Speaker 1 (00:00):
A success in life coman what is it you want?
Give your best effort, show me what you got. If
you want to be a success, you've gotta have.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
It's the Burt Fathyany Coaches Shoe presented by Kobe and
Shepherd Reelders and First Community Mortgage, a competitive combo championship
results and here's your host. Jeff Seedle and moor Head
football coach Burt.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Pathyany, w MOE and the Molar Broadcasting Network present The
Burt Bathyani Show, which features the head coach of the
Moeler Fighting Crusaders, Bert Pathyani. The show is sponsored by
Kobe and Shepherd Reeltors and I'm Jeff Schneiedel class of
nineteen eighty four also with Koby and Shepherd Reeltors, and

(00:45):
it's always great to catch up with the head coach
of the Crusaders. That's Bert Bathyany.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Coach. How are we doing today? Doing well? We're in
the middle of GCL play, We're halfway.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
We're halfway through the regular season. That seems kind of
hard to believe it is with that, but I think
I've mentioned it before.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
One of the things I do like.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
About our schedule as tough as it is. We get
three g CL matchups right in a row. They're not
they're not one here, one later. Las Allen Elder, I
think play the last game of the year. It kind
of not that you lose focus on it, but we
can keep a real good focus on going through two
weeks of the g CL, that being three games.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Yeah, I mean we try to keep every game the same,
but it's still conference play no matter what. Like wherever
you're at, whatever conference you're in, there's a heightened level
of you know, you know, alertedness when it's GCL right
like conference opponent. So like you said, I'm glad that
we have them all right.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Through in a row. So you just maintain that edge
the entire time coaching.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
It's always good to obviously first game the g CL,
to to get out in front one and oh, because
you know it's always hard to play catch up. Is
in a very limited league play.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Yep, yep, no doubt.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
So I mean you take uh, I mean go one
to know every week as I to see the goal
and we got a little bit back on track then
you know the week before, so hopefully we got momentum
and confidence and everything, and we just keep focusing ourselves
and keep pushing this thing forward.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Coach, no pressure with this statement. But I like to
say we're halfway through the regular season, but we're not
yet a third of the way through our entire.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Season, is the way I like to say it now.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
So we'll see what the future holds. But team wise,
everybody holding up.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
Okay, yeah, they're healthy, a lot of positivity, a lot
of juice, a great week of practice. So last week
we said, hey, you got punched in the mouth, and
you know you're going to be judging how you responding
get punched in the mouth, and I thought our kids
were responded the right way and exactly how we expected.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Coaches that help a little bit with the focus maybe
just coming off of that, I mean, you know, even
if we had won that game, you know, maybe the
focus isn't the same because hey, we you know, we
can win, no big deal, but kind.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
Of get a little setback and maybe just I just
I think failure is good in life, and and like
your sins get you know, get shown. From that standpoint,
you're more aware of them, and so you can kind
of recalibrate and go back to the things that you
need to work on. And go back to the fundamentals
and just just focus on getting better from that standpoint,
So getting punching them out, there's nothing wrong with that

(03:16):
to me. It's all about the response and how you
handle that adversity, which you know, that's a microcosm for
life and them. So what our guys are going to
go through later on after Molar absolutely so.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Well, well, we'll keep the task at hand and talk
about football. But we'll take our first break and we're
gonna come back and talk about that first GCL game.
It's the Saint Xavior Bombers. As you're listening to the

the Molar Crusaders. Bert bathy Anny Show is sponsored by

(04:58):
Comy and Shepherd Realtors and heard here on w MOE
and the Molar Broadcasting Network. I'm Jeff Schneidel, class of
nineteen eighty four and here with the head coach, Bert
Bathiani of the Crusaders and coach, we get to go
over to North Bend Road, play the Blue Team, get
to play the Bombers. A lot of emotion, a lot
of excitement, a lot of crowd, a lot of gold

(05:20):
in the stands.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
That was a pretty cool site, wasn't it. That was awesome.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
It was really good job by our student section and
you know, the yellming getting those guys going like that
was a really cool sight to see. I thought Moler
represented really really well and what a great night just
for the GC in general. I mean, that's that's why
you go to these schools and playing these games for
those moments.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
A really cool night for everyone involved.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
And you know when kids always look back years down
the road, they always refer to those GC all games. Yea,
you know those are those are always the key ones.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
The amount of text messages I got from alums that
have come across I mean I get a text from
you know, I won't say their names, but guys that
are like in the college football world and they're texting like, hey,
like I hate these guys, like we got to went
like you know, its just that that feeling never goes
away and and.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
It pretty out makes special people sometimes.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
But but that's why, I mean, that's why you love it, right, Like,
that's what makes rivalry games special, is like there's an
emotional charge to it as well, and it just means
more so.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Coach, we start the game, and I will mention Alex
Sherman start eight kickoffs and put six in the end zone.
How good is that to know? I mean from the
defense that they're hey, they started the twenty. I mean,
you might want to always have them start at the
fifteen or the seventeen, but they're not starting at the
thirty or thirty five. You get to keep them, uh
kind of pinned back in their area.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
Just well.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
Well, last year we were very fortunate in having phenomenal
specialists with Devon or Ethan Page. I mean we had
a ton of great guys and then and then Andy
Clemens and then Henry buss Meyer.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
They were they were phenomenal. And then now you.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
Go to this year and you got guys competing, right,
So we've had four different kickers earned Special Forces of
the Week within our team, right, which is pretty cool. Right,
Like from that standpoint, you had James earn it week
one against Princeton, and then you had Patrick earn it
the next week against Bishop Doinger, and then this past

(07:22):
week we actually gave it to Sherman and Jack Malibar, Right,
So all four specialists have earned Special Forces Player of
the Week. So to your point, having Sherman be able
to have six touchbacks out of eight and keep it
out of.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
Volmer's hands, that's a big deal.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
And then Jack Malibar making all his extra points and
then making a critical field goal to make it an
eight point game. That definitely puts more pressure on the
other team and change their thought process going down the phone.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
The Special Forces, Roman Mason with the holds have been good,
very good. Don't notice it seems like the snaps from
Nelson and Crumb yep for extra points and field goals
and punts have been spot on. So that's you know,
from a broadcasting standpoint, when you don't really mention their names,
that's a good thing because sometimes if they yeah, you
got to call out the.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
Mistakes, and we haven't had to do that.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
And I'm glad you brought those names up because they
kind of fly under the radar until something goes wrong.
But like Charlie Nelson and his short snaps has been
awesome and he has worked tirelessly in the off season
to earn a chance to play. He does an awesome
job in practice. I love that kid to death. Clayton
Crumb on his long snaps, he's been doing a great
job and you see his effort down the field when

(08:30):
he snaps the ball and he gets down the field
that he is the definition of four to six eight
to be in that moment. So they're really proud of him.
And then Roman Mace. What can you not say about him?
I joke around and say his nickname is Slash, but
he's our Swiss army knife. If there's a job that
we need someone, it's Roman.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
Yeah, and you know he's going to do a good
job because we have that much trust. He's coming on
defense now, he goes everywhere. I mean, he can really
do it all. He can't. So proud of him. He's
kind of like the guy in Colorado who's playing offense.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
Yeah that you know, that's a lot to ask though,
but that is sometimes I have to shake my I'm like,
wait a second, is that really fourteen back there in
the heck?

Speaker 4 (09:08):
I mean he plays point guard for one of the
best basketball teams in the state of Ohio, right Like,
so yeah, he can handle it. There's no doubt, right,
Like you see like how condition our basketball team is, right, Like, yeah,
Rowan can handle it.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
Well, just back to that point, I mean, we're very
blessed having good multiple good long snappers, multiple good kickers
that because when you don't have that, man, that seems
like that becomes a.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
Very stressful situation.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
Yes, and it's just like everything you know, everything is
just a copasetic with it with that, so that's all good.
So coach, we put the ball in the end zone
to start, and then fifteen seconds into the game, we're
down seven to nothing, and it's like, I'm like doing
the broadcast, but in my mind, I'm going like, oh, brother,
this is gonna be interesting.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
So I think everyone probably thought that to a certain
extent because the strength of our defense is definitely our
front seven. We're really proud about, like how we stopped
the run and obviously they got one of us. And
give Herbstreet a lot of credit. That kid's a wird
and he's a good football player. He's a really good
football player, and you know he got a crease and
he took advantage of it. But then give our team

(10:15):
credit to not flinch. So there was zero flinch on
the sideline, nothing at all. I mean, you just get
ready to go and you look at Matt and the eyes,
you look at our offense, and the I was like,
all right, here we go. They went out into their
business and then defense didn't flinch at all. They went
back out and we got a lot of stops in
that first half to help with that lead. But there
was no flinch from our football team whatsoever.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
Coach we you know, obviously the Bombers got off to
a fast start, but after that, we.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
Got off to a faster start.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
I mean, you know, putting twenty eight points on the
board in the first quarter, I mean that was almost like, Wow,
this is this is I mean, I hate to say it,
I thought we might put eighty points on him at
the rate we were going. That was just an incredible show.
Even are a better response at how it started.

Speaker 4 (11:03):
Yeah, I mean, it's twenty eight to seven and the
first quarter ends, and in my head, the only thing
I think I'm thinking of is there's a lot of
time left because you know, the opponent that you're going against,
right like, they're not gonna flinch. And they responded exactly
how I would expect our team to respond in that moment.
And they have a really good defense. They have a

(11:24):
really good football team. So in the back of my mind,
the back of all of our coaches mind, it was
more like, hey, we can't relax. We got to put
our foot on the ball now, Like, we can't slow
down because they will keep fighting. And against a team
like that, you have to you just have to take
away all hope. You can't let them hang around, and
that's kind of what we did. I think you just naturally,

(11:44):
you know, they relaxed a little bit, and then they
got one score and then we had some blenders on
special forces and then that led to some more points.
But to me, the key, the key point in the
game was they had a turnover on defense, we scored
a touchdown. We had a turnover on forces or defense
topped them.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
So we always say, if you hold a team to
a field goal in the red zone, the defense wins
by one, right, you win by one, and then we
scored a touchdown the red zone, so you count that.
That's eight points. We win by eight, right. So when
you look at analytically, it's like, hey, there's the proof
in the pointing of why we put so much emphasis
on red zone offense, red zone defense. And that, to me,

(12:24):
that was the key in the game.

Speaker 3 (12:26):
And coach it was, you know, we're up twenty eight
to seven. Things are going great, and then they rattle
off seventeen points all of a sudden, it's like twenty
eight twenty four.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
Interesting kind of well, they tied it. It was twenty eight
twenty eight.

Speaker 4 (12:36):
There was a penalty right right, you know, so think
about it from that standpoint how big that field goal was.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
And then the biggest thing that happened. We did this
I think against Princeton.

Speaker 4 (12:45):
As well, where we scored before half, get the ball back,
and we scored right after half fourteen points win. And
and you can do that in a rivalry football game.
I mean, that's that's going to put you in a
good position to win, no doubt the score. And what
a play by jove On.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
I mean twenty one yard passed, but he caught it
what about seven or eight yards pass the line of
scrimmage and shook two defenders off and spun his way
into the end zone.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
So that's classic Javon, right.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
Yeah, I mean that was but that was huge because
it not that it gives you that security, but it
you know, you're up now by eleven at half and
getting the ball back. And then we responded with that
and kind of the game goes back and forth. You know,
the Bombers again they're not giving up, and then you
know they're they're clawing their way, they're trying to get
things to happen. They get the ball down, we get

(13:34):
the ball down a one yard line. I think we
had a penalty it put it to the half yard line.
I mean, we're backed up, and they give them a
lot of credit to It was fourth and four.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
They put Volmer back at quarterbacks, so everyone obviously in
that situation, you're on edge and you're not thinking about
field position, right, You're just thinking about getting the ball
back right right, So you're worried about you know, it's
fourth and four, Okay, are they going to run it?
Because that'd be a little bit of a stretch, but
like with him back there and how they've.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
Been running the counter like maybe, and.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
Then you're thinking, like it's got to be a trick play,
some type of pass. So you know, credit to them
for them punting it. And then it executed exactly how
they won it. It was on the one yard line. And
then from that standpoint, like your playbook shrinks right quite
a bit. From that standpoint, we got a false start
and we back up, which is frustrating, which you can't
go any further than what we were.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
Yeah, we're pretty tight.

Speaker 4 (14:25):
And what's funny is you get in the huddle and
Matt's like, just let me throw it and We're like,
all right, let's go, and we took a shot like
that's when we took a shot at Rome, and I
think there's a past interfearance. And then we run the
ball again, and then we tried to take another shot
and we had him. We had him with Fogler, like
we had a chance that we just a little miss
not I don't want to say a miscommunication, but our
receiver stacked him and was going down the field like

(14:47):
more in a vertical path and Matt's trying to throw
it more outside because he's not trying to take a sack.
So Matt had him beat and I think we would
have completed if we executed a little bit better there.
But then and then Rome amazing at the nine nine
yard play, which I'm not gonna go into a discussion
about that, but the whole time he's right down the field,
I wanted to just like go stop him. So yeah,

(15:11):
because he like, I'm thinking, like we might have tight
punt after that, he's on our tight punt, So in
my head I'm just thinking, oh no, like he's gonna
run this whole way and then he's gonna realize it
didn't ca.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
He's young, he can handle it.

Speaker 4 (15:23):
So he gets in there and I'm just like, guys,
getting ready because we're gonna have to go tight punt
and he's on that.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
And just to be clear, when you said past interference,
that was that was on us. It wasn't didn't get
us out. Yeah, that was on our stuff.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
So we're still back there, but you know, we get
we do get the ball out of there, and and
uh X had a short field, you know, one of
the little things, and they went down and scored. But
really one of the things that maybe people weren't realizing
is they went for two and didn't get it. Had
they gotten that and things played out as they were,

(15:53):
I mean, they could have kicked a fueld goal at
the end to send it to overtime because we were
head by five. That that that right, is it?

Speaker 4 (16:01):
But it would it wouldn't have been an eight point
game there, right, right, So they could have They could
have been controlled and scored and won if that is
how it turns.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
Out what happens when I go off the confident I did, okay,
But anyway, it could have been a lot different. I mean,
because we did have the security of knowing absolute worst
case scenarios over time, you know, but they'd have to
punch it in and get it and get it too.

Speaker 4 (16:21):
Which is definitely added stress to the offense, and it
I don't want to say it relaxes.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
I want to say that, because it doesn't. But it's
a different.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
Mindset, sure, because you want to be in control to
win the game, right and when you have the chance
to go for two or force overtime, you just naturally
feel like you're more in control. And I think there's
just a different thought process.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
So so X does get it down to five and
then we get the ball, which was really a critical
time because you know, if they get the ball back,
I mean, they the crowds into it, they have the momentum,
and I think even in their mind they're like, hey,
we just got to keep doing what we're doing and
we're going to go to steal this game, which that
would have been pretty tough. Yes, the hats off to

(17:03):
the offense because we did move the ball down. While
we didn't score a touchdown, importantly, we got those points
on the board with the field goal.

Speaker 4 (17:10):
Well, the drive before that, we had a fourth and
one that was really frustrating, like we need to convert
that situation, and we didn't even come close to it.
So we need to get better in those in those
to go moments where you have to win the game
and everyone and their mother knows what you're doing. Right, Hey,
we're running the football right at you. We don't care

(17:32):
if you know it. We're getting the first down, and
good teams are able to do that to win games,
and we needed to do a better job of that.
Right Like, it was fourth and one, that was a
critical moment and we didn't capitalize. That's momentum changing for them.
And I think our defense ended up getting a stop
there if I remember correctly, I can't remember. Then our
offense got the ball and we moved down the field
third and six. Matt made a great play to Sam

(17:53):
Hamilton who had a great block by Matt Fogler, and
then Sam took it down and then we ended up
kicking the field goal to making an eight point game.
But that that drive is huge as well, and there's
there's pressure moments.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
We were able to get the ball down the field
and get points on the board.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
Coach versus let's say we run away with the game
in the first half and we just you know, we
win by a lot and all that. I look at
this type of game because we're going to be in
pressure games all the way out. I mean, we don't
have any we have any mulligans down the road. So
I think in a sense that having that pressure and
getting that feel for what we got to do in

(18:28):
order to convert and win a ball game, I think
that's also really good for our team.

Speaker 4 (18:34):
Yeah, I think it shows that you're you can never
let up. There's a lot of lessons that we learned
in a game like that. So we always talk about
blocking out all the external factors, which means you block
out the clock, you block out the score, you block
out the crowd, you block out the weather, you block
out like XYZ and just focus on the task at hand.

(18:54):
That one play, not the last play, not the next play,
that play right then and there, like it has its
own place in history and you just locking on that moment.
So that obviously didn't happen in the game on offense,
defense and special forces in critical moments. So it's a
good learning opportunity for the future. But even then, like
we played Sane Next twice last year, right, like you

(19:15):
you want to go into that now I think we've
done that the last two years in a row. So
now anytime I play we played Princeton, we play La
Coata West, you play, you know, say action in your mind,
you're like, we're gonna play them again potentially, right right,
Like you just think that way. So I think having
the game go the way did, I think that's better
mentally more than anything where it's a close game and

(19:37):
then you're on edge the next time you play that opponent.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
No doubt a team like Princeton wants to get another
crack at us at the end of the year.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
I mean that question. Yeah, yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
Now, just to wrap up the sane next game, you know,
some records fell as far as Matt was able to
have six a six touchdown pass game, which has never
happened in the history of more or high school one.

Speaker 4 (19:58):
Noah guessel Brook again, so hit six against out Well
that's what That's what I've been told in that.

Speaker 1 (20:05):
Over clarification, because I was told it was Noah at five.

Speaker 4 (20:08):
I thought it was a tie between Matt and Noah
in the older game that went into overtime back in.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
One. Was it like two three years ago? Coach twenty
two we'll get a clarification for that twenty one. It
was twenty one.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
It was twenty twenty one, right, that's what it was.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
Oh, that was the game at Elder that was like
fifty nine to fifty eight.

Speaker 4 (20:33):
So I think he had six touchdowns in that game.
It was a tie. But I mean nonetheless, I mean I.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
Don't remember that game. That was the game that was
scheduled I think at four o'clock. When UC played at
Notre Dame at like two thirty, and it was like
but I tell you what, it was packed at stacked,
and one loves their high school football.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
So but no, that was a classic game.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
But anyway, six touchdown passes, so we'll say at least
tied the record, but also broke Russell Torrik's career yardage
and then Tim Kagle's forty six yard touchdown passes. I mean,
he didn't just like squeak by on that. I mean
he went from forty four to fifty in one game.
And he's halfway through his regular season as a junior.

(21:15):
So that's pretty impressive.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
So one thing that I think is really impressive is
Matt has thrown a touchdown to nine different.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
Receivers this year.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
Yeah, and that's we've talked five pass he's and he
I think he had eight different receivers the other night,
you know.

Speaker 4 (21:28):
And so that's a testament to the receiving corps and
the coaches at those positions and how much confidence they
have in those guys where we just routine and it's
not like, hey, this kid needs to be in for
this may play. It really is like every three you
guys are going, we don't care what the play call is,
right like when your numbers called, we expect you to perform.

(21:49):
And we have that at at a lot of different a
lot of different spots on offense with the skill position,
which I'm excited about. But the one guy we gotta
we got to bring up right and is Tyler Jocelyn. Yes,
I mean, how about that. He had ninety nine yards
and a lot of tough runs and if we would
have blocked a couple plays better, he would have been
over one hundred. I think his last carry was actually

(22:11):
that TfL on the fourth down. But I mean, what
a performance. Just he started off as a quarterback and
he was the JV quarterback last year. He's back and
forth wants to move the running back and even on
some days of practice, we don't have enough quarterbacks to practice,
so he's going back and playing quarterback again, right, and
he's not getting reps at running back and he's down

(22:31):
the depth chart, but he just sticks with it. He
is one of the hardest workers, not just on this
football team. I would say, just like in the school,
like whatever you want to say, right, Like that kid
you never want to count against. He broke his leg
in wrestling back in December, come back faster than anyone
would have predicted.

Speaker 1 (22:50):
You can't even tell.

Speaker 4 (22:51):
But just a testament to grit and perseverance and this
resiliency and just this un wavering faith in himself. And
I'm sure there's a lot of days where he was
not happy, he was frustrating. Give his parents a lot
of credit for how they raised him and how they
push him. Just what a great story with him. I

(23:14):
just love that kid to death and we're just so
proud of him. But you know, just I want to
bring that up because Matt has that stellar night, He's
on fire, six touchdowns, break all those records, and then
you know, we're still celebrating dollar Jocelyn with his.

Speaker 1 (23:31):
Important you know what starts to come on.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
I mean, we're gonna have to have it, especially if
we have a lot of let's say weather in our
upcoming game, whatever it is.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
And that would be the first to say. Man like,
he just wants to win.

Speaker 4 (23:43):
He just wants to win, so he doesn't care where
the credit goes and all that stuff. Right, Like you've
seen him in interviews. He's calm and collected, and he
likes to give praise out to his teammates and the
offensive line.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
And you know, another game where the offensive.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
Line gave up zero sacks, especially after the week before
when we gave up five, and that was under pressure
throughout the time. So a really good bounce back with
from a lot of different positions across the board on the.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
Team, Tyler seems to run very hard north and south
and uh that shows.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
And and very well well.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
And then the other thing that kind of left me
speechless at the end of the game after we took
a knee, he was standing on the ten yard.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
Did a backflip in full gear? Did he really? Yes?
And I'm like I didn't see that. I'm like, I
can't do that.

Speaker 4 (24:27):
That's because that's what Jordan used to do all the time.
So now it's like, I guess, we gotta find someone
who can do that.

Speaker 1 (24:31):
Yeah, so that was It's funny as my.

Speaker 4 (24:33):
Kid goes out in the trampoline and he's practicing for
that moment because he saw Jordan.

Speaker 3 (24:38):
There you go, there you go. Well, Tyler's Karen on
the tradition. So that's yeah, I know right after, I
mean the game was over. I always wondering because you
get a penalty for doing that, but once the game's over,
it's over.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
So so he got it done.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
So uh, testament to him, but testament to the squad
as far as there's nothing better than starting out in GCL.
Want to oh it just it just sets the t
for some good things. And you know, throwing a little
blue team saying X with that first win at the
little Cherry on top. Yeah, coach, so all right, a
little bit of a dale Bider had to finish that

(25:11):
one out. But we're in the GCL mode, so we're
gonna take a break and we'll come back to talk
about our next opponent. That's the Red team, that's the
Lea sal Lancers coming up Friday night at Lancer Stadium.
But we'll take a break and you're listening to the
Bird Bath the Annie Show heard here on w MOE
and the Moler Broadcasting Network, sponsored by Comy and Shepherd Realtors.

Speaker 1 (25:32):
We'll be right back.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
For all of your real estate needs, contact Comye and
Shepherd Realtors Championship Service and Quality Agents. That's Comy and
Shepherd Realtors, Go Big Mo.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
You're listening to w MOE and the Moler Broadcasting Network
and specifically the Bert Bathyani Show, which features the head
coach of the Football Crusaders. Bert Bathyani Show is sponsored
by Comy and Sheppard Realtors, and I'm Jeff Schneidel class
of nineteen eighty four here with Coach Bathyanny and coach
we get to take on the Lesle Lancers, which last year,

(26:26):
I mean that was a hard fought game last year
twenty eight to twenty that the Crusaders took the victory.
But you know the Lancers, while they're averaging or they've
scored one hundred and fifteen points on offense, they have
a very stingy defense only giving up fifty.

Speaker 4 (26:42):
Yep, they're giving up like seven points a game. They
got the number one ranked defense in the gCO stat wise.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
And they're off and they're five and zero.

Speaker 4 (26:49):
They're off to a five and oh start, and they're
doing a good job. I mean, their defense flies around,
their physical, they're aggressive. I think they give great effort
on offense. They're big up for they have a very
stout running game as well, and they got athletes on
the edge that that can hurt you if you if
you fall asleep.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
Right.

Speaker 4 (27:06):
So, I mean this, this game, like you said, was
a nail bider last year. And if you think that
this isn't gonna be a blood bath when these two
teams face off, you're out of your mind. I mean,
it's gonna be a physical contest. It's gonna be highly competitive,
and both teams are gonna come right a roll.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
And coach, there is an impending storm as uh obviously
we're we're not the day of the game. We'll see
how that plays out. But uh, you know, whatever the
weather is, you got to go out and play. But hopeful,
hopefully that just blows through and maybe there's a little
moisture on the field, but hopefully not like a driving
rain or something.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
But I mean, it is what it is.

Speaker 4 (27:43):
You just gotta you gotta handle it, and how you
handle it. And and uh, I mean obviously no one
wants to play and weather like that, but who cares, Like,
don't tell me how rock and this seaon. Just bring
the dang ship home and you go. Let me just
go out and play. It doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
We'll make sure dom Ikevone has all the rain gear.
There's no doubt about that. He's always prepared with that.
Whatever the situation is now, Mikeavill will be prepared.

Speaker 3 (28:02):
Coach anything anything special we can expect this week against
against the Red team. Obviously we get back to back
trips to North Bend Road, and I mean it's another
GCL game, so it will be.

Speaker 1 (28:14):
That blood bath. Well yeah, I mean their head coach
is a Molo grad. Their defensive coordinator is a Molo grad.
Like the the head.

Speaker 4 (28:20):
Coach's son is the quarterback, right, and he's a fantastic player.
He's a really really good football players, committed athlete. And yeah,
like do you think they don't want to like bring
everything they got to this game?

Speaker 1 (28:32):
You're out of your mind.

Speaker 4 (28:34):
This is gonna be a physical football game and it's
gonna be a great football game. And you know, both
teams better come right to roll that I mean, that's it.
It's GCL football. Anything can happen, and both teams will
be highly motivated, especially with the start.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
You know, you got a five and.

Speaker 4 (28:47):
Zero team, you got a four and one team.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
It's just classic.

Speaker 3 (28:52):
GC doesn't get much, doesn't get much bigger than this. Yes,
but we get to travel over there. Everybody health wise, everybody,
we're in good shape as far as Yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:01):
I'm not going to comment on health on the podcast.
Go on, now, come on. I got to get something.

Speaker 3 (29:05):
I had some type of teaser out there to have
people listen to the end. Yeah, all right, Well when
we ask like geography questions or something whenever you want anyway, coach,
let's go get them. And as we march through the
GCL and keep things going. You know, certainly along the way,
very very entertaining squad we have and certainly fun to watch. Awesome,

(29:29):
So let's keep it going. So the Crusaders, as they
have outscored their opponents twenty nine to eighty four in
the first half of.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
Games, you said twenty nine, I did well.

Speaker 3 (29:44):
I meant to add another nine on it, two hundred
and ninety nine to eighty four. Thanks coach.

Speaker 1 (29:49):
Wow, you're I'm just looking at your notes. I do
not know that's that.

Speaker 3 (29:53):
But with that, you know, coach, we get out off
to a fast start and just like we did last week.
So I'd love to get off to a real fast
start and just just get the game away. So why
don't we do that? How about that? You have no
comment on that.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
You know you know me well enough there. You just
trying to just trying to live and things up and
have some fun with it. So it's all good. We
have fun anyway.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
As that is the head coach of the Crusaders, Bert
bathyany coach, always appreciate your time game week. I know
it's gets a little bit stressful as you're trying to
get everything on the way.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
But yeah, but Hayes in the bar.

Speaker 4 (30:28):
Now, we've had a good week of practice and our
guys are mentally.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
Ready time to go perform. You go that as Bert
Bathy Andy.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
As you're listening to the Bert Bathy Andy Show, which
features the head coach of the Moeler Football Crusaders. Show
is sponsored by Comy and Shepherd Reeltors. I'm Jeff Schneidel
with the class of nineteen eighty four, also with Comy
and Shepherd Realtors for all your real estate needs, and
you hear it here on w MOE and the Molar
