright.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
I believe it was.
Speaker 4 (17:55):
Now I saw you that you mentioned that, you know,
you've gotten into kind of bare knuckle fighting coming up,
you know, as a youngster and all that. But that
described to me that first time when you were in
the ring and you getting hit with a with a
bare knuckle punch vice a punch with a glove.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Look, man, bare knuckle fighting is like if you grow
up street fighting in the streets. There's no difference, you know,
the only difference is in bare knuckle there's no slamming,
there's no elbows, there's nothing. It's just ants in the streets.
You gotta watch out for everything else. You gotta watch
(18:35):
out for your mom throwing pots at you, your grandfather
trying to run you over, you know, so I felt
I felt that home, you know, I felt right back
at home. It was one hell of it and it
was very exciting, just you know, just to put it
like that. Man, it was everything I expected, you know,
(18:56):
everything I expected it.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
Okay, And then.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
So now you you have your third fight in twenty
twenty four coming up on December sixth against looks like
Richie Plomino. How difficult or different if anything, is it
ready for? Is it getting ready for a bare knuckle
fight versus getting ready for.
Speaker 3 (19:19):
A boxing match?
Speaker 4 (19:20):
Because I mean, people may not understand what if there's
a difference in the preparation for that, Like how do
you prepare for you getting hit bare knuckle unless you're
in training camp getting hit bare knuckles?
Speaker 3 (19:32):
So like, how does that necessarily work?
Speaker 2 (19:36):
To be honest with you, there's not really much of
a difference, you know. Really the only thing is that
you would do a lot more to condition yourself for
brenon knuckle is conditioning your hands, you know, making them stronger.
So like that when you because you know, you can
break your hand at any time in barn nuckle. If
(19:56):
you throw a wrong in incorrect punch, that could be it,
you know, So you have to train and condition your
hands to make them harder, make them stronger, and punch placement,
you know what I mean. And on top of that,
you're conditioning same thing you would do for boxing. On
your conditioning, you would have to like two times there
for bare knuckle, you know, because bare knuckle is five
(20:19):
to six rounds three minutes, and you don't want to
gas out. So if you gas out and bare knuckle, man, listen,
you're gonna have a hal You're gonna have a tough time,
you know what I mean. So conditioning and then conditioning
your hands is basically the only things really that changes
from boxing into bare knuckle.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
Yeah, because you know, even those moments I lost you there,
I lost you.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
On the my bad my phone kicked me off for
some reason. I apologize.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
It's okay, man. Sometimes when you get a call or whatever, it'll.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
Tend to do that.
Speaker 4 (20:58):
No, what I was saying was that, you know, within
boxing and you're you know, there's those rounds or those
moments where you know you're leaning and you know, throwing
little little shots here and there. But but you have
gloves on a little bit a little different when you
leaning and maybe you know getting here.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
With those short shots. But bare knuckle.
Speaker 8 (21:21):
I mean, you know, in boxing you can easily defend
a lot way better because you have eight ounce twelve
ounces basically covering half your face. You know, with bare
knuckles Britain, it's difficult to do that. You know, you
have your hands.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
Me, I tend to like open my hands because it
gives me more space to cover. You know, it's just
but you gotta be on the move, man. You gotta
be on your toes. You gotta stay alert at all
times and moveing.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
You gotta move, yeah, you know, but no doubt.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
So now listen, I mean, you're not a young gun,
no more. Right, you're thirty six years old. You're fighting
bear knuckle. How much longer do you see yourself doing this?
Speaker 3 (22:03):
Or is that something that you're even thinking about?
Speaker 8 (22:06):
No, man, listen, I age like fine wine, baby, I
age like fine wine kid at that that thirty six
don't mean shit to me. You know, I fight and
performed like if I was twenty. To be honest with you,
you know what I mean. And that's not me just
saying that because that's just how I feel. You know,
I eat properly, I take my vitamins. I'm always training,
(22:27):
I'm always working out. I don't party, I don't drink,
I don't smoke, I don't do any of that, you know.
And I kind of embedded that in my min in
my in my mind, you know. So you know, what
you think, your mind, what you repeat, your body becomes
at you know. So in my mind, I'm like, I'm
young every day. I'm twenty every day, you know, like, Okay,
(22:50):
this guy's twenty every day.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
That's just what.
Speaker 3 (22:55):
I ain mad at you for that, man.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
I you know, I say that to myself every day too.
But then every once in a while, I get reminded,
I'm forty five.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
That's none but the number. Man, that's just all in
your mind.
Speaker 3 (23:07):
Yeah, no doubt. All right.
Speaker 4 (23:10):
Listen, lastly, why should people tune into your fight on
December sixth, and it's going to be on the Fight
Network for those here in the US.
Speaker 8 (23:19):
This is the Gorilla baby, you know, it's and Goda's
in the building.
Speaker 7 (23:23):
You know.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
I always come to fight. I always come.
Speaker 8 (23:27):
I don't really want to say entertained, because I don't
really entertain. I come to fight, you know, that's my profession.
That's what I do, but for people that are watching
is entertaining. I guess you know, you know, so gonna
be explosive, all right, it was byb you know we
do it the best.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
No doubt.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
All right, Well listen, Robert, I appreciate your time and
I wish you the best of luck.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
On December sixth, I appreciate you, my friend, thank you
for having me on the show Man, God blessed likewise?
Speaker 4 (24:00):
Right, hey, Jordan, what's going on?
Speaker 7 (24:02):
Man?
Speaker 4 (24:03):
It's uh as as sunny and as clear and as
beautiful as it is in the background.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
It seems like your.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
Career is just as bright, big big stuff happening with
everything that you got going on. Sign a new deal
we're going to get into and all that. But you've
been busy with you have three fights this year. What
has life been like for Jordan? Not the fighter inside
the ring, but outside.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Of the ring?
Speaker 9 (24:31):
I mean recently, life's been good. I've been traveling a
little bit, seating a lot of family, you know, missing
a lot of things over the years. So hop over
to a wedding, hang out with cousins, family, travel around
Europe a little bit. Uh So, Yeah, life's been good,
enjoying a little bit standing in gym during all the
time as well. So I'm kind of just waiting for
(24:54):
my debut with Golden Boy on the Zone and whatnot,
and uh yeah, which coming soon and so focused but
enjoying enduring life, enjoying the weather and joining the sun
in the background, that's for sure.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (25:07):
And you know you you mentioned Golden Boy and you
signing a deal with them. Obviously you've been training out
of brick House in in l A. You're with Julian Chua,
who's been training you. I guess my question is, with
all the different opportunities that are out there, why did
Golden Boy make the most sense for you?
Speaker 9 (25:28):
I think made the most sense because they're about making
the best fights. They had the right vision for me,
keep me active. It was here more local in California.
I just thought they had we had the right Oya
had the right stame mindset, and uh, I think he's
got his motivation for box right now similar to mine.
(25:52):
So I think it made more sense overre PBC top rank.
You know mattterw mcqueensberry, you know American promoter knows what
he's doing, improving through the trenches with other fighters, and
you know, four is a hot division. He's other guy
that want before, and he's been making the best fights
happen and exciting fights, and I think I think he's
(26:15):
the best person for the job to make that happen.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
So you okay, all right, and then you know your
opponent obviously is to be determined on December fourteenth. You
know you've got some you're taking some time off to
take care of some things. When when are you gonna
officially like lockdown and start your training camp.
Speaker 9 (26:35):
Technically, I'll do an eight week training camp which will
be in two weeks, but I'll be in the gym
these next two weeks as well, so I like to
do that. Let's do a full eight leek training camp.
But before the training camp starts, I like to do
I'm basically in the gym. But it's just not telling
you this is a little I guess I'll say it's
a little easier going through the motions, you know, getting
the buyer ray, don't jump into like smashing stuff, smashing
(26:58):
heavy bags and whatnot. So I think these two weeks
go on runs, hit the stairs, move around, be in
the gym every day, doing things, just maybe a little
bit toned back and then the eight week mark, which
is the two weeks from this from today is when
trading camp technically starts.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
Okay, and then talk about at this point, you know,
you've had these fights as a pro being with Julian Chua,
and how has that how have you seen yourself progress
with under his tutelage.
Speaker 9 (27:33):
I've seen it progress a lot. I've seen it a
lot in the gym. You see I see in the
fights too, but I see it a lot in the gym,
especially after a fight. Come back to the gym and sparring,
you see levels go up. I'm just sparring good fighters,
and it's not what's it called a competitive sparking session
at all, So I'm better fighters. It's a little surprising
(27:55):
times and how much better I get, how much it
clicks or whatnot. I think Jillian's I agree with Julian.
He's crazy about the fundamentals and basics. And you know,
I'm a guy who's psycho about things too, like psychle
about drilling things and making things perfect. So it's per match,
you know, making my hand place, me perfect, my balance,
(28:16):
my footwork always been in positioned to the paunch or defend.
Like being perfect and drilling that stuff, and I drill
it and everything no matter what I'm doing, heavy bag,
double limp bag, shadow box and slip bag. You know, spart,
I'm always drilling it. Look in the mirror and drilling it,
making sure that I'm messing up for a second or
one not always in the position a good box and stands.
(28:36):
You know, a lot of guys hit a heavy bag
for three minutes and turn that three minutes, how many
times do they bounce up and you know, bounce around.
That's if if you tell what I'm saying, that's technically
you know, you're not in a good position. You're not
taking that little bounce break during a real fight. You know,
the fight, you're always you're always in the zone. But
the little bed knees always in position ready to attack
(28:59):
or defend. So even that even those little things matter,
and you know that helps with your condition and cardio.
It takes a little bounce breaks is refreshing, so you
hindsight makes it a little easier, and don't want to
make training easier.
Speaker 4 (29:13):
Yeah, no doubt and uh and you you touched on
it before. Man one fifty four is flooded with talent
and uh uh you have you you said something about
or I think on the press release it said something
about maybe fighting six times next year.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
Are you okay with like.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
A slow build towards what you want to do or
which fights you want to get to?
Speaker 2 (29:40):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (29:40):
Or are you looking for like a top name at
the end of those six fights?
Speaker 3 (29:44):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (29:45):
Next year because it's so crowded and and the belts
are kind of like held up between like two or
three guys.
Speaker 9 (29:52):
Yeah, next year at six, but I'll know I get
at least four and four or five. I'll be happy.
That'll be very busy, busy any other fighters at this stage,
you know, I see me fighting a lot of tough
dudes next year. You know, Do I get any of
those names at the top?
Speaker 7 (30:10):
I don't know.
Speaker 9 (30:10):
That's really not for me to say. It doesn't really
matter if I want it or not, because because if
I do want it, it doesn't make it doesn't make
it happen, you know what I mean technically, so, but
what I really do see, if it does happen in
next year, great, But what I really do see is
me fighting a lot of tough dudes, guys who are
like entering that next level, me putting on impressive, spectacular performances,
(30:36):
dominant be for what I've been doing, and then I
definitely see me fighting for world title and fighting. Once
I fight one dude at the top in twenty twenty six,
the doors open and I'll be fighting everybody. So that's
I really do see. I see next year be fighting
a lot of tough dudes, big stages figure each time,
me putting on spectacle performances, twenty six, me fighting for
(30:57):
a world title and uh fighting every fight. I see
you finding exciting guy or a guy who's knowing a guy. Yeah,
so that's what I see.
Speaker 4 (31:06):
Now, let me ask you this, do you I mean,
you know every fighter is different in this sense, but
do you have like a fighter in your mind that
you say to yourself when me and him finally meet,
it's going to be a classic.
Speaker 3 (31:22):
Do you have one of those fighters in mind?
Speaker 9 (31:24):
Yeah, A couple of a couple of fighters. I think
I'll mean I'll steamroll, I don't. I think there are
hyped up and then I got fighters. I think it'll
be a classic. I think me and tim Zo would
be a classic. I think me and Virgil Ortis is
to be a classic as well. So those are two
right at the top.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
Yeah, yeah, nice, Okay.
Speaker 9 (31:44):
Both of those guys, those are two guys that don't
dislike how they carry themselves and what I've met. I
met Tim Zoo, but I haven't met virtual Teas. But
you know, I met Tim, so I know him. So
I didn't not dislike them how they carry himself. They
did the career, so you know, And I would say
I don't like a lot of guys in boxing, so
those are to the few.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
Okay, all right, what should people know about you that
they likely don't know about you that you'd want them to.
Speaker 9 (32:11):
Know they don't know them? And it's crazy because you
asked me that, Like what the people don't know? I
guess because yeah, it's funny. People always, I guess think
from my girlfriend or other people. They always see my
social media or see me at the gym and whatnot.
At the gym, I'm focused, you know, I'm focused. I'm
here to do business. I'm here to play around and
joke around. So I guess I see a certain type
(32:33):
of Jordan serious, you know, just I don't know. I
can't explain to I guess the best person ex playing
to someone who I'm talking about my girlfriend or someone
from the gym who only saw me in the gym
and then one time they hung on me with outside
the gym. They have a different perspective of me. I
guess the senses that I'm actually I'm not always serious Matt.
I'm nice guy. I play around.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
I joke.
Speaker 9 (32:54):
I'm a calm of a wild dude. I like to
do John Rush wild things. I'm a funny guy. I
think some people say about me when they see me
in those and other eras are like, man, he's just
always serious, stone cold, not smiles, there to do. I
guess that's the way I always been trained from Hawaii.
I was always taught you gotta train how you fight.
(33:14):
When I fight a very mean, angry guy. So that's
kind of how I trained. Nine times out the time
I go to jail, I'm out there to like talk
and chat. I'm there to do worry that's sparring, but
beating the ship, have a heavy bag, or whatever's going
on today. It's kind of I guess my mindset. It's
kind of hard to get out of imssing guy and
his ways or whatnot. But you know, I'm just a
dude who loves his country. Who you know who loves
(33:38):
a lot of good things. The more I'm a good person,
I'm not a not a bad dude, but i will
get bad. But if bad, getting bad is what it
takes at the job done, I will turn bad.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (33:53):
And lastly, on December fourteenth, you're fighting at the Toyota Center, Tario, California.
I was telling Bernie that, you know, hardcore A is
A ten is.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
A good fight.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
City lexis Roach versus Raoul Kurrell is the main event.
When when people watch your fight that night, what's the
lasting impression you want to leave on them.
Speaker 9 (34:17):
I mean, it's what I've been doing every time. I
feel like I'm an honest dude. I feel like I've
done it every time. And when I'm gonna do this,
coming is again a dominant, explosive performance. I mean he
might see new things. Yeah, you might see a new
new fold of me, maybe a new mood, new skills.
(34:37):
But no matter what you see, it's gonna be dominating.
There'sna be lots of punches, there's gonna be skills, there's
gonna be pain, there's gonna be excitement. You know, someone's
gonna get heard. And yeah, it's been punches being thrown
the powerful punches to throw. I'm looking for damage, but
it's gonna be done in a skillful manner, and so
I give a little bit of all that. I think
(34:59):
I've shown that my fights. You know, I went to
distance once and that was in October of twenty three
against Cameron Burrow. But if you watch that fight, I
mean that was an exciting fight. I think I threw
six hundred punches even that's my account. I recounted them slow.
Put in slow and watch it. So that's uh, I
don't know, seventy something punches that average around. You know,
(35:20):
I beat the living crap out of eight rounds tough
to have two busted hands and not broken, but just
really bad Bruce hands from the very beginning. So that's
played a fact there, but but it doesn't matter of fact.
And well, it was super exciting. I beat the living
crap out of him. I got pictures on a wall
in the fight where he's like, ah, bracing for impact
pretty much, brace for impact, you know, like for like
(35:41):
a ship, brace for impact. That's kind of had pictures
I have looked on the wall. So it's gonna be
exciting and whatnot. And you know it's cool. I should
have new. I showed a new move my February fight
and twenty four. You know, I faked the right hand
the left, fook to the body boom, caught him, dropped him,
put him out. You know what's it called. In my fight,
I got hit a little bit more than you think.
(36:03):
I rolled the punch I got hit with it came
back the right right upper cut to the soulplex boom.
That's what caused the what preceded after that, which I
dropped him after that and then the last fight. I mean,
I knocked out a dude, never been, never been stopped
or dropped. Went to distance with Sebastian Pundora and Troy Eisley,
and they didn't look that good against them, especially looked
(36:25):
that good at all. I mean, you canna argue that
maybe Victor Townya won that fight, I mean my opinion,
and he looked like chump changed me. I figured him
out and I whitewashed for them one little short punch
of boom, it's good night. So I have the power
to end it with one punch, to have the excitement skills.
I mean, that's what I'm saying. So that's what I'm
gonna do De Sumber fourteen that Ontario. I'm gonna put
on a show of skills and just a blistering performance
(36:47):
and see me e scign on, redbody and blue is
gonna be everywhere. I got the shorts. I got a
special uh special gloves coming for this fight. So I'm
sure shoving red, white and blue down your throat. If
you like it, cool, if you don't like it, ship,
I don't care. It's coming anyway, So be good.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
All right, joy listen. I appreciate your time.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
I wish you the best luck in December and in
your future for next year as well.
Speaker 9 (37:11):
