coordinate our.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Outfits to any way complete coincidence.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Yeah, we both just randomly. Well mine's more of a
hound stooth than a plaid.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
But yeah, yeah, but we're.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
Both wearing red and black. I'm wearing hounds youth. John
is wearing plaid.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
But it just shows that, like darn Carl, we have
a cosmic connection.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Yes, as we do.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
I'm I'm a little sad that the season, that the
season of the Book of Carol is over, because I
like I'm sad that the show itself is over.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
But I just I'll miss podcasting about the show with you.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Yeah, I would like to do, you know, eventually, do
some like some bonus fucking Daryl and Carroll stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Yeah, but I think we have, yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Much better time than uh than Jesse and I have
had covering Teacup were we just recorded the finale for

we're gonna do this anymore.

Speaker 1 (02:44):

the recaps might be going away. We also have death Crunch,

But you'll get a separate entry for every every one
of our from videos you comment on and every after
party where you're active in the chat. And if we
get enough people in our chat at the next after show,
(04:33):
we will give away one of these nifty Cat shirts
that Jade is wearing that he wears frequently because he's
the Daryld Dixon from He never changes his close ever
sometimes but yeah, he's too busy being a mad scientist.
(04:55):
He doesn't have time to change clothes. But yeah, let's
let's get into it. I this episode is called which
means goodbye children.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Hooray. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
I actually enjoyed this one more watching it back than
I initially did.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
Yeah, And unfortunately Norman Readers has set up to field
because he said it's the best episode ever of anything ever,
and it's not. But it's not bad at all, but it.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
Just it's yeah, yeah for sure. But uh yeah, let's uh,
let's let's start.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
So we the the cold open.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
We have a little bit of a beef with oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
So okay.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
So it opens with blowing on a dandelion and he's
sitting outside the racetrack and uh Daryl comes up to
him with a guitar and says, you know where I'm from.
If you you blow on those to set your wish
is free. And Laurent says that in French it's piece
of moly eat because it means pissed, You piss the
(06:20):
bed if you eat one.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
But it's also i'd say to Kayley, is what it's
also called. In Scoland, it's called a p debate.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
That's so funny.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
But uh yeah, so you know, Darryld just kind of
laughs and then he hands on my guitar that he
found in a in a trunk. I don't know what
happened to him, well, like, yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
I guess.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
I mean, Laurent was captured so he doesn't have his before,
but he says he tried to, you know, fix up
the strange form and he just kind of starts, you know,
noodling around on it. And Laurent Laurance says that Parshan
taught him how to play and that he was really
into seventies rock like Neil Young and Joan by Us
(07:06):
and led Zeppelin, and he says, he says to Daryl,
you're not coming, are you? And he says, well, you know,
somebody has to stay behind, so it makes sense that
it's me, which which I guess it does, you know,
I mean, if somebody has to stay behind it, it
definitely does make more sense for it to be him.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Yeah, but.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
Yeah, it's uh, he says. You know, he says, wanted
to talk about it, Lawrence, like why won't you change
your mind? Every time anything good happens, something bad comes
to ruin it, and you know, Darryl reminds him that
it's only temporary, and you know he'll be following back.
And Laurence says, America is a long way away, and
(07:54):
you'll be alone. And Darryl says he's been alone before
lots of times, like.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
In the wood.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
Yes, a animal, but he promises him that he'll make
it back, and and Laurence says, you can't promise that,
and and Daryl says, look at me, I can promise
that I'm going to see you again.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
No, you can't die. But he said to Judas in
the main series when she was scared about leaving, he said,
I can't promise I'm always going to be here, but
you know, and that's the correct thing to say, because
he can't promise, can't promise. He can't even promise he's
going to be around the corner in ten minutes in
(08:41):
that world, so you can't promise you're going to make
it back to America. I don't know why they've made
him so make all these promises to Laurent, like last
week when he put him in the sort of the mausoleum,
and he's like, no, I will come back because when
if I were not well double the time in don't
(09:02):
it worked? I just don't know why they made them
make these promises to this kid.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
I mean, he promised Carol he'd be back in about
a week and.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Exactly, I mean.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
Never going to expected that anyway.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
Laurent starts playing can't always get what you want, and
he starts singing, and Daryl starts singing along too, and
he starts crying, and okay, so let's talk about the beef.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
That we have with this. Initially, Darryl was not supposed
to be singing along. Yeah, and you know songs have.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
Meaning in shows when they're used in this manner. Yes,
And Daryl was originally supposed to be to be singing along.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
But what happened is.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
Louie, the kid that plays Lauran, was nervous about singing
on camera, and so Norman Retis suggested that he sing
along with him to make him feel more comfortable, which is.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
Sweet, very sweet.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Totally changes the meaning of everything.
Speaker 5 (10:24):
Exactly, It completely changes and the fact that when they
focused on Daryl's face and he's singing makes it be
about Darryl.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
It's about what he's thinking and feeling and his tears
and Smiley's smiling but crying, He's like doing that it's
smily cry thing and it's like, so what is Daryl feeling?
It's so obsture, Like what's he thinking about that you
once thought he wanted, but actually he needed completely unclear,
(10:54):
no idea.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
Yeah, but it was.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
Meant to be about Laurent. That Laurent, you know, wanted
to stay in France with Isabelle and Darryl. But now
he's going back to America where he's safer and will
be protected, and he's going to go with Ash, which
means he will have a father figure who's more willing
than Donald. And that's what he needed. That's what he needed.
(11:18):
So it makes sense for Lauren, for Darryl, who knows,
who knows what we're making? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (11:26):
Yeah, waya ship over Laurent's story, man, Yeah, steal.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
The limelight by singing. Yes, who ever thought we would
see Darryl singing in the Walking Day but lego?
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Yeah, very strange. Yeah, we so that's the cold open.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
Then when when we come back, Ash is working on
the plane and Carol comes up to home and looking
and he just kind of ignores her, you know, he's
he's not happy with her, and she says, she tells
him that she's not coming with him, and she wants
him to take Darryl and the boy, and Ash gets
(12:06):
annoyed and he's like, why should I help any of you?
Like you brought me here under bullshit, bullshit pre pretenses,
and now I now I'm doing you a huge favor.
And Carol's like, yeah, I get it. You want to
you want to punish me, but you're I'm already punishing
myself enough. And she asked him to please not take
(12:28):
it out on them, and uh then we see flu
and a woman named Tequila on horses.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
Where'd she come from? Who knows? You won't find out
no clue.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
I'm assuming that they knew each other.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
I wonder if she's from the nest. That's what I'm thinking. Yeah, yeah,
that's what I'm thinking.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
But they're they're on some horses with h with Padrone
and Nadine, and she says the the chateau was turned
into a hospital complex at and at one point it
was a mental institution, and uh, Lou says, there will
there will be some supplies there that that we can find,
(13:15):
and h Aquila says that that the horses they stopped
for like they stopped their horses, and Aequila says that
her horse is thumping, which.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
I've never I've never heard that.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
I've never heard that. Yeah, that's why I wrote question
mark on. I was like, what, that's what she says,
and that's what the close couch says. So I'm assuming
it's a horsey term.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
Yeah, I mean, I'm not you know, I'm not an
expert of questrian, but I've written horses many times.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
I've never I've never heard that, but.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Yeah, it's uh, basically that that means that she's getting dehydrated.
And Blue says, you know a lot about horses, and
She's like, said, mules actually, and I learned that mules
and horses actually communicate the same way. Oh really yeah, yeah,
they have the same They communicate with their ears a lot.
(14:05):
They usually communicate and they yeah, they it's it's very similar.
But she said her dad had a had a farm
in Algeria before they emigrated, and he asked if she
had any siblings, and she says she had two brothers
who are who were both dead now, and and his
sister Jamila and who she lost track of. And Lou
(14:29):
says that he came on his own from Cameroon and
he didn't have anyone to lose when the hunger ones
came and Cadurones says, says, come on, let's go. The
women can stay with the horses.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
And Akila's like, hey, shouldn't we stay together?
Speaker 3 (14:51):
And Cadrone's like it's dangerous inside, and she's like, uh, yeah,
my point exactly. But in all fairness, we don't really
know those characters. No, we know that Cauldrone and Flu
are a couple of bad houses.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
Yes, it's it's such a strange seem that because it
feels like you've dropped in and you feel like you're
going have I missed something? Why are they going here?
What do they need supply for? You know, there was
there was so much to it. I was like, I
don't know what's happening. I don't know why we're seeing
this right now. I'm glad. I'm always glad to get
more flu. We always want more flu. But I'm like,
(15:32):
I don't I don't understand that. You know, they could
have added a few lines and oh, now that everybody
from the nest is showing up injured, we need to
get medicals. Plot something like that that would just get
me help me get a handle on what they're actually
doing there would.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
Yeah, yeah, it was. It was a little confusing. Yeah,
but uh. They they're going up the steps and uh,
Drone says to lou love at first sight. Huh and
then he lasts, which is cute.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
They didn't actually know each other.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Yeah maybe yeah, yeah, of course love her first sight. Yeah,
so she must be somebody. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
Yeah, so they're so they're grown up the stairs and
they see a walker in a wheelchair, and they find
some walkers that are strapped to beds, and Cadrone makes
the joke, you know, he says, French healthcare system best
in the world.
Speaker 6 (16:32):
That's the second jokes have done about the fine health
carec that's because don't but when she needs box story,
I'm like, okay, yeah, strong feelings about the French health
care apparently.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I'm in America, so.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
Yeah, I don't don't even know what it is. I
don't know what the French hair system is.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
We just don't go to the doctor here. That's pretty
much our healthcare system.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Yeah, you have a lot of money.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
Yeah, but the nice thing is though, like you know,
if you end up having to have a if you
end up having a medical emergency, then usually like the
rest of your hospital bills are paid for the rest
of the year because at least we have the out
of pocket maximum.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
But you know, yeah, anyway, I've been there once this year,
might as well go the whole log can go more exactly.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
That's that's that's always me, Like, if I have to
have a surgery, I'm like, right after, as soon as
I'm ready to get out of the house, I'm like, okay,
I need to make apartments with.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
This doctor in everything taking care of now.
Speaker 7 (17:46):
Before there the mock that's it.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
But yeah, so uh Plu goes down the hall and
currency is that one of the walkers in the bad
wearing a cross and he takes it off and uh
flu is uh. We we then see Flu in the hallway.
(18:12):
Who's uh he's been. He's on his and he's been
captured by two of the garriers and they another one
grabs hold of Cadron and Sabine asks him about the
plane and uh like. Cadron tells her that the cause
is the cause is dead and she said, no, just
just send us, just.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
Send us the new They're like, I'm stay alive.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
And she's the new genee and uh and the new
list saying all in one, yes exactly, but.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
Yeah, I tells him that that they would have left
by now, and she says, no, we've we've been watching
and no play's.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
Flown over yet.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
And the one of the carriers tells Cadrone speak and
Saban says, I I think you both know, so do
we need to kill your friend?
Speaker 1 (19:14):
And they're gonna you know, they're gonna ship blue.
Speaker 3 (19:19):
And one of the guards falls to the ground and
it's Aequila saving them with the bow and arrow. See
you should have you shouldn't stepped together, and yeah, it's
good that they were in there.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
Aquila is the French cattle. She slows up right in
the last.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
Second exactly save the ax machina x Maquila, but Caudron
Cadrone kills the guy on his knees. The been escapes and.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
Men, I love that light. I know, I want, I
want a whole series, just a Aequila give her her
own series based entirely on this one scene.
Speaker 3 (20:08):
Yes exactly, And Caton says they need to warn Dixon
and Lou tells him they don't know where they are
and cause your says, actually, nine, I do.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
I can't remember how he does. I don't know. I
was like, did Carol tell him when she met him?
But I don't think she did? Did she didn't?
Speaker 3 (20:35):
Didn't he run into Ash at one point? I don't know,
a bad job with reminding us of that stuff.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
Yes, they really have. It really feel like there was
a lot cut out of this episode. I have to say,
I feel like there's a lot missing. I don't know
that basis and truth or the just bandwriting, but it
feels like there was a lot of stuff. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Yeah, it's funny because the previously on recaps in from
were always complaining that they're like that, they're like ten
minutes long, like you remember everything relevant?
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Yes, yes, that's yeah, we could have done with that.
Like how did Cadron know, because they're the only way
he well, wait, no, he he went back to he's
been at Fullu's place, did anybody? Yeah, Carol was there,
so maybe she told Oh she did he did, right,
It's all come clear to me now. And when Carol
(21:41):
was toiling Pulu, the Ash was missing, Cadron was sitting
at the table with them. So yeah, Polu and Coudron
both know so I don't know why Polly went. I
don't know where they are.
Speaker 8 (21:57):
Yeah, yeah, that's oh boy.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
But uh.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
Back at the plane, Ash is still ignoring Carol and
Lawrence with her, and Ash walks out and and Lauren says,
I don't think he likes me, And Carol tells him
that he's just he's just got a lot in his
mind on his mind, and Lauren asks if it's because
she lied to him, and she says something like that,
(22:31):
and Lauren says, and now you feel bad too. People
shouldn't lie, and she says, no, no, they shouldn't and
and then Lauren says, but I'm glad you did, and
uh yeah, because otherwise you might not be there, and
neither went Darryl, and uh Carol. Carol says, you have
(22:55):
a really special way of seeing things, don't you, And
and she said, you're gonna make a lot of a
lot of friends at the Commonwealth. And Laurent says, do
you think Darryl will be able to make it back
by himself?
Speaker 1 (23:07):
And Carol looks surprised.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
These two idiots like no you go, no you go,
no you go. They're both being as selfless and noble
as each other. I was writing out of View earlier today,
and I was saying, you know the problem is with Carol.
You know that's one hundred percent just total self effacing nobility.
(23:31):
She wants Darryl to be with Lauren and that's more
important to her than her being with Daryl. But with Darryl,
because we've had all this crap about him saying I
was wrong to want to go home. I was wrong
to go on to go home. So you're like, well,
is he staying here for some other meson? Even though
Laurent's going to be gone and Isabelle's be gone, does
(23:53):
he still think he belongs in France? So because of
all that messiness with them saying that, it's sort of
this loses a bit of a timpot, But they're both.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
He's going to go back to the He's gonna go
back to the abbey and and go go live out
the day.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
Yes, please, darl one of those whimples can a nice time.
Bot put a whimple on and we'll find him gardening
and then I'll be.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
But Darryl and Darryl and Asher are looking for plain parts,
and Darryl asks Daryl asks him what he's looking for,
and he says they need hoses so they don't have
to stop during the crossing, and Daryl's like, yeah, yeah, Greenland.
I heard about that, and it would.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
Have been funny if we've never seen Mohammed in Greenland,
which it's constantutal factor.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
Yeah, I heard you were almost a sex life and.
Speaker 1 (25:13):
He uh.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
He comes over by Ash and and Ash is just
that's just kind of annoyed with this presence.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
It was like, hey, I don't I don't need your help,
and he uh.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
He asks about Lauren's parents, and Daryl says that he's
an orphan, and he says that he's sorry about his
kid because you know Carol.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
He tells him Carol told him everything.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
And he tells him that he was there when she
lost Sophia and wouldn't wish that on anyone.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
And I hated this so much.
Speaker 3 (25:48):
I so Ash says, you lose a wife or a husband,
you're a widow or a widow. If you lose a kid,
there's no word for that. Daryl says, maybe that's too
hard a thing to name. This exact conversation has been
in like ten different TV episodes.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
That same thing. Yeah, how many times have we seen
that in TV shows like that?
Speaker 3 (26:20):
Just yes, stop stop, This is like the most tired exchange. Yes,
I've ever heard It's God every time I hear it.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
I just wish that they've been having a sort of
it starts to get there when Daryl says about you know,
he was there when when Carol lost the fear. I
just would have liked Ash to be saying to Daryl, what,
what's Carl's deal? Why did you lie about just to
find you You're permanently capable? Look at you. You know,
there's all these conversations that they fairly should be having,
(26:53):
which are just pushed to the side for these weird,
unrealistic exchanges about the philosophy of day. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
Yeah, she They should have passed Jarl off, like like
Victor I'm from, Like he's just a ten year old boy, and.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Yeah, it's might work, but uh.
Speaker 3 (27:19):
I guess just see Daryl carrying around a little lunchbox.
But uh, yeah, Ash has Daryl if he has kids,
and and Daryl says no, and uh he says, well,
you know, maybe that's a good thing that you don't
you don't have that worry, and uh He's like, no, no,
I worry about plenty and oh.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
Yes, let some little the kids he cares about back
home because he's forgotten.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
Exactly. And uh so Darryl tells him, you know you
came here to save a kid. You still can And
they go through the gate and and they h walker
comes through and and Daryl pulls back and shuts the gate,
and Ash says, well, I guess I'm kind of glad
(28:10):
that you're coming with us.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
Oh god.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
But uh so Anna and Anna and and one of
the dancers are in the back again.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
Name name on the title that fans a bond for it,
like you children in the car with honest, so Ana
can have some box story, at least give it a name.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
Yeah, and this is the second episode we've seen her in. Yeah,
maybe even more. We just didn't notice her before. I
don't know, but you know she's been at least two episodes.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (28:49):
But so Anna and and dancer lady are in the
car and Anna says, I I used to live on
this street when I first moved here. And she says
she ran away from a little village to be a singer.
Speaker 1 (29:03):
And uh she hated her mother for not believing in her.
Speaker 3 (29:06):
And she said maybe she was just trying to protect her,
and the dancer says, if only she could see you now,
and uh Anna says, I wonder if she'd be ashamed,
and she dancer asked her where she is and she says,
back home, I guess, and.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
I would likely do it. Oh no quick, she needs
some bought story closed to write this little scene relation
to anything else.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
I know, it's so funny.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
Yeah, they get they get shopped by h by the
carriers and and the uh the dancer pulls out a
gun and Anna takes it from her. She's like, you're
gonna get as killed and she gets out of the
car and just send us there. And she's like, you
know you might remember me. I'm I'm from that that
(29:59):
cesspool that you offer and Anna says, uh yeah, you
came with a man and left alone.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
Fight.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
Yeah, and she says that she wanted the same thing
that that he wanted and and I was like, I
didn't help him, why would I help you?
Speaker 1 (30:24):
And the uh the gary er shoots Anna's driver.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
And just ouch, Yeah, that's so funny. Sinda tells her
that she knows that they have an airplane and she says,
help me find it, or your friend's pretty face goes
and I love this, and to Bean's got the gun
(30:54):
on the dancer and I love this. And Anna's like,
see this is why I don't make friends. Yeah, and
and uh, you know, she says she doesn't give without
getting something good in return, and.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
Sinda says, what about your life?
Speaker 3 (31:14):
And Annah's like, I could take it or leave it.
Jacinta asks her what she wants, and Anna says she
just wants to go home, back to where her people are.
And so if I help you find the boy, I
get the plane and the pilot.
Speaker 2 (31:32):
And she wants the pilot for sure, yes.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Yeah, God, Like she's okay. She's helped Laurent get away
get away twice now, two.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Or three times?
Speaker 3 (31:47):
Yeah, a couple of times at least, and now she's
like she's promising to hand him over.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
Because she wants a plane to go back home. And
presumably in France, there was nothing to indicate she wasn't French,
which she could clearly drive to your walk to because
she's got car. Yeah, Carle's traveled France on a couple
of days, didn't it.
Speaker 1 (32:14):
I'm just not understanding this.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Yes, they're thrusting motivation at her at the last minute,
just to bring all the things together. They could have
just left her alive that the DAMI, we moaned, it
would have been fine.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
Yeah, yeah, none of this was necessary.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
No, but so ash And and Laurent are in the
plane and Ashes showing him all the controls. Well, Daryld
watches and Carol comes over and she says he's pretty
good with him. Huh, and and Caryl says, yeah, yes.
Carol says, I brought you something, and she hands him
(32:55):
his crossbow.
Speaker 1 (32:56):
Yeah. He was very excited about that.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
More excited than he was about cold. Let's just.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
And uh, Carol.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
Carol laughs, and he's like, you lugged this all the
way here, and she's like, well he allowed one carry on.
Speaker 1 (33:15):
So and uh.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
She she goes to talk to him, says, Daryl listen,
and he says, I know what you're gonna say.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
You ain't you ain't staying And Carol.
Speaker 3 (33:30):
Is you know, Carol is obviously not happened at and
she's like, it's the right thing for everybody, Darryl, and
Daryl says, it's already settled, and I'm on team Daryl
with this one. Like, yeah, if anyone should stay, it's
it should be him. Yeah, and uh, Carol says, I'm
going to get you home, even if it means me
(33:50):
staying behind, because if anything happens to you, I'm not
gonna be able to live with myself.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
Carole just gets on the plane, goes home, dots We'll
go straight back again.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
Yeah, exactly, leaving them and you know, and and Ash
pipes in and he's like, he's right. Darryl's has been
here longer on the ground, so he knows how to survive.
And she's like, you know the plane, you know, so
you know how to help me, which is you know,
another great point.
Speaker 1 (34:21):
But the very yes, and U Carol still has to like,
you know, back a little bit.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
Yeah, but uh, you.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
Know, Ash says, this is it's about whatever can get
the kid back to a safe place.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
And Darryl tells her, all looks like you're outnumbered.
Speaker 3 (34:45):
And they they hear some car noises and they they
all get behind the plane and they point their weapons
at the door and it's Fuluin Cadrone and they tell
her that Jacinta is still alive and they're coming for Lauren.
And Carol asks Ash if he's if he's ready to go,
(35:08):
and Daryl's like, we got to go right now, and
Dryl asks Flu to help him take down the wall
that Ash had built up there, and so they push
the plane outside and Ash says he's got to test
the engine. Anna and Jacinta and all their people show
up at the racetrack and Anna says that the She
(35:30):
tells him that the plane is on the other side
of it. They won't see you coming this way. Sabine
sends the garriers inside with with Anna leading the way,
and she sees a poster that says visit Paris, and
she starts remembering her conversation with Lauren.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
Back in season one about the.
Speaker 3 (35:53):
The Eiffel Tower and how it will be beautiful again someday,
and and she told him, you know, I hope you
get to go someday.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
I hope you get to go home someday.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
And Being asks, uh, asks Anna which way, and Anna says,
through the garage and and then I'll take them to
the track and uh. So Anna leads the way down
the stairs and to you know, to where Ash and
Daryl are and just send it, says after you, and
(36:24):
and Anna walks through and following. You know, they're falling
through the garage and they all draw the guns and
there's just like all this walker chaos.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
I was like, I can't quite see what's having. It's
so dark and there's just the walkers and people are tripping.
I got quite see. Yeah, I mean guys saying that
Ana knew there would be walkers there, and she was
deliberately leading them into the garage to the walkers to
get attacked.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
That's what Yeah, that's what it sounds like anyway.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
Yeah, yeah, it's uh, it seemed very deliberate when I
was fine. And uh so they're they're shooting everywhere, and
Anna's like, you know, kind just kind of hugging the wall.
Speaker 1 (37:11):
Just Sinda gets bit on the arm.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
And Anna tries to escape through a door and you know,
she gets she gets through the gate and and shuts
them in and uh just Sinda starts yelling at her
you knew, and Anna tells her Dixon Dixon will.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
Kill you, and and Justina says, no, God is on
our side.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
Yeah it seems like it. That's fun, doesn't it.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
Yeah, you're room, Yeah, all this holy bloodshed and uh
Anna says, God, God gave up on us a long
time ago, and she uh, she gets taken down by walkers.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
Pretty well on us. Yeah, we need a bit more
than we needed to know.
Speaker 1 (38:07):
But you yeah, she was a fun character though I was.
Speaker 2 (38:11):
I say, I wish they'd left her at the dime
I moon and alive and they could have just had
because he didn't need all that, just st I could
have found out where the r from Polosee. People didn't
need to involve her, And I would would have liked
to think she was still running the demimon and keep
it all the vain and police.
Speaker 1 (38:31):
Yeah, yeah, why does she have to die? I don't
get it.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
No, so uh Ashe Lauran are are in the plane
and they're they're taxiing it down there their little makeshift runway,
and just Sinda goes back upstairs. You know, she's she's
freaking out because she was a bit and she uh,
she hears the plane and they all just start running
(39:01):
and uh, the plane is taking off and they're well,
it's taxiing down the across the landscape and Ash says
that the the carburetor is stubborn and they got to
tweak it. And Daryl says that, you know, that's it,
and uh Flu and Caudron are standing by and they
(39:24):
see a motorbike crossing the path and they start yelling,
and Carol says, they found us, and uh Ash says,
just give us some time to to get down that runway.
And they all start rushing, and Darryl grabs Laurent's shoulder
and says he I'll see you soon, and I promise.
Speaker 1 (39:45):
Yeah, no, I know.
Speaker 3 (39:46):
Stupid, and uh he gives him a hug, and and
the guys are all shooting, and and Cauldron is could
your own? Manages to take one out, and Flu gets
the other, and uh they're they're hiding in the horse stalls,
(40:07):
and Laurent gets in the plane and then Carol follows
follows into the plane as well, and she she looks
back at at at Darryl, just looking really like, you know,
I don't want to do this.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
She just really did not want to leave him behind.
Speaker 3 (40:26):
And and Darryl just looks at her and nod and
says says, I know go.
Speaker 2 (40:32):
So what was he I knowing? What it? Hans solo?
Was he saying? Was he anticipating that she was going
to see she loved him? Or was that she going
to see I don't want to go. I'm not going
to want to go. I don't want to leave you. Yeah,
what do you think.
Speaker 1 (40:46):
I think it was a little bit of both, baby.
Speaker 8 (40:48):
Yeah, but uh yeah, so she Carol shuts the door
and looks back again, you know, and Darryl's still shouting
at them get the hell out of there, and the
plane starts up and Ashes ashes very excited, and.
Speaker 3 (41:09):
Daryl watches them take off, and he then joins Blu
and Cadron, and Jacinta is just in just watching Hirom
the car, and she's it's so funny because like she's
just looking so dejected, like.
Speaker 1 (41:27):
She's gonna gian and bite on your arms.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
Even if you cut it.
Speaker 9 (41:33):
Off at this point, I think it's like you're dying
it and she's she's got like barn on our face
as well from like one of them Barner struttingers.
Speaker 4 (41:42):
So yeah, yeah, like it don't look sad about the plane.
It's not it's not a problem.
Speaker 2 (41:50):
Even if you huddle her out in front of you,
He's not gonna curious you're doomed whatever.
Speaker 3 (41:57):
Yes, yeah, crafty up, but uh, she you know, she
actually like she lasted. She lasted quite I don't I
don't know. Maybe her jacket probably protected her, you know.
Speaker 2 (42:12):
Yeah, yeah probably, Yeah, it didn't look like a really
bad bite.
Speaker 1 (42:16):
But yeah, but where oh yeah, so the.
Speaker 3 (42:25):
Could your own throat could toss as a hand grenade
as as more cars are showing up, and it's just
it's just a big fire fight with like the plane
trying to trying to get out in the middle of
it all. And Carrol looks back and says to Ash,
are we good? And and Ash says, yeah, we're good.
(42:47):
And Daryl is watching plane and uh. Ash pulls up
the throttle and starts down the run way and then
the bike goes. The el sees the bike going and
he shoots at it, and uh.
Speaker 1 (43:04):
And then.
Speaker 3 (43:07):
He shoots at it again and he finally gets him.
He finally gets the biker, which is you know, convenient. Yes,
Daryl's got to get on a bike at some point.
Speaker 2 (43:18):
Yes, he's got to fight a new bike. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (43:23):
Uh. Ash looks back and is very happy.
Speaker 3 (43:27):
And and he cheers, and uh he starts cheering and.
Speaker 1 (43:36):
The Darryl Darryl is is like, you know, still fighting.
Speaker 3 (43:40):
With these these dudes, but you know, eventually takes takes
him out and he uh, his his gun jams and
there's he takes out the jeep that that's heading towards
the plane, and just then it finally takes us and
(44:02):
ashyall suck it, motherfucker.
Speaker 2 (44:06):
I love that. In this scene, it just gets wait
and your season very good.
Speaker 1 (44:18):
Yeah, that was great. I loved it. But then you
know it care her hands out and there's no Carol.
How how that happened?
Speaker 2 (44:34):
Well, the first time I watched it, I was like,
did she jump out of a moving plane? Come on? However,
when I watched him back this time, there's a point
where you after she said to ash are you good?
And he says, yeah, we're good where the plane turns
at the end of the runways, obviously to go back
the way they've come, and like take a good run
at it, and it sits still for like a few
(44:57):
minutes and dart on a few minutes. But you know,
I mean there second or something, and Daryl's looking at it,
so I'm assuming that is when she gets out and
rolls into the grass at the side, because her side
of the plane is like away from Daryl, so he
can't see. So they did put it in I will
give them. I'll give them that they did put in
(45:19):
a moment where it could happen.
Speaker 3 (45:21):
Okay, Yeah, it just like like I've only watched I've
watched this two or three times, and I just I
could not figure it out for me.
Speaker 1 (45:29):
So I'm glad.
Speaker 2 (45:31):
Yeah, but I can't remember if you said it. Somebody
else said it to me that you know, you could
see that had Musli McBride not agreed to do another season,
that that could have been Carol's ending. She could have
left in the plane, gone back to America and I
could totally have seen that. But I'm very glad that's
(45:51):
what happened.
Speaker 1 (45:55):
Yes, exactly. And this is this where you where you
pick up.
Speaker 2 (46:04):
I will take over. Yeah, they watched, they watched the
plane fly off, and Jacinta realizes, oh, wait a minute,
I've been bitten. Everything's gone to hell. I'll just kill myself.
So she does, and Darryl looks and he's he saw
(46:31):
that Carol had taken the shot that took out the guy,
and he walks over to her and they're just sort
of smiling at each other, and she's like, I had that,
and she's like, yeah, I know, I really really wish
they'd made more of that scene. I wish that he'd
given her a little hug or whatever and or said
something like you're you're crazy. Why didn't you leave? You know?
(46:52):
And she could just say, as if I'm going to
leave you, you know, just something like that, as if I
was going after it came all this week, just a
little bit more to make it more, you know. There's
there's just not been enough of Daryl reacting with gratitude
that Carol is there, and I just would have liked
to have seen seen it. Then, so then we see
(47:15):
some again beautiful shots of France as the jeep with
caudron A flu and Aquila apparently I don't know, wish
she was through all this, but apparently she was nearby
and in the jeep and Darryl and Carol on the bike,
which is lovely, except we never got a close up
of it, which really irritatedly. We really fell it from
(47:37):
the distance and I was like, sures, Carol happy on
the bike. Take it back to that episode, you know,
ten one where Carol and Daryl are riding through the
trees and Carol's like bliss because she's she's with Daryl
when they're talking about running away girl. Anyway, that's just
me being what I wanted in my notes. I just
(47:58):
wrote all close up new bastards. So they stop at
some safe place if it looks like a farmhouse or something.
And if Lou says the people will be there by sundown,
Goron asks who are they? And if Lou says, there's
(48:20):
a couple I met at the Demimonde, they can help
us get to England. From there you can get to America.
Carol says, you speak English, and Fela says, well they're Scottish.
So no, how very dearely, and here comes I'm glad
I'm reading the book with the only friend Scottish characters
(48:42):
we've had in The Walking Dead, and I couldn't I
give back give my opinion on the Scottish representation.
Speaker 3 (48:52):
Yeah, that's funny, dear.
Speaker 2 (48:59):
So the jeep is overheating and Akila is looking at
it and just like the horses, isn't it? And she said, fully,
we had camels. I meant to say this. When we're
casting for season one came out, there was a lot
of talk about they were looking for Algerian French people,
and it seemed like there was going to be something
(49:20):
about the Algeria France, you know, the whole the war
from the six Sties and stuff. It never happened. I
don't know what happened to that, whether that was then
one of the different versions of the show and it
got written out, but I thought, oh, that would be
interesting learned about that. But anyway, by the.
Speaker 3 (49:37):
Way, if anybody is curious, camel burgers are delicious.
Speaker 2 (49:43):
Oh really, I've never I've had. I've had the Alligator
one of one of the stores here. So the soldier
unusual meats and it was very nice, just like chicken.
So Flu says, you know better in England, and she says,
(50:06):
I went to England as a girl and the food
was terrible. We're just filling all the stereotypes in these conversations,
and Plus says, you know, still, you could come with us,
But Achila says, no, I like Paris. There's something very
special surviving here. And she still hopes to find her sister.
Just then Angus and feel owner I to give them
(50:29):
proper and Scottish accents arrive and of course everybody draws
their gun on them, and Anger says Billie. Maybe your
paths guns up you know, pointing those things at us.
They brought a pheasant, and Fileu shows them he has
a crate full of food and drink, which they will
need to get through the checkpoint. They're going to go
through the Channel Tunnel, which, for those who don't know,
(50:51):
is a railway tunnel that passes under the English Channel
corrects England fast and apparently there's checkpoints where you need
something pay your way to get across. For Feona says,
this is this is a very true Scottish thing to say.
Is she says, good to meet You's we were Scottish
(51:13):
people say use with a plural. That's very.
Speaker 1 (51:18):
That's also kind of a Chicago thing too.
Speaker 2 (51:21):
Yeah, here guys. So the Angus, looking at this play, says,
oh that's plenty. Well, well there's too one bottle of wine,
too much. Let's let's enjoy it. So the next time
we see they're they're all camped for the night. They're
sitting around the fire and they're talking about sharing their
(51:41):
stories of of who they are and where they've come from.
Angus says they were. They were in Edinburgh for the
first few years, but Fiona wanted to get married, so
they decided to go to France after the apocalypse. That
makes no sense, but okay, we were young and dumb. Yes,
I agree. And the honest is I always had this
(52:03):
dream about France, the history, of the culture, of the food.
What was it like before the world turned to shype. No,
I just have to say this as a Scottish person. Yes,
I would absolutely be saying I'm going to France for
the food and the culture, But no Scottish person says
the route of France for the history. We have a
we have a shared history. We have as much history
that I was like that that that clearly was written
(52:23):
by an American, which I'm going to I'm going to
go on about Scottish in accuracies. So sit down and
be premiered.
Speaker 1 (52:36):
Yeah, I mean, you know, I yeah, like I yeah,
that was definitely Yeah, I agree, always written.
Speaker 2 (52:45):
I mean, I think the actors are both genuinely Scottish.
Their accents seemed real to me, so they maybe, you know,
gave their own little advice. I don't know, but anyway,
so Flu then takes the spotlight and I think this
is perhaps one of the reasons why Norman readers spoke
about this being the best episode ever. Is I think
he was doing a doing a Melissa and giving praise
(53:08):
to the other actors, because a lot of the other
actors take the spotlight in this episode far more than
he does. You know, we had Ana, we had Sinta,
We've got a Kila, and here it's flu. He talked
about his experiences when he lived in France before that.
His neighbors were racist, and you know, they were always
complaining that his food smelled too much and he was
(53:31):
too loud, and he said he worked in hospitals, so
he came all ours and the night and day, and
they complained about that. But then when the world turned
that everybody stayed in their own flats and tried to
get through it. And then one day his neighbor knocked
on the door with his his limp two year old
in his arms, and he thought she was dead, but no,
she just her airwere blocked and FELLU saved her life.
(53:53):
And even though the father didn't say anything, he saw gratitude.
And Angus says, so the apocalypse put in to racism, Yes,
as simple as that, like, okay, this is the first
time they've acknowledged you know that the racism that would
(54:14):
that would still like this, and you know, Flu is
an African man and and Akila is is Algerian. You
know they would have experienced at racism. So I'm glad
they've at least talked about it. But yeah, and Flu says,
(54:35):
you know, this is the way is It's it's leveled
the playing field. There's only two people now living in
the dead, so okay that Akila seems to get uncomfortable
and she gets something, so she's going to get more wood,
goes with her, and Carol what gets up and walked
out at the same time. It was really weird because
it was like there was tension that Carol didn't want
(54:57):
to be sitting with Daddle, and I was like, have
I missed the tenth I don't know. So Daryl watches
her go, but he doesn't get up. And then we
see Aquila and flew your gathering wood and she says
that his story made are sadluses Yeah, but the child
lived and alas is what happened to the family so
(55:20):
that they moved away and I used the furniture for firewood.
It got me through the winter. And just as he's speaking,
Aquila grabs him and kisses him, and she says it's
it's a goodbye in case you know tomorrow I won't
have the guts to do it, and says again, you know,
come with us, and no, I can't, not with her sister,
and she says, say goodbye again, and so they kiss,
(55:42):
and he was a really lovely kiss and fire better
than Darryl Elizabeth even though we'd only just met Akila.
They and it was like, where does this come from?
A girl bride all of a sudden, but yeah, exactly,
(56:03):
we totally get it. A he's gorgeous and he's like
seems gentle and unkind but also kick aff what to like.
We go back to the fire and cadron Is and
Daryl are the only two left sitting there. Daryl's still
(56:24):
looking at Carol, who's outside, and Cadron says, I'm sorry
about what happened with the nun, and Daryl, completely unbothered,
says because he's he's been a day two days now,
so he's like totally over it. He says she's probably
(56:46):
better off where she is, which is true because she's
with some real He does love her back, so that's awkward.
So Daryl Caudron says, oh yeah, just like my brother.
And he said, you know, his name was Michelle. It's
a very old name. And I used to laugh at that.
(57:06):
It was so hard to see him as a walker,
having to finish him off. And he said, in a way,
you put an end to a part of yourself, and
I was like, yeah, yeah, I can imagine that. So
Cadron gets up the courage to say, you know, you
never told me what happened when you killed Michelle, and
Daryl says, well, it didn't. A girl wait me to it,
(57:27):
and he like, poor girl. Darrel says, you know, the
skinny girl on the road. She was with an old
guy who took me into thinking he's blind. And Caldron
remembers them and he said, oh, she told me it
was you. And I was like, well, of course she would.
I would just say otherwise. And I really liked this
(57:48):
because Cadron's like, what, so everything that's happened since Marseilles, Marseilles,
everything that has gone on with the Abby and with
the well the next and everything, all of that need
not happen because it's it's it's a metaphor for the
entire because because it's like Darryl spends his whole time
(58:14):
in France, going do you have along here? Is this
where where I should stay? And the answer is no.
Speaker 1 (58:19):
So yeah, no, it really was, It really was, It was.
It was just all yeah.
Speaker 2 (58:27):
Yeah, all these people, hundreds of people died for nothing.
Speaker 1 (58:34):
Yeah, more all of the stories.
Speaker 10 (58:35):
Stay true to yourself, yeah, stay oil, don't Yeah, and
if somebody kills your brother, don't don't go after them
and try and get revenge because they might have done it.
Speaker 2 (58:46):
Yeah. So Codron is playing with the cross and obviously
contemplating forgiveness and whatnot. So Darryl then eventually goes out
to side to Carol and she's looking at the sky.
She says, you know they'll be there by now. Ezekiel's
probably showing Asher in Commonwealth. Judith will be teaching Lauren
(59:10):
how to music Darna, and Carol says she's getting tearful
to me, and she says to Daryl, you know, it
was never easy there. It never felt like home, which
is huge, huge statement because obviously they lived there for
at least a year, probably at eighteen months or thereabouts.
(59:33):
And I don't know if you remember the scene in
season eleven when she's speaking to Maggie and she says.
You know, she kind of makes clear she doesn't like
it because she says, I never see Darryl, and so
you know, she's saying that basically, the Commonwealth never felt
like home because Daryl wasn't there with her. When they
were in Alexandria, they both lived in the Grinds house
(59:55):
and I don't know why they didn't stay in the
same house in Commonwealth. Made no sense to me, but
apparently they didn't. And Daryl says, it'll be different this time,
we'll stay together. I was like, okay, what what what?
What do you mean by that? Do you mean, yes,
(01:00:19):
you're never going to leave again? Are you going to
start living together? Because that's going to be awkward if
you get a girlfriend. We don't know quite what it meant.
And it's a bit like it was just our passed by,
just as oh, we'll stay together, and I'll be going, oh, okay, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:00:35):
I was really confused by that whole thing too.
Speaker 2 (01:00:37):
Yeah, tell me more about that. What do you mean
by that? What are we done? Yes, there's another one
of those conversations where it's like they're not asking the
questions that you would actually ask in that situation. I
mean it's sweet, but it's like, oh, I want to
know more about this. But but we pivot to talking
(01:00:59):
about about Sophia and Carol says, you know, I can't
remember her face. I can only remember the version of
her that came out of the barn and the version
she was before that, the girl I sang with and
read stories to, laughed with that that time is taking
that away from me, and that is so sad. And
(01:01:22):
I suppose it's true because they have no visual you know,
without photographs, without videos, it must be so hard. And
you know that's I was thinking about Carol taking the
dictaphone from the last week and thinking, even if that's
just all is, I could understand her taking it because
if something happens to her, she still has his voice
(01:01:43):
on the tape. But now special that would be in
their world.
Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:01:48):
So, but Darryl, you know, is reasuring her. He rubs
her arm and she says, He says, you know, it's
more than that, you'll you'll It just seems like that
is the way it is at the moment, and Carol says,
I'm just tired, you know, Like, yes, Carol, we feel
the same way, and she says it all just got
(01:02:13):
turned up again, Sophia, Lizzie Henry a by which we
can now assume that Daryl knows all about Lizzie and
Carol's talked about it. I've scene and we're very annoyed
about that. Yeah, yeah, for years everybody waited for Carol
to tell Daryl about it, and it's happened. Yeah, anyway,
(01:02:34):
And that Darryl reassures her and says, none of that
was your pulp, which too, none of it was. And
and he is very sweet in the in this moment,
and he touches her face and has come here and
gives our hugs. She's crying on to his shoulder and
he says, we keep going.
Speaker 11 (01:02:52):
That's what we do.
Speaker 2 (01:02:53):
And I would have liked something about more meaningful as
his reassurance, but better than nothing it yes, And so
the next morning they're back on the bike and the
jeep and they go along the beach again. It could
(01:03:14):
have been a beautiful scene, but no, and they arrived
at the charl Tunnel and Angus says, oh, it's a
bit for worse for wear, but we can still get through.
It's fifty kilometers to England, and Fiona tells Carol it
took nine hours to walk. They start saying they're goodbye.
(01:03:35):
Is Carol hugs Aquila. I was like, oh, look good
free well freend for Carol. Oh I wish a Kela
says we'll be here thinking of you guys, and Dar says,
come on, let's go, and Fleu falters and eventually he
calls to them and says, oh, courage my friends. I
know you'll get where you're going. He's decided to stay
(01:03:58):
and he says I have a reason for staying now,
and I was like, oh, oh, call back to d
d saying reasons are everywhere, you know, and so I
thought that was really sweet. And then Codron and Flu hugged,
which I love, and that was really cute. Their bro
ship was really touching me because then Cadron says, I
(01:04:21):
told you can like the actor. Romaine is a big shipper. Clearly,
So Carol thank hugs Flu and says thanks, and then
get Daryl and him chair hug and he says something
(01:04:42):
in French, and as he walked away, Darl says to Cadron,
what did he say? And Cadron says, he said, your
brother's an arms and Dar said, oh yeah, I thought
That's what he said, was like, yeah, your French is
getting better as you leave the country. So then they
going to the tunnel and Dad'll ask what England's like
(01:05:08):
and I just says it's shite. That's accurate. A Scottis
person would see that. But Fiona clarifies and says that
the army took over pretty quickly in England and locked
it down, and so it was in quite good shape
when they left, and just said, yeah, but they're English,
(01:05:30):
so was still fucking shite, you know, as as a.
Speaker 3 (01:05:37):
As somebody who whose grandmother came here from Ireland and
his grandparents came here from Ireland and who had a
cousin who.
Speaker 1 (01:05:47):
Was a very well known member.
Speaker 2 (01:05:49):
Of the I r a very right.
Speaker 3 (01:05:53):
George Harrison. Oh yes, yeah, he was a cousin of mine.
It's uh, yeah, I can.
Speaker 2 (01:06:04):
Yeah Scottish and Irish people and and yeah, there's a
little line coming up here and I'll say something. But
when Angus says fucking every other word is totally the
way Scottish people speak, use it as just like taking
a breath in between words, and so I thought that
that was very realistic. So as they're walking down the tunnel.
(01:06:28):
Carol kicks it a sort of mound or something, and
she said, what's that FURNI says, it's guano. It's batshit
from there's obviously thousands and thousands of backs. And she says,
don't don't touch it because it's psychoactive. If you breathe
in too much of it, you're going to you'll start hallucinating.
And you know, I.
Speaker 3 (01:06:50):
Just remembered I did have it. I did have a
name for today and peace and at last. I just
remember now that my name was.
Speaker 11 (01:06:59):
Going to going on psychosis. Yes, I'm just going to
change it for the last few minutes.
Speaker 2 (01:07:12):
Okay. That of course, that brings up that's the second
time that Glenn was featured in The Walking Dead, because
that was remember Dart and Daryl and Ezekiel had a
conversation about it while they waited for Carol to get
off the boat. Oh that's funny. There's as they're walking along,
there's water coming through the ceiling, and you know, Carol's
(01:07:33):
worried about that. As we know, she's a clausphobic, and
she says, drowning is not on my to do list.
But I'm just reassures her and says, don't worry. The
pressure will kill you long before your hair gets it.
And I really like to delivery that when Carol's like,
that's comforting, thank you, and then she says how much?
(01:07:54):
How do you know? How f are we gone? And
they said, there's the yellow doors every half kilometer and
they see some lights up in the distance and he says, oh,
that must be the first checkpoint, and Sol says, what
why is it so close to France? And Angus says,
to keep out the fucking French. And I was like, hey, hey, now, hey, now,
(01:08:20):
Scottish people love the French. We have the connection with
Scotland and France. It's called all the Lions, and we
love the French that we'll have no French English unless
it's rugby, and then everybody hates every so I Fiona says,
(01:08:41):
put your guns away, and well, we don't want to
piss them off because it's the army. So the Angus
shouts they've got wine.
Speaker 5 (01:08:47):
And.
Speaker 2 (01:08:50):
The Queen yes, hate dead. So they they get up
to what would be the checkpoint and they see that
everybody there is dead. The Angus cranks up a generator
(01:09:12):
to show some sheds and light on it, and the
darrel says, oh, these people have all killed each other,
and Carly, why would they have done that if you said, well,
the guano has has made them paranoid at me, you
see things, and so they've lost their minds. Some of
the dead bodies have been there's some gas masks, but
(01:09:32):
a lot of them are damaged from the killing each other.
So they got through some some more gates. I've just
lost my place, and excuse me. They see this glowing
green everything, which when I saw the trailer I assumed
it was some radioactive type stuff. But no, yeah, like,
(01:09:57):
there's no there's no again, there's no what reason for
this doll glow? They just obviously thought it would look cool.
So Pianists explains you by iluminescence, that some animals and
plants generate their own light, and Daryl says, like fireflies.
I gritted my teeth. So they there's there's walkers all
(01:10:22):
lying all around, and darl says, you'll follow me in
single fire and keep quiet. But the effects of the
guano start to kick in, and Carol's like get dizzy,
and everybody's appearing a bit bloody. Angus falls over and
the walker gets up and Daryl sees the walker and
(01:10:45):
looks like, does it look like him? But it looks
all weird, like its face is melting, so it doesn't.
It's affecting him as well. Carol goes to kill one
of the walkers, but she sees it Sophia and she's
grabbed from behind, but she manches to stop that walker. Meanwhile,
Cadron looks at his gun and it's turned into a
(01:11:07):
sword and the walker and bizarre, Yeah, why they just
just said to Joe's will licinating, I guess, and he
the walker in front of him has become Michelle. And
Darryl kills that walker to see Cadron, but of course
(01:11:27):
Caudron goes, no, you killed my brother and starts attacking down.
Speaker 3 (01:11:31):
So I got I don't like, I don't know why
I found this so funny, But first I ever watched it,
I like, I was just laughing my ass off.
Speaker 1 (01:11:40):
I don't know why.
Speaker 2 (01:11:44):
It was a.
Speaker 1 (01:11:47):
Yeah, I like, I don't know why I found it
as funny as I did. Like, you know, I don't.
I don't think anybody did anything funny or anything. Yeah,
for some reason, I just found hilarious.
Speaker 2 (01:12:03):
Especially when he's gonna turned into a sword. I was
just like what And Carol is following the Sofia walker.
She goes through a yellow door into the service tunnel
and she's she's crying and walker starts coming towards her,
and one of them looks like Carol. She sees herself
(01:12:25):
as a walker and she's, you know that obviously sort
of is a representation of her own suicidal feelings and
her fear of dying and what's going to happen, and
so she's she's ready to stab the woman, but she
falls to her knees and the walker disappears that she's
(01:12:45):
just we're kneeling crying. I mean, obviously, Cadron and Dial fighting.
Coudron tries to stab down He made me actually stabs him.
I'm not entirely yeah, and then it was like nobody
mentions it.
Speaker 1 (01:13:00):
Goes so, I don't know what, there's very deep you
might have liked.
Speaker 2 (01:13:06):
Oh, Darrek can brush off, stab wounded, nothing and just disease.
He's going to, you know, do more damage to Daryl.
Coudron sees Michelle walking away and he goes off after him,
and Daryl gets goes to get up and to get
the gas masks, but Angus greets him and knocks him
(01:13:28):
out with his shovel. He says, you know there's not enough.
That's master go round and me and fe won to
have people waiting for us. We see go back to Carol.
She's still sobbing, and she sees Sophia in front of her,
and it's Sophia looking like Sophia not looking like a walker,
which is obviously huge, and Carol just says, here you are,
(01:13:52):
which is so lovely. It's just, you know, Melissa McBride
in this whole scene is just makes everything work well,
you know. And she looks at Sophia's turned to walk away,
and Carol says, hasn't been so long, and Sophia runs
and embraces her and she hugs her, hold her tour
(01:14:13):
and karasas canna come with you, but Sophia pulls away
and their hands slowly part and walks away and Carol smiles. Meanwhile,
Daryl's on the ground, still sort of dazed from Angus
hitting him, and he looks to his right and he
sees Isabelle and it's the exact vision you saw the
(01:14:35):
very first time he saw her when she was walking
towards him and saved him, and it's all blurry. She
comes and she hovers over him. It's godstly fashion. It's
a weird, really weird position. And she says, you think
you've had enough, you think there's nothing left inside you,
(01:14:58):
you think it's over, but you won't die. And she
reaches and at his neck and pulls up dog tags,
which he looks up. Of course I aren't really there,
but it's his grandfather's dog dog and she says, not
like him, and he looks and he sees his grandfather,
who turns and walks away, and Isabelle says, remember when
we first met, what I told you bet on hope,
(01:15:20):
and she touches his face and then she disappears, and
that gives Daryl the impetus to get up, and he
fights Angus and kills Angus and Fiona shoots someone's like, oh,
he just doesn't care now, and he takes their masks
and he breathes in for a minute, and then he
(01:15:41):
takes it off and he sees Isabelle again in the distance,
and she turns and walks away and becomes fireflies because
she's tinker, and she says, she says oh, courage, mister Dixon.
And yeah, so that was her. I don't know what
she was there for to give Daryl courage to keep going.
(01:16:02):
And it's just also messy. I just don't know what
I'm meant to be thinking, or rather what Daryl's thinking,
especially then. And this was the most disappointing, underwhelming ending,
completely ah infuriating that Carol just walks up to me.
(01:16:24):
He gives her a mask and she go, you're right, yeah,
you're right where I don't know. He ran off and
Carol says, let's go home, and they walked down the
chant the tunnel. I was like, really, that's it. Neither
of you are going to say, oh my gosh, you're
still here. I just had something, really, you know, I
(01:16:44):
don't know. Daryl could have said, I know what I'm
supposed to do now, and Daryl could have said let's
go home. That would have been nice. There was a
script leak from this scene and they were are more
lines in it, and they cut them. Don't know why, yea, yeah,
(01:17:08):
including Daryl talking about.
Speaker 9 (01:17:11):
Glenn and Marilyn Beth and you know, all these other
people that he felt guilt over, which showed that this
was about for each of them, it was a representation
of their guilt, and for Daryl it was guilt over
saving not saving Isabelle.
Speaker 2 (01:17:25):
And instead it just becomes this kind of love appearance,
and I I don't like it. And then it makes
even less sense because then as they were walking down
the Channel channel the rolling Stones can't always get what
you want appears again and we're like, what what? What?
What did darld want? It was? You know, is it
(01:17:47):
that he wanted Isabelle he thought he wanted Isabelle but
he doesn't. Or is it that he thought he wanted
to go home but he is anyway? Is it that
he thought he wanted Lauren except he didn't want Lauren? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:18:02):
Yeah, I don't know. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:18:05):
I'm really looking forward to I'm hoping there'll be some
of the you know, insider type interviews about that.
Speaker 3 (01:18:12):
I mean, I feel like what I feel like he
wanted to I feel like he just wanted to go
home and that's.
Speaker 1 (01:18:19):
You know, and that's all That's what it was.
Speaker 2 (01:18:22):
Yes, Yeah, he wanted to go home and and in
fact he didn't need. What he needed was Carol to
be there, and that's the whatever his want is that
it's clear that the need is him with Carol. Yeah,
that's facing their future together in whatever manner that is.
It's just very confusing what the want side of things is.
(01:18:44):
But I mean it's it makes sense for Ash and Lauren,
you know, both of them. The Ash thought he wanted
to stay where he was in his homestead, and what
he needed was Carol to bring him out and give
him a new son. And Laurent thought he wanted to
stay there, but he you know, he needed to go
back to America when he was safe and Helo and
(01:19:05):
Havas is his father. And even Carol, you know, her
want and need were the same thing. She she thought
she would just wanted to find Daryl, but what she
needed was to process the stuff about Sophia. And she's
done that, so she's got what she needs. But it's
just I just want to hear that war from Dalla's
(01:19:26):
point of view. I just haven't heard enough of it.
Speaker 1 (01:19:29):
Yeah, yeah, I agree, and I wish, like, you know,
it was so important that.
Speaker 3 (01:19:36):
That Carol not rely on him just as like as
for her healing, you know, like for her to like
for him to just make everything feel better, like it
was important for her to actually heal on her own.
But I wish that they had found a way of
doing that other than like him just kind of ignoring her.
Speaker 2 (01:20:04):
That sounds basically yeah, yes, yes, you're you're right. It
had to be clear that it wasn't just you know,
being around Darryl and him comforting or was not going
to cure her. It hadn't in the past ten years.
She needed something else and it was for her to
process it. But they could have done that with whilst
(01:20:29):
darl was still being a bit more friendly. I'm not
talking about romantic love or whatever, just how you would
react if it was just someone you cared about. You know,
I had done this for you and I when I
was when I was trying to think about sort of
the metaphors of the show and stuff, and I was
(01:20:50):
thinking about my anger about the lack of close ups
when they're on the the the bike, and I thought,
you know, that's it's like a metaphor for how they
treated that, how they're afraid to go too close into
them and really look at them close up, like because
it will show too much.
Speaker 1 (01:21:09):
I feel that they separated them so much on the shell.
Speaker 2 (01:21:13):
Exactly because they knew that if if they have to
progress in any way, it's going to take them to
a place they're not ready to go. So they just
have to keep separating them and then bringing back to
square one and bring them back. Yeah, and it's frustrating.
Speaker 3 (01:21:28):
Yeah, yeah, it's it's annoying, but now it's all about them,
so yes, exactly, Yeah, it's yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:21:36):
This this episode was very Yes, sorry.
Speaker 1 (01:21:44):
For anybody who doesn't understand that reference, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:21:53):
It's yeah, it's This episode was very clear to me,
bringing down the curtain on the France, you know cast,
and like they wanted to give everyone a moment in
the spotlight, so they all got it and that was fine,
and I think I would have preferred more of that.
And I've said this all long, and this is I'm
not just saying this as a Carol and Our shipper,
(01:22:15):
but the Daryl and Isabelle romance was completely pointless, added
nothing to the story whatsoever, And they could have cut
it for a lot more in depth into all all
of the characters, and that would have been far better.
But hejo, it's done now, we can't change the past.
Speaker 1 (01:22:32):
And I just don't understand why all the women had.
Speaker 2 (01:22:36):
Died, Yes exactly, but why did Sylvie have to die?
Why did I can understand why isabel had to die
because once they made her Daryl's romantic interest, she was
doomed because oh, it really would have been better if
(01:22:57):
Carol had shown up and Daryl had gone right, yeah, no, sorry,
I do want to go instead of oh he's he
has no choice, he's only and it does. I understand
why people who don't like Carol and Daryl are saying this,
and I can understand it because that's how it does
(01:23:17):
seem that they're like, oh, well, Carol's just second choice
because Isabelle's dead. You're like, no, it shouldn't. It shouldn't
seem that way. And it can seem that way if
that's how you want to read it.
Speaker 3 (01:23:32):
Yeah, yeah, for sure. But you know, I'm glad that
I'm glad that Fulu got a good ending.
Speaker 2 (01:23:38):
Yes, me too.
Speaker 1 (01:23:39):
We don't know about he's just out there high on piano.
Speaker 2 (01:23:50):
Maybe they'll do what they did in fear, you know,
and he's just going to pop up again in another
country and he'll be like oh.
Speaker 3 (01:23:57):
Yeah, yeah, and he's he's pulled a dead city and
found out how to, uh, how to how to turn
guana into a drug.
Speaker 1 (01:24:08):
Drug.
Speaker 2 (01:24:12):
Yeah, that's future for control there. And it's just it's
just a shame that they killed off so many of
them that when they could have just had dadle go. Look,
I've helped you now and now I'm leaving. You know,
they didn't all have to die for that.
Speaker 3 (01:24:28):
Yeah, for sure, Yeah I was. I was very sad
about Sylvie. But yeah, I just don't like that all.
I just I don't know, I just don't like that
all the women die.
Speaker 2 (01:24:35):
That's that's snow.
Speaker 1 (01:24:37):
That's very upsetting.
Speaker 2 (01:24:40):
It's not a good look.
Speaker 1 (01:24:42):
No, it's not at all. Yeah, maybe maybe I need
a female showrunner.
Speaker 2 (01:24:48):
Yeah, maybe they do that.
Speaker 1 (01:24:50):
That would be uh yeah, that that might be a
good idea.
Speaker 2 (01:24:54):
I'm already disappointed they didn't ask me to consult as
a as the Scottish script. I'm very fainted to that name.
Speaker 1 (01:25:04):
That's that's just nonsense, terrible.
Speaker 2 (01:25:09):
But hey, if we're talking female showrunners, I just want
to see LaToya Morgan. She's the woman for me. She
She is an incredible writer who was also she was
like a consultant I think on Season eleven and she's
big down Kyle, not just not, but I think she
(01:25:32):
would you know she under she would understand the characters,
where I'm not convinced that David Zbel did. Now.
Speaker 3 (01:25:39):
He makes that clear in every single interview. He sounds
like like has never watched the show before. It's so
it's so disturbing, it's so upsetting, like it's God, it's
it's it's almost like he's just showrunner entitle only.
Speaker 1 (01:25:55):
Yes, yeah, I mean that's the way it appears. It's
just it's so bizarre.
Speaker 2 (01:26:00):
His his the stuff he has said, and I don't
think we talked about this on the on the podcast,
but the stuff that he said about Jeanie and her story, like, no,
that's not what happened. It's like he's thinking about He
said that Jeanie was just a simple woman who was
(01:26:21):
driven by the fact that her husband died and she
didn't get to babies with him. What did you miss that?
Speaker 7 (01:26:33):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I didn't them, all of them, all
of them, for all of them, all of them right now?
Speaker 1 (01:26:51):
Oh my god, no, yeah, I miss that completely.
Speaker 2 (01:26:58):
Yeah. I was not happy that at all because and
he said, oh that's why the in the the season
one scene where she comes to fore Low's place and
she picks up the baby and it's a bit of
a creepy scene. He's like, she's thinking about the baby,
she could have heard what not comes across that she's
threatening them, and like they put this whole thing in
(01:27:21):
her backstory about you know, the workers and the strike
and that it's about. And then episode is called The
Invisible you know, it's about the how she feels that
the workers were treated and the poor people were treated
when the apocalypse happened and the rich people all got
to go off follows the poor people were struggling. That's
(01:27:41):
what motivated her. But no, no, she I mean he
used that literal phrase she was just a simple woman,
and I wanted to throw Oh my god, don't don't
let him write female characters ever.
Speaker 5 (01:28:00):
Know.
Speaker 1 (01:28:02):
I just hope Melissa McBride just step rolls over him.
Speaker 2 (01:28:07):
Seriously.
Speaker 1 (01:28:08):
Oh God, that just makes me want of you.
Speaker 2 (01:28:11):
Yeah really, yeah. I thought it was bad whenever. You know,
he was talking about Darryl, and I'm like, oh, it's
not really good, good handle on Darryl. But then when
he said that, I was serious, like, god, h you know,
he has said stuff about Darryl since then and now
by other characters and it's just like you you don't
(01:28:33):
know these characters at all, and you're not even that
you don't know what you've written. That's not how what
you what is coming across on school?
Speaker 3 (01:28:43):
Yeah, it's not good. It's not a good situation. It's
objectively bad.
Speaker 2 (01:28:47):
Yes it is. Yes, I will say that. This week
he seemed to go from when I think it was
when they were Tribeca stuff like that. He was talking
about and Sandy Comic. He was talking about season four
and blah blah blah, we might go this. He's not now,
(01:29:08):
he's just talking about season three. That we're just focusing
on season three. We don't know what'll come after that.
So I hope it's not the end of the show.
And but it is just the end of the show runner.
Speaker 3 (01:29:23):
Well, I mean they've switched showrunners in mid season before, Yes, they.
Speaker 2 (01:29:28):
Have indeed in season three. Yep, yea mm hmm. It's messy.
Speaker 3 (01:29:37):
Yeah, yeah it really is. But yeah, we so obviously
that's that's the end of our Oh wait, we gotta.
Speaker 1 (01:29:44):
Do angel wings?
Speaker 2 (01:29:45):
Oh yes, oh yeah, of course.
Speaker 1 (01:29:49):
Yeah, who gets your Okay this week.
Speaker 2 (01:29:52):
My angel wings, I'm going to give them to Aequila
for being awesome. In one episode we never met her before,
she gets a flush, she kills the man she gets
to go for me. I love her And the suspenders,
I'm going to give them to Angus for being a
terrible representation of Scotland to the to the French, and
(01:30:18):
for double crossing Doryl and being selfish. No true Scottsman
would do that.
Speaker 3 (01:30:23):
So yeah, I give my I'm going to give my
suspenders to just Sinda because yeah, she's such a pretty
terrible person. And also she just like seems like she
was completely in denial about the fact that she was fitting.
Speaker 2 (01:30:39):
On the arm.
Speaker 1 (01:30:42):
She's still looking sad that the plane is taking off
without her.
Speaker 12 (01:30:47):
You really did in Our Lady We love Yeah, and yeah,
and I guess I'll give I guess I'll give the
angel wings to I'll get the Angel wings to Carol
Yay jumping out of the plane.
Speaker 3 (01:31:05):
And and and being you know, and and therefore continuing
her journey into uh into season three.
Speaker 1 (01:31:12):
Yeah, it is otherwise, you know, she that would.
Speaker 2 (01:31:15):
Be the end of her. I would be the end
of it. Yeah, we're you know, for the fact that
she keeps going even the Donald's giving her nothing in return. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:31:26):
Yeah, yeah exactly, and for you know, and for and
for for dealing with uh with her ship while high
on on pigeon.
Speaker 2 (01:31:35):
Ship very good, she had a very good trip.
Speaker 1 (01:31:43):
Yes, yeah, but uh yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:31:51):
So obviously this is the last episode of the season
for us, But like I said, I would eventually, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:31:58):
When things slow down with our other Yeah, I would.
Speaker 2 (01:32:00):
Like to do some you know, a couple of well,
do a couple of Yeah, hopefully we'll get I mean
it's it's dying down now, but hopefully we'll start to
get some build up towards season three and what you know, yeah,
things start coming out. We'll do some. Once we get
trailer and stuff like that, we'll be back.
Speaker 1 (01:32:21):
Yeah, yeah, for sure.
Speaker 3 (01:32:23):
I when I was going through our podcast, I also
didn't mention the I neglected to mention the ones that
we are not covering right now, but that we cover
when they're on. We also have the Antler Queens, which
is actually what started this whole thing, and that it's
our Yellow Jackets podcast and we are we have actually
(01:32:44):
just I'm going to put more out more out about
this soon, but we've just joined the Believe Network, so
that's really exciting. The Antler Queens has joined the Believe Network,
not Cyberg Queen, but I'll be putting out some more
info on that soon. And also we have the Severed
Floor coming up soon, which is our Severance podcast, and
(01:33:07):
that's going.
Speaker 1 (01:33:07):
To be starting as soon.
Speaker 3 (01:33:08):
We have four four episodes left of season three of
From and then we're going to start our season one
coverage of Severance right after that, and then season two
starts in January, so that is just a little more
than a few months away, so.
Speaker 1 (01:33:27):
That'll be fun, that'll be cool.
Speaker 3 (01:33:30):
We may actually, like I know, we may wait a
little bit longer and just cover season one right before
season two starts. I don't know, we'll see what. We'll
try to figure it out. But also don't forget the
if you're FROM fan to tune into our Sunday night
after shows so you can get a chance to win
the cameo from David alpay aka Jade, and maybe I'll
(01:33:53):
win a cat shirt as well.
Speaker 1 (01:33:55):
I have one myself and I love my cat shirt.
It's very fun. But that's it for us for now,
and we hope to see you guys soon. Take care everybody,
Bye bye.
