Coming up on the show this morning, we are one
step closer to the weekend. That is always good. We're
also everybody's there's a lot of excitement around the world
of college football right now because it's just that time
(02:01):
of year, you know, and I know there's a new
era in Morgantown, a new older era in Morgantown. With
coach Rod. We are going to spend some time here
momentarily talking to Eric Arnold from the WU Alumni Association
of the Greater Kanaw Valley. They've got a big event
coming up this weekend, so we're going to talk to
them about that. Speaking of big events, multi Fast getting
underway later today in Charleston, and we'll talk to tomorrow
(02:21):
Ebanks about that. And I've just been informed that we're
going to be invaded at around nine forty this morning
by those animals from the Mountain, one of them whose
name is Steve Animal and the other is Shockley. The Mountain,
our sister stations entered into a partnership with the folks
at five Street. Brewer, you know all about Animal Ale.
Well it's going to be a little bit more than
(02:42):
that because the first and third Thursdays of the month,
we're going to be we meaning the Mountain, will be
broadcasting live from five Street. And so Animal and Shockley
informed me earlier that they are coming on my show today.
That's exactly the way they put it. They said, we're
coming down on your show today to talk about it.
So I said, okay, it's I'm the host, but okay,
you knock yourself out. So we'll talk about that plus
(03:04):
some other things in the news, and of course you
are text and phone calls are always welcome. Big Lea
Pickley Wiegly Hotline three zero four three four five fifty

the afore mentioned Eric Arnold for the WVU Alumni Association
of the Greater Kanall Valley. Good morning, Welcome to the show,
sir may.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
Thanks, it's a pleasures always. It sounds like you have
all the mysscreenson you're sharing this for.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
Well now I'm going to say we don't have all because,
with all due respect to I'm not going to put
tomorrow U Banks from multifest in there, Okay, but yeah,
with you and with Animal and Shockley, yeah we got
the miscreants for sure, but not tomorrow. Okay, let's just
make that distinction absolutely all right, So mentioned this earlier
and we'll get to your event. But I want to
talk a little Mountaineer football with you.
Speaker 5 (03:53):
Eric.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
It's a new era in Morgantown, but it's also an
old era. How you feel it about coach.
Speaker 4 (03:59):
Ron well, you know, I was friskly to work for
rivals dot com recruiting website during the time coach rod
was there, and uh, you know, from what I hear,
there is a higher amount of personal accountability, but it's
showing up in practicing on the field. And I think,
(04:21):
you know, as a lawyer, I'm very interested in the
university is doing on behalf of for very imputant players,
which a lot of places are doing that will be
immediate contributors. And Rich Rodrick is that he is absolutely
on board with that. But if you listen to him
(04:45):
on the prins Coffer, he is very critical of some
of the efforts and physicality of the team, and I
think that's a direct contrast. There's a message from last
year as sure as techno then the friend wasn't drinking
at arth Ceast on the podium like Rich was yesterday.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
You gotta love it a coach of drink and RC
right talking to Eric Arnold. Uh yeah, And he's called
out a couple of the players, actually several of them
as a team for being soft, and he's done that
on more than one occasion. And about young people, these
young kids today, that sounds like me actually saying things
like that, what you take on all that? And now
promise we'll get to your event. What's you take on that?
(05:26):
Calling calling his player soft well, I.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
Speaking to initial process. So he then reached the person.
He's always available. He's always accessible to his players on
a one on one basis, but he has a very
high standard and he has one that you know they
used to say match the mountains. Well, the mountain for
rich Rodriguez is beyond howksfest. It's effort. So he's kind
(05:53):
of running the laschool hell again. But from what I hear,
they're catching into the concepts of the hog set a
lot better. He likes having left the quarterbacks like Niko
Mahrischell and Jaden Henderson, who are the top two competitors
for the position, and that's going to allow him to
open up the offense because the reads are a little different.
(06:17):
So he's quietly excited. I think the problem more so
may be a depth issue. Wh'll figure that out quickly.
If you all please do.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
Again, We'll talk with Eric Carnoll to Dave Allen. Showing
five Any Live is brought to you in part by Meeks,

let's talk about this big event that you got going on.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
It's at the Bucket, right, Yes, Yes, the Mucket down
Intent Thunbar forty thirty Washington Street Plank. We're doing our
first you know, it's what privileged and orders. He's ahead
of the wv alumni as a greater fall, but a
lot of times he just the sports events, which the
(06:59):
new president, Michael Benson coming in and maybe having a
little more backing. We're doing our first annual with the
WVU Parents Club. Summers sent off. So if you as
a family or you as a student are going to
WFU for a first time more you're going back join
(07:21):
us from four to six at the Bucket, and then
if you come early you'll be able to have a
free ticket to Ryan Waters and Lily Gray, two concerts
that night at the Bucket. Ryan Wathers at two hundred
and twenty nine followers, thousands followers on Instagram. They're great
ass and it's a great venue it's never been. If
(07:45):
you have students, you'll be able to win Raffle prizes,
including a couple two hundred dollars gift cards to Mars
and Noville. I know you can either use this at
the bookstore, is selling from beer on High Street, not
that I've ever done it. Yeah, but we're excited to
do something a little different than a game rot and
(08:07):
maybe have this to be one of our temple events.
You know, we're involved in notting jerks fight out, some
other events around the valley you'll be hearing about, and
then during the fall we'll have game rotters here and there.
But it's excited to do something for the students their
families that isn't totally sports related. And well we'll even
(08:28):
have an event for high school seniors coming up this
fall that it's excited to have. We're backing from WVU,
from the Alumni Association and Doom.
Speaker 6 (08:40):
We're with that.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
Yeah, and Eric, I like the fact that you mentioned this.
I like the fact that because when you think of
things like this, you do think sports. And I'm a
sports fanatic, you're a sports fanatic. I get that, but
sometimes it's it's good to do things that don't necessarily
revolve around sports. And you're offering this up for this
kickoff or I mean, you know, it's gathering that you're
going to have for the parents that get students going
(09:01):
off the WV for the students themselves. So it's going
to be a really really good time.
Speaker 7 (09:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Absolutely, it's a twenty dollar ticket, but if you shove
up between four and six and have some WV relations
with a family member or a dear friend, you'll be
able to stay there for free for the concerts. And
then also the big thing is if you bring some
new ads, new suits or barry some blankets, which is
(09:30):
a WV initiative, there's some stuffed animals or blankets, you'll
get a free free cor appetizer. So you know, we're
trying to do that, raise them awareness for these other things,
but mainly have a good time. And you know Multifest
is a great event, gave asson bullying, the former players,
having a giveaway at Oakfield that morning around noon for
(09:56):
some kids. So you know, there's a lot of stuff
going around in Charleston and the more the mary.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, we got a big event going on Saturday,
and we'll talk about a little bit later on at
Trojan Landing. Uh and those folks are going to join
us in studio tomorrow plus tomorrow I want to talk
about the Kenaw Trust Humane Association. They are annual Kegs
for Canines events and going on at the Red Carpet
and that's going to be on Saturday of the Mountain.
Steve and I will be out there for that. So
we're looking looking forward to all these big things. Uh.
(10:23):
And a big shout out going back to your event, THO,
very big shout out to Chris and the folks at
the Bucket because they they love they love getting people
out there. Of course they got some of the best
food and drink specials around.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
I am particularly fond of well several things there. The
pepperoni role is probably is my favorite thing there.
Speaker 5 (10:40):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
But uh, it's a great if you, like you said,
if you've never been out there to the Bucket, it's
a great opportunity for you to come out there and
hang out with Chris and the folks there, but also
uh to show your pride in West Virginia University and
uh and to help out to people. It's all for
a good cause too.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
Yeah. And you know, just thinking about the man to
say out an in venue, it looks like we're going
to have great weather. But anyone that's shared up last
year for our pick game watch that supported the Potter
Maddox Potter and his foundation of family. That was a
tremendous event.
Speaker 8 (11:14):
Chris.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
We'll be doing our backyard brawl Evan, as we always
do each year before mountain ers fight out. That's the
right carpet. But the main thing if you want to
come or have any questions or we'd like to donate,
texts or calling me three oh four four one five

Thank you so much for having us.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
Good to be here again. It's always pleasure to have you.
Even though you're You're wearing the WVU stuff and I'm
wearing the Marshall. So you're gonna have to be the
there's a problem here tomorrow, you're gonna have to take
care of it.
Speaker 14 (15:48):
Well, I'm deciding factor I'm Marshall because I'm like, I
graduated from Marshall.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
You know, here's the thing people don't understand. You can
support both.
Speaker 12 (15:55):
That's sorry.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
Just the last segment was all about the WVU Alumni Association.
You can support both.
Speaker 14 (16:00):
Miss Actually I do support I graduate from Marshall, but
then I also work for WUS.
Speaker 15 (16:05):
So there you go.
Speaker 16 (16:06):
Well, you can't forget wes Virginia State University.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
I'm just saying West Virginia State and University of Charleston,
and oh we've got we had a lot of fine
institutions of higher learning, say West Virginia. All right, So
multi Fest is going to kick off later today, So
is that right? I want to start with this though,
we'll get the I don't say controversial, but the semi controversy.
There was some concern about this thing happening overall. Mister Friist,
(16:32):
you want to you want to wait on that.
Speaker 16 (16:33):
Well, you know, multifest has This is our thirty fifth
year and Multifests starts with a zero some budget. So
every year we have to start from the very beginning.
And this year, because some of the anti multiculturalism, anti
DEI rhetoric, we were very concerned that some of the
former sponsors were not sponsoring at the level that they
(16:57):
had before. And in addition, there was some sponsors who
did not participate this year. And so what we did
that we made a plead to the public and we
just really want to thank the community for coming through.
The community came through in terms of making up what
might have been a budget deficit.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
Yes, good tomorrow, you're dying to say something, Go ahead.
Speaker 14 (17:18):
No, I'm dis agreeing with him because you know, we,
as he said, we it looked a little bleak at first.
But you know, Pastor Price and you know mentioned that
we did a plea to the community and without their communities,
without the community support financially and in kind services, we
wouldn't have the greatest lineup that we've ever had this year.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
And you talk about the community support, and again, events
like this, as you will both well know, are not
possible without the community. And I mean the corporate sponsorship
is a big part of it. But nobody shows up,
it doesn't really matter at the end of the day.
And that's just that's kind of what Charleston and the
surrounding areas and all the Westervininia what we do. We
show up when it comes to things.
Speaker 16 (17:58):
Mitch Friesen, Well, that's what that's that's that's what this
festival really is all about because it came out of
the controversy of the lack of inclusion thirty five years ago,
and so over these thirty five years, Multifest has stood
for the for the principle that we are better together
than we are separated.
Speaker 3 (18:15):
Yeah, and let's I mean when you talk about how
it started, because you's thirty five years ago and there
were some folks that felt that maybe because of Regatta
or whatever, that they it really wasn't a lot for them.
They weren't included, and this thing started and now we
got both events and Regatta's back again. So now you
got both of these huge summertime events and everybody's kind
of mingling, you know, everybody supporting everybody. That's that's what
(18:36):
this thing's all about.
Speaker 16 (18:37):
Well, it's a win win for the Kanal Valley and
for the state of West Virginia because what we need
to do in the state is to increase our tourism.
And so with this being the capital city, the fact
that we have these things throughout the summer regatta multifests
of Vandelia, it.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
Really Summerfest is going to be next week in summer
Charleston down.
Speaker 16 (18:57):
And it really makes the Kanal Valleys as well.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
We should be all right, and you talked about the biggest,
the best, this is one of this is what this
you think? This is probably the best one we've ever
put together.
Speaker 12 (19:08):
Every year we say is the best, Well that's what
you should that's every.
Speaker 14 (19:11):
Year because we try to bring some new things to
the to the festival. And I can say starting today
at four thirty, the first ever in thirty five years,
Multifest will have a multicultural parade. And so we're going
to start that off at four thirty and you know,
then kick it off with our opening ceremony.
Speaker 12 (19:28):
This is going to be huge, not only.
Speaker 14 (19:31):
That with the parade, we're going to have Native American
dances from the West Coast. And we're so excited about
the new things that are going to be be taking
place here this weekend.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Indeed, we're talking about multifest to Dave Island showing five
eighty Live is brought to you in part by Husband's Pizza.
This month that your favorite Hustan's get a large at
Nitch Pepperoni pizza and a big eight inch chocolate chip
cookie for twenty three ninety nine dined in carry out
or order delivery by finding your closest Hustans at Hustinspizza

want to talk about the music, So you want to
(20:03):
one of you want to run down to me because
you got a quite an impressive music lineup.
Speaker 14 (20:06):
We absolutely do. On Tonight is our go Go Nights.
We have a go go band all the way from Washington,
d C. Called Junk Yard Band. That's our headliner tonight.
On Tomorrow night, our headliner is going to be Christopher
Williams and Troop R and B musical group. On Saturday,
our headliner is going to be DJ Cool as well
(20:27):
as r s VP and that stands for Ray J, Sammy,
Bobby V and Pleasure P. Sunday we have gospel artists
Erl Binam and Asan buying them coming from Washington, d C.
And the gospel quartet group Virginia Ayres. And then on
Sunday night before we close out, we're gonna have Mike Jones,
our Hip Hop Era and then Zap will close it
(20:50):
out and then that the final finale would be a
great fireworks show that we're going to have. But we
also want to give great thanks to Arts Amplified, who
the local grant source here, who allowed who, who's sponsoring
some of our local artists, and so we want to
give a big shout out to them for stepping up.
As you said, you know, the community really came through,
(21:12):
and this is one that stepped up to say that
they wanted to support us and support our local artists.
So we want to thank them as well.
Speaker 16 (21:20):
Anytime you have something new, though, you know, it's a
it's a new traffic that we have, and so we
really want to stress Thursday. We really want to stress
this afternoon in terms of that parade, and then the
Native American dancers because this is something we've really never
done before, and we would really like for the community
to come out see these young kids walking in the parade,
(21:43):
but also to see these Native American dancers that I
think will bring a we'll bring a true multiculturalism to
the to the to the event.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
I want to talk about the parade because you know,
that's around the time that people are starting to get
off work in Charleston and things of that nature. So
anything they should know as far as like what time
is the line up and what's it going to affect
traffic wise, you know any Sure the City of Charleston's
got information out about that, but you guys want to
touch on that from one.
Speaker 14 (22:06):
Yeah, just quickly, it's not going to affect the traffic
because we're already blocked off on Virginia Street between Virginia
and the Boulevard. We're going to line up on Court Street,
and so that's already part of multifest layout. So we're
gonna line up there at four o'clock and then step
off at four point thirty. We're gonna make a left
on the Canar Boulevard, go right through the entire festival,
(22:27):
and then end up down at the showing bomb stage
on the.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
River, and anytime we talk about these summertime events, everybody
automatically goes to the music and the food. Those are
always big parts of it, but there's a lot more
going on there than just music and food. Talk about
some of the other things.
Speaker 14 (22:42):
Absolutely, we are in the process even now, loading in
over fifty vendors from arts and craft to different ethnic
food industry, to information, and then we're also going to
have a very very large kid zone. Kid Zone is
going to have bump of cars, all kind of inflatables,
(23:04):
a dunking tank, games, just all sorts of things for
our kids, and that's going to be the entire weekend
starting today. We're also partnered with Attorney Frank Walker, so
today we're going to be giving out backpacks on his
behalf and we appreciate his support on that to all
the students that are getting ready to go back to school.
(23:24):
So again, you know, the whole weekend is going to
be fun for everyone, exciting for everyone, So we want
to make sure that you do come out. Starting today,
As he said, the parade is going to kick it off,
and that's something you don't want to miss.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
Why is it important, mister Fischen. I'll go to you
on this. Why is it important that young people being
involved in this?
Speaker 16 (23:41):
Well, not only because young people are our future, but
also we want to keep young people in the state.
And one of the things that we've had is a
lot of out my migration because people say that there's
not enough to do for young people. And so when
you have something like Multifest that is really for the
across the specter generational, I think it's important for it
(24:01):
for everyone to come out and then when young people
do things, for older people to come out and support them.
And so that's one of the reasons that we added this,
uh this this parade because we want young people intimately
involved with Multifest.
Speaker 14 (24:16):
If I can add is you know, one of the
things I always say is that first of all the
events and that concerts are free and open to the public,
and so you come and experience things that you may
not experience because you may not have the financial needs.
Speaker 12 (24:32):
But Multifest is free and open to the public.
Speaker 14 (24:34):
You're gonna get top national artists, regional artists free that
you can just come and enjoy yourself.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
I mean, that's a big part of it right there too.
I mean, you know, I mean, you're gonna pay if
one of these acts comes to you know, I'll say
the coliseum or the Clay Center or whatever, you're gonna
with all the respect to them, you're gonna pay big Box. Absolutely,
So this is absolutely this is absolutely free. And talk
about the importance, guys of it's called Multifest for a reason.
(25:01):
Talk about the importance of everybody attending this.
Speaker 16 (25:03):
Thing well, And that's one of the things that we
really want to stress because Multifest is not just for
one group. It really is. This idea of multiculturalism means
that everyone is involved, and so we try to pick acts.
For instance, this year, in terms of our local acts,
we have Stratus that people know, but we also have
the Esquires, and the Esquires goes back into the sit
(25:24):
in the nineteen sixties in terms of providing entertainment. So
we very strategically try to make sure that there is
something for everyone. And as you said, multiculturalism, multicultural festival,
Multifest means that we want everyone to come and be involved.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
And I think you know, again, I'm not trying to
turn this into a political thing. I'm always open for that.
I'm very well aware, sir. By the way, last time
you were on the show, I gave you an invite.
I said, you need to come on the show more often,
and you've failed to do that. And you know, we
have the afternoon show now that from noon to three
(26:03):
with Amanda Baron and myself. You always look them there
as well too.
Speaker 16 (26:05):
For the past seventeen months up until the end of May,
I've been in Connecticut doing this and has nothing to
do with me doing an interim vice presidency. At point
of p did you I didn't know if you re so.
I never get in fights with the media until I'm
actually doing the show and.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
Then afterwards afterwards. And you know how much I love
the term the media because people, you know, so they
they think when they say the media, that there's some
big building downtown it's called the media, that we all
we all get together. But as I said as we
started the segment, there they're seems there, they're like it,
you know, right or wrong whatever, there seemed to be
(26:44):
within the within the current landscape that we we have
closed our minds a little bit in my opinion, And
I'm somebody that I'm somebody that leans conservative, but I
can recognize a problem when I see one, and it says,
and it seems to me that we have kind of
shut the door on some of these things, and I
think that's unfortunate.
Speaker 16 (27:03):
Well, it's interesting because in the sixties, when we were
really stratified, it was the music of young people that
brought this country together. And so we think a multicultural
event will be something that's beyond politics, and so you
can meet people where they are, and I think that
will help us, especially as stratified as we are right now.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
I can go back and you and I could sit
and talk music forever, because you know, there was a
time in this country where if you know, white people
listen to this and black people, Well, when Motown came out,
it changed all that. It changed all that. And even
though I'm not necessarily a disco fan, disco just I
mean blew it all to pieces because she had a
(27:45):
group that like just played at regotted Casey in the
Sunshine Band, where you had black, you had white, you
had Latino, and it was all about the music. Nobody
really cared what color of your skin was.
Speaker 14 (27:54):
It was about the music, right and ifact just you know,
we talked about multi culture.
Speaker 12 (27:59):
We we are going to.
Speaker 14 (28:00):
Have a Southern soul recording artists with us on Saturday.
He is a Caucasian guy, but he sings Southern soul
and you're going to be amazed at the music that
he brings to us. So it's for everyone. When we
say multicultural, we're looking to have various cultures there and
when they're invited to come. And again, I cannot stress
(28:22):
enough it's open and free to the public.
Speaker 3 (28:25):
All right, before we close, let's run down the schedule again.
Go ahead and start with the parade.
Speaker 14 (28:29):
Today Thursday, August seventh, kicks off our parade at four
thirty and then our opening ceremony at five. Then we
will continue on with our local acts with Stratus as
well as the Unit Band and then Junkyard Band. Tonight
tomorrow we'll be starting with our local band. It's our
female night, it's all ladies night, and we're starting without
(28:51):
some of our local artists, and then we're going on
to Christopher Williams and then Troop and then on Saturday again,
we're going to have X Squire to kick it off
all the way up until we get to DJ Cool
and then our headline is going to be RSVP. Sunday's
all Gospel from twelve thirty with the Community Wide Service
(29:11):
with the Pastor Wanda Shelton preaching, and then our gospel
music going all the way to four thirty with the
Virginia Airs. Then Sunday night is our hip hop night
for our young people. We'll have local artists kicking it off.
We'll have Mac Jones as our headliner, and then to
close out the night would be Zap and then the
finale would be a great wonderful firework show that we
(29:33):
always look forward to having.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
All Right, we appreciate you folks being there, and again
it's not just about the music. And go to your
Facebook page. You do a great job with your social media.
All the events are there, mister Briston tomorrow. It's always
a pleasure to have both of you here. Thank you,
good luck with everything, Thank you so much. Happy multifest,
thank you so much.
Speaker 12 (29:48):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Plan to see you so yeah, yeah, we'll have you.
That's shinded threatening I'll be back if.
Speaker 14 (29:54):
I can just add On Saturday morning, I forgot to
say that we do have an exercise component starting at
eight o'clock because we want to make sure people stay healthy.
Speaker 12 (30:01):
So from eight to twelve noon.
Speaker 14 (30:03):

four Points Hotel, So please come out and let's get physical.

Going to give a little love to our sister station
out to eat seven A Mountain for a moment. Big
event tonight happening over at five Street Brewery in Summer
(32:54):
Street at Charleston. Actually going to be a series of
things going on at five Street as we are kind
of referring to it as our weekend care off of sorts.
We will be broadcasting live we meaning the Mountain from
there the first and third Thursdays of every month. Here
to talk about it now from the Mountain is the
semi legendary Steve Animal how you doing.
Speaker 18 (33:12):
Man, I'm having a large day about yourself.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
I am doing well. I mean, you know, I just
had to folks for multifest on and you know they
got multi Fest kicks off today. You got the event
going on at FIVEE Street. The Alumni Association of Greater
Canaws got their big event at the Bucket on Saturday.
You and I and others from the company, we are
going to be a part of the Yeah over Trojan Landing.
(33:43):
I'll have the folks from Trojan Landing on the show tomorrow.
We've got kegs for Canines going on. You and I
will both be there for that. So there are a
lot of things going on. But talk about this partnership
with the Fife Street that we've got starting this evening.
Speaker 18 (33:54):
Yeah, So a few months back, we had the brainchild
to create I like beer, how about we do animal
Ale in conjunction with the radio station, So ninety eight
seven the Mountain, myself, Derek, John Doty, the rest of
the crew at five Street, how about we create a beer.
(34:17):
And we did and it was called Animal Ale. They're
currently brewing more of it. It actually the first run
keg blew out in sixteen minutes, a record for them.
Then thereafter everything blew out over the next twenty four hours.
So excited to be there our first and third thursdays
of the month. The parties will now be there every month,
(34:40):
so just put it on your calendar six o'clock you
plan to join us. If you haven't been to Fife before,
and a lot of people haven't, they have great sandwiches,
my favorite being Buffalo Chicken dip or the Buffalo Chicken
grilled cheese sandwich.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
I like food, I'm a fan.
Speaker 18 (34:57):
And they have the great outside seating area right across
from Slack Plaza on Summer Street. If you haven't been
there before, do not miss out on a great opportunity
to come on out and join join us. Gonna be
a good one.
Speaker 3 (35:09):
You know, the animal al thing was kind of interesting
because we launched that thing, and you know, I've never
been part of a beer launching party before, and I've
never known anyone that had a beer named down had
a sandwich named after me once, but I've never had
a beer named after me. And that event on that
Friday night, I mean, you couldn't have gotten another person
down there, and of course all the area outside it
was it was a beautiful evening. Although it was hot,
(35:30):
it was a very beautiful evening. Yes, and it was
just it was just all it was just off the
charts man, and all the all the beer's gone.
Speaker 18 (35:38):
It is, and they'll make more. That's the neat thing
about beer. Fife Street can make more. And yeah, to
be honored, recognized or somebody apparently I've arrived if I
have a beer named after you, and and you know
this thing with five Street, as we said, you're gonna
be down there on the first and third Thursdays every month.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
It's kind of a way to just kick start the weekend.
Speaker 18 (36:03):
Right absolutely, I consider the weekend should start on Thursday anyway.
Speaker 3 (36:06):
So well some of us live it like it starts
on Monday. So not to point any fingers, but they're
going towards you don't look at me. Yeah, but but
so we're looking forward to it again. We'll be down
there on the first and third, including tonight, all kinds
of giveaways and all the fun that comes whenever we
we meaning the Mountain, which I'm also a part of
broadcast lot.
Speaker 18 (36:25):
Yes, and today is actually if you didn't know, National
i PA Day and so they have those if you
like those are a lighter fair. They have the Charleston Ale,
which is pretty awesome and straight calls homie. I love
the I love the names of these beers. So but
Animal Ale is my favorite.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
Of course it is. You know, at that night, I
didn't get any animal al Oh well, I mean because
you know, there was a lounge long line, and I
figure that you would take care of me on that
and I wouldn't have to wait in line with everybody else,
and I didn't want to take it away from our
from the way line, and so I left there with
not having any animal and I still haven't had any animals.
Speaker 18 (37:05):
You will when it's back.
Speaker 3 (37:06):
How do you how would you describe it to people?
Speaker 18 (37:08):
All right, so when we first met to sit down, Like,
I like bud Light, Miller Lite, Quartz Light. However, I
also like Sam Adams, I like fat tires, so they're
a little bit heavier but not much, but like, is
there a way to blend the two and get kind
of a neat flavor from that? And they hit it
on the head, so to the guys at five Street
(37:30):
and girls, oh you guys.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
And we're hoping they'll have it back there soon.
Speaker 18 (37:34):
Yes, it's actually being brewed right now. It takes about
six weeks courage batch, so they're doing a large batch
and we're very excited about it.
Speaker 3 (37:42):
All right again, be sure and make plans to join
us tonight. We'll start getting there about five thirty civil
start at six. The Mountain is live on the air
and you're holding up a shirt here.
Speaker 18 (37:54):
We have a new run of T shirts from East
Coast Tease the Animal.
Speaker 3 (37:59):
Please please hold up up to the microphone so everyone
can see it.
Speaker 18 (38:01):
I am.
Speaker 3 (38:04):
I don't think I have that one yet?
Speaker 5 (38:05):
Do you not?
Speaker 3 (38:07):
Are they? Is that a new designs got Steve Animal on.
Speaker 18 (38:09):
The morning six to ten on the Mountain. If you don't,
I know where our whole box of them.
Speaker 3 (38:14):
Yeah, I know the guy that makes them. I know
the sweatshop they come from. All right, So all right,
so we'll see you down there tonight. And then you
and I have a busy, busy couple days because, as
I said on Saturday, starting at about ten o'clock, we
are going to be over Trojan Landing. We're giving away
one thousand dollars and a brand new bike.
Speaker 18 (38:32):
For Royal Landfield.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
It's all of our stations are taking part in that.
So it's not just us, the Beat and CHS and
you know all the stations will be there for that.
And then Saturday afternoon you and I will be over
at Kegs for canines at the rect Line.
Speaker 18 (38:47):
From Saturday afternoon till who knows when the red carpet.
Speaker 3 (38:53):
Get out of here. I got, I got phone calls
to get treated so poorly. All right, Steve, animal ladies
and gentlemen, I appreciate you a stop by, and again
we'll see you tonight at five Street. We'll start things
down there at about six o'clock and plan on being
there with us on the first and third Thursdays of

get your name wrong every time you call?
Speaker 8 (40:54):
I don't know, all right, yeah, yes, First of all,
it's very I'm kind to that gentleman animal. He's Steve
zz And there's another mistake you've made in a couple
of times in the past month. You're not alone, and
it's not just you media guys. It's all over the society.
(41:15):
Everybody's making the same mistake. You're identifying AI as artificial
intelligence when in reality it's automatic idiot. I know because
I just spent forty minutes largually none of it was

if that's not an automatic idiot in slow motion?
Speaker 3 (41:59):
What is they tell us though, Tommy that it's the
future AI. I mean, it's taken over everything. I'm gonna
I'm gonna just go ahead and go out on a
limb here and say you're not a fan.
Speaker 8 (42:09):
I'm gonna. I'm gonna just say what I said to
the phone on occasion just a few minutes ago, but
every once in a while and over for the past
several years, human being, and see if that does me
any good. It doesn't tell me any good. And I
(42:30):
feel bad for the young people, because you know, I
don't have that much longer. They got to put up
with it for decades into the future.
Speaker 3 (42:40):
All right, Hey, Tommy, apologize for getting your name wrong.
But I appreciate the phone call. AI does not say
for artificial intelligence, as you said, I appreciate you being here.
Thanks a lot. We'll talk to sick. It is nine

the folks of Trojan Landing happening on Saturday. We're teaming
up with them to give away a brand new motorcycle
and one hundred or I'm sorry, not one hundred, but
I must went up to one hundred thousand dollars and
the folks at Trojan Landing just drove off the road. No,
(43:21):
I'm sorry, it's one thousand dollars in cash and that
we are going to be given that away. All of
our stations will be a part of that. And we've
been registering for people for a couple of months now,
Saturdays give away day. Our office staff here has been
contacting people who are finalists. But we're going to let
a limited number of people register that day, to a
very limited number, and we'll just chew I mean most

worry that we're you know that you know we've renamed
on our deal or anything like that. It's not that,
it's just we're on only a few limited people will
be chosen that day. So if you're a finalist, you're
a finalist. But we're also going to add a couple more.
Plus there's a ton of other give away we're going
to be given away during this live broadcast, live music,
food and more out there. We'll start things about ten

As Commissioner Selango to yesterday, during one tournament, there were
(48:03):
no hotels available in a sixty mile radius of Charleston.
Now think about that for a moment, within sixty miles
of the Shawnee Sports Complex. There were no hotels available,
all because of events that were going on. I think
this was a combo event that was going on with
Charleston or with Shawnee should say, and the folks in Barbersville.

Speaker 3 (49:46):
Yeah, uh, Dave's in dave Arms Hotel Dave. We're back
in the and Pub. Yeah yeah, Well that's that's a given,
all right. Uh So uh, I mean you have to understand,
I mean, TJ. You're a numbers guy more than I am.
I mean people that says nobody's going to come to
Charleston to stay. Really, I mean, have you driven by
(50:09):
the Shawnee Sports Combat And I'll tell you this story
real quick. My wife reminded me I needed to tell
this story. This past weekend, she and I went up
to Easton the Columbus area of Ohio, and we're driving
in town. I don't know exactly where we were. I
just when we go somewhere, she just says, turn left,
turn right, you know, I just you know, listen to her.
So I don't know where we were. But we were
in Ohio, somewhere near Columbus, and we drove by one
(50:32):
of these multi field facilities. There had to be a
thousand people out there with all these different games, because
it just seemed like we just kept driving and Okay,
there's another game. There's another game. There's another on down
the line. And I said yesterday on the show back,
you know, in my younger days, a sporting event, a
road game was on the other end of the county. Yeah, no,
(50:53):
Now a road game is in Detroit or something. Look,
I think there's a need. You want to know why
somebody wouldn't open a hotel. Well, I'll tell you the
hassle factor.
Speaker 5 (51:03):
Yeah, yeah, something like like a Holiday Inn or a
Hampton in or something. A lot of those are franchises,
and so you've got somebody that's got to put their
capital to work. And if you take a look at
what they can get just sticking it in the market,
averaging eleven percent with no hassle of finding employees, running
a business, taking care of all of that.
Speaker 3 (51:21):
I mean, that's the biggest deal. Do I think there's
a need here?
Speaker 5 (51:23):
Yeah, I just think that there's easier ways to make
a buck than being in the hotel business. But I
would not argue that there's a need. I mean, like
you said, I'd drive by Shawnee all the time. You
drive by there on a Sunday morning on your way
to church on sixty four. I mean, I cannot fathom
where all those people come from. It's amazing come from
(51:43):
and they come, they come from all over. And anybody
that says that was a bad idea to pull that
golf course out and look, I love to golf, you
know that. Kudos to Selango on that one, brother, I
mean he got it right, right right indeed.

I don't know anybody in Mond County or the surrounding areas.
