Speaker 4 (02:28):
Capitol Market's got to kill go be the death of me.
Last week it was mag and cheese. Tomorrow it's gravy
and biscuits. Yeah, I mean good heavens And then and
then in what is it next week? The ham Festival orangs?
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Nextly tomorrow afternoon after I met the biscuits and gravy bowl,
I'm going to be in Nitro for the Wagon Tails
and Nitro Ale's Chili cookoff and beer festival. Right, so
it's breakfast and one. It's going to be a great
gastronomical nights. Oh, I'll just say this, don't want to
(03:02):
be gross old to be missus Dave Allen tomorrow night,
and I'm gonna leave it at that. I'm not gonna
go any further than that.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
Well, we will be in Nitro tonight for their final
regular season game, taken on Greenbrier East, and because of
the pending weather, the kickoff time has been moved back
to six o'clock, which means that we will just take
the air. We won't have a pregame show. We'll take
the air as soon as Hotline comes to an end
this afternoon, and if everything's timed right, we'll kick the
(03:32):
darn thing off and away we go. And hopefully the
anticipated storms that are coming through that are said to
be hit and miss as far as or they're going
to drop at least that's what I was following some
of the local meteorologists this morning, that we might get
through that without a delay and we can get in
and out of there and get the game in.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
Yeah, the lightning is the big deal. It's not so
much the rain.
Speaker 4 (03:54):
But I will say, well, it is the brain because
we're actually broadcasting outside for you.
Speaker 5 (03:58):
It is.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
Yes, Nitro's press box is so small that it cannot
accommodate the level of media attention that their success has
garnered them.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
So and as if you're a team that's headed to
the playoffs right now, you know you're kind of keeping
an eye on sloppy field conditions and things of that nature,
because you never want to get a player hurt.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
But you dang sure don't want to get them hurt. Now,
that's not going to be an issue at Nitro. They've
got the turf right.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
I was talking about in general though the other because
a lot of schools are even moving their games up.
Some moved I think to last night.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
Yeah one, Yeah, Princeton and South Charleston was last night.
But you know, this is something that we had a
conversation about the other day with somebody. There aren't very
many fields left that aren't turf right in the region.
I mean, I think Buffalo, Winfield and PoCA are probably
it of the the areas where we do games. Everybody
(04:50):
else has got turf.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
Now step up, Putnam County Hurricans got turf right. It's
what I mean.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
Well, I'm I was proud to vote for the for
the levy that will it get us a new press
box at those three football fields, at all those football
fields in Putnam County.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
I even consulted with them about how they ought to
do that so we don't wind up doing it under
a tent in the rain.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Yeah, which is what's going to happen, is all the
glamorous world of rape. You and I were talking off
the air about that, Chris, Oh, the glamorous world of radio.
Speaker 6 (05:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
Everybody.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
Everybody will say, man, you got the greatest job in
the world. Yes, I do. But you know there's a
price to pay for that. And so you come work
a day on my shoes and see how see how
much you love it at the end of the day.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
So you'll have that game tonight. It'll be you and
Aaron Parker. I guess it is okay. And then the
Hoover game tonight on the Superstar Country ninety six one KWS.
Jeff Jenkins and Jim Workman are going to be called
in that game tonight, as Hoover is in action tonight
as well. That game has also been moved up to
six o'clock. From what I understand, they're taking on Weird right,
that'll be at six. Buddy of a buddy of mine
(05:54):
in college went to We're High school and he was
fond of saying we're high normally was oh, Carl upright?
Whatever happened to Carl up Only.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
I had that that that brim shots sound effect.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
That's what you need there, all right, what you got
on on the Outdoor Show.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
Tomorrow, we'll be talking to somebody with the West Virginia
or with the American Heart Association. As hunting season comes up,
they always uh put out the notice that it's important
to know your limitations when you're deer hunting because so
many so Actually, the number one incident of a hunting
accident these days is a hunter over exerting himself and
(06:32):
having a heart attack in the wood. So we will
bring awareness to that tomorrow. And we've got a couple
other things.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
So all right, Chris, have a great broadcast tonight in
the rain.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
I will endeavor to do that. Hopefully it won't be
in the rain, or hopefully there will be no lightning
or wind and we can just.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Get through it. If the tent goes flying, I'd send
the I'd send the kid after the tent. Yeah, Okay,
he's younger and smaller, so I'm too old. I'm too
old to be chasing tents. Well, the ten belongs to
Nitro High School. Okay, so if the tent goes flying,
you just base just say, well, there goes the tent.
Speaker 4 (07:02):
Sorry, there goes the tent. And that's the ball game,
and we're going home, right because yeah, the equipment is
too it's too valuable. All right, it pays my salary, all.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Right, get out of here, all right. Man, Chris Lawrence
again and he and Aaron Parker will have the call
of that Nitro game tonight. And then on Superstar Country
ninety six one k WUS Jeff Jenkins and Jim Workman
will have the call on Nitro, I mean on Hoover
and we are coming up tonight the Dave Alan Show

stick around after the game that I Fred pur Singer
and Dave Jacklin will have a Metro News game night
with all the results of the final week of the
regular season of high school football, and of course everybody
(07:55):
will get together this weekend and decide who goes where
for next weekend and we will be home for high
school players. We had a lot of airy teams, so
I'm gonna be making the playoffs. We are excited about that.
Also excited about the seventy five game at Marsh University.
Melmanie Polario from the alumni chapter of Marsh University here
in the Kannahal Valley's going to join us a little
bit later on and later, you know, I'm excited about
(08:15):
Biscuits and Gravy Tomorrow. Biscuits and Gravy Bowl is happening
over at Capital Market and we'll talk to Joanna Romeo
own company about that coming up a little bit later
on in the show. Springing Angie Gildenwater now from the
Gannala Charleston Humane Association with this week's Adopt Me Please
Pet of the Week. Good morning, Welcome to the show.
Speaker 7 (08:34):
Good morning, It's finally Friday.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
Finally Friday, and you had a little bit of a
road trip last week, right.
Speaker 7 (08:40):
I did last Friday morning at about five am, myself
and another employee at Kseyja took off to New Jersey
to get some animals adopted.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
So how does that work? And why New Jersey? I mean,
I know that you've gone to other states as well.
What kind of a partnership is that that the local
shelter has with other states? How does that work?
Speaker 7 (09:01):
So it's actually with the pet coo in Middletown, New Jersey.
We set up in their store. They essentially have a
small animal shelter in their store, and it's pretty pretty
similar to how we do pet Co adoptions here. You've
heard me talk about cats that are living at the
pet Co pit houses. These ones are really pet Co
pit houses, and we're able to take dogs as well.
(09:23):
So it's just trying to shed some light on some
animals that maybe get passed up in our area but
look unique to people in New Jersey.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Indeed, indeed, all right, we have our picture of our
pet of the week posted on Dave Allen Radio on
Facebook and also the w CHS Network Facebook page at
Dave A seventy on X, Flame Princess, I gotta ask
about the name, Angie. You always have a good story
about the name.
Speaker 7 (09:47):
So Flame Princess is actually a character from the cartoon
Adventure Time. If anyone has watched that, she is a
character on there, and she is exactly what her name said.
She is a Flame Princess.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
She's a beautiful a beautiful dog. What kind of dog
is she?
Speaker 7 (10:03):
I would say she's probably like a bully mix. She's
got those uppy ears, which kind of throw me for
a loop. But she is a pretty peek, petite dog,
so it's hard to say.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Honestly, she's around thirty pounds at about a year old.
That's what you told me.
Speaker 7 (10:18):
Yeah, she's just under thirty pounds a year old and
already spade, so she may not get any taller, but
she'll likely since she has been said, she'll probably get
a little rounder.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Well, it happens to the best of us, so I'll
tell you, so go check out the picture. We'll have
more on Flame Princess coming up. You guys out and
about anywhere this weekend, so we are not.
Speaker 7 (10:36):
I actually went and talked to the Dunbar Women's Club
last night. I was just talking about the shelter, so
that's the only thing that was planned for this weekend.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
All right, how was your talk with the Dunbar Women's Club.
Speaker 7 (10:47):
Oh, it was lovely. Everyone there was so nice, and
they had also gathered a lot of donations for us,
which was very very helpful as well. So it was
wonderful and I'm glad I wish.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
That's a really interesting point that you bring up about
these organizations, like you know, you mentioned the Dunbar Women's
Club this time, or you know a rotary club somewhere
or whatever, if or a group of high school studs whomever.
If people want to get together as a group and
collect items to be given to the shelter, probably a
good idea to call you first, just so we don't. Yeah,
(11:19):
I mean, there's certain things that you, as you well know,
we could always use at the shelter, but that probably
a good idea to call you and say, hey, here's
what we'd like you to collect.
Speaker 7 (11:25):
Right Absolutely, if you want to reach out to me,
I can also come to your organization and talk about
why gathering donations is important, and you know how effective
it is when things come to us, So I would
be happy to come and talk to groups as well,
just about our shelter. At a glimpse, it took me
about thirty minutes to talk to the Dunbar Women's Club
last night and the entire time everyone had a smile
(11:48):
on their face. So if I can help make a
difference for you guys in thirty minutes, then I will
gladly do so.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
Talking with Angie gillen Water again for the Can All
Trust Newman Association. So what do you guys I mean,
I know it's kind of a recurring theme. You're generally
speaking needing the same things, but give reminded folks what
you're in need of now as far as donations go,
So it's pretty.
Speaker 7 (12:07):
Much the things that we always need. Purina chow products
and cleaning products are big ones right now. Any type
of cleaning products from bleach to gloves, to dishwashing liquid
to laundry detergent, We're going to use all of it.
We have a lot of four hundred and twenty three
animals in the shelter right now, so we are running
through things very very quickly. So cleaning products and Purina
(12:29):
chow are the biggest ones. Keeping everyone fed and keeping
everyone clean.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Yeah, that's the that's a motto for life right there.
Speaking of which I saw in your social media Angie
that you guys we're doing some things with some local
law enforcement agency, So he has a lot of good
pictures with a couple of police departments round here, what's
going on there.
Speaker 7 (12:48):
So we know that everyone is falling upon hard times
currently with the government shutdown, it's you know, taking away
a lot of benefits for people. So we are partnering
with local agencies and handing out pet food and pet
supplies so that way nobody's pet has to go hungry
during this kind of time of unknown. So if your
pet is hungry, reach out to your local law enforcement
(13:12):
agency or if you have a humane officer in your jurisdiction,
and we can supply food for them. If your humane
officer or law enforcement agency does not have the food
that you need, please come to Kyha. If you live
in Cadaal County, we are also we have a pet
food pantry up there that we do be more than
happy to supply your pets with food.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
And that's something that I did not know as long
as you and I have been doing this segment, and
even before you started doing this segment, I've been doing
this segment for five years, I did not know that
you guys had a food pantry for pets.
Speaker 7 (13:41):
We do. We actually handed out about twenty thousand pounds
of food last year January one, December thirty first, So
it's pretty successful. And you know, you hear me say
Purina Chow products for the shelter pets. So any type
of food that gets donated that is not a Purina
Pet Chow brand that goes to the food pantry and
and you know is handed back out to the public.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
All right, We had a text somebody who wanted to
ask about the River Bank puppy. This was the I
guess last week, Uh that there was a dog that
was found down by the river. It was tied to
a tree. I think.
Speaker 8 (14:14):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
And when I had your your cohort on there last week,
your tag team partner, she talked about it a little bit.
But can you give us an update on that?
Speaker 7 (14:22):
Yeah, River is what we never funny.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
Enough because that's not going to cause any kind of trauma.
But but but go ahead.
Speaker 7 (14:33):
The River has since been adopted and River has started
a new life with a new family. Unfortunately, we are
not able to you know, we don't have any information
currently and some who left River in that position. But
if anyone has any information on that, please reach out
to us or the City of Charleston. Police department to
handle accordingly, but River is on to bigger and better
(14:56):
things currently.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
Well, and again, that's an active police investigation right now,
and I hope we find who did it, and I
hope we well, you know, I hope, I hope justice
is served. And I don't want to go into what
I would like to see happened there, because I'd like
to see that person tied to a tree, you know,
for a long amount of time. But they kind of
frown upon that sort of thing. That's why I'm not
in charge. Angie Gillawater, appreciate you and we'll talk again
(15:20):
next week. Thanks a lot. Sounds great week, Angie Gilla
Water can aw Charlest and Humane Association with this week's
Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week, Flame Princess around
thirty pounds, one year old, great dog. And the great
thing about Flame Princess all the fees are waves, so
she is yours make a great pet. ANGI was tele
about whether we mentioned this out loud or not, but
(15:40):
Angie was telling me via tax last night that the
that she does very very well on a leash. I mean,
the dog does well, at least, not Angie, that she
does a great job on that, and so she'd make
a great pet, great pet for somebody. Got the picture
posted this morning Dave Island Radio on Facebook at Dave
A seventy on X and also the WCCHS Network Facebook page.
We got a great track record of getting these pets adopted,
(16:02):
so let's try to get Flame Princess a home. The

a little bit. I'm gonna be doing some I've been
doing some work with them, and I got to go
up and talk to the owners and meet the staff
up there. A lot of renovation going on up there
because that's the former Midway Forward location and so it
(18:36):
was kind of a transition over right now. But they
are building a like a state of the art facility
up there, and so if you in need of a vehicle,
go go see those folks, because Dave said so. Coming
up a little bit later on, we got the biscuits

game honoring the the folks that perish in that plane
crash back in nineteen seventy. Melanie Polario is the director,
I guess, president, the queen whatever you want to call
her for the Alumni Association of marsh Versus here in
a Kanaul valley and she joins us. Now, good morning, Melanie,
welcome to the show.
Speaker 8 (19:17):
Jrny Day. Thank you, thank you for all these titles.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
Yeah, you pick which one you want. You want to
be the Queen, you want to be the executive director,
you want to be the president. What you pick? What
title you want? Melanie?
Speaker 8 (19:29):
Well, thank you? But chapter president, chapter President?
Speaker 2 (19:32):
All right, all right, all right, So let's talk about
the importance of this game. And you know, we it's
been fifty five years ago, and you know, as a
as a son of Marshall, you know that I am.
I think sometimes with the passing of time and we've
seen it with you know, other great tragedies, people kind
(19:55):
of just put it in their minds, it's the anniversary
and we'll remember and go on, but talk about why
this is so important that this that this remembrance go
on every year at Marshall University.
Speaker 8 (20:06):
Well, thank you for that. You know, as a daughter
of Marshall, I think it's something that's that's in our blood.
It's what we grew up with, it's what we know,
and it's a way for us to honor and keep
those memories of lives, lives that were lost during that time.
And so November is a is a time of blessings
(20:27):
and thanksgivings and to show our appreciation. And you know,
it's a great opportunity for us to do that for
the seventy five that perished in that accident. And so
with that we get to have some great things that
go on in campus, and us as chapters get to
participate as well of doing things to making sure that
(20:48):
that that's always talked about and kept in the forefront
and not forgotten.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
What sort of things have have you got for the
game tomorrow? I know the university is things, but I'm
talking about just the alumni chapters. What what What's what's
going on with the folks in the other groups.
Speaker 8 (21:01):
Tomorrow, well, we're going to the Canal Valley Chapter is
going to be doing some tailgating, so we're going to
have biscuits and beverages as you are having biscuits and
gravy and down there. We'll be at the West lot
on number two eighty nine, So please stop by, and
we've invited all of our not only the alumni from
the Canal Valley Chapter, but the Huntington Chapter, the Beckley
(21:23):
Chapter and anybody that wants to stop by and raise
a glass and share some memories. Is a great way
to do that. So we'll be doing that and then
very excited that next weekend because we're going to be
doing stuff throughout the whole month. So next weekend at
the Marquis Cinema at South Ridge, they're going to be
playing the We Are Marshall movie, which I can't believe
(21:46):
has been the twenty fifth anniversary.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
Wow, I mean, it's it's hard to believe it's been
that long since that movie came out and it's still all.
I mean, you can catch it on cable, your streaming services.
What a great what a great film it was, Yes, yep, yep.
Speaker 8 (22:01):
So there's tickets available and you can buy them online.
But it'll be shown Friday some Saturday times on Saturday
and Sunday, and if you're not in the Charleston area,
it's could be shown in Huntington and Beckley as well.
So take your family and encourage you to take a
friend who hasn't seen the movie before and experience that together.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
You know. And again we're talking to Melody Palario, who
is the chapter president of the marsh University Alumni Association
here in the Kanaal Valley. One of the things that
I think is really interesting that the university does is
when new coaches come in. We have a new athletic director, which,
by the way, Jerald Harrison will be on Metro News
midday later today with us. When new folks come in,
(22:41):
whether it's coaches or administration, or whether it's the players,
and lord knows them, the world college football now everybody's
a new player, no matter what the university is, the
university really goes, Melody, I think above and beyond to
make sure that these newcomers, whether they're the student athletes
or whether they're the coaches, administration, that they know this story.
(23:01):
You know, they go to the cemetery they talk about
the movie. Uh, and it's it's amazing, it really is.
Speaker 8 (23:09):
It is, and it's it's very touching to be a
part of that and to be able to carry those
stories and help share and educate. Whether it's a you know,
a freshman coming to school or visiting the campus or
anywhere you go. You know, if you have a Marshall
sweater on or hat or something, they always know about
(23:29):
the movie and the accident, and so it's going to
be a part of something like that.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
And here's what I have learned since that movie came
out is that if I'm traveling somewhere on vacation or wherever,
and I have, which I frequently do, I have a
Marshall baseball cap on or a hoodie or something like that,
or a jacket, somebody will come up to me and
say something about it. They'll say, you know, I saw
the movie, and I guess because you know, it was
considered to be the worst tragedy in modern it's certainly
(23:58):
in modern sports history.
Speaker 11 (24:00):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
But they know the story now, and you know, the
news cycle in nineteen seventy wasn't what it is now.
So it was the lead story on the nightly news
and so on and so forth. But maybe people that
live in other areas of the country forgot about it,
but they really didn't, because I mean, I can't tell
you the number of times I can tell you why.
I can tell you one in particular, set a grocery
store in Florida, and I had on a Marshall baseball
(24:22):
cap and a guy in line turns around to me
and said, is that Marshall? And I said yeah, And
uh he said did you go there? And I said yeah,
and he said, uh, Man, I just saw the movie
not long ago, and he said, it really touched me.
It was very nice moments because some people definitely definitely
know the story, even outside West Virginia.
Speaker 8 (24:40):
Yeah, it is amazing, and it's a wonderful tribute to
those that Paris and that we can continue to talk
about it and talk about Marshall and what they contributed
and then what those that came after them continued to contribute.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
And I have to say I'm a bit of a
uniform purist when it comes to I like you, I like,
I'm not into all these different color or combinations whatever
that pro and college teams do these days. But I
will say those black helmets with the seventy five on
the side. That's they're pretty sweet.
Speaker 8 (25:10):
They are, they are very striking. They did a great
job with that need to be commended absolutely. The more
thing is get in is that interesting that when you know,
Walker and I were there in last month talking to
you and one of our projects was going to be
supporting the food pantry. Who realized the situation we would
be in today, and so our chapter has there's a
(25:33):
wish list on our Facebook page that they could go
in and pick some items and send to the food
pantry on campus that support. You know, last week I
think they did a pop up and they supported one
hundred and thirty two students and continue to support students,
and so they want to contribute to the food pantry.
That's our project for the fall that we're doing. Encourage
people to visit our Marshall University Kanaal Valley Chapter Alumni

donation and.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Join the organization if you haven't already joined the organization.
All right, Melodie, I always appreciate talking to you, and
good luck with everything. God bless you for what you do,
and we'll talk again soon and go hurt, Go hurt.
Speaker 8 (26:13):
Thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
I'm Melanie Palario again from the local chapter of the
Canaw Valley Chapter of the Marshall University Alumni Association. That
seventy five game is tomorrow, and of course she said,
they're going to be showing that we are Marshall movie.
By the way, appreciate a texture for catching something there.
We both aired. Melanie said something and then I went
along with it, and we were both incorrect. It was
actually nineteen years ago that the movie came out, was
(26:36):
back in two thousand and six. So appreciate that text.
And again, it is a special time. And I'm a
little bit biased, I guess because I went to Marshall.
My producer Stephanie and I we're actually at Marshall at
the same time. And you know, when you go to
the fountain ceremony, which I've gone to many many times,
and when the fountains turned off as it is every
November and then turned back on in the spring, and
(26:56):
you know, and the ties from that night eight that
people still even though they may have gone on, they
so many of the family members, many of whom weren't
even born there. I mean, we're talking about this was
their grandparents at Perry'share. It would have been, you know,
somebody of a non call or what they find it
very important to come back to campus, not just for
(27:22):
the game tomorrow, but throughout the month of November. Like
I said, it's a it's a month long remembrance at

Going back to the pet donations, we had a texture
that said donation tip. You can purchase blankets, sheets, tiles
and wash costs for the shelter, Goodwill, Union, Mission, Salvation
Army and yard sales. Very good, very good point there,
(28:06):
because sometimes the shelters need these things. But you ain't
got to go spend a whole lot of money on them,
you know what I mean. You can get them wherever
you can. And they're not going to turn anginfolks. You're
not going to look at it and go, yeah, well
we're not taking this. No, they'll they'll take whatever you
can give them. I'll take a little biscuits and gravy

Good morning, all right, we are all excited. It's like
twenty four hours away now right. What time do gates
open tomorrow?
Speaker 14 (31:29):
So it starts at ten am and it goes through
noon and then the winners are announced at twelve fifteen.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
All right, all right, So we had you on last year,
had y on a couple of weeks ago to talk
about this, say, explain the whole concept of the Biscuits
and Gravy Baldemark Capital Market. Somebody either one.
Speaker 15 (31:47):
Of you, I guess it's it's really similar to the
mac and cheese tasting. It's you buy it. You buy
a ticket or a wristband, you come in. We have
fifteen vendors that will be there set up to get
a tasting of various types of biscuits and gravy and
other biscuits or breakfast items and you'll be able to
(32:08):
vote on your favorite.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
And so the thing about the you know, and we
talked about this with the biscuits and gravy thing. I mean,
it seems like such a simple food. It's a comfort food,
but there's so many different ways to make it. And
that's what's that's one of the things that amazed me.
And look, I've eaten my I'm from Logan, Okay, I've
eaten my fair share of biscuits and gravy over the years.
But but it was interesting to me unast year the
(32:32):
different variety, kind of like you mentioned the mac and cheese.
I did the mac and Cheese festival last week too
at Capital Market, and it was interesting to me that
everybody's different take on it.
Speaker 15 (32:40):
Everything's different, I mean each it can be just a
subtle difference or it can be a significant difference. But
the tastes are so so different. And you might think, well,
it's okay, it's biscuits and gravy, but everyone is different. Yeah,
there's you know now the two alike.
Speaker 14 (32:58):
Yeah, and the biscuits matter too. I think it's got
to be a very good biscuit.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
So what makes a good biscuit.
Speaker 14 (33:03):
Not too dry? A little bit of butter in it.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
A little bit, yeah, the gravy for a lot, yeah yeah, yeah.
And this is a fundraiser and talk about where the
funds go.
Speaker 15 (33:14):
So at Southwrist Church, you know, one of our one
of our visions is to be a church that our
community can't live without. And in doing that, we work
with a number of outreach areas and provide and facilitate
various programs. We work with the Women's Addiction Recovery Center
in Charleston. We do a lot with those folks. Uh,
and we'll actually have some ladies from the recovery center
(33:36):
there voluntary working with us tomorrow. We also do what
we call impact schools where we provide food for the
Christmas break where a lot of families when the kids,
the kids get their primary meals at school and so
during the Christmas break, they may not have the food
at home. So we provide food to have meals for
(33:59):
two weeks while they're off. And we're doing that for
at least one hundred and twenty five families.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
And that's more important now, I mean than that it's
ever been.
Speaker 15 (34:08):
We also partner Another important area is the Bread of
Life food pantry in south Ridge that we partner with
Davis Creek Nazarie, And you know, we've seen that grow
from just a few years ago about thirty families a
week through now we're probably approaching eighty a week, so
we're seeing that grow.
Speaker 14 (34:28):
And we're also helping out with the UC football team
this evening. Actually, so what are.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
You doing in the seating with them?
Speaker 15 (34:33):
We seed the football team the Friday nights or the
night before their home games, so we're what's on the
menu tonight is smoke turkey, mac and cheese, green beans,
fresh bread cupcakes.
Speaker 2 (34:45):
So anybody like could just drive by me? Is that
what you're saying?
Speaker 11 (34:49):
Can come on?
Speaker 15 (34:50):
You want to meet the guys. We're also looking to
expand that to to try to do something for each
of the sports teams at the school.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
So okay, well that's good stuff. Again, we're talking with
Atomac Bay and Join a Romeo about the biscuits and
gravy bo Second year? Is that right?
Speaker 14 (35:07):
Second eight?
Speaker 2 (35:07):
Second year? And so how many have you got so far? Didn't?
Speaker 14 (35:11):
So far? In pre sales, we have eighty already and
you have till three pm today to get the discount
of price at pre sale and then tomorrow. You'll just
have to get it at registration.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
Okay, how many different gravy biscuits and gravy combos do
you have?
Speaker 14 (35:23):
I think thirteen out of the fifteen are all biscuits
and gravy.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
Okay, yes, is one of the other two.

like a nationwide, well at least the statewide I think
are doing it other Toyota, other Toyotas, if you will,
are doing it nationwide as well, just to try to
you know, thank veterans for everything that they have done
for us. And so again, go go call our text line.

seen it in other counties as well. So we had

you think about a piece of chewing gum, probably doesn't
(45:22):
weigh all that much. Fifteen pounds of chewing gum. It's
a five point two million dollar renovation for the It's
highlighted about the new seats, but it's not just the
new seats. There's a lot more to it than that.
So we got a story posted about it at at

that's not good man. Well it's I'm fifty five. It's

you chewing up?
Speaker 12 (46:32):
No?
Speaker 5 (46:33):
No, good for you. I couldn't do that. I don't
know something about I just said, I'm not going.
Speaker 2 (46:38):
To do that. I'm a weird guy. Teacher, You're unique.
I could tell you. I could. I can tell you
things I could tell you. I blew Dave Weekly's mind
a couple of months ago. I had him on the
air doing our little cross talk segment there and uh I,
somehow the subject of of shrimp tales came up, and
(46:59):
I said, I eat the whole thing. I ate the
tales in all. I mean, why would you why that's
what they make diet pills out of out here tilS?
Why would you not? I also eat the peanut shells too,
cancels out the calories there you peanuts shells? Jeez, what
can I say, all right, what you got on the
show to day man? So coming up?
Speaker 5 (47:17):
Of course, it's eleven thirty today at Steam Release, right,
it's Friday. Chris Steierwaldt joins us, We're going to try
to make sense at eleven oh six of everything that's
went on this week. How important were these elections? Were
there other variables in Virginia, New Jersey, these blue states
because you know what, news flash, blue states vote blue,
but all of these other variables, right, You had a
(47:39):
socialist elected in New York City. You had these text
messages going back and forth in Virginia which people didn't
seem to care about. But you also had a lot
of government workers who haven't worked. Maybe they were voting
against that. Some of the other states though, Georgia and
the others. You know, what does it all mean and
what if any really matter? If anything?
Speaker 2 (47:56):
So, I don't know what it means a whole lot
to West Virginia. And I'll say this, I've been called
to the carpet is you probably have two a couple
of times because I've talked about this, and I've talked
about some of those areas in some of these states
that that went blue. Yeah, and people have said I
got called fake news for saying that. That's that's very true.
Some of those counties that were red counties voted blue.
(48:18):
I got called out. That's a that's a fact. Yeah,
that's people from Atlanta. I mean these counties are nowhere
near nowhere in Atlanta, nowhere, So you can't tell me
it's an urban thing that far. George is talking Gwinnette
County here people, I'm talking North Georgia, South Georgia. You
know these areas that are rural areas. Uh that traditionally
