Success in life coman What is it you want?

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Give your best effort, show me what you got. If
you want to be a success, you gotta have.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
It's the Burt Pathyany Coaches Shoe presented by Koree and
Shepherd Realtors and First Community Mortgage, a competitive combo championship
results and here's your host. Jeff Seede and Order head
football coach Hurt Pathiany.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
W Mooe and the Moler Broadcasting Network present The Burt
Pathyani Show featuring the head coach of the Crusaders, Bert Bathyani.
The show is sponsored by Coomy and Shepherd Reeltors and
I'm Jeff Schneidle class of nineteen eighty four also with
Komy and Shepherd Realtors. And it's always great to catch
up with our favorite head coach, coach Bert Bathiany. Coach,

(00:48):
how we doing today? Regular season?

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Over over a we travel should be a little bit easier.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Two thousand miles we logged.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
This is the first time we're playing in the same
stadium twice. What about that?

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Well, there goes my theory of sixteen different stadiums that
I was trying.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
I was trying to do it, honestly, we were trying to.
We're trying to. It just didn't work out. But it
doesn't matter. So we don't care what we could.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Have played up the road possibly, but anyway, we won't.
We won't go there. We'll talk about we'll.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Talk about that later.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
We'll talk about that later. So coach, you know, we're
through the regular season, nine and one GCL championship, six
in a row. You know, I know Matt has put
up some really great numbers. The numbers I want to
focus on. Thirty nine touchdowns, but nine different receivers have
caught touchdown passes.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Yeah, let's impress.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
That's pretty cool to double digits.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
I think that says a lot about the talent that
we have within those groups and how much trust we
have in those guys to just go out and make plays.
Like we really just rotate and we stick to the rotation,
and when we call plays, just whoever's in right and
it's like kind of luck of the draw to a
certain degree. I don't want that to sound bad, but
we just have that much faith in our receivers, our
tight ends and running backs where we just we plug

(02:00):
and play and it's an expectation for the position not
the player where whoever's in, we expect them to execute
and go do their job. And that's offense, defense, special forces,
it doesn't matter. It's the same mentality everywhere.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Coach. The one word I would look at as far
as throughout the year, it just had a really good balance.
I mean, I know, you know, some great numbers on offense.
I mean, thirty nine touchdown passes, two interceptions. I mean,
it's like mind blown. I mean, that's almost what like
a Tari game whatever. I don't play, I don't do whatever.

(02:33):
Those are the video games. That's that's what I was
searching for. But it just seems like, you know, defensively,
we've we've i mean we've been very consistent, and you
know we've had just good line play and really game
of football. If you've got good solid line play on
both sides of the ball, you're gonna do Okay.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Yeah, I think it all. I mean, the old adage
is that it all starts up front, and that's truer
than ever, especially in the playoffs, especially when it gets cold,
and you got to be able to run the football
and stop the run and create negative plays on defense
and create explosive plays on offense. It starts right there, right,
So been really proud with our offensive line, been really

(03:12):
proud of our defensive line, and they get after people
and the best thing is they make each other better
weekend and week out. Right. That's the magic sauce I
think for our football team is the competition we have
within each position group. They make each other better because
they're competing. And then the competition between offense and defense
each week when we do our movers mo that's our

(03:34):
most important period of the day, and our guys take
it really serious, and I think that allows us to
flip that switch and be competitive, so we're not just
turning it on on Friday. So I think that's been
the biggest thing for us.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Coach nine and one regular season's that's something special. Over
two thousand miles in the book. So yeah, so let's
make sure our next big travel is to northeast Ohio.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
But that's way down the road wave over the Dell
high which we're very familiar with. So it's it's good
to get some familiarity where the last time we played
there was he Central and then we scrimmaged there.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
It seems like it was three years ago and.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
We we scrimmaged Massling there as well, so and all
these guys played there last year, so we're familiar with
that venue, which is good. There's some comfort there. But
what I love is it doesn't matter where we play
because we're just used to traveling, right, So I think
that that ends up being an advantage for us, especially
in the state of Ohio, and hopefully if we're fortunate

(04:32):
enough to advance, you get some neutral site games and
you're more used to that.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
The playoffs are out, but the only game that matters
is the one we'll talk about in the second segment.
So absolutely no need to no need to go through it.
But Coach, we'll take our first break here as everybody's
listening to the Bert Bathyni Show, which features the head
coach of the Football Crusaders, Bert Bathyani, sponsored by Come
and Shepherd Realtors and heard here on w m o

(04:59):

Charlie Shank, Peter Swallander Honorable Mention All Southwest District. We

(05:44):
are proud if I are men of Molar from w
MOOE in the Molar Broadcasting Network.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Welcome back to w MOE and the Molar Broadcasting Now work.
As you're listening to the Burt pathy Andy Show, which
features the head coach of the nine and one GCL
champion Moler Crusaders, I'm Jeff Schneidel. I am with Comy
and Shepherd Realtors who sponsors the show, and coach had
a nice little trip up to Muskege in, Michigan. Really

(06:18):
a really cool stadium, but you know, a six hour
trip up a couple stops. Tell us about the stop
up in Northern Indiana for the kids.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
Yeah, So, like you said, it's a six hour trip
and we wanted to break that up along the way,
so we broke it up every two hours. Our guys
got here really early in the morning. I think we
started at six thirty, and then we had our faith
formation in chapel a little bit after that, and we
were on the road by seven forty five, stopped at
a pit stop outside Indianapolis, and then our next out
was at Notre Dame, which was awesome. So obviously with

(06:49):
our school, there's a ton of connections there. I mean
Coach Fowles and numerous players that have played there, and
we got Carson Hobbs there right now. So through those connections,
we were able to set up a time where we
could tour the stadium, tour the locker room, and they
were on their way to traveling at Navy and everything,
so they were already long gone. But it was really

(07:10):
cool for our guys to be in the locker room
and see Carson Hobbs locker is name right there. So
a lot of guys are taking pictures of that, and
I think it was really humbling for us. Even for me,
it was very humbling because I started to think of
how many people have been in that locker room, because
that stadium has been there for so long, and I
started to thinking how many presidents have been in that

(07:31):
locker room, you know what I mean, how many famous
people in our in our country that have set foot
in that locker room because it is Notre Dame, it
is holy ground. It was pretty cool. And then that
was my first time there and we go in the
stadium and you know, it goes up and you can
just imagine when all those people were there and it
just piling down on you. So our guys were taking

(07:52):
a ton of pictures out on the field having fun.
I think it allowed them to loosen up a little bit, relax,
and it was that was better than a focus session
we could ever do because we're getting out and walking
around and getting the legs loose, so we didn't have
bus legs I think when we got back on the
bus and got there. But I thought it was just
as cool for the coaches and as anyone else. And

(08:12):
we got to see the Dome, we got to see
Touchdown Jesus, the Basilica, and then we went to the
grotto too, So it was overall a great day, great experience.
So I think our guys really enjoyed it.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Coach, that's just not a pit stop, I mean, that's
everyone's out exerting energy and kind of you know because
you just you ride on a bus for so long,
about an hour and a half to but you're moving around,
you get keeping the blood moving and everything. You know.
The big question with the locker room did it was
everyone able to touch the sign?

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Yeah, we went through the tunnel and that's you know,
everyone touched the sign and it went out and it's
I mean, it's just so cool. It doesn't matter if
you're a Notre Dame fan or not. That is a
bucket list place to visit. It's just all the all
the history that goes there, and then when you had
the faith into it as well, it's just a little

(09:01):
bit surreal when you're there's a special place.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
It is a special place. And to even think it's
if you really think about it's bizarre that coach foule.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
I was just thinking of my head. Yeah, it's bizarre.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Moller High School.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Yeah, which says so much about coach Fouss and his
personality and and just you know how engaging he is.
And you know once you meet him, once you feel
like you've known him for thirty years.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
That's just the he knows everybody. He's amazing, you know.
The other cool part of that story was coach fous
knew in the summer that that was a strong possibility
of Dan Devine's wife. You know, the health kept going backwards,
and so he knew that and the only person he
told was his dad, how about that? So they went
through the whole season. He knew that that was, you know,

(09:47):
the possibility. And certainly we beat Maslin. We you know,
we win the state championship and there you go. So
but it just the fathom.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
That, yeah, you know, I mean never that would never
happened today, right, I.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Mean, I never no offense, but like you didn't go
to like Duke or something. I mean, you know, you know,
great schools and stuff, but maybe not such a storied
football program. I mean, it's just bizarre. But anyway, we
get back on point here and and and uh we
get up to Muskegan. Uh, and coach, you know, I
was told in the press box that the the same

(10:23):
folks that design and built the U of M, you know,
Michigan Stadium did that at Muskegan back in the twenties,
and that's if and when I was told that, it
kind of all clicked. I'm like, now it makes sense.
I've been to you know, Michigan Stadium, and I'm like, now,
I see the resemblance the brick wall, and it was just.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
It was really cool setup because it was it was
a one sided stadium, right, and.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
You were but you're you were looking at the press
box stands.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
We got to see it all.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
You didn't see that. You see, I'm in real estate.
I see, I see. I see the opportunity, you know,
put up a roof deck and be able to watch
the game and see. You know.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
But we were over there and I thought it was
a great environment. We were excited to play. We got
out there and you know, it was a cool stadium.
So we're excited. And I thought our guys traveled well
and they got off the bus and I thought we
got off to a fast art.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
Coach. Uh, you know, I have to bring up something negative.
I mean, we go we get the opening kick off,
we go out and we get a delay again.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Oh that's on me, that's undresent on me, no one else.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
I mean, we can't have it all.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
You know, we just wanted to make it a little harder.
Thank god for Carson ko bailing me out there. But
that was a we had our play call, and we
wanted to check this outing just to make make sure
that we were seeing the right thing, and it took
us a little longer to get out of the huddle
the normal and then all of a sudden, the clock's
going down.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
That that's on me, well, you know, doing the broadcast.
I mean, we have our kind of little idiosyncrasies, and
one of them is is when we get a penalty,
do you know what I say? Okay, it's not bad.
We just get a chance to pad the stats. We
both say that we pad the stats, so that that's
what we got to do.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
So thank god for Ko and Matt on that one.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Absolutely so coach. We come out opening drive, five plays,
sixty four yards and you know, the game really kind
of started rather interesting with a lot of touchdowns. Man scored.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
Yeah, and we we knew going into that game that
they had a lot of explosive firepower on offense. They
run a unique offense that like a lot of triple
variations within their scheme and stuff like that. When you
have as much speed as they do, that just poses
an issue. We felt good about our matchup offense defensively,
and we knew if we had we had to try

(12:42):
to eliminate explosive plays more than anything, and we gave
up a couple, and you know, it came down the
simple things that are able to be fixed. It's mostly
I discipline and just being able to do your job.
But offenses like that make you make those mistakes. Right.
That's why like the navies and the armies of the
world have success, because they show you one thing, one thing,
one thing, and then they change it up on you, right,

(13:03):
and if your eyes aren't disciplined all the time. So
I thought for that being the last game of the year,
I kind of wanted the game to go that way
where it was a little bit of a dog fight
early on and then we had to pull away in
the end, just like a little bit of a wake
up call as you're heading into the playoffs. Honestly, I

(13:24):
didn't want it to be a game where you just
came out on all cylinders and just put you know
what I mean, because you want to make sure that
you're still in rhythm. But it's okay to be humbled
a little bit and have a little bit of a
wake up call. That's not a bad thing. But we
were still able to pull away and fight and scratch
and claw to kind of get out of that after
halftime and then pull away in the second half.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
Coach. So you know what was unique about that first
half is the first nine possessions there were eight touchdowns scored. Great,
so we score a touchdown and they kind of mirrored
us and they went and scored ye and it's seven
to seven, and I'm kind of like going, this is
gonna this is kind of interesting as far as to
see what happened.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Now.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
The other thing is is I know that they did
not have obviously the depth of the roster. I knew
in the back of my mind, I'm thinking, you know,
if these guys are going both ways, I mean, that's
that's just it's it's just gonna wear down a little bit.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
And but you know what, like if they have a
couple of guys that they didn't wear down, that number seven,
he didn't wear down at all. I mean, that kid
is a player. Their quarterback is a savvy player as well,
and made a lot of plays. But that was their
I think they needed to win that game to get
in the playoffs, too, So you knew they were gonna
fight for it.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
Defending state champion and the play now. And I believe
they've also lost a couple of kids along the way,
which unfortunately happens. But I mean, football is football, so coach,
you know, in the whole sequence again, we scored, they scored,
we scored, and then they punted, which was the first

(14:57):
non scoring drive. We twenty one to seven, and then
we onside kick and we get the ball back.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
And that was a perfect onside kick. I give James
a lot of credit. This is his first year playing football.
He just came out this year and he was our
Special Forces player of the game in Week one against Princeton.
But he kicked that onside kick. It hit perfectly in
the ten yard line, and our our dude on Special Forces,
Landed Adham, just scoops that thing right up. And he
is just a stud in so many different ways. He's

(15:25):
also the one who recovered the kick on the on
side against Saint Ed's yep, and had the amazing catch
for the touchdown against Saint Eds as well. Lands just
made play after play this year.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
So and that ball was really close to the fifty
I mean, but it was perfect perfect that's how you
drew it up, right.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
Yeah, Well, James, does it like that in practice too,
so we felt that confident doing it right. So he's
pretty good at it. And if you notice, like, oh,
I don't know if you remember against Princeton we scored,
it was tied, we did an onside kick again with him, right,
so we feel good about it.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
So coach, we you know, all of a sudden, now
we're up twenty eight to seven. Not that you breathe
any easier, but you're like, okay, now we got a
nice little lead. They come back and score twenty eight fourteen.
We come back and score thirty five to fourteen. It's like,
you know, this is just kind of keeps going on.
Then they score again thirty five twenty one, and then
they Onseie kicked on us. Yeah, so again.

Speaker 1 (16:22):
And their kid it is like in the perfect spot
and it wheeled back just where it's like I'm between
two guys. So obviously not happy about it as well.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
Almost like a golf shot where it hit some rolls back.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
Yeah, it was a nasty kick, and give them credit
for doing it, but we should have been able to
recover it. It was a little bit. It was like right
in that no man's land, and then someone's got to
just be confident and go get.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
It, coach, even though we give that up. Is that
good that that happened because we experienced it and it's like, Okay,
this is what happens if we're not I mean, I mean,
I know it's a perfect I think it's all.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
About your mindset, right, never want to give up stuff
like that. And luckily enough, I don't think they scored afterwards,
which would have been given them a ton of momentum.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
No, they didn't score. Yeah, but eight of the first
nine possessions were touchdown and then we go into sequence
with the next three, we're three and out, they go
three or you know, three and out. We go three
and they go three and out. We go three and out,
they go three and out, and then we then we
get a drive and we're able to tack on you know,
the fuel goal.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Yeah, that was a huge That was a great drive
because it started off with we'll start off with an
incomplete pass on an easy throat we should have completed.
But then Kuber McCutchen had a big play, Chivan had
a big play, and then the play that drive maybe
like one of the best plays a game was Carson
ko on a little stick pattern that we run and
he's just trying to get the first down. We're about
to call time out, but he makes a guy miss,

(17:45):
makes another guy miss, and then gets at a bound
right with enough time where we can still take two
shots into the end zone. So what an unbelievable play
by Ko. He played a phenomenal game on Friday night.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
And Jack Malibar, you know, hitting in the thirty.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
Yeah, and another first year football player came out and
he was a soccer player and decided to play football.
So going into this season, like you lose Devin or
lose Ethan Page, you lose all the guys that we
have from last year, you lose I mean they were
they were really good players. We had four kickers that

(18:20):
we felt good about and they're all seniors, right, and
they left and they I mean they graduated and we
have we have to figure it out. And there's been
a lot of competition. We have four kickers again.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
And I thought I thought you were referred to. It
seems like we got a lot of guys that can.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
I mean, I think I think they've all been player
of the game in Special Forces as well, right, Like
I think Cornwell was it against Princeton and then he
got hurt against Dwinger, so Patrick Patrick had to go
in and he was special force in the game. And
then he actually kicked the game winning our JV game
against Saint Ed's that allowed us to have the sweep there,
so that was huge. Sherman's been great on kickoff and

(18:59):
and then been great on field goal. So we've got
a lot of kickers that have kind of done a
good job in their role and they keep competing with
each other and it's allowed us to be pretty excited
for the future.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
And we don't talk about special forces that much. I
mean even even all the snaps and everything. I mean,
we haven't had Charlie Nelson.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
And Clayton Crumb. They do a really good job.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
I mean so that the holder, ye, he's a stud.
So I mean special forces in a way kind of
like the referees. If they just you do their job,
you don't really notice them. They just do their job
and it's all good. But when they don't do their job,
then it's you know, it gets magnified.

Speaker 1 (19:35):
Yeah, exactly, you kind of want to fall under the
radar in some regard. Now, our philosophy is we still
try to be aggressive on those teams to try to
make explosive plays as well, like Landon Adams on kickoff
return has been money. Kao has been great, Chris Bradley
back there, Dante where they've all been great. Ko has
been I mean, Kao's improvement on fielding punts has been

(19:56):
awesome these last couple of weeks and really has changed
the game field position wise. So those are the ones
where it's like, hey, like we want to be aggressive
there and we've had a you know, I think we've
had two block punts and a touchdown. I mean, I
think we've scored a handful of like three touchdowns I
think just off special Forces this year, which I've been
pretty proud of.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
Right, well, they're special Forces play and again, gonna need
that to make a run in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
Yeah, I mean, if that's if that's the games, it's
a lard of the game. You got to make sure
you're practice and we put a lot of time and
effort into it as.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
Well on that show. So we get to half, we
have you know, we basically have a pretty good lead
at halftime thirty eight to twenty one, and then uh
they come out and basically have to punt and then
we scored another We scored another touchdown, which basically kind
of sealed it at that. I mean, there just wasn't
gonna be enough time, you know, to come back. So

(20:51):
but the defense came out and held them. I mean
they come out and scored, and you know it could
be a ten point game.

Speaker 1 (20:56):
Yeah, And then I think on defense we were I
think we forced three turnovers, right, so Chris Prowley had
a pick, Jackson Porter had a pick, and then Marina
Middleton with the strip sack. That was huge. So we
were plus three in the turnover margin and we didn't
turn the ball over on offense, which is huge.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
Not to single out one defender, but it sure seems
like Middleton has kind of been Johnny on the spot
as the seasons progressed. I mean, we got a lot
of guys that are doing a lot of good things.
He just seems like, Wow, he's kind of he's.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
A little on heralded just because of the nature of
how we play him. You know, he does his job,
but there's not a lot of stats in him doing
his job right, but he still finding ways to make plays,
like he had a big pick against Ignacious in the
red zone and then he he's the one who got
to start against st Ed's the TfL in the first
play that he does a great job. I mean, you

(21:47):
preach all the time about stay ready, so you don't
got to get ready and your moment's gonna come and
just be ready to take advantage of it when it comes.
And that's Marino to a t right, Like he wasn't
listed to starter coming into this year, and you know,
you have a you know, a player not there anymore,
and then he steps in and he's made the most
of it.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
Kind of like an offensive lineman or defensive lineman. They're
doing a lot of stuff that other people can get done.
But if they don't do their stuff, the other stuff
doesn't get done and then they don't get a lot
credit for it. So and trust me, it's hard broadcasting.
We got to say everything in the present and it's
hard to you know, reconsize, it really is. So so
we so we we wrap up the game fifty two

(22:27):
twenty seven, you know, nine to one season, coach, that's
that's tremendous. And given the schedule we play.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
Yeah, I mean we're proud of that, don't get me wrong,
but that's not the end goal, right, and you know,
we're we're just trying to take it one game at
a time and now, like now get serious, right, like
this is do or die and that's that's it. So
you don't try to put like too much pressure on
it or anything like that. But there's got to be
a little bit of an edge to it as well.
Like the games are different than they were in the

(22:54):
regular season, right, Like they're just different. But as long
as we stay focused and keep trying to be the
best version of ourselves and show up every single Friday
the most complete Molar football team that we can possibly be,

Welcome back to w MOE and the Mollar Broadcasting Network.
You're listening to the Burt Bathyan Show, which features the
head coach of the Moehler Crusaders. Bert bathy Any Show
is sponsored by Comy and Shepherd Realtors. I'm Jeff Schneidel
class of nineteen eighty four and with Comy and Shepherd realtors,
but coach get to go to this segment and we
all get to go to zero and zero and start

(25:18):
anew if you will. So you know, we play an
opponent that's probably our closest D one opponent with that
in the Sycamore Aviators that come in with a one
and nine record. They've lost five in a row. Last
week they lost to Hamilton fifty to three. We've played
them five times, we've won five times. Although we did

(25:41):
have a really interesting game back in two thousand and
seven where we played at Sycamore Stadium and were they
were the higher seed, we were the lower seed, and
they came out of the box. I think we were
down fourteen points at one point, and we're like, wow,
this is going to happen. All of a sudden, there's
a big pickoff return I think Galvin had a pick

(26:05):
six and it kind of turned the tide and we
ended up winning thirty five twenty eight. But it was
very talented Sycamore team. We were talented too, and it
was one of those games we got behind early and thought, man,
this is just isn't going to be our night. But
there was a lot of excitement in that stadium, and
I think Coach Crable, as you know the history, we
used to play our home games at Sycamore Stadium way

(26:28):
back in the day, and Coach Crable made the comment about, well,
I guess the ghosts of the past kind of came
back and helped us a little bit. So hopefully we
don't have to rely on any ghosts coming back as
hey keep with our Halloween theme here. But anyway, so coach,
you know, Scott Totillo has been there for eighteen years.
He's won over one hundred games, one hundred and nine

(26:49):
and ninety three, and he is a really really good
coach and just unfortunately they're having a tough year.

Speaker 1 (26:54):
Yeah, I have nothing better respect for Scott the Tallow.
I used to go and recruit there every single year
and made a point that always spend a lot of
time with him just because I have so much respect
for him. I thought he always got the most out
of his players, more than anyone in Cincinnati, to be honest.
And some of my favorite players that I got the
coach at Tiffman were from Sycamore, right, Like you know,
Patrick Twymee was a safety for us, and you know,

(27:16):
allowed us to be really really successful, you know during
that time. So I go, you know, way back with
coach to Till and just nothing but respect for him.
And you know, we got to come right to play
no matter what, right like, we don't really care about
the opponent that we play. It's all about us and
that's the mindset we we got to have. But in Cincinnati,
I think that this region is just so tough to

(27:37):
get out of. I get some of that, especially this year.
I think there's just so many good teams in this
region and just never what's going to happen, Like last
year the number one seed lost in the second round,
right Like this stuff like that happens all the time.
So you got to come prepared. You got to take
each day day series and practice to the best of

(27:57):
your ability to put the best product out on Friday night.
Which I think we've done that this week and had
a good week of practice. So excited to play tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
Coach. Not to put any fear, but we have been
a one seed and back in the day when they
only let eight teams in in the region, we we
we took a loss that was a tough one, No,
that was actually fairfield but then we did. We did
have the game against we did have the game against
the Middletown which.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
Zach Edwards, who's on her staff, was actually on that team.

Speaker 2 (28:23):
Yeah, Yeah, that was no That Middletown game, that was
just I mean, they just they just they took us
to the woods. The Fairfield game that we lost when
we were the one seed and they were the I
mean it was nip and tuck and they scored late
and and I mean that was whatever twenty three, twenty
four years ago. But the Middletown game, man, they just
they just took it to us. We just don't want

(28:43):
to say we couldn't do anything right. They just were
just on.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
So it just goes the show. Playoff football, you come
right to play no matter what. You can't take anyone
for granted, because it just takes one play to give
so momentum and belief is a powerful, powerful thing, and
you got to them out prepared and be ready to
jump on him as fast as you can, and then
you got to stay on them because you can't just

(29:06):
any one play could change the tide and change the momentum.
Just like you know last week, I Mischigan right that
onside kick was a huge play for them, and if
they end up scoring right there, it's a one score
game going at half time where they're getting the ball
back in half. So you just got to focus on
yourself and focus on your team and your ability to
be the best version of yourself so we can put
out the most complete team we can on Friday.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
Coach, I mean they have they have a solid coach.
You know, their season hasn't gone the way they want.
Everyone starts anew. And the other thing is is we
are dealing with kids, and and sometimes when you play
and you don't have anything to lose, let everything hang out.
And again it's uh you know, I mean, I mean,
like a low possession game or turnovers happened, or things

(29:49):
just don't go right, can't get on you know, but uh,
it's football, football, So you just got to get it
done one game at a time.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
Yeah, because like honestly, guy, like like nothing matters right now,
Like the seeds don't matter. It don't matter. You have
to play people, no matter what. We have to play
good teams. You have to play good coaches who watch film,
they lift weights, they practice hard. So it doesn't matter
who you play. You gotta play somebody, and you just
show up and try to be the best team you
possibly can be.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
And be in the one seed and being moler. We're
gonna get everyone's out of get They would like nothing better.
So be ready for trick.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
Plays, be very for on site kicks, fake punts, reversus
all that stuff. Right, like, this is the time where
teams are gonna do it.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
Gotta go get it done, Coach, may we go one
at a time. So all right, the Crusaders take on
the Sycamore Aviators at seven o'clock at Mount Saint Joe.
If you can't make it, certainly tune in to w
MOE and the Molar Broadcasting Network. Coach always enjoy sitting down.
We just got we keep this going week the week.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
Yeah, this is good. In the facility that we're doing
it isn't too shabby either.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
Yeah, so we just gotta Yeah, this is a great
set up here at studio. And then of course we
have a big open house on yeah, on Sunday, so it's, uh,
it's gonna be a great It's gonna be a great
weekend for the cruiser.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
There's no days often in November.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
Right, Nope, Nope, Nope. We gotta keep it going one
game at a time, all right. That is coach Bert Bathyany,
and I'm Jeff Schneidel, class of nineteen eighty four. You've
been listening to The Bert Bathyany Show, which is sponsored
by Comy and Shepherd Realtors and heard here on w
