Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is the dragon Con Pregame Show, powered by Columbus
State University's Coca Cola Space Science Center, where you can
learn the science behind the fiction.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
So this is a special game time edition of the
dragon Con Pregame Show. Normally, of course, we do the
show before dragon Con. We're now into dragon Con where
we're coming to you from the convention itself. And you
probably have a certain thing that you think about when
you think of dragon Con. You think about getting to
meet some of your favorite celebrities, stars of TV and

(00:34):
film and animation, and your favorite authors or comic book artists.
You probably think about gaming. You probably think about live music.
You may think about vendors. And that's what I want
to talk to you a little bit about as we
roll into this game day edition, if you will, of

(00:55):
the Pregame Show, and I want to focus a little
bit this morning on some of the vendors who are
at dragon Con this year. There's over three hundred vendors.
It's three floors of the America's Mart building, and I've
told you many times this is a convention that mainly
takes place in five four star hotels, but they also

(01:17):
take over America's Mark and one of the differences in
this convention of the conventions is how much of it
takes place in the hotels. But it's a short walk
to America's Mark and that's where you're going to find
the three hundred plus vendors with unique items for sale.
Some of those items are specific to dragon Con. Some

(01:37):
of them very much makes sense for Dragon Cons. Some
of them makes sense if you're a cosplayer. Some of
them makes sense if you are a gamer. Some of
them make sense if you just like to find some
really cool unique item that you're not going to be
able to find most other places. So today I'm going
to walk around and talk to some of the vendors

(01:58):
that have been here for a while, a little longer
than others, some are a little newer to the Dragon
Con vendor area, and give you a little spotlight on
some of the vendors that you should come by and
check out. And we're gonna start making our way to
the first floor and talk to some of those vendors.
All right, we're in the vendor hall, and we're kicking
off Day one of Dragon Con in the vendor hall

(02:21):
inside America's More, and we are here at Blonde Swan
with Elizabeth, and you have some amazing hats out here
on display. Tell us about blonde Swana what you want.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
I just have to say, you kicked it off right
if you I'm the first person, it was the right
place to come. Okay, let me just tell you about
our hats. Okay, so we've been making hats over twenty years.
I think we've been at the show for over fifteen.
I don't like to age myself too much, so whatever,
this is my twenty fourth so you know, Okay, well,
all right, we're really excited for this season. We have

(02:53):
all kinds of stuff to show right now. Obviously it's
like Witchy Gothy stuff is just one of our biggest
things with Wicked and Wednesday and things like that. Things
are just great. So but obviously we have our old
classics to like our tribute to Luigi and Mario, to
Wonder Woman, to Ghostbusters to everything. Because I called Dragon,

(03:16):
called Marti Graff or geeks and I holy, I totally.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
Stand by that. It's it's our time to have fun
and have.

Speaker 5 (03:21):
A good time.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
And your booth number is twelve twenty six. Again, if
I don't know, if someone is on their way to
dragon Con and they know twelve twenty six, and they
want to look ahead at what you got. You have
some stuff on your website.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
We do www dot Monswan dot com. Now we don't
have everything about our website says some of the stuff
is just for in person only. But if you see
something here at a show or something, you know, just
send us an email.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
We can make it for you.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
And I like some of the genre specific stuff. And then,
like you pointed out, I'll see tomorrow and I see
the Halloween stuff there as well. Yeah, already into that season.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Well yeah, and that's another the thing. You know, what
do they call it summer ween? Yes, that's what we're
into right now. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Yeah, and that hat right here, this hat right here,
this hat right here? Talk about that hat?

Speaker 3 (04:10):
That's that hat all just it's a black cat. Yeah,
I've got my my cathedral inspired We call this the
High Priestess. It's got like the it's actually based off
historical churches and things like that, like like the windows.
But we also have our our man eating plant witchy
hats to our riding hats. And then we have our

(04:32):
oz map over here. That is pretty remarkable. It's actually
the accurate map of Oz. It's a laser cut into
the hat and then air brushed and sealed. So that's
probably one of my favorites of the season. And at
the top you can see Glinda's in the bubble.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
So gorgeous hats. And this is the thing about when
you come and you shop in the vendor area, you
find something like a hat and you can wear this
year after year after year when you.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
Come back to d oh.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
It is definitely a hat that you'll have for a life.
That's what we do. It's it's not just a party
city hat. It's a hat that's art. It's a hat
that you can pass down. It's handcrafted by actual artisans.
This is all out of Ohio. Everything we make from
the ground up, and even if we design our buckles
to our featherwork, to everything everything we touch is part

(05:21):
of us.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
So fantastic booth. It is twelve twenty six, twenty six
Blondswan dot com.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
All right, we're at vendor Booth fifteen twenty one now
this morning, and we're here at artcarp with James and Cheach.
Let's talk about your wares for people that are coming
in to see the vendor Hall, making their way to
America's mark to fifteen twenty one. What are they going
to see here?

Speaker 6 (05:45):
They are going to see the most incredible wooden wears
from here to New York City. Baby, We've got the
biggest mimic ever made fully out of hardwood. We have
a Dragon Con exclusive. We have enough dice Goblin level
storage to keep you entertained for the rest of your life.
I've got the largest dice box in the world and
the largest dice tower in the world, and it's all

(06:07):
done up incredibly by my artist and I pretty much solo.
It's just the two of us everything here, and.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Your artist is cheat all right, is this your work
here with the giant This is the oh my gosh
with the purple tail coming out just for Dragon Purple to.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
It is.

Speaker 7 (06:30):
I designed his face parts. I create the design and
then send that to James the carpenter, and.

Speaker 6 (06:38):
Then once I get that design, I'm able to translate
it into something that works with wood and craftsmanship, and
we're able to take it into an actual real thing.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
So I like what you have. All you says protect
your hoarde. So for those of us that have way
too many dice that we've collected over the years. You
have all of these amazing little.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
To big on fifty dice individual.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
My wife does not want to hear that because she
already thinks I have too many. But that seems like
a perfect place to have them.

Speaker 8 (07:09):
Problem.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
It sounds like a perfect place to store them where
they're not untidy. And she's a tidy person, and she
likes seems to be tidy. So when folks come here
and they walk up and they see this giant mouth
with this purple tongue hanging out, and how so, what
of this stuff is your design? Cheat? As far as
the things that you're doing artistically, all of.

Speaker 7 (07:33):
The fine art involved with everything you see here was
drawn up by me. That includes the faces and of
the mimics. That includes the ears.

Speaker 4 (07:42):
And tails of the cats.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
We've got all the designs on the exclusive.

Speaker 7 (07:47):
Yeah, the dragon con exclusive featuring ten different dragons that
I've drawn up.

Speaker 6 (07:53):
Any teeth you see on any of our mimics have
been drawn up by Cheat.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
All that stuff, so you have it exclusives while supplies
last last thing, Let's go, so folks should get here early.
We're at booth fifteen twenty one and for folks that
are heading up to check out what you got, or
maybe they can't quite make it this year. You guys
have a website we.

Speaker 6 (08:15):
Do artcart dot net, or you can check us out
on Instagram at the art cart.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
James and Cheech thank you so much.

Speaker 6 (08:21):
Absolutely thanks for coming Bay.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
We are at booth twelve o four now in the
vendor hall with Straya the art of Straya Obscure. But
you're not Australian, but that's okay, that's okay. Let's your name,
that's all right, all right. So we're looking at some
gorgeous These are bags, yes, that are dragoned up. There's
some dragon.

Speaker 8 (08:42):
Yeah, this is the so this is the dragon Companion.
So they are a series of item bags, which are
bags designed to have the window on the front so
you can display small trinkets and animal pins things like that,
and then I slapped a dragon on it. Basically I
designed these bags from the ground up.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
And you've got some just dragons back here in the
back here too.

Speaker 8 (09:01):
These are my standies, I call them. I do all
of the illustrating and then they're printed and sea and
seed and then I put them together and so they're
semi three D statues without taking up the same amount
of space as a big statue.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
So one of the things that people do when they
get to Dragon Coon is they get their badge and
they're like, I want to make sure my badge is secure.
And lanyards are always in demand. You got some gorgeous
and also some pins over here.

Speaker 8 (09:26):
So I have lanyards plenty of designs for all outfits,
all costumes, and then I have a ton of dragon
pins to decorate both your lanyards, the bags and everything.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Just to keep yourself all blinged out.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
And you were telling me that you have been here.
How many years have you been doing this.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
Dragon twelve years? Started in the art show.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Nice and with convention like Dragon Con. What does it
mean for you when you're doing this every year because
it's just such a great.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 8 (09:53):
Dragon Con is my hometown and my favorite con. I mean,
obviously I specialize in dragons. It makes right I started.
This is the first quote unquote big convention I ever did,
and it still is my favorite, best one of the year.
This is the convention that I go all out for.
If I make a new product, it's coming out at

(10:14):
Dragon Con. Is Yeah, including my hip patchlings, which are
my brand new bag design.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
And you have some special pricing this year at dragon Con.

Speaker 8 (10:22):
Yes, yes, we have a lot of my larger dragon Brags.
Some of them are twenty some of them are fifty
percent off. We do bundles. This is just like for
my dragon Con people this this weekend have my wallets
on sale. We do full bundles where if you want
the big bag, the wallet, the hip bag.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
You want to mix and match, you can.

Speaker 8 (10:42):
You can change out the inserts and make these companions
the look you want to have.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
You guys are on the first floor and right when
you come in it's a visually fantastic booth that you
got set up with all the art on display. It
just looks fantastic. So for folks that are going to
come up for dragon Con or come into dragon and
they want to find you, but they want to maybe
check ahead. I know you have a website.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
We do. It is art off so dot com easy
to find.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
And this is Booth twelve O for Australia.

Speaker 4 (11:13):
Thank you, thank you very much.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
All right in the vendor hall fifteen oh one fifteen
oh five is where we are now and we've got
Reginald Andrew, It's Norse Foundry and it's ravenswood Leather, whichever
one of you guys wants to go first. But let's
talk about dice. I'm a dice collector and I've been
stalking your dice on your website and you have a

(11:37):
lot of very pretty dice here.

Speaker 4 (11:40):
Yeah, we do have a lot of dice.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
And that's an all you got, though, Let's talk about
what you guys have set up here as far as
getting ready for everybody come flooding in to kick off
Friday here at Dragon Con. Yeah.

Speaker 9 (11:52):
So we don't only just do dice. We do a
lot of dice accessories, OURPG accessories. We have storage solutions,
things to keep track of different effects and counters for
your RPG games or c c CCG games, wargames.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Et cetera.

Speaker 9 (12:08):
So we have a lot of different, variety of different
objects for your tabletop playing.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
And you're when you're talking about storage, what kind of
stuff have you got for storage? I'm just looking around
you guys.

Speaker 9 (12:18):
We've got the dice boxes here, all of our some
of our dice trays have a dice dice storage solution
like around the ring here, just different types of ways
to store your individual dice sets or dice counters, et cetera.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
And you're not new to dragon Con. I assume neither
one of you guys are new to dragon Con.

Speaker 9 (12:38):
No, I believe this is our tenth year. I believe
is we're we're on our decade with dragon.

Speaker 4 (12:44):
Con right now.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
And the rats on that ye been here even longer
think let me, let me let me talk to Red
a little bit about the leather because again, been stalking
your website and part of my crew is already in
there stalking your leather. So and it's gorgeous stuff that
you do. Oh, thank you. Tell us a little bit
about what you got on display today and into the
weekend for dragon Con.

Speaker 5 (13:04):
Oh, we got everything. So we have outfits for cosplay
or of course Renaissance outfits or pirate.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
We have belts and ball rips.

Speaker 5 (13:16):
We have Jedi stuff, a huge amount of like Jedi
belts and different solutions for hanging lightsabers, and then we
have wizarding where I think about six different ways to
carry you one from death Eater belts to shoulder holsters,
and I mean it just goes on. We have a

(13:36):
lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
So what I like about both of what you guys do.
As far as you come to dragon Con, you buy
something like gaming dice, and you use it, you have
that memory of where you got it from. You got
it from dragon Con. Maybe it becomes a regular and
you say, oh, I need to come back and get
some more dice at dragon Con. And then as far
as the leather things, you buy something you could buy
a cheap cosplay or you could buy a quality piece

(13:57):
of leather that you're going to be able to use
for years to at various events.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
Right.

Speaker 5 (14:01):
Yeah, when we make clothing not costumes exactly, that's the
we like to do kind of a dramatic player on
our stuff and have fun with it.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
How did you get into leather? Like, how did you when?
When did you say leather is gonna be my thing?
What was that? Was there a story there?

Speaker 5 (14:15):
Rift into it? Yeah, I've been doing this thirty five
years and I just you start start something little and
it gets out of hand. So yeah, I got out
of hand.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
Yeah, Yeah, I.

Speaker 5 (14:24):
Hear everything in Pinehurst, Texas.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
Yeah, I'm gonna go as far as dice goes just
a gamer or is that where it started or where
did the love for that come.

Speaker 9 (14:33):
Yeah, So I grew up playing games like D and
D and Magic and Warhammer and a bunch of those
other games and started just bringing them in for a
buddy though at a local game store back in twenty eleven
and just kind of got out of hand, like reg said,
just kind of one of those things. Never thought it
would be as big as it is now, but they

(14:56):
got there, and we're happy to be here.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
In a convention like dragon com on, so many people
come flooding in. This becomes a really big weekend, I
know for you guys, so many folks coming in, and
that's such a big part of the convention itself. All right,
So you're fifteen oh five, you're fifty on one, So
you guys are technically just next door neighbors, and obviously
you must get along if you're sharing your interview time together.

Speaker 9 (15:17):
Yeah, and that's so that's like one of the beauties
of how our boots are set up is there's so
much synergy between both of our teams but also the
booth experiences because, like Regge also has a bunch of
tabletop accessories with all of his leather goods that you
can get awesome leather dice tray or dice storage as
well solution. We carry some of Regge's products in our

(15:38):
booth too that he's made things for that like fit
specifically for our products.

Speaker 5 (15:43):
So there's store for his products.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
And he does so.

Speaker 9 (15:48):
You know, Dragon con always seems like a fun party,
kind but it's for us. It's awesome because reg and
I have been next to each other for probably at
least five or six years, if not more. But our
teams get along great. You know, I've known Reuch for
years and it's it's always great to come and see
a familiar face, have somebody that you can trust on

(16:09):
and be there for you if there's anything that comes up,
and it's a really fun experience for both of us.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
Friendship is a big part of this convention. So many
people come and I feel like they're coming home. So
when you guys can share that, that's great. Norse Foundry,
ravens Wood Leather, you guys have gorgeous setups. I haven't
been into Ravenswood yet, but I'm about to walk in
there right now. But thank you, guys. Have a great weekend.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
So there you go. That's five vendors that you can
see plenty more. I told you there's three hundred plus
for you to peruse their wares while you're here at
the convention inside America's Mart. Depending on when you're hearing this,
maybe some of those exclusive items that are limited time

(16:51):
only or while they last, maybe they've already come and gone.
We've given you some of the websites that you can
check out in case maybe you can't even make it
this year, and in case you haven't noticed the pattern,
these are vendors that have been coming back year after year.
So maybe you're not listening to this the day of
Friday for dragon Con, and maybe you're thinking about coming

(17:12):
in a future date. These are vendors that will most
certainly be here again next year. So again, it's America's
Mart in Atlanta, that's where it takes place. You've got
the five four star hotels where the rest of the
convention is taking place. And again we want to thank
our sponsor for all of our Dragon Con pregame show
and of course even game day coverage, Columbus State University's

(17:36):
Coca Cola Space Science Center.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
