Schneiedel with the class of nineteen eighty four and with

(00:38):
Koby and Shepherd Reeltors. And it's my favorite time of
the week because I always get to check in here
with coach Bathyannie coach from one week to the next.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
How are we doing, Sneeze, how we doing?

Speaker 3 (00:50):
We We're one more week closer to game day, man
milf for coming up, and then we got Maslin next week.
And tell you what before, I told our guys yesterday
that in about a week we're prepping for printing. When
you think of it like that, it's coming fast.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Well, the mole are faithful. You know, they have the
twenty third of August circled. I mean that that got
circled when that day was announced. Yep, the super faithful
will probably be at the scrimmages and in between There'm
sure you're just gonna have a myriad of things, yeah,
to sort out just uh, you know, just the logistics

(01:27):
so to speak. But uh, you know, just we're we're
all looking forward to it, and it's uh, you know
now it's uh, it's it's really what two plus weeks away.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yeah, I know, it's unbelievable. So we got Milford tomorrow
and a scrimmage. We got it here on campus, which
is really really cool, and we're doing that night instead
of earlier in the day, and that just timed up better,
I think with the schedule of what we're doing.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Is at an all level scrimmage too.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Yeah, I mean so freshman JV Varsity.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Freshman start at fourish.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
Uh, therefore four or five and six.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Okay, yeah, great, getting the more faithfully and they know,
I know, I checked that freshman schedule. They don't have
any scrimmages on there.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
I said, well, yeah, it's all together, so it's five
and so that's awesome.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
I'm sure there'll be people here and anxious to see
the blue and gold. But before we get going with
the show, coaches, a little recap from this past Saturday
Victory Day. What an awesome day. Yeah, you know, and
it's one thing for the kids that come up to
Moler and they're a crusader.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
For the day.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
But Coach, really the joy I saw where it was
really in your players and coaches, just the excitement and
just how cool it is to see just great big
smiles on these kids' faces.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Yeah, the players, coaches and Barrett Cohen really make the
day with everything going, and the cheerleaders too, I mean,
just everyone involved jumps in and they make the event
what it is. It starts off with the cheerleaders creating
that tunnel and creating all the excitement, and our guys
cheering everyone on. And even when they're introduced to the

(03:01):
campers coming in, and they do a really good job
of squatting down to their level, looking them in the eye,
talking clearly, and being very warm and genuine and welcoming.
For even the parents that haven't done it before and
they're coming in they might be a little apprehensive about
what's about to take place, and to ease their nerves
and calm them down and create an environment where their

(03:24):
kid can feel accepted and then just go be themselves.
I think makes it all worthwhile. And by the time
we get to everyone's favorite part, which is the mock
touchdowns in the mock game, Barrett just takes it to
another level with his m scene and his announcement of
the kids and just how he just adds so much
to the environment and it just really makes it a

(03:46):
special day.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Not just the touchdowns but the defensive stops.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Oh yeah, we added that that was the first time
fun we ever, first first time for a couple of things.
We had our first cheerleading touchdown right by We had
two cheerleaders who were participating, Amelia and Kennedy, and they
both got the score touchdowns, which was really really cool.
And then we had our first defensive stand with Luke Monterrey,

(04:11):
younger brother of Nick, and he just wanted to tackle somebody,
so we gave him the chance to tackle Lane and
Adams or Dante Ware, I forget.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Who it was.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Did you tell your players that you get back in
the weight room after getting knocked now.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Because we said our defense when when when the kids
are on offense, we say no havoc, no havoc. We're
going to let them score. And then when the defense
is up, we say all the havoc that you got.
So they do a good job with just having energy.
And I was worried about some of our guys just
exerting too much after all that, because that was a
long week. They had lived with on on Monday and

(04:45):
then acclamation for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and then Friday was
the first day of PAD. Saturday we scrimmaged against each
other and then that night was victory Day. So our
guys were pretty toasted after that.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
But Coach brought the juiceless, endless energy. Yeah, it was
It was fun.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
It was also it was also neat seeing the the
kids that participated off like with the players just kind
of just goofing around and and uh, you know, just
tossing the ball around or hitting hit the tackling dummies.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
So this is the fun.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
The third year we've done this, and usually the kids
all they want to do is just go score touchdowns
and they're they're waiting in line, and this year a
lot of them were just having fun with their their
can't buddy and they're just running around having fun. So
I had to actually go find kids to come through
the touchdown after a while because they're having so much
fun with everyone else, which is fine because this is
their day. And I tell our players that whatever they

(05:37):
want to do, they get to do. We have a
general plan, but it's their day and if they want
to divert from the plan, then we do it and
we make it the best day possible.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Coach Ogle Tree driving the light, Campbell giving rides.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
It was.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
It was all fun. Yeah, great, that's a classic.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
The kids always usually love that, especially my cousins who
come and participate. They one of them came up and
asked who was in charge of the golf cart and
I said something. I said, well I am, and he said,
well I want to ride.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
I said, you know, wit your turn. But it was
a lot of fun. It was a ton of fun.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
And the weather certainly cooperated a break break in the
heat because uh, you know, we all know how much
fun it is being up on that turf with with
extreme heat.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
So last year it was extremely hot. So this year
was much more pleasant.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
Beautiful day and Coach uh you know from so many
people here at Molar just thank you for bringing that
great tradition here because it is really it's a beautiful thing.
And you know, just seeing kids with smiles on their faces.
That's that's about. That's about says it all.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
I got to give a shout out to a lot
of people who who helped make that day possible. My
wife is really the one who's the brains behind the
operation and getting everything going and getting the medals made,
getting the T shirts made, doing all that. Sephanie Gurky
came back and helped out pass out jerseys to.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
All the players. Again.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
The cheerleaders do a phenomenal job. President Niaus was there,
Barry Cohen im seeing it, Miss Tammy taking pictures. The
cheerleading coaches who have they're all bought into it as well,
and they're looking forward to it every single year. Our
players are coaches. I hope. I'm not forgetting anyone else,

(07:18):
but just just a really great day overall, and a
lot of people coming together to make it happen.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
Very well run and just a great day, great great
day to be a crusader.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
All right, let's take a break here. We'll come back

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Crusaders get all the coverage right here on w mo
OE and the Buller Broadcasting Network. Welcome back to w
MOE and the Molar Broadcasting Network. You're listening to the
Bert Bathyanni Show, which features the head coach of the

(09:08):
Moeller Football Crusaders, Bert Bathy Annie. The show is sponsored
by Comy and Shepherd Reeltors, and I'm your host, Jeff
Schneedle with Koby and Shepherd Realtors. But almost just as
important with the class of nineteen eighty four, and I'm
here with coach Bathy Annie and coach just to kind
of recap the past week. The official start of football

(09:29):
practice August first, so I'm sure the kids probably were
raring to go to to make some contact.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
Yep, they're ready to row.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
And when you go the whole summer, and actually I'll
tell you what, it really starts back in January with
the weightlifting morning lifting and then conditioning and then skill
sessions in the spring are combine day and then when
you get to the summer, really you're not skipping a beat.
I mean, our guys are waking up early in the morning.
They just don't have school and they bust their tails

(09:59):
all through and that's more skill development. And then once
we get to July, that's when we do our skelly.
We have helmets on and we're building up to the season,
and that last week of July is you know what
we label acclimation period where you start adding the pads
on and the physicality up and and once August first hits,
that's the first day you're allowed to go live contact.

(10:20):
So that was that was a fun day. Those the
energetic day. Our guys are itching to do it because
there's a lot of make believe plays going on beforehand
where some guys thought they broke a tackle and they
probably didn't, and some guys probably thought they made the
tackle and they didn't, and we thought we had it
blocked up correctly and we didn't, and.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
Guys salivating, geez, I wish I could lower the boom here.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
And every all all that stuff gets settled when the
ball has to get put on the ground. And that
happened on Friday and Saturday, and we got the scrimmage
and you get to see you guys go out and
make play, so which was a lot of fun. And
then there's some guys that just step up in that
moment where it gets a little bit more physical and
they start making play. So it's always good to see

(11:01):
who steps up from that perspective too.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
But you go ahead and we start for real and
just over two weeks and coach from a from a
coach's standpoint, is is it cool kind of seeing I
guess the anticipation of the kids of like kind of
what's what's going to be coming down the pike. I mean,
obviously we're gonna be scrimmaging, you know, a really good
Milford program on Friday night, and kind of anticipation is, hey,

(11:25):
I don't want to be hitting people with blue and
gold on on it. Someone with a different jersey.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Yeah, I don't.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
I don't know what word you describe it as. Because
there is the anticipation, there's also that that that feeling
of like, man, I'm tired of hitting the same guys
over and over. I'm tired of seeing the same schemes
over and over. You want to just play someone else.
So there's that balance of there's that anticipation that's an

(11:51):
excitement to go play another opponent, and there's that wear
and tear of just like we're we're going against the
same people over and over again as well. So it's
good to go against one that you don't really know
a lot about. And some of our guys know, you know,
the Milford players pretty well because they grew up in
that area, but other guys don't at all. So it's
good to go against someone that has a different, different
offense than you, different defense than you, different players than you, obviously,

(12:14):
and you get to go kind of get a better
barometer of where you're at right now.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
Is it correct to look at the Milford scrimmage as
more of a controlled scrimmage? Yeah, I mean just a
certain amount of plays and alternate you know, the ball.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
And uh yeah, there's no time on the clock or
anything like that. I mean, there's a general amount of
time you want to get the scrimmage in, but there's
a script and there's a plant of action. And that's
why I like going against coach Crippo because he's been
in the GCL before at LaSalle and at Elder and
obviously he's a phenomenal coach and took Milford ten and
oh I think two years ago, and they're a really

(12:46):
really good football team. They're always well coached, and you
like doing those controlled scrimmages with someone that you trust,
right because it's about keeping the players safe, keeping them healthy,
and really just leaving with the idea like, hey, this
is what we need to work on, this is what
we're good at, and then having a better indicator about
where your team is at at that point moving forward.

(13:08):
So that's that's really a big thing now, is trying
to get a lot of those questions answered as you
head into the next scrimmage, which is more of a
mock game, and you're really trying to find tune stuff
before you go, and that like the last dress rehearsal
before you go into the first game of the season, and.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
Then it's for real. Yep, that's for real, and we're
getting there.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
So seems so far away in January and February. Now
it's right on the doorstep.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
I would say to my wife this morning, this is
the fastest summer I think we've ever had. And I
think everyone probably thinks that as their kids get older,
scholars get.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
Called getting old. Coach, it's called getting old.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
It's it's like we're busier than ever with our kids
growing up, and there were more activities, and you're you're
trying to find a way to logistical be in a
million places at once. But it's been I think that's
also designs. It's a lot of fun. That means you're busy.
So if summer's going by fast, I means you're doing
a lot of as I know certainly our football team
has and my family has, so we're we're kind of

(14:05):
ready for the fall to come come back in action.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
Downtime is not really a slogan for you at this time.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
No, I don't think there is such a thing.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
All the anticipation's growing.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
So let's take a break here as you're listening to
the bird Bath, the anti show sponsored by Comy and

gonna try to make a move.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
He does, and he shakes and makes for a Molar touchdown.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
Our preparation prepares us for our purpose.

Speaker 3 (15:38):

Speaker 2 (15:54):
You are tuned in to w MOE and the Molar
Broadcasting Network, and specifically you're listening to the Fathy Annie Show,
which features the head coach of the Moeler Football Crusaders,
Bert Bethynnie. I'm Jeff Schneedle class of nineteen eighty four
and this show is sponsored by Kobe and Shepherd Realtors.
I'm also a part of that contingent as well, coach.

(16:15):
As we're getting into near the beginning of the regular season,
do we fall into a little bit of a pattern
as far as what the kit you know, what happens
as far as practice schedule, and you know, certainly you
know everybody's gonna kick most everybody will kick off the
Friday night before we play Saturday, but then the following

(16:36):
week we also come back on Saturday. So no, really,
helter skelter, You can fall into a.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
Little bit of a pattern here early on.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
I think that the one consistency for us is inconsistency
just for the amount of games that we play and
how crazy it is we do. That that does help us,
Like from your standpoint, the first two weeks, it's more
of a college schedule, and we still try to keep
the same rhythm of everything where when you play a game,
you have the day off the next day, and then

(17:05):
the day after that is where you're reviewing the film,
you're lifting, you're prepping that body to be ready for
the next practice day, which is really your first install day,
and that's your CNN downs that we call them, where
it's first and ten, second and medium, their favorite plays,
our favorite plays, what we want to do, that base
game plan, and then you get in the more situational

(17:25):
stuff as you go when you talk third down, goal line,
red zone, short yardage, all that stuff. And then now
so you're doing special teams each week as well, So
we tried to mirror that rhythm this week. So we've
been in the morning all summer. Once we get to
that first week of August, we moved to the afternoons,

(17:47):
so it's hotter. We want to acclimate to the heat
even more, and we want to get in that afternoon rhythm,
afternoon schedule where our guys usually get it out of
two forty we meet at three. So right now we're
meeting at three. We have meetings, we go practice, we lift,
and then they're out by seven thirty. So we're trying
to keep that same schedule right now for these next
two weeks, and then when school starts, they've had two

(18:09):
weeks of that rhythm and hopefully allows them to be
a little bit more I want to say comfortable, but
in a in a groove by the time school starts.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
Coach going back, you say you're you know, you're practicing
all the their plays, your your plays. I tell you
mean you just don't show up on on date day
and just just let's just tee it up and kick
the let's just go see what Let's just see what happens.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
I wish, I wish it was that easy. There's a
lot of hard work in the dark with our players
and coaches that create that product. And sometimes it might
not look like there is, but there's a lot of
hard work that goes into it regardless.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
Does it keep you up at night with the thought
of you might have missed something? Yeah, all the time. Yeah,
that's a legit question. I knew what I do, what
the answer was gonna be.

Speaker 2 (18:50):
Yeah, So at the time, you know, I mean, you're
preparing and hey, you're you're also dealing with teenagers too,
so so let's not forget that. I mean, we're not
dealing with you know, twenty eight year old you know,
football players. You're dealing with. There's a lot intangibles.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
Yeah, there's a You're not dealing with a grown man
who as a family to provide for. You're dealing with
you know, young people who're they're playing for a lot
of reasons, and you know number one is probably experienced
the brotherhood and their love of football. So you get
those fourteen to eighteen year olds and your main job
is developing as men and providing a good experience is

(19:24):
going to last them for a lifetime, to help them
later on in life. That's the main thing. And then
if you do it the right way. Our process is
that the result will lead to victories and success on
the football field. But if you have that process, the
results will come.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
You got you got it, And it's just as important
in the first quarter as it is in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
So just got to get it done.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
So coach, we appreciate all the time, effort and energy
you and your staff and the players and all the
support system is doing. And uh, there's just there's not
many things like Moler football.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
No, there just isn't. And I know you.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
Realize that, but it's just it just galvanizes people all
across the country.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
And you can see that with how our lyftothon went
this past week. So that was the kickoff really of
acclamation and camp and I believe the final number was
we raised about one hundred and five thousand dollars within
our Lyftathon. Last year we did about ninety. The year
before that we didn't do a lyftathon. It was the
raffle tickets and I believe that number was like seventy

(20:28):
three thousand. So if you look at this football team,
this senior class, in the last three years, this football
team has been able to raise a quarter of a
million dollars in fundraising and a lot of that goes
into two player fees and then to have a healthy
budget for the football team and stuff like that. But
I mean, it just shows, it goes to show the
amount of care that goes in this football program and

(20:51):
people want to see it be successful and they want
to they want to donate and feel like they're part
of it too. So really proud of our guys.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
It's a big Molar family, yep.

Speaker 3 (20:59):
Amen.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
And the fund gets to start another year. So what
was started in the sixties, we just kind of keep
trying to carry on the tradition.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
Keep passing the torch and the next the next one
is trying to you know, leave their legacy, but then
also stand the shoulders of the legacy that was left
by the men before them.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
All Right.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
That is the head coach of Molar Football, Coach Bert Bathy.
And as you're listening to the Bert Bathy Andy Show, coach,
always appreciate your time and thanks. I know you got
a whole myriad of things going on and just appreciate
a few minutes.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
But we'll be back into another one next week.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
Thanks brother Goby.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
There you go. That is Coach Burt Bathy Andy.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
As you're listening to the Bert pathy Andy Show, sponsored
by Comy and Shepherd Realtors, I'm Jeff Schneidel, class of
nineteen eighty four and with Koby and Shepherd Realtors, and
it's heard here on w MOOE and the Moler Broadcasting Network.
