Speaker 1 (00:06):
I don't know quen. Hi, this is Danny Felt and
you're listening to the Danny Felt Podcast. In this episode,
we're gonna talk about environments and the importance of switching
them out for productivity. Here we go, Hi, guys, this
(00:28):
is Danny Felt. Hope you guys are having an awesome
day today. I want to talk to you guys really
quick about the importance of switching your environment now. As
I'm a girley who works from home, I'm an entrepreneur.
A lot of times I'm working in my bedroom to
(00:49):
get things done. But as someone with ADHD, I noticed
that it's really easy to get bored with being in
the same place over and over and over. Also, not
gonna lie. Being at home can be extremely distracting. You
(01:11):
might want to do laundry, you might want to clean
your room, you might want to look at your clothes,
reorganize things. It's really easy to get distracted. And it's
also been really hot in La especially the past week,
and so it's been really hot in my room and
it's been harder to focus. And so today I decided,
(01:34):
let me switch it up and go to a really
fun cafe and lo and behold, I get into the
cafe and there's other people working, and I immediately feel
such a sigh of relief and productivity and laser focus.
(01:55):
Now there is a thing with ADHD. I think it's
called body doubling, where when you're around other people working,
you're more productive. But guess what, if you're working from home,
your doors shut, it's pretty much just you looking at yourself,
and so it's harder sometimes to be motivated to get
things done. So today I was in the cafe and
(02:20):
I was super super focused on two specific tasks. A
lot of times I would fight with myself when I'm
working from home as far as being productive, because it'd
be so easy to get distracted. But being in this cafe,
I was so productive. It was so much easier to focus. Also,
(02:44):
I shut my phone off for a few hours, and
that also was extremely helpful for getting things done. Because
when we're constantly looking at our phones and we're just
like scrolling on social media and like wasting time and
refreshing our email over and over and over. Maybe that's
just me, it's really hard to be productive. So today
(03:05):
I shut my phone off. I worked for my cafe.
I worked there from like I think it was like
ten am, no eleven, ten thirty or eleven to like three.
Then I went to a second cafe and worked from
three to five, and I was just so productive Today.
(03:28):
I forgot what a difference it can make to just
be in a different environment. So if you work from
home and you're bored and you want to switch it up,
go to a hotel, go to a cafe, research different
places in your area to start going to. Even if
you just go like once a week, it will make
(03:48):
such a big difference in excitement because our brain needs
like variety. We will get so bored if we're just
doing the same thing over and over and over and
over and over and over. We absolutely need variety. So
think about how you can mix up your day so
(04:10):
that it's not just doing the same thing over and
over and over, because it will be so much more
exciting and you'll be so much more productive. So, whether
it's a cafe or hotel, you could even call a
friend and go work with them. If you guys will
like actually focus, like it makes such a difference to
just like start switching your environments. It doesn't have to
(04:32):
be anything fancy, just being in any kind of like
coffee shop even will make it way more exciting and
your brain will be like, okay, cool, like this is new,
this is fun. Now I'm in entrepreneur mode, now stepping
into a business person. Now I'm not in my bedroom
so I can actually focus and get work done because
(04:53):
I am here to work. I'm in this environment to work,
and you can check your brain like that super helpful.
So if you are like getting bored or restless working
in the same place over and over and over, I
highly recommend checking out cafes, checking out other places. It
could even be simple as like the library. Anywhere that
(05:15):
you can mix things up and work a different place
will make a huge impact and I highly recommend it.
So let me know how that goes. I'm excited to
hear about where you decide to try working. Let me
know and I'll talk to you in the next episode. Hi,
this is Danny Fel and thanks so much for listening
(05:37):
to the Danny Fel Podcast. Stay tuned for the next episode.
See you then.
