Speaker 1 (00:51):
So, yeah, you.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
Usan stuff there in san She's getting us some hot chocolate.
We're waiting for Paul. She's going to take us through
it there, so we thought we'd let you come in
and wait with us.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Yeah, we're waiting for Paul. Here we are, guys. We're
at that Yosemite kind of kios where you can get
an adult beverage or you can get hot chocolate. But
look who missed the hot chocolate moment?
Speaker 4 (01:20):
Me?
Speaker 1 (01:20):
But that's okay, So I do want to take you
guys on a little tour while we wait for Paul.
It's dark out, but that'll add to the realistic nature
of this particular podcast, which is Susan goes to Yosemite. Now, yes, yeah,
look where we are where it's dark. You can't even
see me. There are bears here. We are to be very.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
Mindful inside Yosemite itself. It's very dark there.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Okay, yeah, it's me.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Cave. Out of the cave.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
We are actually staying officially in Curry Village. Do y'all
see that?
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Okay, we see it clearly.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Curry Village. This is and this is an ancient camp
in Yosemite. This has been here since the eighteen hundreds,
and it used to be just tents only. But of
course now we have a little bit of a lodge.
We have canvas tents, we have wooden tents. It's remarkable.
And we have a breakfast place. We have pizza. Oh,
the pizza bop the pizza here is the bomb?
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Is it great? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (02:25):
It's pizza. We look for.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Is Curry a famous person associated with Yosemite?
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Like maybe Curry and Curry Company were the original kind
of concessions in the eighteen hundreds, you know that brought
you know, the food, the drink, the whatever to the
valley for the now new tourism that Ulysseus s Grant
made happen. And then and this is this is one
of the first national parks. All yellow Stone is the
(02:53):
first one.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Just so you know, may I be blunt and ask
are we camping or are we famping?
Speaker 1 (03:03):
We're semi glamping, which means not a tent, not a cabin,
but a can this cabin if you will, Okay, I'm
gonna here's what's gonna happen hopefully for this episode everyone.
My plan is to take out take footage that Bob
will then send to our editors and they can put
(03:24):
some in here because quite frankly, we have a special
guest who happens to be up here in Yosemite at
the same time as his sister, and that would be
not other than John Patrick Cowtill and the lovely Victoria Peterson.
So we're gonna have special guests.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
It's a.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
It's a family affair. And I'm literally on the steps
of the lodge here in Curry Village.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Back up. So, so the fact that you are there, yeah,
and the fact that John and Vicky A there was
happened or this was that's just by chance.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
No plan at all. Uh, they were married in October,
so it's their anniversary and we are we do match
in that where Russ and Susan and John and Vic
go to Yosemite for anniversaries if possible, Okay, okay, So,
but I hadn't thought of it, and I only found
out by just find Like John's like, you're in town.
(04:20):
You're doing wild honey, and and I'm like, well, I
thought they were in Nashville because Dave Jenkins said they
weren't on so I just figured they were busy. Last
time I talked to him, they were there. And so
Vick's like, no, we're home and we're going to Yosemite.
I'm like what, I what dates?
Speaker 3 (04:39):
And you're gonna see them tomorrow?
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Yeah, either tomorrow or Tuesday, depending on if we can
shift a reservation at a cool well.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
It's tuesday to definitely send up a flair and if
we need to jump on and say hi, I'm sure
we can do that.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Okay, Well, and yeah, we're going to their place for
camp and everyone from Happy Together World or House a
landa out there out here with me is Bridget Mark
Vohlman's assistant and Rachel from Merch. You guys know her
and love her well. And the girls. We're having a
girl's trip in you know, Semite. We're celebrating Volman a
little bit. Wasn't a part of the plan, but it
(05:14):
became a part of the plan. And so when I
do some video and you're going to get a lot
of special guests on a non special guest podcast.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
So this is a girl trip. Yeah, And where you
are you feel absolutely in this crazy world with them
and safe at.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Can be safe as can be. I would like to report,
like Bob said that last week, we stay away from
most business, but we all know what's going on. I'm
going to tell you that this national park right now
and Yosemite is running itself very well. Things are going smoothly,
so everybody take a deep breath. Nature still awaits you
and uh no complaints on this end. And Yosemite people
(05:54):
are so caring they love their park. So everything's status
quo here. Man. You saw the the kiosk.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
My big Yosemite memory is being there a long, long
long time ago with friends and me and the two
guy friends. I was with They were throwing a hatchet
towards a tree like about whatever, you know, twenty thirty
yards whatever, real good, and they clunking it every time.
(06:25):
And I've never thrown a hatchet, but I happened to say,
give me that, and I happened to throw that thing
and I nailed it.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
You nailed it, congrats.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
The problem was all the women on the trip realized
that we were doing that with the kids around, and
we all got in trouble for throwing the hatchet to
the tree with the kids around. If it.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
But I would have been with the ladies.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
But no one will forget my hatchet throat. It was
right up there with Ed Eames and Johnny Carson.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Okay, I understand in terms of I understand what that means.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
That's awesome, Bob, I stocked me.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
I honestly didn't know you'd ever been here, that could
you know? We used to Paul and I and John
used to camp up here a lot.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
And I think the today Lodge was a big deal
up there.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Yeah, that's John and Vicki's hang and that's also John's
been going to tenay A Lodge for years and his
daughter Tanaya is named after Tonaeo Lodge.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
I knew that from the first. This was in the eighties,
I think, but yeah, but didn't Evans. And then the
big mess hall was up in a big building. Everyone
went there.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
And that's that's on the way down here to the lodge,
I mean to the valley floor. That's where we are
Thesebmity Valley floor. Although we will be exploring tomorrow. We're
going to tu Wollomney Meadows about an hour and a
half up further.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
All right, Susan froz a little bit if so that
happened and she's up in the mountain, so that's going to.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Run along with some family footage.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
So yeah, you did freeze for a minute, So it
did happen, But don't worry about.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
It, all right, all kind of I am moving a
little Bitosemite memory is is coming down the long drive down,
Uh pulled over because it was a crick A krick
was there and it was really scenic, you know, to the.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
Yeah, Ryan, the water is kind of rapiding but very low.
It's no big deal. And the kids that we almost
killed with the hatchets, they around the water and I
actually had to run between one of them and a coyote,
and I literally saved the kid from being attacked by
(08:43):
the coyote and was given credit for it. I mean,
I didn't go to the police department to get an award,
but this is what happened. Yeah, it's true.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
Well that that kind of gives you maybe a little
bit of a like a ranger status, like you know,
junior ranger, chiever, civilian status.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
My only other time was I was there during the
Fires of eighty nine and joined the force and fought
them for four months straight.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
You did not. No, Oh okay, I'm literally listening to you.
I left my person side. Let's see if we can
go inside together. I left all my stuff in because
I couldn't get on inside. Here we go. We're going
into the Yosemite right if you.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
Lose you this is great. Oh yeah, that's the big place. See,
that's what we're talking about. Very nice fireplace. Yep.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
I can't believe you're staying with me.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Yep, yeap, we can we can kind of. We see
everything beautiful. How not home. It's great. We don't we
don't really hear you, but we see you.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
Hold on, I'm coming back out.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
No, there, we hear you. This worked out great. See
Susan thought she was going to be a.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
No show because of Wi Fi.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
Out of satellite range, but you know, it all goes
up to the same satellite.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
It just depends out here of what the weather's doing
and where you're standing at any given moment. And to
let you viewers know, this could change at the drop
of a diamond, it become the Paul and Bob Show.
So I'm feeling good about this pre show show. Just
in case things go funny over here.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
Well, our guest Paul Castle is doing two minutes, okay,
and you know, if he runs into any trouble in maddress,
which can happen, and any trouble in Susan, I can
monologue for a while and take over and carry this through.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
And also let's remember we're going to be doing some
on the road footage that's going to be added.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
So well, yeah, I'm just saying, yes, I've never known
one alone. I'd be nervous. I'd drift into you.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Know, breakdown if I want to hold your hands recording.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Oh, drift into drugs and sex and politics, the three.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
Non oh my god, and you become a phenomenon and
you get your own show. And you like the no
voice of what ever.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
I don't want to be the voice of anything.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
I know you don't bother.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
I just want to be but I want to do voices.
We will have to figure that out. When to finish
the a cappella.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Oh yeah, no, we will, we will. We are going
to do everything. I have stories to tell that I
must tell you.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Ten o'clock, seven o'clock on the West Coast. Very exciting, yep.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
But meanwhile, back at.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
The lot, what watching these sports, you guys back here
on the East coast, these sports, these games are at
eight o'clock at night, at eleven thirty, watching the World Series.
I mean at eleven thirty, everybody in California is drunk,
and it has been drunk for two hours after the
World Series. It's just so n it's just wid. It's
you got to stay up and you got to be engaged.
(11:46):
And even the Central time zone, your games are late.
You sit around all morning on a Saturday Sunday waiting
for a football game. It's like what And I thought, well,
maybe a lot of mass attendance is high in those areas,
you know, right, they don't have to stay home and
they can you know, watch the football. I think that
has a lot to do with that.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
I know that the Dodgers, what what what just happened
with those guys? Did they get? Did they won yesterday?
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Right? That a girl? So word has reached the depths
of Yosemite people.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
It's because Bridget's here, Bob, She's a Dodger.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Her and that a girl and that. Yeah, the Dodgers.
It was a great game, young motive went nine innings.
Nobody does that anymore. It's been very nice, very good.
They're coming back to the Los Angeles Dodgers Stadium in
Los Angeles for tomorrow night's game at a more very
decent four pm start time for the West coast.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Oh, fantastic.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
Devan's not too bad for the East coast. Polly, and
here is our guest.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Now I won't see him unless he's talking.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
Well, he's not in yet.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
He's got to run.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
Oh I know how that works.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
Yeah, some of I'm trying not to disturb these people.
Speaker 3 (13:02):
You know, I said, maddress, you know, I see his name.
But there you.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
Said, sometimes Madress has a problem we could be experiencing.
Never never, Well, no, it's not because he has his
start starling Hi Polly.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
Yeah, he's got that.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Are you in Yosemity, Susan, Polly.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Look look look it's the lodge right behind me, people
playing games by a fire.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
Okay, well, we've been up for ten minutes.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
That shows I came early because I wasn't getting on.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
Susan's given us a tour and we we've been introducing
you as today's guest.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Okay, well, because look, look, look trying to get.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
You even didn't show up at first. You even had
the red mark through your microphone.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
Look. Look, I just want to understand. I couldn't get
on for the longest time I started, you know, so
I think once we oh god, will you go? Oh no,
come back there, you're there, No, you're gone. Okay, So anyway, Poully,
we just started in case it popped off because it couldn't.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Let's keep going. So we're on right now.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
John and Vicky are up here.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
Crazy Yeah? Is it crazy?
Speaker 3 (14:13):
I mean this is kind of weird statistically to me
that her and John and VICKI planned this trip to
Yosemite separately, never spoke to each other about it, and
Bill the same time.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
Yepdel make it. Yes, we just got back from the airport.
We came through the tunnel, spent a good ten minutes there.
Everything worked out perfectly. We got back down to the
Curry village Paul canvas tents, and we got that.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
Paul Castle and Susan Castle are Yosemite veterans to a
very deep dive way. Okay, guys, I mean I've been
there twice, but I don't even remember barely. But right,
these guys have done some serious camp in there.
Speaker 6 (14:55):
Ye.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
Maybe, Polly, we even panned for gold here, yes.
Speaker 5 (15:01):
Yes, Tyloga Pass which is a way mile Oh my god,
we're going up to.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
Historically never saw any evidence of a successful panning of
gold Yosemit, so I don't know how it turned.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Out historically low yield.
Speaker 5 (15:18):
If you went there for two weeks, okay, and all
you did for eight hours or however long you could
do it for and pan for gold, you would come
away with a palm full of gold.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
Right, that makes it worthwhile.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
Yeah, we've thought so at the time.
Speaker 5 (15:33):
You'll come back with twenty dollars worth of gold. It
sounds week handing.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
Sounds better than Vegas. At least you come back with something.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
Yes, yeah, So, Paully, we've talked a lot about Yosemite.
I think we should jet over to your floors, my friend.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Oh man, the floors are done.
Speaker 5 (15:50):
I have been painting for a week and I'm just
and I only have about an hour left to the
rest of the base.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
And man, it is tight looking and it's beauty the fall.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
If you go online put Paul Castle's floors, there is
a pictorial out there of these floors. You can't them.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
Hopefully Louns sending pictures out.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Yes, they are the.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Man, it's so cool. And the guys that did the
job were excellent.
Speaker 5 (16:19):
I mean I told them that, you know, you're the
kind of people that I would want to work with.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
Good they were. Man, it was just fantastic.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
You know, hey, I love doing the stuff they're doing.
Look at that good job. I want to do that
good job.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Yeah, yeah, I know. I know.
Speaker 5 (16:37):
It's okay though, because look at when I saw like
these guys went through and screwed off the whole floor
for squeaks. You know, we had a lot of squeaks,
and and they learned this along the road. They probably
put a whole floor in and got calls from the
people going, man, there's so many speaks. So they do
all of that before. So yeah, their prep was incredible
(16:59):
and then the products fantastic.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
We're really happy.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
It's funny. Soon as soon as I heard about it,
and then as soon as I saw the pictures, you know,
it put me right into the living room on Indian Avenue. Yes,
floor management of that when mom would have it wax
and then it'd be nice, and then it just that's
I think that must be the only place I really
experienced that kind of floor.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
Yeah, this is a kind of floor, a Sea Hunt
kind of floor.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
So we can get our socks on our feet and
pretend we're swimming in the underneath. Absolutely, man, I remember
the game well, Paulie.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
Business across the tom cruise move.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
You can do that.
Speaker 5 (17:40):
Yes, no splinter, no nothing, and there's no you know,
like if we went with real hardwood, now you're resurfacing
you know, every five years or you know, and it
can go yellow on you if the sun hits it in.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
We didn't do any of that. We went engineered hardwood,
you know, flooring.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
So came into the place painted, ready to go. They
get to put the fun stuff down and it looks.
Speaker 5 (18:06):
Yes, but then I had to wait and not do
any of the base because they were pulling the base
board up and so they were going to be putting
it back in.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Now I had to call putty and paint after that.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
Oh wow, I know what that's about.
Speaker 5 (18:21):
So but yeah, but it was great man, and man,
I can really paint a house.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
I'll tell you. I was amazed at me. I mean
my arms.
Speaker 5 (18:28):
I mean it was like might my arms just did
everything without me even thinking about it.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
It was crazy riding a bike.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
It was.
Speaker 3 (18:37):
It was weird because it was rested muscle memory, happiness.
You know, your muscles are going, oh this, I remember this.
This was This was great for you.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
It's kind of like dance.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
That's good.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
It was great. It was great.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
Listen, I got to share one thing with you, Brook
before I forget. I have figured out what plastic surgery
I am going to get.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
I mean, holy.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
Moly tell us, that's really off subject. But I just
looked like it and it reminded me because and it
used to be my ears and one is shorter, but
the movie ears yet. So see my glasses they're they're
already like.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
It are huge. Just go ahead, what do you got.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
Because I'm looking at go what what the frick is
the cave in my neck? Look, it's like a cave,
so you can go in there and live there.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
Look, oh, Bob, okay, wait, Bob, what I call that?
Speaker 3 (19:37):
I'm getting a neck pull? Look, Bob, let's do it
together together.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
But Bob, listen, it looks like you got a tricky
out of me.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
Right, yeah, it's it's a in jet. It's a cave.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
I'm seeing your cave. Mine looks like a tricky out
of me.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
I have one.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
Okay, Oh I don't have one like that.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
Let me look. Just look normal. No, Bob's cave. Okay,
you see what I'm saying. Check it out.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
I don't. I can't really see the screen.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
I watch him, watch him.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
I am seeing that. Yes, I saw that, and.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
Put him back Bob so he can see the cave.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
Well, I might do one like this.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
I think I am not even showing you what's going
on here. I brought a scarf to make sure where
you can go.
Speaker 5 (20:22):
Well, I'm going to tell you something. There's no way
I'm getting any plastic surgery. Before Susan gets it.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
I'm saying we should all go in together. Look, I'm
going to get a net.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
Hey, we can do a reality show about it. Oh God,
I lost you again. There you are.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Oh God, you could have a neck clip maybe suit
you into the back of your neck fix.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
No, no, but I will tell you this. Listen, guys,
I need your attention on this topic. Listen, listen. They
haven't Okay, Bob, they have a tape you can put
on the back of your neck.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
Now, okay, next episode, I'm going clean neck.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
No, and I'll send you a link. We're going to say, Susan,
I was going to tell him that they make a
tape to put on the back of your neck, but
he can't do it because he doesn't have long hair.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
Is go into a doctor's office and say do I
want this? And they're gonna sign me up.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
I'm going to find out how much how much it
costs for us.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
Next fraction, a next retraction procedure.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
Baby, maybe Rock would pay for it.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
Oh, I'd go in for abundance surgery first. Then if
I was going to do.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
That, you know, if we started in on Rock with
that and the guy's rocks are executive producer of everything.
If if we start lining up medically in front of
this guy, he's gonna regret.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
They lasted too long.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
It's true, speaking of rock. We're all going to go
back together into the studio, guys, and finishing there the
Pella project. It's it's we just are afraid to look
at any calendar right now regarding not.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
Right this second, not today.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
I got the guts to study the canter about that.
And I'm going I'm calling Brad and omnivore the president.
I'm going, so what are you thinking like twenty thirty?
Speaker 1 (22:19):
You know, wait, listen, guys, I saw Brad than that
Brad came to the Warren Zevon tribute. I saw Bradley right.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
Well, Susan, how was that, Susan?
Speaker 1 (22:29):
Call you? It was magical?
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Was it wild? Honey?
Speaker 1 (22:32):
I mean, come on, it was wild, honey. And Jackson
was there and Warren's son, Jordan, who is a peach
of a guy, and it was wonderful.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
And it was Crystal there as she passed.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
No crystals not they broke up a long time ago.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
Oh and did you get Crystal?
Speaker 1 (22:53):
No, she wasn't there. No, In fact, I didn't really
do anything. I'm not sure.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
She the mother of the boy, and see the mother
of warn.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
He's not Jordan's mom. No, Jordan was born before Ariel.
Ariel was Crystal's daughter. That's who Billy gave my bikes
away to. Yeah, yeah, okay, but she was not there,
but his son was there. And Lowell, George's daughter sang
and she was wonderful. And a guy and a chip
(23:23):
did a duet of it. It was cool and she
played violent, kind of punk violin. It was kind of cool.
I of course did Mohammed and it was so fun.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Susan U by the way, everyone you can find Susan's
performance of Mohammed's radio above, written by wars About online
now and it's very good, very good.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
Robert.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
Where's that at b.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
It's on the cowcil somebody posted.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
On the castle.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Okay, that's good, that's good.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
And what about what Marshall crinchyall sing? What did he handle? Oh?
Speaker 1 (24:00):
Shoot? What did he was? No, we didn't see sleep
John bids Warren.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
Zevon songop job, that's beach Boy night.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
I can't remember. I can't remember such details, Robert.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
Yeah, okay.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
If I had set there were twenty five guests.
Speaker 3 (24:20):
Aren't you a podcast host? Oh? Just saying sorry, didn't
do that.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
I wasn't prepared for class. I wouldn't even think I
was going to make it here by a glacier.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
She walked into that place with kind of those people
that document their life and the cameras going in front
of her, and she's just allD it. Hello, Hi, Marsha's
council here today.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
You are you're here with me by the vending machine here,
say something to the camera please, I will call the
go pro.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
Right, go pro? Some like it with a hat?
Speaker 2 (24:52):
H yeah, you can wear it on the hat. You
can wear it right here and just talk with everybody.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
Hey, would you I like the light that the vending
machine's giving?
Speaker 3 (25:04):
Yes, yes, I'd go around the hat on the hat,
would say, would you be on our podcast?
Speaker 2 (25:09):
Right on the hat on the hat?
Speaker 1 (25:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (25:12):
Yeah, you don't even have to say anything. Hey, So Susan,
so Bridget and Rachel are there.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
They're here.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
Awesome.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
Oh yeah, and my procuring was not even possible these
people of the way they were coming and rehearsing and
disappearing like like it was interesting. Uh oh really, well
it was a heavy hitter night. And that's not how
usually they are, you know what I mean, everybody's usually
everywhere available all the time, and it wasn't like that.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
Now the tent that you're in, that's not a tent,
it's a canvas cabin. Is that what you called it?
Speaker 1 (25:47):
Oh? But I did speak with Marshall. I'm sorry, but
I did. I didn't fil film it or anything, but
he is very interested. Oh okay, that's my what. It
wasn't everything I wanted, but that is a report and
I I'm going to get in touch with him.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
He came out of there with the maybe, okay, right.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
Not it's better And it wasn't. It wasn't our regular
Wild Honey kind of thing because we had some very
big people involved and so things were run slightly differently,
and it was it was beautiful, just the same. And uh,
you can't stop a Wild Honey event because its sole
purpose is so good. They're always amazing.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Was the venue this year bigger than other Bigger than
the Alex and the Portal?
Speaker 5 (26:32):
No?
Speaker 1 (26:32):
No, And but it was as big, but the facilitated
backstage area was not quite as easy going. So that's
what I mean, Like, there wasn't all that, you know,
the collective area wasn't as big and people were smushed
and it was all way too wacky.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
You're you are right.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
Remember alex is very open and huge and there's space everywhere.
And yeah, this is what I pictured, going around, floating
around in this iron plays and yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
And having them an inch.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
It's not cool. Close, it's too closeglight.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
Big silight. Gentlemen, Yep, come to me, Jimmy walk tell.
Speaker 3 (27:21):
Oh no, you saw Jimmy.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
I have picture.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
I hugged.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
Yeah, Jimmy, great.
Speaker 5 (27:29):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
Waddy would have been there, but he's out with Stevie.
He wanted to do it too.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
She got good because she was canceling hills. But folks,
Jimmy walked tell he's Wattie's brother. He did. The two
x two album cover of ours was done by Jimmy
walked out.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
He's eighty, okay, eighty on my side.
Speaker 3 (27:53):
On my side he found the rock and the rock.
Speaker 1 (27:56):
Out and yeah, I remember that, you know love. He
just cooked his mind was blown to be in a
council proximity and it was nice. Guys, it's great.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
I remember be on my side. Photo shoot. We were
in the car. We pulled off to the right arm
P eight Spacific Coast Highway and then went up hiking.
We started hiking. I mean, we'd need a helicopter, I
think to find this thing again. I could never It
was fun. Yeah, we're that but it's up there, that
(28:26):
big rock.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
We had Noss with us. I remember getting dressed. There
was no mom. We were going out with jim just
trying to look good.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
We were in two cars. Jimmy was in mine. I
think you were behind me, Paul, but Jimmy was in
mine because he'd had it on. That drive was when
he asked me to stop playing Crosby, Stills and Nash
album over and over again. Really yeah, really, he said,
can you stop playing that? I said sure, really, I mean.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
You said really twice yet I get but I can't believe.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
It's rude, he said it, but because I could annoy them.
Are you kidding?
Speaker 1 (29:06):
Yeah, guys, it was. It was a very fuzzy feeling.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
Yeah, that's excellent. I'm glad about that.
Speaker 5 (29:15):
It's funny you mentioned Jimmy because just well, because cocaine
drains out and just the other day I remember, I
remember that afternoon when we saw him across the street
and we all came running out and dragged him back
up in there. And Chuck is just going he's like
this and he keep pushing his glasses up on his nose.
He was not happy with that move by us. We're
going to play him something, play him something.
Speaker 1 (29:37):
Famous yet, Paul, here's Jimmy, Jimmy, here's the rest of
I know. But if he but if we had said
this was Wati walk Tell's brother and he was famous,
he would have responded differently.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
They will know they told him that he did. He
did two albums of ours.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
So Paul got it where they know who he is.
Now we sit him because I know the rest of it.
We sit him in the chair where Chuck sits next
to Toby, and we're asking, Toby, you got to pull
up this your love a life, pull up your love
of life. And that day if you ask thee to
pull it up, it's just not a flip of a switch.
It's like you kidding me, and Lord, look at me it.
(30:14):
Jimmy loved it. He did. He loved this your love alive.
And boy, do I remember yanking him off the street.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Now the Jimmy, oh my.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
God, it was just like I remember that bart. I
didn't remember the chilli reception from Plotkin.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
It's like to the to the guy on Myers like
there he is, there he is yeah. Yeah, So now
you got to hear this.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
You got to hear this.
Speaker 3 (30:38):
If I'm Jimmy, I'm going these guys really think they're
good too much. That was too funny.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
When it was great, it was great to see these guys.
It was definitely not the time to ask mister Brown
to join us.
Speaker 5 (30:53):
He was very.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
Oh packed. I think we saw out by the end
of it, for sure. Nice awesome, Yeah, mission accomplished With.
Speaker 3 (31:05):
Regards to Jackson Brown, Okay, because I spent an evening
with James Taylor, Okay, was he interactive or was he
off by himself? Was he this is too crowded for me.
I got to get the heck out, which would be me,
So I'm not going to fault him for that.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
On this particular occasion, mister Brown was very engaged. Warren
is close to his heart, was one of his best friends.
He's known Norton's kids since he was a baby, So
it was a familial reunion of sorts on so many
ways for me with Mohammed's from seventy five, with John
Meyer and that whole I mean, without John Meyer getting
(31:44):
Jackson to Jackson talked to Chuck, Jackson talked to everybody
for us at that point, it turns out and yeah,
and he was very engaged.
Speaker 3 (31:54):
What did he say about missing me and Paul? Oh?
Speaker 1 (31:57):
Well, that was the first thing out of his mouth was, Hey,
I'm just I mean, this is the only way this
could be any better. He said, was as if your
brother's Bob and Paul were here. Okay, growing listen, I'm
gonna tell you what I told a lot of people,
because a lot of people know Jackson in mine's history.
But it is familial, it's personal and private. It never
(32:20):
has been about music, So we don't engage in a
certain way that people might think we would under these circumstances.
Me and him are fine, but everybody else is like,
what's going on? Like, well, we don't work together. Look
for instance, I got there now. Jackson and I've been texting.
He knew I was coming, but I didn't tell him.
I was singing in the choir, which I always do.
I jump in, I do my thing, and then I
(32:41):
become a choir member all night. Well I get there,
everybody's already started with him. He goes to turn Jenkins.
Just I put my purse down next to my mike
and the next time he turns around, I'm standing there,
and he turned around her addressed again and goes, all right, everyone,
that was cool. He goes Susan, and I went yeah,
(33:04):
and Dave goes, well you knew she was. He goes yeah,
but I go don't think, let's just keep moving. It
didn't occur to him that I was going to be
now his singer. And I think, you know, took pause,
took Paul Rosemary all worked out, I mean, not his no, no,
I was a part of the group of singers. But
(33:25):
he is very very specific young man, much like our
brother Bob. When it comes to Voe.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
Well, I haven't read what what did he sing?
Speaker 1 (33:36):
Okay Jackson saying Desperado under the eves, life will kill you.
He sang, you know, and like look, look, I know
the Warren hits all one of them, so I you know,
I learned a lot. And then then the Linda covers
(33:57):
Carmelita Dwight Yoakum. I meant to tell you that that
Dwight Yoakum.
Speaker 3 (34:01):
Yes, that's right.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
He was there, but he had his bus outside and
he came in to do his thing and left. So like, no,
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (34:08):
Oh, yes he did that. Yeah, okay.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
Wild Honey is usually more home based, less big people,
so we have a lot more home vibe going on
out that there wasn't. It's just the respect of the
larger members of our musical.
Speaker 2 (34:21):
Society we're being It was more business like.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
It was. We were all behaving just a little better
out a history.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
Did you tell Jackson how I thought he was a
black artist when I first heard doctor in my eyes.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
I've told him that in the past because I agreed
with you on that it's true, and I've told him
that in the past, but we did not rekindle that thought.
Speaker 3 (34:41):
Okay, that's interesting.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
We spend zero personal time together. He came up to
me at Leland's sklot will be on our thing Leland
and Bestes.
Speaker 3 (34:55):
He'll make us go in that book. He's got a
book and he makes everyone do.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
I have a picture that's going in his next book
of me.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
Doing famous people do it. And if you get it
made the grave.
Speaker 1 (35:07):
Oh you guys, it was really a phenomenon and I
can't if you can be poll ask Lulan go on cowtills,
bring up some stuff and then out there. If you
go to anybody goes to the Wild Honey FB, you'll
see many of the entertainers. It was phenomenal and and
Dave Jenkins Michael Ackerman always put on a top phonic
(35:28):
mind blowing life. I mean we had sixteen strings.
Speaker 3 (35:34):
List you guys, if these, if any of these are
on YouTube, you can go up and get the link
now and share things. Now that everyone's gotten over that weirdness,
so they're any up there, We'll try and get some
links into this episode or get one in here and
show you what it's all about.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
Yeah, it's pretty great, and you know, all raised for autism.
But this year we did split the benefits with mister
Zevon his his dad's you know whatever, the like, I'm
being bad, but whatever the cancer that took Warren from us.
They have a foundation that for their research, so we split.
We split foundations this year, which is great. So we
(36:12):
raise money for two amazing things.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
Cancer.
Speaker 1 (36:21):
Yeah, it was just great. I mean, I I you know,
it is an honor to and they always, guys, they
always put me in second, second set, like fourth or
fifth to the end, like they treat me like yeah,
and they read this thing that I didn't hear all of,
but I got a little nauseous because they write a
(36:42):
thing and say in front of who's coming out, and
they were referencing me and Linda ron Stett and all
I was like, oh, thanks a lot now everyone as
I head out there, But your sister did well?
Speaker 3 (36:54):
Proud who sang? Who's saying werewolves of London?
Speaker 1 (36:59):
We all all did. That was kind of a last.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
So different singers took a verse.
Speaker 1 (37:06):
Yeah, we were all wild and everything was getting kind
of kooky by then. Yeah, yeah, yeah, good stuff. There
were twenty seven people on what he said? I don't know.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
Wow. This one last question about me and Paul at
the after party? Did anyone ask about us?
Speaker 1 (37:24):
Everyone? You know who asked about you? Guys? Remember you
know Amy from the Flower Power Cruise, Amy Blue Hair Amy?
Speaker 3 (37:33):
Yes, yeah, yes, dark girl.
Speaker 1 (37:37):
Yes, she was there with her husband, mister Amy.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
Okay more power tentacles are far and why they are?
Speaker 1 (37:46):
She's just a huge music lover. So there she was
and that was fun. Yeah, who knew? U? Trying to
think if I saw anybody else in our Henry Dilts
to me, say, hi, Henry was there. Henry was there?
So high from Henry to the council boys. Of course,
Jenkins always sends loved I.
Speaker 3 (38:07):
Got to bring my blue blue tailor to David.
Speaker 1 (38:09):
You know. But of course I think for me, the
you know Jimmy walked out was pretty cool on a
familiar level. We haven't seen him in ye yeah, wow,
and he was so I'll send you guys pictures all
text them to when we hang up. Great, he's almost
eighty or he is eighty.
Speaker 3 (38:27):
Did you recognize Jimmy or did Jimmy come up and
tell you No?
Speaker 1 (38:30):
No, Wattie told me he was coming, Okay, said, my
brother's coming down. And so I went out to look,
you know, here's with Jimmy. You'll see him. He looks
amazing older than Jimmy. No, I think Jimmy's older than Watty. Okay,
And Watty says Jimmy is the nice one. He just
(38:53):
said it today. I sent the picture and goes, oh,
there he is a nice one.
Speaker 3 (38:58):
Well, here's as I knew them.
Speaker 1 (39:01):
He's very nice to guys. He's a sweet old man.
Speaker 3 (39:03):
What buff Back in the day, it was Jimmy would
be the hey, can't we discuss this? And why do
you be you know, I'm gonna kick your fucking ass, you.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
Know, etly exactly. Let's just say he's a mellower version
of himself as well.
Speaker 7 (39:20):
Absolutely, all yeah, yeah, thank god, he's gonna sing what
I want to get into your your famping experience or
camping whatever you glamping is.
Speaker 3 (39:34):
Do you have your own room in the tent? Oh?
Speaker 1 (39:38):
Heavens no. We have a double tent featuring one double bed.
They give it to me because I'm the oldest person,
and two singles. Lovely mattresses, sheets, blankets we bring. So
it's Bridget, Susan and Ray in a canvas tent with
plenty of room. All all take photos, I tell you,
(39:59):
and go ahead.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
So are John and Vicky in the same campground with you?
Speaker 1 (40:05):
They are paul in North Pine, next to Lower and Upper.
Oh okay, okay, so they're up. You know they have
to drive or walk here, a very long way to
get over here. We're gonna go have dinner with them
either tomorrow night or the next night. And now here's
the caveat guys. Jack Meyer, John Meyer's son, Yes, Kathy,
(40:26):
his daughter Jack and brother Bruce came to the to
the wild. Honey. I let Jack know we were coming
up here. Ironically, Paul, this has been a sole spot
for Jack Meyer, never knowing it was his dad's as well.
So Jack's gonna come up and we're all gonna sit
by the campfire and maybe talk about Jam a little
bit and give a little ceremony for his kid. John
(40:49):
and I can. I mean, we've got a lot of
funny stories about camping up there and hand hold of
gold Bob. We were let on these expeditions by JM
up here.
Speaker 3 (40:59):
I can't believe what happened to your girl trip.
Speaker 1 (41:02):
You, but here's what my friends. Let me tell you something.
It wasn't a girl trip to begin with. This was
a year or so ago. Susan put out to the universe.
If I don't get to you have seventy something quite
unfortunate could happen. So the universe brought me wild Honey
that brought me a paid trip to Los Angeles, at
which point I saw the queue from the universe and
(41:23):
said to my husband, I gotta go. I'm gonna rent
a car, take myself up, get one of the small
cabin tent cabins, and I gotta do this thing. If
I don't, I'm gonna he said, go, baby, go. Then
I'm on the summer tour and I say to Bridget
and I say, I'm de la thinking about if the
universe plays it right. She goes, se many, that's a
(41:44):
bucket list of mine. Now I love Bridget and Bridget
and I traveled it. Now. See here's the thing. Two
goal random goals wouldn't be here with me, but two
chicks that I ride in coffins with alsommer long and
live in such close proximity we don't even have to
talk to each other. These are the people to come
(42:04):
up here and do some solo work with while giving
them the gift. I mean, they've never been here. I
was brought here by JM. It's a gift you give
to someone if they don't get here. So here we are.
And then the universe then said, oh, I'm gonna prow
your brother and sister and then guess what We're gonna
throw the kids of the guy who brought you up there.
(42:25):
And so what this is is the trip that it
is because it is saying so it started out my
solo yeah long ago.
Speaker 3 (42:35):
So here's an important question, a crazy yeah, Polly, So
where's the bathroom? And what take to get there.
Speaker 1 (42:44):
Okay, good, no questions, Bob, you are talking to a seat. No,
not when you get the cheaper canvas tents. But what
you get is a lovely and I mean lovely. You
have shower, big giant facility with big giant showers, bathrooms,
all working.
Speaker 3 (43:02):
Beautiful news people are using.
Speaker 1 (43:06):
Yes, you wouldn't be okay, everybody else good with this.
It's a community shower.
Speaker 3 (43:12):
Doesnower job those those don't jig with me.
Speaker 1 (43:18):
But the wooden cabins more expensive come with private But
I'm a camper, Bob. When I camp, I don't got anything, Bob.
Speaker 3 (43:27):
Bob, Well, but look you're talking to the guy that
could be in the cabin watching the game on the
TV with all that outside, feeling as wonderful as.
Speaker 1 (43:36):
You first year, But the cabin doesn't have a game
on it.
Speaker 5 (43:41):
Me and me and luand for for a wedding anniversary
did exactly that. It was where when Kurt Gibson came
out of the locker room to hit the home run.
Oh we we were in Yosemite in that cabin in
the winter or you know that time of year and
uh and yeah, and it was incredible, it was great, Bob.
Speaker 2 (44:00):
And so great.
Speaker 1 (44:02):
And here's the thing. Our canvas tents are heated.
Speaker 3 (44:06):
Now, okay, now you gotta understand. I don't want to focus.
They're heated. That's one of them. They better be heated,
except you know, there's something.
Speaker 1 (44:15):
About Don and vickor camping. There's no heat there, intents
up the street ahead.
Speaker 3 (44:19):
There is something appealing with the sleeping bag, and then
head out into the cool air. I get that. But
if it's two am, there you got to be.
Speaker 1 (44:32):
You have to be outside, right outside, Bob, right outside,
an outside moment at everything's right.
Speaker 3 (44:39):
Only picture one gender doing that. I gotta put the
other one in the toilet seating for the girls to
go into the will.
Speaker 2 (44:49):
Go easy, Bob, you get it as easy as we.
Speaker 1 (44:52):
Do it at the room, just squat crying out.
Speaker 3 (44:57):
I want to know how long is that walk? If
you need to use you know?
Speaker 1 (45:01):
Okay, Okay, I'm there. I'm going to answer you.
Speaker 3 (45:07):
Go ahead.
Speaker 1 (45:07):
Your sister is a seasoned Yosemite Curry Village upper lower
Piney camper that have covered every place you could possibly
stay here in my life and time. We picked a
cabin because we came it off season. That would be
strategically located in a very short walking distance but not
(45:27):
visible to obscure our majestic view, but in complete walking distance.
That and showers and bathrooms are open twenty four hours
for your Insomnik's sister who was in a shower last
night in your.
Speaker 2 (45:41):
Susan, what our fires have to be off by seven?
Speaker 6 (45:46):
No?
Speaker 1 (45:47):
What's going on right now? We're in a low fire
thing as in the last couple of days. Curry Church
never has fires. When you have the things we have,
you don't have campfire. You're in a little village. But
Jay and v are up the street at North Pine
with campfire, so I bought them way to bring to
the party.
Speaker 3 (46:04):
And are you cooking food at the campfire?
Speaker 1 (46:06):
Vicky's offered us dinner, but it's going to cook us dinner,
I know.
Speaker 3 (46:12):
But you three, you got some facility to eat and.
Speaker 1 (46:15):
Yah's food okay, kiosk behind me? I believe you can
see it.
Speaker 2 (46:20):
And there's a great store there that you can buy
just daily everything.
Speaker 1 (46:24):
I've got leche frigol in my bear now, Bob this
end listeners. Listeners notes it's a very active bear time
because why while we're getting ready for winter and what
a bears do in the winter, haven't it. But they're
around right now because they're eating because they got to
get all full before they head up.
Speaker 5 (46:41):
And that, Bob, is why you don't hang your head
outside your tent and sleep.
Speaker 1 (46:45):
Yes, and you also don't keep Snacki's in there with you.
And they called a bear of fridge. We have a bear. Listen,
a bear locker? What is right outside your house that
you put anything that smells sweet, including after coconut shampoo
for instance. That smoke he doesn't know is shampoo. He
thinks it's a coconut.
Speaker 3 (47:06):
But I really did read an article not two days
ago about a guy doing what you're doing, and this
bear visited his camp. He said he visited it three
They said three times, Oh, we're very active. It came
back and killed them. Oh stop, no, that's the truth.
Speaker 1 (47:23):
Well, because he did not do what he was supposed
to be doing, Bob, the.
Speaker 3 (47:27):
Third time you leave, that bear's got you in his
eyes and focus.
Speaker 1 (47:31):
So, Bob, the only reason that bear came back is
because that man was camping irresponsibly. They're just looking for food.
So if you don't have food where you're living, they
ain't gonna get you.
Speaker 3 (47:43):
Yeah, his mistake was being a seasoned camper. His mistake
was enjoying the bear. Oh look there's the bear again.
Speaker 1 (47:52):
It's like, yeah, craction right.
Speaker 2 (47:55):
And he had pouches of honey in all of his pockets.
Speaker 1 (47:58):
Hey, listen, you guys, listen, y'all. My cousin in law,
one of Russ's cousins, got speared by an elk by
taking pictures of it and thinking she was being funny
and that elk. She ended up in the hospital.
Speaker 2 (48:16):
I was telling her what the hell to do.
Speaker 1 (48:18):
That's Bob's point. This is Bob's point.
Speaker 3 (48:20):
Though.
Speaker 1 (48:21):
This guy was manipulating nature, and you don't do that.
Speaker 2 (48:24):
