(00:00):
I don't remember. No, Idon't remember. No, I don't remember.
I don't know what I don't Idon't know. So you're saying you
don't remember. From the South coastof the Golden State. It swarm Beach's

(00:20):
most popular talk show with Alex Hexeand now your host, Alex Exe.
Wow, I mean just wow. We're all And when I say all,
not just America. The entire worldis reeling from the presidential debates, and
in particular Joe Biden's lack luster lacklusteris that the right word. Now,

(00:45):
let's just say he's a dead dog, dead duck, dead goose. I
mean, Trump debated a corpse tonight. How could he not win? And
all the pundits are obviously reeling. What will we do? I mean,

(01:06):
look, when CNN is saying weneed a new candidate, you know the
fix is in. I want tosuggest something that I've mentioned on this show.
I don't want to go out andsay, hey, I predicted this,
this is exactly what I thought wouldhappen. No, I was even
shocked. But I have said manytimes on this show all year leading up
to well the conviction of Donald Trumpthe Kangaroo Court that we saw the January

(01:33):
sixth I don't like calling them rioters. Insurrectionists is even too harsh a term.
Let's say, the people that werejailed due to January sixth have got
a raw deal. They've been punishedthirty years for some of these guys.
Come on. So this whole leadup to this debate, and knowing how

(01:56):
duplicitous the media is and you cannever trust them. But I've said many
times on this show, I'm notgoing to go back and play the clips.
I could care less if you believeme or not. But I have
said, who are they going toget to run? Because they're gonna jettison
Joe Biden? How many times haveI said this? You've heard the show.
You've heard the show. I said, how are they going to run
Biden against Trump? That is,if Trump stays out of jail. But

(02:23):
folks, it's one in the morning. I started watching this debate. I
was bored within ten minutes. ButI was also shocked at Joe Biden's apparent
No, they didn't juice him upon methamphetamines like everybody was thinking was going
to happen. Completely different performance fromhis first debate with Trump. Or he

(02:45):
could speak coherently. He looked animated, he was energetic. He looked wired.
That's why everyone thought it was drugs. This time, he looked like
he needed a nap. He lookedlike he was having a nap. On
stage. He couldn't speak. Ididn't understand him. The energy was low.
And you know, I think CNNreally blew it with this format,

(03:07):
not for Trump supporters, but forBiden supporters, because the lack of an
art an audience I think hurt Biden. There's something about a lot. Anyone
who's ever done stage or a speechor a theater or anything like that,
there's something about or musicians they'll knowexactly what I mean. There's something about
a live audience. So a musician'sin the studio, in a cold,

(03:30):
stark studio behind you know, thickglass and thick soundproofing, and there's someone
else in a booth in the otherroom singing that lyric again, do it
over a little more feeling whatever they'retelling him right, completely different than a
live performance right where they're feeding offthe audience. The vibe is different.

(03:50):
I mean, I still think someof the best performances from musicians are live
performances when you don't hear the damnaudience in the background. The point is
you get energy from the other peoplein the room, good or bad.
So the format CNN had, Ithink hurt Joe Biden and actually helped Trump

(04:11):
because Trump couldn't in Look, weall have to admit the last debate with
Biden and Trump was much more exciting, but it was also frustrating with all
the interruptions, So it actually helpedto give Trump restraint, and it hurt
Biden in my estimation, because hisenergy was loud. No, Trump's energy
was low to I think Trump, especially Trump, feeds off the crowd,

(04:35):
and I think he knew he waswinning. I think he knew Joe was
floundering. So it was probably besthe didn't have a microphone because Trump will
pounds. He can't help himself. He sees a wounded fawn, he pounces
like a tiger. That's him.So it wouldn't have helped him to start

(04:55):
beating up this old man who's lookedsenile. I mean, I don't know
how else to describe. You'll seethe clips in the morning, but here's
the point. It's one o'clock inthe morning, I'm doing the show because
I was going to do a blowby blow with the debate, whether it
was live, since we don't havethe spreaker live function, I was just
going to record it and pretend likeit was live when it went out or

(05:16):
which I don't like to do,or play clips, so the two of
us could sit here and go throughthis damn thing. And when I say
two, I know there's more thantwo if you're listening, but I'm talking
to you, and go through thisdamn thing and dissect it. What's the
point doing a post mortem on thisis irrelevant because we know Joe's done.

(05:40):
He's done stick a four kampany He'snot. You don't have to believe me.
I want you to listen to CNNimmediately after the debate. You don't.
You've never heard CNN talk like thisbefore. Because no matter how bad
Joe does, no matter what hedoes, he could fall downstairs, he
could fall upstairs, he could mumblewords, he could have a brain aneurysm,

(06:04):
not literally, but you know whatI mean, a brain fart where
he just sits there and blankly staresout and doesn't know what to say.
Where he's shaking hands with imaginary people. The White House spokesperson said the other
day a video of Joe stumbling offthe stage, not stumbling, but being
walked off the stage by Obama wasgenerated by AI. I mean it wasn't.
By the way, they're running outof excuses for this poor guy.

(06:28):
There's no way they can. There'sno lipstick they can put on this pig
to sell it. They can't andthey know it. So even when CNN
when Van Jones, who used towork for Biden, who adores the man,
says that was painful, When everyother pundit on CNN says Joe's done,
We've got to find somebody else.Well, again, I'm not trying

(06:51):
to brag, but getting back towhat I was saying at the beginning.
What have I been saying on thisshow for months? They're gonna jet it,
send Joe Biden? And who dothey want to get in? In
my estimation, Newsom? They wantto get in Newsom. Now's the perfect
opportunity. Here's our October surprise.Well, guess what Newson, who is

(07:11):
actually interested in running for Oh Ohthe party, came in Newsom in the
dead of knight and said we needyour help. Joe Biden, he's having
his mental acuity. It's not there. What will we do? And then
Newsom comes riding in out of Californiaon his dark horse. She'd better you
had better her hope Newsom doesn't becomepresident. He is the worst thing that

(07:35):
could happen in this country. Lookwhat he did to California. Look what
he did during the pandemic. Youcouldn't leave the damn house. His only
answer after the I don't even knowChina, ask the only way to describe
it. The only other country otherthan China that had these ridiculous restrictions was

(08:01):
probably Australia. They were arresting peoplein the park. The Aussies lost all
their independents, lost their swashbuckling asskicking ways, lost their minds. I
was so shocked at the Aussies. But additionally, we knew it was going
to come from China, and thenthe state or really the country, the

(08:22):
Third World. Now, hell, whole country of California knew. Some recked.
It had surpluses, tax surpluses. Now it's in deficits. More people
are leaving the state than moving in. Major companies are leaving because they want
the tax prices it's a mess. It's a mess. Crime rampant, immigrants
killing little kids, little girls, raping and killing. You've heard. I

(08:45):
don't want to tell you. Idon't like talking about that stuff. It's
horrible. This is the California undernewsom so he's going to bring that to
the rest of the country. Folks. Just listen. You know I'm not
even There's nothing else I have tosay, nothing else I have to say.
But I will say one more thingbefore I play some clips, because
I want you to hear how badthis was received worldwide. But one other

(09:11):
thing I will say is CNN reallyblew it. Because if you wanted an
exciting debate, if you want, look, CNN wants to propel Biden,
not hurt him. So I thinkeverything they did hurt him. Not having
a live audience it would have kepthim awake, We kept him awake.
Muting the mics might have helped.Muting the mics might have helped them.

(09:33):
I thought the format was poor.CNN slapped their we have to talk about
this, CNN slapped their damn logoall over that set and everywhere. It
was like, it was cheesy. That's the best story. It was cheesy.
There were logos in the podium, logos in the background, logo signs
everywhere. It was just CNN.That's all you saw. I'm like,

(09:54):
what in the fuck why it lookedlike it it was an advertisement for CNN
because nobody's watching them. The ratingsare tanking, The ratings are sinking like
an anchor. This is probably theI would assume the highest ratings they've had
in cable in years, and inmy estimation, they screwed it up.

(10:20):
It was bizarre those debates. Theformat may have heard or helped Biden.
I think low energy Biden needed thelive crowd. Excuse me? And what
it just wow? I mean wow, folks. Were you able to sit
through more than twenty minutes of it? Because I, frankly I wasn't.

(10:41):
I watched about twenty minutes, turnedit off, came back on, well,
came back to it, said mejust tune back in, watched a
little more, turned it off, came back, watched a little more.
Like I just couldn't get I waslike, this is so hard to watch.
Look, Joe can't drive the car. He can't drive the car.

(11:03):
You know, when Grandma was atthe point where she's like I gotta keep
driving. I want my independence.I understand that, but there's a point
where you have to take the keysaway from grandma. She's just she can't
drive anymore. She's gonna kill somebodyor herself, or a family of five,
or she's gonna kill us all.Is this the guy that you want
to have his finger on the bomb? Who couldn't even answer a question about

(11:30):
abortion, which is like there,I don't want to say there, but
a leading issue that people are thinkingabout, but they think they're in the
right. They said, look, this is one issue we can turn people
around because we know it's a fiftyto fifty shot, right. He couldn't
even explain that. Go listen tohis explanations about any of his policies.
It was like it was just hismum. He was obviously reading or he

(11:54):
memorized. I don't think he wasreading from a telepropter or notes, but
he was in his mind. Youcould see his eyes almost going from right
to left I'm sorry, from leftto right right, or like he's reading
it in his mind. He wasjust spewing out this crap because he was
told to, and that's what hememorized, and that's what they trained him

(12:16):
on for I was gonna say hoursbefore the debate, days before the debate,
we the whole week. Oh,probably all week. That's all he
did. And he looked like ahusk of the man, weak just to
beat. Look, all you needto know is when you watch the first
thirty seconds, because Joe comes outfirst, he comes out with low energy.

(12:39):
He looks dazed and confused and bumbling. Within thirty seconds, you go,
oh, this is bad. Thirtyseconds I was like, oh,
man, you're never gonna believe me. This is CNN. You think it
was bad, Oh, it wasbad. When CNN's talking like this,
and the idea that he's gonna say, you know, I had a bad

(13:00):
debate. I think I'm going towalk away from this. I find it
hard to believe. Let's go toSean Hannity, the President for presidents making
their way off to Scenn debate stage. This is right after it happened,
fresh off sceneate, come out formerPresident Trump walking off the stage the first
debate of the twenty twenty four campaign, in the earliest presidential debate ever now
in the books and in front ofthe voter. Tonight, along with Aaron

(13:22):
Burnette, the first word on whatthose voters might make of it from our
political professionals from our CNN Flashpole andSwing State focus Group. We'll be talking
to sorgates including Vice President Harris, getting fact checks from our Daniel Dale,
and new reporting from inside both campaigns. With me here seen in political commentator
Scott Jennings, Kate Bettingfield, DavidUrban, Van Jones, Solsafar Griffin and
Newsnight anchor Abby Phillip and David Axrod, and CNN Chief National correspondent John King.

(13:45):
John, let me start with youyour thoughts, Ederson, This was
a game changing debate in the sensethat right now as we speak, there
is a deep, a wide, and a very aggressive panic in the Democratic
Party. It started minutes into thedebate and it continues right now. It
involves party strategists, it involves electedofficials, it involves fundraisers, and they're
having conversations about the president's performance, which they think was dismal, which they

(14:09):
think will hurt other people down theparty in the ticket, and they're having
conversations about what they should do aboutit. Some of those conversations include,
should we go to the White Houseand ask the president's step aside or other.
Of the conversations are about should prominentDemocrats go public with that call because
they feel this debate was so terrible. They do say in moments in the

(14:30):
debate. Later the president got betterand got his footing, but then at
the end, even his closing statementwas a little halting the contrast between the
two candidates. Let me be clear, none of them and a lot of
Republicans don't think Donald Trump had agreat night. Donald Trump broke the fact
check machine more than I can counttonight. That will be on the record
as we go forward. He refusedto answer some very specific and direct questions
about his conduct about January sixth andwhat all. So that will be dealt

(14:52):
with out there. And sometimes there'sa parallel universe between the political elites and
the American people. Be nice tosee what the voters say. But I
can tell you it started minutes in. It started with the first couple of
answers, and it has continued throughoutthe night from oh my god, oh
my god, oh my god,to what do we do about this?
And it involves very senior people inthe Democratic Party, including elected officials,

(15:13):
saying we have a problem, andjust to co sign what John is saying.
I mean, the panic that Iam hearing from Democrats is not like
anything that I have heard in thiscampaign so far, and a lot of
it has to do with First ofall, there was a deep frustration about
Trump's lies. I mean, helied a lot tonight. But the problem
for Biden was that Trump was ableto take sometimes incredible falsehoods and turn them

(15:37):
into some kind of argument, whereasBiden's answers were in a lot of cases
not coherent, deeply problematic, thathe was not able to take pretty straightforward
answers and answer them to the Americanpublic, and then also at some points
bringing things up that teed up Trumpattacks. So there's a real concert learn

(16:00):
here tonight that there's been some realdamage done that cannot be undone. Biden
solidified the perception among voters, butespecially among his base. They were hoping
that tonight would be a game changer. They are now seeing a president who
is in the White House who theydo not necessarily believe can do this for

(16:23):
another four years. Saved excera.Look, I can't argue with either of
them about how a Democrat leaders.Democratic leaders are reacting to this poll We
said at the beginning that each personhad a fundamental goal, and for Biden,
that goal was to appear energetic, engaged, and look like someone who

(16:47):
is capable of serving for another fouryears for president. That was job number
one. I actually think he scoreda bunch of points. I think if
you just judge this on sort ofpolicy stuff, he did score a bunch
of points on issues like abortion, for example, on some of the economic
issues. But there is a thereis a feeling. I think there was

(17:11):
a sense of shock actually, howhe came out at the beginning of this
debate, how his voice sounded aboutyou know, he seemed a little disoriented.
He did get stronger as the debatewent on, but by that time
I think the panic had set in. And I think you're going to hear
discussions that I don't know will leadto anything, but you know there is

(17:33):
gonna They're gonna be discussion but whetherhe should continue. And I think part
of it is Donald Trump did notmeet his mission either. He could not
resist the attemption of the the temptationto be nasty, to prevaricate about a
whole bunch of things about his ownrecord, trash Trump. They can barely

(17:57):
do it because they know how badby and was listening to this and a
president who may not be able totake advantage of him. I listen.
If anybody in America thinks that thatwas even close to being an okay debate
by Joe Biden, I'm living ina parallel universe. That was an unmitigated
disaster for President Biden from the secondhe walked out to the closing statement,

(18:19):
the biggest issue for Democrats is abortion, and he couldn't give an answer.
He gave an answer for a three. He couldn't even give a coherent answer
on the biggest issue for Democrats tonight. I've heard from leading Democrats across the
United States, elected governors, congressmanwhose texting me and saying, I'm worried

(18:40):
I'm gonna lose if Joe Biden's atthe top of the ticket. Bob Casey,
I promise you tonight in the stateof Pennsylvania is thrown up in his
mouth because he knows that he's gotto stand next to Joe Biden. He's
going down in Pennsylvania if he's onthe ticket. I don't know how it's
going to work. Have you everheard CNN talk like this Joe Biden.
I don't think there's any way anyother way to slice it. His biggest

(19:02):
issue that he had to prove tothe American people was that he had the
energy at the stamina, and hedidn't do that, and so I think
that is of concern and I thinkfor a lot of Democrats that's very disappointing.
I will say Donald Trump also hadsome really rough moments in this debate.
And you know, talking to theBiden campaign, they say, you
know, their dials started really movingaway from Trump as he was increasing his

(19:22):
personal attacks on Biden. So Ithink there was a lot about his kind
of character and the kind of personalnastiness that he was putting on display.
You know, that doesn't help himwith the swing voters that he needs,
you know, and I also thinkyou saw him continue to get sort of
more and more animated across the courseof the debate, and you know,
give some really problematic answers about Januarysixth, some really problem with adamant problematic

(19:45):
answers about Putin. So you know, Donald Trump did not get off Scott
free tonight by any stretch. Butlook, there there is no two ways
about it that was not a gooddebate for Joe Biden. Then that was
painful. I love Joe Biden.I worked for Joe Biden. He didn't
do well at all. He didnot do well at all, and he

(20:06):
looked, Yeah, I'll give youthe analysis, you know, kind of
have the old man versus the conman. I can walk you through how
I'm supposed to see it and sayit, but I just want to speak
from my heart. I love thatguy as a good man. He loves
his country. Uh, he's doingthe best that he can. But he
had a test to meet tonight,to restore confidence of the country and of

(20:30):
the base, and he failed todo that. And I think there's a
lot of people who are going towant to see him consider taking a different
course. Now we're still far fromour convention, and there is time for
this party to figure out a differentway forward if he will allow. This
is Van Jones. I mean, this guy has never said anything negative about

(20:53):
the President Biden. Former president. We should, we should, we should
get used to calling him former PresidentBiden. It's over. It's over.
Probably going to go down in historyas one of the worst debate performances ever.

(21:14):
Here's Hannity let's Hannity in the spinroom and Atlanta Sean, what's your
reaction. You know, guys,in the history of modern televised presidential debates,
I don't think America has ever seenanything like this. I wrote down
some adjectives and I'm going to justread a few of them off to you.

(21:36):
It was the biggest train wreck ofany presidential candidate ever brit Is.
Right from the minute he spoke atthe opening of the debate, he sounded
awful. He started with speedy talk, He looked terrible. Maybe the worst
part of all of this is whenhe wasn't even speaking, he was staring
out like an empty vessel or vacantto use Martha's words. Yeah, that

(21:59):
was go here in. This isafter a full week of prep, mumbling,
bumbling, stumbling, days confused, struggling. You know, he had
a brain fart twice during the debate. It was a disaster. Now I'm
looking, for example, at theDrudge Report, and the Drudge Report is
saying Operation replaced Joe Biden. That'snot good. The Border Patrol Union has

(22:23):
come out and said, to beclear, we have never and will never
endorse Joe Biden. Politico has apeace out right right now, saying Biden
is toast, calling it now,Biden stumbles and rambles in the opening debate
operation replace him in one hundred andthirty days. The Democrats that I know
that we're texting me, are ina state of complete They are staring panic.

(22:48):
And here's the thing, let mejust pause this for a moment.
We'll get back to hannany. Thinkabout and you heard just he just rent
rattled off a bunch of articles.I'm sure New York Times, the Post,
LA Times, Washington Post, everywhere, Huffington, every Post, Long
Beach Post, everywhere. You're goingto see the headlines. Biden's done,

(23:10):
right, Because you have to remember, in the end, the Democrats want
to win. They want the power, so if they have to shoot a
dead horse, they will if theyhave the jettison Biden, which I've been
telling you. You know, Iwas just listening to all that and thinking
to myself, I should go backinto the archives, which I don't have

(23:33):
the time to do. So I'mnot going to do it and play the
many times I said they're going tojettison Joe Biden and put in Newsome and
if not new some someone else orI hate to say it. I hate
to say it, but suddenly somethinghappens to Biden. He has a heart
attack. Wink, nod, wink. And then Carmala Harris's president and they

(23:56):
go, okay, great, sonow let's run Kamala as president and Newsome
as vice president. That could bean angle. There's a lot of angles
here, folks. Let me getback to Hannity. But I mean just
and he's right when he said andBiden was staring off what did you say,
like an empty vessel. It wasscary. It was unnerving. It

(24:18):
was unnerving because with the split screen, you're looking at Trump as he's speaking,
and Biden's just sitting there. Hedoesn't even sound like or it doesn't
seem like rather he's listening. It'sjust like he just looked bewildered, dazed
and confused, befuddled. This onefor him tonight. But you know,
i'd like to I wish it weren'tsaw. It was almost like I was

(24:41):
waiting at times for somebody to justthrow in the towel. It was a
no moss, no moss moment. It's over, it's done. He is
too weak, he is too frail. He is a cognitive mess. He
is not strong enough. But whatis the most difficult, toughest, hardest
job on the face. It shouldhave been stopped her. They should have
thrown in the tal It's a greatpoint. This is serious, it is

(25:03):
significant, and I don't know howthis plays out from here. To Donald
Trump's credit, on the other end, he was dialed in. He did
not take the bait. He tookall the slings and arrows, the rehearse
lines of Joe Biden. He letit roll off him like water off of
Duck's back, and he stayed onmessage and was extraordinarily effective on pretty much

(25:23):
every issue of substance they talked about. I tend to disagree there. I
mean, I thought Trump I can'teven measure to had a decent performance.
But it was a low energy Trump. I'm not used to seeing Trump as
reserved and kind of subdued. Itwas almost like he knew that he was

(25:45):
going to get muted. He wastrying to be something that he's not.
He was trying to be restricted,I guess is the best word. So
it wasn't the normal Trump I'm usedto seeing. He did fine, he
did great, but oka this wassad. The whole debate. It was
strange, it was weird. Wow, Oh Alex exon Mike, he's looking

(26:26):
of the radio, bringing that fire. Watch him go. Let the levels
blow money can bombastic. He's thehype machine, spinning tracks like a madman,
creating a wild scene. He's gotthat charism, he's got that swag
and he speaks. Everybody's got theirhands up flags. She's the light for
the party. It's turning the dialup high. No one can resist when

(26:47):
Alex toss him by on their madnessand beast be dropping fast. Alex Saxon
got the whole city dancing movie grassYou at the base fill of the room
when he's on the radio, it'saway you as soon
