He's gonna get me for that one. I totally one

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Kyle? I don't know why Kyle jumped into my head, Zach.
I'm so sorry about that.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
As I invite you on here to begin with, we'll
have a conversation about that later.
Speaker 5 (01:32):
Yeah, we definitely will, and I'll give you some some
talking to like we always do off air. We make
fun of each other a lot off air. So yeah,
I mean, I've been covering all week. We got a
lot to talk about today. Yesterday, Ron and I covered
a lot of BYU football. Today we're gonna cover some
more Utah football.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Today.
Speaker 5 (01:50):
We got a lot of sound to play. Finally, we
finally get sound.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Yes week.
Speaker 5 (01:54):
The week we've been waiting, Bryce and I'd been like,
where's this, Where's this?
Speaker 6 (01:57):
Where is this? Now? We got sound.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
You're absolutely right that we do got a lot to cover. First,
we're gonna cover the NFL from last night. There was
three games on. We're gonna cover those later in the
NFL Blitz or later in this hour. We're also gonna
talk about the Utah Mammoth. They're in a little bit
of a trouble trying to get their names sort of
at again. They might have to change their name again.
I can't they just get one name standard. Uh, the
(02:20):
Utah hockey color was a cool name. Utah Mammoth is
not a bad name at all. They were gonna be
the Utah Yetti and that all went completely down south
as well. We're gonna talk about that here in a minute.
But also you're right, Zach, we gotta talk about some
Utah football sound BYU Football Sound. We have Ronald we
were the third coming on later to talk about that
BYU Football Sound. We also have Ari Timpkin gonna come
(02:41):
on and talk about the Big twelve and the La Rams.
If you have not heard, we are gonna cover every
single La Rams game on this station throughout the entire
NFL season. We're not just gonna cover the preseason games.
We're not just gonna give you some sound bites from
here and there about what's going on with the La
Rams all season long. Here on one on the three
ninety eight three ESPN the Fan, we are going to
(03:03):
have the La Rams. You're gonna hear about Britain Covey.
You're gonna hear about Puganda Cool all season long. I
can now wait for that football is back, Zach. It
is finally back. It just feels like it in the air.
I know we had the preseason game last week against
the Chargers and the Rams, I mean against the Chargers
and the Lions.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
But it's just it's finally back, dude.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
We can finally say that football is back the fall seasons.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Right around the corner. Get your sweaters ready, get your
big coach ready, because it's right around the corner, isn't it.
Speaker 6 (03:35):
Yes, it is right around the corner.
Speaker 5 (03:36):
We're twenty two days from kickoff byu Utah. And then
we got we got a Week zero game in a
couple of weeks as well with in Dublin.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Yeah, we do Week zero games. You know what.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
I'm glad you brought that Week zero games to me
are some of my favorite games. And I'm glad you
brought the Dublin game because that's always a fun game. Obviously,
I think last year's was Florida State Virgus Georgia Tech.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
That was a barn.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Burner of a game with you know the new look
of Florida State and they couldn't get the quarterback right
Georgia Ted coming out of nowhere having a fun game.
You're right about that man Week zero, Week one or
right around the corner. I cannot wait, but we gotta
start this show off with the first pitch.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Let's hear it and let's talk about it.
Speaker 7 (04:21):
Today, Todays Ready, Today.
Speaker 1 (04:35):

They'll have a job opening fair August sixteen from ten
am to two pm at the pro Bow Airport. Okay,
let's get into it. The NFL football season is back baby.
(07:08):
Three games on the slate last night. We got three
more games on the slate tonight. But those three games
from last night. The Baltimore Ravens beat the Indianapolis Coats
the defending chance. The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Cincinnati Bengals,
and then the Seattle Seahawks and the LA Raider Las
Vegas Raiders. See, I went through all three of their names.
Decided the tie last night? A tie in the preseason?
Speaker 6 (07:31):
What do we doing?
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Come on, we can't get one great win to finish
off the night. No, we gotta get twenty three to
twenty three? Who decided that preseason games can't.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Have it overtime? I want it overtime.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
Listen, and we're not gonna have the traditional overtime, at
least throwing the new college football overtime style with two
point conversions. I want to see a winner. These second
and third stringers are trying to earn an opportunity for
a job here. They're not trying to say, well, I
tied it in my first preseason game. No, I would
be embarrassed. I would never bring it up. I seriously
be like, how did your first preseason game go? Well,
(08:04):
you know, I just I went out there and had
a couple of good tackles, I caught a touchdown, and
moments like that, did you win the game? It was
a good game, That would be my response. It was
a good game. Okay, I want to win in my
first preseason game, not at tie. We'll talk more about
that later in the show. Also, let's talk about this
real quick here. In the first pitch, Utah Mammoth, they're
(08:26):
in a battle to talk to figure out whether their
name changed to Utah Mammoth is legit. There's apparently a
company out there, Mammoth Gear, who make bags for hockey players,
who are now challenging the fact that Utah mammoths name
and their name are too similar. Now, what my understanding
is that these two have also talked in the past,
(08:47):
because Mammoth Gear came out and said, you know what,
it's okay, it's a little similar as our name, but
we're gonna let this slide. You can let the Utah
Mammoth be called Utah Mammoth. They were okay with it
at the beginning. Now all of us sudden they're going, hey,
wait a minute, wait a minute, this isn't right.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
Come on, listen.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
If you're looking for more money, okay, I understand that
you're like, listen, a little bit more hush money and
then we'll go away and we'll just make our stuff.
But seriously, Utah Mammoth have already come out with the
jerseys the logo, the looks, the style, everything is already
in print. They're selling it in the stores. You can't
pull this card out of nowhere already. Come on, seriously,
(09:24):
give the Utah Mammoth a chance to just grow with
their new name. I love the Utah Mammoth name. It
grew on me as the weeks went on. Okay, I
was thinking to myself, man, mammoth, what does that have
to do with Utah? And and it's you know, experiencing
environment here in Salt Lake City. But as the weeks
have gone on, it grew on me. It realized that,
(09:45):
wait a minute, it doesn't have to be specifically about Utah.
It could just be something that makes Utah really cool.
And I looked at the logo and how it, you know,
intertwines with the mountains and the style and the colors.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
I was like, okay, I like that. I like that
very much.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Now all of a sudden, Mammoth Gear comes out of
nowhere saying, wait a minute, we're gonna call this out.
We need maybe some more hush money, we need maybe
some more you know, exposure to this, you know idea.
Maybe they're stealing their name, Like come on, let the
Utah Mammoth. Be okay, their logo is really cool, their
(10:23):
name is really cool.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
It has got a good ring to it.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
It looks good with the colors that it was part
of the Utah Hockey Club jerseys to begin with. I
always thought that jersey looked really cool in the state.
And the fact that they said Utah Hockey Club and
all that. I love that they took the Washington football
team route before they decided to pick a name. But
now it's time to just like the Washington Commanders now
these days, it's time to move on and just let
(10:48):
them have a name. Come on, this is such a
low blow move for the Utah Mammoth. They should just
go right to court and say, listen, these guys agreed beforehand.
Now they just want to say something about it. Now,
how much money do you need? We already got everything
in print. We're ready to go. We can't have any
more stalls. We can't go back to Utah Hockey Club.
(11:09):
We can't do that. Not Now this team is just
right now about to just explode in the state Like
this is just a bit of a low blow that
I think is uncalled for. I understand that they want
to say that their name brand and all that stuff,
and it's their right to do that, but I still
think that it's the wrong time to do this. You
could have done this before they decided to print everything.
(11:33):
Now you decide to do it afterwards because you might
be able to get more money because now that the
name is taken off and now the fan exposure of
it is completely exploded. Now you want to dig for more.
Come on, a little bit of a low blow there, Zach.
I mean seriously, they're gonna do this a month and
month before preseason and we have two.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
Months before the first hockey game.
Speaker 6 (11:55):
Yeah, It's it's insane.
Speaker 5 (11:56):
And I've read a little bit of this article by Belfraser,
our friend that comes on this program as well. It's
just it's one thing after another for the Mammoths. You
know obviously the YETI, the whole yetti thing, the whole
Mammoth thing.
Speaker 6 (12:08):
Now it's just gonna be interesting how this play out.
Speaker 5 (12:11):
And I know that fans are kind of upset because,
you know, we are sticking with the Mammoths, like it's
a great team name for the state, great jerseys and
we're going into a hockey city.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
Yeah, like we're growing into a hockey city. Let us
be Okay, listen, if there's one thing that I've seen
that Utah people, sorry, I gotta clear my throat there.
If there's one thing that I've seen with Utah people
that they've enjoyed over the last few years, it's less snow.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
I have lived in this state for the last seven
years and have lived in Salt Lake City for the
last two and a half years. It has snowed less
here than I've ever seen in my entire life. I'm
from Chicago. Okay, it snows twenty four to seven out there,
and it has snowed less in Chicago, then it has
snowed less out here in Salt Lake City. People enjoy
the fact that you don't have two feet of snow
outside the door. Let us enjoy the fact that we're
(13:02):
a little bit of a warm hockey weather now that
now that we don't have to dig ourselves out to
go watch a hockey game, we just get to drive
to go watch a hockey game. I don't have to
spend tired, I don't have to spend money on snow
tires anymore. Oh, thank God. Like seriously, we are just
getting better and better and better. Okay, let us be
all right. This is an uncalled for move by the
(13:23):
Mammoth Gear. Again, I still understand it their brand, their
brand name. They have the right to do this whatever
they want to. But they already agreed with the league,
in with the team, that this was okay for them
to call themselves a Utah Mammoth. This is the exact
same move that they were trying to pull with Yeti.
They were trying to talk to Yedi. They were trying
to tell them, how much money do you need, how
(13:44):
much of agreement do you need a sponsorship deal something
to allow us to call ourselves a Utah YETI and
I would have enjoyed that name, but the Yeti said no.
And then they went to Mammoth Gear, who was a
little smaller of a hockey league hockey merchandise person and
in giving out bags and gear and such like that,
and they said, okay, yeah, that's cool.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
Pay us a.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
Little bit of money, maybe we'll sponsor, maybe we'll do
some stuff in the future. Now, all of a sudden,
it's just come mine. Let the Utah man be who
they are. Man, this is just again a low blow
call for I don't agree with this, But then again,
that's how business goes.
Speaker 6 (14:23):
Man.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
All of a sudden, you never know when some's gonna
pull the rug right out from under you and say, hey,
wait a minute, you crossed the line.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
And I totally get it. Again, I do understand it.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
It is their business, but at the same time, I
wish they just didn't make this move. That's it, all right,
So we wrap up the first segment here on the
Brighton B and Nucy Show with Martin Kelly hosting it.
We got a lot more to talk about. On the
flip side, we're gonna talk about Utah football. They finally
gave us some sound. Finally we hear from Kyle Whittingham
(14:55):
and from some players. We're gonna react to what they
said and what it means for Utah football going ahead,
as their first game is coming up, they have a
loaded first game on the schedule. They have to go
to UCLA, they have to go to the Rose Bowl.
They have to go to a place they're zero in two. Okay,
they did not win the Rose Bowl and their two
opportunities they went there. Now they got to go back
(15:16):
to the place that they cannot win, to go play
a team that is a mid market team in the
Big Ten. We're gonna talk about all of that here
on the other side of this break right here on
the brice and be a NUCI ship. Oh sorry, and
as before we go, I apologize Zach, thank you for
bringing that up as I was about to end the segment.
There we gotta talk about another sponsor here, rubies In, Okay.
(15:37):
For your chance to win a trip to rubies In

Day vacation or a three day vacation or four day vacation.
Speaker 3 (16:04):

Speaker 3 (17:10):
The Welcome back to the Brison bia Ucci Show here
on ESPN one o three nine and ninety eight three
The Fan, of course, you guys are wondering. That's not Bryce,
that's not Jordan. That doesn't sound like either one of them.
Who is that? That's I am Martin Kelly, the executive
producer for The Down and Dirty with Scott Mitchell, hosting
(17:33):
every day from ten to eleven on ESPN seven hundred
and one to two. Here on ESPN the Fan every
day with Scott Mitchell, we have a blast.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
Today. I'm holding down.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
The Brison Banucci show well because Jordan and Bryce's need
a vacation. Man, I can't wait until my vacation. I'm
choosing it in October to go home in Chicago. Can't
wait for that. I got a couple more months to
work and then go on my own vacation. But the
guys are enjoying themselves. Let them have fun. And every
time I hear Katy Perry, man, I cannot stop thinking
about that Shark at the halftime show with the Seahawks
(18:03):
and the Patriots, just him doing his own type of
dance style in the background.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
Hilarious.
Speaker 3 (18:09):
But that song is right last Friday night, It's Friday morning.
Let's talk about that last Friday morning. Well, there was
nothing last Friday morning. Let's just talk off Friday because
it's a football Friday.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
Let's get into it.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
NFL on was the NFL games on last night, but
we'll cover that in the next segment here.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
But let's talk about Utah football. Now.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
I know what everybody's wondering. Wait a minute, Utah football.
Isn't this a BYU driven football radio station. Why are
you talking about the Utes? We want to talk about
the Cougars. We're gonna talk about that in the eight
o'clock hour. Don't worry about that. We're gonna listen BYU
football sound that was a few days ago, and we're
gonna talk to Ronald the three Man, the Weaver, Ronald
the Ronald Weaver, the third as I call him his
(18:48):
other nickname, but we're gonna have him on talk to
us about BYU football. BYU Photo Day was the couple
of days ago. We'll talk about that as well. So
we'll cover in all of that in the eight o'clock hours.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
So come back.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
But were the Utah football fans they're tuning in right now,
Let's talk about the US They had sound from yesterday.
We're gonna listen sound from coach Kyle Whittingham, Tobias Merriweather.
We also have Creed Whitmore and Hunter Andrews, the four
of the off three of the offensive players, two wide receivers,
a tight end, and of course coach Kyle Whittingham. But
(19:20):
before we dive into that sound, this is an important.
Speaker 6 (19:23):
Season for Utah.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
I'm gonna start off with it's like this because their
first game is a loaded game. Now people are probably
thinking themselves, UCLA is a very good football team, but what.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
Are they really that why are they really that scary?
Speaker 3 (19:37):
Well, they're kind of scary because they're protected to be
anywhere between a seven and eight win team in the
in the in the in the Big Ten. They're not
expected to be a front runner for the Big Ten title,
they're not expected to be a top tier team to
go play for the College Fotball playoffs. But they're not
gonna be a pushover team at all. And this is
a venue that Utah has struggled in their two games
(19:59):
going into to the Rose Bowl. Two Rose Bowl games
that Utah to themselves thought, well, you know what, if
the offense can do enough and the defense can hold
that other side of the offense, maybe, just maybe Utah's
got a chance to win the Rose Bowl, predominantly prestigious
football game that takes your program to the next level.
It is one of the most highest honorable games you
(20:21):
can win in college football.
Speaker 2 (20:23):
It is the Rose Brow. It's the grand daddy of
them all.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
Man Alan Jackson said it for a reason when he
covered that game on ABC for so many years. So
for the opportunity for Utah to go back to the
Rose Bowl venue itself, to go play Ucla in their
home game to start the season and win on the
road versus that team after they just got a top
tier transfer from Tennessee. Mind you, Djoglele, I mean not Djglele.
(20:50):
Help me out here, Zach Nigo Nigo Amlivia decided to
transfer from Tennessee to go to Ucla. This is a
big game, Okay. He is a former SEC football quarterback.
He took He was on the team that took down Alabama.
He was the backup. But he is still prominent enough
to be a legit quarterback. Now. He was a quarterback
(21:12):
that got his butt whooped in Columbus against the Ohio
State buck guys. But that is a different story for
a different day. He is still a very good quarterback.
This is going to be a test for Utah to
begin with with their defense and obviously their offense. Devin
Dan Pierre, Jason Beck a whole new offensive style for
Kyle Whitningham.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
Let's take. Let's take. Let's listen for a moment.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
Let's listen to what Kyle Whitningham had to say about
practice this week and much more on his team.
Speaker 8 (21:38):
Kyle, how would you assess kind of where your team's
at now with pads and kind of the last breakers.
Speaker 9 (21:43):
Yeah, I think we're in a good place. Today was
the first live work we've had. We had the opportunity
to fill here for the first day. You have to
put through the commonization area, so we got through that
and today it was a fifth time of day. We
had thirty fifty snaps, a lot of work and Sausa
ruga things by Shaun Parker. Really had some nice physical runs.
(22:03):
Uh knock Rogers as well.
Speaker 6 (22:05):
Uh.
Speaker 9 (22:06):
They able to move the first offense up and down
the field. So a lot of good stuff and and uh,
you know, got a long ways to go obviously, but
he's got nineteen more cracks and we hit it down
and then you line up with the how would you
prop the south to see between them, and I'd say
they've made big strides.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
Uh.
Speaker 9 (22:23):
Tobias Merriweather, he's really doing some good things. Tayshawn Lions
or not just ye On Lions, but Zipper Zipp is
doing some good things.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
W J. J.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
Bucham.
Speaker 9 (22:35):
He's not really a way wide receiver. He was playing
a lot of cut starting. He was really shoring up
and with him his maybe his presence none. So that's
been a big place for us to have your stuff
for a little bit of good quarterback around just now. Yeah,
that's uh really dead heat. Isaac is playing really well
and so it was good. We're going to continue that,
(22:56):
hopefully not for a lot longer, but it's not the
same urgency as if you were battling for QB one.
We know who QB one is that that is the
most important thing. But we're going to continue that QB
two battle at least through the screamings on Saturday and
maybe beyond depending on what happens. Less Preyers.
Speaker 5 (23:12):
Thanks back to the receiver. As you said, they were
the biggest question.
Speaker 9 (23:14):
You can't take less of a question mark less. So
we have, but still not a real two pecking order.
We're starting to get some some semblance of it with
some idea that we need to really see some extensive
live work on a Saturday to make a decision.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
Has there been any separation in the corners room opposite.
Speaker 9 (23:30):
Scooty, Well, we got three or four guys that are
right in the mix, and so I would say, you know,
it's down to three or four guys opposite Scooby, But
but you know it's going to be a battle for that.
We may end up playing, you know, my committee and
having rotation. We'll see how it goes. But it's very competitive,
and we've got three or four guys that were playing
(23:50):
at a very high level. It's not we're waiting for
someone to step up and play at that level. We
got three or four guys doing a really good job,
always just really separating themselves out.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
And so you said Jackson been he was really come
on the street.
Speaker 8 (24:01):
Help you push Smith outside a little bit more.
Speaker 9 (24:04):
Gives us that flexibility because Jackson is operating and the
nickel spotted out. But if you had to play them,
all would be Smith inside of the nickel. And but
Smith is getting a ton of work on the outside.
During these early stages of Fark Camp. Soon in case
we get to that in the problem do you sign
the tight end Jefferson's part betwenty twenty five class.
Speaker 6 (24:21):
Is there any chance he plays this year?
Speaker 9 (24:24):
Were we are still waiting on eligibility ruling, and so
if he is deemed eligible, that would depend when that happens,
you know, as far as how soon we can integrate
it into what we're doing. If it takes longer rather
than shorter than maybe looking a red shirt year. And
if he doesn't get eligible at all, then he's got
the option to either red shirt back home or his
(24:44):
junior college or plays junior college season. So still a
lot of what ifs on that. How are the young
defensive tackles really good?
Speaker 8 (24:51):
Really good?
Speaker 9 (24:51):
That's so those guys are stars of the future. We
got five of them and they're all lining up against
the ones and do a good job.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
All right.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
That's coach Kyle Whittingham talking about his team there with
the media, press and man. First, let me say, can
we get Kyle Whittingham in a very quiet, closed off space.
That's always the thing about with sound with me as always,
Why are they right next to the hitting bags as
they're in practice?
Speaker 2 (25:21):
I don't I don't understand that.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
I've heard other sound where it's completely quiet for other
coaches and players. I just I wonder if they could
just put Kyle Whitningham in a quiet place so we
can hear him speak clearly. I would love to hear
him speak clearly and fully and efficiently. I'm just saying anyway,
I'll get off of that topic there for a second.
Let's get back to the sound here. As as he
(25:44):
touched in the first part of that way, Shaun Parker
running back that's going to be having most of the
carriers this season. It is good to hear that him
and Devin dan Pier and Jason Beck, and this offense
is moving up and down the field. They're challenging this defense.
That is the main questions coming in to the season
with Utah football last year, obviously losing their starting quarterback
(26:04):
then having to go to Isaac Wilson because they just
didn't have the offensive quarterback to start the season. They
obviously had some good running backs last year. They obviously
had some good wide receivers. Singer was one of their
top wide receivers. Obviously we had he went to the
Denver Broncos. Caleb Loner, who was also a former BYU player.
(26:24):
It was really really solid with Utah last year. They
just it just didn't work out of the quarterback and
we had to throw Isaac Wilson in early and he
proved in the Oklahoma State game maybe just maybe he
figured out how to play college football.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
And then after that we all saw what happened.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
But the point is it is good to hear from
Kyle winhead say how confident he is in the offense.
They're moving up and down the field. They're challenging this defense,
they're making them work. It's not simply just the defense
dominating every single snap and rep. Yes, you want your
defense to show its toughness and its strength and not
been to the offense in practice. But we you have
(27:00):
your offense moving up and down the field, you have
an opportunity to see your team in an efficient manner.
That is exactly what you want to see as a
head coach. That's exactly what Utah want to see out
of their offense. They just want to see some consistency.
They don't care who the quarterback is. They just want
to see some consistency. Go after the first downs, don't
get yourself in the second down in long situations, then
(27:21):
have to dig yourself out of that and get yourself
in a third down and outside of a manageable If
Utah football can live within a third down and three
third down and two third down and four third down
and five, then Utah football can do something to get
the first down. It is a hard, hard, hard way
to live. You gotta go from third down and eight
(27:43):
they're down, and nine third down and seven third down
and six they're down and ten. Those are long yardage
amount of numbers you have to gain to get the
first down. They love the idea that Devin Dan Peter
gives them a flexible option at quarterback. He can scramble
outside of the pocket, he can stend the plays, he
can make things happen with his feet. Again, was Shaun
(28:04):
Parker becoming the top running back. He is gonna go
north and south, east and west. He is gonna really
really do some damage this season for the Utes. And
it's really really good. Now, another thing before we get
back to the sound here, we're gonna listen to some
of the wide receivers talk about their experience. But it
is a very good thing to hear from Kyle Winnham
and say, listen, the wide receiver room is starting to
become better and better. They do not have a legit,
(28:27):
top flight wide receiver on this team, but they have
a lot of really good guys. They have a lot
of guys that can be manageable, be guys that can
get the first down for you, Guys that can get
you in a third down two situation to get your
running game in a solid situation to get the first down. Okay,
offenses live off of what you're managing having to do
on third down. Okay, first down and second down are
(28:49):
all about getting to third down. If you can get
the first down before the third down, you're a really
good offense. But if you can go from first and
ten to six and seven to second down and seven
yards and then get go to third down and four yards,
you are an efficient offense. Now, to get back to
the sound here, let's listen to Merriweather and let's see
what he had to say.
Speaker 8 (29:09):
Right as you come in the spring transferport a period,
what's the acclimation period been like for you? And just
being able to kind of show you telling, Oh.
Speaker 10 (29:18):
Yeah, I think it's I mean before obviously, so I
think I'm kind of familiar with how it goes and
all the new stuff that get used to and offense
and stuff. The lead do a good jobs new stuff
and get me actimated and everyone is so welcome.
Speaker 6 (29:29):
Man, it's great to be here.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
What is the message to you? And they recruiting come
to you, saw this thing.
Speaker 6 (29:35):
Just come make a difference.
Speaker 10 (29:35):
That's really when they came out to make a difference
for us.
Speaker 6 (29:38):
Come be a threat for us.
Speaker 10 (29:39):
And uh, yeah, what is your different You've been like with.
Speaker 6 (29:41):
M and DM here. I think it's been good so far.
Speaker 10 (29:44):
We made a lot of you know, big plays on
the offense. We made some easy, consistent players, but we've
just been I think it's been good so far. You know,
if they're the first what five six days can What
are your.
Speaker 8 (29:52):
Thoughts on Jason Beck's offense and how you've been.
Speaker 6 (29:54):
Able to kind of with intu.
Speaker 10 (29:57):
Yeah, he runs a very like okay, weird out of offense.
The way they just do stuff is just not what's
the normal offense, especially in college.
Speaker 6 (30:05):
But I think it works great, especially.
Speaker 10 (30:06):
For new guys, and we're able to just help him
then quick get it down and run it.
Speaker 8 (30:10):
You've played it this level before, but what do you
hope that you get out of it this year knowing
that you know you've still got a lot of proof.
Speaker 10 (30:16):
Yeah, I think obviously my goal has always been since
I was young, you know, to build an NFL, and
that's still put the cases, and I think here's a
good place where I can do that.
Speaker 11 (30:23):
How comfortable are you with this Utah offense so far?
Speaker 10 (30:26):
I think very comforable. I think I've picked up pretty quickly.
You know, I feel like I have a good football brain,
so it's kind of come tacond nture to me. But
I think guys like already had done a good job
of helping me also get in use offense.
Speaker 9 (30:38):
How's your relationship with coach Mike said.
Speaker 6 (30:40):
I think it's great. He's a young guy and he's
really cool.
Speaker 10 (30:43):
I've had like all for some of the coaches, like
I've had older coaches, a younger coach, so I think
it's been cool.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
To have him.
Speaker 10 (30:47):
He's kind of like chill, but you will make sure we're.
Speaker 6 (30:50):
Coach as well. And he pulled the drill work.
Speaker 10 (30:51):
Too, you remember, I guess him other remembers of the
wide receiper but kind of looked to establish themselves the
number one year number.
Speaker 6 (31:00):
Yeah, I don't think really.
Speaker 10 (31:02):
I mean everyone goes exact in the back of their head,
but like really in the front of my brain is
not really you know, becoming number one, number two, number three,
whatever that is. It's just coming out being since every
day and we're about the.
Speaker 5 (31:10):
Process more than a result.
Speaker 11 (31:12):
How is someone like Ryan Davis, who who was a
part of this offense last year maybe helped you transition
into this.
Speaker 10 (31:17):
I mean critical, He's he's a leader in our room.
He comes to work every day and he does it
and then he told us what to do and you
can watch it and they'll ask you ask him questions,
and we're just going back and forth. I think both
of us are kind of on the older side of
college that we're both able to use our brains and
be able to see what we can do and how
to Nicoli different defense.
Speaker 8 (31:33):
How would you evaluate this run again or ey seper room, Like,
what do you think it is for now?
Speaker 10 (31:37):
I think top down, we have like every type of receiver.
We have older guys who are just like third down whatever, consistent,
guys download. We have guys that ticket deep, we have
guys that can do everything. We have younger guys or guys.
Everyone's getting the mix. So I think it's a good
mix of guys and we all come to work every day.
Speaker 9 (31:52):
Well, it's going to be the key for you this
season in terms of, you know, establishing yourself and taking
that next.
Speaker 6 (31:58):
Step in your game.
Speaker 10 (31:59):
I think, like I said, just worrying about the process,
not worrying about what happens on Sun Saturday's wappens have practice.
Just worried about the process every day, coming in, watching film,
making sure I know the players, mentioned know what I'm doing,
and just working on the process. Hope about Utah attract
U Yeah, I think just the like I said earlier,
just the ability to make a difference.
Speaker 6 (32:17):
That's really what I'm looking for.
Speaker 10 (32:18):
Just to be an offense that wants me to be
here and wants me to be featured.
Speaker 8 (32:22):
How much of you caught on to kind of the
mindset of this team didn't like what it was last year.
I know you were here last year, but how do
you kind of find into that year?
Speaker 6 (32:30):
I think it's it's easy.
Speaker 10 (32:31):
You know, I was on a team that didn't win
a lot of games last year, and I think nobody
likes to the Lewis, and I think coming with coach Witt,
he's a.
Speaker 6 (32:37):
He's a winner. Hey, that's why I love. I love winners.
Speaker 10 (32:39):
I love thee round winns because they make you better.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
All Right.
Speaker 3 (32:43):
That's uh, Tobias Merriweather there for you. The Utah wide receiver.
I love what he had to say at the beginning,
talking about how he doesn't want to be wide receiver one,
two or three. He just wants to be one of
the consistent guys to help this team's team's offense.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
I agree with him.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
One.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
He is a transfer. Obviously him at the very end
of that saying, hey, listen, I didn't win many games
last year. That's very true, Kyle. Unfortunately Cal football wasn't
very good last year. They lost all their running backs
in the transfer portal this year as well. So that
tells you how it went for Cal football last year.
And you know what, that's something that obviously beat Utah
(33:21):
was looking for in this transfer portal. They got to
transfer wide receivers. They got Obviously, we're gonna listen to
Creed went Moore here in a minute. He was a
transfer from Mississippi State. They got a transfer from Cal
out of Meriweather. So they went out and tried to
get veteranship type guys to come into this program. They
did it last year with Singer who came from USC
to go to Utah. It just didn't work out because
(33:42):
they just didn't have the quarterback. Singer was absolutely one
of the best wide receivers on the team. Last year,
you just didn't have a guy to get the football
to him. Now this year, you have Devin dan Pierre,
who lives off of his legs, who likes to try
to go out and you know, kind of play that
Lamar Jackson style offense. You know, improvise and run around
the field a little bit. But it'll be better. It
(34:04):
will one be better. I love the fact that he
said there's guys in that wide receiver room that have
been there before, trying to help these guys get caught
up and get ready one percent something you want to
see from the guys that aren't going to be top
wide receivers for his team. But hey, listen, they know
the style, they know the program, they know the way
(34:24):
that they want to play, and that's one hundred percent
something you want to hear from Meriweather talk about. Hey, listen,
I've been nothing but humble since I got here, and
the guys have been nothing but humble to me.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
It's one hundred percent something you want to hear from him.
Speaker 3 (34:36):
I cannot wait to see what he does on the
field for Utah this season. It is one percent really
good to hear him say that he is ready, he's
ready to step up. He does not care if he's
a wide receiver one, two, or three. He knows there's
a lot of guys in that wide receiver room that
can do a whole bunch of things. Be third down specialist,
guys that can take the field down the that be
the deep ball type wide receivers, the guys that are
(34:57):
consistent through the middle of the field, and guys that
can the sidelines. That's exactly what you want from your
wide receiver room, especially with a new offense and a
new quarterback. You don't want guys going out there doing
their own thing. You want guys out there to help
out the offense and in a really good way. Very
good to hear from him. Let's hear from Creedwood Moore
to transfer from Mississippi State.
Speaker 11 (35:17):
Fred hasn't been out though it's been hot, but it's
been fun. We got two new guys Larry and and
Tobias who you all just talked to. And you can't
just have a couple of guys in the Big twelve
see or Big ten, you know. Uh, so you got
to have multiple dudes and it came in and made
some plays for it.
Speaker 5 (35:35):
So it's fun.
Speaker 11 (35:37):
You know.
Speaker 5 (35:37):
We got a good.
Speaker 6 (35:37):
Group of guys and we're rotating.
Speaker 5 (35:39):
And everybody's freed.
Speaker 8 (35:41):
When you look at this room, I mean, what do
you what do you feel like you guys have you
feel like you guys have what it takes to compete
in the big self issue one.
Speaker 5 (35:47):
I feel like we got smarts.
Speaker 11 (35:50):
As well as talent.
Speaker 5 (35:52):
It's not just talent, you know.
Speaker 11 (35:53):
I've been on teams that have had some really talented
players and we haven't been able to get it done.
So you got to know what you know, what to
do and nowhere to go and then make the play.
You know, it's not just about making the play, It's
about knowing what to do first. So we have a
lot of smart people.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
You hear the spring, how does the offense progressed from
spring to fall?
Speaker 9 (36:11):
That's whether the big.
Speaker 6 (36:11):
Differences that you've seen.
Speaker 11 (36:13):
Yeah, I think Dev's more comfortable. You know, it was
his offense, so everybody thought he would be, you know,
just clicking on all cylinders. But you know, it's a
it's a new room. You know, he's not going the
same guys. He's had the same guys in front of him,
so he seems more comfortable. And you know, as a
receiver group, we've we've been on.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
To learn it.
Speaker 11 (36:30):
We're not overthinking plays and you know, you just go
out there and play. It's not like you're going out
there thinking about the route. You know, you can just
think about executing the play.
Speaker 5 (36:38):
So, how do you feel like you've been into this
receiver role or what's kind of your role?
Speaker 11 (36:44):
Yeah, you know you think about that a lot, but
out here in fall camp, you thinking about just making
the play.
Speaker 5 (36:50):
That comes to you.
Speaker 11 (36:52):
You know, don't think about your role specifically. Just when
the ball comes, make the play, whether that's.
Speaker 2 (36:58):
Ten times, two times, twenty times.
Speaker 6 (37:00):
Make the play.
Speaker 8 (37:01):
You know.
Speaker 11 (37:01):
So that's that's what's on my mind. And I'm not
necessarily thinking about how many targets, just making the play
when I when I do get the chance.
Speaker 8 (37:07):
What were what were the off season workouts like for
you guys with Devin like, how did that all go
and kind of what were your thoughts?
Speaker 11 (37:13):
Love, Yeah, off season is tough, but the tougher it is,
the closer you get. So I think we went through
some tough things, but as you can tell, it made
us closer. So we're a tight knit group and that
shows on the field when he gets into one quarter.
Speaker 2 (37:29):
All right, there's Creed with more for you. The Utah
wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (37:32):
Again, really good positive things for him to talk about,
how him and Devin and Peter are trying to get
on the same page, all the experience that he brings
from Mississippi State over to this, the fact that he
got here in spring. Obviously Meriweather didn't get here until
this summer, so Mary Weather's got a little bit of
catching up to versus Whitmore. Whitmore has already been here
for a session. He already was with Devin Dan Pier
(37:55):
in the spring. They got their springing practice in. So
that's a really good thing that he's already got a
confident wide receiver he trusts okay out there. As a quarterback,
you need a wide receiver to trust in tight situations,
a second down in the sixth type of situations, a
second down in five type situations, a third down and
four type situation, a third down in three type situation,
or a third down in five type situation. Those marginal
(38:16):
numbers that will get you the first down to continue
a drive are so important, and for a quarterback, it's
so important to trust with that wide receiver that you
know you can go to in those type of situations
because that just helps the offense grow so much more
and get them into better situations and scoring positions and
just keep a drive alive. Him talking about his experience
(38:36):
again bringing that over him talking about all the struggles
that they did go through spring, and they fix some
of that and they tweak some of that, and they're
now really really on the same page going into the summer,
into the fall camp and getting ready for their first
game against the UCLA. It is one percent a confident
thing right now that we're hearing from these wide receivers,
and again Kyle Witningham mentioning it in his SoundBite earlier
(38:57):
as we started the segment, he is trusting that wide
receiver room more and more. Every day. They know what
they're doing up at the hill. They're just taking it
day by day. Baby Steps are not gonna try to
force this like they did last season. Last season, they
try to force it and it just didn't work for them.
This year, baby Steps is taking this time. They're trying
to go out there and trying to find out what
(39:17):
their type of rhythm is. And that's so very much important,
especially in early fall practices, because if you get that
rhythm early in practice, then the next two weeks in
practice are just gonna be a fly by. You're gonna
hit every single rep, every single step, every single marker,
every single possession will be better and better and better. Obviously,
there will be some days where the offense might not
come completely ready, but you're not gonna have to take
(39:40):
so many steps back because you know in your head,
as Kyle Whitningham said, he knows in his head that
he's gonna he can ease some of the pressure off
that wide receiver room and allow them to just go
out there and just be themselves. That is one hundred
percent something you want to hear from your coach and
from your players, knowing that the pressure is being taken
off of them a little bit and they can just
(40:00):
go out there and make the plays that they need again,
that's really good to hear from win More, let's hear
from the last player, Hunter Andrew the Swiss Army Knife
tight end.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
Let's see what he had to say.
Speaker 8 (40:10):
Or have you embraced this role this year maybe as
opposed to last year kind of where you were going.
Speaker 4 (40:14):
At It's just been a lot of fun this year.
I just like doing over. The coach is telling me,
I'm trying to help out wherever I can. You're you've
been knocked about it's being used.
Speaker 8 (40:22):
It's kind of almost like a Swiss Army Knights, kind
of like the utility guy. Do you do you feel
like you can thrive in that role or kind of
what are you most excited about that?
Speaker 2 (40:29):
Yes, I love that role.
Speaker 4 (40:30):
I love to help out however I can, and playing
most positions are really fun.
Speaker 6 (40:34):
Great experience. So you've been working with seven. You know
what makes him a unique quarterback?
Speaker 2 (40:42):
Something the table?
Speaker 4 (40:44):
Well, he can just make plays even if there's nothing there.
He can scramble and it's ten plays and he's a
dynamic player.
Speaker 12 (40:49):
You mentioned why he were playing multiple positions. He played
offense in high school. They tried you on defense here
at one point. To move back on offense. How much
is that it's changing those positions as drastically as you
have have helped you because we're in.
Speaker 6 (41:01):
A tight end. Oh for sure.
Speaker 4 (41:03):
Playing defense held me out a lot because I can
it tells me, like what the defensive snak.
Speaker 5 (41:06):
And I know what they're thinking.
Speaker 4 (41:07):
I like know like what players they're running.
Speaker 2 (41:10):
Just helps me out a lot.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
So where do.
Speaker 9 (41:12):
You see or feel the most now springing?
Speaker 4 (41:16):
Yeah, say in my head, my hand down a lot
better where I part from the defense.
Speaker 5 (41:22):
I try to work on it a lot.
Speaker 6 (41:23):
Say those biggest imprtment.
Speaker 9 (41:26):
On a similar how would you say the offense as
a whole to progressed from spring to now.
Speaker 4 (41:31):
We have a wide variety of playmakers on our team.
We just get the ball to every one. We have
a big old playbook. So well, we'll be thriving this series.
Speaker 5 (41:39):
Is there any of these new guys that have maybe
surprised you?
Speaker 8 (41:41):
It kind of have time until they could.
Speaker 4 (41:42):
Be here on the offense, j J A tight end.
Speaker 11 (41:45):
My little brother.
Speaker 4 (41:46):
Actually he's been a dog.
Speaker 5 (41:47):
He can making a lot of players.
Speaker 2 (41:48):
Volcan All right, that's Hunter Andrew.
Speaker 3 (41:51):
Therefore, you James Peterson with one of the main questions
I like the lot in that segment right there. How
much of a difference has it gone from being an
offensive play to a defensive player to back being an
offensive player. You obviously heard Hunter say, listen, I love
being that Swiss army knife, the guy that can help
out at any position that they need me to help add. Obviously,
it's tight end, considering they lost kdeb Loner last year,
(42:14):
so they have to try to find those guys on
their roster that maybe didn't play tight end. Obviously, he said, JJ,
who's an undergrad who's coming in trying to learn that
tight end position with the Utah offense is gonna get
a lot better. We'll see what he does later in
the season, but obviously Hunter andrews one of their main
guys at the tight end spot. It's really good to
hear him say, listen, I studied on the defensive side.
(42:35):
I know what they're doing, I know what they're trying
to do against me. I'm gonna go out there and
try to challenge them the same way. That's exactly what
you want to hear from your starting tight end. That's
exactly what you want to hear from any tight end
that you know. He took every lesson he had on
the other side of the ball and brought it back
to the other side of the ball that he wants
to be on. Being that he's on the same page
with Devin Dan Peter. He got all the practices in spring.
(42:55):
Now he's got all the practices in the fall camp
getting ready for the game against UCLA. This is going
to be a very important position for Utah football. And
obviously everyone's going to talk about the wide receiver room
because of the depth and the question marks that are
coming into the season, But I think the tight end
room is just as important because again, you need as
a quarterback to have those consistent wide receivers and those
(43:16):
players on the offensive side of the ball to get
those second and third down manageable plays done. Otherwise your
offense is dead because if you can't go from first
and ten, second down and seven to third down and four,
like I said earlier, you're gonna struggle as an offense. Okay,
you need those type of players out there on that field.
They are going to help you manage the drive and
(43:38):
just give you those consistent plays. Those are so very important,
and right now it sounds like the room the wide
receiver room, the tight end room. Understand that, and now
that they have to actually step onto the field for
fall camp and realize, hey, listen, we need to hit
it into overdrive. We need to get ready fast again.
If you can make some of those little mistakes early
(44:00):
in fall practice and then get them out of the
way and then get consistently good before the end of
fall practice, you're gonna be really really good by the
time UCLA comes up on the schedule. Okay, So again,
it's really good to hear from Hunter Andrews say that
he loves being the Swiss Army knife, being the guy
out there is gonna help on the run and on
the pass and just be a solid player and a solid,
(44:23):
solid teammate. That is one hundred percent something you want
to hear about that all right, after all that sound
that was really really.
Speaker 2 (44:28):
Cool to hear.
Speaker 3 (44:29):
It was really good to hear about what they had
to say up on the hill. The Utah Utes again
are gonna take out a UCLA August thirtieth. It is
coming right around the corner. You can I cannot wait.
The football season is here. Let's take a break one comeback.
We're gonna talk about the other league Okay. At the NFL,
they had three preseason games last night. We'll talk about
those and recap those, and then talk about the three
(44:51):
games tonight and the rest of the games that are
coming up later in the weekend. All of that and
much more on a Bryson Being Nucci Show with Martin
Kelly hostsen on ESPN one of the ninety eight three.
Speaker 1 (45:04):

were held down the show yesterday. Bryce was holding down
the show most of this week. But it's my turn
to take over the hosting jobs. It is real one
percent fund to be in this seat today hosting the
Bryson Being Nucci Show. Obviously, the NFL Blitz let's talk
(45:51):
about it here, but let's also talk about the sponsor
for this segment as well as brought to you by
the Advocates. If you were injured in an auto or
motorcycle accident that wasn't your fault, called aight oh one

hundred percent to do that. I am from a family
(46:12):
that at My grandmother is a nurse and my grandfather
is a defense attorney. Believe me, they have told me
stories about car and motorcycle accidents. So check out the
advocates again, aight oh one three five.
Speaker 2 (46:23):
Five fifty five fifty.
Speaker 3 (46:25):
Check them out at their locations Utah avagas dot com
to get yourself a quote and to figure out whether
you deserve an advocate. They're the sponsors of the NFL
Blitz segment here. Let's talk about it. The NFL was
on last night, three NFL games on the slate. Yesterday,
the Baltimore Ravens took on the Indianapolis Coats, the Philadelphia
Eagles took on somebody as I try to get the schedule.
(46:49):
Cincinnati Bengals last night, thank you, Zach. And then obviously
the Seattle Seahawks and the Las Vegas Raiders were on
last night, Zach. Let me bring you in for this
segment here. Let's have some fun with this. The first
game Baltimore Ravens Indianapolis coach. Let's talk about the first
play that I saw in the highlight package. Anthony Richardson,
guy lit up yesterday. Okay, he got rocked and had
(47:11):
to leave the game with a pinky injury. He has
come out, the Colts have come out and said it's
just a dislocated pinky.
Speaker 2 (47:16):
He'll be fine a couple of weeks. He'll have something
taped up.
Speaker 3 (47:19):
You know something about that was Is it a dislocated
finger on your hand over there or did you break
a finger? Because I broke a finger before too. It hurts, man,
It seriously hurts.
Speaker 5 (47:28):
I have a sprained I've dislocated fingers. I dissocated my
pinky during high school when I played football. But I
actually have stitches in my interflame tool joint, so I
can't really bend my finger.
Speaker 6 (47:38):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (47:39):
Yeah, that sucks for Richardson, especially in a in a
battle for QB one with Daniel Jones. Daniel Jones ended
up playing the rest of this that half, and then
Anthony ri Jon obviously took it off the field because
of his dislocated pinky. That's just a big loss on
him because that has implications on the QB one job.
Speaker 3 (47:56):
Yeah, it does. And you know, obviously Daniel Jones took
the rest of us. He looked pretty good. I won't
lie about that. He didn't look totally lost, But then again,
you had the second and third stringers coming in most
of the game they took over.
Speaker 2 (48:10):
But nonetheless, it was good to see him.
Speaker 3 (48:13):
Unfortunate for Anthony Richardson. We'll see if he's ready for
next week's preseason game. Hopefully he's ready for the start
of the season. Daniel Jones was someone who was projected
to take over that job. We'll see what happens. Baltimore Ravens,
they did not send out their starters last night. They
had most of their backups played, but that didn't stop
their back hus for having explosive plays yesterday. Okay, their
second stringers put on a show yesterday and especially this
(48:36):
punt return. Let's listen to it and we'll talk about
it more.
Speaker 13 (48:38):
Fester Lester had a seventeen yard return of this first
try field, this one cleanly. Yeah, and again he's getting
alley one strat the thirty two nine depat.
Speaker 3 (48:51):
Western Cookie, He's gone Peel rode down the rookie six
crown track.
Speaker 2 (48:56):
Pep, We'll take it.
Speaker 1 (48:57):
To the house.
Speaker 2 (48:59):
Love John too, Wester. Eighty seven guys that ain't the.
Speaker 13 (49:03):
White Sister Ravens crowned the preseason offer.
Speaker 2 (49:06):
It's right you heard.
Speaker 3 (49:07):
Lejonte Western, the sixth round pick out of Colorado who
played with the Buffs last.
Speaker 2 (49:13):
Season, had himself an eighty seven.
Speaker 3 (49:14):
Yard punt return last night to explosively make himself a
noticeable player and say, hey, I deserve a spot on
this roster. All right, I can be a specialist returning
as for this team. I can make an explosive play
happen when I needed to. One one percent of fun
thing to see last night. Out of that team last
out of the Baltimore Ravens. Again, they didn't play many
(49:35):
of their starters, their defense still looked good with their backups. Again,
lea Jontey Western with the exposive play last night.
Speaker 2 (49:42):
Fun game.
Speaker 3 (49:43):
We'll see what happens with these two teams going on
for the rest of the preseason.
Speaker 2 (49:46):
But right now, Baltimore looks good. Indianapolis has a question
of quarterback.
Speaker 3 (49:50):
All right, let's touch on the Philadelphia Eagles in Cincinnati
Bengals last night. The Eagles, they played all their second
and third stringers. McKay, the starting quarterback, had himself a
touch push in the game yesterday. It was not as
pretty as Jalen Hurts, that's one hundred percent for sure.
It was not pretty at all whatsoever, but it was
still an efficient touch push. The Cincinnati Bengals, they played
(50:11):
their starters last night. Jamar Chase and Joe Burrow were
out there. They looked good. Joe Burrow looked confident in
that offense. Obviously we expect that from the Bengals, and
of course Jamar Chase with a touchdown reception last night,
one hundred percent something you want to see how Jamar Chase.
It looked good, it felt good. But that defense man
that looks like a bottom tier defense. There's not a
(50:31):
question one hundred percent about it. Zach, What what do
we keep talking about with the Bengals bro great offense,
bad defense. It looked like you last night, didn't it.
Speaker 5 (50:41):
Yeah, a little bit, and uh tat I caught highlights
of this game because I couldn't access this game last night.
But yeah, the defense defense is looking a little out
of whack a little bit here.
Speaker 6 (50:51):
And we've seen that before.
Speaker 5 (50:53):
You know, Bengals starting zhing to last year owing to
the season before, and obviously I'm they're trying to avoid
that this year, but that also becomes part of that
defense of holding down the offense. You know, offense scores,
defense gets you stops. You can't let offenses score. But
one thing I did like about this game is that
(51:13):
Zach Taylor made the decision to play Joe Burrow and
Jamar Chase. I think that's smart, especially when you're coming
up Week one, you have a divisional game, So I
think that's smart of Zach Taylor to play starts for
a couple drives.
Speaker 2 (51:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (51:26):
Off only Zach Taylor had an ability to get that
defense on the same page as his offense, the Bengals
would be Super Bowl contenders. I mean, that's just the
truth about him. Unfortunately, that defense is still what he
was last year, just with Trey Hendrickson and now their
first round pick, who are solid guys up front.
Speaker 2 (51:42):
We'll see what happens with that.
Speaker 3 (51:43):
And lastly, the Seattle Seahawks and the Las Vegas Raiders
a tie football game? Are you serious? In preseason? We
got a tie already? Come on this what is this? NFL?
Listen again? They played all their second and third stringers.
We saw Jalen Milroll last night played for the Seattle Seahawks.
Speaker 2 (52:01):
He didn't look too bad.
Speaker 3 (52:02):
He didn't get too many chances to throw a whole bunch,
but he didn't look too bad either. We saw some
good things from the Raiders as well. They didn't play
any other starters. We did not see gent T last
night at all. But that's just how al you expected
with starters. You don't expect them to go out there
play immediately in the preseason game. We'll expect to see
them in the third preseason game, just not off the
(52:23):
first preseason game. But overall, to end this segment, zach as,
I invite you on one more time.
Speaker 2 (52:29):
A tie. We got a tie in the NFL at
a preseason game? Are you serious?
Speaker 11 (52:34):
Like?
Speaker 2 (52:34):
Come on?
Speaker 3 (52:35):
Set up the college football rules. Make these teams go
out and run two point conversion plays like these second
and third stringers need all the reps they can get. Man, Like,
come on, NFL, just do that, all right. We don't
need a tie in the preseason, No.
Speaker 5 (52:49):
We really don't.
Speaker 6 (52:50):
And it didn't even go to overtime first of all,
which I think.
Speaker 5 (52:54):
Is a really really weird rule that preseason games do
not go into overtime and it just ends in a tie.
Speaker 6 (53:01):
I don't like it at all.
Speaker 5 (53:03):
And yeah, I mean you want, you definitely want to
get the most out of it you can, because we
have you have third stringers, you've got four stringers, you
got fifth stringers. We have seen so many of these
like no name guys make the roster. Julia McLoughlin, for example,
who's now one of the like dual headed running backs
for the Denver bron because right now or someone there's
(53:25):
just that unexpected person. Philip Lindsay, for example, undrafted started
running back back to back a thousand yard rushing seasons.
You can't you can't complain with that and not giving
that opportunity it hurts you in the long run. And
we and Jimm Milroe did not get a lot of
action Yeah, he looked pretty good six or ten, but
(53:45):
you want more out of him because there's definitely a
position battle for that number two spot in Vegas and
in Seattle.
Speaker 3 (53:51):
At one agree with that? All right, let's take a
break here. One come back, we're gonna talk about the NBA.
Now you're wondering yourself, what in the NBA can we
be talking about. We're gonna talk about the Luca Doncis
has signed his contract extension. Lebron James has opted into
his contract. Is Luca now the great young star to
take the Lakers to the next level? And why was
it not Anthony Davis prior to Luga coming to LA.
(54:13):
We're gonna talk about all of that here on the
other side of a break here on ESPN one, O, three,
nine and ninety three. The fan right here on the
Bryson b and Ucci Show will be
