we are discussing the finale of theOnes Who Live and you guys are gonna
laugh at me now, but Idon't care. I just found my gray
headband, so I'm changing my headband. Doesn't just my swatter anyway. Yeah,

it's uh, you know, Iwas. I didn't read the I
didn't read the Oh. Yeah,they're so freaking short though. For this
show, I swear to god,it's literally Rick and Micheone have to perform
a near impossible miracle. That's theplots. Ano. Yeah that's all you

need to know. But yeah,it's my opinion. I shared this last
night and I think if you guyswere watching our after show, Tricia said.
Tricia echoed my thoughts perfectly. Inmy opinion, it was a series

(02:15):
finale. It was probably my leastfavorite of the season. But I rarely
like series finales. They're they're rarelylike other than Six Feet Under I don't
think I've ever which was fucking masterpiece. Did you watch Six Feet Under done?

(02:38):
I watched the first season, butI didn't watch after that. Oh
my god, that the finale ofthat show is like one of the best
things I've ever seen on TV.It was an absolute masterpiece, which which
is funny because I went on towatch Dexter after that for Michael C.

(02:58):
Hall, which had like the absoluteworst. But uh yeah, it's serious
and allies are rarely great. They'rehard to make great because it's like they
either they either leave things open theyyou know they're there, are loose ends,

or ties up a little too neatly, And in this case, it
tied up too neatly, which isbetter than leaving loosense. Totally, I
agree. It was one of thosethings you just have to kind of like
not think about too much, shutyour brain off a little, and just
enjoy it. For what it isthey gave. I mean, they gave

most of us what we wanted,which was important. We wanted Rick to
see his kids, and that wasthat's that's important that you know. Unfortunately,
that's what happened. And uh,you know, it was just there
were a lot of really ridiculous moments. But the one thing though that that

it did really, really, reallywell better than I could have anticipated,
is that I was sad that itwas coming to an end, and because
I just I love, Yeah,it's nice seeing Rick, but I mean,
I'm all about Michelle, and Iwas really sad about the idea of

(04:33):
not seeing her again after this,and they left it in such a good
place that I'm fine with it.Yeah, yeah, I'm fine with not
seeing these characters again because I'm satisfiedthat they got their happy ending exactly.
You don't want to see it disturbed. Like it's just, you know,

it wouldn't make saying Ricky, Micheand have done all this to get home
to the kids and then they likedays later, oh, we've just got
to go and fight something or findDonald or whatever, you know, any
ridiculous thing. No, we don'twant that. It destroys what you've given
us in this reunion, so that'sfine. Let them be happy. Yeah,

Yep, the white worn nuts before, right, Yeah, yeah she had

Yeah, yeah, I'm thinking likeseason season three, No, maybe season
six, yeah, maybe I feellike it was early on. Yeah,
but it was just it was drivingme nuts. I was so focused on,

was directed or it was. Yeah, it was written by Scott Temple and
Channing Powell, and it was veryobviously written by Scott Gimple stole the words
from my Bike. I was awaitingsat this was so obviously. I didn't
I didn't know who wrote it goinginto it, and then I knew while
I was watching it that it wasGotcha and is directed by Michael Satuzinus.

And uh, we we like welike Michael Satursinus, right, oh,
yeah, we love him. Yeah. I interviewed him for on did Walking
Really really cool? Guy? Ilove awesome, awesome. Maybe maybe maybe
they can get him to do somedirecting on on Book of Carol. Well

maybe, he did say when whenI interviewed him, I did ask him
if there was anything he hadn't donewith the in the work Walking Day universe
that he wanted to do, andhe did say a love story. So
he's done that now with Rick andmaschan So yeah, you never know,
you might go across. Yeah,yeah, it's you know, a lot

of people mentioned there were a lotof complaints about how, like, you
know, CRM, people were equatingthem to the Reapers because it's like Yeah,
they were supposed to be such athreat and then they were so easily
taken down. But you know,some of the rashers on Twitter, I

saw a lot of rashowers on Twittermaking comments that that made a good point
that this wasn't really supposed to beabout the CRM. It was supposed to
be more of a love story.Yeah, so that makes sense, but
I still wish like the CRM isjust such. They shouldn't have made it
such a massive exactly. Yeah,the problem is is exactly what I said

on the live stream last night.It was two separate visions of what this
show should be. Did I hadthis vision of this epic love story and
she said she sold it to Gimpolandand under Link and know of what that
was what was going to be.Gimple clearly had this idea of the CRM
and the big thing, and youknow it was originally going to be three

movies, which you could imagine beingthis three movie like action arc, big
military action stuff. And those twoversions didn't mesh together very well. So
and so Deny's version worked perfectly andwas executed brilliantly, but Scott Gimble's was

not. It felt like it feltlike he thought he was going on to
something else, and then in seasonsix, episode six, they told him,
no, that's not going to happen, so they just to quickly wrap
it up. Yeah, yeah,and now and now Major General bial Is
is on an island. Yeah,smoke monster someplace coming after him. Yes,

because he's now on an island andwith a bunch of other people and
yeah, and a smoked posture.Though I don't know, like, should
he be in purgatory though he's donesome pretty bad things. He should probably
tell tell yeah exactly, He's like, yeah, I killed the whole thing

Pennsylvania. That's fine. No,I can't sound funny. I can't even
compare the two characters because John Lockewas so John Locke was like the total
opposite appeal. Oh yeah, completelyyeah. John Locke was like the little
engine that could you know. Yeah, but uh yeah, let's why don't

starting off today, and we startoff with a Rick voiceover where he says
he he remembers everything now, heremembers who, the who, the where,
and who they are now, andwe hear sound clips of the other
characters that have brought them to wherethey are for saying, you know what

he'd hope for jadis people are resourceand of course fantastic not still not over
his death. I'd like no andBeale and Thorn, all these characters.
While we are seeing Rick and Machoneenjoying the honeymoon in the way a couple,

(11:31):
and where is Rick getting all this? Johnny Walker black Yeah, sponsored
by Johnny Walker Black. Yeah.Nice close ups of a bottle there,
and we and then Rick also wesee them when the bed that Rick puts

the wedding ring on ma Shone's finger, that Jade is left or Gabriel left
and somebody random left in the woods. So you know it was fate,
that was what it was. Itwas fate, but you know it was
just found there and they mis gianther tiny her slender fingers perfectly. Yeah.

(12:22):
It was huge, wasn't it.I thought it was going to be
like a proper you know, likeMaggie's, but no, it was.
It was massive. Yes, Sowe have Michean saying, you know,
it's it's simple. We go in, we get the briefing, and then
we go home together. But ofcourse you know it's never that simple.

(12:43):
We see Rick going back to theCRM, hands up obviously, and he's
telling them what happened, and hehe meets Thorn, who's obviously delighted to
see that he's still alive, andhe says Dana saved his life by throwing
him out of the helicopter, whichis true always, like you know,

(13:07):
hid to lie in the middle oftruth is the best thing to do.
And Thorn is saying, you know, there's a reason you've left done.
Yes, sorry about that. Ihad some sound issues really quick. Okay,
we're good. Sorry, okay,yes, so Thorn, Thorn says,

(13:28):
you know there's a reason you're alive, and I'm alive because Rick has
said we should be we're carrying onhis work. But Thorn's like, no,
we're not. Then she realized shethinks that Fur was wrong, and
Rick's like, well, show methe other way then, and so she's

(13:50):
delighted that he is going to finallyget the eschel On briefing and reach his
the same level as as she is. The Meanwhile, we see Shone disguised
as a as a CRAM officer withher mask on to high Let's just say

(14:11):
this, Deny does a whole lotof eye acting in this episode. Yeah,
really does. Yeah, there's likeso much it's all we can see
is her eyes. And she's gotno dialogue. It's amazing in that.
Yeah, she's coming to sneak intothe Cram building. She's going around the
back. She uses a walker ascover with which withdraws, pulls the guard

out, who goes looking for tocheck the perimeter, and she sneaks,
climbs a tree and is up ontop of the building. And then that
was very like what happened there?She just like and she immediately goes to
Jadis's room, which was I reallyliked seeing a think g Star last night

(15:01):
said this, it was really goodto see Jesus's room and see all her
art. And there was a drawingof Gabriel there, and Michau is wrecking
the place looking for the dossier andCarol. Oh, I didn't know it
was Carol. Carol, No,Carol was a drawing of Carol. And

I'm I'm going to see somebody postedit. Someone posted it yesterday on Twitter.
I'm going to try to find itfor you while you're talking and yeah,
and someone said it was someone saidno, that was Tammyel. That's
Tammyel. But no, it lookedexactly like Carol exactly. I wasn't sure

if there was like one big one. I thought it's that Megan or I
wasn't sure, but it looks likethere was one that looked like Enid too.
Yeah. Yeah, so it wasreally nice to see, you know,
she remembered everybody from Alexandria and thatshe that on part of her that

(16:10):
we know still existed and came outat the end. But Micheon is struggling
to find where she's left the dossier. Meanwhile, Bill is out by the
fence in the woods killing walkers andRick comes. Thorn takes Rick Jim,
and Bale says, you know,before a big operation, he likes to
spend the day alone, and becausehe had never done the time that people

(16:37):
like Rick had done killing walkers atthe wall, he likes to come and
do this. So he chats tohe chats to Wreck and he's saying,
you know, now you're time,this is your time. I want you
to you know, we're going tospend some time together and maybe you can
carry some of the burden that Icarry. Another word, he's going to
get the Eshelong briefing Mi Seon inJadis's room a great callback to clear.

(17:04):
She finds the dossier is a catsculptor upends. But I was like,
I'm going to watch Mi Sean stickher hand up of cat's butt. But
no, she used, like,Toms, wait, is that that?
I think? Okay? Because Iremember when after Rick defeated Winslow. Yeah,

(17:33):
I was really hoping that that Jadaswould make herself another Winslow in this
After after Rick defeated Winslow, hetook he took the cat that she had,
That's right, But then didn't shetake it back at one point I
don't remember she did. I thinkit might be the same cat. Yeah,

(17:55):
it could be, or she createdanother version, you know, if
she didn't take it with because theywere in the helicopter, I don't know,
But if not, it's it definitelyis it's this line of cat sculptures
that goes all the way through TheWalking Dead. Yes. So Bill and

(18:15):
Rick are in Beale's office and Billtells Rick to take off his prosthetic and
put it in the in the middleof the table, and he starts talking
monologuing to Rick, and he tellshim about, you know, everybody has
to make sacrifices to get where toget where they are, and to keep

(18:40):
other people alive, and he asksRick, what was the worst thing you've
ever done? And this is thewhen we start getting the little flash montages
through the show of showing sort ofwhat Rick and the show have gone through
to get where they are. Andthe first one we see Rick some of
Rick's good kills, and he letsbe all know about the lovely incident with

(19:06):
the Scavengers and he how, oh, oh, sorry, my computer just
went off there. I don't knowwhat happened. I didn't even notice anything.
My screen went completely black. ButI'm here, and so he,
you know, says I killed someonewith my teeth. And I never even

(19:27):
thought about it this way. Ionly ever thought of it as just it's
something very raw and visceral that hedid. But he was like, the
way they do, the way thewalker's do, And I was like,
oh, I never even thought ofthat. He was like, yeah,
become a walker and in a waywhich you know fits with this whole we

(19:47):
are the walking dead, And yeah, I thought that was very clever.
And Bille puts his magnificent sword onthe table between them as well, and
we get a flash of Rick andMacheon talking about through Throughout these scenes,
we get flashed back to the Rickand Sewan in there wherever they were having

(20:10):
their honeymoon, talking about what's goingto happen, and Rick says, he's
telling me, showing how much hemissed her, and she's like, I
know, and he says, arewe crazy? Yeah? Yeah, certifiable,
but this is what they have todo. And Rick Belle tells Rick
about his life, how he gotthere, that he had an abusive father,

(20:33):
so he'd left home and he'd endedup in a v f W halt.
Now I'm British. I don't knowwhat that is. I'm sure it's
veterans or oh yeah, it's Ican't remember it's It's funny because VFW halls
are all over the US. Butit's funny because I can't remember exactly what
it stands for veteran. I'm assumingit's like Veterans Foundation. Let me look

(21:02):
it up. It's terrible that Idon't know that, like, because oh,
Veterans of Foreign Wars that's what it's. Oh right, okay, there
we go. Yeah, well thatmakes sense. I assume it was something
like that, but I didn't knowexactly Jamie. But he says, this
is he made a new family there. The people there were came his family,

(21:23):
and you know, he got intothe military. And through this,
we're cutting to Mashone going through theCRM building in disguise, and there's a
soldier with a cart talking walking throughand a little bunny rabbit falls off at
not an actual one, but acuddly toy, and Mashone picks up and

(21:45):
is having a realization about how kidsrelate to this, so she follows that
the person and ends up in abriefing room where there is a conveniently a
briefing telling everybody what do you dowith children? And it it becomes clear
that the abduct children from these thecity and then from settlements, children that

(22:11):
they think are strong and gifted,so that they can create a better future
by keeping them and killing the restof their family, kind of like rabbit.
Yeah, a bunny rabbit suddenly becamereally really dark. Yes, it
was very sinister, wasn't Wasn't ita bunny rabbit that the little girl?
Oh no, whi it was ateddy bear, wasn't it that she she

(22:33):
picked up. Yeah, but Imean it's the same kind of thing,
you know, it harkens to badstuff, and like Rick, like Darryl
finding Sophia's doll, never find asoft toy on its own in the Walking
Dead universe. And they were collectingcomfort items for like, you know,
for when they traumatize these kids.Yeah. I really liked that they talked

(22:56):
through I thought this this was theonly bit of like the gimpal Eyes script
and I was like, oh,quit like this. How they're going into
detail about what you do with thesekids and how you talk to them to
make sure they're to keep their levelsof trauma down. And you never say
to them it will be okay,but you can see to them they will
be okay. Which I thought thatwas a good bit of interesting writing.

(23:18):
But meanwhile, Beale and Rick arestill having their little conversation and Rick bal
tells Rick that he basically sacrificed hishometown because he realized it was for the
greater good. They have to therewas these masses of walkers, so he

(23:38):
took his troops out in the deadof night, left everybody else and everybody
in the city, including is newfoundfamily to the mercy of the Walkers,
because that's what you've got to do. And then there's all this talk of
it's been going on since the firstepisode about you have to burn things to
bring things back, and be allstart talking about the sort that kills is

(24:00):
also the sword that brings life.You have to kill people in order to
help other people live. And obviouslywe've seen that over and over again in
The Walking Dead, and even youknow when Reck and Cole attacked the outpost
that start really started the war withVegan, they killed people so that they
could live. So it's a bitof a it's a moral maze because we

(24:26):
know they all have done it,and our heroes have done it and have
done it for good reason. Buthere is Bill saying it's in a really
dark way, in a really calculatedway, that it's about numbers, basically,
because he says, he reveals thathumanity only has fourteen years left before
the Walkers, you know, ournumber them. And I was like,

(24:49):
how does that work? Because itmakes no sense to me because surely as
the Walkers get older, they're goingto ty and disintegree and fall apart,
so they are less of a threatand you're not having people die in this
millions as you did back then,so surely their numbers will go down and

(25:14):
humans will start, you know,thriving again. I didn't. I didn't.
I was like your mathematics staticians,Sorry, statuticians are wrong. But
you know what what I just realizedthough, I swear to got like,
Okay, do you remember in DaryldDixon when Darryl first met Oh my god,

(25:40):
why am I drawing a blank onthe kid's name. Yeah, when
Darryl first met Laurent and he wastelling him about like about you know,
spitting out all these numbers, aboutlike how long it would take to oh,

(26:00):
yes, yeah, it's rare.Didn't he say something about fourteen years
to you? Like I feel likehe might have said something like it would
take fourteen years to get up tosut to like to bring the population back
to this number. I don't know, and it done. It's so funny

(26:22):
because you you froze up right now, and you froze up, you froze
up, pursing your lips. Funny, you're just about to say something.
You're back now. But yeah,I feel like he said something about fourteen
years. I don't know, Idon't know. I think you're right.
He was talking. Wasn't he talkingabout the middle like get back to like

(26:47):
it would take wasn't it generations?Fourteen generations to get back to? Maybe
that was something like that. Yeah, remember, but yeah, that's show.
Ermugs, I gotta watch season oneand that again. All right,

(27:10):
of last last Monday. It's soannoying. It's just I have no idea
what's going on. I had noproblem at night when you're streaming in the
middle of the night. We wereabsolutely fine. Yes. So the bill
is talking about, you know,the things they have to do as as
a crem and they're doing it totry and beat the numbers. They're trying

(27:32):
to make sure that their people,that their city survives. And Michean leaves
the the briefing and she walks outthe building and it's like, no,
she's just she's she's so horrified.She's like going to walk away, but

(27:53):
she stops herself and she does goback. And Rick had said, if
you need me, if something inthe plan changes, press the walkie talkie,
So she does that and Rick turnsit off and he says, to
be a lot was just thorn.She you know, she's gone through this
briefing and we thought be valuable tomeet up and talk. And Bill says

(28:17):
to him, have you who isthe person you are closest to that you've
lost, and then we get thereally sad caral montage, which was like
really moving, but Rick says,my son, and Bill says, you
know people you love. If youdo this, you can bring in whoever
you want. You can bring inyour people, your family. That's how

(28:41):
much I trust you. And that'sthe risk I'm going to take. And
then Beale says to Rick, swearon the sword. And Rick flashes back
to oh for saying swear on thesword, but don't don't become part of
it. And Beale sees that Rickhis hands are taking and immediately know something

(29:06):
is wrong and he's screams no andis about shoot Rick. Rick throws a
knife at him and so yeah,Rick, ricitects Bale and and they're fighting
and oh, you're back, butso he stabs him through the hand,

(29:30):
and this is when I really knewit was that Gimbal had written this episode.
Yeah, can he just a bunchof gobbledy cook to him, that
makes no sense, and like,I didn't lose my son, I lost

(29:55):
myself. It was just it wasall ridicul And then he finishes it off
by saying, we're not dead,you are and stabs him in the heart
and uh. He then you know, covered in and Feel's blood radios Thorn
and tells her that Biel went tothe woods to be alone and that he'll

(30:19):
meet up with her later because Bealealready gave him something to do. And
so he stuffs Feel's body in oneof those weeled containers and those weeled plastic
containers and gets in the elevator.Another soldier enters and there's there's blood starting

(30:41):
to leak from the bottom of thecontainer, and just as they get to
the soldier's floor, the soldier happensto look down and see the blood,
and Rick immediately attacks him. It'sa brutal fight. Rick should have been
knocked out. I mean, yeah, it should have, considering how many
times he got his head smashed intothe floor. But you know, he

(31:03):
basically bashes the guy's head in anduh, and it's just it's a bloody
fight. And then the all there, the olevair opens and it's it's shown
and and it's just like it's sofunny, how casual it is. She's

(31:23):
like, she's like, we can't. She's like, we need this stuff.
Like she tells him what she sawabout Portland and how they're planning to
kill most of the kids even anduh, she's like, we we have
to stop them because we can.She looks at the pantater She's like,
is this yours? Just like what'sin it? That's just a funny exchange.

(31:52):
So then they're so then they're backin I think they're they're in They're
in Rick's apartment, right, yeah, and she's building a uh she's building
a bomb with knowledge that she pickedup from Nat and uh. Rick is
like, this is why I startedgetting really confused because Rick is like Rick

(32:15):
is telling her, he's just he'supset about the time he missed with his
kids and he just wants to goback. And I'm like, what what
what? Okay? You just youwant us out to see her. You
just heard about the horrible things they'replanning on doing, and and suddenly and
like your kids are probably gonna die, you go back right now, Like

(32:39):
suddenly you want to go back.What It's just I was very confused.
Yeah, I signed this firm,sure, And she was like nope,
yeah, we're doing this. Yes, yeah, so you know micheone Micheon
gets him back on track. Butoh hey, this was something else that

(33:00):
confused me. M We then seeThorn after they leave his room and everything.
We see Thorn go go into hisapartment and she sees his prosthetic hand
linger by the window. Why wouldhe lead that? Yeah? This really
really confused me, because like,you're about to go and do something really

(33:22):
technical and difficult, why would youleave your your hand I don't I realize
it's meant to be a symbol ofyou know, that was a symbol of
the CRM and what they did tohim and his oppression and stuff. But
I'm like, he would list bepractical. Yeah, we just saw him

(33:43):
batter a guy's helmet with it.I mean it's it's useful, Yeah,
exactly. It's like it's like whenDaryl and Beth burnt down their shock and
still I was like, why aren'tyou burning down perfectly good house even if
you don't want it, somebody elsecan use it. Yeah, it's irresponsible.

(34:04):
I don't understand why why he leftthat behind. It was so weird
it was. But you know theother thing I don't know, Well yeah,
yeah, it just doesn't make sense. But h we see them setting
up the bomb in a tent behindwhere all the military is gathering, and

(34:31):
uh, because if you're gathering allof your big you know, all your
most important people together, you wantedto be in front of a tape full
of canisels of cluding gas. Itjust makes sense. Yeah, and you
know what, I have to backtracka second because I missed one part.
So you know, in in typicaltip that you know, this happens in

(34:53):
every TV show where a character isjust a little too smart for realism.
You know, Thorn goes into thewoods because Rick told Thorn that Beale went
into the woods to be alone.And so she goes into the woods and
goes to the fence where Bil likehe must go there a lot to walkers

(35:16):
to blost team, and she goesover there and he's not there, and
she she's like, what are youup to? Grimes? And you know,
so she's she's like, it's it'sthat typical TV unrealistic unrealistic intelligence.
Yeah, but so yeah, they'rethey're in the tent and they're they're setting

(35:43):
up the bomb. Thorn is,you know, still in Rick's room,
and she looks out and sees thisgathering and just decides that something's up.
Yeah, and and you see herlike, you know, you see her

(36:05):
her like all the stuff that she'sthinking about. She somehow like just then
figures out that was shown is Rick'swife. Yes, yeah, I would
love to know this character's thought processbecause I mean, she's she's definitely a
little unrealistically intelligent. Yeah, butuh so they're setting up Rick. This

(36:36):
was this was cute. Rick waslike I forgot I got you something.
And the hands are feel stored anduh they hook up bal and the other
dead soldier to the explosives. Sothe bomb is there. Basically it's going
to be triggered when they walk outof the tent. And you know,

(37:01):
Bill is doing as as uh asas you guys pointed out last night,
doing his thriller walk. That waspretty funny. But uh so they escaped
the tent and they run immediate theyimmediately run into Thorn. She holds them

(37:25):

hope that doesn't happen. But shetells him to go back inside and do

soldier come out. How well didthey rip open this water tank? Was
the sword sord ripped open the watertank? I mean, what was this

water tank made out of? Wasit inflatable? I mean it was that

just slashed it was like micheone justlike took the sword and just slashed it

like it was like like it wasmade of cardboard, and opened the water
tank and grabbed the grabbed its harpthat was there and pulled it over them
so that you know, they wouldbe soaking wet in the water, and

It was really really unrealistic. Nonethat nobody should have survived, Rick,

another dude with a gas mask.And I think it was a live soldier,

because, like, you know,the joke in the main show is always
like they would put Rick in situationswhere he thought he was going to die,

the first time where I thought,oh my god, he might die,
like we didn't know. I reallyI really thought he was going to die.
And Micheone sneaks up on Thorn,gets the jump on her, and

they had this really weird exchange.Thorn says in a dead world, love

essentially kills her. Then we getto the most ridiculous part of the episode

There are walkers clinging to him thatare blown to bits. He's fine,

pulls the grenade to sacrifice himself andthey're all like feet from him, but
