Patty Swango and Anthony Romeo. Good mornings, folks, Welcome to
the show. Patty will start with.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
Morning, how are you.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
I am doing fine. And I found out, Patty, that
you and I have something in common. You are your
family is originally from Logan.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
Yes, sir, they are.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
But you escaped right.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
I think my dad and mother escaped before I was born.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
Okay, all right, all right, we were talking about that
in the green room. And and Anthony, you know when
Ron Hughes, the Colonel set up the interview with us,
he said it was Tony. You went by Tony, and
I had every Tony Romo reference, ye being a cowboy fan,
every Tony Romo reference that I could. And then I

(03:16):
come in you say you prefer Anthony. So well there
you go.

Speaker 6 (03:19):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
Right, that's all good. It's all good. So let's talk
about the parade, Patty or Anthony, the one of you
want to just step in and give us all the
details and then we'll break it down from there.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
All right.

Speaker 7 (03:28):
The parade is Saturday, three pm. Lineup is two o'clock.
One most important thing, we are not going down Main Street. Okay,
we have changed the rat Oh well, so if you
go to Main Street to watch the parade, it's not
coming this yeason.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
Well, hopefully you'll be able to look over and see
this line of yeah, and.

Speaker 7 (03:51):
We are promoting it, and I have someone who's doing
Facebook and letting everyone know. Now if they read it,
I don't know, but that's that's the important thing.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Well, hopefully you know people kind of and I've driven
enough parades in my life to know that people you're
you just follow the people in front of you. So
hopefully nobody decides to go rogue and go down that
way anyway. Why why the change? Was there a reason?

Speaker 7 (04:14):
The chamber had an idea and we want to see
if it'll work to take care of some of the.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Lax and spaces in between individuals.

Speaker 8 (04:24):
Yeah, there were several lulls in the periods of past
that we're trying to solve. Okay, And by moving it
all the way down sixth Avenue, that's going up the
hill and down Main Street, you know, not doing that
will solve those laws, okay.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
Yeah, and that that is an issue in parades sometimes,
and we keep it moving, keep it moving because people
want to pose for pictures and the whole deal. And
that's understandable.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
That's that's true.

Speaker 7 (04:47):
And then we have a radio station in St. Albans
and he likes to interview the individuals as they go
by his station there.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
So it does.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
Good old buzz browning.

Speaker 7 (04:59):
Yeah, yes, I'm supposed to say hello to you. But
and then they have to climb that hill and that's
and when you're over thirty nine, it's hard to do.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
Yeah. Well, how would you know about being over thirty nine?

Speaker 3 (05:10):
That's exactly right.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
Yeah, you wouldn't know anything about that or we're talking
about the Saint August Christmas Parade. So if you're in
the parade lineup, is it what time?

Speaker 3 (05:19):
The line you start at two o'clock.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
Yeah, And let me tell you, if you've never been
in the parade before, I would urge you to one
hundred percent plan on being there at two because it's
one of the more interesting parades in the way. And
it's not a bad thing, guys, it's just interesting the
way it is because when you're driving like a float
or we're driving station vehicles and we're driving up through there,
and it's like you just got to keep going all

(05:43):
the way to the end through this residential neighborhood to
get where you need to be to then get back
in line again. Yeah, and so allow yourself a little
extra time.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (05:51):
We encourage folks to enter into the parade lineup at
Walnut and Washington in Saint Albans, So that puts you
right in the proper lineup for the parade, so versus
trying to cut in at Park Street and down the Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
So, and people that have been in that parade and
know that. But however, there's always new people that don't
prade for the first time. Approximately, just go back the
last couple of years, how many how many entries have
you had in the parade?

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Roughly close to eighty okay, sometimes.

Speaker 4 (06:18):
More, looking about the same for this year.

Speaker 7 (06:21):
Yes, sir, And we do have a lot of people
who do just show up. They don't know their schedule.
There's some ball tournaments going on and people don't know
if they can come because to video who wins the game.
So that's that's okay. If somebody wants to be in
the parade, we're going to let them be there.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
Okay. But if they but it probably would be and
I completely understand what you're saying, Patty, but it probably
would be better if people do know that they let
you know.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
They're coming, right, It does help, Yes, that does.

Speaker 4 (06:49):
And how do they do that? Where do they need to?

Speaker 3 (06:51):
You go to the Saint Elvan's website.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
It is am I sensing a joke here, but you
know something.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
That's that's just a private.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
Well we want to hear.

Speaker 8 (07:01):
I'm always on edge when she gives out the website. Okay,
well I just find she has it down.

Speaker 6 (07:06):
Pat Now.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
Right here we go, no pressure, Patty.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
That's right.

Speaker 7 (07:11):
It is Saint Albans w v dot com forward slash
Christmas and that will tell you everything that's going on
and where you can register various events.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
I want to see you do that three more times.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
I can do that.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
I know you can. I know you're talking about this.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
He's worried. I can see them.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
He was sitting there like giving you the eye there.
But you nailed it. You nailed it purposely did. And
one of the great things I like about these parades
like this is, of course everybody loves the parade, and
they love Santa, and they love the bands and all
the stuff that comes with it. But it also puts
a spotlight on the communities as well, and this one
because every parade is different as far as the different
routes or whatever. As you said, now you're not going

(07:53):
down Old Maine this year, but you are, but you're
kind of going around it. But there's a lot of
exciting things going on down there that people while they're
in town. We hope people don't just show up for
the parade and go home. We'd like for them to
visit some of the shops and stuff down there.

Speaker 8 (08:06):
There's I mean, you would be amazed at how the
uniqueness in our shops and restaurants in Saint Albans. You
got some good ones, and you know, it's a great
opportunity to you know, explore those shops and restaurants as
you're there for the parade, both this weekend as far
as starting out Friday even into Saturday.

Speaker 6 (08:23):
So you know, we welcome that. We welcome you to.

Speaker 8 (08:25):
Explore our shops and restaurants and experience St. Albans this weekend,
all right, And.

Speaker 4 (08:30):
Again it's I mean, you got so many and I
frequently have the Mayor on, I have other people from
Saying Albans from time to time. It's so many. As
you said, it's a good way to put in Anthony
and some really really nice unique shops down there and
great places to eat. I mean, it's always been a
tradition in years past that the folks from the radio

(08:50):
station always met at the cafe for lunch ahead of time.
But that's not your thing. You got shuckers, you got
the Combee ship, got all these great things down there,
and and a lot of great shots. We want to
encourage people to not not just come for the parade,
but kind of hang around a little bit as well.
Now in years past, Saint Albans has always had their
parade and then Nitro had their parade afterwards. But that's

(09:11):
not the case this year because Nitro's gonna be playing
for the Football Championship. We'll have more than that coming
up a little bit later on. So they have actually
moved their parade to the following week And I say
that because I know there's always a rivalry between the towns,
but you guys work together on a lot of things
as well, and in years past you had to You
did the Saint Albans parade and everybody had to pack
up to go across and get ready for the Nitro parade.

(09:33):
But the Nitro parade is not happening this weekend. It'll
be the following weekend.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
That's right. Be sure they understand Nitro's not happening.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
Nitro's not happening. I do believe South Charleston is happening.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
And they're twelve o'clock.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
Yeah, and so you got plenty of time to do.

Speaker 7 (09:46):
Both three hours between and that gives you plenty of
time to participate and then pack up, grab a bike
to eat and then come to Saint Albans.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
And we do have several that do that.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
Yeah, and the weather actually looks pretty good for Sayaturday,
I mean it's it's there's no no, no snow. I
mean a little snow is okay. You just don't want
to snow out, you know. But but but there's no
there's the Saturday is actually going to be the nicest
day we've had in a long time.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
It's not going to rain on our parade.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
No, no, has it has your parade ever in the
years it's been gone on, guys, has it ever been.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
Postponed for one that I know of?

Speaker 4 (10:20):
What year was that? Approximately?

Speaker 3 (10:21):
You remember when in the past, seven or eight?

Speaker 4 (10:24):
Okay, but not this one.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
It already going to rain on the parade, all right.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
All right, give us all the details again before we
let you go. The lineup and where they need to
be and whatever.

Speaker 7 (10:35):
Okay, the lineup starts at two o'clock. Come to Hansford
Center and you come down the corner of Walnut Street
and Washington Avenue like you're going to go downtown and
you were going in the proper direction. And the parade
itself starts at three o'clock. And once it starts, if

(10:58):
you if you're late running and you can get in
white before Santa Claus.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
We will not turn anyone away.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
All right, sounds good, guys. We appreciate you taking down
to be here.

Speaker 7 (11:06):
Go ahead and okay, and and if you have any
questions you can contact us. Check us out on our website.
It is Saint Albans WV dot com forward slash Christmas.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
She did it two times in a row, Patty. You're
you're a lady if the parade like, how long have
you been involved in in the parade, Patty?

Speaker 7 (11:30):
The first parade I did was when we had the
all class reunion in two thousand, okay. And we started
on at the high school and went downtown all the
way down Canola Terrace, down Park Street, down Sixth Avenue,
and ended on Main Street.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
Took us a while to get there.

Speaker 7 (11:49):
They were on they were on Main Street, and we
were not off of the high school parking lot.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
Okay.

Speaker 7 (11:55):
But there was a lot of old people there. They
came to see, to ride in the parade and so forth.
But I've been doing parades twelve for fifteen years, been
involved with him.

Speaker 6 (12:04):
She has her own parade corner. Did you know that day?

Speaker 8 (12:06):
No to tell me about that, Anthony so so last
sometime this past year, in twenty twenty five, we decided
to dedicate where the parade lineup, you know lineup takes
place as the Parade Lady Corner. So anytime you go
around Saint Francis and Park Street, there's actually a sign
that says, you know, Parade Lady Corner. Okay, dedicated to
Patty Swingo.

Speaker 4 (12:26):
Okay, Well that's pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (12:28):
It was very very nice of it.

Speaker 6 (12:30):
I had no clue it's gonna happen.

Speaker 4 (12:31):
I'll look for that on Saturdays. I said, all of
our stations are going to be there. I'll be there
with that guy, Steve Animal from from the Mountain. So
we'll be there, and I think all our other stations
is going to be there as well. We're looking forward
to it. But it's not going down Old Main this year. Correct,

How you doing, my friend?

Speaker 12 (15:38):
Good morning, sir, how are you?

Speaker 4 (15:39):
I am doing fine. We kind of thought that maybe
we'd be joined by Steve Animal of this morning, but
I don't know where Animal is. But that's not a
bad thing, because when he comes in here, things tend
to get broken and the place has got a really
weird smell when he leaves.

Speaker 12 (15:53):
He's a he is a wild animal.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
He is he is he is indeed all right, so
we've had this contest uh with with you guys at
Trojan Landing and our sister station of which Animal resides
every morning ninety eight to seven a Mountain wild a
wonderful classic rock where we wanted. It was a high
octane holiday, I think is what we call it, right correct,
Uh with the with Steve Animal and the good folks

(16:15):
at Trojan land we've been signing people up uh to
win one of the machines that's available. Talk about the
contest and how you came up with us.

Speaker 12 (16:25):
So you know, we partnered with you guys back in
the summer to give away a motorcycle and that was
a big event. So we gave away a role in
field and it was one of the really legitly one
of the best selling backs in the country. Most role
and field dealers cannot keep these in stock. And uh

(16:45):
it was the four fifty Himalayan. And we get getting
on Christmas and everything, and we just picked these units
up here probably in the summer, and I was like,
why don't we give one of these away a kid like,
you know, let's make somebody's Christmas. And so we got

(17:05):
with h. We got with you guys. You're you know,
the management here and started coming up with a plan,
and so we're giving away anything for ten year olds
and less. So we got two sets of full wheelers
ATVs that you can choose from, or all four dirt bikes,
and so we just want to help make somebody's Christmas
this year.

Speaker 4 (17:25):
And you've been Chris, Animal's been registering people on the air,
and then you've also been registering people in store. What's
the response been. I mean, I know what because you
know when I when I talk to Animal and I
listened to him on against my better judgment, when I
listen to him in the morning, I hear him talking
about it. But the response I know on the phone
lines has been really good. What's the response been like
in store?

Speaker 12 (17:45):
Very well. I think that I think we'll have more
people than like my staff is anticipating, because daily people
are stopping in multiple times a day to sign up,
and then even yesterday, even though it's closed, we still
have more people stopping in. I don't know if we'll
have quite the three hundred people that are coming that

(18:10):
came out for the four fifty, but the uh I
think will be I think we'll be surprised there. I
think a lot of people are looking for that good
Christmas gill.

Speaker 4 (18:18):
Okay, and now we do want to tell people that
an animal has has made an appearance. Now everything come out,
okay in there, because I know where you were. Uh
my gosh, that's Steve Animal who knows how to make
an appearance an entry. Thank you for getting the memo
being here on time.

Speaker 12 (18:36):
It's I have my phone. No what are you sure?

Speaker 4 (18:41):
No, no, no, I mean no, no, no, nine twenty yeah, no,
nine thirty.

Speaker 12 (18:51):
So you're just gonna split the days. Okay, so you're
five minutes earlier I said.

Speaker 4 (18:55):
I think I said nine thirty ish is what I said.
But anyway, we're here. We talking about the contest. Sean
Harbon here is here from a from Trojan Land. Yes,
we'll be hanging out together. But Friday, oh Saturday. You
got the day wrong, man.

Speaker 12 (19:10):
I'm I think I'm going to be on air with
you tomorrow, so we'll be hanging to take over.

Speaker 4 (19:14):
Well, you're just coming to take over this thing, all right.
So we were talking about regising people, but but you
you've been regising people on air, You been registering people,
just like with the last contest. You do have to
be present to win.

Speaker 12 (19:24):
You did, and so.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
I would get there. You guys got a great, great
big space and give us the address.

Speaker 12 (19:30):
Fourteen fourteen the Corkor Avenue south West.

Speaker 4 (19:32):
All right, so you got a big space. However, you
probably want to get there, you know a little bit early, yeah,
because you know, to get in and get a good
place registered. And we are going to allow people to register,
as I said that day as well, right by.

Speaker 13 (19:45):
The Patrick Street bridge. I talked to my friends over tutors.
I think they're going to hook us up with some
biscuits and and stuff for breakfast too on Saturday morning.
So I'll swing by and get that and yeah, we
we won't have a great time, and I have I'll
have another quality fire I'll get on the air tomorrow morning.

Speaker 12 (20:01):
Okay, man, and then two once you know, and we
give it away to one. But you know, for those
who don't win, you know, we we have plenty available
to purchase even if you don't win. So you know,
we making sure everybody's ready to go.

Speaker 5 (20:15):
All right.

Speaker 4 (20:15):
So you draw one name out, okay, and that person
the winner. How does it work for them? Congratulations John Smith,
You're the winner. Then what Steve Animal if you want.

Speaker 12 (20:24):
Steve, congratulations. So they they'll pick out what unit they
want out of those basically six qualifying units, the two
ATVs and the four dirt bikes, and then they pick
out the color they want and we'll build it, get
it ready for him, and it's theirs.

Speaker 4 (20:40):
Okay, Yeah, we pay all the stuff when you say
you build it.

Speaker 12 (20:44):
Yeah, because it's the most of them, because we have
over seventy of them in stock right now of the Donagos.
So depending on what color they want, it might not
be built yet, so we'll have to build it and
get it ready for him.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
Well I was going to ask you, whoever the winter is,
will will it be done in time for Christmas?

Speaker 12 (21:03):
Oh yeah yeah, yeah. It only takes us an hour
get everything. Yeah, so they'll be able to take it
that day. Yeah yeah, the likely yeah, more likely.

Speaker 4 (21:11):
And talk about the brands again, because that's one of
the things that's interesting to me with Trojan Landing when
we gave away the bike last summer, is that you
have some brands that are high quality brands, but many
of them may may not be as well known in
this area. But there's some of the top names out there.

Speaker 12 (21:25):
Yeah, So I mean Obviously, our biggest brand on the
power sports side is Suzuki, so we do you know,
we're really proud of them and everything. But we do
have seventeen brands we carry now, so I mean it's
a lot of stuff. The biggest thing going right now
that people don't know about is our electric brand because

(21:45):
the Emoto stuff is absolutely flying out of the store
for those who do know. But it's Zero, which is
an American based company, and then Raar, which is another
American based company. So we have been really selling those
Emotos because you know, you're not making the old lady
mad in the neighborhood when you're out there on your

(22:06):
bike now with that two stroke, you know that's gone.
You're out there silent, and so a lot of kids
are happy sneak out. But yeah, Rule Infield Bonelli. I mean,
those are two of the three oldest brands in the
world roll in Fields, older than the the HD place.
So I've been around since nineteen oh one. This is

(22:29):
one hundred and twenty five years of rural infield and
you know, most of us their own Rule in Fields
and they're they're really good products. I mean, they really are.
For the money, you just can't beat it. You know,
my birthday's coming up Thursday.

Speaker 4 (22:41):
If you'd like to hook a brother up. Yeah, you
do have a birthday coming up next Thursday. Yeah, okay, Thursday, Thursday, Thursday.
Just last year you had a birthday.

Speaker 12 (22:51):
Man, you're brilliant.

Speaker 4 (22:52):
It's the day. It is brought to you. Admired by

Trojan landing. And we do want to tell people as
as well that when you come in to your place,

(23:14):
there's a whole lot of Chris. I mean, we want
people to purchase things for Christmas. However, if it's if
it's not a machine that they want to purchase, you've
got a lot of other you know, things they can
get up parel and stuff.

Speaker 12 (23:23):
Talking about Yes, yeah, so we have right now, like
even for the for the kids, Like if you're looking
for this to Nago and you're doing that there we
have one hundred and sixty dollars kids that come with
chest protectors are elbow protectors, knee protectors, a neck pad.
They generally run you about two hundred and seventy two
hundred and eighty bucks. I know, yeah, helmets, I mean, gloves, shirts,

(23:47):
We got all kinds of stuff and it's get outfitted
pretty serious. The only thing we don't have yet is
the kids' boots because that's just so hard to size.

Speaker 13 (23:56):
Everybody have a pair of moon boots from nineteen seventy eight.
My I could donate those.

Speaker 4 (24:02):
It sounds like some of the random Craft prize clause
that they do. So we want to, you know, just
urge everybody to come on out there. And as I said,
and I was talking to the folks earlier about the
Saint August Christmas Parade, the weather is actually going to
be pretty good on Saturday. It's gonna be cold, but
I mean it's December, yeah, but we're not gonna be
dealing on Saturday with snow or rain or anything like that.
It looks like right now. So it's gonna be a
good day to come on out and and uh, and

(24:24):
it's always fun when we do these events because again
it's kind of an all hands on deck. We're all
going to be there and we're looking forward to it.
It's a good time.

Speaker 12 (24:32):
We usually participate in the Saint Albans Christmas Parade, but
when the scheduling conflicts and everything started happening and this
day came up. We're still going to be in the
South Charleston Christmas Parade this weekend. We just can't do
the Saint Albans once too, so unfortunately.

Speaker 4 (24:47):
Well, and you have you know, the thing about it
is is that you have these parades, and you know
it's South Charleston and most of our stations are going
to be in that one. We won't be because we'll
be hanging out with you. But after we up here
then we're going to go to the St. Albans Christmas Brey.
Do you want to remind people again, because Joe Stevens
asked me to remind them this that the Nitro Christmas
Bread is not going to be this week because Nitro's

(25:08):
playing for a state championship, so they've moved there. They
moved theirs to next week.

Speaker 12 (25:13):
I like that I can actually visit these state championship
games now.

Speaker 4 (25:16):
Yeah, yeah, and now you can do it.

Speaker 14 (25:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (25:19):
Well, we'll talk about that coming up a little bit
later on as well. All right, so again you'll you're
gonna register Steve one more person on the air tomorrow
on ninety eight seven A.

Speaker 13 (25:28):
Mounth Yes, I am one one final chance and then
I do understand between eleven and noon we will get
maybe two more qualifiers from those that show up, and
then that'll be it.

Speaker 12 (25:39):
From a at Saturday at our place.

Speaker 4 (25:42):
Yes, okay, yeah, yeah, so be there be there is
Heather going to be doing any cooking.

Speaker 12 (25:48):
No, no, no cooking. She is she shut it down.
She locked her for the season. Season.

Speaker 4 (25:56):
Yeah, all right, guys, it's all having a trojan landing again.
Eleven o'clock is when we'll start get there a little
bit early, and we have have we notified that the
finalist that we have. How does that work? Thank god
we have Tracy at the front.

Speaker 13 (26:09):
Yes, she's been calling, texting and just getting i know,
sending out some emails too. So looking like we should
have a good crowd.

Speaker 12 (26:17):
She gasped at me when I walked in again. She
was just like, you're the.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
One that calls it on this, You're you're the one
causing me grief.

Speaker 12 (26:24):
I was like, that's that's Sean's fault.

Speaker 4 (26:27):
Yeah, blame Sean sales weasel. He's not here right now,
all right, Uh so Sean, So Sean Hardener will see

I mean throughout the Christmas season nine to five every Saturday.
It's eight to six basically Tuesday through Friday. But we
are going to be open. December to twenty third is
our last day open before the Christmas season. So if
you're looking for any like you said, apperil gifts or

(27:04):
last minute purchases.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
Often so if anybody's gonna come in on Christmas even
get that last the truly last minute gift, probably not
gonna happen.

Speaker 12 (27:12):
Yeah, So yeah, that would be twenty third to be
our last day twentieth and then the twenty third that
Saturday and that Tuesday.

Speaker 4 (27:18):
So do you uh you guys, after Christmas, do you
do any kind of like you're in sales events or

I get a text to the text line that my

We had a dog named Crewton, and these folks, they're
from the Saint Albans area. They went and they they
got the dog is already named Creuton, and he knew
his name, so that we don't know where the name

(39:35):
came from. He didn't speak up one way or the
other as to where the name came from. He didn't
He wasn't telling the story. But they adopted Crewton.

Speaker 12 (39:43):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (39:44):
Crewton has become a social media phenomenon on Instagram chronicles
of Creuton. And they brought Crewton to see me. They
dropped off some delicious popcorn as well. Uh So yeah,
I got really excited earlier in the week when I
found out that my good bye d Crewton was in
the building. So I pretty much stopped what I was
doing to go hang out with the dog. And I've

(40:05):
got pictures posted about it at a post them that

Something on my mind this morning. The world of social
media always needs to be something to be outraged about,
and the outrage du jour over the last twenty four

(41:29):
hours or so here in our area has to do
with a new restaurant opening up in Charleston. Ordinarily, this
would be good news, right, I mean, a new place
to eat in an already great restaurant scene here in
the capital city. But no, our social media justice team

(41:55):
have taken it upon themselves to try to take a
big giant crap on this restaurant, the owners and the
people who work there and everybody included, okay, because they
don't like their politics. You heard that right. It's a
I don't think it started out as an organized social

(42:15):
media outrage, but it kind of went to that because
they don't like the owner's politics. And listen, I get
not patronizing the place because the owners don't line up
with you politically. And now I just like, actually, I
don't get it, Okay, but that's just me. What I
do have a problem with, though, are these social media

(42:38):
warriors trying to bring harm and bring down a business
by telling others that you shouldn't dine there either. To them,
I would say, get a life, people. I'm sorry. This
is just my opinion, not the opinions. That's why we
run the disclaimer at to beginning of the show. The
using opinions do not necessarily represent those same for advertisers.

(43:01):
I have zero tolerance for this. If you don't want
to go there, fine, don't go. But why in the
world would you want to try to destroy a business
and their employees all because you don't like the politics
of the owners. This is a business offering something unique

(43:24):
in Charleston that wasn't there. Wasn't there talking about Cajun food, okay,
and employing people. But because somebody didn't like the politics.
Anytime there was a post, you know, there's these different
restaurant review pages and whatever, people were saying, this place

(43:50):
is filled with hate, space is filled with bigotry and
so on and so forth. If you don't like that
for yourself, then fine that you're more compass one hundred
percent don't go there. But Why why are you urging
other people not to go and basically putting people out
of work? And I don't I doubt I've not been
to the restaurant yet. I doubt very seriously if you

(44:10):
go in there that you are going to be served
a healthy dose of right wing propaganda, you know, next
to your food. It's just insane to me. And talks
of harassing these people, and make no mistake about it,
it's out and out harassment from people that are just
trying to make a living. And it reminds me, just

(44:33):
to show you where my mind is on this. It
reminds me. But twenty years or so ago, in my
hometown of Logan, there was someone that wanted to open
up an adult bookstore and the local churches and others
lost their minds over it. And it was a pretty
big deal back then, in the days before social media,

(44:54):
or at least social media being how we know it now.
There were protests and so on and so forth. I
was doing you know, the local morning show there and
we had a segment where we took phone calls. I
simply said, then if you don't like it, don't go.
Why why should you keep other people from going? And
you know in Charleston, in other areas, lots of people

(45:14):
get upset about pride activities. Again, I say it, if
you don't like it, don't go. It's not hard. If
this new place's owners, their political beliefs don't line up
with yours, then simply don't go. I mean, it's it's
not hard, But I just don't know where you think

(45:35):
it's your place to tell people you shouldn't go because
they believe this. They'll find that out on their own.
And I don't think, again, you're there to eat. I
don't think that they're going to turn anyone away. And
it's a little personal to me because I know the
owner very well. He's a good young man. I've interviewed

(45:55):
him on the show in the past. I don't agree
with him on everything politically one hundred percent. And also
I don't agree with him, but that's okay. I keep
you from going in there. There's a lot of more
left leaning establishments in Charleston. I don't agree with that
much either, and I still go in there. She tried sometime.
It's really not that hard. But Dave Allen showing five

Waight Text says have you heard from your frequent radio caller,
Jim Brown. Haven't heard from him for several months. Thanks Nix.
I called this show in a while. He's called Midday
a couple of times, but I have not talked to
mister Jim. Text, says Dave. What's the name of this restaurant?

(49:30):
Because my family, my friends will go there and eats. Well,
I didn't mention the name because well, you know, we
got we got to send him a bill if we
do that, because it's advertising, I'll say, Okay, I'll go
ahead and throw it out there. I'm sorry, advertising program.
The name of the place is a Bourbon Street bestro
and it's in Charleston, and I know the owner very well.

(49:51):
Don't know any of the staff. I haven't even been
there yet, but I do know the owner very well,
and I just it just it just appalled me that
this happened to this, to this restaurant. Just trying to
give people some more options to an already great restaurant community. Charleston.
Tex says, good thinking and commentary on the new restaurant.

(50:12):
Thank you very much from the heart, Tex says, Dave,
what's the restaurant? What's their politics? Well, the name of
the restaurant is Bourbon Street Bistro, and the owner of
the restaurant is very easy to find politically, he's been
on this show before. But that's not important. But the
politics are not important in my opinion, and a text

(50:35):
I wanna fall and I appreciate this text another look
at it. Perhaps the owners shouldn't bring politics in their business.
They open themselves up to criticism for bringing their politics
into the business. It's probably intentional for the cultural war
marketing angle. No, that is entirely incorrect. If that's what happened,
then the texture's got a point. But they never once
said anything on their social media about politics. It's the

(50:57):
social media warriors that decided that, hey, we're gonna go
find out everything we can about these people. I guarantee
you that if you walk into that restaurant that you're
not gonna hear a single thing about right wing ideology.
Nobody's gonna ask you who you've voted for, what you're
They have not said go to their social media. They've
not said a single thing about politics. Somebody thought it
was their job though, to quote unquote out this guy

(51:21):
and out this restaurant, which is just crap, in my opinion,
total crap Texas Day. The people melting down over a
business owner daring to have free thought and different viewers
are the same people who celebrated the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Truly sick and vile individuals. Again, this business never said
a word in their business about their politics at all.

(51:42):
You'lls not again. I've seen the pictures. I haven't been there.
There's no signs hanging up or anything like that, just
because people disagree with it. And I've dined frequently in
places that go in that have rainbow flags and have
all this other stuff. And I and I say, one
hundred percent, it's your restaurant. You do what you want to.
Doesn't keep me from dining there. Somebody's politics is not
going to keep me from downing there because I'm not

(52:03):
shallow that way. I'm shallow in other ways, DJ, but
not that way.

Speaker 18 (52:08):
You can admit it.

Speaker 20 (52:08):
That's the first step, right, that you're shallow in some ways. Yeah, Look,
you know what capitalism, the market.

Speaker 4 (52:13):
Tends to take care of these things, Dave.

Speaker 20 (52:14):
I've said before, spend your money there if you want, don't.

Speaker 12 (52:19):
If you don't, it can end there. That's all you
gotta do.

Speaker 4 (52:21):
And my point was is, look, if if you're morally
opposed to it, then by all means don't go. I
completely understand, but don't don't make it, don't harass people,
which is basically what's going on in social media right now.
They are harassing these people. All right, give me ten seconds.

Speaker 12 (52:33):
We gotta go.
