there will be soon. We've allheard this controversy about the budgetary crisis is
at West Virginia University, forty fivemillion dollars in at and well, there's
a there's a website that looks intothings going on at colleges. It's called
College Fix, and they discovered thatin the midst of all of this budget
(02:22):
problems at West Virginia University, theygot somebody there just thinking about two hundred
and thirty thousand, I think twoundred and thirty five thousand dollars a year,
which is two hundred and ninety eightpercent more than what the average WVU
employee gets paid. And I'm nottalking about somebody that is the president of
the university. Going to get intothe story is of a guy named Matt
(02:43):
Lamb that runs this is actually aneditor with this website. It's called college
Face. We're going to talk tohim coming up a little bit later on.
Also, if you're an NFL fan, this story from this gentleman out

the seventeenth Annual Trick or Beat poweredby Todd Judy Motors, Goimar Ballpark Thursday
night. What he was from thebeating is with us right now. What
are you good morning? How areyou good morning? Big dog? How
you doing sir? I am doingwell? Man. Seventeen years this is
the seventeenth annual Trick or Beat poweredby Todd Judy Motors. Seems like it
was just yesterday, doesn't man toyou? It might to you, It
(03:49):
might three like yesterday to me.Seems like seventeen years in the making,
my brother, But it's a beautifulthing. First, I want to congratulate
you. You know you can smellmoney from a mile away. When they
changed the name of a show,it's now the Dave Allen Shall congratulates my
friend. Well, thank you,as I said yesterday on the show,
and I already got a text aboutand somebody said, what happened to five
(04:10):
to eighty Live? What did Imiss? Absolutely nothing? Just to name
change, you know. And aboutthat smelling money part, man, are
you really going to talk about somebodymaking money Woodrow? I mean, come
on you, of all people,I got five kids in a grandchold.
I gotta be out every day.But I understand. Tell us about the
tricker beating. How the whole thingcame about going back all those years ago?
(04:33):
Man, Seventeen years ago, aex coworker of mine, still a
friend of mine, Lisa Lee,came up with something. He had a
little extra sons in college. Nowthat is crazy. He's at Marshall Go
heard. Yes. She's like,we need to do something that's safe and
well lit. So we hooked upwith the ballpark. It was power back
then, and we've been going seventeenyears. I never thought he's it like
(04:57):
this will go seventeen years, butit's It is happening this Thursday at Gomart
Ballpark, and it's getting bigger andbigger and bigger and bigger, like Dave.
Literally, my phone hasn't stopped abouttickets. Now here's the thing about
the tickets. They are absolutely free. We do not charge for this event,
but we must got it. Wegot to keep a count on how
(05:18):
many kids that's going to come up, because we did it one year in
like five six thousand kids that wedidn't have enough candy. That wasn't right.
So now we cut it off atthree thousand kids and three thousand we'll
be three thousand kids over at gomarBall that we have two sessions now,
the first session, all the ticketsare gone. The second session day we
(05:40):
got a few left. When Isay a few, I'm talking about ten
fifteen, twenty twenty five, tenand five forty like it's less than one
hundred. So it's close to anothersellout. Now, I don't know what
do we call it a sellout ifit's free or what are you? I
mean? You could say, well, I don't know. I mean,
you're you're the promoter. You tellme I don't know, but I mean,
(06:00):
and it's important to know. Thisis why we do the tickets because
people you know, and I've beenthere for three years, but I followed
this. You know, going backyears and years I heard about it and
people said, you know, whydo you have tickets for a free event.
This is why you have to havetickets for a free event, because
if everybody showed up, you know, we'd be completely out of candy.
And so the first session is done, is what you're saying, right,
(06:21):
Yes, sir, the first session, those tickets are gone, and the
second session we got a few left. And if we don't do tickets,
we'll be there to the ventus Thursday. We'll probably be there this Saturday morning.
I give you a three day marathon. So we love we love the
interest in it, we love howpeople support this, we love the community.
(06:42):
I think we got over like thirtyvendors that that's gonna be there passing
now, Candy and Dave. Thebest part about this, my friend,
Yes sir, we don't have likeyou know, you know, back in
the day you might get a tutsiroll or an apple, or some people
might even give you a piece ofpie or something. You go walk around
the neighborhood. We got the goodcandy. We got the candy bars,
(07:02):
the Snickers, the Skittles, thereci cups like this probably This event has
won multiple awards for the best promotionin the state. Yes A Radio wise,
and we're gonna stand on that.Man. I think this is the
best promotion that any radio station havedone in the twenty three years out been
in Charleston, and we're just gonnamake it bigger and better. My brother
(07:25):
and my producer, Ryan Nicholson isin there literally licking the glass on the
studio right now. When you starttalking about candy, he suddenly suddenly his
Thursday night freed up. He's goingto be there. So how does you
said, there's a limited number oftickets. Where do people get tickets?
You can get tickets at any TideJudy Motors location. I think they got
three. They got one in moreMed, one in Saint Authres, and
(07:46):
one on Charleston's west side Sir PatrickStreet. Then you can get them out
of our radio station eleven eleven VirginiaStreet East. And we just did this
this. We just put some ticketsin Elements Federal Credit Union. I think
they got a couple locations that theygot limited amount of tickets also, So
you go to Element Federal Credit Unionand get those tickets that hour you get
(08:09):
your tickets today. Now, parents, you don't need tickets because we're not
giving you candy now, just yourkids. So don't go grab fifteen tickets.
And you only got five kids,so please keep in mind it's a
lot of kids in our listening area, so just just grab the tickets you
need for your child, please oryour children please. And our listening area
(08:30):
just tripled over the last couple ofmonths when we moved the Beat from ninety
eight to seven to one oh sevento three. So now, I mean,
you know, people can always listenonline or on the app or whatever,
but now people are listening to yourstation, the station of you and
Act right and all the others. They're listening in Huntington, now, they're
listening in Logan. I mean, they're listening in all these places right now.
(08:52):
We do. You're out there, man, man, I love it.
Man. I expect to see newfaces. And that's what That's why
I've been in I mean, it'snot about me. That's why we've been
in radio, yeah for a longtime, to do this community work.
Man. It seems like it's aneasy thing to the regular eye, but
it's a lot of work behind. It seems not just by me, the
whole entire staff at our radio stage. We bust our bucks to make sure
(09:16):
this is a fun, well lied. We've got Papa John's Pizza. It
is probably one of the best partiesthat you're going to see with young folks
in our state. And it's goingdown Thursday. I'm excited, my brother,
and there's no way that we couldpull this off, Woodie without the
other sponsors. You know, youmentioned the folks at Todd Judy Motors,
but there's so many others. Solangolaw A to Z Outlet, New Beginning

Kidderoo's Ace's Coalition of Charleston, justto name a few. And that's
a list I put together over theweekend. There's probably more has been added
(10:00):
since then, Woodrow, no doubt, man. We've got to give a
shout out to the city of Charleston, to our great mayor. She's like,
yo, you know I'm gonna bethere. So you know, Mayor,
Mayor, like, we passed outa lot of candy in r booth,
but I bet, I bet youthe City of Charleston probably passed out
about at least five thousand dollars worthof candy. They got to slow her
down, Tina got to slow themayor down, like, Yo, Mayor,
(10:20):
we got another session. But that'swhat she does. Man, So
shout out to the City of Charleston. And we're excited. I'm really excited
because this is our first time doingthis under the one oh seven three umbrellas.
So we're gonna see a lot ofnew young folks walk through Gomar Ballpark
this Thursday, and we hope soquickly. I'm gonna let you get a
little plug in for the Beat.I mean, as I said, for
(10:41):
years ninety eight seven was a staple. We did some moving around. We
gave you more power. You andthe guys over there and the ded of
course and everybody. Uh so talkabout what the what the buzz has been
about the Beat since we upped yourpower by you know, about eight thousand
percent. You know, the biggestthing is h brit the DJ act right
back. Yes, sir, he'sreally he's really in the community. He's
(11:05):
he's just he's like my little brother. Man. I've seen him grow so
much. And coming up November first, if I can plug this, DJ
act Right is gonna pay somebody mortgageor rent for the entire year. That's
gonna start November first, on oneO seven three, DJ act Right is
gonna chill your bills and we're gonnapay somebody mortgage or rent four years.
(11:26):

Ryan Nicholson as our producer today. You know we've all heard and seen the
(16:37):
problems associated with college in America andhere in West Virginia. You only had
to look to Morgantown to see theproblems at WVU. To know what I'm
talking about, There was a publicationcalled The College Fix, and they recently
published a story entitled amid massive budgetcuts. WVU pays its Diversity, Equity
and Inclusion Director two hundred and thirtyfive thousand dollars annually. Now that is
(17:02):
two hundred and ninety eight percent twohundred and ninety eight percent higher than what
the average worker at WVU makes.Matt Lamb is the associate editor of College
Fix and he joined us now magGood morning, Welcome to the show.
Thanks for having me. First ofall, I want to learn more about
yours. I called it a publication, and old people like me refer to,
(17:22):
you know, things as publications.Talk about College Fix. What kind
of a what kind of an outreachis this is? The publication is online?
What is just a little little commercialfor College Fix? Yeah? Thank
you. So the Collegefix dot comis online and we are a right leaning
education higher education news site. Andthe other great thing we do is we
(17:44):
actually train students in how to writestories, you know, go through primary
sources, interview people. So wehave two missions. We report on higher
education news and then we also providetraining to conservative, libertarian, center right
students that want to go into media. So I sometimes say we're sort of
(18:04):
like the farm team for Fox News, Washington Examiner, as well as other
maybe more mainstream news outlets. Soand I appreciate that. Now either you
know, it's been documented by ofall sorts of media, different outlets about
the financial problems at WVU. Nowwe learned the device president for DEI and
(18:26):
to us old people that sends fordiversity, equity inclusion is raking in two
hundred and thirty four thousand, fivehundred and thirty seven dollars annually plus benefits.
Now, the average worker, andwe're not talking faculty, we're talking
about the average worker WVU makes aroundforty three thousand dollars a year. The
average full time faculty member WVU makesaround ninety seven grand a year. So
(18:48):
if you're keeping score at home, the director of this program is making two
hundred and ninety eight two hundred ninetyeight percent more than the average coworker of
hers at w AM. I correctabout that exactly. So Misha Por she's
actually used to be a delegate andshe runs a twelve person diversity office.
(19:11):
Her salary is actually about thirty sixpercent of the salary budget for that twelve
person department, which includes some peopleunder that department, or let's say the
Americans with Disability Act coordinator. Sopeople who have actually a quality job that
I think provides a good service aresort of lumpdin with the woke DEI chief
(19:32):
and her different functions. Now,again, this is an institution we're talking
about West Virginia University now MAD that'sfacing massive cuts and an estimated forty five
million dollar deficit exactly. And sowe spoke to Adam Kissell at the Cardinal
Institute, and he said that DIoffices and officers are expensive and often counterproductive.
And he suggested that West Virginia officials, particularly as you mentioned, with
(19:56):
this big deficit, should refocus onstudents success its for all students and not
pushing d I on campus. Nowagain, you mentioned her name, Michell
Porte. She's a former delegate andshe is very well known in the Kanaal
Valley. And I want to stressthat I'm not faulting. This is just
Dave talking. I'm not faulty missPoor at all. I mean, she's
just trying to get paid. SoI'm not blaming her for this, but
(20:18):
according to some of the research Idid last night, her salary is in
line with several larger corporations in Americawith I mean, but the difference is,
Matt, those companies don't find themselvesforty five million dollars in the whole
like WVU does. And I don'tknow what they're cutting positions like West Virginia
University is being forced to do nowexactly, and you know, and in
(20:44):
fact, the d I things arecontinuing. Just in September, the university
hosted a what was called Diversity Week, which included playing with therapy dogs,
a social and environmental justice fair,as well as other related activity. So
no, I mean, and exactly, I mean, she gets paid the
position that's there. It's not likeshe necessarily created that gallery. But it
(21:07):
does speak to the broader problem, especially as you mentioned, as a university
is looking to cut program faculty. They are one of the better universities in
terms of reducing administrative blow, butthey still have a big problem. They're
just a little less worse than maybeStanford University or Harvard. So for those
of us that are old and don'tunderstand what DEI folks do explain the whole
(21:30):
concept, whether it's a university orcorporation, whatever, explain the whole concept
of this DEI and what exactly itmeans. Well, I'll tell you I've
been trying to figure out for yearswhat they do all day. But basically,
a DEI chief pushes all of thosethose things you've probably heard about,
anti racism, critical race theory.Sometimes they do these white privileged walks where
(21:56):
they make all the white students say, you know, how privileged are you?
Do you have two parents? Areyou Christian? You know, do
your parents have college degrees? Soa lot of what they do is they
just generate animosity on campus. Thecollege ticks dot com has a handful of
stories about universities that poured all thismoney into DEI and then there you know,
(22:18):
the racial climate, as measured byasking the black and the Hispanic students
didn't improve. In some ways,I think DEI works counter to it because
it tells people there's a problem ofracism where there really isn't. And I
think a lot of this has exploded, as we've probably seen on college campuses
in the past few weeks with prohamas students who are saying that Hamas's terrorist
(22:38):
attacks were just part of decolonization andfighting the oppressor. Yeah, I actually
watched a little bit last night.I know, he's one of the most
controversial guys out there and has beenfor some time. A lot of people
like him, a lot of peopledon't. I don't agree with everything he
does, but I'm I'm a fanof the show of Bill Maher, and
I was watching Bill Maher from overthe weekend. I was actually watching the
(22:59):
show that I had recorded last night, and he was talking, you know,
and he is generally speaking seen asa leftist of the left, of
the most left of the left.He is speaking out against college campuses right
now, for he calls them theend and he went to an Ivy League
school, and he's talking about theindoctrination that's going on on these college campuses
(23:21):
with things like this, and sonow that if you've got Bill Maher,
you know who's like, as Isaid, is to the left of the
left, or at least has beenfor years speaking out against these things,
you know, there's a problem.Absolutely. I mean, and we just
see this when speakers are shouted downthe college bicks actually runs a campus cancel
Culture database, and we see thesewalls getting torn literally a wall was torn
(23:42):
down in Virginia Tech or University ofVirginia. Statues are torn down, people
are canceled. There was actually auniversity that wanted to charge a higher security
feed for a speaker from this greatgroup called Speech First because her last name
is Trump and she's not even tothe president. But the school said,
well, students might get confused andcause all these problems just because you have
(24:06):
the same last name as a presidentwho maybe isn't particularly popular among you know,
leftist academics and their students. Wehad a couple of texts here to
the show, and I want togive you an opportunity to address these again.
We're talking with Matt Lamb from collegefixdot com about some of the other
folks at WV. They mentioned RobAlsop, but I know you're out of
state. I don't expect you toknow all these people. But to the
president, Gordon Gee, I mean, these these salaries are out of line,
(24:30):
regardless of who they are and whohold the office. Would you agree
with that? Yeah, in manycases, I forget what the study's from,
but that they've compared college salaries totheir equivalent in the corporate world,
and in many cases it's particularly amongthe administrative. I think they're much higher.
A janitor at a college orsus ajenitor at private corporation. It's just
(24:52):
roughly equal, let's say, ora landscaper campus police officer. But you
know, the equity the DI officers. I mean, most most small companies
don't even have the I officers, and for a good reason. So,
yeah, a lot of these salariesare just completely out of line with with
the rare equivalent because there's no wayto measure the benefit of them. Yeah,
(25:15):
and this is something I mean,we're going to continue to see out
there. But is there a Imean, again, if a college,
in my opinion, can afford it, you know, more power to them.
And again I want to say, just for me, I'm my problem
is not with the person holding theoffice. My problem is with the system
in general that allows us to happen. If a college is if their books
are all inline and they can do, you know, more power to them.
(25:37):
But the problem, you know,Matt at WVU, is they're not.
And that's why we're seeing people Andthere's been many on this show and
on other places that I've talked aboutwe've got to do something to WVU.
Seems like to me, from whatyou're telling me, this might be a
good place to start. Exactly.Look, I look, I've worked for
nonprofits my entire life, and youknow, I've been in the meetings where
you look at the budget and youhave a certain amount of money coming in,
(26:00):
and of course you know we're anonprofit. We couldn't just go to
the tax pair like West Virginia canand just you know, fleece them out
of more money. And so Ithink every position is it's perfectly reasonable to
say should this be cut, shouldthis be frozen? Perhaps you keep some
of the de staff, but youcut back on some of their activities,
or you maybe have them do somethingof actual value, perhaps running you know,
(26:21):
some sort of program to help maybeminority students or all students succeed.
And so absolutely I think it shouldbe on the table. I mean,
I think if you're cutting the civilengineering program or discussing cutting it, that
the DEI chief we should be lookingat what do they bring to the table,
What does her department bring to thetable. And again no sort of
animosity against her personally, but justlooking at it. From a number's perspective.
(26:42):
Yeah, well, it's kind oflike I'm a big sports gap man.
It's kind of like saying, well, I don't think major League Baseball
players out to get twenty million dollarsa year, but I don't fault the
first basement for the Yankees for takingthe twenty million dollars a year because it's
there. Hey, Matt, it'sbeen a pleasure to talking to you.
Is college fix dot com if youwant to see more information on this and
others ords. This is not justa West Virginia thing. And I did
(27:03):
a deep dive into your website lastnight and your social media. There's a
lot of stories like this across thecountry, and so I would I would,

But is this really the best wayto go about it? When you
have an institution that's forty five milliondollars in the whole Texas. Why doesn't
the so called anti woo gade goafter AEP. They have a major DEI
program. I'll tell you why.The so called anti brigade doesn't stand on
principle. It doesn't operate in goodfaith. Don't listen to this and sepid
(28:10):
moron. Well, although it's autility, AEP is a private company,
so and well with a you know, I guess, I guess the power
company and utilities are one of thosethat kind of kind of you know,
straddle the line, so to speak. But they're still a privately held company.
They're they're a private company. Ifif IBM wants to do this,
a Toyota wants to do this, you know, more power to them,
(28:33):
in my opinion. Twenty five minutesaway from ten the Day Valance Show brought

want to bring in the hardest workingman in radio, Joe Bricado for Metro
(33:28):
and his Joe good morning, Howare you hey? Good morning, David,
thanks for being here. The wholeNFL world is talking about this young
man, Tyson Bagent, young manfrom Martinsburg, played his college ball at
Shepherd University, was undrafted, signedwith the Bears, and really lit hit
up this past weekend against the Raidersin his first NFL start. Yeah,
tremendous performance, very efficient, nothingtoo flashy. They didn't ask him to
(33:52):
throw downfield on every snap, butthey gave him a good playbook to work
with and he played very effectively.Completed twenty one out of nine passes as
first NFL touchdown pass. A verygood performance from that young man. And
as you mentioned, the backstory isincredible, and it's interesting to see a
lot of the national people that coveredthe NFL start to pick up on it,
(34:14):
and it's starting to gain a lotof steam. Yeah, indeed,
and I've been reading about this guyfor years. I had Woody Woods on
a little bit earlier what he spentsome time up in Martinsburg, and he
talked about I guess that the gentleman'sfamily lived near the radio station that we
have up there. But from thecoverage that you've done and Kyle and the
others, Fred and the entire crewhave done, this guy's been a big
deal for some time. He hasbeen. Anybody who follows West Virgnia High
(34:38):
School football obviously knew what he didgrowing up, winning a pair of state
titles for Martinsburg in twenty sixteen andtwenty seventeen, and it was kind of
surprising that he never really generated notonly any type of high level Division one
offers, but he didn't have anyDivision one offers. There were some schools
that were talking to him, butin terms of formal scholarship offer, Shepherd
(35:00):
was the best move for him,and it obviously worked out tremendously well.
Played five seasons there so that allkinds of records that you could possibly imagine,
and led Shepard to the NAA Divisiontwo semi finals in his last two
seasons. So, with all duerespect to my alma matern, Marshall university
in West Virginia University and all theothers. Where were they when this young
man was trying to decide to picka college. Well, you're right,
(35:23):
it's not just it's not just WestVirginia. It's not just Marshalls. I
mean, there's lots of other divisionyou know, Shepherd's obviously not far from
Maryland. You would have figured thatthat might have generated a little buzz,
and Tyson did get some interest whenhe entered the transfer portal prior to the
twenty twenty two season. Some Divisionone programs were certainly on him, but
(35:45):
he made the decision to return toSheppard and put up great numbers in that
final season there. And he wasthe first West Virginia, the first West
Virginia born and bred player to startat quarterback in the NFL. And quite
sometimes is that that read the nineteensixties? Is that right? I believe
so? Yes. And to beable to win his first start, you
(36:07):
know, that's truly incredible. Andwhat was interesting And I had a chance
to cover his pro day, orthe separate university pro day back in March,
and there were scouts from thirty oneof the thirty two NFL teams there,
and I kind of thought to myself, all right, this guy is
certainly going to get drafted, it'sjust a question of what round. So
it was a little bit surprising thathe didn't get drafted. But I think
(36:30):
a lot of times you hear thatif you're a player that maybe gets picked
in the back half of the seventhround or the last round, maybe it's
better for you to be an undraftedfree agent because you can kind of pick
your spot. And perhaps this situationworked out best for Tyson because the Chicago
Bears quarterback position really wasn't a verydeep room behind Justin Fields. They had
had a couple of NFL journeymen, and ultimately Baijorent beats out all those guys
(36:53):
to get the backup spot. Andwe see how that pays off once Justin
Fields got injured. And I knowsome of the people maybe think what about
Hostetler or Bulger or Chad Pennington ByronLeft, which none of those players,
as good as they were, werefrom West Virginia originally as Tyson Beijing is.
Again we're talking to Joe Bricado forMetro New Sports. I wonder what
the Google searches look like for ShepherdUniversity, Joe. After Sunday's game,
(37:15):
everyone outside of the state, maybesome inside the state trying to figure out
where in the heck is Shepherd University. Yeah, no question about it.
Undoubtedly Shepherd rams dot com has probablygotten a lot more hits over the last
couple of days then previously. Andobviously that's still a heck of a program.
They're having another great year. Butyou know, it's also a great
(37:35):
showcase for the strength of football throughoutall of the levels of college football.
I mean, you do have goodplayers that come up at the smaller Division
I schools, the FCS level, and obviously there's lots of Division two football
players that break through every year andget into the pros. But it's interesting
to see that the quarterback position becauseit is so rare to have that.
So Justin Fields is a quarterback forthe Bears. Now he's getting the big
(37:59):
money, so he's not to begoing anywhere. They say, I think
I read somewhere about a month ortwo he may be back under under center
in the starting position. Is thatright? Yeah? What Matt Evercluster head
coach, has said. Once Fieldis healthy and recovered from his thumb injury.
The job is his. He willnot lose the job due to injury.
Now, Field did have a goodperformance against the Commanders recently in the
(38:20):
bears first win of the season, but wasn't exactly setting the world on fire.
So you have to wonder if Beagent, for however long he remains the
starter, has success, does hekind of win over the Chicago fan base
to a point where maybe they're okayif Fields doesn't come back and be the
starter. Now, again, it'sa high investment that they made in justin
(38:42):
Fields and not so much enticson Beagent. So from the organization's standpoint, Field
is still their guy, but beaigenthas an opportunity to gain a lot of
good will if he's able to duplicatethe performance he had on Sunday. Well,
and I don't know what kind ofcontract deal that he's got, As
you said that he wasn't drafted. He signed as a as a free agent
for the Bears, Joe, SoI don't know. Maybe sometimes situations like
(39:02):
this, you're auditioning for another team, you know, on down the line.
So they're certainly and again we don'twant to we don't put this guy
in Canton just yet, Okay,he just he just had the you know,
they're really and as you said,it wasn't that he did had a
great game, but he managed thegame. And sometimes in football that's all
you need, you don't know,I mean, there have been plenty of
Super Bowls that were won by quarterbacksthat may not have been the best,
(39:25):
didn't really light it up, butthey managed the game well. It didn't
make all the mistakes. And formister Maagent Joe, for the rest of
us enjoy it because it's a greatsports story for all of West Virginia.
And his dad was a World armWrestling champion too, is I think he
pointed out, Yeah, so you'repicking up his story as well. Tyson's
(39:46):
father who gained a lot of attentionas Tyson's profile started to gain. You
know, during the Senior Bowl,I remember seeing a lot of coverage,
well, who's this Tyson Bajon,Who's this Division two guy that's competing with
all of the blue chip prospects fromthe Division one level, And then you
start to see the story about Ibelieve it's a twenty six time World of
(40:07):
Arm Wrestling champion. I'm not onehundred percent certain on the actual number.
But yeah, so obviously Tyson's fatheris picking up a lot of well arnered
attention as well. Alongside there's liketen different e sixties documentaries that could come
out of this whole story. Joethe Hardest working Man in Radio Joe Bricatto.

I got our winner here. LillianMcCown is our winner of the tickets to
(48:43):
the Log Show Log Home Show thisweekend. So Lillian, I appreciate you
listening and enjoy the show. Reallyweird story out of Putnam County. It's
posed to wv Metronews dot com.A former employee with the Postal Service has
pled guilty to desertion of mail.He has. His name is Michael Burdette
and he's from Saint Albans. Originally, he admitted to placing mail and a
(49:07):
dumpster in Winfield at least twice. And the reason is because he was running
late for a personal matter, sohe just ditched the mail and admitted that
he did had appointments, had somethingto with the family, whatever, just
do it behind a dumpster in Winfield. Now, to be fair, he
was kind of like a contract worker. He was hired by UPS as a
(49:30):
rural carrier associate earlier this year.He admitted that over two hundred pieces of
mail just got tossed. His sentencingis scheduled for January. He's facing him
to a year in prison and somefines and as I read this story last
night, I'm thinking, by allmeans, let's expand vote by mail.
(49:52):
I'm not an election conspiracy by anystretch of the imagination. You know me.
You know that. I'm the guywho said, as a Republican,
Trump lost the election in twenty twenty. I get it, but I'm not
so sure that expanding vote by mailis a way to go. And it's
stories like this, albeit maybe aisolated incident, that kind of solidify my
(50:16):
opinion on that. Now I'm notsaying, don't get me wrong with this
guy was involved in election tamperum becausethere were no elections around that time.
Just looks like, according to hisown emission, he was running late and
decided to just toss some mail behinda dumpster in Winfield. But things like
that do happen. I told youyesterday that Delicatemore Capita was somewhat critical of
(50:37):
Attorney General Patrick Morrissey for not wantingto take part in the Metro News gubernatorial
debate of Morgantound in December. Morrisseywants to wait until after the filing deadline,
which is in January. Well, now you could add Secretary of State
Mac Warner to the list of Republicancandidates who are criticizing the AG two story
post to wv Metronews dot com,Warner says Morrissey is being quote disingenuous,
(50:58):
saying yesterday one of our sister stations, mister Warner, was that he said
that yesterday there Warner, Capito, and Chris Miller are all good with the
debate narrated a hoppy in Morgantown inDecember. Now keep in mind that no
one asks of yesterday is officially acandidate until the January finaling period is up.
Warner, Capitol, and Miller haveall filed pre candidacy papers for governor,
(51:21):
while Morrissey still listed as a precandidate for undeclared. I wouldn't read
too much into that, though.Morrissey's definitely going to be a candidate for
governor. I mean he's leading inthe polls for governor and the money raising
departments as well. Tix says WVUcame after Mishapor she was at the legislature.
YEP, that is true. Accordingto a texture Texas mail carry throws

a text all right. Coming upon the show tomorrow, Sandy Call for
