first eleven minutes.

Anyway back on the Carrol train. So much good stuff
to talk about. Very excited mm hmm. I did get
to listen to the panel on my way to and
from therapy.

Oh my gosh, but we did. So what did you
think of the trailer? Done?

It was pretty much what I expected it to be,
which is a big focus on the action and you know,
seeing Carol back kicking us.

Which is what we all want see. There were I
don't think there were many huge surprises in it for.

you know, giving us a little bit of an idea.
And I love that they put that end shot with

to meet up. But you know what I empty is

So I like that because I thought they're not going
to have them together at all in the in the trailer,
because that gives it away that they do meet up.

And there's an interesting scene with Let's saying is talking
to everybody, and I will remind everybody again that before
we even met him, I said this guy is gonna

Oh, yeah, I it goes back to the comment that
he made to Darryl about how today controls all the
ports around there, but somehow those sayings able to get
a boat.

They're like talking about some people that are like that.
They're fighting and apparently Fulu is with them, so that's
kind of interesting.

There there's like there's some we see Darryl and Isabelle
passing each other. It looks it almost looks like there's
some tension between them. I can't I can't figure it out.
But uh, Daryl goes and talks to Las sang the
saying asks him to hang back, and he wants Daryl
to to stop training Laurent because he wants him to

prioritize empathy and you know, over fighting skills. She knows
to get to go overwell of Darryl. But we then
see Darryl, Isabel and Laurent outside of outside of the nest,

and she's asking him if he thinks he could be
happy there, and he's like, I don't know that this
is where I'm supposed to be. And I keep thinking
about all the people back home, and I wonder if
they're still thinking about me. And we then cut to

an image of Carol. Immediately she's going to She's on
the bike and she's she drives into the woods. She's
going to a high point to scout out the the
body shop and she rolls in there and you know,
we got that whole scene in the teaser trailer, and

she was What I loved about this is so the guy.

You know, we we saw in the teaser trailer. We
saw one of the guys.

Called Daryl an asshole, and they weren't really being very
helpful beyond that, and she and then one of the
other guys was like called him a piece of ship.

at that point and doesn't put up a fight when
she goes to to take the car and.

a trunk. He's got about an hour.

She then drives one of the guys at the the
the main guy, the black guy. I'm not sure if

He had told Carol that you know, he had got Daryl,
had gotten put on a boat to France, and like
she thinks that he's fucking with her.

But he's like, you can, you can go see the ship,
take a look at the shipyard.

He tells her where to go, and she goes over
there and she's just it kind of ends with her
just standing there looking at looking at the these broken
down ships. Now something interesting?

first eleven minutes here. During the panel, David's Abel said
that it talked about a scene that was about ten
minutes in that we know what that scene is about.

really soon before.

Yeah, So I wonder how, because I wonder how they're
going to transition into that, Like are they just gonna

I from what I've heard from people who saw the
entire episode at the Tribeca premiere, Carol goes to see
they ends up in this farm, which is as we learn,
Ashes is farm, and very quickly has this I wouldn't

call it a dream or even a hallucination, but more
of a sort of a flashback PTSD moment.

chilling that that was about it for the first eleven minutes.
Don What what highlights do you want to talk about
from the panel.

There are a couple of things I want to talk about,
apart a far from Norman saying of course we're going
to meet which is my favorite thing entirely that happened,
just the way I watched that moment over and over
because I just I love the fact that without Scott
Kembel there and I wish it the man no Ill
Covid is awful.

I hope he gets bet soon.

Speaker 4 (15:32):
But without him there as a sort of leash on Norman.
Norman was a bit more, you know, loose tongued, so
he was able to mention this, you know that they
do meet up. And in one of the other interviews,
I think it's the Variety interview, Melissa as well sort

of says, yeah, it's not too long into it and
if we go back to Tribeca, and Norman said then
and people thought he was joking, but I don't think
he is.

He said that the reunion happens in the second episode,
so I think we can take that as probable that
you know, they're going to meet fairly soon.

And Norman was talking about and Zabel was talking about
it as well. He was asked about the weight of,
you know, bringing these two characters together again and the
pressure that he was under to create it, and I
thought that was really I'm glad it was brought up,
and I'm glad Zabel and heard it, you know, the

way he did that.

He understands the importance of these two characters and their connection,
and so writing.

A moment like that where they have a reunion is
a huge deal, and I'm glad he's he understands that.

And it's not just oh yeah, they meet up again.

You know, they're taking it as seriously as it as
it is to the audience. I thought Zabel did really
well in the paranel.

Actually, I thought he was really good.

I did too.

I had some I had some beef with him last
year because it kind of came across to me like he.

Like he didn't know what was going on, you know

It really bothered me so it's I'm glad that he
seems a lot more in touch with the show now
with the character.

And maybe it took Maybe it was because he hadn't
had these deep, you know, conversations with Melissa, which they
Melissa has said that they had again that was Tribecca.

She talked about that that she met with was able
to really talk about Carol's past and the stuff that
she thinks is important and she wants to see brought
up again. So maybe he hadn't really had that connection
with Carol, particularly until some time between between then and now,
and so that he he's improved his his knowledge based

Yeah, yeah, I yeah, that's good. I do like that he.

That he said that that Daryl and Carroll were his
favorite characters. Yeah, that that made me happy. Yes, But yeah,
I'm just I'm really relieved he did a lot better
and he made me feel better about his involvement than
he did last year, because I just I felt like

the way it came across last year, I felt like
they just brought some guy on to talk about the show,
and like just some random dude just plopped him on
the stage. Yeah, yeah, ye, so, and you know, and
maybe I don't know, maybe some of it was maybe
he was nervous. Maybe he was he wasn't sure, like

he wasn't comfortable what he could say, what he should say,
and what he shouldn't say.

Yeah know what I mean? That could be.

Yeah, I think I think that maybe he he is
more comfortable in his position with AMC and with you know,
with Norman and Melissa and with Greg, He's in a
more comfortable position where he feels able, freer to talk.
And I will say in the Variety interview, there were
a couple of uncomfortable moments where Melissa was was clearly uncomfortable,

and Abel stepped in there and sort of took the
took it on himself to answer. So I really felt
grateful to him for that. So I thought they you know,
he was reading the room basically at that moment. So
that gave me a lot more confidence in him as
a person as a showrunner.

that it's been renewed for seasons.

And I really enjoyed Scott Gimble the quote in the
official statement because Scott Gimble, who is you know, anaphylactically
allergic to spoilers, basically says nobody from France is going,

which I just think is hilarious, especially given the trailer.

The trailer does hang on this question is Daryl going
to stay in France? Is he going to you know,
form a new family with Laurent and Isabelle.

And then this announcement comes out and it's a quote
from Scott and Gimple of all people, which says, yes,
Darryl and Carol are going.

To Spain with lots of new characters. But that's that
question answered.

Yeah, and we kind of have an idea of how
that's going to happen, but we we can't really talk
about that, no, but.

I'm just I'm so so excited to have her back.
I'm just oh my god, I couldnot I just could
not be more excited. And I loved and we'll get

I saw the lash out of the trailer with her

It was just great to see the two of them
there in the same space exactly.

And I think, to me, the overall thing I want
to point out from the panel is how happy Melissa
it was.

You know, she was laughing and she seemed to lax.
I'm sure she wasn't, because she's spoken for you know.

How she gets overwhelmed in those situations. But it's such
a night and day from when she was promoting The
Walking Dead towards the end of the seasons, and I
think that says a lot about how happy she is
about the work she's producing, how comfortable she feels about
promoting it because she is confident in what she's promoting

Not having to not lie. But you know when you
have to promote something you're not fond of and you
have to kind of work your way around that.

happy they are. And if Melissa is happy, then I
am as a viewer.

Issue with it whatsoever, because I challenge anyone to think
of a different work.

is we're true, say from episode two, they can't.

are friends, and then it's going to develop into something
from that.

during interviews about how well they both kind of talked

The The one thing that was said that I that
I loved the most was she she said that in

think it was one of the interviews, she said, when

And she said in that very first interview, the little
sort of behind the scenes interview that MC posted at
the end of the season, she said, you know, Carol
is holding something back.

something stirs up. So we know that Carol has been

So she has had this time, we don't know how
long months, a couple of months or what, you know,

and now On starting the first of August, and season
two will be running at the same time as it
is in the USA, which is so exciting for.
