Speaker 1 (00:00):
Success in life. Come, what is it you want?

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Give your best effort, show me what you got.

Speaker 1 (00:04):
If you want to be a success, you gotta have.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
It's the Burt Pathyany Coach You Shoe presented by Koree
and Shepherd Realtors and First Community Mortgage, a competitive combo
championship results and here's your host, Jeff Seede and Bolder
head football coach Hurt Pathy.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Andy W. Moe and the Moler Broadcasting Network present The
Burt Bathiani Show, which features the head coach of the
Moeler Football Final four Crusaders, Bert Bathyani. Show is sponsored
by Komy and Shepherd Reeltors and I'm Jeff Schneigel class
of nineteen eighty four, also with Komy and Shepherd Reltors

(00:47):
the Montgomery Office. And it's always great to catch up
with the head coach of the Crusaders, Bert Bathyany coach,
how are we doing today?

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Sneed's always good to see you, even better this week
because that means we're practicing on Thanksgiving.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
I hope we have to. I hope I have to
keep seeing you with headmen.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Amen.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Sure it's likewise. So first of all, you know, congratulations.
It is no small fee to be four time and
defending champion of the Southwest region. That's Region four in
Division one. So hats off to you and the squad.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Yeah, I mean I think our region, you know, biasly
is the toughest one. I think there's just teams. Yeah,
I mean, you just look at it just that there
was I mean in the second round, like, look, Goda
East is a good team, right, Like Princeton's a good team.
Say next is a good team. And then you look
on the other side of the bracket, you still had
West and you still had Elder. You know, I know

(01:42):
I'm probably missing some other ones, but I mean they
can compete with anyone.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Technically X was on that side. We're happy that they
were on that side. Let them sort it.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Out, went Woods, right, like, but we're talking about some
of the best teams, not just in Cincinnati but in
the in the state of Ohio. So coming to out
of this region is is a challenge and it's a
blessing force and there's been a lot of hard work
that's gone into it. And you think, you know, four
times in a row, it's you're proud of it, but
you know, this team, they have their site set on

(02:13):
something way bigger. So we're moved on and we're ready
to roll for this week.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
And coach, it's not just what they've done the last
fourteen or fifteen weeks, it's what they've been through the
last you know, yes, over, I was gonna say eight
or nine months, but realistically three and a half years.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
And this group's locked in. They're locked in. Like after
the game, it was you know, you know, I bet
most teams like took pictures and celebrated, and the first
thing they said was like, Coach, we don't want to
do a picture. We want to go in the locker
room and just move on. We want we're a roll.
And they're they were already on to the next week already,
and you know, you love that mindset about them, and

(02:49):
you know they'll be able to enjoy this later on.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
And that's no disrespect to win in the region. That's
just hey, we we got we got more we got
to do, and especially I mean the you know, the
basic coach out or put down and what you're carrying on,
and you know they want to break through.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Yeah, I think that's the way it goes is breakthrough.
You know, we've been in the spot for four years
in a row now, and something's got changed, right, And
that's been our message this whole time. Like it's been
a one score game and something's held us back whatever
that is, the last three years. So we have to
change and we have to do all the little things

(03:26):
really really well. And it's not like a monumental change,
but you know, we we got to find a way
to break through. So we got to find ways to
do something different, tackle a.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Block in the first quarter or something.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Maybe we're doing something different, like with our schedule this week, right,
Like last year we changed some stuff up based upon
after the year before, right, and we changed stuff this
year based upon last year. So we're always trying to
improve and find the best way to do something. And
I think we have a really good plan for our
schedule this week with you know, because it's a crazy week, right,
and you know, and our guys are locked in the

(04:00):
ray role, right, Like we explained the schedule why we're
doing things, and they're like, yeah, coach, we got you,
coach ready.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
And one of the hardest things about the last three years,
obviously winning the region. We were right there in each game,
I mean right there for the taking. It wasn't like, hey,
we lost you know, forty two to seven, great year,
you know, I mean in your mind the whole time, right,
and it's been that way and everybody, you know, we
wish that things could be different, but you know, you

(04:26):
can't change the past. You can just just write the future.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
We just learned from it and hopefully it makes it
that much sweeter after Friday. But you know, we got
a tall task at hand, and we got a great
practice each and every day this week and be focused.
And you know, when you get to the final four, man,
like I mean, the teams just get better and better
and better.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Right.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
So you know, the Centerville Elks, they're a really proud
football program and they're they're physical, they're aggressive, and you know,
we're gonna have a work cutout for him.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
So they've had our moments with us, so it's time
to be locked and and do a little payback. So so
a coach, always thankful that we get to do this. Uh,
obviously thankful for our military. It's a great week with
it with it being thanksgiving, so much to be thankful for,
and you know, so much to be thankful for about
more or high school, but the but the reality is,

(05:16):
you know, I look at what being most thankful for
is not so much the school, but just the community
and all the people, and that's that's what's so special.
So it's a lot, a lot of thanks for that.
This week little extra and just Thanksgiving mess up any
of the plans with the kids being I mean, as
far as you know, I'm not worried about Thanksgiving dinner
and stuff. But as far as practice schedule does it

(05:36):
does it make it just different? I mean you have
to make some adjusts.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Different for a lot of people. The good thing for
us is it's been different all year long, you know
what I mean. So I think that's what we're we've
embraced and they're used to change. And to be honest,
the playoffs has been the most consistent schedule had.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Right right every Friday, just get on a bus.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
The travel has been great, right. We went to Mount
Saint Joe twice. That's a forty five minute drive, which
is shorter than a lot of our other games. And Mason,
that's been that's been a dream.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
All right.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
We're twenty minutes right, So the travel and logistics for
the playoffs have been awesome. And then we got lucky
where you know, we're playing at Princeton. That's the place
we've played before. We played once this year already. So
how about this. We go from playing in ten different
stadiums the first ten games and now in the playoffs,
we've played in every single place twice.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Yeah, that's that's awesome.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
So so that's what it is. So that doesn't mean anything.
I mean, you just got you still gotta go show
up and it'll be a rocking, rocking craw.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
My advice is, let's take care of business. Let's go
play at a totally different stadium next week. How about that?
How about that? All right, let's not get ahead of ourselves.
We'll come back and talk about the big victory against
the Saint Xavier Bombers after we take a short break.
As you're listening to the Bert Bathy Andy Show, sponsored
by Call Me and Shepherd Realtors and heard here on

(07:46):
was was A was a tough game to broadcast a
little bit. It was a it was a tight game,
you know, and we'll we'll walk through it. But you know,
certainly at after the first half, if it didn't seem
like we had any panic. It just seemed like we
just needed to get back to doing what we do.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
Yeah. Yeah, first half was really frustrating for a lot
of reasons. We were just shooting ourselves on the foot.
And that was the message in chapel that morning was
the only thing that can hold us back is us right.
If everyone does their job, the scoreboard takes care of
it stuff. And that's not meant to be sound arrogant
or anything. It's just that's our message to our guy

(08:25):
so they don't play outside themselves. Just focus on your
job on that play like it has its own place
in history, and go do your job. And we didn't
do that right. Like, we get the ball first and
I thought we were starting a good drive and we
had a third down. We felt good about.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
The first down call and we got a first down.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
And we liked the call that we had and then
snap goes over our quarterbacks at right and it just
you know, it just happened, right, So then a minus
twenty one yard loss and then we punt. It's not
a great punt, but so they they're Jews. They got
some excitement and they're moving down the field and they
had some good runs on us. Give credit to our
defense for a whole the field goal absolutely.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Because thirteen plays fifty eight yards, taking up seven minutes
and twenty two seconds. Yeah, and they bend and bend
and they end up having going away with three points.
I mean right there. So that's us win.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Well, if you look at all the games that have
been close that we've had, it's come down the red
zone offense, red zone defense. Right, Like, say, next the
first time we played them, they had a chance to
tie the game, we held them in the field goals
twenty twenty four, we go scored going a half, it's
thirty five twenty four. Again Saint Ed's I think we
made him kick a field goal once. And then we

(09:32):
also had the turnover in the end zone with the
pick that took us out. And then we go and
score fourteen point swing. Every time we were in the
red zone we were able to score yep, three for three,
So that that just changes things. And then the same
thing with Princeton this last week, right like they did
a chance to tie the game out a halftime, they don't.
They kick a field goal. It's fourteen ten, we go

(09:53):
score twenty one to ten. It just changes the momentum
of the game. And same thing here they kick, they
kicked that field goal, we go score. We're up seven.
I mean we're up seven three. Excuse me? Now they
we go back and forth a little bit.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
And interestingly enough, I mean Matt has a two yard
rush on that, which I think kind of surprised him
because he really hasn't done much of, you know, let's say,
scramble for first downs, and now there hasn't been much
of a need for it.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
To be quite honest, there hasn't. And the look was there,
so he took advantage of it. And it's been a
long time coming. I mean, he he did that. What's
funny is he did that in practice twice this week
where he pulled it and scored, So he was ready
for it, and he was he was he was ready
for the look and ready to execuse. A really good
job on his part. That's just how the situation hasn't

(10:39):
happened to him that much.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
But so five plays sixty eight yards took him, took
a minute and forty six seconds. Now, the only thing
is that took us right to the end of the
first quarter. Yeah, yeah, the first quarter is one in
the books.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Yeah, it was. It was so fast and like even
after we scored, I didn't realize like the first quarter
was over and you look back up at the clocks, like, oh,
we're flipping fields because we got a kick. And it
just happened so fast, and they're plan. They were executing
their game plan, which it seemed like to keep us
off the field and have these sustained long drives. And
that next drive they converted two fourth downs, which were huge,

(11:12):
and then they got the big third and fifteen. You know,
so like little things like that right, Like, we're not
doing our job where it's third and fifteen. Let them
catch the hitch, we'll tacklem. It's fourth down, right, that's
a long fourth down conversion. Little things like that. So
then they go up and it's you know, seventeen fourteen,
and we have a chance to tie the game or

(11:32):
at least kick a you know whatever at the end
of the half, and we don't do a good job
on offense and going at halftime and it's seventeen fourteen,
and you know, the message at halftime was really just like,
we don't need to change anything, just do your job.
Our response is what has to change now. On defense,
we adjusted a little bit, but that's within our game
plan already, so it wasn't like a massive change of

(11:53):
what we did. But I was really proud of our
response at a halftime. And then that goal line Dan
was huge. So our defense shut them out in the
second half, and.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
It seemed like coming out of the half, I mean,
all of a sudden, the defensive line, our defensive line,
they seemed like they were possessed. Yeah, and they were.
They were in the backfield and just being disruptive, and we're.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
Finally getting some havoc plays and getting some TFLs and
putting them in long situations, which with their offense, that
any offense it's hard to be behind the sticks, but
especially in a more running offense, it's hard to behind
the sticks. And they still made it interesting and converted
and had some good drives, but we finally got stops
and able to get the ball back and then we

(12:38):
were able to put the ball on the painting and
take the lead.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
So we stopped them on their first drive in the
second half. Then we get the ball and it's kind
of like, okay, hey, now it's our turn. But then
we go three plays right, so you know it's nip
and tuck. Obviously we're down at that point. Uh, we
get and then we get the ball back and coach,
I know we were driving. We completed a pass to
Fogler and then it was interesting you took a time out,

(13:04):
did you just like not like what you saw rhythm
or something.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
I didn't like to look at all. It was that
the drive where Javon had the big play too. Was
that the fifty six yarder?

Speaker 3 (13:14):
Yeah? I think it. Well, yeah, Tyler had a four
yard run and then they threw that ball out and
then I broke a couple of hours.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
Like that throw by Matt was incredible right between catch
by Javon was classic Javon right and then he but
it was a fifty six yard gain. I just didn't
want to overlook that because that throw was incredible and
they're like, most high school kids can't make that throw.
There's a lot of college guys that can't make that throw.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
We'll seeing some of the highlights on some of the
throws and the tight any areas only where our guy
can catch it. It's like, honestly, coach, I mean it's
it's kind of headshake.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
Yeah, it was.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
It's the whole unit getting it done. Matt's had the time,
but man, he puts it right there, and the guys
are the guys are making the catch.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
And they were they were doing a good job closing
some of the windows that we thought we were going
to have. Those windows were way more open the first
time we played, right, so they did a good job
closing them. And like that's why Matt had the that's
why he had the confidence to make the throw to
begin with. But I mean that's just all talent on
his part, and and talent on Javon but made a
big play and then we tried to take a shot

(14:16):
and then he scrambles hits the fogler and then we
had the reverse to fogler. I think, so we're rolling now,
and we took the time out because we caught a
play expecting a certain look. We didn't get it, and
that was the look that we were pretty confident we
were gonna get. So that's why we took the time out,
just to rearrange. And then he made a throw to

(14:36):
Cooper the.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
Touchdowns, so you know, take the lead there, and then uh,
you know, the set X gets the ball and uh,
you know they're they're starting to drive down and I
thought one of the real important plays of the game
was on first down, the three yard TfL tackle for

(14:59):
law Us by Christian Harris. I think Lincoln Murphy were
in each I mean all of a sudden that because
it seemed like they weren't behind the chains a lot,
they were ahead of it a little bit. Now they're behind,
and it just seemed like now they had to make
some plays and then the two incomplete passes and then
we get the ball back.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
And that's what's hard is I mean, you can be
running the ball, running the ball, running the ball, you know,
for a really good drive, and it just takes one
play for a TfL. Like those negative plays are so
huge and that's why all the analytics track that stuff
because when you get one negative play, like the chance
of continuing that drive are really really hard. So that

(15:36):
was a huge play by Christian and he really turned
it on that second half. Man he was a stud.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
Oh well, and he and all his guys and then
we get the ball back and then right out of
the shoot, Tyler busted for twenty. Man he is running hard.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
Yeah, and we were running hard, were trying to grind
it out, like we weren't really having the success that
we wanted to running the ball. We had our chances
and our opportunities, but like we weren't really hitting it.
It wasn't like really just gelling like we wanted to.
And then after that, like he was, he was rolling
right and I think he had like three.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
Big runs, ran for twenty, ran for two, and then
that was the end of the quarter, so we switched sides.
He comes right out of the shoot a fourteen yard
gain and then four yards and that was the play
where Matt went down and we was crazy.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
Okay, it's crap, that's all it was. But he got
hit late, which I was upset about, like they should
have that should have been a penalty. They went low
and they hit him late like and.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
I watched I watched the play down field or as
it happened, and then all of a sudden, it.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
Was yeah because it was a read and he made
a good read and he handed off the Tyler and
and that's how he was able to squirt through there
because the d N was high and wide and you know,
Tyler made a great run and Matt made a great
read on it.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
So grand Emory steps in and just how about that?
That was awesome? And I saw the change again from
a totally far away because we were on the visit.
We were behind the uh we were on the visitor
side press box, so we could see our fan, which
is great, but it's kind of like Matt just went
up to him and tapped him. It was almost like, hey, thanks, bro,
came back in and started rolling again.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
They're really they're really good friends. And Grant's awesome. He
does a great job being prepared and every time we
have all our meetings and you know, Grant's in there,
Matt's in there, Coach K, myself, Nick Monterrey, the young freshman,
like he's in there. When we have these meetings about
what calls we like and stuff like that, and then
on the bus every single Friday when we're heading to
the game, we go over the call sheet again, and

(17:38):
you know, I got Matt on one side, I got
Grand on the other, and then Coach Daware and Coach
K right there and we just review the entire play
call sheet of like what we like, what we're looking for,
and and they and Grant's chiming in, Matt's chiming in,
and it's it's very much a conversation between all of us,
which I've really enjoyed.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
And then you have the freshman kind of like seeing
this and being like, I like this.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
He's learning. Yeah, he's learning how like the how to
do it, you know what I mean? And so that
quarterback room is is really special. It's a lot of fun.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
There you go. So Matt comes in and right away
seventeen yard completion, uh right down to uh Cooper again
and uh oh.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
Yeah that was out the third down, the third yeah,
the third medium, Yeah, yep, right across the middle.

Speaker 3 (18:23):
And then Tyler had a rush and there was no
gain and they called a personal faut Was that a face? Man?
I know it was a personal I think it.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
Was a makeup call from like the missed one on
Matt too, honestly, if I had to guess, so I'll
take it.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
Yeah, things even out again and then again Tyler runs
for ten more yards yep, and gets it down to
the man. I thought he was I score, and then
then he goes in. He did a little like bicycle
kick in the in the air well.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
They aligned in a way that we've they've never aligned
like that before, and they cut the front, which they
all dove at our lot o lines knees. I've never
seen them.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
Do that.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
On the goal line right like, So that was that
was like their adjustment to what we were doing. And
then so Tyler recognized that from the front, so he
kind of pre snap knew where he was gonna take it, and.

Speaker 3 (19:15):
That just to take the lineman out and then have
your line back.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
It's a strategy a lot of people have seen, but
we're usually aware of it, and you know, we'll call
plays to counteract that, you know what I mean, Like
when they knowse dive or they root hog or however
you want to describe that, like you just try to
call cause of pile when they're cutting down at the
the goal line. There's some teams that do that and
you can see it, but we I haven't seen them

(19:40):
do that before. So based on the front and then
they cut and Tyler's able to it was really smart
by him and his path that get in the end zone.

Speaker 3 (19:48):
So coach, you know we're back. You know we're back
with the lead. Uh twenty one seventeen and uh then
Saint X tries one, does a nice little drive and
they get They do fifteen plays sixty four yards and
I have to think they would wish they could have
that sequence back as far as how that happened, as

(20:10):
far as and honestly, Chase herb Street looked as good
as I've ever seen him play.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
I mean, he's a wire. Yeah, yeah, he's a he's
a stud. He's a warrior, like he has no quittingam.
You can tell his teammates believe in them. You can
tell they he makes other people around them better. And
if I had to guess, I bet he's a really
hard worker in the weight room. And I bet he
had a.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
Really obviously year in the job back because they took
him out of the job last year late in the year,
and and you know, some kids would quit, and it was.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
Like, how resilient too, you know what I mean? And
in today's day and age where a lot of people say,
you have every right to be mad, but like from
an outsider's perspective, it looked like he just put his
head down, went the work yep. So from an outside
I really respect that.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
So so they're they're working their way down. They get
down to first and goal at the five, and then
he picks up four yards Herb Street and they ran
right up to the line and on third, which I
thought that was a little interesting because it kind of
just I mean, they just went thinking the quick setup
and they're gonna just ram it in. Didn't happen. And

(21:16):
then part two they did it again and they all set.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
Out to our d line. I mean, Lucas Sternborough, Christian Harrison, Turkey,
you know, getting that push yep, Lincoln Murphy jumping over
the pile, pulling him down. And then Jonah Hayes is
the one who really stopped it, running his feet and
you know, hit him with his chest and drove him back,
and then they did it again.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
Awesome job well and again really for the defense as
fast as the off the offense knows what they're gonna
try to do. Defense, man, you gotta you know, we'll
get there and go. But it just seemed a little disorganized.
I bet you they wish they had that whole secret.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
Oh I bet they did too. Yeah, but they I
bet they've scored on that a handful of times too.
But we do the same thing, so our defense is
prepared to get lined up fast and then have to perform.
And just that that's there's no strategy right there, that's
just prette strength. That was you know, they won that
in the weight room, right.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
So that would have been their opportunity really to get
back into the game. Of course, we get the ball,
we're pinning back at the one, and uh, it's like
the Tyler Joscelyn show, Tyler for four, Tyler for eight,
Tyler eight yard run.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
That eight yard run should have been like a two
or three yard run, right, And he kept pushing the
pile and then you saw Chuck Powell push it, You
saw Jeremiah Bola push it. That was a really cool
for a first down. To push it for a first down,
that was huge.

Speaker 3 (22:32):
So he went four, he went eight for the first down.
Seven four gets the first down. Uh for two uh.
Then he went for one and then had a loss
of one. And that brought us the situation we talked
about earlier with the punt. So and of course, you
know with a punter, you always get number one. They
have to have great hands, obviously Joe Von does. And

(22:53):
you know, it just took a while to get out
of there. And that was kind of the the most
absolute worst case scenario that ever could open. I mean,
if it was blocked and covered up, they'd still have
to burn time.

Speaker 1 (23:03):
Yeah, in hindsight's twenty twenty, you know, you look back
and you always think like, hey, what what could we
have done? You know, for we're fortunate enough to learn
the lesson and still win the game, yes, and so
that lesson, you know, now you really examine everything and
you make sure that you're not putting that situation again.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
So all of a sudden, now it's coming down to
an on side kick. Yep, and the kick happens, and
you know it did got it did get bounced right now,
honestly from our vantage point we were on the other side,
look like they got it and it from our vantage
point it did. It was like heart just kind of
skipped the beat type thing. But then I saw all
of our all of our guys.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
Daily came out of nowhere and got it. Yep, just
and he just had a pick on the two point
play too, if you remember that like early on, which
made it uh, because they would have got that then
they just need a field goal.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
Well, my heart kind of went back into rhythm, uh
once I saw everybody on our line, because you know,
everyone's still down on the on the ground and obviously
the X people weren't going crazy. So without seeing really
who had the ball, I kind of figured out it was, hey,
that's our ball and it's covered up, and then just
had to uh had to finish it out.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
It's gCO football right there. It's just like whatever. It
ain't easy, impossible, can't. I mean, it can happen at
a time like the game is not over until it
says zero zero zero, And you know I've played say
next four times now, and it gets harder and harder everything.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
It certainly got interesting coach to put it in the
win column and it's time to move on. So we'll
put that one to bed, so that takes us to
the punching the ticket to the final four as Region
four will take on Region two and upstep the Centerville Elks,
and we'll come back and do a little preview with that.

I'm Jeff Schneedle with Comyan Shepherd Realtors and Muller nineteen
eighty four class. And this is a Thanksgiving Final four addition,

(26:13):
and our upcoming opponent is someone we haven't played in
recent years, but our paths have crossed over the years.
Coach with the Centerville Elks, and they come in as
co champions of their league, the ge WALK, the Greater
Western Ohio Conference, as they tied for first with a

(26:34):
six to one record. They also had the pleasure of
playing a league opponent for the regional final, as they
took down Dayton Wayne last week by a score of
twenty three to fourteen. They had beaten Wayne also earlier
in the year, actually a couple of weeks, right, I
guess it was their last game of the fourteen.

Speaker 1 (26:54):
Yeah, they had to play Springbrook think is very much
like us. They had to play Springboro twice as well,
like how we had to play Princeton.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
Yeah, so they doubling up with teams.

Speaker 1 (27:04):
And the g WALK is good conference too, Like Yes,
I recruited that conference for a number of years and
just really really talented players and they're good coaches and
they're tough like, so they do everything the right way
when it comes to like managing your football program, Like
they lift waights hard, they run hard, like they check
all this boxes.

Speaker 3 (27:25):
Yeah, they're they're outstanding programs in the g Walk. And
and it's more of a run heavy league, it seems
like this year as far as what the g WALK does.
So the Elks come in and they are on a
nine game winning streak, and ge said, sounds familiar having
a nice long win streak. But you know, and coaches,

(27:47):
as you mentioned, throughout the year, you know, teams kind
of evolved, so you can't really go I mean, I
know the Bombers beat them earlier in the year. They
were two and three at one time, and uh now
there whatever, their total record is eleven and three.

Speaker 1 (28:03):
Well, shoot, we were won in three last year, right,
you know what I mean, Like we were wonning three
and you know we end up going to the semi finals.
So like you just throw a lot of stuff out
the window. Teams of all, they get better, right, Like
their personnel has changed, you know, throughout the year, and
you know they're playing good ball right now. Their defense
plays is a ton of confidence. They fly to the football.
Their effort on defense is really admirable and they do

(28:27):
a great job there and they got really good players.
They play really really hard, and you know, they have
a coach that is an alumni there, so there's a
lot of pride and not just winning, but just how
the program is run, like doing it the right way.
His dad was the head coach there, he played there,
now he's there, so there's gonna be a ton of
you know, tender love and care in that program for

(28:48):
them to do it the right way. And you can
just see that and how they play. They play hard,
they're aggressive, they take chances, and they do the same
thing on offense right like they're gonna run the football
and they're gonna smack in the mouth and you know
once you hold it on that they're gonna give you
a different look and you know, take a shot.

Speaker 3 (29:08):
Well, coach. There's a lot of alumni that have felt
the effects of being knocked out of the playoffs by
the Elks, So I know they are going to be
looking very forward to having our guys get things taken
care of. And uh, you know, you get to this
point now, the weather is going to be it's going
to be colder, but it seems like it's going to
be dry. Last week kind of had that.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
It's a ten percent rain like all week, and it
rained that whole day game. So like, whatever the weather says,
I don't believe it.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
I was in the press box, so I was.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
But here's the thing, it doesn't matter, right like, it
doesn't matter. On Thursday we got all that snow, we
still went out in practice right like, and we made
sure we did that so we could handle a wet
ball and handle a snowy ball, and that stuff doesn't
affect our receivers, doesn't affect Matt definitely doesn't affect our defense.
So you know, whatever it is, it is, and we'll.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
The same for both teams absolutely and our broadcasting crew
as we find out we get to be out in
the elements, so we're gonna be outside. Yeah, so uh,
I'm gonna see if I can bring my fire pit
in the court of Wood to keep the troops warm
because we had to just stand there. We can't move around.

Speaker 1 (30:17):
But you're gonna be right off the highway and all
that wins gonna be coming. You're gonna be You're gonna, yeah,
you're gonna You're gonna have to toughen up.

Speaker 3 (30:24):
Man, we will. I'll be up there with no shirt on.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
Now that's not pushing so but there's gonna be kids
there too.

Speaker 3 (30:31):
Yeah, exactly, So coach, it's gonna be uh, it's gonna
be a very uh well attended game, probably another sellout
and you know, a trip to go to the state championship.
So obviously, as we've talked before, this is what the
kids have worked for and and uh, you know, it's
it's just taking one more game and one more step, yep.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
Just one game of time that you don't got to
do anything outside your elements and just be you and
let it.

Speaker 3 (30:56):
Rip and get over this little hurdle. We gon so
common day. So we're gonna do it. We've been there
and now we just got to break through. As the
Crusaders look to start hunting season a little bit earlier
with maybe we're camo, get some cameo up, we'll know
what we're doing. Yeah, take down, take down the Elks

(31:20):
anyway you can. So coach, always appreciate your time. I
know it's a hectic week and you know, kind of
a crazy week, but just keep everything everything grounded, stay
on course and let's go get another one on Friday.

Speaker 1 (31:32):
A man, thanks Man, I appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
