is we were just having a conversation Chris Lawrence and

having this conversation about how those of us that wear
headphones are and have done it for some time like
we have, are mostly death. And then off the microphone
and there's nothing there. My god, it just happened. We're

here to talk a little high school football. Chris, good morning, morning,
and welcome to the show. Hey do man, I'm doing well,
are you? Are you about half in a tree stand

(02:25):
somewhere right now?

Speaker 4 (02:26):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Well, I'll be there next week, all right, But I
mean your mind is there right?

Speaker 5 (02:31):
No?

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Okay, Now my mind is on how I'm going to
get from here to Jefferson with the limited amount of
time I've got to get there, and it's going to
be raining, it's going to be right, So that's that's
my concern. And then to get back here tomorrow to
do Westreet outdoors. Yeah, so anybody can do it. You can't, well,
we'll find a way.

Speaker 5 (02:48):
For all right.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
So we got you, guys, got Jefferson and gw tonight.
How long a trip up is that I've been there,
But how long a trip is? According to Google Maps
it's four and a half hours. I think it's more
like five and a half in factor in the rain,
and with the rain, it'll probably be a little more
than that. So Aaron and I are going to try
to leave around twelve thirty, hopefully to get there by
six thirty for kickoff. So talk about this matchup, Well,

(03:11):
it is a rematch of the game they played on
October eleventh when the weather was fantastic. Yeah, that was
a Saturday afternoon game which I called that one as well.
We had it on WCHS and that was a back
and forth battle that GW got down a couple of scores,
came back and went all the way down and scored
with only like a couple of seconds left. They were

(03:35):
lining up to go for the extra point send it
into overtime, but Jefferson committed two penalties, and after those
two penalties and two half the distance to the goals,
the GW coaching staff managed to tuck Steve Edwards Junior
into going for two and he I don't think he
really wanted to do it, but he did agree, and

(03:56):
they went for two and they didn't get it, and
it was a one point loss. Were the Patriots, and
arguably it was where Jefferson's season jump started because they
haven't lost, they haven't lost since, they've won every game
since they've got They beat g W, and they beat
they beat some pretty stiff competition over in neighboring Virginia
as well, but they had a pretty front loaded schedule
to begin with with Martinsburg and a couple of teams

(04:18):
from Virginia that are perennial powerhouses there, so it was
a rough start for them. But they are definitely cooking now.
So it'll be interesting to see if GW can go
over there and return the favor in their house like
they did here on the Hill. All right, it should
be a great one. What times coverage, We'll begin at
six point thirty, possibly a little later if we get
there late, but kickoff is at seven o'clock and we'll we'll, we'll,

(04:40):
we'll definitely be there by that. And what we're hoping
in all these games is is that we're hoping for
rain and not lightning. You know, we play in the rain.
Lightning it's a different story. Yeah, hopefully we're to the
point in the year that it's there will be no lightning.
But two weeks ago that wasn't the case. In the
case at all. What you get on the West Virginia
Outdoors tomorrow, well, it is the last Saturday before buck season,
and always bring in the Natural Resources Police and we

(05:02):
talk a little bit about game laws and what they
will be doing during the buck season when things open
up on Monday, So we'll talk about that, and also
an update on the state of Ohio has now officially
lowered the buck limit in those three counties along the
Ohio River that were hit hard by EHD earlier in
the year, and they've lowered that bag limit from three

(05:24):
to one. And we'll talk to an Ohio conservation officer
about the decision there and what that means for those
hunters across the river in those counties of Ohio. All right, Chris,
be safe and have a good time next week. We'll
talk to you next I guess a week from Monday. Yeah,
you'll be back with it exactly. Thanks well after tomorrow morning,
Chris Lawrence. Thanks a lot, man, friendship. We do want

(05:46):

on time, right on budget. Visit Jarret Dasconstruction dot com.

Bragg is here and you are you got tomorrow afternoon?

Speaker 6 (06:14):
Right?

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Yeah? Yeah, Matt and I making the trip. Four o'clock
tomorrow is kickoff between Herbert Hoover and Princeton down at
Honeycutt Stadium in Princeton. Interesting game Princeton's lost since the
start of the twenty twenty four seasons. So last year.
Princeton's lost one game to Herbert Hoover last year in
the Class Trip A semi finals at the same venue
down in Princeton. A little bit different look from Herbert

(06:35):
Hoover this year, but that's for the most part, the
same Princeton team that they went on that run last year.
They're really really good. They got a player named Brad Mosser.
He's listed as a wide receiver. He does a little
bit of everything. He's scored seventeen rushing touchdowns, He's caught
I think eight or nine receiving touchdowns. He's thrown a
few passes. One of those guys is going to be
in the conversation for the Kennedy Award as the State

(06:56):
Player of the year. He's the big gun for this
Princeton team. But they've got guys all that you got
to keep an eye on. Herbert Hoover's coming in playing
some good ball. But the two games they've lost this season,
dave have been games where they lost the match up
up front in the trenches. So I think that's if
you're looking for a place to split hairs, a place
where this game could hinge on. Look up, look up front,
because if Hoover's getting beat up front, it could be

(07:16):
a long day for the Huskies. Now if they can
hold their own up there, look out. Coming into this
game last year, it was a similar conversation, Well can
Hoover handle the pressure from Princeton. They did. They ran
for almost three hundred yards last year. Interesting matchup, Like
I said, a little bit different Herbert Hoover team Princeton
wants a little bit of revenge. But man, this time
of year, these games are fun. There's a little bit
of history behind it. I'm looking forward to.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
You know.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
One of the things that's interesting to me about Princeton,
And I'm kind of a uniform geek. Is that anytime
you see a team with the Tigers in the title,
generally speaking college football, even baseball, whatever, there's a little
bit of orange or something there. But they go with
the blue Tigers.

Speaker 7 (07:49):
They do.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
They go with the blue Tigers look. Sometimes they'll have
a little accent in orange. I don't not so much
on the football uniforms. You see the baseball basketball uniforms,
but I like they go with the Cincinnati Bengals Tiger
Tigers stripe helmet in blue and white and black. It's
a cool look. It's a very cool look. Now you
guys a run the air. What time tomorrow? Four o'clock
tomorrow is when kickoff is? And I believe we're doing
that on ninety six to one and WHS. So we'll

(08:12):
be right at four o'clock bringing in from honeycut Staium.
Should be a fun one, all right. So what's State
doing this weekend? West Virginia State. State's off. They're done.
They're done the regular season finish. They did not make
the playoffs. It was a great season for State. Came
up just a little bit short in the last couple
of weeks. But I think if you told the folks
down and institute, hey, you're going to go into the
final two games with everything in front of you. Win

(08:32):
those and you win the league. I think that's a
pretty good year for West Virginia State. They seem to
be building in the right direction. There's a lot of
momentum with that program. John Pennington's got a good thing
going down there. That's another program I'm excited to see
grow over the next few years. Okay, now, we will
not be doing a local show on next Friday and
Black Friday. The network show will be here, but not
the local show. So if when Hoover wins short tonight,

(08:55):
you will get next week off. I'm just letting you know. Okay,
I appreciate it. They're playing for a champion and ship.
Then I'll see you into all right. Yeah, that's what
we'll just plan on that. We'll see you here in
two weeks. All right, it sounds good, Tom Bragg. Appreciate it, man,
And don't forget after the game stick around for Fred
Persinger and Dave Jack lind and the crew with high
school game nights right after the game on Metro News.
So Dave Island show in five eighty Live is Bronsho

Let us transition as we do every Friday or at
this time to talk to our good friend Angie Gillenwater
from the Canaw Charleston Humaine Association with this week's Adopt
Me Please Pet of the Week and g good morning
to welcome to the show.

Speaker 8 (09:32):
Good morning.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
What are you doing running around Pittsburgh?

Speaker 8 (09:37):
How was actually at a show in Pittsburgh? And I
just loved Pittsburgh.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Oh okay, okay, I didn't well, I didn't know because
last night you knew, you always send me the picture
of our pet, our adopt Me pleach by of the week,
and it's you know, and I didn't get it after
Pappall goes to bed, you know, like at nine or
nine thirty last night, So I didn't get in till later.
And I got it when I woke up this morning.
But you said you're in Pittsburgh. I didn't know whether
because I know you guys have been all over the
country literally doing rescues and things that nature. I wasn't

(10:02):
sure whether it was personal or business. So I just
gave you this.

Speaker 8 (10:06):
Yeah, trust me. If I could, if I would have
picked up a couple of dogs and took him though.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
Well, well you've been on the road I think plenty
this year. Right, let's talk about our adopt me please.
Bet of the Week has always picture posted Dave Allen
Radio on Facebook and also the w c HS Network
Facebook page and at Dave a seventy on X tell
us about Spruce.

Speaker 8 (10:26):
Spruce is a very he has a very sad story.
He was adopted from US as a puppy after originally
being abandoned at the shelter, and his adopters had brought
him back. They didn't really give a reason as to
why they wanted to return him, just that you know,
they did not want him anymore. So Spruce is now

(10:46):
back available for adoption. He's just under a year old
and he's pretty much essentially grown up in the shelter environment.
So he does have a lot of puppy energy and
a lot of puppy behaviors that will need. But our
behaviorist is going to send you home with some homework
to work on.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Those teams homework homework.

Speaker 8 (11:06):
I love that he's already been neutered. He's up to
date on his vaccines. He's great with other dogs. He
loves to play with other high energy dogs. I'm unsure
about cats, but we do know that he does get
a little nervous around children. So if you have really
care yeah, same so if you have kids that are
under the age of ten years old, you probably want

(11:28):
to look at some other dogs we have, just because
small kids and loud noises do make him very nervous.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
Well, and again that's uh, you don't under You don't
know exactly what he's gone through before because there's certain
animals as you know, I mean one of my one
of my cats couldn't care less what happens outside, thunder lightning, fireworks.
He couldn't care less. As a matter of fact, I
thought he was deaf for a while because nothing bothers him.
But you know, the other ones we've had have you know,
been a little bit more sensitive to that. So just

(11:53):
know that he's a beautiful dog. What kind of dog
is he? Any idea in there?

Speaker 8 (11:58):
Yeah, I would say he's a hound mix. He has
like the beagle shaped ears, beagle coloring, but he's really tall,
so he's probably a larger breed hound mix.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
Okay, I do want to mention this. As I said
earlier in talking to Tom and Chris, we're not doing
a local show on Black Friday. The network show will
be on, So we're going to give you next Friday off,
but you are doing an event on Black Friday though,
talk about that.

Speaker 8 (12:19):
I was going to say, I'm going to need next
Friday off. The shelter is going to be open from
noon till midnight, doing it options for free. So if
you you know, get off work late, if you you know,
want to sleep in from the big Thanksgiving dinner, whatever
whatever is going on, We're going to be open until

(12:41):
midnight on Black Friday.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
All right? And I think I saw where that was
sponsored by Moses, Is that right?

Speaker 8 (12:47):
Absolutely? On Saturday, we are going to be at Moses
Toyota from one to five.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
And this is next Saturday, Next Saturday, yes, yes, yes.

Speaker 8 (12:55):
Next Saturday, after a Black Friday. They've invited us out
and we you know, gladly obliged for them sponsoring all
these all the FeAs.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
All right, and that sounds really good. And again you've
got full information available about it over on your Facebook page.
What else is going on at the shelter? What are
you guys. What are you guys needing right now?

Speaker 8 (13:14):
So the usuals wet dog food adopters is a big
one as well. And then if you have any cleating
supplies like bleach gloves, steel wool pads, anything like that,
we're also running pretty low on and we would greatly
appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
Are you guys out and about anywhere this weekend? Are
you just kind of prepared for next weekend?

Speaker 8 (13:32):
H Yeah, we're gonna take off this weekend prepared well deserved.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
Well deserved to get ready for next weekend. Give Okay,
So you're going to open up next Friday, Black Friday.
You'll be open from noon until midnight. In the finally day,
you're going to be out at and Moses Toyota, so
we urge you to go out there. I gotta ask
you when it comes to the Thanksgiving dinner, Angie, what's
your favorite thing on the plate?

Speaker 8 (13:54):
See, I'm a big fan of a sweet potato castrole
or a sweet potato pie.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Okay, me me too, I like I like both of those.
All right, Well, Angie, God bless you for doing what
you guys do. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. We'll give you
next week off and again. That event is happening from
noon to midnight next Friday at the shelter and then
the following day you'll be out at Moses Toyota. Big
shout out to Moses for sponsoring both of those. We
will talk to you again in two weeks. Thanks a lot.

Speaker 8 (14:18):
Sounds good.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
Have a good one you as well again. Spruce is
our adopt me Please put it the week. Picture posted
over at Dave Aland Radio and Facebook. Also the WCCHS
Network Facebook page and at Dave a seventy on X.
Good looking dog looks take a little hound in the dog.
Probably better not to be around small kids because he
seems to be a little bit frightened by a lot

(14:39):
of commotion and loud noise which comes along with small
kids as you well know. So probably, as Angie said,
older kids teenagers probably would be okay. And does love
other playful dogs. They don't know about cats. He is neutered,
he is vaccinated. He is a wonderful dog. And he
was adopted once and for one reason another they brought
him back. But he is a beautiful dog. Spruce is

(15:02):
his name. Bout a year maybe a year or so old.
Picture posted Dave Alan Radio on Facebook and at dave
A seventy on x and also the WHS network page
go let's get Spruce adopted. And as I told you
last week we had Amy Swinehouse was our pig we
were getting adopted last week. Amy Swinehouse, we are very
happy to say, was adopted. Later that day after her

(15:24):
quote unquote appearance on this show, when Angie and the
folks went up to open up the shelter, there was
a line waiting to get Amy Swinehouse. So greatest listeners

nay Man, thanks for having me on. I appreciate it
all right, mister Ballpark. People didn't know that. People didn't
know that Andy, I love I'm loving the hoodie. Man,

(18:55):
I'm ready. I saw that. I'm ready for It's I will.
I was gonna say I woke up to that this morning.
But when I got up and walked to the house
and turned the TV on, there you are wearing. That's
when I thought, I wonder if he'll wear that in
the studio. Answers, Yes, yep, it's that time. Where does
one acquire a multi colored gingerbread hoodie? Well, the key

(19:16):
is you get.

Speaker 11 (19:17):
That first one and then all sorts of different Christmas
stuff follow ye around on your everywhere, your complete digital footprints.
I have a full closet of them now. So I
think I'm getting to the point where I can almost
have one a day for light the night.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
All right, And Jill, you're rocking the Dirty Birds Christmas gif.

Speaker 6 (19:37):
Og from last year?

Speaker 2 (19:39):
Yeah? Are the still available?

Speaker 6 (19:41):
They are? We have a few still available. We didn't
order any new ones for this year, but we do
have new merch and a new sweatshirt too.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Okay, now, and is of course you can always get
that online. Is it available during light that? I do
have somebody manning.

Speaker 6 (19:52):
Works every night. Yep, five o'clock. We're going have someone
in the seam story.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
That's a great and I mean, look, if you're looking
for a great Christmas gift, there you go right there,
because that's what I'm doing.

Speaker 6 (20:00):
If you're my friend and you're expecting a Christmas good
for me, it's going to be Dirty Birds Late the Night.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
Related, So last night was a media night. I was
not able to attend. How did it go last night?
It's kind of a sneak preview last night. It was awesome.
It was awesome.

Speaker 11 (20:12):
I'd say that the systems were tested and you know,
everything just looked absolutely amazing. The feedback was absolutely incredible,
and you know the thing that it's something you can't
necessarily measure, but the energy is just off the charts.
I mean, it is so awesome seeing so many people
so happy.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
Well and ballpark figure no bad pun. I didn't really
intend that. How many people came through the gates last year, oh,
last year, last year, last year, last.

Speaker 11 (20:42):
Year, we were like right around or a little over
one hundred and twenty five thousand.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
That's amazing. And many of those are repeat customers too,
you know, because they because they come back, but some
of them aren't repeat customers. What I meant to say
by that was there's people that like it so much
that they that they go back to or three times.
But then you got a lot of first timers too.
Oh that's what's so cool.

Speaker 11 (20:59):
I mean here and some people talk about how they
come with their kids, then they come one time with
their spouse, then they come with their company, then they'll
come with when they're they have relatives visiting from out
of town.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
I mean, hearing that stuff is so cool.

Speaker 11 (21:11):
But then seeing that we had people come from literally
every County in West Virginia. Literally we had nearly fifty
states represented that. We had a big group from Japan
that enjoyed the heck out of it, and especially now
think about It's funny because it was about half the
time talk about how amazing the lights were and everything.

(21:31):
Half the time talk about Otani, which that has aged amazingly. Yes,
they're both do a terrific still. So yeah, a lot
of cool stuff.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
So what's new this year? Oh, it's awesome.

Speaker 11 (21:42):
So we've got about two or three times as many
rides and activities for kids in the kind of carnival world.
We've got more inflatables than we've ever had. The ice
skating rink is bigger. We've got a stuffy station where
you can make your own stuffed animal.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
We've got that because I saw something on your social
media about that. Explain where that concept came from. Well,
so what we.

Speaker 11 (22:06):
Really wanted was just more things that are interactive and
more things were just more experiences. So having that and
we've got it for nineteen ninety nine, trying to make
it as accessible as possible for people. You know, it's
just one more cool, fun memory that people can have
when they're at the ballparking at late the night. The
one that I'm ridiculously cool. This is kind of almost

(22:27):
from my daughter, but uh, we've got a new cotton
candy machine.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
That is it's ridiculous.

Speaker 11 (22:33):
I mean, it's funny to get geeked out about a
cotton candy machine, but it like what you like. It'th
it's just so neat. And that's what we just again,
you know, I can't say enough. We just wanted to
keep adding more experiences for people.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
And we do want to remind people that it's best
to get your tickets in advance, right, I mean, it's
that's the that's the best way to do it for
everybody involved.

Speaker 11 (22:52):
Absolutely, yeah, I mean it's uh it it definitely saves
you some time. It cuts down on some time just
waiting for the lines because until we get a bigger
box office built, you know, it's it's a great thing
to see. Actually, but haven't been able to get your
tickets online? I recommend dirty birds Baseball dot com. All
of the information is right there and makes it nice

(23:14):
and efficient for you.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
So what seems to be the more popular events, give
me two or three every year that people say, oh
and again you change it every year. That's one of
the things. I love it, but it's not the same
old thing every year. But maybe going back to last year,
what was the one that you think you got the
most buzz on last year? One or two? Well, so,
I mean ice skating rink for sure. Yeah, I mean
that's one of those things. It is. It like to

(23:37):
answer every question. It is real ice.

Speaker 11 (23:39):
I'll be honest, I didn't even know there was like
a fake ice that much, but and now all I
hear about that world is just how not fun it is.
So the fact that we have real ice twenty four
to seven for the next month and.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
A half, how does that work? Guys?

Speaker 11 (23:52):
We've got a giant chiller out and above the right
center field wall that is keeping that baby frozen on stop,
so it's and then we've got this zamboni. We've got
an awesome crew and people that are always maintaining it
and working it. And we've got a bunch of ice
skating helper systems where people that my seven year old

(24:13):
son was using it last night. He's never skated before,
but he was able to be out on the rink
with this helper taking him around. So you do not
need to be training for the Olympics to be able
to enjoy it. And then the other one too is
still it's the best one. And this was this was
Ben was so adam about this since before day one
was the Ferris Wheel, and he was so right because

(24:34):
it is just such a visual And then it is
so cool seeing people's photos that they post from up
the up on top because it's always a different time
of day, different lights are on in the city, this
different angle and so forth and so on.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
It is it's just awesome. What's the deal with the
Ferris Wheel. Is this is something you just liked as
a kid or what?

Speaker 12 (24:53):
Ben?

Speaker 5 (24:54):
No, I just want I wanted people to be able
to see it from the interstate. Yeah, I want to.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
That's the way to do it.

Speaker 5 (24:58):
As they're coming in. I mean you can see it
a quarter mile to a half a mile out the
Ferris Whale, and then of course as you get closer
there's like the glow you know that you can see
for many, many miles, probably all the way to the moon.
But it is if you haven't seen two and a
half million lights in person, you and have to come
check this out. It is incredible and they are always

(25:19):
adding new features, new things. Last night was the first
time I'd seen it in the dark. I've been over
several times during the day as they were setting up,
but every time I go there, I'm just just completely
in awe.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
And I saw several post guys some people on social
media last night that had attended, you know, the thing
last night to kind of the sneak sneak preview, and
it looked awesome. I mean, it really really did.

Speaker 5 (25:42):
Yeah, they had a business after hours event there, and
then we had the media night, and then we had
just a couple extra tickets to go out to friends
and family just to kind of test the systems, make
sure everything's working, make sure we didn't pop a bulb.
Then the whole thing go down last night, so they
had it all set up. I know that Andy and
this team been working very hard on it, and I
think they were out till one point thirty or two

(26:03):
in the morning getting it ready.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
I mean, when you see the finished product, you think, wow,
this is awesome. But when you get actually in there
and and see how what it takes to pull this
thing off, it's truly amazing.

Speaker 5 (26:16):
My favorite part I like watching people come in because
they're just they're just in awe of it. And then
I like watching parents trying to get their kids to leave.

Speaker 2 (26:26):
It's hilarious to me as somebody who's got older kids.

Speaker 5 (26:30):
Yeah, yeah, I don't have to do that now, So
I just kind of stand there and watch them trying
to drag the kids out. You know, it's close to
the closing time and they don't want to leave. But
it's it's one of those things that first of all,
get your tickets in advance. You want to spend your
time in the park, not standing in line. And I
try try to get there early, and there's there's.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
Lots to do. What time does it open? Every day?

Speaker 11 (26:52):
Opens up every day every day at five five. Sunday
through Thursday it's oh, we're open until nine pm, and
on Saturday it's ten pm. And then we're open from
today through January first, every day except for.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
Christmas, except for Christmas AD, so you'll be there Christmas Eve. Yeah,
And people think that's kind of odd that. I think
in my in my hometown, we had a Christmas in
the park. They still do a kount of event, and
people say, well, who wants to go down there on
Christmas Eve? Christmas Eve was the busiest night for actually, no,
I take that back down there. For theirs, the first
night it was open, okay, was after that. The second

(27:27):
busiest night was Christmas Eve. Because every family's got their
own traditions.

Speaker 5 (27:31):
Well, and you've got family in from out of town.
So if you've got to go coming in from out
of town, make sure you go over, you know around
Thanksgiving or after Thanksgiving or Christmas time, make sure you
take them and show them the lights. I think they're
going to be, Uh, they're going to be very pleased.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
What kind of things are you anticipating for, like groups
when they come in? I mean, because I know you
have groups that come in, whether it's church groups or
it's you know, people coming in from out of town.
There's there's a there's a I learned this. There is
a culture of people kind of like with amusement parks
who just like to go ride roller coasters. There's some
of these just that just live to go look at
Christmas lights. And you've seen a lot of those Ben

(28:05):
you and I talked to him. We love those people. Yes,
that's what they love.

Speaker 5 (28:08):
That's our crew.

Speaker 2 (28:09):
What kind of things do you have going on if
somebody wants to have a a group out and maybe
they want to get to go we want to bring
all our employees over for a Christmas party or something
like that.

Speaker 11 (28:17):
We do that a bunch, and I mean that's something
that we're really trying to focus on so that we
can provide options to other companies, people and groups in
the community. So we've got a cool partnership with a
Bruises this year, our downstore downstairs neighbor. Uh So they're
one of the catering options for if someone wants to
cater and wants food.

Speaker 2 (28:36):
We've got an awesome new menu this year.

Speaker 11 (28:38):
I mean we've got I needed to cut myself off
of the Thanksgiving sliders last night.

Speaker 2 (28:44):
Thanksgiving slider, Yes, exactly, do tell So it's awesome. I
mean it is.

Speaker 11 (28:49):
It's turkey graving and gravy and even a little chicken
broth on there, but just sliders right at the concession stand.
So I mean it is absolutely awesome. We've got to
reously I cannot wait. I mean this is going to
be almost dangerous of hot chocolate with dippin' dots, So
that's gonna be awesome.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
So there's all sorts of options I get the idea
that Soelango designed the menu.

Speaker 5 (29:11):
Yeah, it's all about the health. Anytime you put gravy
on the sandwich. What really, you're just wanting to keep
it under one hundred galleries drink a dit coke with.

Speaker 11 (29:20):
So we've got a lot, We've got a ton of
options that wide range, whether it's a group discount for
people on the ticket side, or we've got spaces, we've
got opportunities, we've got catering. We try and make it
as customizable as possible because so many people do like
to come out, whether it is with their family around
the holidays and or with their company, with their club,

(29:41):
with their church, with their little league.

Speaker 5 (29:43):
I mean a lot of people don't know they have
a lot of They have suites there that they can
rent out for corporate events. So if you want to
do a corporate Christmas party or.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
I'd tell you probably need to hurry up on that though.

Speaker 5 (29:51):
Yeah, you need to book it. You just get on
their website and you get a hold of them and
they can help you out. But you get tickets and
you know, if it later in the season and it's cold,
you've got the sweet to go in to keep warm.
So you go out, you see the lights come in. Uh,
that's the way we do it, you know, we I will.
We've got a suite over there, and then we just
go out, check out the lights, come back in, warm up,

(30:14):
drink some hot chocolate head exactly, and then go back out.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
I don't we don't want to, you know, put a
quote unquote cloud over things. But there's rain in the
forecast tonight, but we're still a go, right, So.

Speaker 11 (30:24):
I mean, that's that's the nature of this will be
my it's about to be my twenty second baseball season
in twenty six and so my whole life has been
outdoor events. So I have had plenty of rain, snow,
tornado warnings, you name it, and you're.

Speaker 2 (30:40):
Gonna and then when did you get into late November
and December? I mean, it's a it's a fickle month.

Speaker 11 (30:46):
I mean, you know, so, I mean, and you know
April showers bring my flowers in baseball, and you know
all of it. But you know, it might rain, it
might not, but it's gonna be awesome and there will
always be those beautiful days as well. And we've got
a great plan for everything.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
All right. We'll have you on a couple more times
between now, and because I know Jill, you and I
talk a lot that there's some special nights being planned
as well, like sinsory Nights and things of that age.

Speaker 6 (31:08):
Yeah, always community nights, sinsory Nights, Sinsory nights. This year
we're gonna have four of them. They are the first
four Tuesdays in December. We have sensory friendly bags that
we're giving away that you can use if you start
to get over stimulated. We have a sensory shed that's
going to make its debut for late the Night. So
a lot of things coming up.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
And how many of those there's four of those, which
is in the sensory Nay.

Speaker 6 (31:31):
Four starting on December second, and then every Tuesday until Christmas.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
And somebody send a textures did you get awesome photographs
with rainfalling and the lights reflecting on it? So there
you go, making the most of a positive, of making
a positive out of a negative.

Speaker 6 (31:43):
A right, exactly. I know you guys own ponshows and raincoats.
You can still come out in way.

Speaker 2 (31:46):
Exactly, all right? All right, So it all starts tonight
and it runs every night through January first, except for
Christmas nights a angle light. Thank guys, I appreciate you
being here. We'll see you over there. We'll have you
on a couple more times between now and then. Okay,
thanks a lot day, appreciate it, all right, guys, it

had that early snow. No, we literally decorate on October
thirty one.

Speaker 2 (32:31):

Speaker 5 (36:13):
We all do that.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
Actually, at nine o'clock, got to go downstairs and we
have it. It's on the V one hundred Facebook page.
It was Facebook lived and you can go back and
take a look at it. We had a studio full
of people down there when we flipped the switch. Good stuff, man.

Speaker 12 (36:26):
Yeah, it's always hectic. I mean, people don't understand what
goes into this. We were talking off air, like we started.
I started in September looking at music and we call
it imaging the voice guy.

Speaker 2 (36:38):
All of that.

Speaker 12 (36:39):
I started in September to be ready for November twenty
first this year. So it's it's a couple of months
in the making, all right.

Speaker 2 (36:45):
So The biggest question that you're probably getting and on
social media, and I'm going to give you a chance
to address it now, is why so early? Why so early?

Speaker 12 (36:52):
So I said this to somebody this week because that's
the question everybody else that so Thanksgiving us thirst day
and everybody's off this week. When I say everybody this
coming week, schools, schools are not ready. No, yeah, we're here,
we're here, but this is the weekend people start shopping,
They're going to the store, they maybe they're decorating for

(37:14):
family coming in. This is kind of the unofficial when
everybody starts to get ready for Christmas.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
Well, and that's when we did our turkey drop yesterday.
There's actual research that shows because when Rob Real talked
about that, So why do you do it on the Thursday,
a week away from Thanksgiving?

Speaker 6 (37:28):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
One was because with Union Mission they prepare all the
boxes on Saturday. But number two, it is proven that
that is the that's the best time. This when even
people that aren't contributing to like we were yesterday with
Union Mission, that's when. And trust me, I live in
Tay's Valley, all right. I got off the exit yesterday
thirty minutes. It took me. Uh and it was mainly
people pulling into Kroger yesterday.

Speaker 12 (37:48):
So yeah, well and I mean two Thanksgiving is later
this year. Well I think it was last year too,
So really we're we're going to be playing Christmas for
a month and four days.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
So it's a lot of Christmas. It is a lot
of Christmas. So how do you choose what Christmas music?

Speaker 12 (38:04):
Lots and lots of research, We look at national data.
Fun fact. Mariah Carey, you know how we thought she
was the Queen of Christmas. I mean she's still kind
of is. That's what we kicked the hour off with
this morning, But she actually is lower on the charts
this year. She's not in the top ten. She's like
number forty forty five. So it's interesting, is she on
a five year cycle? I remember, because I'm old. I

(38:27):
remember when that song came out. It was released in Christmas.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
It was either the Christmas of ninety three about to
become ninety four, Okay. I remember playing that song when
it was new, and there was something about that song
when it came in and I'm not saying I'm you know,
I was a predictor of what was going to happen.
It was going to be big two hundred years from now.
But I remember playing that song when it came in
and I thought, there's something about this song, and I

(38:54):
didn't know that two hundred years later we're so going
to be playing it. But it's people, it's a classic.
It's a semple. Yeah, it's become right up there with
the White Christmas. And I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus
and so on and sover. All Right, so you said
she's kind of been dethrone. What are some of the
top research based Christmas songs? I was hoping you wouldn't

(39:14):
ask me that to.

Speaker 12 (39:15):
Give me all of them, and just a couple that
ron At Slayer Eyed White Christmas is up there always
and Wham Last Christmas. So those have kind of been
in the top for years.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
Are people, because you know, I'm so wofully out of
touch and old, I don't listen to a whole lot
of new music, But are people still releasing Christmas songs?
I mean, like the top artists of the day, because
that was always a thing. I mean, I remember when
a very special Christmas album came out in nineteen eighty seven,
and it was a fundraiser, I think for special Olympics
and you had. They included Bob Seger, Little Drummer Boy,

(39:47):
Run DMC, My Favorite Christmas and Hollis and all those.
But are artists still new artists? Are they still releasing Christmas?

Speaker 12 (39:54):
Yes, Jimmy Fallon, who's not an artist, he has a
Christmas lots of Christmas songs. Jonas there's just dropped a
Christmas album, Christmas Special, and Megan Trainer has some songs
a less Yakara. So yeah, they're putting out new Christmas
songs and when I say new Christmas songs, renditions of classics.

Speaker 2 (40:13):
Yeah, and new stuff too well, because by and large
there's like ten Christmas absolutely yeah, and it's fun to
different period, right. Yeah. I know you're going to find
this very hard to believe listeners and logan. I tend
to like them more off the wall stuff, Okay, find
you know, you know, Merry Christmas from the Family, Okay,
because I can relate. What about Bob Rivers, the Twelve
Pains of Christmas, Pains of Christmas on Twisted Sisters Christmas

(40:36):
album that they not that years again, Okay, we'll go listen, Well, listen,
I don't want you to play it. Okay, we'll say
that for the we'll save that stuff for the for
the all right. We had a text here with some requests.

Speaker 12 (40:46):
Oh my gosh, three oh four, three four, Well, I'm
gonna give my number three oh four, three four five
eight one zero zero.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
All right. So Rod Stewart and Dolly Parsons, maybe it's
cold out, Dolly Parton, maybe it's cold out? Is it
politically correct? Can we play that song? Weegind? Yeah? Okay,
just asking. Uh, I may be pronouncing this wrong, Asalin
debson the gift never heard of it. Okay, all right,
we'll look into it. Well, Barry Manilow, because it's Christmas.
Roy Orbison, pretty paper about that one. That's a good one,

(41:13):
written by Willie Nelson. Okay, f y the newer song
says the text from the last couple of years. Not popular.
They seem to play several times a day. And that's
a retlative that you got research that would say otherwise.

Speaker 12 (41:24):
Right, I've got the receipts as the kids say.

Speaker 2 (41:27):
Is that what the kids say? Thinks six SIPs? I don't, yeah,
don't get a started on that, but you know, and
I just think it's when when you started on the
social media for V one hundred announcing you were going
to do this. It's mixed. It's mixed, and that's what
you's okay, and that's what you get because not everybody
and and think about your own Christmas traditions in your family, right,

(41:47):
not everybody does things the same way, and that's okay,
and we'll still be here and still be here, all right.
Did you a chance to go over to the preview
of Yes last Night and your take on Light to Night?

Speaker 1 (41:58):
It's awesome.

Speaker 12 (41:59):
There's a video I'll post out on the V one
hundred Facebook of us of me and Jill plugging in
the lights. Okay, that will be on the on the
socials here in a bit.

Speaker 2 (42:08):
Somebody said a text here and said, the Jonas brothers
have a Christmas movie they do.

Speaker 12 (42:11):
Yeah, I think it's on Hulu maybe, okay, Netflix, I
have to look into that.

Speaker 2 (42:15):
And you're going to play the Christmas music until when
through Christmas Day, see midnight. That is always a big
thing because stations doing all Christmas music is a relatively
new thing, right. It used to be it was just
a couple of songs here there, and that's what some
of our other stations in the building do the little
you know, a couple here here and there. But flipping

(42:38):
the format to all Christmas is a relatively new thing,
last ten to fifteen years or so. And the big
question is always when do you start it and when
do you end it? And there's to me, there's no
wrong answer.

Speaker 12 (42:52):
But knowing me, my family, friends, their family, we kind
of wrapped things up on the twenty fifth, So twenty
six back to and I may throw a Christmas song
in here or there on the twenty sixth.

Speaker 2 (43:06):
Well, what day's Christmas on there? It's a Thursday. It's
a Thursday. Okay, So a lot of people, I'm gonna
good and predict now, a lot of people will be
taking that Friday off, you know, for a long weekend.
So the Christmas is you know, Christmas stuff will actually
continue probably for the weekend.

Speaker 4 (43:18):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (43:19):
And then then we get ready for you know, the
snow and nastiness that comes with January. Well hopefully we
have some of that in December. While Christmas music song
You're a snow guy, I mean we're in West Virginia,
I know, but especially where you're from. Absolutely, I mean
it's a different level up there in the area and
look the panhandle where you're front.

Speaker 12 (43:34):
Well, and when I moved here, I've lived up at
Eagle View on the on the Big Mountain, and people
here were like, how are you gonna And I'm like,
I live in West Virginia.

Speaker 2 (43:41):
I know how to drive in snow. So h Logan
Scott's the Christmas music is underway. So Mariah Carey was
the first Christmas song you played this morning? What was
the second?

Speaker 12 (43:49):
You know, Trans Siberian Orchestra Christmas Eve? Oh, I love Orchestrah.
That's some That's some good stuff right there.

Speaker 2 (43:56):
Yeah. And that was a great show last year too. Yeah. Yeah,
they're not coming back to char to Charleston or not.
It's not this unfortunately, Logans Scott, get upstairs and do

Seasons are changing, the kids are back in school, and
cooler weather is on the way. But one thing that
always remains consistent is the car buying experience at Walker
Chevrolet in Nitru. You see, that's because Gene and Ryan
built their business the old fashion way by making friends.
There are no gimmicker games in Walker, just honest, fair deals,
and the process at Walker is remarkably simple. They help

(45:02):
you find a vehicle that you love and a deal
that makes you smile. And don't forget, Walker is still
buying cars too now. All makes and models are welcome,
and they'll give you a top dollar for it, even
if you plan to buy somewhere else. But why would you?
You know, it's good to know that in a world
full of constant change. There are some things that remain
consistent and that some car dealers still believe in.

Speaker 2 (45:22):
Treating you like a friend.

On Monday Show, Danny Jones is here. Speaking of Danny Jones,
I finished reading his book last night. It's really good.
And tomorrow he's going to be doing a signing at

(48:37):
Taylor Books in Charleston starting at one thirty. If you
want to get a copy, of course, you can get
one tomorrow with Danny at Taylor. You can also visit
wvbookc dot com, WV bookco dot com are also available
at Capitol Market and Eggplants, which is on Bridge Road.
It's a really, really good book and if you get

(48:59):
an opportunity, pick up a copy. And as I said,
Danny brought me in a copy on the show. He's
with me every Monday and I read a little bit
every night. Finished the book last night. It's really, really
a good book, and it goes all over Danny's life
from his childhood his teenage years. But there's also a
lot of more modern stuff as well. You get Danny,

(49:20):
you get Danny Jones, the sheriff, you get Danny Jones,
the actor, Danny Jones, the government you know, state government official,
Danny Jones, the bartender, Danny Jones, the restaurant tour. Of course,
the mayor spends a lot of time talking about a
couple of big events, like the building of the ballpark,
the expansion of the coliseum and convention center, the pension,

(49:42):
the problems that they had with the pension plan in Charleston,
and things of that nature, of the water crisis, the
controversy of the needle exchange, radio career. It's really really
a great book. If you get an opportunity, pick up
a copy, and Danny's going to be doing a book
signing tomorrow with Taylor Books. You can also get it
at Capit Market an Eggplant on Bridge Road. And if
you look at the book very very closely, all right,

(50:07):
there is a picture. There's a lot of pictures in
the book two of Danny over the years and his
family and so on and so forth. If if you
look very closely, there is a picture of Danny inside
Danny's barbecue stand. One of his sons is in the picture.
You can just see my arm just a little bit.
It's just as it's a little bit of my shirt sleeve.

(50:27):
Because if you were called when Danny closed the barbecue
stand the first time around, we actually did this show
live from his place and it was kind of a
tribute to Danny. We had political officials in, we had
this longtime friends that came in to just sit on
the show. But if you look very closely, you can
see the corner of my arm. I didn't get a
mention in the book, but that's okay. I got a

(50:48):
picture of my arm. But eight Island Show in five
