USh. I'll show fights atw dot com.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
I'm here with the guy that seems like the opponents
just don't want to make it to the ring.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
And we'll get it into that in a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
And next though, Tito Mercado sixteen to oh fifteen KOs
And next or Tito, how you doing man.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
I'm doing good man, playing back in training. I'm just
excited from my expid.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Yeah, no doubt.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
And so before we get into that, in the late
summer or at least you know, we all found on
the late summer that you signed with Mattrew, I'm curious
to know what stood out about them that made you
want to go in that direction and was there something
unique about the deal, you know, co promotion or anything
like that involved.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
I mean, more or less, man, we've seen the track
record when they've been making these big fights happen within
the last past year or two. They get the fights done,
you know, the fights that I've seen these spiders, the
banding that you know that before they signed with them,
they got the fights that they wanted. And you know,
if you want those big night fights, we know. Unfortunately
we got to go to a big promoter who has
pool and we feel like Eddie hen was a guy
that's not only you know, build a promote the fight

(02:43):
very well, but get us the fights that we want.

Speaker 5 (02:45):
And like I said, man's track record, he's been showing.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Yeah, no doubt.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
And you were supposed to fight your fourth fight in
twenty twenty four recently, but your opponent was seven pounds
over at the last minute.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
This thing about last.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Minute, whether it's overweight, whether it's not showing up, it
kind of tends to happen when they realize that they're
going to fight you, either the next night or in the.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Days to come.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Was there a moment where you were like, Man, not
this again at this point?

Speaker 4 (03:18):
Yeah, Man, especially you know it being my debut, a
lot of people anticipating me fighting, a lot of people
the day before coming up to me saying they're decided
for me to fight.

Speaker 5 (03:24):
A lot of people that flew in from LA to
watch me fight.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
So to me, man, it was like even to a
point where I was like, you know, I'm gonna take
the fight just like that, But I just I just
too that's too much boy.

Speaker 6 (03:34):
Man.

Speaker 5 (03:34):
By the time me Rehydris two's gonna be up to
one seventy.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
And you know a lot of people say, oh, you
know there's certain fighters that took fights for a little bit,
but it could go either way. You know, once you
lose the fight, you can't be saying, oh he was,
so it could go either way, man. So it's really
you got to pick in shoot your battles man. So
it just really depends on your situation. But for me, man,
it just made no sense. He wasn't even trying to
lose the weight. A guy that doesn't even try to
lose the weight, man, you don't just fight.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Yeah, not onely that, but not at this point in
your career.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
You may making your debut with a major promotional company,
you've already made it to this point of your career.
Like that might be like early early career stuff, but
not not at this point.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
Yeah, man, if I was a main event, maybe it'll
be a little bit different, but man, it just made
no sense, made no seven pounds, made made no sense
for me.

Speaker 5 (04:17):
And uh, like I said, we said it for the.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Next fight, all right.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
And then obviously you were upset, but your new promoter,
Eddie Hearn, you know, has made efforts to make a right.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
So when are we expecting to see you back in
the ring?

Speaker 4 (04:29):
January twenty fifth in Las Vegas, So that's my next day,
so we'll be ready, okay.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
And and has there been an opponent named?

Speaker 4 (04:37):
Yeah, I'm actually going against Jose On generally twenty fifth,
so obviously a way bigger name than you know, the
last fight.

Speaker 5 (04:43):
And I'm just excited man form wal world champion.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
I thinks this fight is definitely improming the map and
in Vega, so we're we're better to be at.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Yeah. No, that's a that's a really good fight for you.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
Man.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Let's let's talk about the transition from being an independent
fighter trying to figure it out to go into a
major promotion.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Do you feel like there's a load off your shoulders.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Because it's no longer like you yourself and I trying
to figure it all out with your dad and stuff.

Speaker 5 (05:10):
Yeah, definitely a lot easier, man.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
But when I guess when it comes to the sense,
you know, these fighters still not being professional, I guess
in that sense things don't change. I mean, by the
only independent we started guys trying to come overweight.

Speaker 5 (05:21):
We gotta make sure they don't wait. So it's all
I mean, unfortunate man.

Speaker 6 (05:25):
Fighters.

Speaker 5 (05:25):
Now they're becoming more and more on professional.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
I mean I think that weekend it was like four
five fighters that came in over wait, and we've seen
them more often now, So I guess in that sense, no,
But as far as you know the venue promoting the fight, yeah,
it's definitely been a load off our shoulders. And like
I said, Matt, you have been doing big fights, you know,
drawing and this stuff. I would have been a great
card to be under. You know, they have banned a
lot of there's a lot of promotions. So definitely disappointed

(05:48):
on fighting out. But in that sense, man, definitely been
a lot off our shoulders.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
Yeah, but I mean you you weren't able to fight there,
but now you're getting like a step up formal world champion,
veteran and draws and Jenny right, I think you know
it kind of works itself out if if I have
to say.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
From the outside looking in.

Speaker 5 (06:07):
Yeah, no, definitely.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
And then even even then, man, you know Padraza, I
know we offered him, you know, offered to fight him
before I was independent, he kept trying to get I
think having a certain level of you know, promoted like
Eddie Hearn sometimes could get you through the door.

Speaker 5 (06:21):
Even if these guys keep saying no, you mentioned, you know,
have a.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
Chance to they just see it more. I guess two
higher risk, low reward, you know. So I guess in
that sense, you know, it definitely does help out because
we offer a lot of top guys fights and they
just rejected them.

Speaker 5 (06:35):
And then, like I said, having a talk guy like
that definitely helps.

Speaker 6 (06:38):
Out a lot.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Yeah, no doubt, no doubt, all right in.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
In short, like, how would you describe this year for
you some of the things that maybe went right, maybe
some of the things that went wrong, or if there's
anything that you would change about it?

Speaker 4 (06:55):
Man, I think this should have been a pretty good
year for me, you know, besides me not fighting November obviously,
I feel like, uh, it was a long camp, you know,
to be just thrown out the way like that. But
other than that, Man, I think everything's been going you know,
as planned. You know, uh, you know, we got a
big signing with Matchroom, like you said, late summer.

Speaker 5 (07:11):
I think it was like August Septembers. That was big
for me, man.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
And then to be able to just you know, be
with them and them kind of me, you know, putting
putting me at the next guy for one and just
you know, putting me in great fights.

Speaker 6 (07:22):
Man.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
Look, this next fight they got me with definitely doing
better than they definitely stepped up from last opponent that
I got in November. So I'm happy, man, happy with
with with my crisional man. And hopefully I can fight.

Speaker 5 (07:34):
Four five times this year to make up for last
year for the less fight.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
And I was gonna ask you, is twenty twenty five
where we see, uh you get fast tracked to uh
to a even bigger fight or a title fight or
are you comfortable and patient with where you you know,
where the chips fall moving forward?

Speaker 4 (07:54):
No, Man, I want to I'm gonna keep get these
bigger fights. And like I said, man, I feel like
with this fight, they definitely stepped up. And then I
started gonn keep us for more step ups and depending
obviously I come out healthy. You don't want to fight
as many times as possible, so you know, hopefully the
goals at least you know for sure for but I
won't have at least fight to make up for like
I said this year that that I missed the fight,
and I just want to keep stepping up. And like

(08:14):
I said, Edie Hearn's been stepping up every single time.
So this fight after just fight, you know, once I
get through the draws, I know he's gonna step up
with an even bigger name. So I just I'm just excited.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
Man, Okay, all right?

Speaker 3 (08:23):
And then if if you had to describe your mentality
heading into twenty twenty five, what would you say, Man.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
I'm come for the World champions I think I think
it's the best time, especially like I said, I got
Eddie hurt. Now after these couple of fights, man, after
this next fight, you never know, you maybe want to
be like, yo, we gotta give you a title shot, opportunity,
I'll take it. So it just it's really now just
you know, doing my thing and just being ready w
the opportunity films because I could, I could very well
since the opportunity for a title shot this coming twenty

(08:52):
twenty five.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
No doubt, all right.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
And then and then lastly, Eddie Hearn isn't going to
get froggy and challenge you to one of his little
runs that he does before the fights, is he?

Speaker 6 (09:02):
Now? Hope No?

Speaker 5 (09:03):
No, I hope not. Damn you'd be studying me up
that way, I hope not.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
All right, Hey, listen, Tito, I appreciate your time. I
want to wish you the best of luck in your
fight in January and and for a bigger.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
Twenty twenty five.

Speaker 5 (09:17):
Thanks man, appreciate it all right, Thank you.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
All right, ladies and gentlemen, thank you for tuning in
to the Boxing Rush Hour show fights atw dot com. Listen,
I got the guy that nobody wants to fight in
the junior middleweight division. I'm gonna say it because it's
the truth, all right, And you know, normally he delivers
the bad news in the ring, and that's why nobody
wants to fight him.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
I can only be talking about one.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
Man who's twenty and oh fifteen KOs and that's Charles Conwell.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Charles, what's going on?

Speaker 6 (09:48):
Yes, sir? How you doing? How you doing?

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Yeah? Man?

Speaker 3 (09:51):
So listen, yeah, ranked number five with the WBC, fourteen
with the IBF and number three with the WBA.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
This guy, know, he's been putting in the work for a.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
Long time, and you know now it seems like, you know,
you're finally getting you know, the opportunities that.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
You've worked so hard for. But before we.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
Get into that, I want to just take a step
back for a second. What's been going on with Charles
Khnwell outside of the Ring this year? Just to kind
of give people a peek behind the curtain of life
of Charles Khnwell in twenty twenty four.

Speaker 4 (10:29):
This year, you know, I did something big outside of
the ring and I opened up my own gym.

Speaker 6 (10:34):
So I'm excited about that. You know.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
I teamed up with my family and friends and we
just we created something for the kids in the inner city.
We parted up with a mental health agency. So everything's
just going real good for me right now outside of
the Ring. I'm excited about it. Everything I just opened up,
and I think in September and everything's been going smooth.
I've been getting I've been getting kids in and know what,

(10:58):
I'm excited about it. And it was always uh a
goal of mine to have my own gym, and so
it came true. So that's one of the things I'm
really excited about.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
We talk about that's what's something.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
Now, what's the name of the gym and where is
it located so that people can know.

Speaker 4 (11:14):
Uh, the name of the gym is Team Touch Combat
and Fitness And it's in East Cleveland, Ohio. It's inner
city of Cleveland and just like in the under underserved community.

Speaker 6 (11:25):
But I feel like, uh, what we're doing. It used
to be boxing there.

Speaker 4 (11:28):
It used to be boxing there, like a lot of
uh a lot of treatment boxers came from that city and.

Speaker 6 (11:34):
It's just they shut the boxing gym down.

Speaker 4 (11:36):
So I think it was the perfect opportunity for me
to come in and swoop in and bring boxing back
to that neighborhood. And everything is gonna do yourself far.
So I'm ecited about it.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
Yeah, and and just curious, like what what was this
something you said you had thought about it for a
long time, but I guess I wanted to know what
the motivation was behind you specifically opening up the gym,
and and maybe not so much you know somebody else
that you or somebody's affiliated with you.

Speaker 6 (12:03):
Uh, you know.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
What at first I was just like, I just get
my own dep's gym like for me, like I can
go there anytime, I can just work out anytime. But
now it's like I want to bring boxing back to
Cleveland where I'm from, and I just want to, you know,
to give back what I learned and.

Speaker 6 (12:19):
Just to be a cutter community. You know.

Speaker 4 (12:21):
It's just and it's always still a place for me
to go to work out for myself. So it's just
all just worked out. And it's crazy because I didn't
expect I didn't expect me to do it so soon.
I thought it would be something like sometimes down the line, but.

Speaker 6 (12:33):
Just so happening. Everything just aligned perfectly, and you know
we could not just had to just went for ah.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
That's what's up man, all right. So listen, you signed
with Golden Boy in February, right, You fought in April
and August, both stoppages. This is the first time that
you're fighting the third for three times since twenty twenty,
this this upcoming fight. How has it been with Golden

(13:00):
Boy and how has this situation been different, if any,
than any other situation you've been in as far as
a boxing promoter, Like.

Speaker 6 (13:10):
You said, this is the activity.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
Man, Like you said, I haven't been access in twenty
twenty and that's major. It's twenty twenty four now, So
I'm excited about it.

Speaker 6 (13:19):
And this is what I need.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
It's like, this is what I needed to come up
for such long layoffs and starting stop career. Just the
consistency of just staying active in the ring. And I
feel like with this just it just makes you better.
It makes you more comfortable in the ring, makes you
want It makes you a better overall fighter because you're
more active, training more often, you're in training camera often,
just working on your craft more often.

Speaker 6 (13:39):
So I just think it just makes you better. Man.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
It's giving me constant motivation and giving me, you know,
just letting the world know off still here. I'll get
to put my face in the media a lot more
to talk to you just get on on the zone
and just you're gonna be broadcaster. So I'm excited about it.
Bus This division right now is like the highest division
in box.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
One hundred percent.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
And and you know, given that, so activity kind of
gets you know, it has mixed reviews. Some folks say,
you know, they prefer being more active, some say not
so much because their their bodies take, you know, too much.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
It takes towards toll on them.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
How do you feel physically, given that this is the
first time that you're this active and so long.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
I was like I could, like I said, I took
the long layoffs before this, so it's like it's only right.
I had to come back more. I had to come
back active. I had to come back fighting often.

Speaker 6 (14:34):
Well, I don't, I don't. I don't want a lot
of start stops in my career. I done did that.
I think I'm going into the problem my career.

Speaker 4 (14:42):
I'm at twenty seven years old, so I'm looking for
those just like just the activity, just for me to
catch up and just to get back into the media's
face and get back pushing and getting those big fighters.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
That's what's up all right now, You're fighting an undefeated
guy in VEGAA who's making his US debut.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
He's for mostly I think in Argentina.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
How do you prepare for a twenty fight veteran who
may not have that much fight tape on him because
he's fought like local shows in South America.

Speaker 6 (15:14):
I mean, you just gotta prepare for everything, you know.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
I go on YouTube, I look up to see what
he got on there, and I see what he has.
I know he's southball, I know he's a real tough guy.
He's coming to win. So that right there enough alone
is enough motivation for me to get up every morning
be the best that I can be. So that right there.
But just working on everything. Man, there's nothing, no tone,
no stone goes on turn. I'm trying to just go

(15:37):
out there and perform rather down did the last time,
and get it, get the fans a real good.

Speaker 6 (15:41):
Fight, and just keep moving forward. Man. This is a.

Speaker 4 (15:45):
This is another big fight for me, probably one of
the biggest ones in my career so far, because it's
just big things on the horizon for me in the future.
So this is this is my world title shot for
me right now. So I'm just locked in. I'm ready.

Speaker 6 (15:58):
He's twentying up for he's not you know, so that
means something.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
Yeah, no doubt.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
And you know, so you're training out of your your
gym now right your new gym. Uh, I'm still training
with so City and okay, okay, all right, And so
I was gonna say, have you incorporated anything new to
your camp? You know, like, uh, sometimes you get to
a certain point you start, you know, bringing in like

(16:25):
streffor conditioning on guys or whatever.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
Have you done any of that for this camp?

Speaker 6 (16:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (16:33):
Well been before this camp, like since I been well,
go to the boy. We got a new strength and gissing. God,
I've been new him for a while now, but he
just he just just really started really working together and
locking in since I saw Won't boys from my first
right to this right now, everything's been going real smooth.
So I'm excited about that. I'm always I'm always I

(16:54):
fel like I'm always.

Speaker 6 (16:55):
In good shape.

Speaker 4 (16:56):
I'm always I'm pushing my body to the limit everywhere
now and.

Speaker 6 (17:00):
Excited about that.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
So yeah, what's his name?

Speaker 5 (17:04):
His name is Lorenzo Buckingham.

Speaker 6 (17:05):
He'd be in a.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
Fight Lorenzo Bucket, Okay, all right?

Speaker 3 (17:08):
And then what happens on December fourteenth for the Toyot
Arena in Ontario, California.

Speaker 4 (17:15):
Seven fourteen, you can You're gonna see me with my
hand raised with amin and win and dominant fast.

Speaker 6 (17:20):
And you know, if.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
I if I want the like if I want to
because I say I want the big fights, and I
want the big fights. For me to get the big fights,
I think I need to put on another stadium win
for sure. It's to and finish the year out strong.
So I'm just going to look out there just to
go out there and dominate and just show there's levels
to this game and I'm ready for what's next.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
And and speaking of that, lastly, what does twenty twenty
five look like for you? And is next year the
moment that you get the big fight? And maybe what
are some of the things that your promoter is telling
you right now?

Speaker 4 (17:54):
I think twenty twenty five looks like for me. I
think five is gonna be a breakout your for me.
I feel like twenty twenty five, I'm geting some big
name fighters in the ring with me.

Speaker 6 (18:06):
I think.

Speaker 4 (18:08):
I'll feel I get that title shot man. Hopefully I
want a title shot. If not, I just I would
love to fight the ex world champion or title eliminator
for sure, one of the hosts two. If I can't
get that champion, theaire and so I can just be
right there on the brink and just closing the year
out with another band, get closer and closer to that
world title by flight next year, I should get the
world title shot for sure.

Speaker 6 (18:29):
For the end of the year out.

Speaker 2 (18:30):
That's what's up to listen to.

Speaker 3 (18:32):
From the from your smile, it seems like there's some
really good plans cooking in there.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
And you know, I want to wish you.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
The best of luck next week or December fourteenth, f
on the fight in Ontario, California, and and you know
look forward to seeing what you got cooked out for
next year.

Speaker 5 (18:48):
Yes, sir, I appreciate you.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
Thank you, all right, thank you.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
It's a box of shot show.
