Head football coach Burt Pathy.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
W MOE and the Moller Broadcasting Network present the Burt
Bathyany Show featuring the head coach of Moeler Football, Bert Bathynni.
The show is sponsored by Comy and Shepherd Reeltors. I'm
Jeff Schneidel with Comy and Shepherd Reeltors, but also with
the Molar class of nineteen eighty four. It's always great
to catch up with our favorite football coach, Bert Bathyany. Coach,
(00:42):
how we doing this week?
Speaker 1 (00:43):
Doing good? Man? How are you? Good morning?
Speaker 3 (00:45):
We're doing good? Uh. Obviously we just want to acknowledge
the passing of Dylan Straw, you know, and you know,
I know it's a tough week here at Molar. I
know we lost a tough game at Elder. You know.
The other thing I think about, I mean he was
on the field with his team, you know, performing at
Elder as well, and kind of you know, I mean,
(01:07):
we have the Molar family, but in a way, you know,
it's their family, just like there's a football family, a
volleyball family, you know, with that kind of a family
within a family. But it hurts for.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
All of us. Yeah, I mean, what do you say
in a moment like that to make it, you know,
feel better. It's just that's a real tragedy and on
Friday night, obviously you feel terrible about the losses, but
then you have real tragedy take place and you hate that.
It takes something like that to put things in perspective.
(01:37):
But our hearts go out to Dylan and his family,
to the man, to the volleyball team, to the theater department.
He was obviously had a huge impact on the people
that he was around, and it was highly involved in
a lot of different things here. So he was ingrained
and Molar and.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
You know, seem like every picture I've seen of him
is just smile and then you just kind of has
that kind of welcoming look about them. But you know,
you know, coach, I mean, I know we're here to
talk about football, but you know, the Molar mission is
to develop remarkable men, and this is a situation for
the young men, I mean, it might be hard to understand,
it might be hard to process, hard to deal with,
(02:18):
you know, and they're all going to handle it differently.
Do you do you address the team? Do you just
say hey if you need to talk or anything like that.
I mean it, you know sometimes you know, as adults,
we can kind of understand things maybe a little bit
better not accept them as well. But for the young men,
it just seems like, you know, you don't want them
to mask you know, what they're what they're feeling, and
(02:39):
what could affect them.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Yeah. I mean, as you grow older and you live
a longer life, like you experience heartache, you experience death,
you know more just because you've had more years in
the light on this earth. But you know, there's a
classmate at such a young age that's that's tough, and
you're you're gonna start feelings that you've probably never really
felt before, and you don't know how to you know,
(03:03):
operate with them. So I think Molar has done an
incredible job of providing help with counseling and having open
dialogue and encouraging the men at this school to to
talk about it and not that not bury it down
deep and let it fester up. And that goes with
all of our players. You you reach out and say that, hey,
(03:24):
if everyone handles this kind of stuff in a different way,
and if you're feeling something you want to talk about it,
we're we're here to help. And the one thing about
Molar is there's endless amount of support to help you
with whatever you're going on, with whatever's going on in
your life. And I think that starts with administration and
the culture of the school to be able to provide
that for our students so they can grow and develop
(03:46):
and be remarkable men. But you know, it's been a
tough week here at more Right, it's been tough. So
everyone's banded together and the community has shown their love
and support for one another. And yeah, I mean you
hear it from you know, Elder Lassal and say next,
so you know, and we and we do the same
(04:06):
for them as well as we all all want together
in it together. And I end up being speechless in
times like this because you know, it's hard. What do
you say. Your heart goes out to the family, heart
goes out to the people who are you know, really
really close to Dylan, and you go home and you
just hug your family a little bit tighter that night,
and you hug your team a little bit tighter and
(04:27):
puts things in perspective.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
It's hard to say, but the one thing is sometimes
just being there.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
It's just what's important. So coach, as we mentioned, you know,
we had the tough loss Friday at the pit. We'll
talk about that coming up, but you know what I mean,
just classic GCL battle and and and an incredible environment.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Yeah, I mean it was ten thousand, it was I mean,
when's the last time they sold out? I think two
thousand and nine. It was a really cool environment and
it was a fun game to play in. Don't like
the outcome, but we'll learn from it, we'll grow from it,
we'll get better, and hats off to them. I think
the one thing I think you can say about Elder
when you look at their schedule is they've been able
(05:08):
to win gritty games and they've been close and they've
been able to find a way to win. And that's
what happened on on on Friday.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Right.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
There's a lot of chances for us to you know,
make a comeback, and it just didn't happen. So We've
got to learn from and move on and then get
better for the next time.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
We'll take our first break, we'll come back to talk
about our visit over to the pit as. You're listening

four and coach. We went over to the pit and
first we talked about the environment, but just a lot
of energy. People just into it. And I've seen a
lot of comments where people made the comment that they
haven't seen high school football games to that level for years,
where not so much the game the game, yes, but
(07:38):
just the environment and just the Friday night feel.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Yeah. I mean it's special that the gCO is just
different in Cincinnati football, I think is different than a
lot of other places. What a cool experience for our guys,
did they get to playing a game like that?
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Right?
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Even though the result wasn't what we wanted, right, the
outcome wasn't what we wanted, it was a cool experience.
They got the plane. I thought, I've only played in
the pit twice now, but I remember it being pretty
packed the first time as well, and it sounds like
this last time was even more so than the time before.
There's a lot of energy, but it's iconic. It's really cool,
(08:14):
and you know, it definitely makes it. I mean, it's
definitely a challenge to go on road and play against
good teams like that, and.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Coach, you know we're on the road obviously where the
visitors were. You know, the game started out, I mean
a great drive thirteen plays, eighty two yards, took up
over half the first quarter and culminated with the six
yard touchdown to Cooper McCutcheon. And wow, it seemed like
things were things were looking good for us.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
Yeah. We were converted on four third downs on that
drive and able to take up a lot of clock.
We were fishing. I didn't think like we I think
we were good on first and second down as much
on that drive, but we were able to convert on
third down, which you know obviously has a huge impact
in the game, and they were able to do that
on there and as well as to convert those tough
third downs and extend those drives. Then our defense goes
(09:03):
and get the three and out and we get the
ball back ball position, and then we get we get
a fourth and one and they line in a way
that like kind of dared us the throw and we
threw it and probably should have just handed it off.
And you know, that's on me, just you know, with
that play call of given that option, we should just
hand it off and ran it. But that was a
huge momentum change for them because they get the holding
(09:24):
call and then now we're punting to them, and then
they go down and score and now it's seven to seven. So, uh,
I thought that play had a pretty big impact just
from a momentum standpoint, from a mentality standpoint, And there's
a lot of moments like that in the game where
I think it could have gone one way or another
and it it just didn't and and they were able
(09:44):
to capitalize on it.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
So battle through some adversity there, but score on your
first drive, get that three and out, and in my mind,
I'm thinking as we're starting to go on this, I'm like,
if we if we pushed, if we put this in,
it's going to quiet things down a little bit and
kind of take control. Whole game would have been different.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
But I mean maybe maybe right, Like, obviously from a
mentality standpoint, you'd like to be up two scores, but
I mean, shoot, we've been down two scores the first
three games a year, right, Like in my mind, like
you play Elder and you play against that offense, they
could you never doubt you count them out without question, right,
and their quarterbacks really good and they did it really
(10:22):
and they were that number four is really good too,
So we were gonna be on edge no matter what
the score was on the scoreboard, especially in a game
like that, when you have t teams battling out for
a championship, it's it's gonna be tight, and it's you
can never you know, count them out without questions.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
And coach, you know, they came back and you know,
I mean we're leading seven to nothing after the first quarter,
I mean, just very slow, methodical game. The second quarter,
you know they you know Eastep made that that pass
to to Jackson Ruth and I thought we had really
good coverage on that.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
I mean, he made a great play, great catch, and
that why that kid's having a great season. And that
shows the trust that that quarterback has in his wide
out to be able to throw that pass. He's made
that in practice, I bet countless times he's made that
in games. Countless time to develop that trust. So and
he was rolling out to his left through it, and
(11:17):
he made a great play.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
So a little bit of back and forth, and then
you know, we're kind of backed up a little bit.
We have the we have the play matts in the
end zone and the holding penalty. I'm not questioning whether
there was a hold, but I'm sure if you looked
at the table, the holding was.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
In the in the end zone.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
So it was the right call.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
Yeah, but that's not the case. Is the first the
first play, we get a pass interference and we get
out of that that situation, But then our guard falls
down to the next play and it's first and fifteen, right,
and then another hold. Right now it's it's first and
you know, I think it was like half the distance right.
So then now right like now you're back to the
original position that you're in and that's why when you
(11:58):
scram it you're in the end zone. That's why holding happened.
So there were three or four penalties, I think in
a row. So that's obviously something we got to clean up.
And you can't blame the officials on stuff like that,
like holding happens because usually, like you, you lack technique
in some way, shape or form, and it causes you
to grab and lean and like fall and then and
(12:19):
you show the holding call. So we got to clean
that up. We got to improve and get better because
there's there's no excuses for the amount of penalties that
we had.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
So coach, you know that happens. Now we're down. You know,
we're down two points, so I mean, it's a field goal,
it's a score. We didn't take the lead. But Elder
goes down again. They get Ruth for a seven yard touchdown.
You know, they they try to kick the extra point
they miss it. That was actually pretty huge because you're
still within one score and a two to to tie. Yeah,
(12:50):
and so you know, and honestly, you know, we're down
fifteen to seven and wow, just a quick strike to
Reggie Watson. Now I think we is that play when
Elder got the defense of holding penalty, and I think
it was a series before. It just seemed like that
was the play where he got held and Matt's past,
(13:11):
you know, was too far ahead and wasn't complete, and
came right back to it in a similar play.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Similar play. It was a similar play. The big the
big part about that is they they squibbed it because
I think there was I forget how much time, maybe
like one seventeen o'clock or something like that. Maybe there
wasn't a ton of time. I can't remember exactly, but
they squib it and then Marina Middleton picks it up
and he picks up really good yards to put us
in our best field like not not our best field position,
but really good field position, you know, near midfield. And
(13:40):
then the play was you know, Reggie is like the
third option on that play, but based upon what we
were expecting, Matt knew he was probably gonna go to
him with that anticipation, so you know, Reggie creased him
down the middle and then you know Matt, Matt hit
him and.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Coach that was a thing of beauty right there.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
Yeah, that gives give them a lot of credit for
manipulating the pocket and buying enough time to then deliver
that ball and then just like that, it's you have
the chance to tie the game. And that was an
interesting situation because my philosophy is normally always take the points,
don't go for two until the fourth quarter. But going
in the halftime, you kick the field goal, you're down
(14:19):
one and you need a field goal to take the lead, right,
you go for two, you're down two, you need to
feel goal to get the lead. Right. So the analytical
book that we use, that that helps us with those decisions.
And it's not the end all be all, but it said, hey,
go for two every single time in this situation that
that doesn't tell us to do it. That just kind
of like helps confirm the thought process of going but
(14:41):
we don't get it. And you know, momentum wise, maybe
that helped a little bit. You'd much rather you know,
get the two and go in and tie, right, But
at that moment, it was like, all right, we can
go down one, we can go down too. A field
goal would still put us in a lead. If given
the opportunity, Hey let's go for it. Let's try to
gain some more momentum.
Speaker 3 (14:59):
Right, well, and then when you'd be in that position. Anyway,
if you're down one and they score and put the
extra point, then you got to go for two eventually,
so might as well just uh just go and kind
of in the rhythm how we kind of felt with uh,
you know, feeling really good, let's punch it in. Yeah,
it just didn't happen. So now we go to the
second half. We kick off and and you know, the
(15:21):
Panthers get it and you know, a huge sack by
Charlie Nelson that then all of a sudden, all of
a sudden, you know, now they got a punt now
where it's like we're gaining control right here, and then uh,
you know, we end up. I guess that was where
the wet the ball.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
It was an interesting situation because we needed a big play.
I think they had the ball like inside the twenty
or inside the twenty five. Charlie Nelson makes an incredible
play and I hate the fact that it gets negated,
just like how the outcome happened. Like there's next five plays,
but he makes a huge play, takes him out of
field goal range, and that's just such a weird situation
(16:04):
because there you're thinking, this is four down territory, right Right,
it's third down, you get a sack, Like it's fourth
and a mile. What are they looking to do? Right?
Like it's too far for a field goal? Right, you
don't want a punt, but can we throw it up
and a miracle happens when we get a catch or
do we get a pass interference? Right? So you're sitting
(16:26):
there thinking you're waiting, You're waiting, you're waiting, and it's
such a weird situation where you don't think they're gonna
punt in that situation. On a fourth down, they get
those guys out, we rush our safe punt on and
you know, Reggie has made a million plays in his
career here, and you know it's just we just called
it right. Like, here's the thing. I trust Reggie Watson
(16:47):
more than ever, and it was just one of those
plays like he's gonna cauisen. No one feels worse about
that than Reggie. And I love that kid to death,
and he's made a million plays for us and he's
gonna make a million more. And if there's one kid
I have confidence, and it is Reggie Watson. I love
that kid to death. So I hate the fact that happened,
but it is what it is, did right, then we
(17:08):
get the safety and then with that right like, we
didn't we didn't block it particularly well. We should have
made a different call. And then you know with our
running back we got to push vertical and set a
lateral and try to fight like crazy. But this there's
just a million different things that happened that led to
that one instance. And you know, we just we got
to perform better and we got to ascute better. That's
(17:28):
what it comes down to. So that all falls on me,
and we have to improve in those situations and we will.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
Just it's a game of decisions, and unfortunately it might
not have been a great decision. He runs it for
a touchdown. So the greatest things and sliced bread, I mean, yeah,
one of those things. And I did see some footage
with juice. It seemed like it seemed like they had
a little bit of his face mask. Then you know,
you really can't, you can't, you really can't go anywhere
when that happens.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Again, this all right, Like if we would have made
the right call up front and block the guy right
like that, it wouldn't have happened. And then just fighting
like crazy just to get that ball. Out of the
end zone, get it across that line right like it
is what it is, right, So we got to move
on right, like you give up two safeties and.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
Three itself and in a game, I mean, how many
times that happens and that all falls on me. Well,
but again it happens and we're still down. I mean
a touchdown you take the lead seventeen thirteen.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
So now we kick off and our kickoff team has
been dynamite all game long, like they've done a really
really really good job. Jack Malabor is kicking the ball
really well, Brody Hag Andrew stoffgo Teagan Cumberland, Caden Lost
and are running down the field making a ton of plays.
They were phenomenal in that game. That was a shining
(18:47):
light within the game. But we kick it off and
then Marina Middleton makes a heck of a play by
stripping the ball. We got momentum, Grant Emery recovers it,
and then we come out and we have a play
that we we designed it halftime and we executed them.
We fumble right and we give the ball back and
then so that's the that was like kind of the
(19:09):
name of the game is through. This game is we
had a bunch of plays that were great and you
want to honor them, but they were negated by what
it came right after, right like Nelson sack, Marino, Middleton's
strip that you know, Reggie Watson's touchdown in the two
minute row. Right Like, We've had so many moments where
we tried to gain momentum and then we lost it.
(19:31):
And that's something that we have to improve upon, is
this capitalizing on those opportunities. And I think Elder did
a good job of that and we did it right well.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
And that whole span, I mean we had to kick
off from the twenty yep, they get the ball to
forty seven, so they get pretty good field position, and
then within a span of ten seconds. The only two
fumbles in the game happened within that ten second span,
and it's like, I mean, again a crazy game. Ball
goes back to them, and then they go on a
(20:00):
twelve play sixty yard drive which again almost took half
of a quarter, five minutes and twenty six seconds, so
I mean they kind of just they took control there,
but there again we're still down by one score and
a two point conversion, so you know, I just come
away with we certainly had opportunities. It wasn't like we
were in a game where we were always down twenty
(20:22):
points and just couldn't do anything and and we couldn't
figure things out. We just it just one of those games.
It just didn't We just didn't get the things to
click our way or turn the tide. And they did.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
Yeah, and they made really good plays on third and
extra long, right. I think they converted four out of
five of third and eleven plus, which is something that
we got to focus on and get better at. And
in every aspect of the game, there was some there's
a point of emphasis that we can improve upon, and
that's that's our thought process throughout the regular season is
(20:55):
we want to play these tough teams to kind of
see what team that we have to show are maybe
our short I want to say shortcomings, but well we
have to improve upon heading into the playoffs. Right, So
that's that was evident in this game. We got to
do a better job of maintaining drives on offense and
using our technique and not getting holding calls so we
(21:15):
can give our defense a break. And on defense, we
got to do a better job on third and extra long,
Like those are things that we have to improve upon
if we want to keep going in the direction that
we want to go. And that's part of it, right,
Like it's a process to try to figure out what
we're good at, well we're not good at, and then
what we need to improve upon, so when it matters most,
we can be better in those moments.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
And coach, you know, again, we had the ball late
in the fourth quarter, we had a chance to go
to go do something. And then you know what really
hasn't happened all year is Matt getting sacked not once
but twice and obviously losing substantial yards. But I will
say east step for Elder on that sequence where we
had the punt and everything, he got sacked for twelve yards.
(22:01):
And interestingly enough, both teams had four sacks, and you know,
the two sacks that Elder got were basically the last
plays of the game, kind of the game clinching. But
uptil that point they only had two sacks. And you know,
I had people thinking, you know that, you know, our
offensive line didn't do a good job. I was like, well,
there might have been some place here and there, but
I thought they did a good job. You know, on
(22:23):
most plays.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
Yeah, I mean, I think you have to look at
the entire game to make a decision on When you're
looking at a performance, it's easy to look at the penalties.
It's easy to look at the yardage and stuff like that.
But when you watch the film everything, like there's a
different story to be told. I thought there was a
lot of good individual performances. It was a handful of
plays that we didn't execute the way that we wanted to,
(22:46):
or we had a penalty, and then that ends up
putting you behind the sticks, and then it leads right
to a tougher call in that next situation. Right, So
I don't I wouldn't say that at all, but we
we definitely have to improve in certain areas. Right, Like
we had six holding calls, I think, right, Like, you
can't do that. You just can't do that. It's hard
to win when you get six holding calls in a
(23:09):
football game. So that puts you behind the sticks and right,
and like you have an instead of first and ten,
it's first and twenty, or instead of second and eight,
it's second in eighteen. Right, Like, that's that's hard. That's
a different thought process, right, you don't And here's the thing,
is like you don't practice those situations in practice, right,
Like you don't go into a game thinking, hey, we
(23:30):
need to get better at first and twenty, we need
to get better at second and extra long. We need
you don't practice those situations because you'd like to think
that you're going to execute. Now, you still have a
plan for it. You so have plays for those situations,
like you don't like ignore them. But when you go
into a game early on in the week, it's first
and ten, second and medium, and then you go to
(23:52):
short yardage, and then you go to red zone, goal line,
and then you go to third and long and third
and medium, right, Like, you try to execute to a
point where you you don't have those penalties that puts
you in those negative situations.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
I mean, you don't line up with practice it. Okay,
we just got a ten yard holding penalty, let's back
up twenty.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
No, you do, but you don't like it's not like
a like in practice, Hey that's a hold. Hey we
got we gotta practice that situation where this young man
got a hold. They got to back up, and now
the defense gets to play with their hair on fire. Right,
you practice that, but it's it's organic you don't go
in this situation like, hey guys, we're gonna practice first
an extra long today, so we.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
We like going to the playbook when it's third and
twenty seven. I mean, yeah, you can throw the ball deep,
but you just really don't have that twenty seven yard play.
Speaker 1 (24:36):
Yeah you it's the playbook is very Your play call
sheet gets shrinks quite a bit in that situation. But
the name of the games we have to we have
to excute better right in every aspect of the game,
in every single position. There wasn't one. This is a
game where you could easily point a finger and we'll
be pointing the thumb at us and thinking about ways
(24:57):
we can get better individually within our position, what's in
our side of ball, and then that'll make us grow
and develop and get better when we keep playing later
on down the line.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
Just take care of ourselves and see what happened. So, coach,
last thing I'll say with that really two Marquee quarterbacks,
Marquee offenses. Both quarterbacks combined thirty eight of fifty four
for five touchdowns and against tough defenses. So there's no
gimmes in that both had eight incompletes. I mean it
(25:26):
was really a treat to see just such a high
level high school football game, and I think that's what
a lot of people came away with. I mean, that
was worth every dollar spent for that ticket.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
Yeah, I agree.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
All right, Well, the only thing I can say is,
let's hope we get the Panthers down the road and.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
See where we can go.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
And maybe the strange way the game we had could
kind of help us down the road. We'll we'll see
what comes. So that wraps up the GCL and the
Elder week, We're gonna come back and talk about our
upcoming opponent, the Saint Nacious Wildcats. As you're listening to
the Burt Fathyani Show, featuring the head coach of Molar Football.

M e y dot com. Go big mo. Welcome back
(27:02):
to w MOOE and the Molar Broadcasting Network. You're listening
to the Bert Pathyani Show, which features the head coach
of the Molar Fighting Crusaders, Bert Bathyani. Show is sponsored
by Coby and Shepherd Realtors, and I'm Jeff Schneedle with
Kobe and Shepherd Realtors, but first and foremost with the
class of nineteen eighty four Molar High School and always
great to be here with coach Bathyanny and coach. So
(27:25):
we got seven weeks behind us. We go to week
eight and a familiar name obviously on our schedule, Saint Ignatius.
They come in with a one in six record, But
I think it's one of these things. Let's not be
fooled because I mean, just like we do. They play
a tough schedule. Yeah, and their opponents that they have
gone one in six against are forty two and seven.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
Yeah, they play a tough schedule. They this is a
you can't let the record no dictate anything. Just like
in the GCL, you got to come right to play
they play high effort on in every phase the game.
Uh they're they're really multiple on defense, which which makes
it a challenge from that same point, right, and you know,
(28:07):
they have their tradition that they're gonna come out and
play with a ton of pride for their football team.
Like all those kids have grown up their whole life
of getting the chance to be a Wildcat and and
getting to play, you know, in that uniform. So they're
gonna come out and they're gonna play passionate football. They're
gonna be aggressive, and you know they're gonna be well
coached without question. They play like you said, they go
and they played Welsh Jesuit, they played Avon, right, they
(28:31):
play ads, they played menor they played Benny, they play
I mean they've played an incredible schedule so right, like
a couple of times it doesn't go your way, but
like they're they're gonna come right to play. There ain't
no doubt about that.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
And coach, you know you say trap game, what however
you want to look at. I mean, these are gonna
be two good programs going against each other. And coach,
it was about ten years ago, Uh, you know our
program we were we just we weren't doing so well.
I'll say, I mean, you know, five hundred whatever, or
maybe it was worse than that. But we go and
we play up at Otterbine, meet him halfway number one
(29:05):
in the state. And interesting what was with that is
we're going into that game and we were down to
our fifth quarterback.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
And at that time, it's a little different here. We
don't have anybody around us. We used to do the
coaches show on a Monday night at one of the
local establishments and the parents everyone could be there and
we would be doing that and I remember specifically asking
coach Rodenberg, Okay, so our starting quarterback at last named Bradfish.
He was a the wide receiver number eighty six, and
I said, Coach, I said, will you have Bradfish wear
(29:35):
more of a quarterback number? And he looked me dead
in the eye said, h no, he goes, I want
everyone to know we're on our fifth quarterback. He'll wear
number eighty six, which is what he did.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
Now.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
The thing was is Ignacious came in the number one
ranked team in the state and we just I think
before they even realized they were at a game, we were
up twenty plus points and we were rolling. And uh
so let's let's make sure history will not repeat itself
because this is if this is a crazy game.
Speaker 1 (30:08):
Yep, I remember, and that's been a message that we've
we've used against these guys, like I think every year
that I've been here is reminiscing that game, and we've
used that against other opponents where you just can't look
at the record and whatever you see on film. You
have to think that you're gonna get their best effort
every single time. And it doesn't matter who you play,
you're gonna get a team that's gonna play inspired football
(30:29):
and they're gonna come out and they're gonna make plays.
I think they they have a really good offense and
they're really aggressive on defense and sound on special teams.
So they're gonna travel well, they're gonna be ready, and
it's gonna be a really good football game no matter what.
It'll be fun.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
And coach, I know, always talk about the weather. We
always just to make a weather coming. But wake up
in the morning, you know you got it. Can I
have a jacket on, you know this week and you
know you kind of that that uh that fall smell,
and then it goes right there with with football, I mean,
hand in hand. It's beautiful.
Speaker 1 (30:59):
It'll be a beautiful day. We're doing our Senior Night
and we're honoring our twenty four seniors and we'll honor
our seniors in the band and the cheerleading squad as well.
We're doing it tonight instead of later on in the year,
so we can have it at a night game, right.
We want to do it, you know, and make it
really special. So we'll honor our seniors and they'll get
a chance to walk out on the field with their parents.
(31:19):
And that's a culmination of a lot of sweat, a
lot of hard work, a lot of struggle for the players,
for the families that have sacrificed to get those kids
here on time for early morning workouts and to figure
out how they're going to get home after practice before
they get their license, and you know, all the things
that go into high school football and the logistics of
(31:41):
family and this crazy, this crazy time that we have
where it's just so hard to get your kids to
all their activities on time. But it's a celebration of
our seniors, celebration of our parents, and.
Speaker 3 (31:54):
Hopefully we sent them out in the right note, and
coach that is that is what the plan for Senior Night.
But do I see a change where the skiing game
is looks like on this schedule, there's been kind of
a little bit of an adjustment.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
Wait, wait and see on that. We'll talk about that
later on when we get everything finalized.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
Fine, perfect, ye, perfect, Okay, Well, let's honor our seniors
and let's keep Dylan Strawn and his family and the
Molar community and your prayers. Is. It's a tough week
here at Molar, but you know everyone's gonna band together
and get through this. And coach, let's have a good
performance Friday night and just let it rip rip. Amen,
(32:28):
there you go. That is Bert bathy Andi. He's the
head coach of the Molar football program. As you're listening
to the Bert Bathyni Show, it's heard here on w
MOE and the Molar Broadcasting Network and sponsored by Kobe
and Shepherd Realtors. And I'm Jeff Schneedel with Kobe and
Shepherd Realtors, but also Molar Class of nineteen eighty four.
