Good morning, Welcome to the show.

Speaker 6 (02:23):
Good morning, Thanks so much for having me.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
Dave, thank you for being here. I know you just
had a little getaway with the family prior to school starting,
not trying to get all up in your personal business.
But how did that go? Hope, everything went well.

Speaker 6 (02:36):
It was good.

Speaker 7 (02:37):
We were able to go over. We went to say
it Ville and had a good time with extended family.
I had tod It slightly short to go for my work.
Yesterday was National Whistleblower Day, so I had to I
had to leave my family go to DC and head back.
That the vacation before that was great.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
All right, and explain exactly, and we're going to talk
about House to Delegate stuff, but explain what National Whistleblower
Day is.

Speaker 7 (03:00):
So National Whistleblower Day is a commemoration that about fifteen
years ago Congress started doing. Actually when I worked for
Senator Grassley helpedim introduced the first resolution recognizing that day.

Speaker 6 (03:13):
But it's a commemoration.

Speaker 7 (03:15):
It's based on a date from seventeen seventy eight when
whistleblowers during the Revolutionary War first came to Congress about
an issue within government and they were recognized and commended
by the psych Continental Congress. And so now we use
that as a day to just honor the accomplishments of
whistleblowers coming forward and to promote their protection.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
Yesterday Governor Morrissey announced that August Friday, August first, Monday
August fourth, families can take advantage of savings to come
from this tax, the back to School Sales tax holiday,
a couple of days. Whatever your thoughts on that.

Speaker 6 (03:54):
I think it's great. This is a wonderful opportunity, like
you say, starting.

Speaker 7 (03:57):
Tomorrow goos all the way through Monday, opportunity for families
to get stuff that they might be purchasing anyway as
kids are going back to school.

Speaker 6 (04:05):
We have five kids, and.

Speaker 7 (04:06):
So you know, just the things on the list, clothes
that are under one hundred and twenty five dollars, or
computer school instruction materials, school supplies again, all the sorts
of things we would be buying anyway, So this weekend's
the time to do it if you want to save
some additional money.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
I thought it was interesting. Of course, you know you've
been on the show several times. You do have five kids.
That would you start when you refer to your extended family?
I would say, well, isn't that's your everyday family? Five kids.
I mean, that's pretty much an extended family in its
own right.

Speaker 6 (04:33):
Right, Well, you're not wrong.

Speaker 7 (04:35):
But since my wife is one of five kids and
I'm one of seven kids, Okay, when he gets together,
then the Lord crew, that's for sure.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
Lord, I can imagine what that Thanksgiving looks like or
Christmas morning or whatever.

Speaker 6 (04:45):
Well, that's what we all.

Speaker 7 (04:47):
We all went into Eighth Adventures the other day with
the whole entire five family group altogether, the whole, whole,
entire extent.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
Would you do just rent the whole park? Is that
what you did?

Speaker 6 (04:58):
You just play so much water you couldn't the zipline anymore.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
I was gonna say, well, if you if you all
jumped in the water at the same time, it's just
all gonna, you know, go out the other side. We're
talking to Tristan lev a delicate Republican delegate from fifty
third And on a serious note here, I did want
to you want to talk a little bit about school
safety as we get ready to head back to school.

Speaker 6 (05:15):
Yeah, it's just an important time.

Speaker 7 (05:17):
You know, we have a lot of conversations in our
house and as people are thinking as going back to school.
Some some people already have school safety on their minds,
some don't, some don't really give it a thought. But
you know, God forbid anything ever happened in West Virginia
at one of our schools, any sort of you know,
violent incident or crisis like that. But I just think
it's an important it's a it's a helpful time to

(05:37):
be able to talk about these important issues. And so
the state Department of Education has a page that's on
the school safety policy and laws, a lot of different
information in there. There are a number of nonprofits like
Safe and Sounds Schools dot org that provide resources for parents,
again just to be able to talk to their kids
as they go back and help help identify safe pract

(06:00):
This is that can range from just you know, as
kids are walking to school, safe conduct on the street
on the roads, of course, their behavior with other students
and that ties in with the bill that got passed
during this last legislative session set up TILL one ninety
nine to try and address behavioral issues so that if

(06:21):
there are kids that are being dangerous or violent or
threatening around other kids, the teachers can remove them from
the classroom. And so I think that's helpful for parents
to be aware of what's in there. But again, it's
something you don't ever want to think about for some
and again for others, I know it's sometime they just
think about all the time, and so kind of finding

(06:41):
that balance of you know, getting reading the resources and
being prepared is helpful. This last about two weeks ago,
I went to the American Legislative Exchange Council. They're a
group that provides support to state legislators around the country,
and they had a conference in Indianapolis, and while I
was there, I met Laurie Alhadaf and she is the

(07:04):
mother of one of the victims from the Parkland shooting.
And so Alyssa's Law is one of the things that
after that, a number of states have passed to try
and sure the teachers have silent panic arms. Again, God forbid,
in an emergency situation, they can be able to you know,

(07:26):
notify law enforcement immediately, and that was something we tried to.

Speaker 6 (07:29):
Get through in this last legislature.

Speaker 7 (07:30):
It was originally sponsored by Delegate Jonathan Pinson, and it
didn't make it all the way. We did get a
great school mapping bill passed, and so a year from now,
the requirements of that going to effect, you know, requiring
that each county school district have the you know, the
school totally mapped out the way they need for safety
and law enforcement in case there is a crisis. But

(07:52):
I think Alyssa's law could be at a great additional resource.
So that's something I'm going to be focusing on in
the next legislative session. But you know, again, you know,
these things never happen, but it's really important to talk
to your kids about just being safe in general and
helping make sure they're aware.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
Yeah, you're exactly right. We're talking to Delegate to Tristan
Levitt The Dave Allen Show and five eighty Line, broad
to you in part by Pinnacle Consultants. They're lead paint
inspection risk assessment services are designed to identify it to
assess the presence of lead based paint and buildings and
other structures using a three phase approach inspection, sampling, the
lab analysis and assessment report. Check out Pinnacle Corp dot net.
Because what you don't know can hurt you. Delegate, we

(08:27):
all saw the horrific story on the news earlier this
week about the shooting in New York, the guy who
apparently had some issues with CTE and had an issue
with the NFL and he went in there. One of
the things I took away from that tragic situation, though,
and it's it's on one hand, it's a good thing,
but on the other hand, it's a kind of a
sad commentary, is that many of the people that were

(08:51):
affected by this shooting, the ones that were able to
get out safely, were younger people. My younger, I mean
maybe like you know, let's say thirty and thirty and younger.
And several of them commented, they said, no, it was
a tragic situation. We didn't panic because we were trained
for this in public school. And I heard that on
the radio drive it into work on ABC News on

(09:12):
our morning news, and I thought, that's that's a good thing.
But it's also a sad commentary as well. Would you
not agree it is.

Speaker 6 (09:21):
A sad commentary. And you know that's just a reality
though of the world we live in today. And you know,
I remember Columbine when.

Speaker 7 (09:28):
I was I think I was in high school is
when it happened. And you know, are just our society
has changed a lot since then, and so many many
things are outside of our control. But you know what
is it in our control is to try and prepare
and teach our children, do them as much as we can.
But I agree, it's a horrible situation that, you know,

(09:50):
people know that could happen at a time and you
just pray to God that.

Speaker 6 (09:54):
It does not.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
I want to ask you a quick question before we
let you go, and I appreciate you taking time out
of your schedule to be here. I know you've been
really busy with the family and doing some other things
the last couple of days as we get ready to
begin to school year. But this was totally unrelated to school.
I want to ask you, I'll good put you on
the spot here. You ready, sure I knew you would be.
You're running for reelection.

Speaker 7 (10:14):
Yeah, absolutely, I'm excited about this next session. There's a
lot of good to do, and you know, I definitely
I had a great experience during this first session, and
there's just there are a lot of good things happening
in West Virginia. There are a lot of things that
we need to focus on, and our educational achievement is
one of those. As you're you know, honestly just bringing

(10:36):
economic development and investment and other things. But you know,
I'm wanting to continue to keep my sleeves rolled up
and do whatever I can, So I definitely running for reelection.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
Well, the reason I have to ask is because it's
that time, you know, when you when you know next year,
people are starting to look ahead, and I just wanted
to I've asked all I've had. I think you're the
third delegate I've had on this week, and I have
another one coming up tomorrow, and I'm asking all of them.
Are you running for re election? So far in three
for three, everybody's running for re election, So there's that,
so we wish you the best.

Speaker 6 (11:03):
You must have a positive effect on them, then.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
Yeah, exactly, exactly, that's what it is. You want to
believe it at all? Right, DELI get to Tristan Levitt,
Republican from the fifty third. I do appreciate you taking
time at your schedule. Thanks a lot man, We'll talk soon.
Good Thank you, all right, Tristan Lovitt Again, I gotta
ask them, you know, because sometimes it doesn't happen very
often that somebody runs for the legislature and wins and

(11:26):
is a one and done. Sometimes it does. But but
I mean by their own accord, I mean, and yeah,
I just got to ask. But Ave Villan showing five

of the Mountain Wild, Wonderful Classic Rock, and our man
Shockley's going to be throwing out the first pitch. Tried
to get him on the show this morning, reached out
to him, but he had a doctor's appointment. I guess
he's undergoing some kind of you know, he's got to
make sure of that because he's an old guy. You know,
he's my age. That's why I said that he's got
to make sure that he's fit enough to throw out

(12:29):
the first pitch. So we know Shockley, but we will
talk to Joe Garrett when we come back. It's nine

tonight and we're adding a guest. I think towards the
end of the show. If we can make it work out,
Veronica from the Coddle Seeman Convention Center is going to
join us. Of course, Best Virginia is playing tonight, and
if they win tonight, then they're gonna be playing for
a million bucks on Sunday. Now, it still could happen

(15:05):
that that million dollar game could be played in Charleston,
But it all depends on what happens with another game.
So we'll let Veronica explain that. I think we're going
to try to add her toward the end of the show. Also,
Joe Stevens is going to give us a yell to
talk about the Taste of Nitro, which is going on
on Saturday. Joe Garron from The Dirty Birds is here.
Welcome to the show. Thank you, thank you for being here.
All right, before we get to Saturday night, I want

(15:26):
to talk about the other promotions and whatnot that you've
got going on over the next couple of days.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
Right, so today's Thursday, Right, Thursday.

Speaker 4 (15:34):
I had to think for a second, Yeah, it is Thursday.
Keep in mind you're talking to the guy Jill. Just
so you know, you're talking to the guy who yesterday
on Metro News Minday called himself the wrong name. Oh wow,
I referred to myself as Dave Wilson. Wow, the host
of Talk. And let me quickly tell you the story.
So you think I'm not totally cracky. We were Amanda
and I were interviewing Ryan Wilson, who's the sports guy

(15:56):
with with with her TV station. Uh and and I
had notes in front of me of who we were
talking to, because I have a tendency to forget, I said.
I jumped in and I said, hey, Ryan, and then
I said, this is Dave. And then for some reason
I picked up Wilson because that's Ryan's last name, Ryan Wilson.
So I said to hey, this is Dave Wilson. And

(16:18):
Dave Wilson co host a talk line in Morgantown. Just
happened to be listening, and thought that was hilarious. Sent
me at tex and said, I always knew why was
your hero? So keep in mind you're not the only
one that gets confused. Perfectly, I called myself the wrong
name yesterday, so there's that.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
I just want to give you guys the wrong promotion.
We're in the middle of a nine game homestance. That's
why my brain's a little foggy right now. But with
it being Thursday, it is Thirsty Thursday tonight. A part
of that, you get one dollar sixteen ounce domestic beer
or one dollar Waters, which everyone you prefer for Thirsty
Thursday until seven thirty and then it bumps up to
four dollars. Still a good deal. Friday is one of

(16:55):
our big promotions. Every Friday is a giveaway, and this
Friday is a shirt giveaway thanks to you Mark Health
and also the Mountain. And then the big one we're
talking about is Eighties Night this upcoming Saturday. Really excited
for that with postgame fireworks.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
All right, so what all is going to go on
at Eighties Night? The greatest decade?

Speaker 3 (17:11):
By the way, I'll take your word for that one,
Dave ye.

Speaker 4 (17:15):
Oh, cut deep, deep cuts, because I'm sure you weren't
around the.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
Night I was born in ninety six, so yep, sorry,
that hurts all right, but Eighties Night, of course you
can look for eighties music. Our on field MC has
the brightest outfit I think I've ever seen on a
grown man, So I'm very excited for that one. A
lot of it is postgame fireworks with the music. Shockley's

(17:40):
gonna be there for the first pitch. He's gonna be
there to interact with fans. But we're gonna have some
really fun in game stuff, an air guitar competition, a
headbanging competition, and my favorite that I'm excited for, we're
gonna have gen z Or's go on to the dugout
and we're gonna put an image up on the video
board or play a sound and see if they can
name that. Ees thing I want like a dial up tone.
I want to see a cassette tape up there. I'm

(18:03):
excited for it.

Speaker 4 (18:04):
So how are you going to pick the just random
people out of the crowd?

Speaker 3 (18:07):
Yeah, random people usually people can If you want to participate,
you can go to our guest services are fan assistants
booth on the first base side and sign up to participate.
But usually our promo team is kind of eyeing for
the for the victims out there.

Speaker 4 (18:18):
The victims is a good way to put it. And
the the interesting thing about you know things like that.
And I talked about this a couple of weeks ago.
We've all seen these videos on YouTube and whatnot or
TikTok or whatever about. You know, you get somebody that's
younger and try to have them use it. We did.
We did this experiment a couple of weeks ago with
one of the younger folks in the building and having
them use a rotary tellels. But it's all relative because

(18:41):
many of us old heads. You put us in an
environment where we're going to try to use something that's
relatively new. We're going to struggle with a little bit too,
So tell the gen z or is not to feel
too badly.

Speaker 12 (18:52):
I don't.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
That's exciting though.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
It's just fun to poke fun at people, you know,
It's it's just so exciting.

Speaker 4 (18:57):
We need in the world is more people making fun.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
Of it, exactly, So baseball's here for what we are here.

Speaker 4 (19:02):
What we need more of is people making people laugh
and having fun and not taking everything so dang seriously,
that's what we need. Editorial comment there.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
For me, but love that. But yeah, we're excited to
have that at the ballpark again. Posting fireworks is always
a lot of fun. We're nearing down to the end
of season. We only have about a month and a
half left of home games unless we make the playoffs,
So make sure you're coming out to the ballpark too
to enjoy some summer baseball before we get ready for
late the night.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
All right, I got a text here for you. This says,
for those of us at the Dirty Birds game, will
you please give scoring updates to the TBT game tonight.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (19:37):
I can do that absolutely, because the person that would
do that would be you.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
It would be me for on air, and then for
the PA announcer. I'll just text them the updates and they, knowing,
knowing our staff, they're going to be checking things off.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (19:48):
Yeah, Well it's an exciting time. And you know, with
the with with TBT, I mean, it's it's just been
such a shot in the arm of the summer here
and I mean this team, you know, and I know
you guys get your own thing going on, but you
are hearing for Best Virginia as well, because this is
this is pretty awesome.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
Of course, we had half of our staff, including some
of our players and coaching staff, were at the game
on Monday, on our one off night, so definitely we
want to go support them.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
And how cool is that? I mean, because not only
not only were you guys there, but we also had
members of the West Virginia team in the basketball Gas
was there as well.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
It just makes it so much more fun. Not being
from West Virginia, not being from Charleston, and I didn't
really understand what this community was like. And I think
that's a perfect example.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
Yeah, I just got a note here from our Metro
News Midday producer Stephanie that we just found out that
the Emverlin team will be in blue tonight, So we
want to encourage best Virginia fans to wear gold into
a gold rush at the Conliseum tonight. And yeah, and
so I think Veronica was going to try to get
with us on that, but if not, we'll give you
the information now. And so we'll talk about that a

(20:52):
little bit later on. All right, what else is going
on throughout the weekend there? What are we doing on Sunday?

Speaker 3 (20:56):
Sunday is our Princess Night. We're going to have Anna
and Elsa Wana and Mary Bell, they will all be
here to take photos with fans. We also have a
VIP meet and greet that's specific for them. If you
do that, go through our social media, buy your ticket there.
You get entry early at one thirty. You get a
buffet as a part of that ticket and exclusive meet

(21:18):
and greet with the princesses. And if you don't want
to do that, you just want to come in because
Sunday's kids are free. We will have the princesses walking
around starting at two thirty.

Speaker 4 (21:26):
It's pretty good. So how's everything going to overall at
the ballpark this season? I mean, not just on the field.
But how just what's the mood over at Go Mark Ballpark?
How are things going with the Dirty Birds?

Speaker 9 (21:35):
It's good.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
It's a loaded question when you're asking me in the
middle of a tenday home stands. So I'm a little
tired right now. It's a lot of fun.

Speaker 13 (21:41):
You know.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
How can you be mad when you're working in baseball?
You know, it's so much fun working here. The staff
is ready. Where May was tough because we had about
twenty one home games with the Birds and now we're
just seeing the end of season coming. We want to
make sure that all of these last minute promotions, but
the last promotions are some of our best ones yet.

It wasn't at the game that you guys set a

(22:20):
record the other night. We'll talk about this with the
with there's a home run the home run record.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
Yes, this was in Long Island. I want to say.
The date was July twentieth, and we had ten home
runs in one game, and that ties the professional record,
not just the Atlantic League or not just minor league
baseball and all of professional baseball. Ten home runs in
one game tied it.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
Ten homers in game.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
I think the last team to do it was the
Toronto Blue Jo That's what I was thinking. It was
tied with the Blue j I think it was nineteen
eighty seven, so.

Speaker 4 (22:49):
That ties the professional record. Last night, again you said
not just I mean with those many home runs, you
probably hit one, right.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
Right exactly, mean I just thought it, and that's exactly
what happened.

Speaker 4 (22:57):
I mean ten home runs. That's an incredible feat. Because
i'd actually seen something on ESPN about that and I
meant to make a mental note of it, and well
I forgot. But that's that's incredible, and for you know,
the Charleston Dirty Birds will be getting love on ESPN
for doing that's that's pretty good stuff.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
It is special. I think it was six different guys
at home runs, so some guys hit multiple home runs
that day too, so it was it was a good game,
and these guys can hit. So it's a fun, fun
time right now to be a dirty Beard.

Speaker 4 (23:22):
And how many runs did you put up?

Speaker 8 (23:24):
Total?

Speaker 4 (23:25):
I mean, I know you've got home runs, but how many?

Speaker 3 (23:26):
How many seventeen seventeen?

Speaker 6 (23:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (23:28):
And how many did the opposition get?

Speaker 6 (23:30):
Long?

Speaker 3 (23:30):
Sixteen? So it was needed.

Speaker 4 (23:33):
Well, I was going to say, they said you could
hit that night, and maybe the pitching not so much,
but just on that one night because you've had a
good pitching exactly. All right, Seventeen to sixty was the
final score. We're talked with Jill Garrett of the Dirty Birds.
All right, so give us all the details again, kind
of review. What's going on between now and Sunday at
the ballpark?

Speaker 2 (23:49):
Yep?

Speaker 3 (23:49):
So Tonight Thursday Thursday one dollar sixteen ounce domestic beer
and one dollar water until seven thirty, then it bumps
up to four dollars. On a Friday is a T
shirt giveaway presented by Martial Health and The Mountain. On
Saturday is posting fireworks with Eighties Night, and Sunday is
Princess Night where you can meet Anna, Elsa, Marrabell and Mulwana.
All information go to dirtybirdsbaseball dot Com.

Speaker 4 (24:11):
And do a great job on your social media pages
as well. You're on all those as well. Joe Garren
or the Dirty Birds appreciate it. Unfortunately, I'm not going
to be there Saturday night. I'm actually going to be
out of state this weekend. But if you could keep
an eye on Shockley, because I mean, he's an older guy.

Speaker 3 (24:25):
I heard he had a doctor's appointment. Hopefully, hopefully he'll
get he'll get clear to be able to come and
throw the first thing.

Speaker 4 (24:29):
He'll be there with all that hair, you know, so
it'll go along with the head banging and the air
guitar contest and everything else you're doing over there for
eighties Night again, sponsored in part by our sister station
ninety eight seven of Mouth and Joe Garon. Always a
pleasure to have you on the show.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
We'll talk again, Sue, absolutely, thank you.

Speaker 4 (24:45):
All right, thanks lot. You can go ahead and take
off because I gotta do a couple of other things here.
I appreciate you stopping by the studio. Thanks a lot,
Joe Garan and the Dirty Birds Again, I did want
to throw this out here about the TVT tonight. We
have received information again that their opposition tonight, they're going
to be in blue. And so the folks at the
Colosseuma Convention Center and with Best Virginia are urging if

(25:06):
you're coming to the game tonight over at the Colosseuma
Convention Center, please wear gold because they are doing a
gold rush for the game tonight. The tickets will be
available at the box office opening at ten this morning.
Tip office set for six o'clock. And somebody had asked
if the game was going to be televised. It is
going to be televised, But why would you want to
watch it on television when you can listen to it

(25:27):
on Metro News. That's what I'm saying. But yeah, I
do believe it is going to be televised. Text says
Dave went to the TBT Tuesday, had a great time. However,
the lower level seats are god awful. Mayor Goodwin promised
on your show a while back they would be fixed.
She needs to keep her word. Thanks, All right, all right,
Mayor's office, you're on the clock, okay, So if I

(25:49):
know they listened to the show every day, So if
folks at Mayor good One's office they need those seats fixed.

Speaker 6 (25:54):
All right.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
Follow up from some text we had from the show yesterday.
We talked to the new Dunbar Police chief John Garton
on the show yesterday. Text says Dunbar citizens are scared.
Crime is rampant. The chief is not fooling us as
it's extra well. He's been on the job since January.
Needs more officers, as he talked about yesterday, so hopefully

(26:20):
they'll they'll get it taken care of. Text says this
is from yesterday. Way to carry water for the wealthy elites,
Dave here to break down the details of millionaires, what
they do, how they earn their money, what their wages
and compensations are, not just vague generalities about how you

(26:41):
could be a millionaire too, and quit whining about high prices.
I have a long memory and we're called vividly you
Dave crying about inflation. Okay, I don't know that I
did that, but okay I will. I will if I did,
I will own that vague generalities. Average millionaire in America
work sixty seventy hours a week. It's available. You got

(27:02):
to get off here, rear in and go make it happen.
That simple Tex says, the dirty birds have done a
great job of keeping my family away. When they cease
taking good old American money, I stopped going and won't
go back until they accept money again, make the dirty
birds normally again, start accepting currency again. Well that's probably
not gonna happen, textter. I appreciate the text, but I'm

(27:25):
gonna say it's probably not gonna happen, because that's just
we're moving that way. Marshall University announcing last week that
they would no longer be accepting cash at the ballgame.
So if you're gonna get a beer, you gotta get
a soda or whatever, a hot dog or whatever at
the jon. Then if you go down for a Marshall game,
you can't use cash. They made an announcement last week.

(27:47):
Dex said, I'm so glad to live in a country
where mass shootings are so pervasive that it's nonchalant when
one happens. Our kids are trained on how not to
be a target, and Republicans, who wear God in their
sleeves like hypocrites, as Jesus said, offer only prayer and
admit it's just a fact of life that our kids
are targets. Republicans have no honor or integrity as a text. Uh,

(28:10):
Dave says the texture. Will the Mike Stewart Center confirmation
be televised? I don't know, Uh, maybe somewhere from what
I understand about the Stuart confirmation, and this is we're
talking about s Senator Mike Stewart, who is up for
confirmation to a new role in the Trump administration today.
There's actually several people that are going to be It's

(28:32):
we call it into business, a cattle call when everybody
comes together. And that's what I understand is that we're
keeping a close eye on it. Brad mcilahanney and I
talked about it this morning. Don't know if it will
be televised, but it's just one of many confirmations that
are scheduled to take place today or hearings I should
say about about confirmations. Let's see can the rent for

(28:55):
the ballpark? Well, she's already gone. Say if there will
be fireworks after this game and sow times since they
choose to use ultra megablazed fireworks also extra loud, and
I live two blocks away. I need to make sure
my dogs are inside and say that's after Saturday's night's game.
Texture David's text is neither here nor they're regarding your

(29:16):
show's subjects. So far, that's fine, but Jerome Palle's a
terrible fed chair. Whoever hired that fool needs to be fired,
says a Texture. Texas man. I've never heard so much venom,
envy and hate for people that have more than others
from these textures. Grow up people, says a Texture. I
said this once before that and it old boy. It

(29:40):
elicit some texts. We'll say this and we'll go to break.

Speaker 6 (29:42):
Ryan.

Speaker 4 (29:43):
They talk about the wars in this country and the
culture wars. There's a war in success in this country
and it's been going on for some time.

Speaker 6 (29:50):
I'll leave that there.

Speaker 4 (29:51):
Twenty three minutes away from ten, we'll take a break.

Welcome Back to the show. Twenty one minutes away from ten.
Text says Mike Stewart had a death in his family.
Prayers to all of them. Yeah, I saw that. I
believe it was Senator Stewart's ants that was. I think
it was his aunt that was allegedly killed by a
drunk driver, and so if if I'm incorrect about that,
I'll apologize, But yeah, it is our Our thoughts and

(32:42):
prayers certainly go out to him and his family. Tex says,

Please police, do something. Run the speed limit at your
own risk, dangerously stupid. As a texture, textures are coming
alive here today. Man didn't even really solicit tech because
of all of the guests I have on the show today, Bey,
We're always happy to have you here, Tex says. And

(33:05):
just an fy I to those magas who don't know
which is most likely the case. Donald Trump hired Jerome Palell,
says a Texter. Another texta says the same thing. Donald
Trump hired Jerome Palell in twenty eighteen, so I agree
whoever hired him should be fired. Bye bye, Donny says
a texture. Big happenings in Nitro this Saturday, the Taste
of Nitro is going on. Joe Stevens with the City

(33:26):
of Nitro joins us now. Good morning, sir, and welcome to.

Speaker 8 (33:29):
The show Non Controversial. Where deco from.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
Well, in your official role as a spokesperson for the
City of Nitro, you're non controversial. Away, you're extremely controversial.

Speaker 8 (33:45):
To be debated. But talking about the Taste of Nitro.
I got try non controversial event going on in Nitro
on Saturday. It's gonna be a it's gonna be a
good time, David. It's a fundraising event that has been
going on for a number of years and it is

(34:05):
to raise money for the Nitro Mission Team. The Nitro
Mission Team runs the Nitro Food Pantry, which just does
a bunch of great things for the City of Nitro
and the residence. And the event on Saturday will go
from twelve until four and it'll be from It'll be
right there at Living Memorial Park and that will be happening,

(34:28):
Like I said, twelve to four, but it's right at
Second Avenue and twenty first Street. Just lots of good
food and that's right up your alley.

Speaker 4 (34:34):
I want to hear about the food, so let's break
it down what do we got food wise for the
taste of Nitro.

Speaker 8 (34:40):
Well, we've got everything has been fixed and served right
there on site. We've got hamburgers, we've got hot dogs,
we've got Italian sausages, we've got a lot of the
condiments of ice cream, and we've got of course, we've
got pepperoni rolls.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 8 (34:57):
But what people will do they will show up and
just buy tickets, and tickets will get them the food
that's being served by the various churches in Nitro. They've
all come together and they're volunteering their time and raising
money for the Nitro mission team. Again, they run the
Nitro pantry and every Tuesday there's they they they open

(35:21):
up and they help a lot of residents in the area.

Speaker 4 (35:25):
Talk about how the tickets will work. You got to
buy your tickets for this. How many tickets do you get?
What's the pricing? How does how does all that work?

Speaker 8 (35:32):
It's a bucket ticket, five for you know, you five
for you know, it's a it's a dollar ticket and
you can get your sausages for like three tickets, or
your hot dogs for like three tickets, that sort of thing.
You just take your tickets up there'll be different tables
where you can go up and buy your tickets. Something
I definitely wanted to mention is that the city of

(35:55):
Nitro with Secure Net out of South Charleton, which provides
the fiber service in Nitro, they are giving away one
hundred school backpacks filled with various things like ear buds
and just different school supplies that will be needed with
school starting in just about a week or so.

Speaker 4 (36:19):
It's good stuff and I do will do want to
mention that, speaking of the folks of Secure Net, our
Cissusation ninety eight seven, A Mountain Wild Wonderful Classic Rock
will be broadcasting live from their courtesy of the folks
to Secure Net. Steve Animal is going to be there,
So you're gonna have to put up with Animal on
Saturday too, you know that, right.

Speaker 8 (36:35):
Well, I can do that. Animals also got to put
up with me.

Speaker 4 (36:39):
There you go the rual side.

Speaker 8 (36:41):
Of things in this equation. But also we will have
a foam dome and a swip inside for the kids
to enjoy, and there'll be a kid zone there, so
come on out and scrub a dub's kind of thing.
That foam dome is so cool. You just go in
there and and they end up look seeking like a
foam snowman or snowboy or snowgirl, as it.

Speaker 4 (37:03):
May be explain in night you're where this stuff is
taking it's taking place again.

Speaker 8 (37:10):
It's at Living Memorial Park, just one block off of
First Avenue or Route twenty five, right next to City
Hall and the Fire Department. And actually the CVB is
right there and it will be right at second and
twenty first Street.

Speaker 4 (37:24):
All right, Joe, as always, it's pleasure to have you
on the show. Great event, and the weather absolutely the
Spencers and the Brian Hughes of the world have done
a fantastic job with the weather because once we get
through today, there's some storms on the prow another hot day,
but it's going to move out of here by tomorrow.
Great for Live on the Levee tomorrow night, but it's
also going to be great for your event on Saturday

(37:45):
as well. So can't complain about the weather, especially when
you compare and contrast to what we've had over the
last couple of weeks. So come on out there and
enjoy it.

Speaker 8 (37:54):
Hey, it will be a fun time and for a
good cause. Dave have to pat you on the back.
I know you're big Cincinnati Reds fan. Big trade for you, Yes,
snap the third Basement from Pittsburgh.

Speaker 4 (38:05):
I saw that that's not going to make Dave Weekly
very happy, or maybe it will make you happy. I
don't know. He's on vacation this week, so I don't
have to text him and see what he thinks about that. Hey, Joe,
I appreciate you being here. Man, Thanks a lot, Hey, safriend.
All right, again, that event is happening this Saturday in
Nitro and again our sister Station ninety eight seven of
the Mountain Wild wonderful classic rock Steve Animal will be

(38:26):
their lives. Come on out and help out a great cause,
the Nitro Mission and lots of great food, the taste
of Nitro. Can't complain about the weather because it's going
to be absolutely fantastic. Let's go back to the text.
I don't know what's up with the Texters today. Man,
everybody's got something to say, and that's fine.

Speaker 9 (38:42):
O G.

Speaker 4 (38:43):
Working sixty to seventy hours a week guarantees I'll be
a millionaire and no need to talk about the actual
wage amount. Dave, I bet you're a billionaire with all
the hours you work. Quit carrying water for the elites.
I'm go leave that one alone, Texas, Dave, I'm your
Florida listener who used to live there. You're so right
about the war and success. I'm successful because I busted
my butt to get there. I was paid very well.

(39:04):
Not many out there are flight medics who landed on
the interstate or an open field to save lives. I
did that.

Speaker 6 (39:09):
Well.

Speaker 4 (39:09):
Thank you, texture whomever you are, for your service. I
do appreciate that. Dave. Please bring someone on your program
to discuss the repair and paving projects for our secondary roads.
We as a state deserve better secondary roads. Tex says, sorry,
but I got to ask. Since winter earbuds required school supplies,

(39:32):
I don't know about them being I guess they're required.
I don't have kids or grandkids in school, so I
don't are anywhere for that matter. But I don't know.
But I do know because we'll be doing our backpack,
our beat back attack next week, and I do know
that is an in demand thing. Is the era is
the earbuds? I'm presuming because I know in Kanawha County
every student is given an iPad. I'm for their work,

(39:56):
and I'm presuming that that would be so they can study,
you know, I guess I don't know, but yeah, it's
that and water bottles. They have to have their own
water bottle in many school systems. That seems to be
the big thing gone of the days of the trapper keepers.
It looks like just really dated myself there. It's thirteen

weekend shaping up to be fantastic good news for events
like the Taste of Nitro Live on the Levee and more.
Meteorologies show Fitzwater will join us to talk about it.
There's a big mind rescue event going not at at WVU.

(41:01):
We'll get into that, plus mentioned earlier. We are monitoring
the confirmation process for Senator Mike Stewart as he stands
before the US Senate Finance Committee attempting to become a
leader within the Department of Health and Human Services. He'd
be serving as general counsel for the department within the
Trump administration if he's chosen. That hearing set to begin
at ten, and I'm told, as I mentioned earlier, there
are several other confirmations being considered around that time, so

(41:24):
the actual time for Senator Stewart is kind of TBA.
Brad and Jeff and the folks are keeping an eye
on that. Jeff Jenkins will stop bye with the latest

The time is yours, miss rad Let's have at it.

Speaker 19 (45:27):
So we just found out early this morning. Actually on
my drive in, I was got a text message that
the opposing team here tonight, Everleen, is going to be
in blue. We can't have that. We need all of
our best Virginia fans to come out in full force.
And let's do a gold rush.

Speaker 4 (45:46):
Tonight at the Coddloseum and Convention Center for the TV day.
Is it Everline or Everlean?

Speaker 19 (45:51):
Well I've been saying Everleen, but I could be rolled.

Speaker 4 (45:54):
All right, Well, we'll just call it something. The old
broadcasting trick is you just called it something different every time.
So we'll go from anyway, they're the enemy. That's all
we need to know, is that Veronica is that they're
the enemy.

Speaker 19 (46:06):
Right, That's right. They are in between Best Virginia, not
million dollars. So let's you know, this is a take
