Speaker 1 (00:00):
Success in life company? What is it you want? Give
your best effort, show me what you got. If you
want to be a success you have.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
It's the Burt Panty Any Coaches Shoe presented by Koche
and Shepherd Ruders. And here's your host, Jeff Schiedel and
order hit football coach Hurt at the Inn.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
We're here at the Silver Spring House says it is
Molar night taking over and I'm taking over here for
Barrett Cohen as We're gonna do a unique version of
the Burt pathy Annie Show with some of the coaches
filling in. As we do a show every week, but
this is not any normal week.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
This is the grand kickoff to the season.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
It's also King of the Block and it is just
a great time for Moler football. I'm Jeff Schneiedel. I
am the voice of the Crusaders. A lot of you
here are usually at the game, so you don't get
to hear, but you do hear the Coach Show, and
that is the Burt Paty and Show.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Always great to catch up with the coach. Coach, how
you doing tonight? And he's good to see it.
Speaker 4 (01:07):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
This is a little bit different environment, a little bit
different than our you know, we kind of do it,
but change pace. You know what it's.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
It's it's like you guys playing in different stadiums every week.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
You just got to adjust and figure it out. Just
adapt and go. Coach, we'll get to you in just
a second.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
But also have coach Michael Blum and also coach Nick
Sharp here that will join us here shortly. But coach,
it's uh, teams getting ready. We're all getting fired up.
And you know, this is this is what everybody has
worked for all year is coming into this. It's not
just an opening game, but also the importance especially with
(01:45):
the alumni, this king of the Block now that we've
renewed with with Princeton, that's a great rivalry. But what
a fun week and it's and it's it's here now. Yeah,
it's great for both teams.
Speaker 5 (01:55):
It's great for Moler, it's great for Princeton, it's great
for the city of Cincinnati. Just two iconic teams and
I kind of game that was the game across the
country for so many years and we're trying to make
it that again. So I know it's always listed is
one of the games to watch. So these are the
games you lift all them weights for, and you run
all them sprints for. But then when that moment comes,
(02:16):
you just treat it like any other game and try
to take them one play at a time and just
let that stuff come to you and then when your
opportunity comes, take advantage.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Coach, we renewed the rivalry starting last year. I think
the last time it was actually on the schedule was
two thousand and seven. Obviously we didn't meet them a
couple of years prior in the playoffs, but it's great
that it's on the schedule. A little unique, a little
twist is it's that first game right out of the shoot.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Yeah, Princeton's always.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Good, Princeton's always athletic, Princeton's always quick, and we're gonna
have a lot of fun things to look forward to.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:48):
I mean, they got a great football team. They were
pretty senior driven last year, a lot like us. So
there's gonna be a ton of new faces out on
the football field. But the one thing that's still the
same is they got a ton of playmakers and they
got a really good football team. So we're excited to
play them, and we got to be completely prepared and
have a good week of practice to put a good
product out on the field.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
A lot of teams will start on Friday night, but
they're gonna have this Marquee game specialty on Saturday, so
I'm sure the stands will be packed, not just with
Moler Princeton fans, but really people who want to come
out and see a great ball game. But I'm sure
there's gonna be people from other schools wanting to come
see the squads.
Speaker 5 (03:24):
Yes, it's the kickoff for the season, so obviously there's
gonna be a lot of excitement just to get the
season rolling. But like you said, what I think is
cool is everyone's going to get that out of the
way on Friday and then our game is i think
the only game really going on on Saturday. I don't
really know what everyone else's schedules like, but when you
have that game kind of by itself on Saturday, I
think it's gonna draw a.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Pretty huge crowd.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
So you kind of have to adjust a little bit
these first two weeks because we have Saturday games.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
But I mean, the kids from last year, they know
the route too used to it. That's no big deal
for us.
Speaker 5 (03:55):
We have a template for this, We have a plan
for this and we've been through before and our staff
is able to adapt for whatever anything there's schedule wise,
especially after last year with all the different you know,
road trips that we have. But playing a Saturday game
is no big deal for us.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
Let's get to your assistant coaches here that helped lead
the way. Coach Blum with the offense, Coach Sharp with
the defense. Let's start with the offense. Coach had a
great offensive line last year. We had some kids come
in as far as filling in here and there, but
kind of starting a new and chance to build another
dynamic offensive line.
Speaker 6 (04:31):
Absolutely, we got a great group up front this year
from the senior driven just leadership all offseason and in
a weight room, working hard and really buying into the
process throughout the summer.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
But as coach did, a lot of new faces across.
Speaker 6 (04:43):
The board on the offense and throughout the team, and
it's just really helpful. Is that the challenge is to
get better each week and play our best ball at
the end of the season.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
So that's that's the goal.
Speaker 6 (04:53):
Keeps it simple, and you know, the goal is to
also eliminate any kind of negative plays and run the
football and protect the quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Now, I've been doing this for several years. So if
this was your first rodeo as far as assembling an
offensive line, I might be a little nervous, but you've
been down this road several times and you know what
it takes. So young men looking good this year for
the offensive line.
Speaker 6 (05:14):
Yeah, there's a lot of talent in the room, a
lot of guys with a really big upside, and you
know you just got to stay healthy and keep it competitive.
Is that there's seven eight guys right now that have
been showing that they have the ability to go play
on Saturday night against Princeton. So keep the rotation and
again keeps guys sharp, keep guys focused, and really creates
(05:36):
that competitive spirit within the unit to play at your
very best.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
And let's just round out the offense both coaches.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
I mean, we got some great skill players coming back,
so that that certainly helps a lot of experience, especially
in the backfield and wide receivers. We lost some great receivers,
but we also have some great guys coming back as well.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
There's a.
Speaker 5 (05:56):
Decent amount of guys last year that Matt was able
to spread the ball around, and obviously you lost three
of them and Matt Rowman and Javon but Carson Ko's
coming back, had a great junior year, Landon Adams coming
back with a great junior year as well. You add
in Cooper McCutcheon and Sam Hamilton with the tight ends,
and then our running back room really came back from
(06:17):
last year. I mean when you have Gray Low, Coach Tyler, Jocelyn,
Dante Ware and we have a lot of young guys
that have stepped up as well, young softmorores. Jack like
that running back room is crazy deep, and our tight
end room is crazy deep too with Jackson, Meerdank and
Tristan Jackson and you know Will Ollman as well, and
(06:37):
Qui Mahoney right like, we got a lot of guys
that have a lot of upside that we're excited about.
And then at receiver, we have a cool group of
guys that have been rotating quite a bit throughout the
year that have had a really good summer. So we're
excited to see everyone get on the field and do
the Thing'd.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
Be great to see the offense displayed. Now, let's flip
over to coach Sharp and coach uh As as it
happens in high school football, kids move on you got
kids coming up.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Tell us a little bit about the defense this year. Yeah,
but kids move on. But that's why you do it.
Speaker 7 (07:05):
You know, we really have about three major contributors coming back.
But the big good thing is being here for a
few years now that even the young guys and you know,
this is the only scheme that they know. The seniors,
you know, my first year here was when they were sophomores.
They bought in. So whether they've really been big contributors
on the field or not, it's the fact that you know,
they know the culture, they know the scheme, they know
what we're doing. So excited for them to get their opportunities.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
Does it make you feel more comfortable being here a
couple of years that the kids have grown into it.
Speaker 7 (07:31):
Yes, absolutely, And it's not only just that, it's just
the relationships that you built and you know how to
coach them. You know what they need and how to
drive them. And that's a big thing that continuity.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Brings opening day exciting.
Speaker 7 (07:41):
Oh always. You know, that's where we do it for
a coach already mentioned it. You know, you go through
the summer runs, a list that happens fast. You know,
it's out of nowhere that all of a sudden, Hey,
it's game week.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
We're here.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
It seems like it's two months away. It's four now now,
it's it's right upon us. It's good stuff. So and
what a crowd here here at the Silver Spring Houses.
We have the Moler Football kickoff Show and coaches, just
go do your thing on Saturday and get the kids
ready and we'll always appreciate, always appreciate your time at
getting out the Moller Nation.

We're back here at the Silver spring House, as it
is Molar Night here it's the Silver Spring House. Also,
we're doing a special edition of the Coach Bert Pathiani
Show as we we are now welcoming in several of
the captains for the Moler Crusaders. And let's just run
through as far as the captains of this year, Matt Ponatowski,
(12:10):
Cooper McCutcheon, Grant Emery Tyler, Jocelyn Christian Harris, Connor Cuzzo,
and Andrew stoffco.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Did I miss anybody?
Speaker 2 (12:20):
You did?
Speaker 4 (12:20):
Not?
Speaker 1 (12:20):
Sounds good? Did I pronounce everybody's names right? Because I
have to do that for the game. So mine sounded good?
Speaker 3 (12:26):
Yeah, Okay, I know a couple of years ago he
had a little uh. No one told me, huh, it's
all good. No it didn't huh it did not, sir?
Speaker 1 (12:34):
All right, all right, all.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
Right, guys, let's start off here with Matt. Matt, you're
a attorney captain, starting a little bit of a new tradition.
I see Andrew Stoffko being a junior. Used to never
be juniors that were captains. But you guys all earned it.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 9 (12:49):
I think you know Andrew this year, he showed a
lot of maturity at a young age, and you know
he definitely deserves it. And it's it's the best man
up for the job. You know, I don't think really
the grade really matters. So if sophomore is the best
guy for the for the spot, then he's going to
get it. And you know, this year it was Andrew
(13:10):
being a junior. So you know, I think it's mainly seniors,
but you know, last few years we've been sneaking in
a few juniors.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
Sure.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
Well, it's uh, it's certainly an honor because it's it's
done in house, correct, It's it's the whole, it's the whole,
moler the team, vote, team, and it's uh that you know,
you got to make it happen. So Grant, I understand.
Are you flipping sides of the ball this year?
Speaker 10 (13:32):
Yes, sir, I was a quarterback last year the year before,
but switching over to defense now.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Sure, how are you comfortable over there? Are you liking it? Yeah?
Loving it? That safety so far?
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Well, I think we had a young man that did
that a couple of years ago. That is done very
very well. So you're looking to keep that tradition going
a little different view. Did you have you played defense before?
Speaker 1 (13:50):
I have in the pass? Yes, okay, so you're good
with it? Yeah, nothing new, nothing new? Is it is?
Speaker 11 (13:56):
It?
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Is it hard garden passes and from this guy and
what this guy's gonna catch?
Speaker 1 (14:01):
Yeah, it is. Uh, it was pretty good to go against, right, Yeah,
good competition every day.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
All right, Well, what's I'll be calling your name a
lot with some tackles and well hopefully the guys up
front will tackle you.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
Just come up with the with the help, right right, Yeah,
there you go. There you go perfect? All right, Cooper McCutcheon, sir,
how you doing? I'm great? How are you all right?
Speaker 11 (14:20):
So?
Speaker 1 (14:21):
Uh, first year captain as well? Yes, sir? What an honor?
Speaker 3 (14:25):
Is that?
Speaker 12 (14:25):
Super excited? It's it's an honor. It was awesome to
be voted by the team to be a captain.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
All right.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
So you've also committed to go down down South to
play for kind of a little famous coach. But we're
not gonna worry about that this year, right, We're gonna
take care of.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
Business lessary focused on the season at hand right now.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
All right, So Uh, offensively, I'm Matt, you and uh,
you and Coop here have a lot nice little connection.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
How nice is that? After I mean, this is really
your third year of doing this.
Speaker 9 (14:55):
Yeah, it's kind of like when Joe Burrow said that
about Jamar Chase. He's just gonna be down there somewhere.
It's kind of like, you know, throw it up and
Cooper's got a chance to come down with it. So
it makes my job a lot easier and uh kind
of like a you know, when you're in trouble, just
get it to him.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
Somehow. I love hearing that.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
Well, And you have guys like Cooper that have you know,
obviously caught a lot of passes. Last year we lost
some great receivers, but also we have some great receivers
coming back.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
And the one thing that is nice is the ball
gets spread around the line.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
Know, Cooper, you probably throw it throw number eight more, definitely,
but it's nice that it spreads it around because certainly
keeps that defense uh a little bit concerned.
Speaker 9 (15:35):
Yeah, I mean I tell our guys, Uh, there's you
got to like take every rep like you're gonna get
the ball. Because I feel like I can I can
do some things that just are kind of out of
the ordinary and you don't expect them. So there's not
a throw in the field that I I Am not
confident in making. So you know, definitely in practice that
you know, I'm trying things and seeing how they work,
(15:56):
and you know, in the game, uh, I think I
think the practice reps kind of just translate and we
all have a bunch of confidence and the ball can
really go anywhere at any time.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
Well, we look forward to all you guys being great
representatives as you have been obviously for the school you get.
You know, this isn't something taken lightly and obviously everyone
getting that. But uh, if you could say being a
captain in one word, what would that be, Matt will
start with you, put you on the spot, the hot
seat like a defensive alignment, chasing chasing after you.
Speaker 9 (16:26):
One word to describe being a captain.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Opportunity.
Speaker 9 (16:32):
And I think opportunity is just uh an opportunity to
to be able to lead a team and be the
voice of the team. So to be able to do
it for a second years is super. It's just a
blessing and look look forward to doing it.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Grant you got a little extra time so you got,
you got, you got to go through the metal dictionary there,
give us, give us something with that.
Speaker 10 (16:54):
I definitely think it's a privilege to be a captain,
you know, being voted by your uh you know, your
teammates to bake. I think that it's for sure privilege
for all of us to be able to represent our
team and you know, the games and practice and you
know where what everybody looks up to.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
You know where the standard.
Speaker 10 (17:11):
We try to keep us as the standard, so everybody
can you know, play up to us. So I think
that privilege would be a good word to describe that.
Speaker 12 (17:19):
I think, uh, serve would be a good word because
I think all captains their job is to serve the
team and be the voice for the guys that don't
necessarily have a voice on the team. Kind of just
be that that mediator between Coach B and all the
kids on the team. So, I mean serving is definitely
one of the main things that all captains have to do.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
And kind of like the leaders like the house system,
like you are in school, you got to you got
to bring the younger guys along. So you guys, are
you guys excited that finally, after all the work it's like, man,
it's like game.
Speaker 9 (17:46):
Week, This is like this, this is what you go for, right, Yeah,
I think it's what you've been working working on since January,
every every workout that nobody sees that's behind the scenes.
It all kind of lets go and we we go
put it on the field for other people to see.
H come Saturday.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
And I know last year maybe didn't end the way
we liked it, but still a heck of a year
and a lot of great.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
Things out of that. But it seems like you guys
are on a little bit of a mission. This year.
Got some fire in our stomach. Okay, all right, you
guys ready for this week? Yes, sir? T it up?
Ye wish we were playing tomorrow. Oh, I wish we're
playing right now.
Speaker 3 (18:23):
Doesn't make any any big deal that there's there's a
bunch of games on Friday, and as I call it,
the Marquee game of the weekend is on Saturday.
Speaker 9 (18:32):
Yeah, everybody comes to watch us on Saturday. You know,
there's a bunch of games to go to on Friday,
but you know you got one big one on Saturday
to come watch.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
All right, guys, it's a lot of work, you guys
have done great and congrats on being captains and the
leaders out there and bring bring the young ins along
and bring everybody along, right, yes, sir, one game at
a time. Just just printed it on our mind, right yes,
being all right, guys, thanks for joining us.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
Thank you, thank you. Those are three of them.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
All are Chap Days Matt Bonatowski, Grant Emory and Cooper McCutcheon.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
Their helmets on and actually see their faces.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
Joining me right now are three more captains, Tyler, Jocelyn, Connor,
Cuzzo and Christian Harris.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
Gentlemen, it's game week. Are we good? Yes?
Speaker 7 (21:21):
Sir?
Speaker 1 (21:21):
Are we excited? Ready?
Speaker 3 (21:23):
All right, Tyler, let's start with you as far as
we actually all three of you doing the games the
last couple of years, and I know all three of
you the last two years. I've called you names a lot,
so pretty special. Now it's your senior year. Tell me,
tell me how everything's progressed getting here to your senior
year and becoming a captain.
Speaker 13 (21:41):
Yeah, I'd say I've had a different road than these
two to my right. I've struggled a lot to even
get on the field. I started as a quarterback behind Matt,
and I realized I had no chance of getting on
the field. We have some great competition in the QB room,
so I did what I was good at, switch to
(22:02):
running back, and I'm very happy to be able.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
To contribute today. He did pretty good with him, Thank you,
Thank you.
Speaker 13 (22:08):
I've always been a running quarterback, so I had to
learn to run low, lower my shoulder a little bit,
not just run out of bounds. But I think it's
been a blessing to play on such a good team
with great o'lignment in front of me.
Speaker 1 (22:23):
All right, Connor Cuzzo.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
Yeah, over on the defensive side, huh, I know, some
big interceptions, some big hits over the years and now
it's finally your senior year. What what what are you
thinking now? And being a captain and coming into the
first first game of the of the year.
Speaker 11 (22:39):
Yeah, I mean being a captain, he has a lot
of responsibility. We have a lot to make sure that
we need to do to get the team ready each week.
And you know, when you do something for two or
three years, like you start to understand the game a
lot better and you start to see things differently. So
you know, be in the third year on bars year
helps to you know, be able to look at the
game in a way if someone has done it.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
As far as doing the games, I got you guys
are keeping your numbers from last year or you're changing
your numbers. Keep it out, okay, thirty six, all right,
and that's Christian. Harris is Christian. You're number ninety seven, correct?
Speaker 1 (23:18):
All right?
Speaker 3 (23:18):
That's all good? And uh, I mean the broadcaster needs
some help here. I mean, you know, when to good
seniors and everyone changes numbers. You got to try to
figure it out. But we get it done. So Christian again,
as all three of you guy playing time as sophomores
and a lot as juniors, Uh, what's it mean to you?
Speaker 1 (23:33):
As far as being a captain and here here at
moll Or High School.
Speaker 11 (23:36):
It means a lot.
Speaker 14 (23:37):
You know, this school is good around history. I mean,
you know are six. You know we're gonna be in
the history books.
Speaker 13 (23:44):
You know.
Speaker 14 (23:44):
So it's it's amazing.
Speaker 13 (23:46):
And you know.
Speaker 14 (23:48):
How we do this year is gonna build off of us.
So we go, We're gonna have to do a lot
of great things. You know, coach young players and coolso
coaching the linebackers, Tyler, coaching running backs and you know
me d Liman. You know, having a lot of new
d linemen, it's gonna be great. So trying to teach
them guys to do what's right and do their win
(24:11):
eleven because if you do your one eleven, you're gonna
win big games.
Speaker 3 (24:14):
So feel responsibility about bringing the younger the younger pops
into into getting some playing time.
Speaker 14 (24:20):
Yep in you know, owding each other accountable.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
There you go, all right, I put everybody on the
spot the first go around. I don't know if you
heard it, but I said, give me one word what
it means Moller High School senior year and being a
captain Tyler, We're gonna start with you.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
I'd say dedication.
Speaker 11 (24:36):
I was here.
Speaker 13 (24:37):
I was at Moler for about fourteen hours today. Uh
so we started off with a big senior thing. But
you got to learn your playbook. You gotta constantly be
putting yourself in the position to execute at the highest level.
Speaker 11 (24:52):
So if that means you're going.
Speaker 13 (24:54):
Through the hallways thinking about how you would juke the
guy right in front of you, or you know, visualizing
how you're going to win on the field when you
get a little prior time or whatever, it's all every
minute is only gonna make you better and more prepared
for a big game like Princeton, King on the Block,
uh gcl games, all that stuff.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
It really matters.
Speaker 13 (25:15):
So you got to constantly be working if you want
to succeed at the highest level.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
Awesome, Connor.
Speaker 11 (25:20):
I'll go back to a word I used it earlier,
which is responsibility. You know, if things aren't going well,
we're gonna be the first guys that people come to.
People looked at fat and it's up to us to
make sure we did our guys back on track, you know,
make sure we're doing the little thing and right cleaning
up the buses after games, stand late to clean up
the locker room. You know, those are all little things.
Speaker 3 (25:38):
And oh you guys don't get a free pass because
you're a captain. Yeah no, no, you gotta make sure
it gets done, right.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
Yeah, a baby's.
Speaker 11 (25:46):
Gonna nobody's gonna see those things outside of, you know,
our locker room. But we gotta make sure it gets done.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
It's the little things, right, ye sir? All right, Christian
one word putting it on the spot.
Speaker 14 (25:56):
Grind, because it's a grind.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
You know last year we went sixteen weeks. Yeah, well
really eighteen weeks scrimmas. Let's well, let's do this again.
Yeah no, huh so it's.
Speaker 14 (26:05):
Gonna be your grind. Yeah, you know, even when your
body's hurt him, you got to push through it. So
is this really a grind?
Speaker 1 (26:13):
All right? So h but this is your fourth year
through it? So uh so?
Speaker 3 (26:17):
Uh time time has gone kind of quick here at
Molar High School. That's the guys gonna finish it off, right.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Oh yeah for sure. Huh sure, I'm finished business.
Speaker 3 (26:26):
All right, Well, let's let's keep it focused. So that
is three more of the captains here for the twenty
twenty five edition of the Molar Crusaders, Tyler, Jocelyn, Connor, Cuzzo,
Christian Harris, thanks guys for joining in, and uh have
a great season, but uh let's just take care of
the first week.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
Thanks for joining us.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
All Right, we're gonna take a short break and then
we're gonna be back as it's a special edition of
the Burt Mathiani Show from the Silver Spring House, and
we'll take we'll be right back a local friend structure
